I'm Jillian Richards.
I'm Samantha Sherris.
And this is the Daily Signal Top News for Monday, November 7th.
Here are today's headlines.
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, a Republican, said the U.S.-Mexico border crisis
will be the first issue Republicans tackle if they take back Congress in tomorrow's midterm elections.
Listen to McCarthy's remarks, which he shared with CNN this Sunday.
On the border, if you're speaker, what will you specifically do to secure the border?
Well, there's a number of things. I think stay in Mexico, you have to right off the bat.
You've got to stop the cartels' control of the border. You've got to stop fentanyl from coming across.
Fentanyl, when you think about it, is a chemical of mass destruction. It is killing our next generation.
It's the number one killer of Americans between the ages of 18 and 45.
And any time you think about that, those are the ages of individuals who enlist to defend our nation.
That is the age that is most productive in the workforce.
It is destroying this nation.
It's coming through this border, the poison from Mexico on and through the cartels.
And 300 Americans are going to be poisoned and died today.
President Biden said yesterday that there's no new drilling in the U.S.
Biden made this comment at a rally for New York's Democratic governor, Kathy Hokel,
just days before the congressional midterm elections come to a close.
Biden responded to an audience member who was challenging his climate policies.
Amid music, you can hear Biden say,
There's no more drilling. There is no more drilling.
I haven't formed any new drilling.
One Wall Street Journal poll shows that 17% of black voters say they'd vote for Republicans in tomorrow's midterm races.
Pew Research found that only 6% of black voters supported Republicans in 2018.
The Washington Examiner reports that Democrats' advantage among Latino voters has slimmed to five percentage points following an 11-point lead in August.
The declining support for Democrats is especially prominent among working-class Latinos.
Polster John Anzolone told the Wall Street Journal,
I think that this could be a paradigm shift election, where Republicans are not only making inroads with the Latino vote,
but they're now making inroads with the African-American vote.
Former President Bill Clinton appeared at a get-out-the-vote rally for Democratic Senate candidate Catherine Cortez Mastro in Nevada this weekend.
Cortez Mastro will face Republican candidate Adam Lacksl in Nevada's general election for U.S. Senate tomorrow.
Clinton warned the crowd at yesterday's rally to not make protest votes and get carried away in anger.
He commented on Cortez Mastro's support on Democrat-backed policies such as the Inflation Reduction Act.
Clinton said, I can't think of any member of the Senate who's done more useful things.
And she doesn't go around demonizing Republicans.
She just gets up and does what she thinks is right.
Check out some of Clinton's remarks captured by Reuters on Sunday.
I haven't been in office for more than 20 years.
But I continue to study the economy.
I continue to see what's going on here and what's going on around the world.
And I have never felt more strongly that everything I work for all my life is on the line now.
Whoopi Goldberg, co-host of ABC's The View, announced today that she'll be leaving Twitter in the wake of Elon Musk's takeover.
She told her audience on The View that she's uncomfortable with Musk's proposed changes to Twitter's
contents moderation policies. Goldberg added that if things settled down, then maybe she'll come
back to the platform. Look out for a lunar eclipse that'll turn the moon blood red tomorrow morning.
Base.com says this is the first time in recorded history that a lunar eclipse is set to take
place on Election Day. And that'll do it for today's episode. Thank you for listening to the Daily
