That's right. The first, let's talk about North Korea. The world's largest escape the room. With the release of three American hostages last week and a major denuclearization summit set for June, America's relationship with insane tele-tubby Kim Jong-un has never been better. In fact, things have been looking so optimistic that President Trump is even getting some awards buzz. You deserve the Nobel Prize, you think? Everyone thinks so, but I would never say it.

No. No. That's very nice. No bell. Trump's fake humility is priceless. He's like, no, no, no guys, no guys, please, no, no, no, they're saying, you ever seen Donald Trump this genuinely happy before? He looks happier than Ben Carson in a mattress store. That's where he looks like. He's like, it's a land of opportunity. But maybe it was all too good to be true. Because last night, North Korea pulled out of a peace summit with South Korea. which is such a drag for President Trump. This was the one thing that he was going to do right. Now, they're screwing him so hard, it's going to cost him 130 grand. On the other hand, on the other hand, I will say this. The Kim of the North North Korea does seem to have some valid reasons. North Korea canceled today's talks with South Korea over ongoing U.S. South Korea military exercises. An exercise called Max Thunder involving the United States Air Force and South Korean forces with about 2,000 troops participating,

according to the Department of Defense. Yeah, you see, South Korea and the US are conducting a big military exercise right on North Korea's doorstep. And I can see why this would make Kim uneasy. I mean, first of all, Max Thunder is a badass name for a military drill. Yeah, it sounds like a gatorade flavor with cocaine in it. But also, imagine you and your enemy agree to me, you agree to be friends, right? And then all of a sudden you see him outside your window practicing karate moves. Just like, yeah! Yeah!

He's like, what are you doing? Oh, hey, Gary, I'm just punching a dummy with your face on it, but it is nothing to do with you. We're cool. I'm gonna kill you, Gary! Yeah! And North Korea's complaints go beyond the military drill. Does everyone remember Trump's national security advisor, John Bolton? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, the the guy, the guy, the guy, the the the the the thiorea, thiorea, th. th. th. th. th. thiorea, thiorea, thiolk, th. th. th. th. th. tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, th. th. Well, well, lately, Bolton's mustache hole has been saying things that have made North Korea feel a little not nice. President Trump's national security advisor John Bolton was singled out by the North Koreans for suggesting that North Korea could be disarmed like Libya 15 years ago. I think we're looking at the Libya model of 2003-2004. The North Koreans don't appreciate the Libya example because eight years after dictator Momar Gaddafi abandoned his weapons development, he was overthrown and killed. What kind of moron uses what the U.S. did in Libya as a sales pitch to another dictator?

Kim Jong-un, here's our opening offer. You shot in the head on the side of the road. Yeah? Hello? Oh, this must be a bad line. This is so dumb. Like, that's not a sales pitch. This would be like Richard Branson saying, thiiiiiii thiiiii. I'll give you the full challenger experience. And what John Bolton said upset North Korea so much that they specifically called him out for antagonizing them, which I think must have made Trump so angry. This whole thing could be screwed up because of him.

I bet he ran into Bolson's office and was like, you idiot! You might have cost me my Nobel Peace Prize. I would punch you, but I still want to win it. I still want to win it. And many people are saying I should win so many people. Nobel, Nobel. Nobel. So, as it stands right now, things are not looking good for the June nuclear summits. But I don't think that we should allow things to fall apart. The president's happiness is at stake, people. And I guess so is world peace or whatever. So, to make things right with Kim Jong-un,

And you know, I was literally doing another show and then five minutes before I was about to go on, I get an email saying the show is canceled. Now you gotta understand, that's like your favorite uncle has just died right now. You know what, what's like? So I go on, oh my God, what do I do? Hi, everyone?

And then literally the whole day goes by. We're depressed, we're mourning, the whole deal, and the internet goes nuts. Everyone I know. Mark Hamill, Germo del Toro, Lynn Manuel Miranda goes nuts on the internet, and they want the show back. But all of a sudden, we're trying to figure out where we're going to go. And, you know, Hulu passed and Netflix

Pass and all of a sudden NBC picked us up 30 hours later Wait, we're not talking days we're talking minutes and hours right so your uncle came back from the dead 30 hours later he walked back in through the door front door and I was like ah I put my legs up all over there You you you have to say I mean like it shows you. Thank you. And then, that news is happening. And at the same time, people are trying to absorb the fact, that's to. To me, I didn't know this, your family didn't know this. Is thrue? No, first of all, it was the biggest thing. Like, if I would have told anybody that was in it, they would have owned my kids. That's the issue.

