Fight that fucking power
It's Monday
Let's do this shit
Most sample drummer
In the history of time
I saw this guy live
Like last year
Dude
Up close to personal, it was insane, dude.
Kick it, Lee.
Kick this meal, Lee.
Clyde Stoveville.
Kick this meal, Lee.
You know, Lee.
Oh, shit.
What's happened, you bad motherfuckers?
Lee, that's terrible DJing tonight.
You told me to just do that from now.
You got to cut it down low.
You got to, you know, like the music
and set it into the fucking thing.
You can't do it for your body.
You shut me to do a fashion now.
You shut me up.
I didn't pay the fucking rent.
You know what I'm saying?
My favorite verse.
fucking Jew landlord and shit.
You know what I'm saying?
Elvis.
It's Monday, August 15th.
We're here.
We got a fucking beautiful music show tonight.
First of all, we got Lee Syatt.
We got my man Dean D'Eau and the Man of Steel.
Rainin Basio.
Here tonight, say hello everybody.
What's happening?
Hello.
Yeah.
Yo, yo.
Everybody's intact here.
It was a beautiful fucking weekend in Denver.
If you came to the shows, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart.
It meant a world to me.
The shows are sold out.
People brought weed, fucking out.
Somebody brought rocks.
I mean, it was just sensational.
So thank you very much for supporting a live conominy in Denver.
The green chili.
The green chili from fucking Sam's.
I broke my own record.
I ate at Sam's eight meals in a rock.
Oh, God.
I love that.
I love when I was there and you called me,
you went, how many times you've been at Sam's?
And I was just walking across the street there as you called me.
It was great.
Steaking eggs, seven bucks.
Seven fucking bucks.
I would go in the mornings and get a green chili with two eggs,
a cup, with two eggs.
bacon and the wheat toast.
I wouldn't eat their fucking tortilla.
I would just drink that fucking thing and get your body going.
Fuck coffee.
Who needs coffee?
You got green fucking chili?
You know what I'm saying?
And then I go for lunch and have a bowl.
And then I go there and eat the steak.
Yeah.
For $12.95, the New York tea bone with a baked potato.
I cut half the baked potato.
You can't eat the fucking whole thing.
Nope.
And they give you a piece of corn and a fucking piece of bread this big with a stick of butter.
They don't give a fuck about your heart.
And they got, you know how you go to some place?
and they have like whatever the fake fucking butter and something else these guys got two
times of butter they got real butter like if they want to die or if you want to die
quickly they got churned butter like that's to let you know we ain't fucking around
here we don't give a fuck about health but the green no-low sodium nothing nothing
and the fucking salad there's the best thing in the world oh man like they could take you
greasy greasy or they could take you they got a taco salad that if you don't
eat the fucking chips. Yeah. And just the meat, the avocado and the salad and the onions and the
beans, you'll live to your fucking 80. Yeah. It's that Colorado beef. You know, that shit's a USDA. They
kill it right there. Yeah, I bought a shirt. I got the Grateful Dead Sam's number three shirt.
Oh, you're so fucking great. I saw that on the way out. Yeah. I rock that shirt everywhere.
Oh, they love it. They love that, you know, well, people think that to be, everybody thinks
had Denver just popped up.
Yeah.
The one thing about Denver was,
they've been a bunch of pot smoking motherfuckers.
Oh, yeah.
For 30 years.
I got there in 81, I got there in 83,
and it was just like,
you know, I would tell this kid,
I had this kid named Cato.
His name was Keith Corn.
Yeah.
And he lived Down Valley and basalt to Carbondale.
And Cato had been there for 10 years before me.
And I went to Cato when I was thiefing,
and I would have loose cash at the house as a Cato.
Do me a big favor.
Let's stop the charade.
Because he would always come over.
He would be one of those guys that would come over and, like, say,
my friend's got this.
We don't, don't, don't.
Just buy the fucking weed.
And when you bring it, give me the cash.
Yeah.
It's that easy.
Why, you got to come all the way over here, tell me that the guy, it's tremendous.
Because he was like, oh, he's a connoisseur.
He liked it.
He's the one that took me to the Woody Creek Tavern for the first time.
And I saw the dude with the fucking cigarette, the writer, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.
Oh, yeah, fucking Hunter S. Thompson.
And the second time he brought me down there.
I saw Don Johnson and Bill Murray with Hunter.
Hunt that stops.
Wow.
And the Woody Creek Tabbin, there was no VIP section.
There's no door man.
There's no purple fucking carpet.
It's just beers.
The reason why I fell in love with the place was the nachos.
They would use real East Coast chorizo in the nachos, which is unheard of even play in 2016.
I've never had chorizo nach.
Oh, my God.
That's where it's out.
Oh, my God.
Really greasy, you know what I mean?
Seeps through onto the chips.
Onto the chips.
the cheese and it's just off.
If the chips are in-house made, Lee, your fucking heart will stop.
Yeah, I love Denver.
I was just there, man.
Saw a dead in company there in Boulder.
And there's only two places you need to see the dead.
Sam Fran and Boulder.
That's it, man.
Everybody's just like right on.
It was so weird.
Like when I first discovered the dead, I go, this is unlistenable.
Yeah, me too.
I hated it.
This is unlistenable.
You cannot listen to this.
This is just beyond unlistenable.
then I started dating a girl
and she brought home working men's dead
The best
And something else
Fire on the Mountain and there was something else
American Beauty
Oh, that's a killer
There was like five or six albums
That she brought that
She would just play
And after a while you would hum along
The next thing you know you knew the lyrics
And next thing you know you're like
God damn this is solid fucking music
Yeah
He doesn't annoy you at first
Oh I hate you
I hate that I like it
I know she was a cool chick
And she got high
and she had dirty feet.
Yeah.
And I liked it.
And she would go, do you like the debt?
You know, put it out.
I mean, listen, the other day, this is a very interesting podcast because a lot of guys don't know Rain and is my favorite drummer's son.
And that's how him and I became friends.
We were having an argument on some podcast.
And I said, fuck all you punks.
Terry Bosio will make him suck his dick backwards.
Yeah.
And it's funny because I was never the type of guy that would talk shit unless I could present the facts.
I saw Neil Perch a great drummer, but I got to get through fucking the singer.
Yeah.
And then no disrespect to Canadians.
You know, I'm with triumph.
Yeah.
I'm a triumph.
They're laying on the line.
Old school.
I know somebody who got shot to that song in my neighborhood.
I go April Wine.
Yeah, April Wine.
All that lover boy.
All right?
Not working for the weekend.
But what I like is turn me loose.
Turn me loose.
Jesus fucking Christ, turn me loose.
But I got to tell you, the fucking singer from Rush made me want to
crawl out of my skin, but I sat through, I went, I paid for the ticket.
You know me, dog, I was the real deal growing up.
Oh, hell yeah.
I paid the 1850.
Why?
Because I wanted a senior per.
Oh, okay.
I had to give my fucking judgment.
How can I talk shit on the corner if I don't even know what the fuck I'm talking about?
You know what I'm saying this?
People talk shit.
Have you seen them?
No, but they got the live out.
I'm live from Buda con.
Have you seen them, bitch?
Then come talk to fucking Uncle Joey because I'll present the fucking Paxie.
Okay?
Yeah.
You know, I saw, I never saw Bonham.
I saw Ward, you know, I saw, you know, at the time, who did I think was really good?
Well, I always thought Purt, but then Bonham wiped them all out, then Bonham died.
I was just stupid and hard-headed like most young kids are.
Keith Moon, we got Keith Moon.
I couldn't tolerate him.
Yeah, I couldn't tolerate the stupidity.
Too animal?
Yeah, too much.
He ate the flowers at the table.
Yeah, I had friends like that.
You know what?
Give it a breather.
Okay, so I know you're a little crazy good.
Keep fucking eating and shut your mouth.
He would crawl through the window.
It was like, blow up his kit.
It was, let me tell you what it was like,
cause the end, it was a little bit Belushi-ish.
Yeah.
A lot of people don't know, but at the end of Belushi, it got a little old.
Like, it was old.
It's sad.
Yeah, he got old quick at the end with Belushi, and then he died.
And that's it.
People were like, okay, we got that off our fucking hands, you know?
It really was.
For people who weren't alive, everybody loved Belushi and Belushi.
And that's how Kevin Farley got a little bit.
Like, he got, like, okay.
Chris Farley.
Chris Farley.
Yeah, yeah.
You know, we got like a little, because he wanted to go out the same way as fucking Belushi.
Totally.
But I went to see the Opert, and there was somebody else I liked, too, as a drummer.
Not the guy from the Scorpions.
Oh.
He, he, I think he toured with Shankner one year.
But a lot of attitude, he died.
Oh, Cozy Powell?
Yeah, he was killed.
Rainbow, dude.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Like I was a fucking.
Rainbow rising, man.
Who, that got killed.
And then one day, like, me, I'm starting to do crazy things.
my friends and Sabbath had broken up and you know the reality was setting in that the deal was
with sabbett and john lennon was shot yeah and you got to move on and all of a sudden one day
fucking mtvcv some song called mental hopscotch oh yeah i was on the lamb in siretosa florida you
know what that's like being on the lamb in sarasota florida sounds exciting no it sounds like
you want to turn yourself in at any minute just extradite me back to what about at this time
No disrespect to Sarasota.
This time there was nothing going on.
Yeah.
You had to go to this black, disgusting neighborhood to get weed.
The weed was horrible.
I'm down there on the lamb dropping fucking 50 a day and gas and weed.
Just to get the fucking weed.
It cost me 30 a day.
I'm staying with this kid Hartman who was beating up his father in front of me.
Oh, man.
Like fucking fucking him up and hitting him with his own cane and shit.
Elderly abuse.
It was fucking, you know.
But he recently called and his father died.
Now he lives in hell because he said,
I know you saw all those things.
Yeah, of course.
Because now I know what you felt like when your dad died.
I don't know how you handled it at that young age.
We recently reconnected.
But the point is that I would go out to see, you know, I went to see everybody.
I went to see fucking Twister's assistant.
I walked out.
There was a lot of shit I went and me and my buddies were just not into it.
Let's go.
And you wouldn't believe it.
I can't even name all the list of bands.
I had a friend James.
He's Mercy's Godfather.
There's no tolerance for James.
You got two minutes.
You got two fucking minutes.
with him. And he would just look at you and go, let's go.
And we go to a Chinese restaurant.
Better come with fire on the first song.
You had two songs.
Yeah. Yeah.
And I'd never figure we went to see Twister's sister when they wore makeup.
Yeah.
And they came out at the time and they were like,
we're twisted fucking sister, man.
And we both looked at each other and we're like,
let's go.
And people were like, how was the concert?
Like, before we walked out.
Like, people couldn't handle it at that time.
You didn't even get to hear, I want to rock.
No, this is a year before I.
I want to rock.
Yeah.
Oh, yeah.
The other one.
Because Twist's sister was our name of a man.
Stay hungry.
We had, we had, we had the soap factory.
Yeah.
Where we, I saw the, I saw the last temptation of aerosmith there.
Oh.
In 82 or one, I saw them fall apart like fucking transgender bathrooms.
Live on stage, they just fell apart?
It fell apart.
It was something.
That was the height.
Joe Perry was gone.
Yeah.
Brad Whiff, it was gone.
Yeah.
They broke up for like a couple of years.
Lightning strikes.
Lightning strikes.
Rocking a hard fest.
And he's,
Lysayat, you wouldn't recognize the Senate.
From heroin?
It's just gone.
And he was on stage.
Everything.
Everything.
Everything.
Everything.
Everything you can imagine.
It was something that it was embarrassing.
It was one of the most embarrassing.
And at the end, it ended up him getting punched in the face.
And the door people had to pull him.
And you knew it.
You walked out of it, going, that's the last time.
We'll see you fucking hair also.
Damn.
That's crazy.
You know, they went from an arena in 77 with Ted, Poco, Frank Marino, Mahogany Rush,
you know, to a fucking, you know, just this hole in the soap factory, down the corner from Chance.
Like, I could fucking walk from Chan's Dragon in to the bubble factory.
How did you see anything amusing down by Chan's dragging in except for the fucking $3 a pound for the chicken cutlets per pound across?
the street, the gas station, and there's a
Dairy Queen. That's been there since I was a kid.
We would ride along the swamps and go to
Dairy Queen. There's a motorcycle. That's
all that was theirs, since we've been kids.
Chans, and on the corner is a place that sells
chicken collars by the pounds. They've been
there for fucking years. I remember going 99 cents.
Cook or uncooked? Uncooked.
Skinned, cut.
That's all they sell? That's it.
It's an interesting story. So it's
down the block from there. Then we had
something hole in the wall,
which we used to goof on people and call
hole in your pants. At that time when I was growing up, it was
Bon Jovi. Yeah. Sticky fingers. It was a cover band for the Stones.
There was a Pink Floyd. There was Twisted Sister. The good rats were
lurking. Yeah. You remember the good rats? The good rats were lurking.
They opened. That big shot was the garden opening up for
maybe Erosmith. Right. And somebody threw a fucking, you know, this is
your big shot. Yeah. Yeah. This is your big shot to fucking
the garden. You're from Long Island.
You know, you're at the garden opening up for, I think it's Erasmith.
Somebody's going to correct me.
And while they were on stage, somebody threw a fucking cherry bomb and blew them up.
And then they fucking ran out of there.
And Erol Smith got on stage and somebody threw two cherry bombs and they ran out.
Like they waited all their fucking life to go to the garden.
Something weird happened with somebody.
I'm cherry bombing these motherfuckers.
Somebody cherry bombed them.
Then they cherry bombed there.
They waited an entire year.
They had it.
Their fridge.
They had their moms, their dads out there,
and somebody cherry bombs.
Because, listen, in the 70s, no,
it was a well-known fact.
You know, like, what times the concerts start?
The garden always started at 7.35.
Union room.
Union room.
But the one that I saw ACDC,
that became club mtv that's how fucking disgusting it was like the palladium oh yeah the palladium
was 8 o'clock and 10 after 8 but you always had the warm up back
who the fuck wants to see yes he always showed up 45 minutes you always showed up 835
got your seat but then people started saying okay we'll throw the deaf leppett up yeah we'll throw
iron maiden up in front of judas praise we'll throw some fucking ac dc in front of ted yeah on highway
way to hell, which they were untouchable.
We'll throw, I get,
somebody was telling me the lineup. They were going to go see
Leonard Skinner with it before they got
blown up. Like that was like a
fucking 1550 lineup that you were
going to go home going, I might shoot myself.
Yeah, yeah. Like it was, it was them to
the outlaws. All the send, killer bands up.
No, they were on tour. They were on tour
with Ted. Yeah. Lettickin
was blowing Ted out. Like, it was well known
that Ted was like up there shooting arrows
at himself. For sure.
They had three guitarists just shrunk.
ratting his balls off.
I just had the,
he couldn't hang with those guys.
I had the Aerosmith Sound Man on my podcast
on 76, 77 era,
and he said Ted opened on the first tour
with Ted's first album pre-catchcatch Fever,
and he was just getting booed.
Like people were not, he wasn't like killing
like later Ted, you know,
and then a year later, cat scratch fever comes out
and he's just a god, you know?
Well, I don't think it was him much as,
as much as just the opening act aura.
Right.
Like people actually went to spit,
you know,
no class motherfuckers actually went to fucking fuck with the opening.
Throw quarters.
I didn't go.
Really?
They would do that?
Yeah.
Throw quarters.
Like you would just know to go fuck with the opening band.
Assos.
I can look you straight in the face.
I would never do that.
I would never do that.
I just wouldn't pay attention or I wouldn't go.
But then that's what happened.
People started getting late to concerts
and people started going dog.
fucking Junisbury sucked
fucking Iron Maiden
came out with killers and did the whole side
to the team
Paul Deano and you missed it
Yeah
And you're like
Clyde Burr on drums
Oh my God
It was just something
You're the second person today that mentioned
Drummer is Clyde Berra
That was a man
A guy was killer
The guy was killer
You know Clyde Burr
Man I was always more of a
Niko guy
Yeah
I mean
But that was just me
Yeah yeah
You know, the funny thing is, like, my mom actually dated Bruce Dickinson.
Whoa, really?
Yeah, so, like, we got to go see them a couple years ago.
Her name was Evie Cavami.
She worked at Capitol Records for a long time.
And then, you know, she ended up meeting my dad eventually and ended up...
