The Confessionals - 507: The Jinn Of Afghanistan (Members)

Episode Date: December 29, 2022

In Episode 507: The Jinn Of Afghanistan we are joined by the father-son duo, Eli and Jonah. Jonah heard his dad's story told on The Confessionals when we broadcast episode 405: Paranormal Military Enc...ounters with Nick of Tales From The Gridsquare Instagram account. So he decides to reach out to have him and his dad on the show to talk about that story and many more. Jonah opens us up telling us of his hatman encounter that he never told anyone until the day we recorded, not even his father. Then Eli tells us of the July 4th saga where tragedy seemed to follow their family that day. He talks about how his brother died in a swimming accident on July 4th but was brought back to life through the power of prayer. He also talks about how his head was run over by a car on July 4th and survived with no injuries at all. Eli wraps us up with his jinn encounter when he was overseas in Afghanistan where he saw a man transform into a panther one night while on watch. The catch is it happened the next night to another guard and though it was scary it left Eli knowing that he was not crazy.Become a member for AD FREE listening and EXTRA shows: theconfessionalspodcast.com/joinGet Crypto-Color (Coloring Book):Non-Signed Copy: https://amzn.to/3Yn23RlSigned Copy: https://www.merkel.media/store/p/cryptocolorWatch Expedition Dogman: https://amzn.to/3OVyUs6Tony's Studio Equipment: linktr.ee/mystudiogearSPONSORSGET ExpressVPN: expressvpn.com/confessGET SIMPLISAFE TODAY: simplisafe.com/confessionalsGET Hello Fresh: hellofresh.com/confessionals16 Promo Code: "confessionals16" for 16 FREE MEALS!!!Get Emergency Food Supplies: www.preparewiththeconfessionals.comGet Beard Oil: bit.ly/2FbOhN5CONNECT WITH USWebsite: www.theconfessionalspodcast.comEmail: theconfessionals@theconfessionalspodcast.comSubscribe to the Newsletter: https://www.theconfessionalspodcast.com/the-newsletterSOCIAL MEDIASubscribe to our YouTube: https://bit.ly/2TlREaIDiscord: https://discord.gg/KDn4D2uw7hShow Instagram: theconfessionalspodcastTony's Instagram: tonymerkelofficialFacebook: www.facebook.com/TheConfessionalsPodcasTwitter: @TConfessionalsTony's Twitter: @tony_merkelAre you a military veteran struggling with thoughts of suicide?Contact Watchman Readiness Corps for REAL help. Starting point is 00:00:00 It's confirmed the content of the grand assault to McDonald's. It has arrived here a cargament of McClispy Hot Honey, double-fri-chis stack, and strawfield deep. Starting point is 00:00:20 Hey, everybody. This is a preview of today's members episode. If you want to hear the whole thing, head on over to the Confessionalspodcast.com. Starting point is 00:00:44 I saw three long, bony fingers, reach up underneath the door, curl up to grab it, and then disappear. When he came over to me, dude, he slithered over to me. And this giant comes out of the cave and they're all frozen. And he starts running and firing up this giant. He's got a spear. in one hand and he's running really fast and spears Dan holds them up like this. Somebody else, shoot him in the face, shoot him in the face. They basically decapitated over and there are two small.
Starting point is 00:01:48 It's pushed and because I know I'm seeing a monster. Welcome to the show, everybody are listening to The Confessionals. I'm your host, Tony Merkel. Thanks for being here. If you have a crazy wild experience, you want to share with me on the show, go ahead and shoot me an email. My email address is The Confessionals at the Confessionalspodcast.com. that's the Confessionals at the Confessionalspodcast.com. Or go to the website, theconfessionalspodcast.com. Hit the contact section. You can reach me that way as well.
Starting point is 00:02:42 Either way works for me, just get a hold of me. Welcome to another member's episode. We got a good one here. We have a father's son duo, which is really interesting because I was talking to the son, Jonah, and he was coming on the show and we were scheduling it out. And he mentioned about leaving school in time to talk to me. And I said, great. But are we talking school as in high school? Or are we talking about college? And he said high school. And I said, Hey man, I'm going to need you to get me in contact with your parents because I want to make sure that they're okay with you talking to me because when it comes to minors, we just got to make sure it's on the up and up. And he said, oh, yes, no problem. He sent me the number of his dad. I text his dad.
