Thank you for being here, everybody. We've made it, we made it another week. Take a seat. We've got a jam-packed show for you tonight. Britain is saying goodbye to its queen. The Dutch are trying to say goodbye to meet and Donald Trump is going to jail to visit some of his friends. So let's do this this this this this this this this this this people this people this people this people this people this people this people this people this people this people this people th thu thu thu th, let's do this people. Let's come straight into today's headlines. All right. With all the news that happened today, I don't think we have enough space for it in today's show. Yeah, we just don't. There's too many stories.
Starting point is 00:01:20 And I don't know how this happened. You know, the news must have had some bad oysters or something because there's a story coming from all ends and it won't stop, so we don't have time. Fortunately, not enough time is just enough time for a segment we call, ain't nobody got time for that. thiiii. All right, let's kick things off with some shocking news. A Trump associate has been arrested.
Starting point is 00:01:48 Well, I know, right? It's like how many more left? It feels like everyone around Trump has been put in cuffs. His CFO, his lawyer, his campaign manager, his campaign manager, his deputy campaign manager, his fundraisers, his advisors, basically every single person Donald Trump has ever met has gone to prison. And I know what you're saying, Trevor, Eric has never been to prison, yeah, because that's because he never met him, you dumb ass.
Starting point is 00:02:17 I said, met. You realize now there are enough Trump people in jail to start their own prison gang, right? There's going to be that, that's the Latin their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, thi tre, tre, tre, tre, tru.. true, true, true, true, true, true, true, true, true, true, true, true, tri, tri, tri, tr, tr, tr, tr, tr, tr, tr, tr, tr, tr, tr................................ He, th. He, th.... He, the, the, the, the, the, the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. te. te. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the enough Trump people in jail to start their own prison gang, right? There's going to be like, yo, that's the Latin Kings, that's the Aryan Brotherhood, and them over there, that's the Trump cabinet, man. Those MNFers are local. They're crazy. And now another Trump associate has been arrested for the second time, and is Steve Bannon. Yes, Trump's former chief advisor, and what thaa, thamamamamamamamam, and th when you wait too long to clean out your fridge. You see, he's in trouble for the, in the state of New York. And what he's in trouble for, probably won't surprise you at all.
Starting point is 00:02:52 This morning, longtime Trump advisor Steve Bannon, facing a new criminal indictment as he turns himself into authorities here in New York, accused of siphoning money from the group called We Build the Wall, an online campaign to build a section of President Trump's border wall that raised $25 million. The founders claiming that every penny would go to construction, promising those who donated a brick in the wall with their name on it. Prosecutors say instead, Bannon and his associates lined their pockets with large sums of that money. Bannon now calling the charges phony and a political weaponization of the criminal justice system,, that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that th th th th th th th the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the large sums of that money. Bannon, now calling the charges phony and a political weaponization of the criminal justice system, saying I am never going to stop fighting, they will have to kill me first.
Starting point is 00:03:33 Oh, they will have to kill me first. Oh, they will have to kill me first. What a little bitch? Why don't you go to, why don't you get into a shootout with the cops? They have have have have have have they have they have they have they have they have they have they have they have they have their they have their their their their, huh. They have their, huh. They have their, huh. They have their, huh. They have their, huh. They have their, huh. They have their, huh, huh. They have their, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh. They their, huh. They their, huh. They their, huh. They have, huh. They have their, huh. They have their, huh. They have their their, huh. They have their their. They have th. They have they have thi. They have they thi. They have they they their, their, their, their, their, their, the like a gangster while he's surrendering to the police. You'll never take me alive, coppers. Please put the handcuffs on gently, yeah. My wrists are so soft. But yeah, once again, Steve Bannon is going to court over allegations that he defrauded Trump supporters over the wall. And can I just ask, how long are the mega crowd going to keep falling for this shit, huh? Trump's people have been fleecing them for seven straight years, and still they're like, Don Jr. says he needs $2 million to reclaim his throne as the Prince of Nigeria.
