President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky meet in Florida to discuss a possible ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia.
Independent investigations in Minnesota reveal Somali fraud extends to fake daycares and legacy media ignore it all by focusing on a full day of speculating about AI.
I'm Tony Kennett, host of the Daily Signals Tony Kenned cast syndicated nationally at 7 p.m. Eastern.
It is Monday, December 29th, 2025.
This is the Daily Signals.
Top News in 10.
Yesterday, the president of the United States
hosted Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky
at his Mar-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida
for bilateral talks focused on ending
the Russo-Ukrainian War.
The meeting concluded with a joint press conference
where both leaders expressed optimism
about progress towards finally reaching an end
to the Russo-Ukrainian War.
I really believe we're probably
Mr. President closer than by far closer than ever before with both parties.
We had sometimes when he was close and President Putin wasn't,
then when President Putin was close and he wasn't.
You saw that in the White House, but I think they both want to see it happen.
President Trump stated that the United States and Ukraine had made a lot of progress
and were getting very close or perhaps a little closer to a deal,
suggesting that it could be within the next couple of weeks,
if all goes well. The U.S.-Ukraine security guarantees, what number are we at right now?
Well, I think we're, look, you know, you can say 95 percent, but I don't like to say percentages.
I just think we're doing very well. We're very, we could be very close. There are one or two
very thorny issues, very tough issues, but I think we're doing very well. We've made a lot of
progress today, but really we've made it over the last month. This is not a one-day process
deal. This is very complicated stuff. But I think when the president says, 95,
I think, you know, could be close to 95%.
While both leaders acknowledged one or two thorny issues,
at least that's how they said it,
that remain unresolved, including things like territorial disputes,
President Trump noted that much has been agreed on
regarding the 20-point plan derived from broader negotiations,
including possible security guarantees,
not just economically but militarily,
involving the United States if Russia were ever to participate
in a second invasion.
of Ukraine. And your mind, sir, what are the thorniest issues still unresolved after the
Well, I think the land, you're talking about. Some of that land has been taken. Some of that
land is maybe up for grabs, but it may be taken over the next period of a number of months.
And are you better off making a deal now? Look, let me tell you, they have been very brave.
They fought very hard and continue to fight very hard and do tremendous damage. But
Russia would like to see it end and Ukraine would like to say it.
And I think it's time to end.
And a lot of very brave people.
A lot of people that are dead right now, unfortunately.
In a rather awkward display by ABC's Jonathan Carl on their Sunday show ABCs this week,
Carl attempted to suggest that President Donald Trump could be on the side of authoritarianism and pure, unfettered evil.
And a question to Representative Mike Turner from Ohio on the Ukrainian visit to Florida.
So now they're asking for security assurances for the future to have their sovereignty, to have a future.
You know, obviously we need to be on the side of what they want, which is sovereignty.
They're on the side of democracy, liberty, and, you know, Russia's on the side of authoritarianism and aggression.
Which side is Trump on?
I, you know, clearly, you know, Trump is on the side of peace, and he's trying to balance these two forces, which is very, very difficult to bring these two parties.
together. But in balancing it, we have to understand that Russia's goal is to take from someone
else something that's theirs. And Ukraine has to have a sense of security assurances that Russia's
not coming back. But can I just ask? Is he, Trump has repeatedly said that Ukraine never should
have started this war or words to that effect. I mean, Ukraine didn't start this war.
Well, they were invaded.
Clearly.
So how does that affect his effort to try to broker a peace deal?
Clearly, a war of aggression is started by Russia, and it has been started by Russia.
And I think that in that Trump's sense of wanting peace is incredibly important, and I think
it's a noble goal.
And I think we're getting closer.
I think that Zelensky is coming with a plan that is workable and that could get us
there, and hopefully with our allies in Europe that has.
have come together, which with they seem to be working and advancing the type of security
assurances we're going to need with the United States, that hopefully we can deter Russia in the
future. Meanwhile, the situation regarding the Somali fraud in Minnesota is getting much, much
worse. According to independent journalist Nick Shirley, who released a December 26th, 45-minute
documentary on a series of daycares in Minnesota, these daycares run by Somali or
organizations, we're receiving federal grant money, including that from the small business administration,
all to run daycare centers that, while in addition to spelling the word learning incorrectly in
the title, hosted no children at all.
