President Trump talks tariffs and women's rights.
Jeffrey Goldberg reveals the top secret war plans he witnessed,
and there was a lot of yelling in the House of Representatives.
I'm Tony Kennett from the Daily Signals's Tony Kenned cast, syndicated nationally at 7 p.m. Eastern.
It is Thursday, March 27, 2025.
This is the Daily Signal's top news in 10.
The President of the United States began yesterday by issuing a new series of automotive tariffs.
A 25% tariff was imposed on the following imports, passenger vehicles including sedans,
SUVs, crossovers, minivans, cargo vans, and light trucks, key automobile parts, such as
engines, transmissions, power train parts, and electrical components.
Here's President Trump explaining.
And this is very modest.
And what we're going to be doing is a 25% tariff on all cars that are not made in the United
States.
If they're made in the United States, it's absolutely not tariff.
We start off with a 2.5% of a 10% tariff.
base, which is what we were at, and we go to 25%. And basically, as you know, and as you've been
saying, not reporting as it should be reported because it's a massive story. Business is coming
back to the United States so that they don't have to pay tariffs. Two of the automotive
manufacturers who have announced they are moving back production to the United States as a
result of Trump's tariff threats include Rolls-Royce and South Korea's Hyundai. Hyundai announced
announced $20 billion in new U.S. investments. President Trump also delivered a few comments at a
White House Women's History event yesterday in which he criticized the Biden administration's policies
and views on gender transitions, as well as hormonal treatments and medications in the pursuit
of gender transitions. For four long years, we had an administration that tried to abolish the
very concept of womanhood and replace it with radical gender ideology. Maybe you heard something about
that. They destroyed women's spaces and even tried to replace the word mother with the term
birther person. A mother became a birther person. What's that all about? Then you wonder why
they lost. They're trying to figure out why did they lose. I saw a congressman today for the Democrats.
He was having a big fight on television early this morning trying to make it so that really he thinks
men should play in women's sports. He hasn't given that up yet. He was fighting like crazy. I said,
This guy is going to lose, he's going to lose badly.
The whole party is still into that.
They haven't learned.
And we don't want them to learn, frankly.
We want them to keep fighting.
Let's not tell them.
Under the Trump administration, we're ending the Marxist war on women, and you had a war on women,
and we're protecting women's rights, defending women's dignity, and standing up for the American moms and daughters.
So many are represented here of great people in this room.
American women have never had bigger champions than all of us.
us in the White House. I mean, it's me, but it's
the group of men and
women. When day one, I made the official
policy of the United States government
that there are only two genders,
male and female.
Is there
anybody, seriously, is there anybody
that disagrees with that in this room?
I was thinking maybe
somebody from the press might raise the end.
I don't think so.
There aren't too many people.
You know, it's amazing. It's got to be
like a 98%
issue, right? So what are they doing, Marjorie? What are they doing? They're fighting for a 2% issue. That's good.
Let them keep doing it. No matter how many surgeries you have or chemicals you inject, if you're
born with male DNA in every cell of your body, you can never become a woman. You're not going to be a
woman. And that's why last month I proudly signed a historic executive order to ban men from
competing in women's sports and it was very popular and very very popular we had a track meet and I
it was so disparaging to great women athletes I've known so many great women athletes I gave
Anika sorenstam the Medal of Freedom here not so long ago and these are unbelievable athletes
but it's so ridiculous they had a track meet and you heard me talking about long a long
distance track meet the man won by five hours and 14 minutes and 12 seconds
And I said, this is not good.
And you want to see worse?
Take a look at the weightlifting records.
Take a look at the boxing.
Take a look at this.
The whole thing is ridiculous.
And frankly, it's demeaning to women.

After saying he would not release what he described as war plans for the sake of national security,
Jeffrey Goldberg, editor-in-chief of the Atlantic, released the remaining messages of the Signal group chat scandal.
After Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegsetth claimed,
that there was no classified war plan information in this signal group chat among top officials that Goldberg was added to.
