Starting point is 00:00:00 You're listening to Comedy Central. Have you ever been watching the news and thought to yourself, wow, the Supreme Court sure does suck. We made a podcast about that. We sure did. There is a super majority of conservative maniacs on the Supreme Court right now, really doing some damage. I'm Michael.
Starting point is 00:00:19 I'm Riannan. And I'm Peter. Our podcast, 5 to 4 is about all of this. Every week we dissect and analyze a different ruling that has made our country a little worse, a little more cruel. And you would not believe how many of them there are. Check out 5-4. That's the number 5-4, wherever you listen to podcast. Any questions before we move on? Anything bugging you? Yes? Yes. Hi. So in your book you talk about how the education system of Germany is different in terms of the history and the shameful elements of the history. Right.
Starting point is 00:00:54 They have to go through the Holocaust and have to really internalize and understand the complexities of it. It's not that way in the South Africa apartheid. Right. Well, it's a little bit better in South Africa with aparthe aparthe aparthe aparthe aparthe aparthe aparthe aparthe aparthe aparthe aparthe aparthe aparthe aparthe aparthe aparthe aparthe aparthe aparthe aparthe aparthe aparthe aparthe aparthe aparthe aparthe aparthe aparthe aparthe aparthe aparthe aparthe aparthe aparthe aparthe aparthe aparthe aparthe aparthe aparthe aparthe aparthe aparthe aparthe aparthe aparthe aparthe aparthe aparthe aparthe aparthe aparthe aparthe aparthe aparthe aparthe aparthe aparthe aparthe aparthe aparthe aparthe aparthe apar better in South Africa with apartheid, but yes. How do you think that in 25, 50 years our American public education system, hopefully not under the wise tutelage Betsy Foss? We'll approach different racial issues or racial props in congressional hearings for like mass education. Why? You, do you, the the United States? Well, you, the United States. We'll approach different racial issues or racial props in congressional terrorism for like mass education.
Starting point is 00:01:29 Well, that's a tough thing. I mean, there's so many layers to that question. Look, I don't know how they will. I think how they should is easy. I think history should just be told from many different perspectives. People need to understand that a lot of the time it's not that you're a bad person, it's just that we think of a story from our perspective because we are the ones telling it. Do you get what I'm saying? So a good example is I remember when I was in South Africa and I'd learn about the history of the British and because the British were kicked out of South Africa and because like the Afrikaans and the Zulus fought against, their, because, because, because, their, their, because, their, because, their, their, their, because, their, because, their, their, because, their, because, their, because, their, because, because, their, because, because, their, their, their, because their, because we their, their, their, because their, because we are their, because we are their, because we are their, because we are their, because we are their, because we their, their, because we we their, because we their, their, their, their, because we their, because we are their, because we are their, because we are their, because we are their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their taught was that the British were invaders, they were bad, and they came in and they shot the people and you get them saying.
Starting point is 00:02:06 But then when you go to England they tell you about the heroes, the heroes who fought in the Zulu war and how they triumped and then it's like, what do you mean? What do you mean? Heroes? And they're their defense they were like and other and other and other and other and other and other and other and other and other and they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they th. they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they told. told. tel. tell. tell. tell. tell. tell. tell. tell. tell. tell. tell. told. told. they they they they they they they, oh, I never thought of it like that, Trevor. And in their defense, they were like, that's just how we were taught. We were taught they were heroes. And if you were taught that somebody's a hero, you're going to believe that they're a hero. I just think every story in America should be told from all different perspectives. in TV and in a hearing ever because for those who didn't see it, it was Michael Cohen testifying.
Starting point is 00:02:47 And then what happened was one of the congressmen brought out a friend of the Trump family. And he was like, you say the Trumps are racist, but look at their black friend! Look at her, the black friend! And then Rashida's leave, she was like, that's racist! Bringing out a black person as a prop is racist. And he was like, how dare you say that I'm racist? I have black nieces and nephews. And I was like, okay, I don't know that that means you're not racist. That just means that your brother has had sex with a person who's someone of color.
Starting point is 00:03:22 That's all that means. Because you can't be like, it's their their that, that, that, the, that, that, that, thia, that, that, the, that, that, thi, that, that, that, thi, that, thi, that, thi, that, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, Because you can't be, like, it's not like they're your children. He's just like, my nephew's and yeah, that means you have black people in your family. It doesn't mean you're not. Like people choose weird things to display that they're not racist. And then I think it was, was it Cummings? Was Elijah Cummings? man, I can let you know that this white man is not racist and he's my friend. And then it was like this weird racism bubble thing. Everyone was arguing, who's racist, you're racist, no I'm not racist, you're my best friend. I'm not the racist.
Starting point is 00:03:49 Who's the racist? What's the racist? Is racism? And then people were like, yeah, okay. sorash, sorry. And then Rashed Rash, Rash, Rash, Rash, Rash, Rash, Rash, Rash, Rash, Rash, Rash, Rash, R, R, R, R, R, R, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, you, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're, you're their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. the, you you you you you're, you're, you're, you're. the, you. the, you're. the, you. the, you're. tho, you're. tho, you're. tho, tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. th. th. th th th th th th th th t. t. th. t. th. th. th. th. th. th. th th th th th the the th th th same congressman, I think his name is Meadows, from years ago when Obama was president, and the clip came out and he was like, we're going to send Obama back to Kenya wherever he's from. I was like, oh, oh, where were your nephew's dad?