The children here in your child care?
Which child care name is a lot of children?
Minnesota child care right here.
It's from the state of Minnesota's website.
We're just wondering where the children are.
Where the children are?
Yeah, where are the children?
It says you have 102 children here.
And you got two.
$2.66 million this year in funding and 2.5 million last year we're just wondering where the
where the kids are. My name's Nick Shirley. Nick Shirley. Oh, we are from ourselves.
Hello, we'd like to ask where the money's going. Look at that. Shut us down. Where are the
children at? No children inside of this daycare center. And look at this daycare center right here,
No children inside of this daycare center, but between those buildings, over $2.6 million.
And this fraud is here at this daycare.
Don't open up!
So this is quality leering center.
I meant to say quality learning center.
Don't open up!
They said they spelled learning wrong.
Don't open up!
How do you have ice here, ma'am?
I'm literally a YouTuber.
Don't open up!
Man, what do you think about the fraud that's taking place here in Minnesota?
Don't open up!
We have ice!
I knocked on the door and to my surprise somebody actually answered the door.
Hello.
Can we speak?
Yeah.
I would like to check a child in the daycare.
Can I speak to a manager?
Where can I get paperwork to file for my son?
I wanted to put my son Joey in daycare.
And after a few questions, the lady went silent.
Looks like little Joey Shirley ain't going to daycare here.
Other independent journalists from around the country have begun
looking at records of Somali-run daycare centers in places like Washington State and Ohio.
As one put it, there are 539 child care centers in Washington State that lists Somali as the
primary language. Most don't even give a street address. As a quick reminder, Minnesota
Governor Tim Walls, the former Democratic vice presidential candidate, has called all inquiry by
the White House as well as the United States Congress and the Associative Executive Agencies
into the affairs of Minnesota and how it spends federal tax dollars, not to mention Minnesota
tax dollars on Somali organizations as white supremacy. Here's Tim Walls.
So this is what happens when your own federal government wages war against you. This is what happens
when they target communities for their own benefit. This is what happens when they scapegoat.
And this is what happens when they no longer hide the idea of white supremacy when you hear the
Vice President of the United States talk about now white people won't have to apologize for being
white. That's never happened once in my whole damn life. And I think everybody in this room knows what
they're doing. So we're here today to say enough of this. We're here today to stand that Minnesota
will protect their neighbors. Now, normally when we do a Monday episode of the top news in 10, we bring
you a few updates from the Sunday shows, these legacy media shows that bring on some of the major
business and political players from around the country and answer some top heavy-hitting questions
from the legacy media's best, or at least what they used to be. But I'm afraid you're not going
to find any of the conversation that the rest of the country is discussing on this major
Minnesota fraud scandal that may now encompass multiple states from the Somali migrant influx.
None of the Sunday shows made any point at all to even mention.
mention it. Three of the major Sunday shows spent a lot of time talking about AI. These would be
CNN's State of the Union, CBS Face the Nation, and NBC's Meet the Press. And so here's
Republican Senator Katie Britt of Alabama on with Jake Tapper on CNN's State of the Union to
discuss AI chatbot minor regulation. I want to elevate this topic for parents from coast to coast.
I mean, we are not doing enough to put up guardrails. I mean, you and I did not grow up with front
facing cameras. So when you're looking at what's happening,
right now with extortion and young people when you're looking at what's happening right now
with the bullying online and whatnot. Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont on AI regulation from his
perspective. Multi-multi billionaires are pouring hundreds of billions of dollars into implementing
and developing this technology. What is their motive? Do you think they're staying up nights
worrying about working people and how this technology will impact those people? They are not.
They are doing it to get richer and even more powerful.
CBS News, face the nation's security contributor Sam Vinegrad on artificial intelligence.
And Margaret, if I can just add, it's not just reshaping how businesses operate.
It's also reshaping how governments operate.
