Lawmakers reacted to President Donald Trump's remarks over Gaza last night.
I'm Elizabeth Mitchell.
This is the Daily Signals Top News in 10 for Wednesday, February 5th.
Members of Congress have had some strong words about President Donald Trump's interest in taking over Gaza.
Senator Rand Paul, a Kentucky Republican, posted on X,
The pursuit for peace should be that of the Israelis and the Palestinians.
I thought we voted for America first.
We have no business contemplated.
yet another occupation to doom our treasure and spill our soldiers' blood.
However, Speaker Mike Johnson praised the idea calling it a bold, decisive move that could stave off
the risk of another October 7, calling it a matter of common sense.
Johnson said, there's a lot to discuss. I've been a very close ally of Netanyahu, and to be
frank, for the last four years, I think I was probably the highest ranked member of the federal
government who was unequivocally supporting Israel and the prime minister.
President Trump said Tuesday night while speaking alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House that the U.S. will take over the Gaza Strip.
It is very well.
They're wonderful people and they want peace in the Middle East.
As far as Gaza is concerned, we'll do what is necessary.
If it's necessary, we'll do that.
We're going to take over that piece.
We're going to develop it, create thousands and thousands of jobs.
And it'll be something that the entire Middle East can be very proud of.
But everybody feels that continuing the same process that's gone forever over and over again,
and then it starts, and then the killing starts, and all of the other problems start,
and you end up in the same place, and we don't want to see that happen.
So by the United States, with its stability and strength, owning it,
especially the strength that we're developing and developed over the last fairly short period of time,
I would say really since the election,
I think we'll be a great keeper of something that is very, very strong, very powerful, and very,
good for the area, not just for Israel for the entire Middle East.
The president said his aim is to prevent Gaza from ending up being the same place as it has been,
presumably referring to Hamas and other terrorists controlling the region.
Netanyahu kept a supportive tone as he stood beside Trump, telling reporters that Trump sees a
different future for that piece of land that has been the focus of so much terrorism, referring to the
I mentioned again tonight our three goals. And the third goal is to make sure that Gaza never poses
a threat to Israel again. President Trump is taking it to a much higher level. He sees a different,
he sees a different future for that piece of land that has been the focus of so much
terrorism, so much, so many attacks against us, so many, so many trials and so many trials and
so many tribulations. He has a different idea. And I think it's worth paying attention to this.
We're talking about it. He's exploring it with his people, with his staff. I think it's something
that could change history. And it's worthwhile really pursuing this avenue.
Trump made the comments on Gaza after meeting with Netanyahu in what was Trump's first meeting
with a foreign leader since being sworn into office as the 47th president.
President Trump signs an executive order banning males from women and girls' sports.
The president will be signing an executive order keeping men out of women's sports to defend the safety of athletes, protect competitive integrity, and uphold the promise of Title IX.
This common-sense action from President Trump ends the disgusting betrayal of women and girls by the previous administration, who for years catered to radical activists who want to.
biological males to be treated as women and workplace showers, competitive sports, prisons,
and even rape shelters. Gender, ideology, insanity is over. Guest at the White House signing included
NCAA Division I swimmer Riley Gaines, Heritage Foundation President Kevin Roberts, and American
Principles Project President Terry Schilling. Former Alabama football coach and Senator Tommy Tuberville
spoke on the Senate floor Wednesday afternoon praising the executive order, but
but saying Congress needs to pass the bill because orders can be overturned by the next left-wing
administration.
The Alabama Republican delivered his speech on behalf of his protection of women and girls
and sports act while standing in front of a poster with a pregnant man emoji.
For the past four years, the Biden administration weighs an all-out assault on gender.
Since the beginning of time, people have agreed that sex is assigned at birth and determined
by God.
But under the Biden administration, you had people claiming that men can get pregnant
here on this floor.
I heard that.
Pure insanity.
But it didn't stop there.
They weren't content to just erase gender norms that have been accepted for thousands
and thousands of years.
No, they wanted to allow transgender men to participate against women and girls
in sports.
This has been happening in schools
all across the country.
Young women have been forced to compete
against men and even
share locker rooms and showers.
And on top of that,
your taxpayer dollars are paying for this nonsense.
Over the past several years
under the Joe Biden administration,
900 women's medals
have gone to men.
900. That is
absolutely wrong. The Senate confirmed Trump's nominees for Attorney General and Housing and Urban Development
Secretary. The Senate voted to confirm Scott Turner as HUD Secretary 55 to 44 on Wednesday. Two Democrats,
Senator John Fetterman of Pennsylvania and Peter Welch of Vermont, joined Republicans in support of
Turner. Turner is a former NFL football player and Texas state lawmaker. The Senate also voted 54 to 46 late
Tuesday to confirm Pam Bondi as Attorney General. Senator John Federman was the only Democrat to vote for
Bondi. Bondi served as the chair of the Center for Litigation and co-chair of the Center for Law and
Justice at America First Policy Institute. She served as Florida's 37th Attorney General. She also was on
President Donald Trump's opioid and drug abuse commission during his first term. Bondi thanked
Trump for the nomination. Thank you, President Trump. I've known you for many, many
years and I will not let you down. I am truly honored, honored that you have asked me to take
on this role and I will make you proud and I will make this country proud. Those were our headlines.

is offering buyouts to all employees if they are unwilling to return to fully in-person work.
Fox News Digital reported that the White House anticipates a spike.
in federal resignations ahead of Thursday's deadline for a buyout offer.
Senator Ted Cruz, a Republican from Texas, slammed the U.S. agency for international development
after the Daily Signal highlighted its longstanding partnership with the Leftist Funding Network
established by Hungarian-American billionaire George Soros.
Cruz told the Daily Signal in an exclusive statement Tuesday,
it is no surprise that the woke leftist running USAID had the same priorities as George Soros
in his global NGO network.
NBC reported that the NFL will remove the words and racism from the end zones at Caesar's Superdome in New Orleans ahead of the Super Bowl.
The words, choose love, will serve as the replacement.