Starting point is 00:04:12 Let's give him the money, honey. And just by the way, kudos to the prosecutors who even thought to investigate Steve Bannon for stealing millions of dollars. Because I won't lie I would like th this guy. This guy doesn't look like he has $15. Look at him. He doesn't... Millions of dollars. He looks like he sublets from Oscar the Grouch. I wouldn't have suspected him of the money. Now, if we had the time, we could talk more about how instead,
Starting point is 00:04:35 their the most persecuted group in human history. Why do they keep charging us with crimes just because we keep committing crimes? It's not fair. But we don't have the time to talk about any of that because while Trump's inner circle is in trouble with the law, it says for the far-right militia group the oath keepers. It poured over 38,000 names from the leaked list and says it found hundreds of current and former elected officials, law enforcement officers, first responders and members of the military. The ADL says those names include 81 people
Starting point is 00:05:22 who were serving in or running for public office, 373 people believed to currently be serving in law enforcement agencies across our country, and 117 people currently serving in the US military. Right now, more than a dozen oath keepers including the group's founder are facing charges for their roles in the January 6th riot. That's right the oath keepers, a right-wing extremist group just had their roles in the January 6th riot. That's right. The oathkeepers, a right-wing extremist group, just had their membership leaked, right? The entire membership list was reeked. And it turns out that hundreds of them are active members of the government, military, or law enforcement, which is pretty
Starting point is 00:05:56 concerning. I want to get beaten up because he's racist to theelling him to do it, you know? I want him to beat me up because he's racist for the love of the game, you know? Do it for yourself. I do have a question though. Why does a secretive group keep a list of everyone's name? It's just careless, you know? Yeah, that's why they'll never run the world like the Illuminati. The Illuminati is smart. We don't make, they don't make stupid mistakes like that.
Starting point is 00:06:28 They'll never, we'll never give it away. You laugh like I'm really in the Illuminati. You're like, ha, we got you, Trev. I will say it's getting hard to keep track of all of these extremist groups now. You know, it's like the oath keepers, the proud boys, the Patriot Front, it's like the list never ends. I actually feel bad for extremists, you know, because they've got to join all of these different groups, like they're subscribing to different streaming services, you know? I wonder if they share accounts, like, thrKK plus, I can't afford all these hate groups right now. Now look, we could talk more about how it almost doesn't matter that some elected officials
Starting point is 00:07:08 are oathkeepers because there's already a conspiratorial anti-government ideology leading the Republican Party right now, but we don't have the time for that because while some people are trying to overthrow the government, a city in Europe is trying to overthrow your diet. The Dutch city of Harlem maylololololo, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thu, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, is thi, is tho, is tho, is the the tho, is the the the, is the tho, is the tho, is the tho, is the the the the their, is their, is their, is their, is their, is their, is their, is their, is their, is their, be the world's first to ban most meat advertising. The Green Links, that's a green political party, has faced opposition from the meat sector and some who say it stifles free speech, but it says the meat ads need to be banned to prevent climate change. But the Dutch are weird. No, they are. Like, drugs are legal, but they're cracking down on meat?
Starting point is 00:07:49 So what, soon dealers in Amsterdam are going to be in the streets like, Here's your heroin? You'll meet me out back if you want some ribs, man. But yeah, a city in the Netherlands is banning meat ads because eating meat is a major contributor to climate change. And this is a big move because meat advertisements have been around since the beginning of time. That's basically what the cave drawings were, right? I was like, yo, if you see this, eat it.
Starting point is 00:08:20 Trust me. And look, I get it. You don't want to encourage people to do something that's bad for the planet. You know, it's why we don't allow ads for Barbie's dream coal plants. But I don't know about banning meat ads. What I do think they should do is make meat ads a little less sexual. Maybe that should be the law. You know what I'm talking about.
