I'm Samantha Rink.
I'm Virginia Allen.
And this is the Daily Signal top news for September 14th.
Here are today's headlines.
Three Iranian nationals have been charged with allegedly orchestrating a scheme to hack into the computer networks of multiple U.S. victims, the Justice Department said today in a press release.
The three men engaged in a scheme to gain unauthorized access to the computer systems of hundreds of victims in the United States, the United Kingdom, Israel, Iran,
and elsewhere, causing damage and losses to the victims, dating back to October 2020 and through
present day, the press release says.
Assistant Attorney General Matthew G. Olson in the DOJ's National Security Division blamed
the Iranian government for creating a safe haven for cybercriminals, saying,
the government of Iran has created a safe haven where cyber criminals acting for personal gain
flourish and defendants like these are able to hack and extort victims, including critical
infrastructure providers. This indictment makes clear that even other Iranians are less safe because
their own government fails to follow international norms and stop Iranian cybercriminals.
No arrests have been made as of this recording and the three men were reportedly not working on behalf
of the Iranian government, though they have connections to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard,
Fox News reported. The FBI seized Mike Lindell's phone at a fast food restaurant drive-thru in
Minnesota. The MyPillow CEO revealed what happened on his podcast, the Lindell report on Tuesday
night. Take a listen. This afternoon, I was, I went down hunting in Iowa for the early chill season
with my friend this morning at 4 a.m. We got up, headed down to Iowa. We were coming back and
we stopped to go through a hearties in Mancato where I was born in Mancato, Minnesota. And cars pulled up
in front of us, to the side of us and behind us. And I said,
um,
these are either bad guys or the FBI. Well, it turns out they were the FBI.
Lindell pushed unproven election fraud theories about how former president Donald Trump
lost the 2020 presidential election. The agents question Lindell about Tina Peters.
She's a Mesa County Colorado clerk who was charged with sharing copies of county election data in
May of 2021, as the Washington Post reported. Lundell said they also questioned him about Douglas
Frank, who was an Ohio teacher who is said to have discovered algorithms used to rig the presidential
election in 2020. Lundell also shared about an interesting letter during his podcast. The letter
was signed by a Colorado assistant U.S. attorney, which stated that prosecutors were conducting
an official criminal investigation of a suspected felony. The Washington,
Post reported the probe is one of multiple investigations underway into alleged security breaches
of local election offices in states, also including Michigan and Georgia.
Now here's some potentially bad news for any listeners taking a train this weekend.
There are rumors of a national railroad strike this Friday as U.S. freight railroads and their
unions continue discussions, the Associated Press reported. White House Press Secretary Karin Jean-Pierre
said the White House is working on alternatives to trains such as shippers, truckers, and air freight,
should the strike happen. Let's hear what she had to say per the White House YouTube page.
We are working with other modes of transportation, including the shippers and truckers,
air freight, to see how they can step in and keep goods moving in case of this rail shutdown.
The administration has also been working with relevant agencies to assess what supply chains and commodities are most likely to face severe disruptions and available authorities to keep goods moving.
So again, we're really working with and trying to figure out with other modes of transportation how to move forward.
The Associated Press reported this afternoon that union members from the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers District 19 rejected a tentative
deal with the largest U.S. freight railroads and three other unions remain at the bargaining table.
We will keep you updated should a strike occur on Friday. And that'll do it for today's episode.
