I'm Virginia Allen, and this is the Daily Signal Top News for Tuesday, March 12th.
Here are today's headlines.
Special counsel Robert Hur testified before the House Judiciary Committee today about his report on President Joe Biden's classified documents.
Her released the report in February and concluded that Biden willfully retained and disclosed classified materials after his vice presidency.
However, he opted not to bring charges, believing a...
A jury would be unlikely to convict Biden because, quote, his diminished faculties and advancing age.
During his opening statement, Hur said that he and his team conducted a thorough independent investigation
and that they identified evidence that the president willfully retain classified materials after the end of his vice presidency when he was a private citizen.
Let's take a listen to a little bit more of what Her had to say during his opening.
remarks. This evidence included an audio recorded conversation during which, during which Mr. Biden told
his ghostwriter that he had, quote, just found all the classified stuff downstairs, end quote.
When Mr. Biden said this, he was a private citizen speaking to his ghostwriter in his private rental
home in Virginia. We also identified other recorded conversations during which Mr. Biden read
classified information aloud to his ghostwriter. We did not, however, identify.
evidence that rose to the level of proof beyond a reasonable doubt. Because the evidence fell short of
that standard, I declined to recommend criminal charges against Mr. Biden. During the hearing, Florida
Republican Representative Matt Gates questioned her about President Biden claiming he did not share
classified information. Let's take a listen to that exchange. February 8th, the White House question,
Mr. President, why did you share classified information with your ghostwriter? The
president I did not share classified information I did not share it I guarantee I did not
that's not true is it mr. Hur that is inconsistent with the findings based on the
evidence in my report yes it's a lie is just what regular people would say right
yeah all right so the next one and all the stuff that was in my home was in filing
cabinets that were either locked or able to be locked that wasn't true either
was it? That was inconsistent with the findings of our investigation. Another lie, people might say,
right? Because what you put in your report was among the places Mr. Biden's lawyers found classified
documents in the garage was a damaged open box. Also, during the hearing, Democrats repeatedly brought
up former President Donald Trump's classified documents case. New York Democrat representative Jerry Nadler
noted that Trump was charged in the Florida documents case with trying to obstruct the investigation.
Nadler asked, at any point in your investigation, do you have any reason to believe that President Biden lied to you?
Her referred to the February 8th report from his office and said, I do address in my report one response the president gave to a question we posed to him that we deemed to be not credible.

Earlier today, Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito
extended a temporary pause on a Texas law
that enables state law enforcement officers
both to arrest and detain illegal aliens.
The Daily Caller News Foundation reported
that the Biden administration had asked the Supreme Court
earlier this month to prevent the law from taking effect.
The Biden administration had claimed
that the law would create chaos
in the United States efforts to administer federal immigration laws in Texas.
As we reported on last week's show, this resulted in an administrative stay until March 13th at 5 p.m.
However, Alito extended that pause until March 18th at 5 p.m.
The Associated Press reports that the extension gives the court an extra week to consider
what opponents have called the most extreme attempt by a state to police immigration
since an Arizona law that was partially struck down by the Supreme Court in 2012.
We'll keep you all up to date as this story continues to develop.
Is Boeing 737 Maxjet safe?
That's the big question that the Federal Aviation Administration has been trying to answer
following a door blowing off a 737 Maxjet back in January.
So the Federal Aviation Administration conducted a six-weeks,
week audit of Boeing's production of the 737 MaxJet and found dozens of problems throughout the
manufacturing process at the plane maker and one of the key suppliers. That's according to a
slide presentation that was reviewed by the New York Times. The examination was started following
that incident on the Alaska Airlines flight when the door blew off. The New York Times also
reported that the Federal Aviation Administration conducted 13 product audit.
Those audits focused on spirit arrow systems, which makes the fuse leg or the body of the 737 max.
Six of those audits resulted in passing grades, and seven resulted in failing ones, according to the presentation.
Boeing spokeswoman Jessica Cal said that Boeing was continuing to implement immediate changes and develop a comprehensive action plan to strengthen safety and quality and build the confidence of our customers and their passengers.
according to the Times. You can read more about the New York Times findings in today's show notes.
The chairman of the House Administration's subcommittee on oversight says his newly released report
about the investigation into the politicization of the January 6th Select Committee and what happened
on January 6th, 2021 is just the beginning. Georgia Republican Representative Barry Loudermilk
said in a statement for nearly two years, former Speaker Nancy Pelosi's January 6th,
Select Committee promoted hearsay and cherry-picked information to promote its political goal
to legislatively prosecute former President Donald Trump.
The Georgia representative went on to say it was no surprise that the Select Committee's
final report focused primarily on former President Trump and his supporters, not the security
failures and reforms needed to ensure the United States Capitol is safer today than in 2021.
A one-pager about the report claims that California Democrat Representative Nancy Pelosi
made the unprecedented decision to refuse to appoint minority members chosen by the minority
to the select committee and that the committee hired Hollywood producers to assist with their primetime hearings.
The one pager also claims that Mississippi Democrat Representative Benny Thompson and former Republican from Wyoming,
Representative Liz Cheney failed to turn over video recording of witnesses, interviews, and
depositions despite using these recordings in their high-profile primetime hearings.
Thompson issued a statement in response to the report, which said, Mr. Loudermilk's latest attack
on the Select Committee's work is dishonest. The Select Committee's final report took into account
the testimony of all witnesses, including the transcript that was released today.
the evidence points to the same conclusion. Donald Trump wanted to join his violent mob as it marched
on the Capitol and he was irate when his security detail told him he couldn't go. Former Wyoming
Republican Representative Liz Cheney also reacted to the report on X on Tuesday morning, saying if your
response to Trump's assault on our democracy is to lie and cover up what he did, attack the brave men and women
who came forward with the truth and defend the criminals who violently assaulted the Capitol,
you need to rethink whose side you're on.
Hint, it's not Americas, according to Liz Cheney.
Well, with that, that is going to do it for today's episode.