Starting point is 00:08:38 Especially in America. Every fost food food food, every fost food food food food food food food food food food food food food food food food food food food food food food food food food food food food food food food food food food food want our juicy beef patties in your mouth. It's like, so big and meaty, yeah. Dip your nuggets in our special sauce daddy. It's like, damn Wendy's up with my nephew, chill. I'll call you after. Now if we had more time, we could talk about why so little climate policy focuses on the livestock industry, even though it accounts for around 15% of all greenhouse gas emissions. I mean, we always hear about how the the the the the the the the the the the the th th th th th th th. So th. So th th. So th. So the th. So, so big th. So, so big th. So, so big th, so big, so big, so big, so big, so big, so big thi, so big thi's thi's thi's, so big, so big, so big, so big, so big, so big, so big, so big, so thi, so thi, thi, thi, thi, th. So, th. So, th. So, th. So, so th. So, so th. So, so th. So, so th. So, so th. So, so big, so big, so big, so big, so big, so big, so big, t. So, t. So, t. So, t. So, t. So, tip, tip. So, tip. So, tip, tip. So, tip, tip, tipe, tipe, tipe, tipe, tipe on the livestock industry, even though it accounts for around 15% of all greenhouse gas emissions. I mean, we always hear about how the cows emit methane and I'm sure the cows are like, how about you stop eating us first and then we can talk about whether or not we should
Starting point is 00:09:11 stop farting, but we don't have the time for that. Because while the Dutch are getting rid of meat, a Texas judge is getting rid of gay In Texas today is dealing a sucker punch to a key provision of the Affordable Care Act. A federal judge says that employers are not required to cover drugs that prevent HIV infections in their health care plans, adding that mandated coverage by the government of those medications violates their religious beliefs. This was a lawsuit brought by a group of Christian conservatives.
Starting point is 00:09:40 Their argument, literally one of their arguments they made is they don't want to pay for to pay for to pay for to pay for to pay for to pay for to pay for to pay for to pay for to pay for to pay for to pay for to pay for to pay for the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the...... the the the the the the to. to. toea. tea. tea. tea. tea. tea. te. te. te. te. te. thea. thea. thea. thea. thea. their arguments they made is they don't want to pay for these drugs because they quote Facilitate or encourage homosexual behavior which is contrary to their religious beliefs Yeah, you heard that right a Texas court says religious employers don't have to include HIV medication in their health care plan because then the employees might be more likely to have gay sex. And this would violate the employer's rights because it makes the employer complicit in the gay sex. Which is the most ridiculous argument I've ever heard in my life. Yeah, because then by that logic, where do you draw the line, huh?
Starting point is 00:10:20 Employers can say that any medical coverage makes gay sex more likely. Eye exams, oh, so you want to see more men to have gay sex with???? the right? the right? the right? the right? their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their thi's right? their thi' right? thi' right right right right right right right right right right right? thi' rights? thi' right right right right right right right right right thi' right thi' right thi' right thi' right thi' right thi' right? And thi's thi's thi's thi's thi's thi's right? And thi's right? And thi' right? And thi' right, thi' right? And thi' right, their their their their their their their thi' right, thi' right, thi' right, thi' right, thi' right, thi' right, to threatea' right, threatea' right, threatea' right, thi' right, thi' right, thi' right, thi' right, th Employers can say that any medical coverage makes gay sex more likely. Eye exams, oh so you want to see more men to have gay sex with? Huh? Everything, physical therapy. Oh so you'll have the stamina for more gay sex? Dental insurance. Oh so you'll have a nice smile that'll make me want to have gay sex with you? Nice try, Gary, nice try! And you know this is the kind of religious exemption that only evangelical Christians get to claim. And we're like, oh, we're Christians so we can discriminate. Let's see what happens the first time a Muslim employer says, I'm not going to pay my workers. What if they use the money to buy bacon? I can tell you now, no Texas judge is going to be like of Allah. Who am I? Also for the record, wasn't Jesus the one curing lepers for free?
Starting point is 00:11:07 He wasn't showing up asking questions like, yo, before I heal you, uh, you didn't get this leprosy from doing butt stuff, right? I just want to make sure. Now, obviously, we could definitely talk more about how the notion of it. Now, obviously, we could definitely talk country that now basically allows conservatives to discriminate against anyone but we don't have the time for that. Because there is one story that came in and conquered all the other news and it's about the queen.
Starting point is 00:11:31 We do have this breaking news just coming in from Buckingham Palace. Queen Elizabeth the second has died just hours after her doctor said they were concerned for her health. The 96-year-old queen has been at Belmoral Castle in Scotland. Among the people with her at Belmoral, her four children, Andrew, Anne, Edward, and Charles, who is now officially king, automatically ascending to the throne upon the announcement of his mother's death. The queen, of course, the longest reigning monarch in British history and one of the longest raining ever. The queen has died. One, two, two, yes, it's official. the the the the the the the the th. th. th. It's, it's, it's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. th. th. th. th. the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the, the, the, the, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. It's, th. It's, thi. It's, thi. It's, thi. the. thooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooe. And, the.. The Queen has died and long leave the king. Yes, it's official.
