Starting point is 00:00:00 President Trump announces a major trade deal with the European Union from Scotland. A man who stabbed 11 in Michigan is held at gunpoint until police arrive. And Democrats show bold leadership this weekend by mourning a lack of leadership. I'm Tony Kennett, host of the Daily Signals Tony Kennett cast, syndicated nationally at 7 p.m. Eastern. It is Monday, July 28, 2025. This is the Daily Signals, top news in 10. Yesterday afternoon, President Trump announced a major European Union trade deal while in Scotland. The European Union has agreed to purchase $750 billion worth of energy from the United States
Starting point is 00:00:43 and has also agreed to invest over $600 billion. Here's the president from Scotland. So we're going to do the following. The European Union is going to agree to purchase. from the United States, $750 billion worth of energy, $750 billion worth of energy. They are going to agree to invest into the United States, $600 billion more than they're investing already. So they're investing a large amount of money.
Starting point is 00:01:27 You know what that amount of money is. very substantial, but they're going to invest an additional $600 billion. They're agreeing to open up their countries to trade at zero tariff. So that's a very big factor. Opening up their countries, all of the countries will be opened up to trade with the United States at zero tariff. And they're agreeing to purchase a vast amount of military equipment. We don't know what that number is, but it's, it's, the good news is we make the best military equipment in the world,
Starting point is 00:02:04 so sort of you have to do that, I mean, until somebody tops us, which is not going to happen. We're way ahead of every other country in terms of the quality of the military equipment. You saw that recently in Iran, and you see that, unfortunately, you see that often for all the wrong reasons, right? So those things are 750 billion, 600 billion. opening up the country, we are agreeing that the tariff straight across for automobiles and everything else will be a straight across tariff of 15%. So we have a tariff of 15%. We have the opening up of all of the European countries, which I think I could say were essentially
Starting point is 00:02:56 closed. I mean, you weren't exactly taking our orders. You weren't exactly taking our agriculture. And then you would have smaller things, but for the most part, it was closed. And now it's open. It's open for our companies to go in and do a good job with it. I think you'll like them. I think you'll like it. And we will,
Starting point is 00:03:17 very importantly, they'll be investing a lot of money, but the military is a big number, but that's one number we're not determining. It's going to be whatever it is. But they're going to be purchasing hundreds of billions of dollars worth of military equipment. They're very important, they're going to purchase $750 billion worth of energy. So that's going to be great. And $600 billion worth of investments into the United States over and above what they have.
Starting point is 00:03:49 And I think that basically concludes the deal. I mean, those are the main factors. I don't think there are too many other factors. factors. Other than we're going to get along great. And we have a great relationship now with NATO, which is largely the same. I mean, not exactly, but pretty close, right? Largely. And with NATO, as you know, they're going up to 5% from 2%, and the relationship is very strong with NATO. So I just want to congratulate you. I think it's, I think it's great that we made a deal today instead of playing games and maybe not making a deal at all. I think it's, I'm going to let
Starting point is 00:04:29 you say, but I think it's the biggest deal ever made. Thank you very much. Congratulations. This follows after a major trade deal with Indonesia on the 22nd, the Philippines on the 22nd, and Japan on the 23rd. These are before the August 1st tariff deadline, which Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnik has stated will not be pushed back any further except for a temporary pause extended into a 90-day window with China. According to the Daily Signals, Olivia Perro, none of the 11 victims in the stabbing
Starting point is 00:05:01 at the Traverse City, Michigan, Walmart Saturday afternoon are in critical condition anymore, according to local hospital treating the victims. Just before 5 p.m. on Saturday, 42-year-old Bradford James Gile used a folding knife to, quote, randomly stab Walmart customers, end quote. The stabber was unable to flee from the scene
Starting point is 00:05:21 because of individuals like, Derek Perry, who surrounded the stabber and held him at gunpoint until police arrived and were able to arrest the suspect. Deputy Director of the FBI, Dan Bongino, said on Saturday evening that FBI personnel are responding to provide any necessary support to the Grand Traverse County Sheriff's Office in their investigation. And lastly, Democrats on the Hill this weekend showed a strong amount of leadership talking about the trials the Democrat Party is currently going through because of a lack of leadership. We're not kidding here. A Wall Street Journal poll shows that though some of President Trump's methods and policies are a little bit underwater on the approval ratings, the Democrat Party's policy proposals and general tenor with the American people is far worse. Political pundit and host Stephen A. Smith made this particular case on ABCs this week. Okay, so let me move forward on the Democrats.
