Liberal celebrities are turning on Biden.
I'm Elizabeth Mitchell, and this is the Daily Signal Top News for Wednesday, July 10.
Before we get to today's headlines, I wanted to tell you all why I've changed my name from Elizabeth Troutman to Mitchell.
That is because I got married a few Sundays ago on June 30th, and I'm very excited to be back with the podcast today.
Now here are today's headlines.
Several prominent left-wing politicians and celebrities doubt President Joe Biden's ability to win his 2024 re-election campaign.
Actor George Clooney said Democrats are not going to win in November with this president.
Last month, Clooney hosted a fundraiser for President Joe Biden.
The actor wrote Wednesday in a New York Times opinion article that he noticed at the fundraiser that Biden is no longer who he was in 2010 or even 2020.
Clooney wrote,
I love Joe Biden as a senator,
as a vice president, and as a president.
I consider him a friend, and I believe in him.
Believe in his character, believe in his morals.
In the last four years, he's won many of the battles he's faced.
Clooney continued,
but the one battle he cannot win is the fight against time.
TMZ obtained footage of ABC news anchor George Stephanopoulos,
saying he does not think Biden can serve another term.
Stephanopoulos said this in response to a stranger's question on the streets of New York City.
The liberal anchor interviewed Biden a few days earlier on his show this week.
Stephanopolis later said that he shouldn't have made those comments.
ABC News said Stephanopoulos expressed his own point of view and not the position of ABC News.
Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi did not answer a question that she was asked on MSNBC's show, Morning Joe,
about if she supports Biden's re-election campaign.
She said the president is responsible for his decision to run.
Here's more from Nancy Pelosi on MSNBC.
It's up to the president to decide if he is going to run.
We're all encouraging him to make that decision because time is running short.
The former House Speaker also had this to say in the MSNBC interview.
He's beloved.
He is respected.
And people want him to make that decision.
He has seen.
The former speaker endorsed President Biden in 2020.
President Joe Biden said Ukraine has NATO's full collective support in remarks on the 75th anniversary of NATO on Tuesday evening.
Biden said at the 2024 NATO summit in Washington, D.C., that Russian President Vladimir Putin wants Ukraine's total subjugation.
Here's the president on CNN.
Ukraine can and will stop Putin.
especially with our full collective support.
The President also announced that NATO will send more aid to Ukraine.
Today, I'm announcing the historic donation of air defense equipment for Ukraine.
The United States, Germany, the Netherlands, Romania, and Italy will provide Ukraine with the equipment for five additional strategic air defense systems.
Ukraine is not currently a member of NATO.
Under Article 5 of NATO's founding treaty, any member of the alliance, including the U.S., must send troops to defend another NATO member that has been attacked.
If Ukraine joined NATO, the U.S. would have to join the country's war with Russia.
A report published Wednesday by the House Judiciary Committee shows that the Global Alliance for Responsible Media likely violated federal antitrust laws.
According to the report, Garm used its market.
power to keep advertising dollars away from certain conservative news platforms, including
Breitbart, Fox News, and The Daily Wire.
Emails show Garm's leadership strategized on how to use the coalition against news outlets
with views that differ from its own.
The report warns, for an organization reliant on speech and persuasion in advertising, Garm
appears to have anti-democratic views of fundamental American freedoms.
Garm is an initiative of the World Federation of Advertisers.
Actor Alec Baldwin's criminal trial is underway.
Prosecutors say Baldwin played make-believe with a real gun on the set of upcoming film Rust.
As a result, cinematographer Helena Hutchins was shot in killed, and Baldwin faces an involuntary manslaughter charge.
Baldwin's lawyer, Alex Spiro, said in opening statements that the shooting
was not foreseeable. Spiro told the jury that this was an unspeakable tragedy. He said,
Alec Baldwin committed no crime. He was an actor playing the role of Harlan Rust. An actor playing a
character can act in ways that are lethal, that just aren't lethal on a movie set. If convicted,
Baldwin would face up to 18 months in prison. Prosecutor, or Linda Ocampo, told jurors the evidence
will show that the actor violated the cardinal rules of firearm safety,
by firing the gun on set.
