Starting point is 00:00:00 During busy seasonal stretches, maintaining a daily wellness routine comes down to pure convenience. When calendars fill up with travel and packed plans, people want more energy without adding extra steps to their day. Grooons solves that by turning nutrition into one easy daily habit, replacing messy powders and multiple pill bottles with a convenient, delicious, daily pack of gummy bears. Grooons is far more than a standard multivitamin or green supplement. It combines whole food nutrition, vitamins, and prebiotics into one comprehensive formula at a fraction of the cost. While generic multivitamins only contain around seven to nine vitamins, Grooons delivers over 20 vitamins and minerals and 60 whole food ingredients.
Starting point is 00:00:44 Each pack has six grams of prebiotic fiber, triple the dietary fiber of leading greens powders, and more than two cups of broccoli. Plus, it's vegan, nut-free, gluten-free, dairy-free, HSA-FSA-FSA eligible, and available in low-sugar or sugar-free options. From a formulation standpoint, Grooens is designed for higher bioavailability, meaning nutrients are absorbed and utilized far more effectively by the body. Backed by over 35,000 research publications, it accurately doses vitamins at 100% and key minerals at safe, effective levels.
Starting point is 00:01:23 This target nutrition directly aids gut health, energy, immunity, recovery, cognition, and overall vitality in one daily treat. Like, what if it doesn't hold up? That sofa was four days old.
Starting point is 00:01:52 You should have ordered from Wayfair. With Wayfair, there's no what-if. Just style you love and quality you can. trust. Visit wayfair.ca. Wayfair, every style, every home. You're listening to Comedy Central. Face it, commuting sucks. Subways smell like rat sex.
Starting point is 00:02:31 Buses have other people on them. And forget driving. City streets are more clogged than my colon. I mean, it's no problem for me because I get around by parkour. But for those of you who are less agile, there's a new option. From ride sharing to bike sharing,
Starting point is 00:02:51 there are plenty of ways to get around without driving your own car, and now in dozens of cities across the country, electric scooters are giving people a fun way to get to their destinations. It's the invasion of the birds. We're talking about the electric scooters called bird. The motorized scooters are catching on across the country. Riders find them with an app on their phone
Starting point is 00:03:09 and can ride for as little as a dollar. The scooters can hit speeds of up to 15 miles an hour. I love it so far. It's really convenient. Wow, 15 miles an hour. You can get to your destination five minutes earlier. And all you have to do is give up your dignity. There's a lot of things to hate about these scooter-sharing programs. For starters, there's no dock.
Starting point is 00:03:35 People just leave them lying around anywhere for the next person to find them. That's not sharing. That's lettering. You can't do that with anything else. anything else? Hey, how about I launch a dog poop-sharing app? I'm not leaving my dog shit on the sidewalk, I'm sharing it with the community. Now that scooters are taking up space everywhere, but their riders are also taking
Starting point is 00:04:08 up space in the hospital. Lisa Beardsley says she suffered torn ligaments and a hairline fracture in her arm when she was forced to jump off what she says was a malfunctioning bird scooter about two months ago. And now, Doctors say they're seeing an uptick in injuries. But it's not just riders getting hurt. It was like I was walking down the pier and I got hit by a motor vehicle. Dancing Dave Peterson is a street performer.
Starting point is 00:04:34 He says he lost months of work and had to simplify his act after a man on a scooter hit him from behind and left. Yeah. Look what you bastards did to dancing Dave. He couldn't work for two months. Which means he lost 15. box and a stale cronut. You know what pisses me off about Silicon Valley?
Starting point is 00:04:57 They don't worry if something's good or bad for us. They just want to sell their damn app. Fortunately, there are a few brave souls out there who are standing up to these two-wheeled menaces. These birds don't fly. And they're not designed for this. Whether they're launched from buildings, sent off of mountaintops, thrown into the ocean,
Starting point is 00:05:21 or push down storm drains, an Instagram account called Bird Graveyard is documenting all the ways electric scooters are meeting their demise. Okay, this is officially my new favorite thing on Instagram. I mean, I used to just like Instagram for the contouring tips. Don't pretend you haven't noticed my pronounced cheekbones. But protesters trashing stories,
Starting point is 00:05:50 Trashing scooters is the best. It's classic civil disobedience, like the time Gandhi keyed his shift manager's Hyundai. Anyway, it doesn't look like there's a solution any time soon, so I stepped in to fix it with my own high-tech product. It's an audio device that you attach to electric scooters that warns pedestrians to look out. Here's how it works.
