Starting point is 00:00:25 We'd love to talk. Business. Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker warns that immigration customs enforcement is the most dangerous threat to children on the streets of Chicago this Halloween. Republican officials call for the impeachment of D.C. District Court Judge James Boasberg. And President Trump finishes negotiations with China's Xi. Virginia Allen, our senior news producer, joins us for details. I'm Tony Kennett, host of the Daily Signals Tony Kenned cast, syndicated nationally at 7 p.m. Eastern. It is Friday, October 31st, 2025.
Starting point is 00:01:02 This is the Daily Signals, Top News in 10. We begin this Halloween with a warning, a concern from Illinois Governor and Democrat J.B. Pritzker, suggesting that immigration customs enforcement or ICE is the biggest threat to black and brown children on the night of Halloween. There you go. Black and brown people, U.S. citizens, hardworking parents.
Starting point is 00:01:30 In essence, you are turn. targeting all of us. It's un-American, and we cannot stand for this. I will not stand for this. I want to now speak directly to Greg Bovino. Mr. Bovino, your operation has sown fear and division and chaos among law-abiding residents in our communities. If you are unwilling to cease operations and leave our city, can we at least agree that our children should not be victims, especially on Halloween. Can we agree that there is no imminent threat that should disrupt their holiday? As of yet, there have been no confirmed reports of immigration customs enforcement seeking out children for arrest or detainment.
Starting point is 00:02:20 The only detainings of children so far appear to be those who are accompanying parents who are illegally here in the United States. and then are prioritized to be kept with their parents, unlike prior administrations. As to the safety of the city streets of Chicago, in October of 2024, there were 52 homicides and 201 reported shooting incidents on those very safe streets of Chicago. And after additional revelations from Senator Chuck Grassley's office on the extent of Operation Arctic Frost by former President Joe Biden's FBI, in which many members of Congress were directly targeted by the investigatory agency. Their phones tapped, their locations tracked, their communications perused.
Starting point is 00:03:11 Additional information about the head judge in the D.C. District Federal Court, James Boasburg. Boasburg was appointed by President Barack Obama in 2010 and was confirmed by the Senate in 2011. Has emerged showing a gag order from the judge on telecommunications company AT&T, so that they would be unable to inform U.S. senators that their phones were being illegally tapped, which is a violation of two U.S. Code itself. Here's Senator Ted Cruz, one of those whose phones was tapped calling for the judge's impeachment. I am right now calling on the House of Representatives to impeach Judge Boasberg.
Starting point is 00:03:52 Judge Bozberg put his robe down, stood up and said, sign me up to be part of the partisan vendetta. against 20% of the Republicans in the Senate. Two important things here regarding to U.S. Code, requiring the Senate to be given notice of collection of its data or communication. This particular law makes sure that the Senate is aware of any data collection or phone tapping in the case that the senator is disclosing classified information regarding perhaps national security concerns. If the Senate office knows they're being tapped, perhaps there are certain communications
Starting point is 00:04:32 that the senator might not then put out on those particular phone lines. That law also makes it clear that the Senate has to be alerted if information from their offices is being collected in an investigation so that the Senate can then choose whether or not to rule on certain measures in the investigation if the Senate wishes to keep certain information from disclosure. In other words, this law requires courts to quash any subpoenas that demand the collection of Senate data upon a motion by the Senate, which means that Judge James Boasberg, which has been a thorn in the Trump administration's side throwing out injunctions as quickly as possible, most of which have been stricken down in this administration. The U.S. Code suggests that James Boasberg's gag order on AT&T would be illegal because it would require the U.S. Senate to approve it before the gag order would have gone into place. Now Republican Representative Brandon Gill of Texas is reportedly drafting articles of impeachment against James Boasberg. The measure has the support of Representative Chip Roy.
Starting point is 00:05:40 Here's Congressman Byron Donalds of Florida echoing his support. We should know. Number one, I think it was Judge Bowesberg was the judge. you sign off and all this stuff, he needs to lose his seat as a judge. That needs to go. Number two, they need to be called into Congress. But the third part is, because Congress will happen, we'll do that stuff. The Department of Justice is really going to have to go through this. And if there were criminal violations, they have to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. This is worse than Watergate. As much as everybody wants to talk about Watergate and everything around Richard Nixon, this is significantly worse. Because while they were using the judicial system
Starting point is 00:06:15 to go after their political rival, they were also in the background protecting Joe Biden from the American people with the auto pen investigation and then silencing the American people through social media, strong-arming media companies to silence the voices of Americans. This is the most corrupt presidential administration, the Biden administration in the history of our country. Heads need to roll. As a quick history, the last time that a federal judge was impeached in the United States was G. Thomas Porteous Jr. of the Eastern District of Louisiana in March of 2010. He was then convicted by the U.S. Senate and removed from office on December 8th of that same year. If James Boasberg was to be impeached by the House, he would then face trial and then a conviction vote in the Senate.