Starting point is 00:07:17 We were just talking on the roundtable about this new Wall Street Journal poll that shows even on issues where the public does not approve of the president or of Republican they actually have a lower approval rating of the Democrats. Yeah. Oh, that's easy to understand. One party has a leader in Donald Trump. You can refute, nobody can refute that. He is the leader of the GOP and the Republican Party.
Starting point is 00:07:41 Make no mistake about it. The Democrats don't have a leader. You know, I see, who's your leader? Who is it? Is it AOC? Is it Bernie Sanders? Is it Jasmine Crockett? Who is it?
Starting point is 00:07:50 You know, we respect so many people on Capitol Hill. I'm certainly not here to cast aspersions upon individuals, but as a body, the Democratic Party just looks very, very bad right now because they look leaderless. They don't have a definitive voice that anybody can depend on. When we look towards 2028, for example, we see a guy like Governor Westmore, who I like a lot, and I think is very capable, a Josh Shapiro, the governor of Pennsylvania, who I like and I think is very, very capable. But when you talk about a national voice for the Democratic Party, it is literally non-existent. You have no one right now.
Starting point is 00:08:22 I'm in New York City. you've got this guy's around Mondani that won the Democratic nominee over former government, over former governor, Andrew Cuomo, Andrew Cuomo and Mayor Eric Adams are going against one another as an independent and this fear about them canceling one another
Starting point is 00:08:38 out and said and paving away for Mamdani, who's a renowned socialist. That's not what America really, really is about. Nevertheless, he could end up being the mayor of New York City. Why? Because when you don't have any kind of leader whatsoever,
Starting point is 00:08:53 You're going to look to grab one anywhere you can, any chance you get. That's what the situation is with the Democratic Party. They do not have a leader. Senator Mark Kelly of Arizona appeared on CNN's State of the Union with Jake Tapper and tried to explain the way around the 19% approval rating that Democrats are currently facing. You, Senator, are out holding towns with voter, town halls with voters. Not only in Arizona, interestingly, you held one in Warren, Michigan Friday night. A new poll from the Wall Street Journal shows that your president.
Starting point is 00:09:23 party, the Democrats, are at your lowest approval rating in 35 years. 63% of those polls, voters, say they held an unfavorable view of the Democratic Party. So what are you hearing from voters and why do you think your party is struggling so much? Well, first of all, Jake, thank you for having me on and we have to fix this. I don't put a ton of stock into polls, especially this far away from an election, but we certainly do have a problem and it's a messaging problem. And it's important to get out there and talk to people about the issues that they care about. So I was outside of Detroit there in Warren talking to folks who don't get to hear from their member of Congress.
Starting point is 00:10:06 A guy named John James, he doesn't explain to them what happened in this big bill that the president and House and Senate Republicans passed. And it's really a bad deal for the American people. So myself and my wife Gabby, you know, sat there in front of a large group and took some of the president. questions from them and tried to explain to them, you know, what's going to happen to Medicaid, what's going to happen to food assistance through SNAP. And there were folks here that I got the sense that these programs directly are going to affect them and their family members. And they do deserve an explanation from somebody in the United States Congress. And if their representative isn't going to do it, I'm going to go there. And hopefully in time, you know, the American people
Starting point is 00:10:53 will understand that we are out there fighting for them. Before you go, head down to the description and make sure you're subscribed to the Tony Kinnett cast and join us this evening at 7 p.m. Eastern where we're in studio with the one and only Rob Carson over from Newsmax to talk a little bit about the day's news and nonsense.