Starting point is 00:03:16 And his dad's like, Tony, he actually listened to the show and was planning on being on the recording with his son today. So we have Eli and Jonah on the show. Jonah's going to start us off with his hatman encounter. And then his father, Eli, is going to take over the show because Eli's story was already on the confessionals in the beginning of last year. Eli's story was told on this podcast for episode 405 paranormal military encounters where we had Nick come on and Nick runs the Instagram account called Tales from the Grid Square and he told Eli's story because Eli's son submitted it to Nick. Well, his son heard it on the professionals, told his dad and they're like, yo, we should just come on the show and tell the story. So his dad
Starting point is 00:03:53 comes on to tell his paranormal encounter of a gin in Afghanistan. But he also talks about other experiences like being raised in the church as a son of a pastor and the wild stuff that ensued from that, getting ran over by a car and surviving and his brother coming back to life through prayer after being dead for a very long time after he drowned in a pool. That is a fantastic story. This is a fantastic show. I really hope you enjoy it. Let's get to Eli and his son Jonah right now. All right, today we got a father's son duo. We got Eli and Jonah, Eli, the father, Jonah, the son. How are you guys doing? Awesome. So I got to tell you, today was, one of those rare moments I've had where I'm talking to Jonah about today's interview to confirm
Starting point is 00:04:53 everything. And he said that asked if we could push it from noon to 1 p.m. because he gets out of school and might be cutting close. I'm like, yeah, it's fine. But are we talking like college school or high school school? And he said high school. And I said, well, I'm going to need to make sure that your parents can be okay with you being on the show because I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I don't really have a whole lot of conversations with high school students. And so when this came up, I was like, well, this is new. But I also feel a little awkward if I'm talking to a high school kid and his parents don't know. And it turns out, turns out Jonas' dad, Eli said, like hell, I'm going to be on that show too.
Starting point is 00:05:35 No, but apparently the wires were crossed and Eli was going to be showing up no matter what anyways. And so we got the father-son duo here. I appreciate you guys being here. way this interview came about was, Eli, one of your stories was told on this show by Nick from Tales from the Grid Square, the Instagram account,
Starting point is 00:05:55 absolutely huge Instagram account. I don't know how many people he's got following him now. But like when I talk to him, I think he had like 10,000 people following him. Now he's got like 60, 70,000 people following him. And all he does is repost stories that are sent to him from people in the military that are paranormal. And he shared your story.
Starting point is 00:06:12 And I want to definitely have you share that story at some point today from your vantage point. But I want to start things off with Jonah and telling us about his Hatman experience. And they're going to move into Eli's experiences because Eli was raised in the church and he had some wild things happen there. I guess, Eli, you said your dad was a pastor, right? Or still is? Yeah, yeah, that's correct. Okay.
Starting point is 00:06:35 And then we have the Fourth of July sagas where Eli's brother and Eli himself on two different. occasions pretty much were killed on 4th of July and brought back to life. Awesome stuff there, guys. And then we'll get into some paranormal military stuff. So Jonah, man, let's start off with you, though, the Hatman experience. We've heard Hatman throughout the show. In fact, I think the first time we had Hatman on the show was episode three where my wife shared her experiences. So from there, kind of set the pace for the show. And throughout the entire existence of the show, we just have, I think Hatman is one of the most written in stories that we get on this platform. So if you could, go ahead and share with us about this Hatman experience you had and take it away,
Starting point is 00:07:24 my friend. All right. So this is when we lived back on Fort Benning. We've lived in Georgia for about five years now, but we've stayed mostly in Fort Benning because he's getting out as a military in a couple months. So really, I was like late night. It was like a weekend. Just playing video games goofing off and decided to go to bed.
Starting point is 00:07:45 I was getting pretty tired. I was at like 11, 11, 12. And I'm laying in bed and I fall asleep pretty quickly. And then I remember waking up, but I couldn't move. So kind of like sleep paralysis type thing. And I remember trying to look over or like out of my peripheral vision. I just see it in my doorway super tall figure. and then he walks through the door frame, and I just see, like, super elongated path.