After Dale?
Yeah, after Dale.
They got no kids with Dale, right?
No kids with Dale.
She has some kids with some other people.
But, yeah, it's everybody thinks it does.
I was my mom. It's like I was kind of have to clear the air. Like, nope, not my mom.
Yeah, you'd be like 90 if it was, right?
You know, they were, what, 80?
Well, yeah, I think like to 86, I think is when they got divorced, something like that.
Yeah, so. And they were dating in the 70s because Frank Zappa, there's all these like live recordings of them talking about, you know, her and then because she was always hanging out, you know.
She was in that movie, baby snakes, all that stuff, you know.
So, yeah, there's, there's always that connection.
But speaking of, yeah, my mom.
Anyway, we went and saw Iron Maiden a couple years ago.
Like, I think 2010.
Irvine Amphitheater?
No, no.
I was living in Texas at the time.
So I saw I'm in San Antonio.
I think it was like some sort of, the AT&T Center where the Spurs play.
You know what I mean?
There's the live after death tour again.
Murdered it.
Absolutely murdered it.
All these guys are old as fuck.
And just Bruce Dickinson's jumping across the stage.
There's these giant holes where, like, Eddie.
comes up and like this giant robot comes up and all this crazy stuff and he's like jumping over
the holes and stuff he's like 50 something yeah then he's flying the band after yeah and then you know
flying the band after and a seven fucking 47 exactly and apparently like he never comes out like
he never comes backstage or whatever but because he knew my mom was there he was like oh i got to
come see you and so man he was so nice to us he took pictures with all of us and was like really
cool guy was josh and me real hard and uh
amazing band amazing guy
Nicko is incredible like
he's he's one of those drummers
man that's like nobody or a lot
of people don't realize that he plays with
only one foot you know what I mean or one
a bass drum yeah
yeah everybody thinks he plays double bass because of all his doubles
he has such great like heel toe stuff you know what I mean
he's like a drummer's drummer dude
and yeah
can explain what that is for someone who doesn't know
anything about drums other than that you hit them
whoa whoa whoa what's where you back from the
grave all of the stuff? I like it.
I like it. No problem.
We got to finish his bottle. Why do we have to finish
it? We don't have to finish it. Because it's the 15th, it's an occasion.
28 years of dog, I got locked up.
Yeah. We've got to celebrate this occasion.
Yeah. Rainin's eating stars. Everybody's
spitting out fucking stars. You have three stars and one little
figgy fucking drop there. I'll take more stars.
How many more you want?
Whatever you want to give me.
Shit, look at you. I'm going to put a little acid on the fucking stuff.
Oh, shit.
I'm doing too, though. We got to finish his bottle.
We can't.
We can't. I'm just lingering.
This has been in here lingering like a spider.
Like a spider.
You know what I'm saying?
What are you breathing heavy for?
You're fine.
I'm cool.
You didn't see nothing yet.
Have you seen anything?
Yeah.
Some stuff's happened.
Yeah.
What kind of stuff is happening?
If you look at like your phone, like everything is jumbly and stuff.
Well, Lee ripped off his headphones.
He was seeing something for sure.
Oh, we had Santana in his fucking 1972.
Lee ripped off the air.
He had a little smile of chest.
But not Santana, Santana.
No, it was George.
Ralph Santana.
Ralph Santana.
That guy's a dick.
You know, he does a bunch of benefits, and people go up to him and go,
oh, we saw you in that movie.
He'll go, I don't want to talk about it.
Oh, he won't sign shit.
So Rudy Moreno said he's going to see him that.
And I go, Rudy, tell him to give me an autograph.
He's Carlos is George's brother.
Carlos, you know.
Tell him to give me an autograph.
Like a month later, Rudy gives him.
He goes, bro, he didn't want to fucking give it to me.
I had to beg him.
I took the fucking thing and ripped it up.
Who gives a fuck?
You know what the time?
I mean, this is something you did 40 years ago.
Nobody even remembers you.
You were fossil.
I give you the respect that I think you should deserve.
But his nephew travels with, I guess, his, George got his sister, and the nephew listens to the podcast and travels with Carlos.
So he sent me the CD from the last tour.
He sent me guitar stuff.
Sick.
A mug.
He hooked me up.
Oh, that's fine.
Carlos is a god.
Yeah, Carlos is a god, man.
I was at this photo show Saturday.
my buddy Baron Wulman shot Carlos at Woodstock.
And so they did these Woodstock photos Saturday.
They were fucking unbelievable.
And he's standing on stage shooting Santana.
And he told me his story.
He was backstage, Carlos, with Jerry Garcia.
They took some acid.
He thought he was on hours later.
And they go, you're on now.
And he's like, whoa, I can't go on right now.
And when he went on, he said his guitar was turning into a snake.
And he was like, whoa.
Yeah, yeah, and that's it.
What you think, Lee?
That said, changed his life, Lee.
Let's do it, Lee.
Let's finish this fucking thing, like savages.
Sure, everyone.
Sure, yeah.
The microphone's going to turn into a snake.
It's already there.
It's already there.
Oh, my goodness.
What do you feel, Doug?
What do I feel?
Yeah, what do you feel?
It's like everything is fast, but slow.
It's kind of weird.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, pretty.
That's pretty much. That's exactly what it's like.
Do you hear that when you're just breathing?
You're not hungry, are you?
I like when Lee makes noises.
He'll be over there and he'll go,
yeah, yeah, you don't know what I live with.
You have no idea what I live with.
Can I tell you something?
I have no idea I make those noises.
You're only, dude.
Sometimes it's the only way I know you're alive.
I look at me.
I have no idea I'm making those sounds.
You love it.
Oh, shit.
Oh, shit, make it win ass in.
Fuck, yeah, Lee.
We're going deep tonight.
It's all over.
All right.
Come here, Lee.
This is good for you.
Come on, Lee.
You got to take a little more.
Now, at least have you gone down the hole.
Yeah, that's it.
You're Uber and home, right?
Yeah.
I'm not going anywhere.
Last time you got the Mexican Uber from death.
You're right.
The Uber's going to escape.
Send him in a sock.
His Uber driver
Is he going to turn into Medusa?
Snakes out the head?
It did.
He made him.
Lee made him drop him off over
at North Hollywood bus station.
Oh, really?
And then took another fight.
Then he walked here and got the car.
He said, fuck it.
I ain't taking that.
Lee, you're going to take that thing?
He smelled too much like garlic.
What are you making Big Dead Lee?
It's like a little needle.
I just didn't want.
I did two and a half.
Go ahead.
Oh, shit, Lee.
There's so much more.
No.
There's nothing on that.
No, you got to squeeze the rub with it.
Oh
Like a doctor
Oh
Oh
Leo
Yeah
Almost vomiting on the
Kepat
Wait
Is that acid
Does that taste gross?
Does that taste gross
Have he the acid?
Oh
Yeah,
It doesn't taste great
Really?
No
No
No,
I'm surprised
Like chemicals
Don't taste
Great
Give me the fucking
Dude
He was gagging
When he was
He was eating
The chocolate
I know
I thought
It's fucking acid
It's fucking acid
Tasted
Lee.
Lee,
you want a little piece of chocolate?
No.
Hey, remember at the top of the show
Lee said, there'd be no more drops.
Exactly, right?
There'd be no more drops.
Which out?
Which out?
He's going to get sick.
Give me the trash can, please.
Yeah.
I might be okay.
I might be okay.
Hold on.
Hold on.
Let's just nice to have.
We just crossed our fingers.
Jesus Christ.
Yeah.
that was awesome
you know
what wasn't like growing up
with a famous father
shut the fuck up
cuck sucker
let me get that white lighter over there
he's trying to give you some shit right now
Lisa
I don't have a famous father
my name is Dean
my legs are shaking
it was good
but my dad's a different kind of famous
that's the weird thing like
it was cool for the most part because
he wasn't like Tommy Lee famous, you know what I mean?
He's not like Neil Purt famous even.
You know what I mean?
He's got a different kind of fame going for him.
So it was much easier for me.
I didn't have a hard of a time because it's not like,
oh yeah, everybody knew my dad.
Like people knew my dad were famous,
gave me a hard time about it,
and Will always because I'm in the same field as him.
But luckily, like, I don't try to really do what he does.
So, like, you know, I kind of get respect from a lot of my peers.
And for the most part, people don't see that I'm, you know, if I tried to do what he did, I don't think I would do the same.
There's flashes of his playing within me.
But other than that, I mean, it was really awesome because, like, I got so much genetic talent from him.
You know what I mean?
I was only in formal lessons a little bit here and there.
But for the most part, like, I feel like I just, like, inherited a lot of my drumming.
Would you hear him playing at the house as a child all the time?
Yeah.
So.
I was in concert.
in the womb, you know what I mean? Like, it was, it was just a thing. And I guess his dad was a musician as well.
His dad was a, like, an accordion player, like a prodigy accordion player when he was really young.
Where's your dad from? San Francisco. No, but heritage. He went to Drake High.
It'll, okay, I found this out, actually, last year, too, you like this. I got some Russian Jew
in me, just a small bit, but... Welcome to the globe. Hell yeah, I'm pretty stone. I like both of
those, you know what I mean? Then I got, oh, so he's Italian.
Finnish,
Scotch, Irish,
Russian Jew,
and I think Dutch,
on the white,
on his side,
from his genealogy studies,
that's what he's found out.
And on my mom's side,
I'm Norwegian and Mongolian.
So,
but my mom's side is where I get the height from,
too.
Wow.
But for the most part,
pretty Italian family.
Like,
they were both,
you know,
both his parents were pretty,
like,
Ellis Island,
you know what I mean?
Yeah.
Like serious.
Italian immigrants.
And they landed in San Francisco?
No, actually, I think he's...
In San Salma.
He's third generation.
Right.
He's third generation.
Because his grandpa helped build the Golden Gate Bridge.
Wow.
Yeah.
I didn't even know your dad went to Drake High and was from Marin.
It's crazy, man.
I know.
I thought he was an LA cat.
A lot of people think that because, yeah, he kind of made the name for himself here, always.
But...
You know his dad audition for Thin'Lizzy?
Didn't get the gig.
Right.
Isn't that crazy?
Did he ever tell you that story?
Oh, he's told me so many of those stories because I've had so many of those situations where I've called him and been like, oh, I had this opportunity to audition for like a Randy Jackson produced project, blah, and I totally whiffed it so hard.
You know what I mean?
Got super nervous, started like sweating, you know what I mean?
The kit wasn't set up right.
Just everything started going wrong.
You know what I mean?
He's like, dude, don't worry about that.
Like, you know, I've been through that, I've been through that hell so many times.
I mean, there's a lot of bands that, like, smashing pumpkins.
He played with them for like week, week or so.
Just didn't work out, you know what I mean?
Oh, before Kenny Aronoff got it?
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah, so there's a lot of that crazy stuff that happens where it's like,
oh, man, you think you're going to have this awesome gig,
or you think all this stuff is going to work out,
and then all falls through your feet, which I've experienced that a lot in my, you know, 11 years.
Well, I was playing drums since I was 11, so about 15 years.
So, I mean, we've all had that in different avenues, like comedy and you know exactly what you're doing it.
You think he killed it and you go in there.
Next thing, you know, Pacino's doing the role.
You know, like, I went up against Pacino.
No, you didn't.
They ripped you up your fucking tape before Pacino showed up.
They just used you until he said yes.
Some guy called me about a year ago.
One of those commercials, the Allstate, that you jump out the car, that guy.
Some fucking guy bumped into him.
He said, you've been on day?
No.
audition for this thing, like 18 times.
They made me do this and this and this,
then they gave it to the guy from Law and Order.
And I'm like, you really believed that you lost it to the guy from Law and Order?
Yeah, yeah.
You lost it when you walked in.
You know what I'm saying?
They had an offer on him.
Yeah, they had an offer on him.
Yeah, people always think, like, I went up against him.
No, you did not go up against him.
By the time they thought about him, you were in the fucking garbage.
Your headshot was in the garbage.
How do I know?
Because it's happened to me.
That's how the fuck, you know.
You think you got something like, Val Kilmer, Val Kilma.
How does Val Kilmer get this?
I went in the room when it was me and Frank Stallone.
How the fuck this Val Kilmer get this fucking role?
And I have forgotten all about this.
Maybe seven before I moved to the Valley, that last Christmas before I got married.
Yeah.
Does it make sense.
It was 2008.
The strike was 2007.
Yeah.
The writer strike.
Nothing was happening.
Did that really just kill everything?
I was in college then.
The city was fucking dead.
The city was dead.
People were talking shit.
People were striking.
I even went down to the street.
Restaurants were empty.
Because people weren't working.
Nobody.
Nobody.
Really?
Wow.
So right after that, little movie started getting made.
And I got this call for this fucking old-time gangster movie.
They robbed like a fucking restaurant that's got.
a million dollars in cash and heroin underneath it.
Yeah.
Like, they told me all the names,
and they're like, we're interested in you for this role.
It shoots an Idaho.
Like, they fucking had me all zapped up.
Yeah.
They fucked with my head.
They made me go in,
and they made me going again.
Then they went and had me get measured for suits.
That they knew you weren't going to need?
No, like they're like,
we want you to get tailored for these suits for this role.
This is going to be a lot of your roles
have to have expensive suits.
They tailor me, they measure.
me they picked out the shirts
the suits I went for another
callback everybody was in the room what do you think
I was shooting in Idaho I love it
I'm blah blah blah blah blah I never heard from
the month for the fucking holidays
never heard and then I moved on you know me
I move on with my life and then a year later
you're a fucking you're sitting there watching
Netflix and there's the movie
that you went to audition for and you see
who's in it you're like how did that happen
yeah it went for me to Val Kilma
I knew no yeah
of course they're just
threatening him too like we've already measured up
the guy so I mean you know
and he's trying to hold out for money
and you know they get back and forth
it's like that famous uh
three episodes of louis where
they have audition for uh
the late show they're gonna give him
David Letterman's thing and David Lynch
is like the yeah yeah he's the trainer
but it goes in there and it's uh Gary
Marshall and he's like well why don't you just
get uh you know
uh Seinfeld and he goes no you understand
we already
put an offer in for
Seinfeld. But if we can get you
for like a million and it
goes good, we'll look like geniuses,
you know? Really, they're just using
him to pawn against
Seinfeld on this episode.
That's crazy. And then
Seinfeld at the end gets it, you know?
Why are they going to go like Val Kilmer
if you don't take the road, Joey D is
no, they're not. They don't give my fuck
about my fat ass. You know,
the movie never went nowhere.
Yeah. I mean, that's the funny thing that
When you don't get something, it's not that you wish the project bad.
This is the worst when you actually think that this is going to make you something.
Yeah.
You know, we all have that when we first start in the business,
that we're going to be at the Roxy playing the drums and fucking RCA is going to walk in with Prince
and it's all going to work out or whatever.
For sure.
Totally.
But, you know, it's band stories are just to me, you know, like even the Beatles.
You know, they had a drummer, and he fucking left, and then Ringo replaced him.
Everybody knows Ringo's worthless.
Yeah.
Everybody knows that Ringo walked in there.
It was this fucking lottery.
It was like Nick Diaz walking into like Connor McGregor.
Like I said, your life changes, you know.
Just the lotto.
So it's just, I love bands.
I love how they came together.
I love, like, even the Eagles early on.
Somebody split.
Yeah.
Some of these two people, one guy couldn't handle it.
Listen, don't have a pay.
me don't ever look me up i just want to split this too much pressure that guy wants to put a gun in his
fucking mouth yeah he was the lead player that's the guy that left he went crazy actually he really
went that someone went crazy or the bass player went crazy that's who went crazy somebody went
well but they had a guitar player that left then the bass player and then they got the next
base player that's saying i can't yeah right they begin the yeah yeah and uh but that guitar
player also same was skinner they had a dude and he went crazy before uh he was he was
You know, on the first two records, they had a different guy.
And he quit, Skinnered, you know, after the second record.
They're crazy, right?
And then they fucking go free bird and become the biggest band ever.
It's nuts when people...
You know what happens?
Everybody knows that story.
You're in a band and you really think you want it and everything.
And I'll see you do, like, one tour and it's not for you.
You know what I mean?
You go, oh, fuck this road shit, man.
I miss home, you know?
