Starting point is 00:00:30 You're listening to Comedy Central. October 9th, 2019. From Comedy Central's World News headquarters in New York. This is the Daily Show with Trevor Noah. Ears Edition. Welcome to the Daily Show, everybody. Thank you so much for tuning in. Thank you for coming out. As always, thank you for coming out. Wow. I'm Trevor Noah, let's do this thing. Our guest tonight is an up-and-coming actor from West Philadelphia, born and raised. The one and only Will Smith is joining us everybody. So exciting. We're going to be chatting to everybody's new movie. Also on tonight's show, there are crazy balloons on the loose. America is now under Chinese law,
Starting point is 00:01:29 and Roywood Jr. finds the Republicans who want to take down Donald Trump. So let's catch up on today's headlines. Let's kick it off with the Supreme Court. America's highest court and the place Ruth Beta Ginsburg goes in between workouts. Yesterday, the court heard oral arguments in a big case that could have major impacts on the workplace. The Supreme Court is back at work this week, and today it heard arguments
Starting point is 00:01:57 in one of the most important cases of its new term. Does existing law protect LGBTQ employees on the job? The justices heard the case of Gerald Vostock fired from a county job in Georgia after joining a gay softball league. He sued but lower courts threw his case out. They ruled at the 1964 Civil Rights Act, signed by President Johnson, which bans job discrimination on the basis of race and sex among other factors does not cover sexual orientation. Vostock's lawyer says firing someone for being gay is discrimination based on sex.
Starting point is 00:02:29 Man, this is going to be a huge case and we're going to have to wait to see what the court decides but if you ask me, it's crazy that you can fire someone for being gay, you know? I mean, like if you're fired at work, it should only be for work reasons, like, stealing, or not showing up, or saying you like the final episode of Game of Thrones. You should be fired. It's like, it's like, a big deal. Also, I've always wondered this, like, how do you fire someone for being gay? You can't tell who's gay? Like, if people haven't come out, you don't know, you don't even know what to the the the the southern oh I'm sorry I got confused I'm sorry you realize this ruling could also
Starting point is 00:03:10 affect everyone not just gay people right because by this logic if you extend the logic anything you do in your sex life can be grounds for losing your job right just sexual preference that's what they're saying yeah if you one of those people who's really quiet during sex yeah you could you to the job at the mall huh yeah yeah the the the their their their their to their their their their their their their their their their their their their their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their their. their. their. their. th. th. I I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I'm. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I I I's. I I's. I I's. I I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the their, yeah? You could lose your job at the mall, huh? Yeah, if you're into domination and humiliating people, you could lose your job at Verizon customer service, huh? Yeah? And if you're the type of person who doesn't believe in the female orgasm, you could
Starting point is 00:03:33 use your job as vice president of the United States. It could be really bad. You don't know. But actually I'll be honest, I'm looking forward to this decision because the people who get mad about other people having sex are always the ones who aren't getting any themselves. So we're going to know, by the way they vote, who on the Supreme Court? All right, and finally, a story about a gender reveal party. And I mean, it started as a disaster because it was a gender reveal party, but things only got worse from there. They thought they'd planned the perfect gender reveal.
Starting point is 00:04:10 Then this happened. Gender reveal, gone wrong. Oh, Ned, strike out. This couple can't pop the big balloon. Instead, this happens. Not her own! Bye- bye balloon. Dad makes Chase, but can't make it over that fence.
Starting point is 00:04:28 Ha ha ha. Oh, man. All right, kid, I don't know if you're a boy or a girl, but I do know your dad's a little bitch. That's what we learned. They learned. You know what kills me about this video is they went after the balloon like it was the only way to know their kid's gender. Like ten years from now the kid's going to be like mom am I a boy or a girl? They're like we will never know until we find that balloon. And the balloon flew away like it was woke as hell. The balloon was like, I reject the premise that this gender is something that that that that that that that that that can that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that then is something is something is something is something is something is something is something that that that that that the is the is the is thi.. thi. thi. thiol-a thiol-a thi is thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi is thi is thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi is thi's thi thi thi thi thi thi te te te te te tooli te te tooli telli tell. tell. tell. thi te t balloon. And the balloon flew away like it was woke as hell.