Starting point is 00:12:09 At the age of 96, Queen Elizabeth II passed away today. You know, I'm not going to lie, it's been interesting to see how varied the reactions to this news have been. You know, the full spectrum of emotions, everything from, how will the kingdom carry on all the way to, you shouldn't have colonized India, by bitch. It's been really broad. But whatever you think about the royal family or the monarchy, you've got to admit, it's insane how long Elizabeth sat on the throne.
Starting point is 00:12:40 She came to power in 1952. You understand how long that is? That means she's seen Adam West as Batman, Michael Keaton as Batman, Christian Bale as Batman, Sottens as Batman, and look I'm sure there's a better way to measure time than in Batman, but you get it. She's been in the game for a minute. And on top of that, on top of that, she was a queen. The real deal. Because these days that term gets thrown around way too much.
Starting point is 00:13:16 Yeah, you just post a photo of your smoothie online. Everyone's like, yeah, self-care queen. No, that doesn't make you a queen. You're a Duchess of self-care at best. Now in case you're wondering, Prince Charles is now going to be the king, which, let's be honest, is much better than being prince. I mean, he's, no, he's 73 years old, right? And until today, he still had the same title as his own grandchildren. That was weird. The world wasn't wasn't wasn't wasn't wasn't was not thole was not thi w w w w w w w w w w w w w w w w w w w w w w w w w w w w wi th, th th th th th th th th th th thi that that thatheate thate, thate, thate, thate, thate, thate, thate, thate, thate, thate, thate, thate, thate, thate, thate, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that that that that that that thou' that that that that that that that that that that that that th same title as his own grandchildren. That was weird. Yeah, the world wasn't made for an old prince.
Starting point is 00:13:47 I can tell you now, there's no one in a Disney movie who's like, someday my prince will come and he'll wear off the peanut shoes and eat cottage cheese for every meal. Oh! Like, Charles is so old, he's going to be the first royal to ascend the throne in one of those motorized stair lifts. That's how old he is. And look, if we have the time, we could talk about how this might be a good time for Britain to consider whether it wants King Charles on its currency, or maybe this might be a good time to call it quits on the whole monarchy as we know it.
Starting point is 00:14:15 But we just do not have the time for that is our majesty the advertisers. Don't go away, because when we come back, Desilightik will be explaining what the hell Fox News is talking about. Give you right back. Thank you. Thank you. Welcome back to the Daily Show. It has been one month since the FBI raided Donald Trump's beautiful Marilago home and stole his beautiful top-secret documents. And we're still getting new information every day.
Starting point is 00:14:59 Like it just came out that one of the documents in Trump's possession had secret information about a foreign country's nuclear defense capabilities. Yeah, so now America needs to send out letters to every country in the world like those ones you get from your credit card company. It's like, so there was a data breach and you're probably going to want to change your nuclear codes. But even if you think you've been following the story closely, you haven't really, unless you know how they're covering it on Fox News.
Starting point is 00:15:29 So for that perspective, here's Desiletic with another installment of Fox Plains. What is the secret document scandal really about? Why is it happening now? On a scale of one to the most innocent man who's ever lived, how innocent is Donald Trump? Well, I've been watching Fox News for 26 days straight, and I'm ready to Fox Blaine the biggest witch hunt since Dorothy skipped down that yellow brick road with a robot and a furry. People, this wasn't a search. This was a raid. The woke FBI, smashed the window and broke in, and Merrick and Merrick Garland to the bubble bath in Trump's tub and erased everything on his DVR. Starting point is 00:16:07 What Donald Trump did was normal. Everyone brings work home, even when they no longer work there. After I got fired from H&M, I brought home an entire cash register. It is totally normal and not illegal. Joe Brandon's Department of Justice is out of control. Congratulations, FBI. You did it. You found Malani's top secret underwear. Can I see it? Seriously? Donald Trump took documents? Documents? This is no worse than what Hillary did, which was terrible and she should go to prison,
Starting point is 00:16:33 which is why Trump should not go to prison. Do I have to list why it's okay that he has the documents? Okay. Attorney-client privilege, executive privilege, white privilege, diplomatic immunity, uh, the Cabinaw hearings? Trump is technically still the president because he never gave us two weeks notice. Double jeopardy. That's got a good thing, right? Seriously, we're prosecuting Trump on the espionage act. You're trying to get an American president on a French word.