Starting point is 00:06:17 The bag has places to be. It's now available on my website. F***a Amazon. Now for another perspective on the world around us, we go to our newsroom, where Daily Show commentator Lewis Black is standing by. Thanks, Craig. You know, I've been laying around this past week or so
Starting point is 00:06:54 watching the Olympics, and I've got to tell you something. You know, how stupid are we as a culture to sit there, lie down for like eight or nine hours on a Saturday or a Sunday and watch perfect sports? specimens of humanity do things that are absolutely astounding. While I lay there, you know, just like eating, did they eating to eat?
Starting point is 00:07:11 Just eating! You know what happens after about two hours of that? I just feel like a big fat pig. I am tired of it. I'm tired of the Olympics. I'm tired of the interviews. There's no reason on Earth for, what are they asking these people? The swimmers, they're in the, they've been in the pool eight, 12 hours a day since they were four years old.
Starting point is 00:07:30 Their brains are chapped. And while we're on the subject, these gymnasts, their brain casings, they've got the brain casing of a doberman for crying out loud. And they don't menstruate. The women don't menstruate, and that isn't right. Okay? Now, I've got to say that at least now I understand how they get these kids to do it, because if I was five years old and they told me where you're going to be bleeding every month. And then they said, but there's an option, I'd be doing backflips for the rest of my life. Now, you know, this Carrie Strugg story was just a little too much for me.
Starting point is 00:08:00 Here she is, sweet girl, yeah, a tremendous moment. Let me tell you something. Baroli, Corolli, whatever, that, whatever, that, that, that, he's just, I've got a word for it, but I've forgotten it. That, that son of a gun. You know, she's peaked. She's going to wake up, I guarantee this, when she's in college. Turn over to be a fat fraternity guy. She's going to do a backflip out the window.
Starting point is 00:08:20 Back to you, Craig. Thank you, Lewis, carrying the John Chancellor torch with pride. Continuing our focus on the fourth, because, as you may know, the Daily shows the exclusive sponsor of Summer. We recently sent Stephen Colbert down south, way down south, to make sure those folks were making the most of their lazy days. Welcome to Sweet, Sleepy, Pulaski, Tennessee, birthplace of the KKK and host of this year's 1997
Starting point is 00:08:51 European Culture and Crafts Festival, starring America's sweetheart, the White Nights themselves, The Koo, Klox Klan! It's racist fun for the whole family, with crafts, dancing, and hate literature. I guess that makes them Aryan librarians. And what symbolizes rabid redneck rhetoric more than a clown? My name is Candy, the clan clown.
Starting point is 00:09:14 And what's funny about the clan? There's not a lot really funny about it. We're here to have a good time. This is the parade route. In just a minute, over that hill, we'll see literally tens of people march for white pride. Alpton right here is the Confederate flag. He has the clan, the flag of the night. Well, that's the flag of scone. The old flag of Germany, the old Russian flag.
Starting point is 00:09:38 They may not like f***es, but they love flags. Are you here for the white bride parade? Oh, honey, no. What is the white, uh, the Ku Klux Klan? The Ku Klux Klan, yes. Oh, no. Whose heart doesn't beat a little quicker when they see Klan's been marching on a hot summer day? Do you have any local names for the Klan? Well, we used to refer to him as the, uh,
Starting point is 00:10:00 Sheetheads. I'm sorry, one more time. Sheet heads. I didn't know that. Jew? It's been a fantastic day, but it ain't over yet. When the sun goes down, it's time to party. It's been a great day.
Starting point is 00:10:20 What's the exciting event tonight? Well, for us, it's a cross lighting, and we'll be having in a few minutes. Yeah, this feels right. Who can become a member? Christian. You have to be a Christian. You have to be white.
Starting point is 00:10:34 What about homosexuals? No. What about hematheliacs? No. Animated characters? It depends. Mickey. Good.
Starting point is 00:10:42 Donald. Yes. Goofy? No. Too goofy. No, there's nothing goofy about these guys. There it is. What a party.
Starting point is 00:11:01 Ain't no cure for the summertime blues. Then you've never been to a clan rally. Stephen Colbert, ladies and gentlemen. I actually thought that was a very interesting story. Yeah, John, and best of all, I had a blast. I mean, these were just good people, you know, good folk. You know, hardworking, salt of the earth, red-blooded Americans who know how to throw a party. I mean, you would have a who. You should go down for the fourth.