You don't know until you're out there.
especially in the 70s just shit food and no sleep and those tour phone those tour buses were horrible back then they're like a gray hound with the seats kind of torn out you know just like a school bus they had 10 seats you know what it's terrible and then you find out right away who's not in it for the long haul right away because you're just like oh this guy look at them all sad over there this is arena sold out why you sad you know oh yeah most tours there's always one guy
who's always kind of the weak link or the person who's either like, you know,
they go and sit in a corner.
They're not hanging out with everybody else.
They're not drinking.
They're not doing whatever everybody's doing.
You know what I mean?
They're not being social.
And that's when you can tell it's like, all right, you know, we're going to have an issue here.
We can't have this guy be a part of our team if he's not part of the team.
You know what I mean?
If he's sitting in the corner calling his girlfriend every night or doing this and that,
like how well is this really going to work?
always the girlfriend too.
You got the pussy whipped dude, you know?
Just like, oh, man, I'm going to go home.
Well, and then we all love crazy girls, too.
All the musicians, that's like the instant attractor, you know what I mean?
So it's like every girl has mega issues with the guy that they've dated.
And the guy, of course, fucked up at one point in the relationship did this, but now it's okay.
So it's like, blah, blah, blah.
Like, that's like the story with 75% of the bands have been in a lot of that.
What a fucking.
Like when I was a kid and I heard Zeppelin, you know, I was very open.
I was raised like you.
I heard everything.
Saturday's at my house.
I heard old school Cuban.
Hell yeah.
You know, Ramba music.
There was La Lupe.
La Lupa was a famous Cuban singer who they'd done documentaries on and shit.
She was up there with Celia Cruz.
But Lalupe didn't have an anger issue.
La Lupa was one of those chicks that when she sang, she'd rip her clothes on.
Wow.
She was on Dick Cabot.
She was on a bunch of shows, and she could sing.
This bitch could sing.
They're doing a one-woman show about her in Miami and Coconut Grove.
Or they did the lieutenant from the fucking anthropologist that kills you.
What was that show on Showtime?
Dexter.
Oh, yeah.
Remember the Black Puerto Rican lieutenant?
Right.
She plays La Lupe.
Boy, the truth of Lupe was La Lupe.
And Celie Cruz were both up for the final all-stars.
They were both at the final label.
Oh, wow.
But they gave it to Sally.
Lupa went fucking bananas.
When I was a kid, I knew a Lupe.
son and Loua Loupé, my mom.
My mom hung with a lot of those musicians.
They came to my mom's bar.
Wow.
You know, I was very fortunate as a child
to have pastore music around the corner from me.
And I've said this a thousand times.
If you play the garden,
I guess the union makes you go there.
Really?
To get supplies.
Like when you go to New York, for some reason,
past...
Like, musical supplies?
Like whatever.
Like, when you walk past pastore music
and you look at the windows,
Let's face it.
Everybody has been there.
But look it up, Lee.
See what you got on past door music.
P-A-S-T-O-R-E music.
And you didn't see New Jersey.
I'm sorry, can P-A-S-T-O-R-E.
Put it up on the screen.
Still open?
Still fucking open.
Wow.
It's a building.
Okay?
And when I was, my mom's bar,
it's on 32nd in Bergen-Line.
My mom's bar was on 29th in Bergen-Line.
I always walked past there.
I would look in there.
I'd see people playing drums.
It was a guitar center for us.
Right.
Only a three-floored one.
Nice.
Okay, in the 70s.
Wow, man.
There's a YouTube clip from the store.
There it is right there, Jersey.
There's a look at it.
Hell yeah.
It's cool looking.
There's a photo right there.
Hit the photos, Lee.
Or maybe there's a video?
You know right there and to the right to see photos.
Where the map is.
Oh, yeah.
Cool.
Let's look at these photos of the place.
Oh, yeah.
Look at the drum section with all the stuff.
Look at that place.
It's cool.
It's old school.
Look at that.
There's the Congas and the bongos.
Guitar chord wall.
That's cool, man.
Oh, pancakes.
Oh, look at that.
You can get pancakes there, apparently.
The place was all.
I used to take bass lessons up on the third floor.
Wow.
When that was around 10.
Go to the YouTube thing.
See what they say on YouTube about it.
Yeah, that's cool.
So I used to, you know,
You just heard rumors.
Kids would say, right there, that YouTube video, right there right in front of you.
Yeah.
Jesus Christ, Lee, what am I going to do with you?
We is.
Oh, look.
It's like a family.
It's like a family.
You're very well-
That guy's legit.
It's reactions such as those that help to explain why past story,
music and Union City is still thriving more than 70 years after its creation.
70?
It opened in 1939 at 507.302nd Street.
the same place where it now stands.
Back then, the focus was on selling accordions and doing instrument rentals to schools,
and it was run by Jerry Pastori's grandparents who moved to the U.S. from northern Italy.
It was small.
It used to be on the second floor and the third floor.
Northern Italy, we're northern Italians.
From Italy and go there all the time.
That probably makes sense.
There you go.
The Italians taught each other.
recording, accordion right there.
Yeah, like I said.
Basically kept the same thing going.
Look at his nose just rocked from a street rumble.
I think we all got that too.
That is cool, man.
I took that we have more.
Put the volume on.
Brass, guitar, pianos, lessons.
The bulk of the customers live in Hudson County,
but people do come from other places.
Am I tripping or does that guy look super familiar?
hard guitar player who lives in Garfield.
He says he won't have his instruments repaired anywhere else.
I bring all my guitars here.
And Rinaldo does all the technical work.
Damn, I thought it was going to be some maestro.
And I get all my accessories.
He's like, I won't go any place else.
It's just like the best place on the map.
And that place was big, you guys.
His guitar doctor of choice is 76-old,
Renaldo Orlandani.
Seventy-Rolek.
Seventy-six.
For the owners for 43 years.
He not only fixes the instruments, but he makes them as well.
I get the wood.
The customer, they tell me exactly the shape of the one.
I put on the paper.
The customer come, they look at it.
If they like it, okay, if they don't like something,
then I'm the designer, we call it.
Boy, it's your coat right there.
Yeah, yeah.
Guys, I'm telling you that.
You heard rumblings as a child.
Look.
Ingveh?
Yeah, Buck Jammerle, Inveh.
Anywhere from two to three months to make.
As for the cost.
25 to 3,000 depends on the quality of the wood,
depends on the electronic.
That's Les Paul right there.
This Jimmy Hendrix guitar is one of Ronaldo's creations.
It took him three months to make it.
Wow.
It's going to cost the musician who ordered it $3,500.
That's a good deal.
Not better.
70, 1980, 85.
I used to do like 15, 20 guitar a year.
Wow.
No, maybe a year, probably five, ten a year.
The bulk of his creations are electric,
and he puts in 50 to 52 hours a week at the store.
Wow!
crafting the guitars and repairing the instruments.
But he says he doesn't mind.
Here you create,
the customer got problems.
The customer got problem, you fix, and they're happy, they smile, they live in the shop, smiling.
That's what do you want to see it?
That's how these guys live forever.
Because they work 52 hours a week making it better.
Look at this guy.
Yeah.
Did you see that guy?
Now, next to that place.
I think I might know that guy.
Next to that, right next to that place, it's still a bar.
And it was a bar since I was a kid.
Nasty always.
And then one time I went back and people, they do comedy there on Thursday night.
No shit.
So I went, I forget what the fuck the name, I went in there, and when I was a kid, there was a strip club call, the, whatever, the Betterlands Lodge where there was a chick that put a bottle up a pussy and all this shit and she had a reputation.
I go in there to do the open mic, who do you think is at the bar?
Like Jill.
Bottle pussy?
Her niece.
Oh, my God.
Her niece.
You know, and next thing you know, in a white van snort and blow, she had a white van.
I mean, it was just too surreal.
I didn't do nothing with her nothing.
We just ended up in there doing a couple bumps.
I remember going.
Did you say, man, your aunt was bottle of us?
No, I couldn't fucking say.
She knew.
She was doing the same thing.
Like a week later, I found out they're like, oh, yes, she's a dirty whore too.
You should have fucked up with her.
I just, you know, I went to school with her uncle.
It was bad enough that I saw the sister sit on a Galliano bottle.
I was a fucking one.
I was a kid.
Now I got to see the young niece.
And she was very nice, but I could tell she was a little loose cannon.
I had some blow.
She had some blow.
My friend had some blow.
We had a van.
That was it.
Nobody fucked.
Nobody sucked.
Nobody sucked.
We just went into blow,
did a couple bumps.
I noticed she had a miniskirt.
But I said,
you know what?
She's Petrillo's niece.
What am I going to get out of this?
Yeah.
I was 32, 32, 34, 33.
And that was it.
That bar was there.
And on top of that,
when I was a kid,
it was a Chinese restaurant
called a New Moon Chinese restaurant
right next to Pashtorn music.
Wow.
And my mom would actually let me walk up the block,
go up the stairs,
and I get chicken chamee,
and I just eat the crunchies.
and the white meat chicken
and leave the fucking cucumbers
and all that shit.
No cucumbers?
No cucumbers?
No nothing.
The celery.
It wasn't even cucumbers.
Nothing.
That's a great neighbor.
But one day I'm walking,
who do I see?
Fucking share.
Wow.
And the guitar or the singer from
Greg Allman?
Greg Allman.
And that was it.
Then I heard rumblings of
when people were performing at the garden,
they would have to go over there
to get there.
Since that guy's been there for 40 years,
They trust them.
And they went over there and said,
Pops, take a look at this.
I'm playing at the garden tonight, and they fix it.
So that was the rumor on the street,
whether or not I only saw two people there.
That's cool.
Well, I think that video was kind of proved to ever.
Well, that video's cool, man.
But when I was a kid, that place was hopping, guys.
When I was a kid, that place was like the guitar center,
only three floor.
I remember I used to, like, I used to go upstairs for bass lessons.
I went for maybe three months.
Then I realized the bassist is the loneliest motherfucker in the band,
always. I don't want to be lonely. I want to have friends.
Basis are always lonely.
You're a smart guy, Joey. They're always lonely.
I don't know what the fuck it is with them.
You've never, besides Stanley Clark and maybe a few others.
Even Mike Anthony from Van Houn, who was his biggest band ever still looked like he was
found. Oh, yeah. You could tell that that dude, he would just bring a party down.
You know, who else I like as a bass player? I like Stanley Clark.
You like Bill Wyman.
I got to see Stanley Clark.
Yeah, Stanley Clark was a murderer.
Cliff Williams, ACDC.
You liked him?
The guy from the Who was Menza Mort.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
John Paul was a fucking savage, you know, on whatever.
There was a lot of good, you know, and that's what it was.
I mean, it's just crazy that I got so much into music.
And if somebody would go, listen, go on Slat,
I'll tell you who else's drummer was really good when I was a kid.
I don't know if he died.
And I don't know what I went to see him on, the pretenders.
See, your dad and the pretenders and all that.
stuff. When I heard it, I'm like, why they
going with this? Pat Benetard.
We don't get a start.
We went deep. You know, where
we go with this? Where are we going with this
style of music? And like I said,
the first time, I mean, put on
mental hopscotch, you know,
I'm doing something. I'm rolling a joint.
That's the one, man. Because that's
the one that got them on MTV. That's the
one. Then it was released on an
EP. I've always
told people, them, rat. In those
days, EP first.
EP them rat.
Somebody else had a fucking EPI.
The Great White did too, I think.
Somebody else.
When they were called Mickey Rat.
Guns and Rose is that an EP?
It was the first thing
they put out with the four songs.
I saw missing persons at the S Festival.
That's awesome.
I love that video.
I was there.
I was there.
She was a plastic suit.
That's got to be the killer,
the most killer lineup,
two-day festival ever.
It was three.
It was four.
Actually, they had a country day on the Monday.
You got volume for this, Lee.
I got to put deaf people to have an organ at the house.
My dad, pouting.
Listen to this shit.
First time I heard this, I'm like, what is this?
And I turn around, look at this fucking guy.
He looks like a spider playing the drums.
This stuff was so smart, man.
So ahead of its time, dude.
Crazy, progressive drumming, you know what I mean?
All these guys are, well, most of the guys are ex-Zappa musicians.
Right, right, right.
He was like, dude, how can you go wrong?
When you got legit guys playing pop and writing pop together, I mean...
Listen to those fucking drums, dog.
I never heard nothing like that.
Remo rototoms.
Yep.
I'm pretty sure he invented those rototoms.
That's crazy, man.
And that symbol stack, too.
Really?
The first person knew that.
Yeah.
Yeah, and actually, what's really funny is...
I know you're a tool fan.
Yeah.
The drummer Danny Carey bought his actual...
of rototoms from another guy
who bought them from my dad years ago.
So he owns them and plays them live
with Tool all the time. I've seen him
play my dad's rototoms.
It's freaking crazy. Wow.
And like Danny Carey's like what
your dad is to a lot of people
to me, you know what I mean? He was like my guy
growing up.
Now your dad's straight DW own. I heard
he's always up there in Ventura shooting the
videos. Yeah, he lives in that area.
Yeah, yeah. So he
he was working on a drum channel for a long time
and he just kind of fell in love with the area
this part right here
solo I love it yeah I love all this shit
I like to say I saw this
October of 82
and then well this is like one of the first videos
they had on MTV too
this is the one they had on MTV first
so every this is 1980 right
82
and on schedule it would be like a certain time
every night so it got a lot of airplay
And that became, you know.
In those days, MTV would go, coming up this hour,
Pat Benatar, missing persons.
And right now, Blue Oyster Culp.
And they would do a day after day.
Oh, yeah, don't feel the river.
No, no, no.
Oh, yeah.
Burn out the light, right?
Oh, yeah, I'm burning for you.
I'm burning for you.
I'm burning.
I'm burning.
I love that.
Great song.
Great song.
Turn the music off.
I love the BAC for sure.
But this, what I saw this.
And singing back up like a savage, too.
He wrote like 90% of this music.
He wrote it?
Yeah.
Oh, wow.
Yeah.
Him and Warren, the guitarist, wrote most of the stuff.
And then, you know, I think Pat.
I love it too.
Right there.
Hit noticeable one, dog.
That one's killing, man.
That's live.
How does this band come together now?
He leaves Zappa, then he meets up.
No, you got to do the, do the Us Festival one, right?
Yeah, it's so great.
You want to click it, man?
Us Festival.
Yeah, I got you, man.
So, so he lives.
So he leaves Zappa and then he meets Dale and they start this?
So how's it happen?
Okay, so, no, he met Dale while he was with Zappa.
Right.
And then they decide to do a band.
Is she a singer when he meets her or no?
Yeah, well, I guess he had done some, oh, here, Us Festival, right?
What is it?
No, just us festival missing persons.
Okay, I got it.
Anyway, yeah, I guess she was traveling around with Zappa,
and he tells the story in an MTV interview, actually,
where he's like, oh, yeah, she walked up.
in the room and she was, you know, incredibly beautiful.
Everybody just stopped and, like, looked at her.
So, like, I knew I had to, like, you know, ask her out, blah, blah,
and luckily she went out with me, you know, so and so.
So, yeah.
But was she a singer?
Yeah, yeah, kind of.
But, I mean, obviously not that good of a singer from the Us Festival.
I mean, I hate to talk show on people, but whatever, you know what I mean.
Yeah, yeah, I've met her.
And she was a nice lady.
And, you know, I heard she's had some problems here and there.
I hope she's doing better whatever the deal is, you know.
I just obviously
bless the best.
Bless this.
But, yeah, my dad
kind of told her to do that like squeaking thing
because it was like, you know,
if you can't sing,
kind of fake it and like do this thing
and, you know,
made it really work because she wasn't a very trained vocalist.
You know what I mean?
But perfect for the project.
I mean,
the voice is killer.
He says in an MTV interview,
he's like,
well,
obviously the pretty girl sells the cigarettes
or the car or the whatever.
And, you know,
that's kind of what we're doing here.
You know,
she's very stunning.
and, you know, we hope to kind of just attract people.
It just says it outright like a savage, dude.
It just doesn't give a fuck.
I was here.
I went to this, Jay.
It was like 114 degrees out.
There's no trees out there, you know, and no stands.
I'm in Colorado.
Yeah.
I'm 19 years old.
I just get the Colorado.
I just get the Colorado.
I get the Aspen.
I make a few friends.
I don't snort coke get.
I'm smoking pot.
Nobody knows my little itch.