Starting point is 00:08:14 It's, like, kind of short, but it has super long brim. And I remember looking at it and, like, fearing for my life because I didn't know what I was looking at. And so I just try my best, like, close my eyes and just try and keep focusing on my other things around me. But he just stood there for a good, like, I felt like forever, but really it was probably, like, 30, 45 minutes. And then I remember waking up and I kept, I was afraid to come out of my room because I was exactly where he was in my door. I was like, if he's out here, I'm probably going to pee my pants, so I see him again. So I wake up and I go downstairs and didn't talk about any of it because I don't know what anyone else would think of me. Just think I'm crazy or something, just seeing things.
Starting point is 00:09:02 Yeah, that's pretty much it. It was insane. Yeah, so, all right, you said you were 11 or 12 years old? Yeah. Okay. So one, I sometimes forget about this, but I think I heard this before I even started the podcast that it seems like the majority of these Hatman experiences happen to children, and either they're extremely terrifying or very comfortable and peaceful. What about that experience for you was extremely terrifying. Was it just the fact that of its presence or was it doing something that was actually causing that fear? I don't know. I just looked at it. It was just standing there.
Starting point is 00:09:45 I just looked at it and immediately felt like just something was happening. It was terrifying. And you said you didn't talk about it. At what point did you tell your dad? Because I'm assuming this isn't the first time your dad heard this story. It's just today. No way. Oh, wow. Yeah, I said, are you going to, I said, are you going to say something? Like, are you going to have got some talking points? And he's like, yeah, I got a hat man in town. I was like, bro, why didn't you tell me?
Starting point is 00:10:14 He's like, well, I didn't know what anybody would think. I was like, dude, you know what's happened to me in my life. And you think I'm going to think any certain way about it. It's like, bro, you should have said something. He's like, what would he would have done? I don't know what to go up there and mess that dude up or like, pray over your room or trying to figure out, you know, what the heck's going on at least, you know? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:34 Oh, my gosh. I'm sitting here thinking myself, when you said that, I'm thinking, okay, so at what point did he tell his dad and feel comfortable today, apparently, today? You know, it's just like, okay, I think enough time has passed now, and I think we're okay. We can talk about it. That's interesting. So the hat man pops in, does his thing, scares you.
Starting point is 00:10:57 and that's the only time you saw it? Yeah. Okay. I have this... So is there something about the Hatman that kind of strikes me as off? It doesn't, to me... And maybe it's because we call it the Hatman, and we identify it as a thing.
Starting point is 00:11:17 But to me, I get this sense that the Hatman isn't your typical spooky ghost. That, you know, oh, I saw this... this ghost in this old house. It feels like it's more targeted and intentional to me. And I forget, I think I might have been talking about this on a recent recording with somebody. I get this sense that,
Starting point is 00:11:42 like imagine if like the hat man is actually some kind of interdimensional being that's figured out how to tap in and in and out of, or maybe not even figured out. What if the hat man is an interdimensional being, being or person or something that even maybe future person that is tapping into this reality for specific reasons. Because I started thinking it seems like it's targeted. It seems like it goes after children.
Starting point is 00:12:12 Sometimes it's completely terrifying. But most times, even though you were completely scared, it doesn't do a whole lot to terrify you. And it just makes me wonder, like, a long way to say this, I feel like we're being studied. I feel like the hat man. I feel like the hat man is almost studying people. And I can go in so many different ways with this because it's fun to talk about things and say things out loud.