Starting point is 00:11:38 I actually, I don't think so, Stephen. You know, I don't think they really want Jewish people at their picnic. What are you talking about? You're not... Oh, yeah, yeah, I see what you mean. Yeah, maybe not. Maybe not. I mean, you people probably don't celebrate the fourth anyway, right? Stephen Colbert, ladies and gentlemen, thank you very much. You know, June is Pride Month, a time when the LGBT community celebrates the right to be seen and recognized.
Starting point is 00:12:29 But our corporations part of that community where we sent Djibuki Young White to Pittsburgh to find out. Hi, I'm Djibuki Young White. The Daily Show's senior Rust Belt correspondent, JK, I'm gay, and so is Pittsburgh. It's Pride Month, and Equality March is the original Pittsburgh Pride. It has bikers, pups, pups, furries, queens, twunks, drunks, cops, bears, and fish creatures. But there's one group that not everyone is happy about. A lot of corporations are capitalizing off pride and off LGBTQIA plus like,
Starting point is 00:13:05 merch, I don't know, they're just making a lot of money off this. That's what the Q and LGBTQIA stands for. Corporations. Okay. Yeah. But surely discriminating against our pride-loving corporations can't be the answer. Pittsburgh Pride Equality March is for everybody. It doesn't matter who you are, where you work, or who you love.
Starting point is 00:13:25 And just so you know, we love corporations, Viacom, you're great. Keep doing what you do. We're really big fans here at the Daily Show Viacom. Muh. Love you. So the answer is obviously to hug these corporations close. And corporations are hugging right back. Google, KPMG, Aetna, Lyft, not Chick-Fleigh, and here comes the true sleigh queen, Walmart.
Starting point is 00:13:48 Is Walmart gay? Walmart does take pride in their gay associates as a company. I don't think you can label a company with a sexual orientation. Walmart seems like a top to me. I would agree with that. Yeah. I think it's amazing that so many people could come out and just live their truth as a marketable demographic. For sure, and they've really made it like a safe place for everybody, I think, for us too.
Starting point is 00:14:12 Yeah, yeah, yeah, 100%. It's like, here I am. I'm queer. I have a debit card. Everyone's gay as hell now. And gays love money, bitch. You know that, so. So queer capitalism is totally chill. Actually, there is a specific issue with corporate sponsorship in Pittsburgh, and it involves the F word.
Starting point is 00:14:29 No, not that. Fracking. There's a lot of corporations that are seemingly buying last Last year this march was called the EQT Equality March. EQT doesn't stand for equality, it stands for they're a fracking company. Do you think that it's appropriate that a fracking company is a sponsor for Pittsburgh Pride? Lull. I think that it is completely inappropriate that a fracking company is a sponsor for anything. EQT doesn't just shoot hot liquid deep into holes in the ground.
Starting point is 00:14:55 They also swing both ways by supporting Pride and various anti-gay politicians. So what are people supposed to do have a separate pride without corporate sponsors? Some say frack yes. This pride event represents the people, non-corporational pride, something that centers our TLGBTQ communities of Pittsburgh. Do you think corporations can be gay people? No, corporations cannot be gay people. The people's pride is non-corporate, has more color in its rainbow, and I found someone
Starting point is 00:15:29 who can keep up with my moves. But are they turning their back on progress? Don't you think it's beautiful that queer people have been able to come out and live their truth as a marketable, capitalizing, demographic? No. I would think it would be beautiful if those actions were genuine. They want to be a part of what's trending right now. Right now being gay is trendy, you know, pose is out, and there are lots of gay celebrities now. Could you name a couple?
Starting point is 00:15:54 Yeah. So off top of my head right now, Big Frida. There's Deshaun-Wessly and Leomy Maldonado. They don't even want my brand. This is where I draw the line. There has to be some way for corporations like EQT to prove that they're really committed and not just experimenting.
Starting point is 00:16:13 Like maybe they just need to show that they're really about queer subculture in like a more inventive, creative way. I'm afraid where you're going with this. I thought that maybe this could really get across the message of what EQT stands for. It's like drilling, but also... It's a little fast.
Starting point is 00:16:30 With the... But just slow it down. Maybe that. That's right. Progress takes time. 50 years ago, corporations wouldn't touch the gay community. And now, they can't wait to show their love in public. And what better way to reciprocate that love than with the EQT very speed deep-wracking drill down?
