Trump makes good on his promise to make DEI-D-I-E.
I'm Elizabeth Mitchell.
This is the Daily Signals Top News in 10 for Wednesday, January 22nd.
By Wednesday night, all diversity, equity, and inclusion personnel will lose their jobs.
All government DEI agencies are also shutting down.
This follows President Donald Trump's executive order issued on the day of his inauguration, ending wasteful DEI programs.
The Office of Personnel Management issued a Tuesday memo telling agency and department heads to place DEI staff on leave and to remove all websites and social media accounts related to DEI by 5 p.m. on Wednesday.
The memo promises adverse consequences for those who try to disguise DEI or who fail to report attempts to disguise DEI with coded language.
DEMD.I was one of Trump's most popular campaign promises.
Today, he also signed an executive order ending DEI-related discrimination in the federal workforce
and in federal contracting and spending.
The order requires the opposite of management and budget to streamline the federal contracting process
to enhance speed and efficiency, reduce costs, and require federal contractors and subcontractors
to comply with civil rights laws.
Trump signed another memorandum terminating a Biden administration, federal aviation,
administration hiring policy that Trump said prioritize DEI over safety.
The fact sheet says safety and competence should be the only job criteria for FAA employees,
yet the Biden administration violated the public trust, as well as the law, by prioritizing
illegal DEI hiring.
Trump's Department of Justice called federal prosecutors to investigate states or officials
to obstruct deportation orders.
In a memo obtained by Fox News, acting deputy.
Attorney General Emil Bove said the DOJ must eliminate three threats to the American people.
Those are cartels in transatlantic criminal organizations, crime by members of those organizations
and illegal immigrants, and the fentanyl and opioid epidemic. Boves said the Supremacy Clause of the
U.S. Constitution and other authorities require state and local actors to comply with the executive
branches immigration enforcement activities. According to the memo, federal law prohibits state and local
from resisting, obstructing, and otherwise failing to comply with lawful immigration-related
commands and requests, pursuant to, for example, the president's extensive article to authority
with respect to foreign affairs and national security, the Immigration and Nationality Act,
and the Alien Enemies Act.
Boe, who will serve as Attorney General until Trump nominee Pam Bondi is confirmed by the Senate,
directed U.S. attorney's offices to investigate incidents involving any such misconduct for potential
prosecution, including for obstructing federal functions in violation of federal statutes.
Virginia Allen joins us now to discuss. Thanks for coming, Virginia. It's great to be with you,
Elizabeth. Why do you think the Trump team needed to issue this memo? Well, in one word, California.
So you have in California, Governor Gavin Newsom and the very far left Democrat legislature there,
and they have actually put together a $25 million, essentially slush fund in order to provide
legal services to illegal aliens to try and avoid deportation. So really, this is not only trying
to sure up the, really the legal protections for the Trump administration to say, hey, we're going to do
what we said we're going to do. We're going to be able to carry out what we put forth in this
executive actions, but it also is in some ways really a warning shot to those in California
who would try and seek to oppose, have been very open about the fact that they are going to
actively oppose what Trump is trying to do around deporting illegal aliens. So this is teeing up,
I think, a pretty big fight in the courts. Wow, that sounds like a big fight. Now, what is Trump's
goal in regards to all of the illegal immigrants who have crossed the border during the Biden-Harris
administration? So a couple things there. Number one, we know deportations are starting. They're
going to start rapidly under the Trump administration, especially with Tom Homan, as the borders are.
But both Tom Homan and Trump have been very clear that they are going to prioritize the deportation of criminal illegal aliens first.
And that is going to be a process that's carried out, I think, rapidly in many cases.
And then they're going to move to other groups of illegal aliens.
Tom Homan has said, you know, if you're in the country illegally, no one's off the table from being deported.
And we know that deporting 10 million people is going to take a long time, is going to be a large problem.
process. So it's hard to say for sure within the next four years is every single individual
who's in the country illegally going to be deported? Probably not. Are a lot of individuals,
whether they're criminal or not going to be deported? Absolutely. Wow. Well, thank you, Virginia.
Thank you, Elizabeth.
Representative Chip Roy of Texas issued a diagnosis for America's broken health care system.
And he says the problem isn't what people would expect. Roy says,
America's health crisis doesn't come from health insurance, big pharma, or even food additives.
Roy told the Daily Signal, it's the fact that politicians, bureaucrats, and corporations are
all benefiting from a broken cronyistic system that lets them put profits over patients with impunity.
In Roy's new report titled The Case for Healthcare Freedom, the House Freedom Caucus member
says Congress has the opportunity to make America healthy again by promoting expansive health
savings accounts in the upcoming budget reconciliation process.
Health savings accounts allow individuals and families to save money and spend it tax-free on
health care expenses.
Giving the same actors more power and money won't work.
If we want to make America healthy again, the answer is health care freedom, according to
Roy, who said, if we want to control our budgets and health care spending, the answer is
health care freedom.
The report, first shared with the Daily Signal, says our current health care system is
neither free nor competitive. The report says, as a share of the nation's gross domestic product,
health spending accounted for 17.6 percent, and costs are growing around 1 percent faster than the
annual GDP. If conservatives care about a strong national defense and low taxes, these trends
have to be reversed. Those were our headlines. We'll get to our news flashes right after this.
Four years of constant crisis. Wide open borders, deadly sentinel.
violent crime, crippling inflation, war in Israel, war in Ukraine, China rising.
There's no time to waste on Washington games. We must fight.
Americans elected President Donald J. Trump to stand in the breach. He's already hard at work.
If we're going to fight and win, we've got work to do. Confirm Trump's cabinet now.
Senator Joni Ernst introduced a bill on Wednesday to require states to accurately
report abortion data to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. States are currently
asked but not required to provide this information to the CDC. If passed and signed into law,
the bill entitled the Ensuring Accurate and Complete Abortion Data Reporting Act of 2025 will require
states to report the number of abortions performed each year. States that fail to provide the CDC
with the requested abortion data will risk losing Medicaid payments for certain family planning
services and supplies.
Though former President Joe Biden called Donald Trump a fascist and a threat to democracy,
his parting letter to the now president bestows upon him God's blessing and guidance.
The letter says, I wish you and your family all the best in the next four years.
The American people and people all over the world looked at his house for steadiness in the inevitable
storms of history.
And my prayer is that the coming years will be a time of prosperity, peace, and grace for our nation.
Trump found the letter in the desk of the Oval Office.
On Wednesday, President Donald Trump threatened taxes tariffs and sanctions on Russia and its allies
unless the country strikes a deal to end its war with Ukraine.
Trump called for an end to the quote-unquote ridiculous war on truth social.
He also threatened to impose a 10% tariff on Chinese-made goods arriving in the U.S.
starting as soon as February 1st.