Starting point is 00:12:41 Even if you don't necessarily believe it, it's okay to talk about. Make that note to everybody listening right now. Just talk to people. Have fun and conversation. But what if, and this is going down the rabbit hole, but what if we are in a simulation and the hat man is the conductor of the simulation tapping in to see a certain scenario he designed or checking in on something and that's why he's black and he's always wearing the same clothes is because he's not a character in the simulation he's
Starting point is 00:13:14 just a shadow that comes in for a brief moment and then leaves i tricked myself out just now saying that out. It sounds a lot like the movie Monsters Inc. where they get their energy from scaring the dog crap out of it. They open the toys. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:32 Yeah. So, but I'm going along that same thing. And it's like maybe different emotions feed different things. They're allowed to hang out here a little bit longer if they have energy from our emotions, whether it's fear or happiness. Because I've seen a lot of different
Starting point is 00:13:46 entities, if you will, or things. And there's a feeling that comes along with it like okay I see this thing I don't know if I'm supposed to be seeing this thing or not but I don't feel scared right now that could definitely change here in the next 30 seconds if something weird happens or you just feel peaceful and you're like okay well I just saw that and then there's other times where I've seen things and immediately like even before I see it I feel like something's wrong in my in my body in my in my being I feel like something's happening something's going something's going to happen sometime I just don't know what it is and then you're
Starting point is 00:14:20 I'll see something or whatever happens. So, yeah, I'm on board, Tony. You know, what you... You know, what you just said, it kind of rings with off-topic, but when we were filming Expedition Dog Band, I remember the one night when we were hiking into the woods. Like we said on the film,
Starting point is 00:14:42 it was like a two-mile hike into the woods to get to the location we were going to at night, in the dark, with just a night vision camera that I think Christian was holding or I was holding and flashlights and some guns. We get in there, but going in, I felt like there was this anticipation. It might have been adrenaline pumping, but I felt like I was being watched. And I felt like I was that there was I was guaranteeing myself to have something happened that night. I really felt like that going in. And that goes against my logic because I always talk about how I don't believe that I'll ever really see any of this stuff.
Starting point is 00:15:23 I mean, I'm going to try. But if it was that easy, then everybody would do it. You know, so I go into Kentucky. I go to Kentucky feeling like that, I'm like, nothing's going to happen. That's why I'm doing this because I'm so confident that I'm not going to be the unlucky guy who runs into a dog man this week. And so I'm going through there. and I'm trying, but under the expectation that probably nothing's going to happen. And that night going in, though, I had the exact opposite feeling.
Starting point is 00:15:54 I felt like I was being watched, observed. And then we get in there and the guys hanging the bait and stuff down the hill in the valley. They had some weird things happening to them. And so I don't know. I don't remember this made it the film or not. So if it didn't, I'm telling you guys for the first time and telling the world for the first time. but it probably did make the film. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:16:17 There was some things that didn't make the film. But when they were hanging the meat, so the big focus on that film was seeing that tree sway back and forth, even though we didn't catch it on camera. We talked about it. That was what spawned us to go back to that location at night. And when we went back, the guys were hanging the meat and stuff
Starting point is 00:16:37 and really trying to bait this thing. And when that happened, or when they did that, something above them in the trees went, whoosh right directly over them. Nothing around, the trees around them weren't moving. It was just right above them, the trees just went whoosh and went in a linear line with them real fast.
Starting point is 00:16:54 And so, like, I guess something did happen. I just didn't, I didn't see it, and experienced it. But I say all that to say, leaving the forest, it was a completely different vibe. I felt like I wasn't being watched. And the further we got out of the forest and closer than my truck, the last. I felt like anything was going to happen. In fact, I think the last like half mile
Starting point is 00:17:15 was just pretty much like a, you know, it's a nice night, guys, isn't it? You know, it's just like chill, you know?
Starting point is 00:17:20 And so, um, the last like five minutes of me telling that story, I have no idea why I even got on that topic. You said something that, that, that, that,
Starting point is 00:17:29 this interview is going sideways. So I'm going to reel it back. Um, I think you might have said something about the feeling of being watched or something. That's, yeah, yeah, but,
Starting point is 00:17:39 um, expectation of, I've now have a new expectation of, expectation because I have this feeling something's going to have. Exactly. Exactly. So before I go sideways any more and stuff, Eli, you were raised in a church as in your dad as a pastor. And then you said to me, wild stuff happened from that. You didn't tell me what the wild stuff is, but I can only imagine because I've heard and talked to enough people who were raised in the church like you to know that one, pastor's families get talked to
Starting point is 00:18:12 targeted spiritually. And also churches in general get targeted a lot. And so if you're in the church a lot, chances are you're going to experience some funky stuff. So take it away and start telling us some of the crazy stuff you've been through. Yeah. So like you just said, this was a preview of today's member episode.