Starting point is 00:05:05 The balloon was like, I reject the premise that this gender is something that can be predetermined. That was wild. I'll be honest with you. I actually think gender reveal parties are dumb. I don't know why anybody does them. They played out now. Like no one cares what gender the kid turns out to be what like what we need to have, we need to have dad reveal parties. That's what we need. Yeah, it's a new thing I thought of, right? Where the mother invites the
Starting point is 00:05:31 potential fathers and then the DNA test is in the balloon. That will be way more exciting and you still have a surprise and you don't lose anything. They still gonna be sticks and someone will definitely still be jumping over a fence. Some will be like, James, you said you were just a friend! All right, that's it for the headlines. Let's move on to our top story. The NBA, 29 of the world's best basketball teams and also the Knicks. The regular season hasn't even kicked off yet. The NBA, 29 of the world's best basketball teams and also the Knicks. The regular season hasn't even kicked off yet, but there's already been a ton of drama. Now, if you haven't been keeping up, last week, the general manager of the Houston Rockets posted a tweet in support of the pro-democracy protests in Hong Kong.
Starting point is 00:06:20 And the NBA quickly put out a statement distancing themselves from that tweet. What was funny about this, though, was that the English version of the statement was very different from what it was being translated to for the Chinese internet. So like in English, the statement was basically like, hey, China, we're sorry, you're offended. But then the Mandarin one was like, rest assured, China, we will feed this man to the wolves. But then the the the the the the the the the the the the the man the man the man the man the man the man the man the man the man the man the man the man the man tha. than man. thuui. thanananananananananananananananananananananananananananan. Wea. th. th. th. th. their, their, their, their, their. It's, their. It's, their. It's, their. It's, their. It's, their. It's, their. It's, their. It's, their. It was, tha. It's, thu. It's, the. It's, the. It's, the. It's, the. It's, thea. It's, thea. It's, thean.a.a.a.a.a.a.a.a.a.a.a.a.a.a. It's English. It's English. It's English. It's English. It's thethe wolves. But then here in America, people were pissed that the NBA was coutowing to China, right? So yesterday, they went into damage control mode, and things have only escalated from there. There's new fallout this evening in the NBA's firestorm with China.
Starting point is 00:06:58 The NBA tonight fighting back after being blasted for caving to China's communist government. Commissioner Adam Silver defending Houston Rockets GM Darry. We are not apologizing for Darrell exercising his freedom of expression. Shortly after Adam Silver voiced the League's support for free speech, fresh backlash from the communist regime in Beijing. China's government tonight, digging in, cancelling a Brooklyn Nets event at a Shanghai school. In the last few hours, China has started pulling down Lakers and Nets signage.
Starting point is 00:07:31 At least two major Chinese retailers have pulled Houston Rockets merchandise from their websites. China's state TV said it won't broadcast or stream NBA preseason games in China. Oh no! Not the preseason, no! Nobody cares about the preseason games? Fans in America are like, can you ban them here as well? Can you, uh...
Starting point is 00:07:54 Yeah, the preseason is just like the boring stuff we're forced to sit through before the main event. Like, China banning preseason is like Disney getting rid of its lines. Just like, I'm sorry, but you'll have to go straight to the rides from now on. I wish it didn't come to this. Oh no! Still though, China is seriously pissed off about the tweets. And they're also pissed off about the response from the NBA. And they aren't just taking preseason games off the air.