Starting point is 00:16:51 Brought to you by EQT. We're going to explore the pros and cons of gestation crates
Starting point is 00:18:50 with newest Daily Show correspondent Hassan Minaj, representing team turnaround and relatively senior correspondent Jordan Klepper from team... Team One Direction. Really? One Direction. Are you sure that's the name? You want to... Yeah, John. Clearly, I'm on the right side of this pig thing. Do you know how many teenage girls high-fived me on my way to work? Nice. All right, we're going to start with you. Hassan, Hassan, first of all, welcome to the show. We're awfully excited to have you there.
Starting point is 00:19:19 Let me ask you first. Why are you against the use of gestation crates? Thank you, John. You know, John, farm animals give their lives to give us sustenance. And in return, do we not owe it to them to make their time on this earth, however brief it is, as dignified as possible. For when we brutalize the helpless creatures
Starting point is 00:19:43 who depend on us, aren't we in fact brutalizing our own souls? Oh my God, that was beautiful. Thank you so much as that. Return, Jordan. Ah, I don't think pigs should turn around. I don't like it. You want to elaborate on that? One more? Sure, John.
Starting point is 00:20:13 They should be facing forward. Make sure they can't move. Biggs are fine, clamped right in there. Um, uh, Hassan. Is this how the debates usually go? I don't, I don't, I don't. Uh, it's my first day. Okay, okay, let's see.
Starting point is 00:20:34 I have a, uh, I got a Bible verse here. I got poetry from college. Okay, um, okay, here we go. You know I got one. No, no, no, no. The great, the great philosopher, Emmanuel Kent, one said. Here's what I got.
Starting point is 00:20:47 When I eat bacon, I want to know it's been facing forward. That's where the flavor comes from. Really? You can taste the difference between pork raised in crates where they can't move and pork raised more humanely. You can taste that. Okay. Probably not. I just don't like pigs facing different directions. They shouldn't move. It's a gut thing.
Starting point is 00:21:12 Final thoughts, this on? I don't even... Okay. Um... I just want everybody to know that history will judge us by how we... we treat the creatures who serve us? That's beautiful. Jordan, do you have something you want to close with? No, that's nice.
Starting point is 00:21:30 It's nice. That's nice. Jordan, why don't you try one? Pigs shouldn't turn around. It's like Friday night lights. Eyes front, clogged hearts, can't move. Hassan Minaj and Jordan Club, everybody. That seems like a simple question of manners taking up two seats when you could take up one
Starting point is 00:21:54 has somehow opened a new front in the culture war. Leg spreaders, they're the worst. Men, bad. Yeah. It's more confident. Yeah. Yeah, the other one's a little with restraining. Men's groups are calling it male oppression.
Starting point is 00:22:11 And apparently calling themselves men's groups. Take that for what it's worth. For more, we're joined by senior women's issues correspondent, Kristen Shaw. Kristen. This is a big deal, John. And I just want to say men, I'm sorry. You should absolutely have that extra seat. serve that extra seat.
Starting point is 00:22:41 But do the math. Men make 30% more than women. They should have 30% more space on the ride to work. There's not a, Chris, this is not even what it's about. This is just an issue of common courtesy on the subway. That's... Oh, no, John. You've been so brainwashed by this feminized world.
Starting point is 00:23:03 You can't even see everything that men have lost. You used to run companies by yourself. You used to run countries by yourself. You used to do everything. Just you dudes. And if a woman showed up, you got to call her sugar tits with no consequences. You gave her a seat in the typewriter pool with all the other sugar titses. Minor point.
Starting point is 00:23:29 I think it's tits eye. Tits eye. The subway is the only place men have left. We've literally driven you underground to find that last inch of ball space. And now society's society. saying, no, even there a man's place is on one seat, knees together. As a woman who has struggled her entire life to keep her knees together, I am your ally. Well, that, you know, I, you may not be aware of this, but one regular subway seat does grant you a good amount of ball space.
Starting point is 00:24:12 It's not, it's not. Wow. What? Wow. What? John, can I talk directly to your test. for a second because I think you're holding them hostage. Poor caged balls.
Starting point is 00:24:30 Your ancestors used to roam free. The wind blowing through your soft fuzzy hair, the sun soaking up into your wrinkled skin, knowing that this day, this land, this whole goddamn world was yours. That was actually, that was quite moving. That was... Oh, John, your balls are crying.
Starting point is 00:24:59 Not crying. Not crying, Kristen. They're allergic to wool. Come on, John. Just get it together. Occupying all the territory you can is sexy. When I'm in a subway car with all those men taking charge of the seats around them, I get so weak in the knees I can barely stand. But I have to. See, that seems rude to make you stand in that. John, who's the manliest man in the world? That's George Clooney's the manliest.