The messages in question that Goldberg ended up releasing anyway didn't show the names of targets, target locations,
take off points for the FAA 18s, take off points for the Reaper drones,
names of the pilots and or operators, their flight, squadron group, wing, ship, ship group,
flight return points, explosive poundage, or any information which could put U.S. troops in danger other than,
in two hours, F-18s will be in the air, and the Navy will shoot a couple Tomahawk missiles.
The Atlantic has since walked back its claim that the messages were war plans, then calling them
attack plans in a following article.
Democrat senators like Elizabeth Warren have stepped back even further, now calling the supposed
messages sensitive information.
That didn't stop Representative Jim Himes of Connecticut from claiming that it was a miracle
U.S. troops weren't killed and that boats weren't sunk, defending Goldberg.
Congressman, how was an American life put into jeopardy?
We will find out.
How?
Because.
You've made a claim.
Tell me how an American life is put into jeopardy.
Because in an insecure channel, in what was acknowledged as a mistake, before, whether it was a day or two hours or five hours, in a signal chat that we know.
Do you want an answer to your question?
In a signal chat that we know that the Russians could intercept, they might have told the Houthis in an hour.
And in half an hour, they're moving their anti-aircraft stuff around.
it is by the grace of God that we don't have dead pilots or sunken ships right now.
And I will tell you whether it's a big mistake or a small mistake,
to then go and attack Jeffrey Goldberg, without whom we wouldn't even know about this mistake.
Jeffrey Goldberg and the Atlantic have repeatedly published false and heavily embellished reports,
including a discredited rumor that President Trump had referred to D-Day veterans as suckers and losers,
denied by those present at the alleged time both friendly and very much not fans of
President Trump, not to mention the numerous Russian collusion claims and election interference claims that never bore fruit or evidence.
That brings us over to the fair amount of yelling in the House of Representatives committees yesterday.
In a hearing regarding the polling of federal funding for public media stations and corporations,
Democrat Representative Jasmine Crockett of Dallas, Texas, started to get a little bit amped up over her claims that Republicans didn't care about those in rural
communities. And the idea that you want to shut down everybody that is not Fox News is bullsh-s.
We need to stop playing because that's what y'all are doing in here. You don't want to hear
the opinions of anybody else. And the Constitution states, Congress shall make no law respecting
or establishing of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof or abridging the...
The gentlewoman's time has expired. On the flip side, Brandon Gill, representative of Texas 26th
congressional, grilled NPR head Catherine Mayer over prior discriminatory views, which
mayor completely denies any knowledge of, though they came from her own Twitter account.
Do you believe that America believes in black plunder and white democracy?
I don't believe that, sir.
You tweeted that in reference to a book you were reading at the time, apparently,
the case for reparations.
I don't think I've ever read that book, sir.
You tweeted about it.
You said you took a day off to fully read the case for reparations.
You put that on Twitter in January of 2020.
Do you think that white people should pay reparations?
I have never said that, sir.
Yes, you did.
You said it in January of 2020.
You tweeted, yes, the North, yes, all of us, yes, America.
Yes, our original collective sin and unpaid debt.
Yes, reparations.
Yes, on this day.
I don't believe that was a reference to fiscal reparations, sir.
What kind of reparations was it a reference to?
I think it was just a reference to the idea that we all owe much to the people who came before us.
That's a bizarre way to frame what you tweeted.
Our political editor Bradley Devlin got a chance to sit down with Representative Gill
in an episode of The Signal Sitdown that is well worth the listen.
We'll link that in the description below.
And Democrat Representative Ayanna Presley, representative of Massachusetts 7th Congressional,
made a couple of interesting claims about the racial makeup of the Trump administration
and then some very specious policy claims following.
The Trump cabinet is on track to be one of the whitest cabinets in modern history.
And when the government is given unchecked authority, civil rights are often the first to be sacrificed without this amendment.
Nothing in this bill stops an administration from using its reorganization powers
to weaken the enforcement of civil rights and anti-discrimination protections.
You may say, but Tony, you haven't talked about the Supreme Court rulings on ghost guns
or the latest rulings from District and Appeals Court judges on the Trump administration's Article 2 Authority.
I hear your concerns, but rest easy.