Starting point is 00:08:19 They're also can't cancelling NBA events. They're ripping they're ripping they're ripping their the basically banned. Yeah, no basketball, no LeBron, in fact no jumping. Yeah. You see a puddle, you just walk right through that shit. And you can have donuts but no dunkin. And all office workers in China, if you need to throw something in the trash, none of this, no buzzer beaters. You get out and you just place it gently in the bin. So. So. So th. So th. So th. So th. So th. So th. So th. So th. So th. th. th. th. th. thiii. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. the the the the the the their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their, their, their, their, their, their, their. Yeah, their. Yeah, the the the the the the the the the the the the the their. Yeah, the the the their their their their their th. th. the. the. thea. thea. thea. thea. thea. thea. thea. their their their their their their their their their ash, none of this, no buzzer beaters. You get out and you just place it gently in the bin. So China is basically going to war with the NBA, all because of a single tweet. And as surprising as that may seem to some people, the truth is, this kind of thing has been happening between China and American companies a lot. The NBA not the only one of feeling the heat either. U.S. Jeweler Tiffany also under fire after tweeting an image of a Chinese model covering
Starting point is 00:09:05 one eye with people believing it was done in solidarity with those Hong Kong protests. Nike are bowing to pressure from Beijing, pulling a sneaker from the Chinese market. Activision has suspended a professional video game player and taken away his prize money. Apple took the Taiwan emoji off its keyboard if you are in Hong Kong or Macau. Marriott apologized to the Chinese government. Versace, Givanchi and Coach issued apologies. The Gap issued a sincere apology. Delta saying we apologize deeply for the mistake. Damn China gets offended by a lot of shit. They're like that one guy at work who takes everything personally just like, hey man I like your shoes. I go wow so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so to to to to th to to th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th the the the th th th th th th th th th th th th their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi thi thi tho. tho. tho. tho. tho- tho-a. tho-a. tho-a. tho-a. tho-a. their their their their their th lot of shit. They're like that one guy at work who takes everything personally. You're just like, hey, man, I like your shoes.
Starting point is 00:09:47 I go, wow, so you don't like looking at my feet? Uh, no, I do like your feet. Gross, you're a pervert. Now, here's the thing. The truth is, these companies don't have to take orders from China about what to say to say, to say, to say, to say, to say, to say, to say, to say, to say, to say, to say, to say, to say, to say, to say, to say, to say, to say, to say, to say, to say, to say, to say, to say, to say, to say, to say, to say, to say, to say, so to, so to, so, so, so, so to say, so, so, so, so to say, so, so to say, so, so, so to say, to say, to say, to say, to say, to say, to say, to say, to say, to say, to say, to say, to say, to say, to say, to say, to say, to say, to say, to say, to say, to say, to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to lose access to a billion Chinese customers. It's a powerful incentive. So powerful in fact that China's influence is affecting how Americans can act on American soil. Tonight's game between the 76ers and China's team, the Guangzhou Long Lions went on as
Starting point is 00:10:18 planned as an international firestorm hangs over the Wells Fargo Center. And on the sidelines, Sam walks and his wife held free Hong Kong and free HK signs that were confiscated by security in the first quarter. Then in the second quarter both got kicked out of the game when Wax started yelling free Hong Kong. As someone who used to live there he supports the movement. That's right. Fans in Philadelphia got kicked out of a basketball game last night for chanting free Hong Kong. And I didn't realize that yelling shit at a basketball game was against the rules. I mean, that must have been so confusing for all the other fans.
Starting point is 00:10:52 You know, because this guy's there like, free Hong Kong. And then the guy next room was probably like, hey, Ben Simmons, suck a Kardashian **** tick. And the security is like, you get out! No, not you, no, the free Hong Kong guy. You keep going. That stuff about the Kardashian, that was hilarious. Carry on. We'll be right back. Have you ever been watching the news and thought to yourself, wow, the Supreme Court sure does suck. We made a podcast about that. We sure did. There is a super majority
Starting point is 00:11:23 of conservative maniacs on the Supreme Court right now really doing some damage. I'm Michael. I'm Riannan. And I'm Peter. Our podcast 5-4 is about all of this. Love that. Love that. Love that. Oh, That's enough. That's enough.
Starting point is 00:12:32 That's all we have time for. It was good. It was worth it. Yeah. That's all we have time for. That's all we have time for. It was good. It was worth it. That's what it was.