And the people say,
said to me, dogs, we're driving to this.
Yeah. Eight of us, we got a van,
another car, you chip in,
it's 40 bucks in gas maybe,
there and back, we're going to sleep on the beach.
Our friend is from Cali,
and we got tickets, if you want to go.
And MTV was going to have it.
Yeah.
And my roommates were leaving.
Like, it was like some holiday weekend.
Oh, yeah, it was Memorial.
Memorial Day weekend.
So I'm like, wait a second.
And my friend said,
if you stay in west of the house,
I'll leave you like a fucking G-bow and some weed, feed the dog.
And I was like, I'm home all alone in Aspen.
Yeah.
With a fucking German Shepherd, a bag of weed.
I'm going to drive all the way to California.
Fuck that.
And I hate it myself because I wanted to see them, the scorpions.
The clash.
That was one of the big sacrifices.
Molly crew.
Jesus.
Judas Priest.
Quiet ride.
Here we go.
Here we go.
Look at that early Simmons drums.
Yeah, man, the amount of drum stuff that my dad is innovated is insane, dude.
Really?
If you go to his website, there's a list of, like, kind of the things that, you know,
he's laid claim to just, like, coming up with just, like, crazy little things.
Like, you know, that symbol stack, everybody in modern music are using those.
The double bass pedal, him and his rodee at the time,
kind of helped develop one of the original kind of, like, slave pedal system.
Oh, really? The two pedals?
Yeah, man.
You know, just like crazy stuff like that, the roto-toms, you know.
Look at this.
This is the real, guys.
That's great.
How's there.
And you know what?
And she takes her clothes off too pretty much.
She doesn't sound bad right now.
She's selling it, guys.
Let's see her voice is cutting out there.
So what?
It's still working.
Well, who knows what all of those guys are going to do that.
Does she take it closed off before this or after this?
Before this.
Oh, yeah, yeah, before this.
Before this.
Yeah, I think play playmate and one of the other.
Whatever the other one is.
The pet house?
Yeah.
She sings better than Britney Spiris.
Damn, Dean Del Rey.
You heard it from him.
This guy kills.
I like that your dad always leaned into it like he was doing karate.
Right, right, right.
So now they come to fucking Jersey.
Me and my buddies, like all my, the overall picture of it,
wasn't missing person of it.
It was just like me and two other guys that were like,
we got the cassette.
We were making play it on the Z-28 every night.
We do blow, listen to this.
There's a couple songs.
All I want is a window to look through.
Yeah, window, yeah.
That's a great one.
I had this on my iPod, and one day, I told my wife,
just put missing, maybe like a year ago.
She could make a list of the albums you want,
I told her, and she put this album on.
I was asleep on a plane finally, and window came.
And if you hear any of my things,
I always tell people at the age of 20,
all I wanted was just a little daylight
and I could have busted out. I wouldn't have to be
a criminal. When I heard that song
a window, I would snort coke and
fall apart every time I hear that song.
Because all I wanted was a window to look through.
That's it. And then
what the ironic thing is,
no matter what time it was,
there was Veneery, my friend that's the
Assemblyman now for Jersey.
He was straight laced with a suit.
We used to make him go to Harlem.
We'd make him do a thousand things.
He's my brother. But
when walking in LA would come on,
it can be two in the morning,
and the fucking thing would be off the speakers in the car,
go past the car, we didn't give a fuck.
And I always think, look at this, 30 years later,
I'm living in fucking LA.
That was one of my favorite songs off that album.
It was noticeable one, Windows,
walking in LA, US blues, what is it?
US drag.
US drag is a fucking, like,
very innovative.
At that time, you're like,
what, we'll drive by the US drag.
You're like, what the fuck is this?
A lot of people weren't into it.
You know what, man?
Me, Veneery, and this dude, Ferni Bonsas Sudo
with leather jackets,
they were supposed to play in December
a week before Benatar.
We were going to go see December of 82.
We were going to go see Benatar and missing persons.
Saturday to Saturday.
Back to back, our fucking holiday was complete.
I got a job.
I got a job at a fucking hardware store.
called Boulevard Hardware.
It's still there.
George Murad was his name.
He was the first Arab.
So we would call him and his dad, George Middard.
We would call him his dad George Midrard in your Bahama Sound because the dad was the eyeball.
The dad watched the register and he watched shoplifter.
It was a great business.
But I got that job.
And I remember they said, we'll give me an advance.
And I went to see at Menatar like the 3rd of December.
Yeah.
And that Monday they announced missing persons canceled dates to be announced.
We already had the tickets.
Dates got rescheduled for like January 22nd.
Now, we were fired up all week.
All week long, people don't know who we were fired up about.
We're going to see Missing Persons.
Where are these guys all jacked up?
Oh, we're eating Gorilla Biscuits.
Yeah.
We're doing powder, and it was just three of us.
And we fucking go out to Newark.
You got to ask your dad.
Dad, do you remember on the Destination, whatever?
What place did you play in Newark?
I don't know the name of it.
I saw the Scorpion.
begins there though.
Oh, wow.
What year was this?
This is January of 83.
We could go right through the tour schedule.
Yeah, because I don't know.
The one place I definitely remember,
or at least know about
the East Coast Day, it was Peppermint Lounge.
But that's more than in the city.
No, this was a theater in Jersey.
Now, most people that day knew they were staying in.
Like the sun was cold.
It was one of those East Coast days.
That was fucking cold.
The driver was already starting to renege.
I don't know about going out tonight.
It was going to be blackout.
Listen, we're going.
Let's see fucking missing persons.
They canceled the first time.
We're not canceled the second time.
It was a Friday night, me, Fernie, and this kid,
the day.
And we walked in there, and it was basically extended CBGB people.
Oh, yeah.
You know, uh, for punk rockers.
Punk rockers.
Yeah.
And they took one look at us.
And we can hear you.
They took one look at us
Money
They took one look at us
And they didn't freak
But they were like
You know
Because at the time
I was a built kid
And Froney was yoke
Yeah you guys are jocs
And we were jocs
We were jocs
Yeah
And we had like
Ninth Road tickets
You know
We just walked in like
What bitches?
What?
Yeah
Get the fuck out of our seat
And all of a sudden
They had like
It was like a red lighting
But all the other bands
Out of all this flash
Junus Pri
East and you know and all of a sudden these guys came out they were very
madmanaged she came out wrapped in cellophane yeah with two pasties
the cups no fish bowls not the fish bowls but the cups that you that are
point to you or you get water at the doctor's office oh yeah yeah the cones like the
snow cone things yeah two snow cone things wrapped in cellophane all the lights were on
her you know to get your attention yeah noticeable one bam
your dad's back there.
Me and Fernie, I'm like, what the fuck?
Now, this is the funny thing.
It's all these punk rockers and all these,
and all of a sudden, I think the second song,
I forget what they went into,
we were up on our feet, and we scared the people.
They were like, oh, my God, you're not supposed to get up.
What?
We started getting up, and then they started looking at us.
And all I remember, there's three things I remember from that night.
Your dad, I remember her with the cups.
I remember how cold it was.
Like it was just and when we got back I remember how happy we were that Chan's dragging in was open
You know you always hear me talking about Chan's?
Yeah we had those days the bar would stay open so we went in there and they're like we have food
And I'll never forget it was three of us they couldn't sit us together so the Chinese guy gave us a table
Why wouldn't they sit you together?
Because there weren't three seats in the bar oh okay it was a Friday night
I thought you were like banned from sitting there no no no no we just there weren't three seats that were together so we couldn't sit together so we couldn't sit together so
So next thing, the other guy put this at the table.
I'll never forget this.
Fernie sits over here.
I sit over here and Vanieri sits here
and the waiter comes here so they could fly up this way.
And I never forget that the waiter came
and right the way we just gave it.
We had eaten there 80,000 times.
Yeah.
And Fernie now we're tripping.
I don't know what the fuck we're on.
Fernie gives him that thing and goes,
egg drop soup.
I give my menu from here.
I'm second.
And I go, wanton soup.
And all of a sudden Vanity goes to give them menu.
He goes, excuse me, do you have any chicken?
Chicken noodle soup.
I'll never forget that.
Like with a straight.
We just knocked.
Would you stop?
You can't order fucking chicken noodle soup.
It's a Chinese fucking restaurant.
Chicken noodles soup.
I'll never forget that, but I was fucking furious.
That's disrespectful.
I was furious.
I was fucking furious.
You can't get fucking chicken fucking.
And that's the last thing I remember from that show.
But after that show, I made a decision that I had seen some good drummers.
Granted, he had home team in his face.
He was in a fucking theater.
You know, like your dad was at a theater.
This is completely different than seeing Motley crew.
But at a theater level, and I saw the B-52s at that level.
I saw Ozzy's band at that level at the Palladium.
He was the best drummer I had seen.
There was something about your dad that was completely different.
So that's what really, Zappa always, the one time I put Zapp on him,
tripping on ass and he's hitting fucking bowls and symbols.
Some of it's a hard sell.
Some of it's a hard sell.
You got to go through and like select a playlist of Zappa stuff.
How many albums was your dad on with him?
I know Joe's garage.
I think it's like six, right?
I mean, at least six.
He's on the big what, the shaker booty.
Right.
For sure.
Yeah, for sure.
He's featured prominently in at least four.
And then I know maybe up to eight because there's always stuff throughout the years
that maybe he would play on just like a little bit, you know,
or like sing on something or do whatever where he has credits.
But, um, yeah.
Yeah, I definitely know, Shake Your Booty, the Baby Snakes album, what else, Zootalores.
Yeah.
It's all the...
Live in New York, you know, sleep dirt.
I think Sleep dirt was the first one that he was on.
Who went in after him?
Vinny.
Oh, yeah, Vinny.
And Vinny came in, like, the whole story about him was, you know, he, like, came in and knew the black page already, like, note for note, you know what I mean?
and just came in and played it and ripped it
and everybody was like, oh. It's funny because
Josh Freeze is a good friend of mine and
who worships your dad. Yeah, I've
known Josh since I was a little kid and
my dad's known Josh since he was a little
kid. Josh Freeze is just the god
of drums and perfect
circle and all that time. I never met him, but I did not
a great guy, played with Devo
dweasles. He's actually probably one of
the, like he's on more records than
you have, then you know. Like,
he's played with everyone from Avrilavine
to Rob Zombie, to the van, I mean, the Vandals is his band, you know what I mean?
Like all this crazy stuff, you know, to 9-inch nails.
I saw him tour with 9-inch nails twice.
Everyone.
He's, he basically,
Yeah, Lee.
You're supposed to have the headphones on.
He's got the headphones on his belly.
Look, like he's, like he's x-raying his balls.
Like he's going to give birth to a child,
and he wants the child to impart this information.
Before he comes into the world.
Lee, it's time for Tony better, Lee.
I think we need to breathe.
Lee, get a close-up of you on there.
So fucking funny.
Oh, my God.
Lee.
Double hits at liquid acid, Lee.
I love it.
Oh, yeah.
Want some more chocolate?
Do you know.
Yeah, come like to the headphones?
Yeah.
Yeah.
It's for me.
I want to be around
To pick up the pieces
When somebody breaks your heart
Some somebody
Twice as smart
Oh shit
As I
We're going deep here tonight ladies and gentlemen
Fucking Lee's making noises
But somebody who...
Capital theater.
Here you go.
Capital theater.
Okay, I'll ask him about that.
Oh, that's a famous spot.
Capital Theater?
In the 80s.
January 21st, 1980.
I'm money, dog.
You're killing him.
Money, dog.
January 21st, missing persons
at Capitol Theater in Passaic, New Jersey,
which in 1983,
you had to have balls just to even think of it.
You were going to say.
Yeah, yeah.
The sake was no fucking, uh, and I saw the scorpions there with Michael Shankman and Rainbow.
Love Drive tour or about black?
I was a kid.
I was a kid, and I'm not going to tell you I went there because I knew.
Yeah, right.
I went there because three people had tickets before and they said, you want, and I never seen the score.
I didn't know who the fuck.
Dio Rainbow?
Yeah.
Oh, I love that record.
Terro Woman?
Dude.
Oh, my God.
Stargazer.
It's only like a six-song record.
It's, or six or seven, and it's only $4 on iTunes.
You'll let me tell you something, bro, who's ever on hot, live on the water?
Yeah, that's on there.
What song is that?
That's not Rainbow, right?
Oh, I see his faith.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Is it a song?
Is it fall?
Is it fall?
Yeah, I love that one, man.
I believe.
Yeah.
I believe.
Yeah.
That's a great song.
Bound, bown, bown, bough, bong, bong, bong, bong, in the heat of that.
Lee, Lee, it's on that record.
It's going to be all right, Lee.
Rainbow, star gazer.
See if you find that shit.
That's a fucking song.
Who the fuck do you think you're dealing with here?
Some novice?
You think I just rode off the fucking banana boat?
Like, I'm going to go hang out with any trunk.
You know what I'm saying?
I did any turn.
show last year. It goes wild, man.
You got to get me on any truck. I'll get you on.
Let's do it. Oh, you're going to New York. I'll set it up.
Yeah, yeah. Well, you're doing, I'll set it up. It's only on Mondays, though, at 8 o'clock.
I'm getting there on fucking Wednesday.
Wednesday. Hey, well, maybe you can do it's Friday night show at midnight after your gig.
Done. All right, I'll text them tomorrow.
Done. I love all. You finally, Rainbow Stargazer. I think it's Stargazer.
Yeah, oh, it's so great.
A lot of people don't know about this shit.
Oh, I love that one.
This is, to me, it's a little creepy.
Like, the rest of the album is deep, you know,
listen, whenever you put Richie Blackmore on the mix,
remember, they said he was cousins with Jimmy Pace.
Yeah, yeah, just black magic and shit, yeah.
But that's why nobody ever lasted that.
He never had a fucking singer.
Every two albums, they disappeared.
Of course.
You know.
Oh, okay, get it up there, and then let me look at the track list real quick.
Okay.
Yeah, Richie Blackmore.
has played with more people than a lot of people have met.
Is he dead?
No, he's killing it right now.
They just got back together, and he found this singer who's like 30, who sounds exactly.
It's unbelievable.
Who's the thing?
Let's see this one.
Well, you got to see it.
Yeah, let's see if this is it.
Yeah, this is it.
Yeah, this is a little cozy power.
Yeah, there he is, dude.
Five foot tall.
Crank that Lee.
Cozy.
Oh.
Oh.
Yeah.
Put the headphones on, Lee.
Watch the rainbow.
Watch the rainbow.
Look at the shit.
Lee.
Oh, dear.
Yeah.
Look at that fucking backdrop.
Fringe on his fucking shirt like a fucking...
Ew.
There's no sun.
If you're not looking at this, you're not doing that.
Here it is right here.
What are you watching?
Farms.
Rest in peace.
Roll her out for D.L.
That's Don Erie.
Is it not?
Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's a dude.
That's Don Erie.
He's got Don Erie. He's got Cozy Powell.
Look at this shit, Lee.
Look at the backdrop.
And as much shit as I love to talk,
Richie Blackmore, sensational on this, too.
Listen for the solo on this.
Sensational on this song.
Put the earphones on leave, please, Raymond.
He's got to feel this in his boat.
But now he'll never make it to the next level.
When the Iranians capture him,
he'll fall apart at the scene.
Yeah, if he just gets me, dude.
Deal looks dope.
Let's go back here.
I hope, I think it's Don Erie.
I'm not sure.
Yeah.
I don't know who's playing the face,
but he's got to be a monster to be opposite Blackmore.
Yep.
So many dyes.
Go Lee, it was the power of...
Go shit.
Satan with a flesh and bones.
Here comes a solo.
Right here.
Take notes, Copsuckers.
This is the Richie Blackmore on this fucking savage.
We're going to finish the rest of his Lee.
We're going deep tonight.
Yeah.
Oh, shit, Lee, look at the fires.
Lee took his headphones off again, man.
He doesn't like the Satan music.
Satan Lee.
Listen to him.
No Richard Blackmore, no Inver Mountain Stan.
Donya, I'm taking it to murky water.
Listen to Cozy Powell here.
Watch this shit.
This is when fucking musicians were fucking musicians.
Here we go.
Listen to these fucking drums, people.
What's coming up right here.
This is what I grew up with cock suckers.
Here you go.
To the top of the world.
Golly, cuck-suck-suck-suck-o.
