President Trump and Federal Reserve Chairman Powell chat at the new Fed building site.
Democrats try to dunk on grocery prices and it goes poorly.
And the Trump DOJ replaces U.S. Attorney Alina Haba with Alina Haba.
I'm Tony Kennett, host of the Daily Signals Tony Kenned cast,
syndicated nationally at 7 p.m. Eastern.
Thank God it is Friday, July 25th, 2025.
This is the Daily Signals top news in 10.
Amid more than a bit of tension between President Trump and
Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell, after Powell has refused to ask the board to lower
interest rates in the United States, though a lot of President Trump's economic policies have
made things a lot better than they were under the Biden administration, though Powell did
lower interest rates right before the election in 24, or at least asked the board to do so,
and then a lot of bickering and squabbling and threats to fire and threats to do this, that,
and the other. President Trump toured a new building site.
that is also the center of a growing controversy
with Chairman Powell earlier yesterday.
The dispute surrounds how much the building is costing the federal government
and whether or not these figures were represented appropriately and correctly
before the American people because the taxpayer is, in fact,
footing the bill of the project.
Now, the blueprints for this project included rather strange things
like federal building rooftop beehives amid a couple of other amenities
that perhaps one might.
not find essential for the Federal Reserve. But alas, here is Senator Tim Scott, President Trump,
and Chairman Jerome Powell touring the facility when a little bit of tension arises.
The reason why we wanted to see it was the overruns of the expenses, wanted to figure out why.
So we're taking a look, and it looks like it's about $3.1 billion, one up a little bit, or a lot.
So the 2.7 is now 3.1.
I'm not aware of that.
Yeah, it just came out.
Yeah, I haven't heard that from anybody for the Fed.
Yeah, it just came out.
I noticed that at about 3.1 as well.
3.1, 3.2.
This came from us?
Yes.
I don't know who does that.
You're including the Martin renovation.
You just added it in a third building is what that is.
That's a third building.
It's a building that's being built.
No, it was built five years ago.
We finished Martin five years ago.
It's part of the overall work.
So we're going to take a look.
We're going to see what's happening.
And it's got a long way.
Do you expect any more additional cost of runs?
Don't expect them.
We're ready for them.
But we have a little bit of a reserve that we may use.
But no, we don't.
Expect to be finished in 2007.
We're well along, as you can see.
Nice to take these off every once in a while when we're not under too much danger.
So any questions?
President Trump then summed up at the end of the visit.
Well, we had a little talk about it, and I thought it was a very productive talk.
He'll be able to tell you at his next meeting, but I will say that he did say the country's
doing really well.
In the middle of a rather rough communication cycle for the DNC and officials on the
Democrat side of the aisle in Congress, the Democrats' attempt to
tempted to post a kind of graph dunking on the Trump administration for the rise in grocery
prices, at least according to this graph, showing cheese, alcohol, grocery prices in general,
dairy, produce, and meat climbing in average cost over a period of six years.
And they posted this with the caption, Trump's America, saying prices are higher today than they
were on July 2024 in all major categories listed.
below. There are a few problems with this, mainly that the graph shows that during the Biden administration
from 2021 through 2024, prices climbed not just steadily, drastically. And then at the beginning of the
Trump administration, a lot of those prices started to either taper off, go through the classic
ebb and flow, the raise and lowering, and then some prices went down since the beginning of
2025. After a lot of dunking and humiliation from many in the pundit class, the media class,
and yes, yours truly, the Democrats did delete the tweet, deciding to advertise that the federal
minimum wage has not changed since 2009, sitting at $7.25. A couple of problems with this too,
of course, given that Democrats held power from 2009 through 2016, and then again,
from 2021 through 2024 when the federal minimum wage did not change at all.
Additionally, they drew a bit of scorn over illegal immigrants working in the country that are not
paid a minimum wage, who many of the Democrat members have suggested from the congressional
and the gubernatorial and the city government side, for example, like Los Angeles Mayor Karen
Bass or Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, that illegal immigrants are necessary as part of the labor
forced to participate in agricultural and service industry jobs that pay a lot less than federal
minimum wage. And lastly, because of the holdup in the U.S. Senate due to Senate Minority Leader
Chuck Schumer, causing every single appointment and confirmation hearing to go the full 30-plus
hours leaving quite a backlog of Trump nominees left unconfirmed as of yet, Alina Haba was
placed by the Trump administration as the acting U.S. attorney in New Jersey.
She then filed charges against Representative LaMonica McIver, a Democrat, after McIvor was seen on camera body slamming federal agents in an attempt to break into the Delaney ICE facility outside of Newark.
Hakeem Jeffries, the House Minority Leader, encouraged several judges to work together to vote to replace Alina Haba as acting U.S. attorney after the 120-day interim term.
This was accomplished on July 22nd.
They replaced Habba with her deputy, Desiree Grace.
But here's where the interesting part comes in.
Because the Department of Justice has direct authority over acting U.S. attorneys,
Attorney General Pam Bondi's office simply fired the assistant that took the place of Alina Haba.
Then the Trump administration appointed Alina Haba as acting U.S. attorney in New Jersey yet again.
In summary, we went from seeing Alina Haba as the interim U.S. attorney for the district of New Jersey.
Then a group of judges at the request of House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries,
for whom which this action has caused a serious ethics complaint,
causes those judges to remove Alina Haba,
who then officially steps down as interim U.S. attorney for the District of New Jersey
and then is appointed by President Trump as acting U.S. attorney in New Jersey.