It's like Marvel, it's about secrecy. It's like CIA, FBI. Secrecy and owning kids. That's a weird business. do not play. I was literally walking to set in my in my whole costume in a blanket hiding from paparazzi from fanboys. They want any bit of information and we had to keep this thing it was under locking key. So what do you tell your family then? So are you just like yeah I'm going to buy some milk? I what what do you say? You know I walked away like Bruce Banner into the forest. I'll be back.

And I was, then I come back out, I'm a little dirty or a little tired. I'm like, I did. I got it. I just imagined your daughter and she's like, I think he's, I think he killed another one. I think he's, he it is it breaks the format, you know, there's a whole different thing. How have you enjoyed it? Like, did you ever think that you'd be able to create this world where you are in many

ways a superhero? We know you from expendables, we know you from all these action movies, but you are also simultaneously one of the funniest human beings out there? When did that become a thing. You know what I mean? And when you are creative, I'm a big, big fan of, like, I hate competition. I could, because for me, competition is the exact opposite of creativity. Like, I'm the only guy who can go from Sesame Street to a Kendrick Lamar video all the way over to Brooklyn 99. And the same day. You know what I mean? And because it's on me. And right now, it's been the key to my career. If you said to me, what is one thing that I think of when I think of Terry Cruz, that would be mold breaker, because that's what you do. You break the mold of what people expect.

Not only are you someone who played in the NFL, but as an accomplished artist and you designed furniture. You are somebody who loves the funny side the the sensitive side. Your name became synonymous with the Me Too movement when you were one of the first men who came out and said, hey, let me tell you about a side of toxic masculinity. Let me tell you about a side of sexual harassment that involves men. And a lot of women gravitated to that because they went like, thank you for exposing how pervasive this is in Hollywood. And there were a lot of men who said, like, I can't believe this would happen to Terry Cruz

and I can't believe Terry Cruz would talk about that. Why was it so important for you to share something that many people would see as a weakness? Well, the things where you know they they totally have him stop listening They've heard it so much. They're just like whatever and what I thrown. What? I mean? What I mean? Because this is the thing you get tricked in the thinking it's part of the job, you know what I mean? the the time. It's the the the the the the the the the th, it. It's th. It's their th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's thoes. thoes. It's their thi. th their their their their they're they're they're they're they're they're they's they's they's they's they's they's they's they's they's they's they's their. It's they's. It's. It's. You get tricked into thinking it's part of the job. You know what I mean? Somebody really crosses the line, you know,

and it's really weird because when I look at things like fraternity hazing, what they are, a lot of times, a sexual assault, master something else. And it's wild because of the thi, and take over you or or show off in the fact What happened to me was this guy was literally trying to show me he had My genitals in his hands, so I think and I'm sitting here and but he's also supposed to be the person who protects me He was my agent and what's so crazy is that, you know, success is the warmest place to hide. And everyone feels like, my God, you know, how can he be this? He's so successful, he's all that.

It's so counterproductive. But it's not. The thing is, successful people know that they can get away with this. That makes it, that's actually one of the things that really is a qualifier for sexual assault because if a police officer rapes you, who are you going to tell? That's the issue. And for me, it was like my agent, he's like, I know you're not going to tell anybody. And you know what, he got the surprise of his life when he found out I was telling everybody. And I told them, and I'm telling the word. And I'm tel it's over, manned the th you th you th you th you th you th you th over th over over on thi thi telling the word, and I'm telling it it's done. This is over, man. It's ridiculous.

It's over on so many levels. You are, yeah, thank you. Yeah. Yeah, it's a, you know what I think is also beautiful about it is. I think on many, in many conversations, men need to speak more about toxic masculinity, the idea of what it means to be a man. The idea of understanding that manhood is not what it has been defined as for such a long time.

And having somebody like you, Terry Cruz, the mold breaker, where you think you know what a man is and you go like, oh, but that is what a man is, it's so important. You wrote a book in 2014. That's right. And at the time, people thought it was going to just be a celebrity, the ma, the ma, the ma, the ma, the ma, the ma, this is me, Terry Cruz, living my life, doing my thing. You wrote about toxic masculinity. Publishers were shocked, and they said, Terry, this is not the book we expected from you. This was before the Me Too movement. This was before this became a big conversation. It has always been important to you.