Leave the earphones on Lee
Don't make it tougher
You'll be fine
Breathe it out Lee
I have no idea what's happening
Breathing you don't need to know what's happening
All the soul of Italy
Compressed into a 5 foot two man
Maybe 411
I don't know
It could be anywhere in the movies
One of the best human beings on the planet
To ever have lived
For sure
Whips and chains
And with the power of strong
Leave the earphones on leave.
Tuff it out.
Tough it out.
What are you doing?
Breathe it out.
Cuck sucker.
Right here.
And why?
What a tear.
Oh, my God.
Lee, why did so many die just to see him fly?
Can you tell me why?
The backdrop changed.
Look, look.
Now look.
The backdrop fucking changed.
Look.
Look.
Look.
Look.
Look.
Oh, everything changes
These motherfuckers put together 18 concerts
For once
Sick
They didn't give a fuck
Listen the keyboard
I can't know it
This is just tremendous music
Man
I'll never let this shit go
Never
I don't give a fuck
It's so crazy
I got this on my iPod
Oh I fucking love
I got rainbows greatest hits
I love listening to this shit
On my iPod on a plane
If you're not fucking with this album
I can't be talking to you know what I'm
I'm crazy, right?
I listen to this shit on the iPod.
Sierra woman?
Yeah.
On the fucking elliptical?
Yeah.
You go crazy.
You just start marching.
I just put this on three or four times in a row.
It's eight minutes apiece, so something long.
Breathe, Lee, out of your nose, out of your mouth.
Ouch your nose!
What are you saying, Lee?
How many scars did you eat?
He only took a thousand milligrams.
I need more, yeah.
He needs more, he said.
I think I need some more.
Yeah?
I think we should start it up
How fucking great was that?
Every time we do these music
We just saw Stargazer
So I mean it only fits
I was gonna say though
You had like the best taste of music
Everything you post
Whether it's like the 90s rap
Whether it's the cameo
Whether it's the you know
The freaking
What is it
You know the tool
SoundGarden
You know I mean all that stuff
And then
We grew up on all the
music was good.
That SOS band you played the other day, that put me in a state of shock.
Well, that's the other one.
That's the early in the morning, Gap Band.
That's the one I love, man.
Jesus Christ.
If you are depressed, you listen to that song, smoke a bowl, fucking drink a little bit
of coffee, get your shit together, and the world is your bitch.
Oh, yeah, yeah, right up there, Lee.
Click that one up in the top.
Grand bonnet.
Yeah, yeah, click that one all the way on the right, all the way on the right.
There you go.
Click that one.
Since you've been gone.
Killer.
No, no, I want to see all night long.
Oh, yeah, all night long.
He's got dual wristbands.
We're in the metal wristbands.
He was probably the first drummer to do that.
Yeah, right?
With Rainbow all night long.
He's wearing like a sports jacket with it.
Watch this.
Watch this.
This guy crushes.
And all night long.
Graham Bonnet.
They fucking go bananas.
Listen.
Sangu shanker, too.
He was saying with you.
Yeah, sang with Shanker.
I have a problem with fucking Richie Blackmore.
He's like the plague.
He just fucking gets rid of people.
Where is it?
Not shake.
Not shake.
If he didn't get rid of so many people, we wouldn't have so many great bands.
Like, I mean, dude, deep purple, perfect strangers.
Yeah.
I love that one.
Jesus Christ.
No, the Alcatraz with Invee, Grand Bonnet and Inveh Alcatraz.
That one.
That's a killer.
That's a killer.
It's a killer.
I think my mom was working capital those days.
She has like an autograph.
The top one.
The top one.
Click the top one and breathe.
Will you stop one?
drink some fucking water.
Stop making noises.
We're going deep.
These man moan.
Watch this, Lee.
Watch this.
This guitar is great.
Kick this from the...
Kick this mule from the beginning, Lee.
How many milligrams am I right now?
Who knows?
Kick the volume, Lee.
Because you need the guitar.
Look at this.
Look at this.
Bavam!
Yeah.
Miami Vice look.
Damn.
Oh.
Yes.
Look how cool he is.
White.
Turn this on, Lee.
Look at Grand Bonner.
Looking better than John Travolta.
Looking better than John Travolta.
And that's the baseball from Deep Purple.
Yes, yes.
This is strong.
Yeah.
This is strong.
I don't know how long Granabana last.
A year and a half.
Yeah.
All those guys last one album.
All those guys last one album.
He's like Stallone.
He's killer.
Yeah, right?
Oh, shit.
There you go, Lee.
A little hot mama for you.
Oh, Lee.
He's sweating.
His face is red.
you need to see the doctor?
Yeah, I'm okay.
Get out.
Sit out.
Get your posture going.
You want some water?
You want to beer?
No.
Want to touch you.
Want to feel you.
Here we go.
I want to make you mind.
Here we go.
Here we go, you fucking savages.
Kick this.
Yeah.
Look at traditional grip.
Clive, uh, Cozzi Pel.
He, uh, he switched around.
It wasn't uncommon for a lot of guys from his era to switch back.
and forth.
Right, I'm pretty sure he was playing match for that last video.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
See, that's a different.
That's a different keyboard.
Different guy.
Yeah.
Look at this filthy animal.
Lee, what's the phone's out playing?
I really am.
You what?
I'm really trying.
Grand Bonnets.
It's so new wave, right?
Trying to do what?
What are you feeling?
Like what?
I want to touch you, want to feel you.
I want to make you mind.
Here we go, here we go.
Watch cozy, here we go.
And his guitar on this is great, too.
That's killer.
I love it.
Base part's killing.
You don't get much of that in rock bands anymore, that floor tom,
you know, riding on the floor tom a little bit.
Look at this shoe.
He got wrestling shoes on.
Capizio.
Oh, for sure.
All those guys were wrestling shoes.
Nico.
What was this?
what he's playing.
That guy kills.
I love Perfect Strangers.
Oh,
Ian Gillen?
We got to play that.
That is a fucking
masterpiece, man.
This is a fucking rainbow night tonight,
people.
We didn't even know it was gonna go rainbow.
Richie Blackmore night.
We were gonna talk about Bill Withers.
Thank God we got the rainbow.
Look at this shit.
Lee's done.
Lee is done.
Perfect strangers is the best.
You want to go see the doctor?
I think I'm okay.
I'm okay.
Perfect Strangers.
What's the matter?
And the music videos is like as fuck.
All right.
Lee is losing it.
Lee, put on perfect strangers.
Oh my God, it's the best.
Perfect.
I love that fucking record so much.
Guys, you're getting the fucking rainbow schooling tonight.
This is a band that had different musicians on every album.
They probably lasted like 12 years as a tyrant as black.
Lee, we don't know, Lee.
You fucking hydrant?
I have no idea.
He's too fast in waters.
Put on perfect strangers.
Perfect.
Be purple.
Perfect.
Perfect.
Perfect.
Okay.
Now, who's thinking on this?
This is Ian Gillen.
So they do rainbow.
He breaks up perfect...
Then they get back together.
Then they get back together.
Because he had half a fucking deep purple anyway with him.
Ian Gillen was like Sabatian.
Yeah, he did the Born Again record, which was fucking one of my favorites ever.
I put that on and it sounded like he was singing with a stomach cake and I just turned it off.
I love that record.
But here we got.
Perfect strangers.
But here we got.
Perfect.
P.R.
At the top.
Perfect strains.
It's right at the top there.
It's right at the top.
Lee, right there, right there.
Right there.
Right there.
Right there.
Right there.
Right there.
Right there.
Right there.
Yeah, Lee knows how to do it.
Crank that, crank that,
Mugger.
Light this mulee.
Light some incense right now.
The B3.
I just hear this.
Here's opening.
Here's when they all got back together.
I don't know what year this was.
I think it's like 84?
89?
No.
89?
I don't know. What's it say on the video?
Oh, look at this.
That's how good it sounds, too.
Oh, the Force 928.
Sick.
And they're just chilling in the mansion that they're renting to fucking do this studio.
Or do this album.
Yeah, yeah.
This is a great video.
Yeah, I forgot this.
That's great.
Chilling in the palm underneath.
It's probably in the fucking base.
Yeah, yeah.
A thousand notions.
Stub.
Yeah, they're fucking.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Sick.
Lee, put the earphones.
I got to hear this.
This will change your life.
Look how Ritchie shows up.
Hey, guys.
We'll get the band back together.
Yeah, cos he was gone.
Yep.
And look at Ian.
With the headband?
Come on.
Biker.
And he's like smoking cigarettes in between takes, too.
Sick.
We're in a Hawaiian shirt.
I know.
It was crazy.
Rockets.
Beef.
This guy didn't give a fuck.
You really?
Six girls waiting in the other room to suck as this.
No joke.
Listen, this was a monster hit.
This MTV took this.
Yep.
This is towards the end of MTV.
Totally.
This is all MTV production right here.
I am in a...
Because then they took it back to just play...
Listen to them.
Listen to Blackmore here.
Oh, you'll be talking on the way.
You've got to understand.
We must...
Remain
Perfect strangers
This part
This part's in nine
The Satan part
998 everybody
Get a music education
Right here
Right here
It's great
Total Zeppelin
I'm gonna want to walk into that bar
Yeah
Where the fuck was this
With these guys were just playing
That's in the basement
Of this fucking mansion
For sure bro
Yeah it's got a pub
Yeah, they got it all.
They got a farm, they got a fucking soccer field.
Their manager flew out the ladies for them.
They don't have to do a damn thing.
They got so much money to make this album.
Are you kidding me?
Look at the pool.
They could have skagged it.
Exercise bike.
Look at that, Joey.
See, they're on that future tip.
Singer's got to keep in shape.
But when you go on tour, you have to be in top physical life.
To sit out and look at Dean and go, Dean, we're going to be on a bus for six months.
Blow, heroin, it's four shows a week.
Yep.
We have three off.
We got a hotel.
You can do whatever the fuck you want.
You know what you're going to do those three nights because you're young and stupid.
Yeah.
And you just keep the party alive until you burn out.
You just burn out.
That's it.
And then once you burn out, you don't think rest.
know it. Once you burn out, then you call the
fellas back and go, hey, Raydon, I'm
sorry I called you a cocks suck on the last
tour. Dean, I'm sorry to hit you with the guitar
in the head. You know what I'm saying?
That's happened to me. I've
been hitting the head by a bass
headstock, you know what I mean?
Slammed right down on my head.
One of my childhood best friends, good
times. Well, there they are playing song. Now, you're
in a band now. Yeah. What's the name of the
band now? I've played a couple of bands.
The main one is
Secret Black, which is
two Israeli guys, like
legit Israeli motherfuckers.
And then the bassist
is from L.A. I'm from L.A.
And it's, they're
kind of like big fish in a small pond
in Israel, so they had enough of it. They wanted
to do some shit in America. I met them
oddly enough at this like ultimate
jam night thing at the
Lucky Strike. Yeah, yeah. I played
Rainbow in the Dark by Dio.
And the singer saw me, and he came up to me right after
and he's like, I love you're playing, you know.
You're amazing.
I think you'd be perfect for our band, blah, blah, blah,
you know, this and that.
So it told me kind of what the deal is.
Lee's tripping out so hard.
I love Lee.
I love Lee.
Because he comes and goes.
It's like perfect.
Lee will be totally normal for a little bit,
and I'll sit in here just go, oh, oh.
You hear that.
It's like a zombie.
It's like the walking dead.
I love it.
I told you this week we're going deep.
I told you to hug the girlfriend
and kiss the dog.
Fucking the whole thing.
Lee, is this the highest you've ever been?
Okay.
This is not high.
This is not...
For all the...
The quiver's going to say it's like edible.
It's not edibles.
What is it?
Oh, my God.
This is acid.
What does it feel like?
She's probably out of all sorts of crazy visions.
Oh, my God.
What do you see?
Look at the screen, Lee.
Oh, this is so good right here.
We'll turn off the lights, Lee.
That's okay.
Let me look at the screen.
Don't want to turn the lights off.
Knocking on your back door.
This song's killer.
No, Deep Purple.
This is the other hit on the record.
Knocking on your back door.
I'm knocking on your back door.
Yeah, he's got some action to the top.
It's killer.
No, they got together for this.
I don't know what tour this was.
I didn't even know he was still touring, Richie Black.
Yeah, I heard Eddie Trunk say that right now,
I just heard him say this today.
He was called Eddie Trunk.
I was waiting for the baby to come to the car.
And he was talking about how right now.
Now, every, he was talking about a percentage of band from the 70s and 80s who have gotten back together who were touring or making a living this summer.
Yeah.
He says it's a surprising fucking amount.
I just saw Huey Lewis is coming back.
Man, he's killing it.
I saw a clip last night.
Huey Lewis is back.
They're all 60 fucking years old.
Yeah.
Which somebody must have came to him and said, guys, these kids, they do their pelousers and the pelousers, and that's it.
That's where the money's at for the year.
You guys can make money all summer.
Yeah.
Oh, yeah, casinos.
And they're everywhere fucking smashing.
Yeah.
And I was, where was I last week?
Denver.
Yeah.
Red Rocks.
Somebody's going Memorial.
Yeah.
Louis and like three bands from the 80s.
Yeah.
And they're selling tickets.
He goes, it's more of a QR or a Q.
Yeah.
Type promotional event.
But he goes, let me tell you what happens.
Nice weather.
People want to get nostalgic.
and that's why I look at you and go
my friends from high school went to
see the go-go's last night down the Jersey
shore. Yeah, they got right now they got that
She called me last week she goes
Do you have a minute? She goes, I was thinking about you
Guess what I have in my hand
I think she's going to tell me a picture or something
She goes, no
Six tickets for the fucking
Go-Go's next Sunday night
The Desert women are getting back together
These girls were used to call the Desert women
That would go along
They went to see the Go-Gos
Yeah and she goes remember going
I go October of
with the flock of seagulls at the guard.
We paid $15 for tickets.
You know, we went to hear four songs.
Oh, yeah.
The Gogo's...
That's the type of music I went to.
Yeah.
Because I was open.
I was open.
I love that stuff, you know what I mean?
If you don't got love for that, if you don't got love for Dio, if you don't go
love for Tupac, you know what I mean?
Like, you got to be able to dig all that kind of music.
All that shit.
There's good in every genre.
Men at work?
There's good in every era.
Yep.
Dude.
I mean, you name it.
Phil Collins, dude.
Phil Collins is a murderer.
I tell you who I didn't see that I felt fucking really bad in excess.
I heard in 87 in excess.
They did a tour.
They were killing it.
You know, by 85, I got out of it, guys.
Yeah.
Like it would take me, you know, what became going, listen, I grew up in an era where Dean Delaware would call me at 10 after 6 and go coax.
You got a minute?
Yeah, listen, listen, listen, nobody knows about this.
the stones
I'm gonna play in the village
but they're playing under the rusty nail
and it's $3 tickets
let's go over that
my friend just called me
from the record label
you had shit like that
that made it exciting
very in those days
I don't tell people all the time
okay secret chefs
WPLJ we go
WPLJ presents
the who at Madison Square Garden
grab a pen
you send $12.95 for tickets
$15 for tickets
Postage and handling
everything is in glue
$15 dollars for tickets
It's under $60 because
Rainin's only allowed to get four tickets
for Brandon, four tickets for Dean Delray
so we'd have to scramble to borrow money
then I'd get four, you'd get four
so we'd just wait to see what night we'd get.
So it was three nights.
More than usual,
we were going to go all three nights. We were goombas
on the deal. You pay 60.
So it was something different.
There was no $82 parking.
No. It was walking up to
Sears and Roebuck and getting
the bus and that bus took you into New York City.
and you walk to the garden or you took a train.
I remember still taking a train to the garden
and seeing, like, I can't describe the feeling.
I can't describe to America that feeling of going on a train
and thinking you're going somewhere special.
But that whole car has a ghetto blast
or highway to hell.
Yeah.
Or somebody's playing weekend warriors in your life.
And everybody's singing along.
And everybody's singing on this train in New York.
To me, in 1979 as a kid, it brought tears to my eyes.
I'm like, this is what America is about.
I love it.
Even though we're getting high and half of the kids are on acid
and half of the kids are just blowing off steam
but they're not hitting each other
and not shooting each other.
They're just down the fucking concert.
And you went to the front
and nine of the ten times you waited
to the concert started.
You had it down to the time.
8.10, they got to dump those tickets.
Dog, come here, let me talk to you now.