Starting point is 00:12:49 Welcome back to the show, my friend. Man, I am so happy to be here. Good to see you. You look happy. I mean, you always look happy, but I'm honestly going to say you look happy. Yes. This last year has probably been the best year of my adult life. When people say that, they normally mean like, oh, I got a raise, but you are Will Smith. Yes. So if Will Smith says, this has been the best year of my life, we're like, what were the other ones?
Starting point is 00:13:18 What does it mean? Why? Why would you say that? What does that mean? You know, on my 50th birthday, I jumped out, I did the bungee jump thing, thing, thing, thing, thing, thing, thing, thing, thing, thing, thing, thing, thing, thing, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, when? What, when? What, when? What, when? What, when? What, when? What, when? What, when? What, when? What, when? What, when? What, when? What, when? What, when? th. What, when? th. th. th. th. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th? What does that mean? Now, you know, on my 50th birthday, I jumped out, I did the bungee jump thing, the helicopter over the Grand Canyon. Right, right, right, right. You know, and that was the thing the white people told you to do, right? Yes, yes. I remember that. Yes, it's why you need white friends. That's true. That's true. That's true. That's true. That is. That is. That is. That is. That is. That is. That is that. That is that. That's true. That's true. That's true. That's true. That's true. That's true. that. That's. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. the that. that. that. that. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I th. I th. I th. I things. I things. things. things. things. things. things. things. things. th. I. I. I. I. I the. I the. I. I. I. the bungee out of the helicopter, right? But it was a bigger thing than that for me, right? I had painted myself into a little bit of a Will Smith corner, right? So there were things that, because I had kids, and because I was Will Smith, there were
Starting point is 00:13:58 things I couldn't say and things I couldn't do, and certain projects I couldn't take. And I had sort of painted myself into a little bit of a fearful corner. that that sort of marked a moment where I told myself that's it I'm gonna I'm gonna do what I want I'm gonna say what I want I'm gonna live the way I want without the fear of somehow losing something that that was precious I've created and I've been more free and more joyous and more peaceful than in my I've created. And I've been more free and more joyous and more peaceful than in my entire adult life. That is truly amazing here, because like, people would never think, people would never think
Starting point is 00:14:34 that Will Smith could be at that place in his life. And in a weird way, I feel like that is a story of Gemini man. Yes, exactly. Because in the film, you play the best assassin in the world, right? And you play this man and he goes, you know what, I'm done with the game. Yeah, but the game's not done with you. And as we've seen in the trailer, they send the younger version of you to go and kill you. Yes. Because that's the only person good enough. Yes, it's because I'm so good, because I's because I's because I's because I'm so good, because I'm so good, because I'm so good, because I'm so good, because I'm so good, because I'm so good, because I'm so good, because I'm so good, because I'm so good, because I'm so good, because I'm so good, the the the the the the the the th. the the the th. th. th. the th. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the, th. the, th. the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the the, the the the the the th. th. th. the. the. the. the. thea. thea. thea. the. the. the the the. the. the. the. th'm so good. The only way that me could get killed is it would have to be me killing you.
Starting point is 00:15:07 All right. It's a crazy concept with wild technology. But, and I know you've talked about that a lot, but I mean, this is another challenge. I mean, we've seen you, we've seen you play all types of characters. We've seen you just be the only only only only only only only only only only only only only only only yes. And then now you are like, no, I'm going to be me fighting against me. Yeah. I just don't need other actors, man.
Starting point is 00:15:30 That's what you mean. You know? You know what? You know what, what, what is the most difficult part? Yeah. What's challenging about playing old Wilsmith and young Willsmith in the same the same the same the same the same the same the same the same the same the same the same the same the same? Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. th. th. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. th. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. It. It. It. It. It. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's, th. It's, th. It's, th. It's, th. It's, th. It's, th. It's, th. It's, th. It's, th. Yes, th. Yes, the th. Yes, the old Will Smith and young Will Smith in the same scene? So you know what is the most difficult part? It's like playing youth, right? So there's a naivete to youth and there's a look in someone's eyes when they really don't know.