Starting point is 00:25:32 Yes, Jean-Claude Van Dam. All right. And look how much room he needs for his balls. Would you call that rude or amazing? It's amazing. I think my balls would protest to move like that. Well, then get out of the way. Because this man spreading train is going express. It's no longer about individual comfort.
Starting point is 00:25:58 It's a movement. The MTA wants to run its ads? Fine. We're going to run ours. When they tell men to rein it in, you lock those legs together. United, we sit. I don't know how effective a movement is, but it seems a nice way to make a friend. Oh, my God, you guys,
Starting point is 00:26:18 is the loneliest man. No, that's not. She doesn't mean that, guys. Don't. Listen, I want to see men fighting the good fight, spreading with pride. And hey, while you're at it, maybe, you know, show us what you're fighting for. I don't understand what you're...
Starting point is 00:26:42 Well, just don't be so tight, Sugarballs. You don't give us a little. Just a little pique. Like this guy, you're not showing the whole sack. Cleavage, if you're joining the movement, we've got to see the goods you're moving. Right? Kristen Shaw, everybody.
Starting point is 00:26:58 We'll be right back. Kristen Shaw. For more on this, we turn to our own financial expert and part-time money lender. Roy Wood Jr., everybody. Not only do Minutian's numbers not add up, but polls say that this Republican tax bill is super unpopular.
Starting point is 00:27:25 Unpopular? No, br. Ebola is unpopular. Dating people your own age in Alabama is unpopular. My choices of wardrobe and middle school were unpopular. This tax bill is trash. Say it with me, Trevor. Trash. Trash.
Starting point is 00:27:42 Trash. Trash. Well, yeah, but, Roy, it makes sense. It makes sense. The bill gives rich people huge cuts, and it hurts average Americans. At this point, it seems like the only solution for the Republicans is to rework the tax plan. No, no, no, no, dude. They don't have to rework anything.
Starting point is 00:27:58 They're just selling it wrong. The problem is, they're out here pretending like this bill isn't for the rich. Stop fronting, man. Just ball out. Don't change the bill. Change the message. Wait, what?
Starting point is 00:28:10 Half of being rich. Part of the fun of being rich is being able to rub it in a poor person's dusty-ass face. The Republican's attitude, look, the Republican's whole attitude about this tax plan should just be, hey, look, America, check this. We just signed paperwork. We're about to be stunting on you broke bitches.
Starting point is 00:28:31 We riding clean. We flossinging. We poppin our collar. Get my private jet. All you broke-ass middle-class haters about to be sitting on struggle. And if any of you punk-ass Democrats got anything to say about it,
Starting point is 00:28:44 please believe I ride with my mother-fitting Second Amendment and I keep mine on me, my fo' folk, make sure all your kids go broke. That's what the Republicans should say. I mean, that's cool and everything, Roy, but there's no way that would work. You can't get people on your side if you're bragging about getting rich in their face.
Starting point is 00:29:13 Clearly, you've never heard of hip-hop. When you think about it, hip-hop and Republicans have a lot in common. They even came up the same. Old-school Republicans, like Lincoln Republicans, they stood for the same things as old-school hip-hop, community, justice, power to the people. Now it's just about getting paid.
Starting point is 00:29:33 I mean, tax cuts for private jet owners and alcohol distributors, that's basically a two-chains video. Look at this. Look at these rappers. Now look at Mnuchin at his wife. The only difference is that Mnuching's money is uncut. Which is a little weird because it's hard to make it rain. We just got to throw a sheet of money.
Starting point is 00:30:00 Look, Republicans, America ain't mad at you for wanting to get rich. We're mad at you for pretending this is about the middle class. Just tell the truth. Stop bullshit and sell your lavish lifestyle the same way. rappers do. All you need is a dope-ass beat. The tax cuts and jobs act as amended is passed. Tax cuts on my private jet. This past.
Starting point is 00:30:23 Witing off private school. His past. Look at your broke gas. This past. Big win for the corporation. His past. Drilling for oil in Alaska. Cut mandatory health and shit.
Starting point is 00:30:31 His past. Bill will, however, double the amount of money that teachers can write off. His past. At the end, there was not a single Democrat who thought this was a good idea. You complain about process when you're losing. And that's what you heard on the floor tonight. Is past. Lordwood Jr., everybody.