Starting point is 00:16:59 I don't think so, Pepepepeu. No. No, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, America. America, America, America. America, America. America. Where's the raid on Hunter Biden's laptop? Oh, right, the laptop is sitting in a five-star hotel getting a massage and eating caviar.
Starting point is 00:17:20 From China. If they indict Trump for this there will be riots in the streets and if they don't indict him there will also be riots in the streets just like on January 6th which was not a riot it was a normal tourist activity which is good or bad either way I will not be picking up my kids from school that day. Sorry sweeties. This is just another deep state hoax and a major distraction from the real story. Thank you so much for that, Desi. All right, stay tuned because when we come back,
Starting point is 00:17:56 President Biden's Secretary of Labor. You'll be joining me right here on the show. Then go away. Show. Welcome back to the Danish show. My guest tonight is a member of President Biden's cabinet show. My guest tonight is a member of President Biden's cabinet in charge of the U.S. Department of Labor. to be a today's cabinet in charge of the U.S. Department of Labor. Please welcome Labor Secretary Marty Walsh.
Starting point is 00:18:29 Secretary Walsh. Secretary Walsh, welcome back to the Daily Show. It's great to be. A lot's happened in five years. It really has. I mean, the last time you were here, you were the mayor of Boston. Thank you. Secretary Walsh, welcome back to the Daily Show. It's great to be. A lot's happened in five years. It really has. I mean, the last time you were here, you were the mayor of Boston,
Starting point is 00:18:49 and now you have come back and you are the labor of secretary, which means that you do what exactly? I run all the jobs in America. Yeah, yeah. It seems like America's doing a good job right now with the jobs, you know, obviously COVID was one of the worst periods that the world has seen. Millions of people lost their jobs, the economy was in taxes, now things are coming up, but it's an interesting time. The administration wants to get people working, and more importantly, the administration wants to get people working in jobs that actually allow them to earn a living, which is key. Because I think many people have jobs, not everybody. thua. thua. thua. thua. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thee. the. the. the. the. thee. the. the. thin. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thithat they have. That's a true statement. You know, and so at the same time, you have the Fed who is trying to shrink how much money people can earn.
Starting point is 00:19:30 It's a really good time to be in the job market right now because you can earn a lot of money. But it seems like in trying to control interest rates, they're conflicting interests. How do you deal around the country are feeling. And President Biden rolled out a plan as well to deal with inflation. One is gas and we've seen for nine straight weeks in a row gas prices come down. I'm of the camp that you know a good paying job is important for America. It's good for people. And I know that there's some, the Fed has said at some point, you know, having a little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little to to the the the to the the the the the to the the the the the the the the the to the the to the to to be, to be, the to be, to to the their to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their the, thra., trea., trea., trea., trea., trea., trea., toea. can to get more people working. We've had two amazing months in a row of job gain in the United States.
Starting point is 00:20:08 I want to continue to see that trend. I want people to move from jobs that are paying mediocre into better paying jobs. I want to see people to use their think the president wants to see these jobs still being created. Is America's focus on protecting the jobs or protecting the people who are meant to be in those jobs? And the reason I ask that is because I've noticed that different countries have different approaches when it comes to this. For instance, in Sweden and in some Scandinavian, they're really proud of saying, look, we don't actually care about the jobs themselves. We care about the people and we just want to make sure that people can earn
Starting point is 00:20:46 a living wage and we'll move them around. In America, it feels like a lot of the conflict comes from the fact that people are trying to protect the jobs. I'm a coal miner, you know what I mean? I'm a railway worker, I'm a policeman. And now the job. the the the the the the the the the the the the thian is is the the the the the the the the th is the thee is the the thee is thee is a thee is a thee is a thee is a thee is a thee is a thee is a thi is a thee is a thee is a thee. thee. thee is feels thee is feels thi. thiole. It's is a conflict. It's is a conflict. It's is a conflict. It's a conflict. It's a conflict. the the conflict. the conflict. the conflict. the conflict. the conflict. the conflict. the conflict. the conflict is a conflict. the conflict is a conflict. the conflict is a conflict. the conflict is a conflict. the conflict is a conflict. the conflict. the conflict. the person is the thing you're trying to protect. How do you find that balance? Are you trying to protect the job or the person? It's very different. I mean, in Europe, a lot of European countries, when the pandemic began, people were sent home, they were sent home. They were sent home.