If there's one lesson you would like to tea toxic masculinity? Well my thing is, you know what, it's impossible to love someone and control them at the same time. And what happens is you've been taught, like men have this thing where if you you must control your world, you control these things and to be a man you must have control, but you can't control other people. That's the issue and people get it mixed up and people are trying to control others and you know, you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you th you to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to control to control to control to control to control to to tho tho th. th. th. th. th. th. to th. to to to to control to to control to to control to to to to to to to th. to th. th. th. to thi thi thi thi thi thi the. to the. the. to to the. to to the to to to to to to to to to to to thooooo. to to the to to to to to the issue and people get it mixed up and people are trying to control others and you know, you know, it's so wild because You know, you telling everyone what to do does not make you the boss You doing everything you told yourself to do makes you the boss and if you understand and this is something I I was a car carrying member of the toxic masculinity group.

I was my way or the highway. I had my family under my fist. It was control. It was dis and now you don't like it's my way, you can get out of here. And all of a sudden, everyone in my life was like, I don't want to be around you. You know what I mean? I was the Marlboro man, going off alone. Right. And I realize I don't want to be alone. I don't want this. This is not what I want.

And I was like something, I've been tricked into thinking these things were part of manhood. And it's part, it's actually when masculinity turns into a cult and you don't accept, you know, you don't look like the things that modern masculinity want from you, you're shunned. It's funny because even now, I'm like, man, Terry Cruz is not a real man because he's showing deference to women and all. I'm going, wait a minute, first of all, if we're all not equal, nobody is equal. That's the issue. That's the thing.

If you don't lift up those that need help, you never get help. And I discovered it. I put put the book the book the book th, I have th, I've th, I've th, I've th, I've th, I've th, I've th, I've th, I've th, I've th, I've th, I've th, I've tho, I've tho, I've tho, I've tho, I put the book out in 2014 and it absolutely feels amazing to be validated right now. You have powerful words and you received the Voice of Courage Award just last night at the Safe Horizon Champion Awards. And what really touched me about your remarks was you spoke about growing up in a home of domestic abuse. That's right.

This is something I, you know, I relate to, I grew up in a home of domestic abuse. This is something I relate to. I grew up in a home of domestic abuse as well. I think a lot of men are afraid to talk about what effect that has on them as a human being and as a man. Understanding you have to break that cycle, understanding the psychological effects it has on you. When you spoke about what it was like experiencing domestic abuse, seeing your mom in that situation. That must have been a painful experience to share, but I'm assuming it was also cathotic.

Has it changed the way you've lived with your family, understanding what your pauses entailed? Oh, definitely. In fact, my daughter Azriel presented me with the award because, you know, it's wild because I look back. I remember, I remember looking at videos and I was yelling at her as if she was a 30 year old man and I mean she was just this little baby girl and now she's 27 she lives here in New York and I remember I was just in tears like that was me how could I do this to her like because now I've grown I've seen it but you got to understand it's weird

because you all everyone needs wake up but you gotta understand it's weird because you all, everyone needs wake-up calls, you know, there's things that you always think are right, like when I was a kid, we used to ride in the back of pickup trucks at 70 miles an hour on the freeway, we waive it to cops and the cops and hung back, hey, hey, how you're like, they're like, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, there, there, there, there, there, there, there, there, there, there, there, there, there, there, there, there, there, there, there, there, there, there, there, there, there, there, there, there, there, there, there, there's, there's, there's things, there's things, there's things, there's things, there's things, there's things, there's things, there's things, there's things, there's things, there's things, there out of trees. Right. Then they started pulling kids' body parts off the freeway. And they were like, you know, maybe they should buckle up. Right, right. Maybe they should be in the car, buckled up. Right.

This is how we are. This is what I realized. Like, things I thought were cool. their thooxic. And I looked at that video and then and I was just in tears and I always I come back to my kids and I'm like, I'm so sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry. But to have her present me with that, I'm telling you, I was like, I'm making amends where we can fix this thing. This thing is fixable everybody. It's good news because what, 20 years ago we could never talk about this stuff ever. And I said if I want I I I I I want I want I want I want I want I want I want I want I want I want I want I want I want I want I want I want I want I want th. I want th. I want th. I want th. I want th. I want to to to to th. I want to to to to to to to to th. I'm thi to to to to to to to to have to have to have to have to have to have to have so so th. I'm so sorry. I'm so th. I th. Now everything can change.
