I'm Jillian Richards. I'm Pridney Allen. And this is the Daily Signal Top News for Wednesday, November 2nd.
Here are today's headlines.
Elon Musk said users who have been blocked from Twitter won't be allowed back onto the platform until there's a clear process in place.
This may take a few weeks or more. Musk, who recently closed on his $44 billion Twitter purchase, made these remarks in a tweet today.
Musk said he's talked to civil society leaders about how Twitter will continue.
to combat hate and harassment and enforce its election integrity policies.
Musk added that Twitter's Content Moderation Council will include representatives with widely
divergent views, which will certainly include the civil rights community and groups who face
hate-fueled violence.
According to the Washington Post, the U.S. Capitol Police have surveillance footage of the man
breaking into House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's home in San Francisco on Friday morning.
A Capitol Police officer reportedly backtracked the footage to minutes before San Francisco Police arrived.
Three sources told the Washington Post that the Capitol Police video caught the assailant hammer in hand breaking into Pelosi's home.
But no one saw it happening in the moment.
The police arrived after the man had broken in where he attacked Nancy Pelosi's husband, Paul Pelosi, with a hammer.
The House Speaker was not home at the time.
The San Francisco Police Department has come under scrutiny.
scrutiny following the attack.
An Arizona federal judge has temporarily ordered a group which monitors ballot drop boxes
to stay at least 75 feet away from the boxes.
U.S. District Judge Michael LaBerty, who is appointed by former President Donald Trump,
placed this restraint on Clean Elections USA this Tuesday.
Clean Elections USA is an election monitoring group.
The Washington Post reports that LaBerty also told the group to correct statements
its members have made questioning the integrity of Arizona election law.
This ruling prevents clean elections USA and other groups from taking photos or videos of voters at dropboxes.
Judge Liberty granted this temporary restraining order after hearing the testimony of a man
who said 10 election watchers with cameras harassed him and his wife at a drop box in Mesa, Arizona.
The D.C. Council voted to push the city's mandatory COVID-19 vaccine.
deadline for students to next year. The council made this decision yesterday afternoon.
DC students ages 12 and up originally had to get the COVID shot by January 3rd of 2023.
The deadline is now pushed forward another year. Senator Ted Cruz weighed in on the council's
decision. He told the daily signal the DC Council is beginning to recognize the impossibility
and irrationality of throwing thousands of children out of school if they choose
not to take the COVID vaccine.
Cruz added, we've known for a long time now
that children face much less risk from COVID-19.
It's time for the D.C. Council to give parents' assurance,
stop threatening their children's education,
and repeal this racist vaccine mandate once and for all.
President Joe Biden will be giving a speech at Union Station
in Washington, D.C. later today.
The Democratic National Committee, which is hosting the event,
said that President Biden will share remarks on preserving and protecting our democracy.
Stay tuned for the Daily Signals fact checks on the speech.