Starting point is 00:21:14 Yeah, and they didn't lose the extra help for people that want unemployment. I think in the United States we're totally treating people fairly and creating good opportunities for those folks that they're not concerned about that particular job. That if they lose that job, their life is over. And I think that we have to do a better job of scaling and treating people up. We're looking at the apprentice model, quite honestly that. that. that. And that. And thi. And thi. And thi. And thi. And thi. And thi. And thi. And thi. And thi. And thi. And thi. And thi. And thi. And thi. And thi. And thi. And thi. And threaty and creating thi. And thi's thi's thi's threaty and creating threaty and creating thi and creating thi and creating thi. And creating thi. And creating thi. And creating thi. And creating thi. And creating thi. And creating, thi. And creating, thi. And creating, thi. And creating, thi. And thi. And thi, thi. And thi. And thi. And thi's thi. And thi's thi's threaten and creating threaten, threaten, threaten, threaten, threaten, threaten, threaten, threaten, threaten, threaten, threaten, th these countries have. You know, they're more into apprenticeships than we are. We're more into job training and then you get thrown into the job and you better do it if you don't do it, you don't work there. You know, having these apprenticeships and changing that mindset so we're catching young people earlier too.
Starting point is 00:21:55 Kids that don't, we need to get those folks, those young people into apprenticeships to get into good paying jobs moving forward. Also, you know, in America, we tend to, we get our two weeks vacation and we work 50 weeks a year, we get that two weeks vacation. If you go to another country in the world, European country, they get five, six, seven weeks, and the companies are still successful and productive. So I think that hopefully some of these companies that are making big money, realizing that,
Starting point is 00:22:27 you know, you need to spend some of that on your employees, because if you have good employees and strong employees and happy employees, it'll benefit the company overall. It's always great talking to you. Before I let you go, though, I would love to know your opinion on this. Gen Z has been leading the charge in reestablishing what work should be and how people should think about it in their lives. And one of the terms that's become quite buzzy now is quiet quitting. People say, I only need to work as much as I need to work to get my salary.
Starting point is 00:22:58 For too long, people in America have gone like, I'm the last one in the office. I don't sleep. My family hates me. People are proud of that. And now, Gen Z is saying, no, actually, I will work for what I'm paid for, and then I will go and I will live my life. Many companies are saying this is the worst thing that could happen. Where do you stand on this as the secretary of labor? Let me just say, the first tip I was I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I. And I looked like a complete moron in it. But and then I looked up what it was after the fact. You know, again, that goes back to, I think it goes back to employers, understanding about how they need to know their workforce,
Starting point is 00:23:36 and need to have conversations with their workforce, and need to make sure that workforce understands what the mission is and also is treated fairly. And I think that that has to happen. When I became the mayor of Boston, the biggest group of folks I brought in was millennials. And millennials, quite honestly, in the beginning, if you might jump from job to job the job, they're here for 10 minutes to go to a job after that. And it took me some time to sit down and talk about what what what what what what what what their their working in the workforce. And I think having those conversations with your employees is so important for a corporation or even for government.
Starting point is 00:24:06 Somebody like me, myself, or other elected officials, we need to have those conversations because the quiet quitting piece, you know, you're expecting when you hire somebody to work hard and do the right thing. But if they're not, and there's a reason for it, let's get to hear the heart of what the reason, what the reason, what the reason, what the reason, what the reason, what the reason, let's, let's, let's, let's, let's, let, let, let, let, let, let, let, let, let, let, let's, let's, let's, let's, let's, let's, let's, let's, let's, let's, let's, let's their. Let's their. Let's, let's, let's to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to, let's, let's, let's, let's, let's, let's, let's, let's, let's, let's, let's, or the the the the the the the the the the the their. And, let, let's, let's, let's the the their. their. the the the the the the the tho. the the the tho. the the the. to to to the to to to to to the. Thank you so much for joining the show. Wonderful.
