This is Tyler O'Neill, and this is a Daily Signal podcast bonus episode for Friday, May 26th.
I sat down with Senator Josh Hawley of the Great State of Missouri just before he gave really inspiring remarks at the National Religious Broadcasters Convention on Wednesday.
So here is the brief interview we did there and just think you can read.
more about his speech at DailySignal.com.
This is Tyler O'Neill, a managing editor at The Daily Signal,
and I'm honored to be joined by Senator Josh Hawley from the great state of Missouri.
Thank you so much for having me.
Great to be with you.
Senator Hawley, you have a new book on manhood coming out.
Would you address some of, you know, the worst attack on manhood that you've seen
and how your book really speaks into that?
I think the worst attack on manhood is the lie the left is told for years now,
which is to be a man is to be toxic, that to be a man is to make the world a worse place
just by existing, that to be a boy, that there's something fundamentally wrong with that,
we've got to turn that narrative around because it's a lie. The truth is, we need stronger
men in America who will take on responsibility, who will be protectors, who will be providers,
who will be independent, and by doing those things will transform their families in this nation.
Yeah, and you've opened a very important investigation into the St. Louis Gender Clinic
after that brave whistleblower revealed the transitions on children for the flimsiest of circumstances.
Is there anything you can say about that investigation?
Well, that it's ongoing and that it's much needed, and I want to applaud our state attorney general,
who's also taking decisive action legally in the state to try to protect kids.
Listen, what that whistleblower said was that kids were given surgeries that, of course,
permanently mutilated their bodies, drugs that sterilized them without their consent. These are kids
now. And even worse, without their parents' knowledge or consent. It is the most unbelievable
series of reports and accusations. And we now have had parents come forward and say, yeah, that's
accurate. I mean, this has happened. We need to know every kid who was victimized. We need to
know where the money is coming from. You know, these clinics are popping out all around the country.
And that money comes from somewhere. So I want to know who's funding it. Is it being?
Is it the federal government?
Who is funding this attack on our kids that in so many cases is really, it's a medical
travesty, not to mention a personal and moral one.
Yeah, and we've also seen the stalling of the debt ceiling debate in, you know, in
the Senate after the House actually did its job and passed a really difficult bill to increase
the debt ceiling.
What are you seeing in the Senate?
You know, the Democrats seem utterly unwilling to play ball.
You know, I think that nothing's going to happen in the Senate until the president actually comes forward with the plan and agrees to something with Speaker McCarthy.
I mean, the truth is that Chuck Schumer, his Democrats won't vote for anything until Joe Biden signs off on it.
And right now, you know, the president, he fiddled around for 100 days, did nothing, offered nothing, and now we're down to the wire.
Whose fault is that?
His fault, as you pointed out, the House has passed a debt ceiling increase.
It's the Democrat Senate that hasn't passed one, and the president still has no plan.
So listen, he says that he wants to be president for four more years.
You know, it's frightening.
But this is a pretty basic part of his job.
So I hope that he'll be able to actually get a deal done here.
It's on him.
My bottom line is it is on Joe Biden to do it.
And let's see, so far, not much progress.
Yeah, was there anything else that you're tracking,
that we should be paying attention to that where you're fighting for Missouri for America?
I think that's good.
I think that covers it.
All right.
Thank you so much for joining me.
Senator Holly. Thanks for having me.
