Starting point is 00:00:00 Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke to Congress today while outside pro-Palestine protesters swarm Capitol Hill. I'm Virginia Allen, and this is the Daily Signal Top News for Wednesday, July 24th. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu delivered an address to a joint session of Congress today, and he stressed the need for the U.S. and Israel to stand united together. Netanyahu recounted the events of October 7th, and he thanked Biden for his support of Israel. I thank President Biden for his heartfelt support for Israel. After the savage attack on October 7th, he rightly called Hamas sheer evil. He dispatched two aircraft carriers to the Middle East to deter a wider war.
Starting point is 00:00:56 And he came to Israel to stand with us during our darkest hour, a visit that will never be forgotten. Multiple Israel Defense Forces soldiers were in the audience while Netanyahu spoke to Congress. and some hostage survivors as well, including Noah Agamani. She was rescued by the IDF on June 9th from a home in Gaza. At multiple points, the lawmakers in the chamber stood to applaud those IDF soldiers. Netanyahu addressed the pro-Palestine protests as well that were taking place literally while he was speaking to Congress, and he said that those protesters should be ashamed of themselves.
Starting point is 00:01:37 My friends, defeating our brutal enemies requires both courage and clarity. Clarity begins by knowing the difference between good and evil. Yet incredibly, many anti-Israel protesters, many choose to stand with evil. They stand with Hamas. They stand with rapists and murders. They stand with people who came into the Kibbutzim. into a home. The parents hid the children, the two babies in the attic, in a secret attic.
Starting point is 00:02:15 They murder the families, the parents. They find the secret latch to the hidden attic. And then they murder the babies. These protesters stand with them. They should be ashamed of themselves. Multiple Democrat lawmakers, including House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, noticeably remained seated and did not clap when Netanyahu made those remarks regarding the protests. The speech on Wednesday, this was Netanyahu's fourth time
Starting point is 00:02:48 addressing Congress. The vice president does usually preside over such joint sessions, but Kamala Harris was noticeably absent today. Instead, she was at a bi-annual Zetafi Beta Sorority National Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana. Her office said that that speech was scheduled before Netanyahu's address to Congress was on the calendar. But Harris was not the only. only one absent dozens of Democrat lawmakers boycott of the speech, including Representative Ilhan Omar. Well, Democrat lawmakers were not the only ones who acted in opposition to Netanyahu's visit to Washington, D.C. There were large groups of pro-Palestinian protesters protesting on the streets of Washington, D.C., literally while Benjamin Netanyahu was delivering that address before Congress and in the hours leading up to the speech. at the Daily Signal offices, pretty close to the capital in D.C.
Starting point is 00:03:47 Repeatedly outside my window, I heard the chance free Palestine. Also, chance like from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free. Let's take a listen to what some of those chance sounded like. The Daily Signal's intern, Hudson Crisier, was on the ground covering the protest. Hudson, thanks for being here and for being willing to share what you saw. Describe the scene, if you would. A lot going on. that's how I would summarize it. I've been hearing reports of something like thousands of protesters,
Starting point is 00:04:35 but just endless a flood of signs and chants and multiple law enforcement agencies forming a gigantic barricade around Capitol Hill. In fact, me and our reporters Tim and Elise, we never even got to the end of that barricade. It just stretches and stretches. And I saw at least Montgomery County Police, D.C. Metro Police, NYPD, and USCP, possibly others. So there was a lot of preparation for this. And, yeah, the crowd is showing about the level of energy that we were expecting. Okay. Did you speak with any of the protesters while you were out there? I didn't speak to them personally. That was more Tim and Elise.
Starting point is 00:05:13 But I was, I had my camera and I was just photographing different signs and kind of the details. What were some of those signs that you saw? Lots of praise for different terrorist groups in the Middle East. One young man had a sign that said, resistance is justified when people are occupied. with a thing underneath that said, hashtag Al-Axa flood. Al-Axaflod was the nickname for the October 7th massacre by Hamas. The official name was Operation Al-A-Fluad. So that's what he's praising there.