Let me holl at you.
I'll give me this ticket for 17 there.
I don't want to talk to you.
Come on, dog.
Now you got three dudes barking at you
that weren't going to stuff.
And you catch, you miss the opening act, but you catch, as you're walking in, the band you went to see is on stage.
Now, I got to call fucking ticket box, and you look at the price of the tickets, and you go, really?
Whoa, right?
Really?
They tack on a fee, so you pay an extra $9.
And then the day that you go, you got to walk up to the thing, you know, half of these fucking places have noise ordinances.
Yeah, playing out low.
You got to play low.
You got to play until 10 o'clock and get off.
Yeah, curfew.
Curfews.
No record.
Sorry, guys.
$75 beers.
You know, I remember having a teacher, Mr. Titorra,
and he would, Mr. Taronova,
and he would tell us stories about, you know,
going to see the almonds and all of a sudden special guests
in the house, Santana.
Yeah.
And you didn't leave.
No.
You didn't leave because Thin Lizzie walked in,
and they're standing in the back, and you're like,
what the fuck?
Yeah.
I'm watching Santana, and then Lizzie's on the,
and some guys passing fucking speed out,
Black Beauty's out.
Yeah.
You know, those were that.
You didn't know.
It was an adventure.
It's an adventure.
I lost the adventure, you know.
I lost that.
Yeah.
Because I'm getting excited.
Having a date and going, let's go see Alanis Morissette.
I'll never forget this.
And the tickets were $65.
And I go, whoa.
And the girl's like, let's go.
And I go, and I go, I pay $15.50 for Floyd the Wall.
Yeah, yeah.
How can I pay $65 for Alanis Morissette?
I paid $15 for Prince, Sheila E, and Nucle.
I would have paid 15 just to hear them do jam on it.
I would have paid the 15 like, yeah, just do jam on it for two fucking hours.
You know?
You fucking men, dude.
I can't understand it.
And I know that, you know, as a comedian, you need to make money and stuff like that.
But I know what I get from $25 and I'm pretty fucking happy.
Yeah.
And I understand, you've got to travel with roadies and there's a lot of costs that I don't fucking see.
Yep.
But, you know, the Eagles, a couple of years ago.
15 years ago. They started.
Yeah, they were the $100 ticket.
$250. $250 on $96.
And people were going, they're not going to sell out.
Guess what?
The Seinfeld people paid $250 for those tickets.
That Seinfeld generation, that's when they threw Blondie out.
They took Blondie and go the first time we even see a rolling paper.
You're done.
We got a guitarist waiting to fucking replace you for $10,000 the night.
We're giving you $2.50 that we don't even want to fucking give you.
We don't give a fuck if you wrote the rips, the hotel California.
That was a long time ago.
Yeah.
That was 74.
It's 99, bitch.
You better get your clock fixed.
What's that guy's name?
Bernie, too him?
Don Felder.
Don Felder.
Who I love.
Who I love.
I always goof on him because he came back thinking it was still a part of it.
Like, guys, Hotel Cali and they're like, no, dog.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
We got suits on and haircuts.
Go get a haircut.
Take a shower.
You know, you've been in Laurel Canyon for 10 years?
And the two brothers argued, the drummer and the other guy said,
listen, man, we've been doing more.
movies. We've been doing solo
albums. You motherfuckers been living with all
for sigils because all of a sudden
classic rock came on
and, you know,
classic rock stations started playing our music.
You got a check every month. You motherfuckers
don't want to do nothing. We're fucking
Don Henley's doing this. Don Henley's
fucking Cheryl Crow. You know,
nobody remembers Cheryl Crow was in the
Don Henley band first. Yeah.
Yeah, yeah. Hell yeah. Or Michael Jackson, then
Don Henry. You know, nobody's
photo of the Eagles sits on the long
Run.
Tremendous.
Look out cool.
They look like Leonard Skinner.
They're tremendous.
Listen, they lived a fucking life.
A California life.
Joe Walsh.
How much of a badass is Joe Walsh?
He's the best.
Jesus Christ.
He's the best.
That song, man, life's been good to me.
Like James Gang, get the fuck out of here.
Yeah, Funk 49.
Oh, man, walk away.
Oh, dude.
That fucking record, I put it on all the time.
The black and white one where they're sitting on the Harle's.
Jesus, man, that record.
Like, he doesn't have to lift a finger, and he's the coolest.
He's so original, right when he comes on.
You guys, that's Joe Walsh.
Yep.
You know?
Yep.
Fucking great.
Look how we doing?
You want some water, buddy?
Can I get a little more water, man?
Sure, sure.
I'm cool.
You want to be a believer, all right?
Is he?
I'm, you got a cold water in there?
I don't know what's called.
I'll say one.
You want this one?
You want a cold or?
Oh, whatever.
You want cold?
This is fine.
Okay.
A colder one?
I got cool.
This is a new experience, man.
This is different than last time.
What's it doing to you, Lee?
Talk to me.
Tell us about your experience tonight because we want to know.
I haven't been here the whole lot.
People at home want to know.
I know.
This is the first time we've heard from you.
Tell us about what you're going through so the people at home can feel it.
Did I give the shout-outs yet?
No, I never gave the shout-out.
You tell us after we do the shout-outs, all right?
Edward Anaya, Scotty G.
Jason Valencia.
Jim Nunya.
Timmy Holloway, Jr., and motherfucking senior.
Renee Vogel Jr., Christian Aldana and Crystal and Bobby down there in Austin,
holding it fucking down for us until we get there a month from today.
We got our plane tickets today for Austin, Texas, September 15th through the motherfucking 17th.
You need some chewies for me.
Lee's coming down to fucking stand on line.
Hell yeah.
I'm not standing on no fucking lines.
My family left Cuba, so I don't have to stand on a fucking line.
I don't give a fuck, Jack.
What's up, gentlemen?
I'm happy you came on.
So thank you for having me, man.
This has been an honor.
Like, a lot of people don't realize, like, I've listened to Joey's podcast for a long time, you know, and like, where are you from?
You got an accent.
I'm from L.A.
I mean, I lived in Austin for a little while.
Is that much?
Most people say I have a West Coast accent, though.
Everybody thinks I sound like fucking Keanu Reeves.
He sounds great.
I can do that.
The kid's going to fucking trip.
I don't know what I sound like.
How dare you?
Fucking Puerto Rican Martian.
Literally so many people said, don't even worry about it.
But anyway, yeah, man.
When you're 10, what are you thinking about your dad?
I'm thinking my dad's a pretty cool guy.
Like, it's pretty cool that my dad's a drummer.
Like, I was down with that.
I was like, that's tight.
You know, I was into like martial arts and stuff, you know, as a little kid.
You know, more superheroes, all that bullshit.
Was he around?
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah, he was around pretty much until like my parents got a divorce when I was 18.
Oh, wow.
So he was around your whole time.
Yeah, yeah.
For the most part.
I mean, he was on the road a lot too.
So, you know, there was a lot of like, you know, strong connection with my mom.
That's why, like, you know, I relate definitely to Joe, you know, he had that kind of thing going with his mom and like, you know, how she, you said she brought you to music a lot of the times.
My mom would bring me to all these concerts, you know what I mean?
Take me to see every band I want.
Yeah.
Yeah, man.
So it was really cool, man.
But anyway, we're talking about my parents.
I wasn't having like, yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah, so my dad, okay.
So at 11 is when I was like, I want to play drums, right?
But it wasn't necessarily because of my dad.
I saw like a pop punk band music video, this band called Sum 41.
And they were like, you know, like kind of like playing some like punk rock shit and then like rapping.
So I was like, dang, like I'm super down with this.
This sounds tight.
Lee, throw us some cold water on your face.
And they, uh, I love Lee, man.
He's weird.
I love Rainin.
Rainin keeps touching them every time.
is like, it'll be all right.
He's a good dude.
He cares about you.
Fuck, man.
I want to make sure he's with us.
I'm cool.
I'm just like rocketing through his face.
Now, what is going on in your world?
You haven't told me.
Okay, I can tell you.
I'm right on right on.
I'm right on right now.
I have no connection.
Like, my feet aren't anywhere.
Your feet aren't anywhere.
No, my whole, like, my whole little body has just been shaking the whole time.
I saw it.
He's hard shaking.
He's bouncing his legs.
He's awesome.
I don't know.
Why?
You're sure?
How many?
The acid is just burning right through those stars.
Like, you broke your own record, so I didn't you?
Like $1,400, you think?
Who knows?
Who gives a fuck at this point?
We're just going deep into the murder.
I ate like two of those candy bars.
That's got to be 400 milligrams.
We had like four or five fucking stars.
I love how you're just totally normal.
It's awesome.
I'm used to this.
This is my world.
That is awesome.
You're like two hits of acid, 20 stars.
You're like, yeah.
So I remember.
83. And I'm just like,
and Lee's over here, it's like,
ah, ow.
I just to force my son be.
Oh, my God. You used to do this every night.
He said, he would tell me, like, he'll call me tonight
and be like, dude, I used to do this every night for like 90 days.
Yeah.
When I was 16 and my mother died.
Oh, no.
And I had all these problems.
This is how I healed.
Yeah.
I healed.
Lee is dropping up.
Huh?
Like, I haven't stopped vibrating.
I would go home and be cooking on this and then get a grandma
a blow and listen to Black Sabbath and cry going through changes yeah i would put on the wall
and cry i'd put on uh oh you're sore tomorrow you know the first Aussie album oh yeah yeah yeah that was
my word are your muscles tensed up i think so uh this is my world guys this is what people
i love it dude this is why i love it i think he needs another star i think that people think we
fuck around. Yeah. And I think that a lot of
young kids, you know, a couple of years ago
I went on Doug Benson and fucking smoked
80 bonn hits and people looked at
me like, you know, okay, so now
we got that cut. You're a fucking savage.
Yeah. Like from un...
How did this come about? Because
I'm 53. Yeah. And I've been
doing this since I was 16. Never stopped.
You didn't have a dry period?
I went to prison.
Right. And in prison I didn't do blow,
but I did a couple hits acid.
Oh, they had that in there. I didn't have that in there. I didn't. I
It was like you.
He was a dude with glasses.
He had killed his wife and the mailman.
And he was this fucking smart guy.
And one night, he was like, I got acid.
He was like a hippie guy.
Like a grateful dead guy.
Yeah.
You know, when I was growing up, acid was two bucks.
Yeah, it was dollar.
You could always come up with two bucks.
Yeah, I remember that.
You know, I got a buck.
Can you buy me a buck, dine?
Yeah.
You owe me a buck, sucker.
And I'm buying you a beer tonight.
Yeah.
You know, and you bought a beer.
Change your life for two bucks.
Two bucks.
And you would go home and listen to music.
You know, you would handle yourself.
And the first couple times it was rough.
You'd lose out, you lose it.
But you lose it with your friends in public, and they would control you.
Yeah.
You know, I'm a downtown dude.
Those downtown dude with dirty Irish dudes.
But there was like Carlos Perez and Anthony Sabatino.
And there was a time when we were snorting that fucking angel dust.
Oh, yeah.
And you could call it whatever you want, THC Crystal, whatever they called it.
Today, it's angel dust.
It was now today.
PCP, right?
Yeah, it was PC, it was horse tranquilizer that they would boil and it would look like Coke.
Yeah.
And you would get for $10.
I smoked that shit.
It was unbelievable.
$10.
Me, you and Dean would fucking see the devil.
For five hours, we would disappear.
And then for another three, we would know who we were and where we were.
But everything was shaky until about 10 hours later.
Like, if you smoked it, like I smoked it once in a joint with a pregnant chick in Harlem at once.
at lunchtime.
And at 10 o'clock, I was in a bar still, like, fucking tweaked up.
And then I remember one time dipping a joint formaldehyde.
That was big in the 70s.
People selling you joints from formaldehyde, it tasted.
Lung burner.
Yeah.
If you were going to get fucked up, your lungs were never going to be the same.
Like, my lungs were never the fucking same after that.
That's why I blow those clouds.
My lungs will never be the same.
You know, and people don't understand that.
Like, I would buy 100 hits of acid.
And in the budget, I wouldn't know I was going to eat 20 of them because my tolerance was so fucking high.
And then I went on a quailude binge for a year or so.
When most people were eating one quailude, I was eating three, three and a half.
And I had a bunny Fernie who was eating seven and eight.
Whoa.
He had his tolerance up.
You know, there were people that were passing out on one.
Yeah.
And I had a friend that would pop them all that long.
Wow.
He was popping them like they were going out of fucking style.
Yeah.
Guerrilla, they keep popping him.
Driving a fucking 280 Z doing 90 on Kennedy Boulevard.
Yeah.
Eating fucking quailudes.
And I'm sitting there going, we're going to crash this fucking car.
He would buy Coke and cut it so much and only he could snort it.
And it was like sheetrock.
It was like snorting sheet rock.
I remember the next morning I woke up and my fucking nostrils were glued together.
I couldn't breathe.
I had to call him up for any.
What the fuck are you selling?
Yeah, what is that?
What the fuck is that?
What do you cut it?
Oh, I cut it seven for six.
Seven for seven.
What are you fucking crazy?
You know, one of my nose is stuck fucking together.
Just baby-linson.
A gram or two.
You know, I get it.
But fucking seven for seven, you give me 42%.
Nobody had Sergio Lovecote.
He's making a million bucks on an eight ball.
It was fucking unbelievable.
He turns an eight ball into seven eight balls.
And then I remember my buddy's doing a gram.
Like in those days, what do you got to read?
I got a G from leaving.
I got a G from Lee.
What do you got?
You got a G?
Okay, let's go get some beers.
You know, whoever, like at the end of the night, you would come home and go, you know, I still got half of that.
I didn't do mine.
And you're like, really?
Let's go back to my place.
But bring those two broads.
And all of a sudden, you got like three quarters of it.
You're like, Jesus, didn't you do anything?
You're like, no, I told you.
I didn't do any.
And you're like, all right.
And all of a sudden, I went to Aspen, and my buddies would get eight balls.
And I just trained myself.
They would go, we're going to get an eight ball.
The guy's coming in, you know, you got to get an eight ball
because he's not coming in for another two weeks.
Two weeks.
I'm going to need an eight ball tomorrow.
What do you mean two weeks?
I do an eight ball every Friday.
Yeah, absolutely.
Before I got arrested, it got to the point that I was doing an eight ball just to get started.
Yeah.
Like my tolerance before I got arrested, oh my God.
And then I took a breather, two or three-month breather, four-month breather.
Then I started up again.
Sorry.
And I went deep.
And before I got sentenced,
I was doing four grams a night from 12 to 8.
Who am I going to lie that?
I'm going to lie there.
I had a Coke dealer.
I lived downstairs.
And he hid it in the jacket.
And he would put an ounce in there and freebase it.
Yeah.
So he would know what he was doing.
So I saw him freebase and I'd just go take an 8 or 7
because I knew the next morning he was going to wake up and go,
man, I weighed my shit this morning.
I only have three grams.
I smoked a lot.
I smoked a lot.
I do that to him constantly.
Constantly.
It was sickening.
Then I got locked up and I came out
and I was even worse because when I got locked up
but I didn't do shit for 14 months.
So the whole time I'm like, I'm off of it.
Fuck, no.
As soon as I hit fresh air,
I was like, do I got to do a line of fucking blow.
This air is fucking my nose up and shit.
And I went right into it in the halfway house.
And I never stopped after that.
Like by 90, I just had a talk with my zone.
And I was like, listen, who are you kidding?
Who are you kidding?
You're going to keep the home blow.
It's in your blood.
You love it.
I accept it.
I'm a junkie.
I accepted it.
Once I accepted, I was a junkie in 1990, got into comedy.
Like, I knew.
I used to put it away in my budget.
Like, at least you know.
There's people who keep saying, I'll never do this shit again.
I'm never hanging out with you guys.
Yeah, yeah, right.
Two weeks from now, they're at the rainbow.
Hey, man, what's going on?
I thought you were cleaning soap.
I gave it a shot, but it sucks.
Yeah.
Your friends don't call your back.
It sucks.
When you're in the heat of it, it's tough to get out of it.
We're bored.
Oh, yeah.
There's a point in your life and addiction that you're like, you couldn't even imagine that world.
Yeah.
Like, what are you talking about?
Like, listen, here, the Dears house, we start over an A ball and an eighth of weed, you know, and you're like, what?