Starting point is 00:16:00 Right? But then as you get older, there's like a certain thing that like it just gets in your blood and in your cells when you know things. Right. So having to go back and play young like, like, it's like sex, right? You can't unknow sex, right? Right. So wait, many times. I want to show you. I'm gonna show you. Let me show you. All right. So before you have sex, before you that. Right. You walk like th. th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th. th, th. th. th, th. th. th. th. the the th. the th. the the the the the the the the the the their, their their their their their their their the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. the the th. th. th. th. th. that. thr. te. te. try. try. tell. try. try. th. the. the. the. the. the. th. Let me show you. All right. So before you have sex, before you have sex, right, you walk like this. Let's get some lights on this. Get some lights, get some lights, right? Throw the lights on this, just throw the lights. All right, before you have sex. All right, so this is before you have sex. Before you have sex. Before you you you you you you you you you you th. Before you have th. Before th. Before you have th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. Let th. Let's th. Let's th. Let's th. Let's th. Let's th. Let's th. Let th. Let th like th like th like th like th like th like th like th like th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. Let's the. the. Let's the. Let's the. Let's the. the. the. like, right. Right, right.
Starting point is 00:16:45 OK, that's pre-sex. That's pre-sex. And then the first time you have sex, it changes your back. OK. Right? And it's like. You know, right? So, as an actor, as an actor, you can't unring that bell, you know? Right. So you have to really go back and I went back and I studied some of my old material to try to find youthful naivete. Let me ask you this though. You are Will Smith and I know
Starting point is 00:17:24 this sounds like I'm flattering you, but you always... No, I'm this though. You are Will Smith and I know this sounds like I'm flattering you but you know No, I'm cool with that You always That's why I came here man But but every time I see you you you you look like will Smith like I've never thought of Will Smith being old you just like I've to thou smiths like I watched you when I was young and then I just to try to you and now we're the same same I the same I th, I th, I th th th th th th th th th th th th th th's th's th's th's th's th's th's th's thin. thin. that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's why I that's why I that's why I that's why I that's why I that's why I that's why I that's why I that's why I that's why I that's why I'm that's why I'm be older and they'll be like, hey, Will, what's it going? Are you still gonna be Will Smith? So like, I have to ask you, is there a level of vulnerability that comes with acknowledging that you are aging as Will Smith?
Starting point is 00:17:51 Yeah, you know, that was a, that was another part of the experience that I had. Like, uh, turned 50, I've never, I've never really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really felt it that way, but like last year when I turned 50, it was like, it's a five in front of it. The five, like 40 was cool, 30 was cool, like 50 was like, whoa, man, we need to jump out a helicopter or something. You're not really, it hit me a little bit, but the accepting being older and even for Gemini man, a lot of those things came up. And you're thinking about the previous life
Starting point is 00:18:27 and you think about the karma of the mistakes you've made and what would you not do if you had known and all of those things came up. But I've solved the problem. I am having an absolute ball with my life right now. One thing that has fascinated me about you is for a long time, you were the previous the previous the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. to, th. th. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. Yeah, right, right, right, right, right, th. th. right now. One thing that has fascinated me about you is for a long time, you were an enigma. You know, it was... You can't stay that on TV.
Starting point is 00:18:51 You were... You were Will Smith. We saw Will Smith in the movies. We moved that in private, man. You my Enigma. And so you were at... You were at movie premieres and you were in magazines and teeth. But we didn't know Will Smith. Right. Right.
Starting point is 00:19:09 All of a sudden, we saw Will Smith on YouTube. We saw Will Smith on YouTube. We saw Will Smith on YouTube. We saw Will Smith cusing his kids and having fun with them. We saw Will Smith goofing around with Jada. We see Will Smith going, hey man, I'm a human being who is also a mega star, but I'm a human being, I feel, I love, I laugh, I dance. I don't take myself that seriously. That end of itself is a big chance and a step to take as a person.