Starting point is 00:05:43 And on that, also on the sign that he was holding, there's a picture of a bunch of men on a vehicle holding up weapons, which looked a lot like some of the pictures that came out of October 7th. And then other things, like there was a big black, kind of the generic jihad flag with all of the Arabic characters on it and a couple of, oh, oh, and a Palestine flag with a picture of a Hamas leader on it with the green headband and those, the red and black scarf on his head and other pictures of just extremist rhetoric at this protest that we've all documented in our, in our threads on X. Yeah. Hudson, I know that you've seen other protests in
Starting point is 00:06:26 Washington, D.C. in your time that you've been here, how was this one different, do you think? It was covering more ground, definitely. That was the idea. The last one was just at the White House, and they were protesting Joe Biden specifically, but this, they are quite literally circling the whole town. Other than that, a lot of things are the same. In fact, it's some of the same groups involved, groups like the Answer Coalition and shut it down for Palestine and other groups that actually Heritage talked about recently in its recent policy paper. It's a lot of the same groups around the country organizing these protests. A couple of those groups who were behind the White House protests have already taken credit for this one as well, either on social media or from
Starting point is 00:07:15 some of the signs that have been plastered all over the town. Well, Hudson, we certainly appreciate your reporting on it. You're being willing to be out there on the street. actually photographing what is happening and do encourage all of our listeners to check out DailySignal.com and make sure you're following the daily signal across social media to catch the highlights of our coverage from the protest. Hudson, thank you. Thank you very much. Harris will meet with Netanyahu on Thursday, according to her office, and President Biden will also meet with Netanyahu for a separate meeting on Thursday. But today, Biden will
Starting point is 00:07:46 address the nation at 8 p.m. from the Oval Office. We can expect two things tonight. First, we can expect more information about why Biden chose to step out of the presidential race. We can also expect the president to lay out the work that he still plans to carry forward or complete before he leaves office in January. You can watch that speech tonight on C-SPAN, and the Daily Signals Fred Lucas is going to be covering it so you can catch the highlights at dailysignal.com. Back on the campaign trail, the Trump campaign is seeking to prevent the Harris campaign from accessing Biden's campaign funds.
Starting point is 00:08:23 The Daily Caller reports that the Trump campaign filed a federal election commission complaint on Tuesday after the Biden campaign transferred $91.5 million to the Harris campaign. The Trump campaign argues that this is a violation of campaign finance laws. The Trump campaign's general counsel, David Warrington, said in the complaint that Kamala Harris is seeking to perpetuate a $91.5 million heist of Joe Biden's leftover campaign cash. But as the New York Times points out, not all legal experts agree that Harris can't receive Biden's funds.
Starting point is 00:09:01 Since Biden and Harris were running on the same ticket, it's unclear what the Federal Election Commission will decide. Stay tuned. Millions of people were affected by a tech glitch last Friday that led to canceled and delayed flights, disruptive business, and disruption to Microsoft Windows computers. The company, responsible for that tech glitch, is a cybersecurity technology company called CrowdStrike. CrowdStrike blamed a bug in an update that allowed its cybersecurity system to push bad data to millions of its customers' computers. Now, there's a conservative public interest law firm called America First Legal that has filed a civil rights complaint against CrowdStrike. That's according to reporting from the Daily Signals, Elizabeth Troutman.
Starting point is 00:09:48 So why exactly is America First Legal filing a complaint against CrowdStrike? Well, they argue that the tech company discriminated against white men by segregating them, forcing them to complete training, and limiting their promotions for the sake of diversity, equity, and inclusion, also known as DEI. America First Legal argues that CrowdStrike is failing in its duty to create shareholder value and, comply with applicable, and comply with applicable laws by prioritizing DEI. CrowdStrike has a number of employee resource groups for various identity groups, including women, LGBTQ plus people, black employees, and Hispanics. But as America First legal notes, white men do not fit in any of these groups.
Starting point is 00:10:37 In a statement, CrowdStrike's chief human resources officer, J.C. Herrera, said a diverse and equitable organization is key to the country. company's success. So stay tuned to see where this goes, and hopefully if you were stranded because of canceled flights on Friday, you've made it home by now. With that, that's going to do it for today's episode.