Starting point is 00:07:03 As of this date, no federal judge in the district court in Washington, D.C., has been impeached and or convicted. there was a Supreme Court Justice of the United States, Samuel Chase, who was impeached, but then acquitted by the U.S. Senate in 1805. So it's been a while. And lastly, the president of the United States has concluded a major trip to Southeast Asian nations, including deals with Malaysia, Cambodia, Thailand, Japan, South Korea, and China. We sat down with our senior news producer Virginia Allen to get the scoop on a major series of deals with these countries. Over to Virginia Allen, our senior news producer who's been following a lot of Trump's Asian adventures. Are you dead tired? You know, I feel like the president should be more
Starting point is 00:07:53 tired than I am, but I don't think he is. I think reporters are way more exhausted than Trump is. And I don't know if the man slept at all, because last night it was like 10 o'clock at night, our time. And like the president has just continued tweeting through the night in Asia time, or not tweeting, but truthing. Like, I have no idea if he slept at all this week, maybe an hour. Well, while he's, of course, been powering through a large Asia, trip, several legs on it. A lot of news that's, believe it or not, desperately crucial for our audience live right now. This is one of the things I want to have your expertise on because we're over here yelling
Starting point is 00:08:30 about SNAP benefits and Schumer throwing a fit in front of the press and Hakeem Jeffries also throwing a fit in front of the press. but there are some really major implications of Trump and the meeting with Xi that a lot of people don't seem to know what to make of this. Give us a breakdown of kind of what was heading into this meeting and then the meeting itself. Right. Yeah. So the number one agenda item was that of trade and specifically focused on the tariffs. So the big news takeaway there is coming out of this meeting with Xi, Trump says, that tariffs on imports into the U.S. from China, they're dropping by 10 going from about 57% down to 47%.
Starting point is 00:09:13 That's, of course, a large sum still, though, 47% is pretty high and I think represents the fact that China is not the US's best friend per se. So there's still that trade tension there to an extent. But some of the big takeaways from this meeting, the things that Trump was very clear, he put out a true social post shortly after this meeting, one of the big issues was soybeans. China has been a major purchaser of soybeans from U.S. farmers.
Starting point is 00:09:45 And so far this year, only in the past recent days, China made one big soybean purchase from the U.S. Until then, there really was nothing. So according to President Trump, she says that China will again start buying soybeans from the United States. Also on rare earth minerals. Yep, you know where I'm going. You know, yep, I'm getting, I'm maybe getting ahead of you, but let me just run through this real fast. I think it's helpful to hit kind of these big, big issue items. Rare earth minerals, lots of tension there. China, about 70% of the world's rare earth minerals come out of China. This is a big deal.
Starting point is 00:10:22 These things go on smartphones, in your smart TVs, like all the stuff that we rely on, we need these rare earth minerals. So China said, okay, don't worry, we're going to keep giving you those. Fetnal. This is a big, big, big issue. I spoke with China expert Gordon Chang before Trump's meeting with Xi. He said fentanyl was the number one issue he's going to be watching because the precursor chemicals that the cartels use to make fentanyl, those flow out of China to South and Central America. She said, hey, we're going to continue to work on cracking down. Now Gordon Chang told me China said that before. So he doesn't have a ton of confidence that anything is necessarily going to change. And I think that's one of the big takeaways from this meeting. Trump is celebrating this.
Starting point is 00:11:07 He says in his words, on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the highest, this meeting was at 12. The president is obviously very optimistic about what came from this meeting. And nothing is in writing. These are verbal agreements. And China, as the president knows, cannot be trusted. And so time will tell in the coming days, weeks, months, if China actually makes good on these promises. Before you go, head down to the description. and make sure you're subscribed to the Tony Kinnett cast and join us tonight at 7 p.m.
Starting point is 00:11:37 Eastern for a roundup of the day and weeks news and nonsense. I'm Tony Kinnett and this has been the Daily Signals, top news in 10. Take care.