Like, that was already, like, in the, I used to tell Lee, I used to, when I was a $15 comic, like at the store, like, early on, like, you're getting 45, you're getting three, four spots.
a week, that's $60.
I wouldn't get the main room in those days.
I wouldn't even ask, because I would eat dick in there.
She would be walking by.
Yeah.
Why take the chance?
Yeah.
He's over there moaning and groaning.
You're all right yet?
I have no idea what's happening.
What's happening?
Nothing.
Zombie Lee.
What do you mean?
No idea what's happening?
Sit on.
Sit up.
Sit up.
Talk to me.
Are you seeing anything right now?
Your eyes are closed.
What are you saying?
What are you seeing?
Well, he doesn't have his headphones on six.
not really hearing.
What are you seeing?
So many lights.
What are you seeing?
So many lights.
I know, I know.
You want us to turn off the lights?
I told you.
You want me to turn off the lights?
What's 10 if you want?
Okay.
I like the vibrating leg.
Oh, my God.
We'll put the light off.
Oh.
Is that me?
No, it's like.
Is that me?
By way of you.
Is that me?
I love it.
I don't know if I'm shaking that much.
You ain't shaking that much.
You're fine, though.
Is he really shaking?
He's going like Hopper from
Bambi.
What's wrong with you?
Do you want to go for a walk to the park?
Like Owen Benjamin?
No.
I'm going to take you the car and drop you off somewhere.
You can walk back.
No.
Just want to sit there and relax.
This is better.
All right.
You know, you're the boss.
You tell me what you want to do, we do it.
I'm fine.
I'm just an experience.
But why are you making noises then?
I have no idea.
I'm sorry.
I'll be of myself.
You're what?
I'm meeting myself.
You want another bong hit?
What do you want?
You want a star?
He mirroled himself.
Turn yourself back on.
What's up, man?
I'll take a star of a bong hitcher.
Fuck it.
Take a star.
I'm not trying to be a bit.
I'm not trying to be a pain in the ass either.
No, you're not being a pregnant.
I don't know if I make it.
I really just don't hear those noises.
I'm trying to go as deep as anybody has ever gone on this podcast besides you guys.
Fuck yeah.
This is the only way to do.
It's Monday night.
What do you want?
I want people to wake up on Tuesday morning and go, those guys are alive.
Those motherfuckers are alive.
They're talking about music, the purple.
fucking drugs and addiction
fucking prison I'm telling you
by 95 I had already
in my head this ain't stopping
like the seven nights in a week
I'll live with if I can snort three of those
nights I'll be happy
one that I even snort a half gram
just to have conversation at the bar
I ain't gonna go to a bar without a package
no way there's no way
I'm gonna sit here by my
and then I think after like 2000
I just went in seclusion with it
I was telling Josh Wolfe we were talking about
I didn't even want women at that point.
Because, wait a second.
If you come over, first off, if you're going to have to be there 10 minutes,
I'm going to ask you to do something.
Yeah.
Because that's how I thought in those days.
And after that, I'm not going to want you around.
I got to figure out how to get rid of you.
Yeah, so you can just go back to snort and blah.
Just go back to snort and blah by myself, by my lonesome.
And then when they just said, why go through all that?
Just don't even bring them home.
Yeah.
Wack off, look out the window, you know, get paranoid for an hour.
And then just fucking shoot alone in your hand.
He's the one of these are
Fuck was that
You know
Looking out the blind
I heard something
You checked the door
Not lock like three fucking times
Yeah it's locked
Back is it locked
Did I lock it?
Yeah you just checked it
I've never remember
Let me ask you something
I saw a video of you doing a solo
In Japan Japanawa
Yeah
Oh that was no
That was in Mexico
At a Japanese music festival
Oh okay
But that was in Tijuana
we played to a sold-out crowd of 5,000 people,
which was pretty fucking tight.
That was the biggest crowd we ever fucking played to.
Which band?
Another band of mine, the BMP,
which is kind of like, you know,
we kind of just do every genre.
You know, like the Secret Black is more kind of straightforward rock,
like Guns and Roses meets Pearl Jam meets, you know,
a little bit of the more modern stuff.
And then, yeah, this BMP band,
we literally do everything from jazz to funk to death metal to reggae,
you know, but everything kind of fits.
You know?
And then I got another band called the Big Guys, too, which is like a...
How many fucking bands you got?
Dude, drummer's got to stay employed, man.
We gotta fucking keep that shit rotating.
And it's fun to play in different bands, too, because, like, it's hard to get your rocks out, just playing one...
How do you remember all the songs?
Oh, drums fucking easy, dude.
I remember, like, I mean, all the bands I'm playing in now, for the most part, stuff is easy.
I used to play really progressive music when I was younger, like...
Insane amount of notes.
Oh, yeah.
Like tool, but I mean, even more, like, crazy and fast than that and, like, try to really
do some insane stuff for a while.
But tools where I really, like, kind of cut my teeth in that progressive world.
I actually, me and my guitarist at the time, James, got to hang out with Adam Jones, the
guitarist, and Buzz from the Melvins.
They were jamming with my dad and Pat from Mass.
Pat Masselotto from King Crimson, who's an insane drummer.
Two drums, two guitars.
They were doing it in Austin, and it was something that never kind of really saw the light of day
just because everybody kind of got busy.
Different things happened, you know what I mean?
But that experience of being around Adam, man, like he shaped my life.
Like at that age, I was 14 going into high school.
He told me, hey, don't do drugs, don't drink, play from your heart, don't get cocky, you know.
Adam said don't do drugs?
Yeah, when I was 14 years old, you know what I mean?
And I stuck to that mantra until I turned 21.
And then I was like, all right, I'm going to see what this drinking thing's about.
And then, you know, I just let my life be free from there.
But like that, I owe him so much for that because it made me take music more seriously than anything.
Like, I wasn't going to parties in high school.
I went to a really rich, preppy, white Christian, Republican, Texas high school.
And I was a metalhead with fucking long hair.
Are you moving in Texas?
Yeah, yeah, when I went to high school,
or when I went to school, for the most part.
But, yeah, man, like that whole experience made music kind of come first.
You know what I mean?
We rehearsed every night instead of going and partying and doing this and that.
I really owe him a lot for that.
Was your dad living in Texas?
Yeah.
Yeah, we were all living over there.
What part? Austin?
Austin, yeah.
Oh, I got you.
Yeah, and that was the only place we could live.
But after the quake in 94?
Yeah.
After the quake in 94, I was just about to start school.
They were like, man, school system in California is like 48th in the nation at the time or some shit like that.
Texas was like number two.
And the district we were in, hence all the rich white Republicans was really fucking awesome.
It was really good high school.
But so much I've done with that diploma, you know what I mean?
Are you a full-time musician now?
I teach lessons.
I teach drum lessons as well.
And then I every now and then do a little bit of alcohol delivery to make some Mexican.
extra cash on the side because
what do you do that make money like a liquor store yeah yeah with uh with like an app like uh one
of those like it's kind of like an uber type thing but Uber booze you know what I mean yeah
a lot of Coke heads yeah I mean a lot of like repeat offenders a lot of people who are you know
come to the door like not knowing that they just ordered Uber like 15 minutes ago you know what I
mean oh or whatever whatever the thing is called yeah I don't want to get a but but yeah anyway
That helps supplement the income because hopefully one of these days,
these bands are going to kick off sooner than later.
I just started this secret black thing a little while ago.
So I feel pretty confident in that we've got a lot of opportunities.
I think we're going to be playing Israel next month,
which is going to be tight because they're going to fly our asses out
and hopefully put us with a tight band opening for a really cool band.
I can't really say who it is, but if it does come true,
it's going to be insane.
and I'm really, really excited about that.
So, you know, it's like life is, you know,
especially as a musician as a comedian,
you guys all know that stuff, you know,
it's full of like ups and downs and the, uh...
Yeah, it's just as long as you're happy, man.
Nothing else matters.
Yeah, I stay afloat just playing, man,
and that makes me happy as hell.
As long as I can play, I get to teach,
I get to, you know, do a little bit of side work
every here and there and make it all work.
But I love my life for sure.
I'm happy as hell right now.
I got no complaints.
You know, I'm on one of my favorite podcasts of all time talking to two of my favorite comedians.
And Lee Siyadh over here is tripping off his fucking ball.
That second hit took him.
You got to see, before I looked at him, his eyes are all big.
Oh, yeah.
He had to look like fucking Walter Brinkley before he shot John Lennon.
That same type of look.
You all right, dog?
You want to get some man?
I don't know.
Fucking dreams come true, people.
I've dreamt about this.
I've visualized this and fucking it happened, dude.
I can't fucking believe it.
Well, the day you hit me up and said,
I can't believe you said that on Rogan's podcast about my dad.
My head almost blew up.
Yeah.
My fucking ad almost blew up.
I'm like, Twitter is filled with the most interesting people.
You don't know what the fuck you're going to write.
You don't know who the fuck you're going to.
How you doing?
You came out of your coma, Lee comes up every eight three minutes.
Yeah.
Lee, what do you think of a nice burger from Denny's will bring you back?
Sure.
With a raw onion, cheeseburger, a little pickle?
What do you think?
I did some Denny's yesterday.
Huh?
I'm not hungry.
Well, this is how you kill that Sid by fucking eating a cheeseburger from Denny's, some grease.
You got a laugh at a waitress because they're all retarded at Denny's.
You got, oh, we go get you some wings with blue cheese from fuck into the place.
What would you rather have to take this Sid down right now?
If you had to eat something, you want a potato taco, it's closed.
It's 10.30 at night.
So you either got Denny's, you got NoHo, or you got the 10.
chicken wing place. What would work for you? Look at them. It's a thousand dilemmas. He's sweating
in the arms. I have no idea what you're saying right now.
All right. Don't worry about it then.
Tacos are good. Let me get the,
let me get the copies. He said,
tacos are way bad.
Well, dude, I'm glad that
I'm glad we were able to connect, man. This really
means a lot. Listen, man, I know you're a music guy.
I've been watching you and I know that you
were just in Austin.
Yeah. And before that,
you were somewhere and I see you posting
pictures. When you're not posting
pictures, you're going to shows.
So I know you're living the life, okay?
Hell yeah. Everybody thinks that
you put a nose ring on,
you go to a fucking 10 cents
jacket, you can put a leather jacket
on, and you're a fucking musician
nowadays. And they don't know, it's like comedy. It's like right now
is the biggest comic boom we've ever
had. Buy it.
Hell, it. Oh, acid fart for you.
Oh, acid fart.
Yeah, so.
Acid fart, me.
He's not even in the vicinity
and he's already...
You got to smell a fart on acid.
Your life will change.
You'll start thinking
about how gas is made the asshole.
Oh, shit.
That came out of me.
Just looking like the crab nebula
in his brain.
Holy, Monday night.
On the fucking church,
you don't know what's going to happen.
You don't know what's going to happen.
I've been telling you that for years.
You giggle.
We don't giggle here.
We're in training.
What the fuck is happening?
Nothing.
Nothing.
The devil came to visit us.
The devil came to visit.
Every once in a while, you're...
This is the...
This is...
Okay, okay, okay.
Marshrooms is, like, kind of like...
That's what we need to do now.
Mushrooms are kind of cool and vibey.
But what is this?
What's going on with you right now?
What are you hearing?
Anything but that.
Anything but that?
It's like rock...
I'm feeling.
I'm feeling all the rock and roll you're talking about.
You're feeling it?
He feels the rock and roll.
See?
I love what he said.
Mushrooms are cool and vivy.
How are you feeling on this?
Nothing but that.
None of that.
That's awesome.
What do you feel, Lee?
Are you seeing shit?
Yeah.
What are you seeing?
Just colors.
Like what type of colors are you seeing?
We're going out after this?
You should look at the sky.
The other drive, Lisa.
I'm not driving nowhere.
I'll drive the Volkswagen.
I'll teach you how to drive.
The little Hitlermobile is shit.
We'll fucking be doing 90s around turns.
We're gonna fucking tacos al-Mambo.
What's your place over there you like?
The lizard meat.
They're open.
I've lived there.
I haven't gone there forever.
The lizard meat.
Oh, yeah.
He kept eating lizard meat.
I can't lose weight.
Yeah, because you know lizard meat.
Where is it at?
Right around the corner.
They got this picture up there.
Because he does tacos out of comfortable.
Because he goes out of comfort.
Because he goes.
You go over there, the windows are filthy.
Lee goes over there.
He found the place to make $1.25 tacos.
He got his dad sick.
Everybody got sick.
Lee's a billy goat like us.
Lee could either scab off a fucking dead dog's knee.
And he'll be fine.
Lee's like Mad Max.
You guys ever go to salsa and beer up there?
Yeah, tremendous.
But just a big line and you always feel like I'm going to get shot.
Yeah.
It's at the fucking, you know, every time you go to salsa and me,
you got to go in the fucking morning.
You got to go in the morning.
You know, they were like afternoon after church.
You go to a restaurant and you think you fucking Paul Costalano.
Like, I'm going to get shot in this fucking.
It's dark.
Yeah, you're just in the corner, man.
But they give you the spicy bean dip.
Oh.
That's the problem that you don't even want to eat.
The flautas, my man.
The floutas with the Chipotle sauce.
No, even when you're just sitting there, you just sitting there.
You just sit in there.
You know, Chinese places bring your duck sauce, mustard and noodles.
This place brings your chips and this bean dip.
Oh, okay?
I love being dip.
But the spicy bean dip with a unique taste
And as soon as you dip it, you're like, God damn,
bring me another one.
And next thing you know,
they bring you this fucking absorbent meal.
And meanwhile, they got Mexican music playing in the back.
But when you get out of there, it's a fucked up neighborhood.
Yeah.
Where's it at?
That's where my rehearsal space is.
Where's it at?
Like Sherman Way and Lancash.
Lancash.
Oh, yeah, over there.
Yeah.
So.
But that's how I know.
Like, I take all the bands that I,
hang with or people who come jam with me it's like we got to go to salsa and be out of
great margaritas yeah they got what time they open till 11 or something they usually open pretty like
almost i want to say midnight some nights and then not only that but any kind of hangover
whatever kind of party you've done you go there that next morning and you eat that food you're cured
you're cured they got they got the hangover food away after 100% i love it man yeah yeah
salsa and beer dude oh now when you know so you have you have rehearsals with different bands
a couple nights a week.
Yep.
And then you play with them weekly, monthly.
Yeah, I try to play at least one gig weekly,
and usually between all the bands.
I can try and make it work.
But it's all dependent.
And then I try and find, you know, freelance stuff too.
Like I'll jump on a tour last minute.
Somebody will say, hey, we need you to fly to North Carolina tomorrow
and learn 12 songs.
Can you do it?
Yeah, sure, let's do this.
I'm listening to the shit on the plane.
You know, they have the kit there for me or whatever, you know,
start take it from there finish the tour out drive home you know whatever so i've i've kind of done a little
bit of all that or you know sometimes i'll do just like one off we'll do like a weekend somewhere you know
or uh you know a couple dates just in in one place studio work doing studio work man i don't do as
much studio work uh i would like to get into a little more of that but man i feel like
l.a has so many killers yeah they got like josh freeze does it on then if he can then you
Greg Bisonette.
You got Jim Keltner, who played on everything, everything in the show.
He played on all the steely dance, or a lot of the steely dance stuff.
Neil Young, Harvest.
I mean, dude, should he play with the Tom Petty stuff?
Yeah.
I mean, dude.
Kelner, that guy's got this just feel, man.
He just comes in.
It's just like, he's on every record you love.
He probably played on the Joe Walsh, you know, solo record.
What do those guys do?
They do the studio album.
and they don't tour.
Yeah.
Some of them tour.
Some of them do it all.
You know,
some of them kind of keep busy
with a lot of it.
And that's kind of,
most modern guys do a little bit of studio,
a little bit of touring.
They usually have a band or two
that they play in town with
or that they will play out with.
Then they teach a little bit too.
You know,
try and kind of spread it out.
And that's the best way to make money doing that stuff.
Kelton is pretty old now.
Yeah.
Oh, Keltonner probably doesn't need to teach,
You know, like those guys I mentioned,
they, for the most part, just do studio or Tories.
They can play for whoever they want to, essentially.
You know what I mean?
It's great.
The only reason why I didn't become a comedian
a musician that I'd give it a shot is because I knew I would pawn.