Starting point is 00:19:31 Why do you do it and why do you keep doing it? So what, what, when I first was setting out to become, I said, I want to be the biggest movie star in the world and that was pre-internet It was pre-social media right so during that time the idea was you couldn't be a movie star If you didn't maintain mystery right so the the common belief was nobody's gonna go to a movie theater? If they see you every day, right? So you would stay out and you would maintain the mystery and the only?? the only time? the? the? the? the? the the? the the the? the the? the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the te te te te. te. time te. te. te. te. te. te. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the a movie theater if they see you every day, right? So you would stay out and you would maintain the mystery and the only time that they get to see you is the fourth of July on the big screen. Right? Right? So what happened was as social media came, there was a shift and I was trying to hold on for a little while, and I realized that the new mentality is, nobody's coming to the movie theater
Starting point is 00:20:29 if they don't see you every day, right? People want to feel like their friends, they want to know. So it's a completely different shift. And another thing happened for me with social media. I was, I had so many creative ideas that were dying on the vine inside of me. So when you put out a movie Gemini Man, it might be two and a half years from the time we started till it comes out. So that's one piece of content in two and a half years. But what social media is allowing me to do is all of those ideas and all of those concepts get to come out and there's there was a there's an
Starting point is 00:21:08 analogy I used I was experiencing creative constipation. Okay, okay. Right. No go with me this right. So I was experiencing creative constipation, right? So the internet has allowed me like a laxative, right? Just start flowing. And I just, so now I get to put it all over the fans. Yeah. That's it. Yeah. Will Smith is now putting it all over the fans. Yeah. Let me ask you this before you go. You know. Who said I was gone? I... I... Please, please. Please.
Starting point is 00:21:50 You will Smith, but I have places to be. Um... No, no, let me ask you this. You know, when you, when you make a movie like Gemini Man, everyone would always jump to the first assumption, which is like, what advice would you give your younger self? And like, that's like an immediate assumption you would have as a person when you watch that movie.
Starting point is 00:22:11 But being a parent means you are a Gemini man. You know, you already have many new versions of yourself. You know, you have your kids who we all know, know and love. What advice do you give them? What are the things that you tell them that you don't want them to replicate in their lives? Because, I mean, you're extremely successful. So it's hard to say, don't make my mistakes because your mistakes got you here. So what do you actually say to your kids? I made some pretty good mistakes. That's a thing, right? So what do you actually say to your kids? What do you hope? What do? What do? What they they they they they they they are hope? they are hope? they they are hope? they are hope? they are hope? they are hope? they are hope? they are hope? th. What do? they are hope? th. What do? th. th. th. th. th. thi? they're hope? th. th. th. th. th. th. they they they they they they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're to to to to to try. I? try. I? try. I try. I'll try. I try. I try. I try. I'm th. I the. I the. I they're to get you to this level? You know, from this time and doing the deep study during Gemini Man and looking at, and those questions came up. And what I really found is nobody can know for you, right?
Starting point is 00:22:57 People can know for themselves, but they can't know for you, right? I was making the decision when I graduated from high school between music and going to college. And my mother said, you'll never make anything of yourself if you don't go to college. And, you know, that was true for her. Right. It wasn't true for me. So I've learned, and with my't true for me, right? So I've learned, and with my kids, I got really humble, right, and not wanting to be on
Starting point is 00:23:31 them as if I could possibly know the decisions that they need to make. So I learned to be open and to watch and to pay attention and to trust that the same God that held my hand through the world is going to hold theirs and I'm there to support their journey not to force mine upon them. Wow. Yeah, you know, now you don't want me to leave, you know now. Yeah, now, you don't want me to leave.. Not only to leave. Yeah, now you don't want me to leave, you know, now, you know, but now I got something
Starting point is 00:24:08 to do. Now I got something to do. You know, you know what, you're not old, but you, but you're definitely wise, Will Smith. No, I love that about, thank you for the social media we love that you spray us with all of that was contained within you. The analogy didn't work it didn't hold up. Hey it doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. You got the idea of it.