Pond your gear.
I always knew.
I would pawn my gear.
Yeah.
That's a real.
I had a couple guys at that in the band.
I'd know people like that.
I'd know people like that.
And then we're going to start a band.
And I got to pawn it.
And I just thought, you know,
It's just too much.
I have to have this guitar,
and then I gotta have one of those snub-nosed things,
and I'll pawn that.
I'll start that fucking thing.
And upkeep, you know, strings, this and that.
And I just didn't, you know,
the toughest thing for me is that you know
the type of individual you are.
And the thing I could never imagine
that I learned early on,
because I got so,
and I felt so in love with the bands,
and I went to see Pink Floyd live from Pompey,
and I went to see all those concerts,
films from the 70s.
Cosby Stills Nash had a few.
And one thing I learned early
on that it was a fucking...
It's six fucking guys. It's five guys.
It's four guys. It's three guys.
I got to control. I'm not control.
But if you want to do this,
there's always going to be one fucking moron that you've got to go
wake up every morning.
Totally. He's at some girls' room and you've got to call
him, like, almost famous.
Always late. There's always late.
You know. So one guy's a junkie.
Yeah, the one guy's at John.
I used to have a friend, Damon, and he used to be friends with these guys in L.A.
that had a tremendous band.
They were, like, playing around, but they sold music to commercials.
Two of their songs got picked up by commercials.
That's good money.
They got great money, and then they couldn't find the guitar play.
The guitar player disappeared downtown with the $100,000.
Oh, all in his arm.
Perfect.
And, you know, they couldn't find them.
And then Damon would tell me.
What are you doing tonight, Damon?
I got to go down and find Dickie downtown.
Under the bridge downtown.
Yeah, I got to go babysit now.
But the guy's brilliant.
He knows hard music.
You know, that's what...
There's always that guy in the band.
It's crazy.
Okay, but listen, we'll hire him,
but once, you know, you have to keep them clean.
You know, that's...
And the bands of the 70s,
like when Guns and Roses came on the scene in 88,
I'll never forget when they showed up at the Grammy's the one year.
Yeah.
The next day America was just in shock.
Yeah.
Like you were too young, Ray.
You weren't even thought of.
But I remember, no, when Guns and Roses was out.
I mean, what?
At least 90 was.
Yeah, illusion records.
Yeah, so I mean.
91, 92 of the illusions.
Winter in 80, 91.
Like, I remember vividly seeing Terminator 2 in the theater when I was like,
probably what, two or three years old.
Like, I have weird, crazy memory goes back a long time.
So, yeah.
I could go back to three, three and four.
Yeah.
I can go back to.
My mom said I would always say because I had like a really, you know, I was a little kid.
I was a little kid and I was like, slash.
I love slash so much, you know, and be so into it.
Yeah, I mean, I grew up on all that stuff, dude.
All the hair metal, all the, you know, grunge rock.
Your dad played with John Dawkin.
Yeah, yeah, he played some sessions for Don Dockon and X, Y, Z.
X, Y, Z.
Yep, yeah, yeah.
I mean, my dad's played some sessions.
Well, your dad is, this is what, now do you write also like?
A little bit, yeah.
I'm more of like a salt and pepper guy, you know what I mean?
Like, come to me with a song, I'm going to change it up, I'm going to add something.
I'm going to say, hey, how will we do this here or do that there?
I write a little bit, but I don't really, I just like compile ideas for the most part.
I have like, you know, the iPhone voice recorder.
Right.
Like 200 probably song ideas, but I haven't really taken the time to get this keyboard from my computer.
You know, do that, man, because that's where the money is.
Yeah, and that's the thing.
I'm really lucky with every band that I'm in.
They let me co-write stuff, you know what I mean?
It's never an issue like that.
So, any noise that I'm making, I know whatever you're saying.
I don't know.
I thought he was.
The weird thing that you said something very, you said something very interesting,
then we'll get everybody out of you.
I know it's late.
You said something very interesting before.
We were talking about missing persons,
one of my favorite bands.
that just took my head somewhere else.
It was interesting what happened
between our friends.
Like I had these friends that were into the kinks
and the stones, but I always thought they were into the music
their brothers liked.
Yeah.
Like, they would show up at parties and go listen to this
and I go, this is fucking terrible.
Yeah.
But you couldn't really say to them
because my brother thinks it's fucking great.
Yeah, yeah.
Whatever.
The brother or whatever.
Missing persons was like,
like, there was a couple bands that just
you went to see with people
and your friends ago,
where you went to see who?
With who?
Who the fuck would go see those?
I remember going to see the Flock of Seagles.
It was a Tuesday night.
We got two options on Tuesday.
We could take a hundred and snort a gram that we don't have
and gamble and do stupid shit.
Let's take 15 bucks.
Let's get a half a gram, at least,
between the three of us for a little taste.
Let's get an eight pack of a bud,
and let's get a little bottle of Blackberry brandy.
And let's go see fucking Flocka Seagles and the go-goes.
You know.
Yeah.
That was me with like,
I loved all that shit.
Yeah, Devo came that year.
The knack?
I didn't go see the knack.
That's how I got to see Pat Benitov.
What do you got to lose?
I got two options.
I could sit at this bar with these fucking morons and become them.
Yeah.
Or go see some live music.
And they had songs.
That's why.
I went to see that band.
They had three jams for a black band that at the time,
whenever I was going through, destroyed me.
And they would play, like the peppermint lounge and stuff.
would do a little New York tour is the SOS band.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And they have just be good to me.
They have like three songs that are monsters, you know.
That's the one, dude.
What else they have, Lee?
Just the SOS band.
They had two songs, oh, baby, do it right.
We can do it, baby.
Oh, yeah, yeah.
Do it tonight.
Yeah.
Baby, we can do it.
That's a killer song.
You know, like, fucking monsters, dude.
Take it all night.
Take your time.
Just be good to me.
Just be good to me
Go hit that greatest hits
Let's see what they got on here
Number two
Greatest hits so we can see the songs
Let's see here
Pop it down here
No not full screen
Not full screen
We need to see that
Yeah we need to see that
Oh there it is right there
Oh yeah
Oh yeah here's the track right here
Yeah
Just be good to me
Put the earphones on Lee
You gotta feel this shit
This is
You what
No, you're fine.
Put the earphones on.
You need the music.
Look how many views this is.
We do a cover of this with the big guys.
You do?
It is a instrumental cover, yeah.
Wow.
Yeah, it's pretty tight.
Turn it up, Lee.
This is good.
Look how many views it is, Joey.
Killer.
These are black people, black people.
They didn't care about Academy Awards.
Nothing.
They just want to.
Played pianos and shit.
I'm telling them.
They just wanted somebody to be good stuff.
This is a great lyrically song, man.
Sure.
You know, rip this off.
Mr. Taylor.
Bobby Brown.
This is so fucking good.
This is tripleter of me.
Oh, shit.
Whenever you win me.
Ooh.
I think I always talk about reputation.
Oh, shit.
There we go.
Cocksuckers.
I don't care about your other girls.
Just be good to me.
With a picture of Trump right here.
Fucking tremendous.
I saw that.
I almost died.
Lee, Trump is watching you guys like that.
Trump knows you're on assing.
I don't care.
Just be good to me.
All right, cut this, Lee.
Let's do some commercials.
Dean, you're a legit badass vocalist as well.
You know what I mean?
Insane.
You haven't even heard of the ACDC.
I have.
I have.
He's fucking insane.
Lee wants to hear him sing A-C-D-C-D.
Turn the lights.
Great.
Great.
We need to.
I'll play drums.
I got my sticks in the car.
I'll win some A-C-D-C.
And we'll periscope.
Lee, is that your phone going off?
I don't know.
You got the light.
The flashlights on.
Lee's looking for his brain.
He's got the light on.
I'm looking for his brain.
Oh, my God.
Just be good to me.
Yeah, man.
Who's texting?
We're not to jam one day.
We'll have to do that lucky strike there.
Don't be lying in a easily.
Oh, my God.
Deep purple, perfect strangers.
Yeah.
Joey, you'll have to come out to that.
If we do Deep Purple Perfect Strangers together.
Amen.
That would be great.
I know you hate that stuff.
No, no.
I love to see it.
If you guys are doing it, I'm doing the jam on the 29th of August at the Roxy Teeter.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah, yeah, you are.
Yeah, I saw that.
I'm singing fucking killing in the name of.
Oh, yeah, killing in the name of.
Oh, that's going to be great.
I'm going on.
Oh, that's going to be great.
You cock suckers, I'm killing in the name of.
Forget about it.
Oh, I can't wait.
Remember, it's not how many people you kill.
It's who you kill, you understand.
Oh, that is great.
I got a plan.
I got a plan.
I might rip the shirt off and have sucked my dick on my stomach and fucking
rip my pants off and have boxers shorts with my nutsacks hanging out.
Just take it to the next level.
It's going to be a killer.
With some Rob Halford boots.
Yes.
Just go for fucking.
broke, but go on there with a fucking tricycle.
Do it. Do it. Do it. Cut people up.
Lee, what's with the moaning, groaning, dog?
I don't know. What do you mean? You don't know.
What are you feeling?
Do you want some chocolate?
No. The chocolate will save you.
It'll put some fucking Addison in your stuff.
Nah, you'll be fine. You're tougher than dead.
You want another star?
No. All right. Are you done with the stars?
Look on he's falling in his chair.
He goes, no.
Ladies and gentlemen, it's been a fucking doozy of a night tonight.
It's so great, dude.
Nice Monday night.
This is how you start the fucking week all perfect.
No,
we're just talking about me.
We went from the SOS band to Deep Purple.
So,
the fucking,
you know,
this is it.
Concerts,
we covered fucking music.
I know,
you know,
it seems a little unorthodox to you tonight,
but it's a Monday night,
people.
This was about no plan,
no nothing.
And Lee was moaning out the time.
We had our own background singer.
Lee's like our old German shepherd in the corner.
He's just over there like,
oh.
Oh.
James Brown yells.
I'm seeing things.
I'll be seeing things.
Let me tell you what happened today, guys.
Today I went back to Jiu-Jitsu for the first time with my blue belt.
It was finally healed.
Congratulations.
I worked out Friday and Saturday at the hotel.
This hotel in Denver have kettlebells.
That's great.
Oh, yeah?
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah, it's great, right?
They're getting water now.
Who has kettle?
No, I travel every week.
They got dumbbells.
Some of them have one bar.
You know, there's only one place in the country that has a bar in the hotel, Chicago.
Yeah.
Chicago actually has a fucking Olympic bar that you could nice with rubber weights and it's nice.
Everybody else has dumbbells.
They all have dumbbells, elliptical, which is great for the weekend.
Fuck yeah.
But this hotel had fucking kettlebells, 21 pound, 35, I think they went up to 41.
Wow, that's killer.
Then they had two heavy ones, like 90 pounds, which nobody would touch.
Ball poppuppies.
I was in Colorado, so there's no reason to do deadlifts.
You're going to have a heart attack.
There's no reason.
And so I did the bike for 15.
Then I did my little tactic warm up to warm up the bottom.
And then I did five sets of swings with the fucking 41.
I did some cleans.
I did some squats.
My shirt was drenched.
I could fuck it.
And then I went on the elliptical for 40.
And then I got on the elevator one time.
You said, in these fucking Gentiles faces.
My shirt was drenched.
My tithes were hanging.
Sweat was coming out of my tithes.
You could smell root beer in the air.
I still got root beer in my tithes for 84.
when I used to be addicted to those fucking roguery of floats.
Mug root beer.
But I went to Jiu-Jitsu today,
and I don't know how hot it was in the Valley.
That's the main reason we didn't do the...
We were going to do the podcast at 3 today.
It was blazing.
And I called Lee, listen, what the fuck are we thinking?
It's a thousand out there.
Some kid brother, it's 86 degrees.
No, it ain't.
Not a peer, it wasn't.
Because every time I got in my car, it started at 106,
and I went to 104, and it stayed at fucking 104.
It was blazing.
It was blazing.
And I go to Jitsu today.
I decided to go to Jitsu a little.
1115, I go on the back, which has no air conditioning,
and I start doing kettlebells.
I do five sets, I do some squats.
Again, just to get the body going to breathe heavy,
I took the back to fucking tick fat just to stretch my shoulder.
I was stretched.
Because the last two weeks of August are always very humid.
Yeah.
I was tranched already.
Then I went to jihitsu class and I had anxiety.
I was rolling with brown belts and shit.
I was like, what the fuck is going on?
My leg is trapped.
Why is it trapped?
And they're throwing me around.
And I did the tactical fitness class
And one of the times I looked down
There was a puddle under my fucking head
I drank the 24 water that I brought
The 12 ounce with the protein drink
Yeah
I had to stop at the gas station
Get another Desani
Yeah
I drank that whole fucking thing
I walked in the house
My wife had a green tea
I inhaled that fucking thing
Took a shower
Drink another fucking Desani of water
She had in them
It just my ghee was still wet when I came here
The rash guard was dry
The knee pads were dry
But guess
what was drenched on the outside, but dry on the inside.
My fucking ball sack was completely dry on the inside.
My knee pads were drenched.
How is that possible?
Because I was wearing Miondi underwears.
That's why.
Oh, Miondi?
Because the Miondi's gets the moisture.
And today I saw it.
I saw how this fucking Miondi's work.
It grabs all the moisture to the V of your fucking underwear.
And my balls were dry.
When I took it off, I go, this is fucking crazy.
And I've said it a thousand times on podcast before when I had the surgeon at one time.
I had me undies.
The next day I took my underwear off, I went to take a sniff.
Fresh.
Wow.
Fucking beautiful.
Like nothing.
Man, and I was like, me, I can get behind that.
Me undies, I think, you know, I didn't know what it was at the time, but I'll tell you
right now, right?
What they have is whether you were in a suit or sweats, you spend 24 hours a day
and your fucking underwear.
But every pair of me underwear is made from sustainable source modol, a fabric that's
twice as soft as cotton.
This word is modal.
Nothing can describe the fit and feel of Mionis, but once you try them, you'll understand why they're called the world's most comfortable fucking underwear.

because I'm going to give you the witness right here.
I could tell you what I thought.
and I can tell you what he thinks,
even though he's making fucked up noises
and he's all pale over there and he's sweating.
Lee Syed's been on Blue Apron
for the last three weeks.
Oh, it's been great.
Speaking to Mike Lee, please.
He said it's been great.
What have you cooked with Blue Apron?
You had the chicken burgers the first time.
Okay.
Hold on, hold.
Hello.
There he is.
The return of the Macs.
Yeah.
All right.
So the first week, you had the chicken burgers.
In all honesty,
Blue Apron's really great.
Really great.
It's teaching me how to cook.
Because I,
like, okay.
How many pounds have you lost in your first week?
And like 10 pounds?
Just from not eating out because here's the thing.
When you eat out, they're like, hey, you have $15 limits.
And you're like, well, okay, well, then I'll order the appetizer.
And then the appetizers there.
So that's how it happens.
Both you guys are looking great.
I do like to say that.
Both you guys are looking slim.
No, no, no.
But Blue Apron, I'm sorry.
I'm sorry, with Blue Apron.
So I cooked the,
fuck, I wish I had them.
The first way you make the chicken,
then you had the pork.
Oh, no, no, I had them with me.
Then you had the pork.
Okay, I put it.
And you got salmon, but you haven't cooked the salmon yet.
Pork tenderloin.
How was the pork tenderloin?
Which is really great.
It had corn and had some kale too.
And then with onions, that was delicious.
And then I cooked, um, hold on, hold on.
I just had it.
Anyway, let me talk to you about Blue Apron,
because Lee's all obats.
Lee is using it, and he loves it.
We talk about it every night.
He's made the crispy chicken.
He's done the chicken burgers.
He's done the pork tenderloin.
He's done the soul, which he's never really been a fish guy.
We got him to eat something one time.
I got him to eat the fried lobster.
I got him to eat the fried lobster,
and he liked that because they marinated it just right up in Morton's.
Yeah.
He likes the one from Morton's or the other one.
Do we have a towel for Lee, maybe?
No, Lee don't need a towel.
He's as tough as men.
He's sweating profusely.
His legs are shaking.
That's okay.
All right.
The legs stop shaking at least.
All right.
Let me talk here so we get the fuck out of here, cock sucker.
Here it is plain and simple.
Lee loves Blue Apron.
It's great.
