Starting point is 00:00:34 This is the Daily Signals top news for Wednesday, September 7th. Here are today's headlines. House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy is set to introduce a commitment to America in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on September 19th, that will focus on why people should vote for Republicans instead of just voting against Democrats. That's from Axios, who first reported that story. The document will focus on four key commitments the Republican Party plans to focus on, an economy that is strong, a nation that is safe, a future that is free, and a government that is accountable. That's per Axios.
Starting point is 00:01:20 The New York Post reported that the name, commitment to America, is a deliberate callback to Newt Gingrich's 1994 contract with America, which is credited with helping Republicans regain control of the House of Representatives in that year for the first time in more than four decades. McCarthy's office reportedly began distributing messaging memos on the four priorities ahead of the August recess, while also previewing the plan during a speech in Scranton, Pennsylvania last week, just before President Biden delivered a speech in Philadelphia. That's from the Hill. During his speech last week, McCarthy mentioned the Republican plan to take the country in a new direction. Let's take a listen to that part of his speech, per the Hill.
Starting point is 00:01:59 Republicans have a plan for a new direction that will get our country back on track. Our plan is a commitment to America. If Republicans are given the opportunity and on it, or to have the majority in the house, we will work day and night, hour after hour, for you the people. The Mar-Lago saga continues, as anonymous reporting from the Washington Post indicates documents containing a foreign power's nuclear secrets were being stored at former President Trump's residence. Late Tuesday evening, the Post reported that FBI agents found a document describing a foreign government's military defenses, including its nuclear nuclear.
Starting point is 00:02:45 capabilities while searching Mar-a-Lago last month. According to the article, some of the documents seized by the FBI detailed top-secret U.S. operations that many national security officials don't even know about. Former President Trump spoke out about the FBI's raid in a truth social post earlier today, saying, not only did the FBI steal my passports in the FBI raid and break-in of my home, Mar-a-Lago, but it has just been learned through court filings that they, also improperly took my complete and highly confidential medical file and history with all the bells and whistles. At least they'll see that I'm very healthy and absolutely perfect physical specimen,
Starting point is 00:03:29 plus personal tax records illegal to take and lawyer-client-privileged information, a definite no-no, days of the Soviet Union. The United States National Security Council is condemning an unprecedented cyber attack that Iran committed against Albania in July, the Hill reported this morning. National Security Council spokeswoman Adrian Watson said, Iran's conduct disregards norms of responsible peacetime state behavior in cyberspace, which includes a norm on refraining from damaging infrastructure that provides services to the public, per the Washington Times.
Starting point is 00:04:04 The U.S. was working on a new nuclear deal with Iran after former President Trump pulled out of the 2015 Iran nuclear deal. However, that deal is delayed for the foreseeable future. based on recent conversations between Israel's Prime Minister Yair Lepid, President Biden, and other administration officials, according to the Times of Israel. The Washington Times also reported that the July 15th attack shut down several Albanian digital services and websites. ABC News reported this morning Albania has cut diplomatic ties with Iran over the incident and has also ordered Iran's embassy staff to leave the country. A Louisiana congressman is sounding the alarm over a new TV show and its so-called Satan.
Starting point is 00:04:43 imagery. The show Little Demon, which is available on FX's streaming service, premiered on August 25th, with Danny DeVito playing Satan in Aubrey Plaza, playing the mother of the Antichrist. Shreveport Times reported. Disney owns FX. According to the show's description on FX's website, 13 years after being impregnated by Satan, a reluctant mother, Laura and her Antichrist's daughter, Chrissy, attempt to live an ordinary life in Delaware, but are constantly thwarted by monstrous forces, including Satan. who yearns for custody of his daughter's soul. Congressman Mike Johnson wrote in a lengthy Facebook post
Starting point is 00:05:20 that he saw commercial for the show while watching the LSU game and then he couldn't get to the remote fast enough to shield his 11-year-old daughter from seeing it. The trailer included dark images of hell, demons, and satanic imagery, Johnson wrote, an explanation that the main character is the Antichrist. And that'll do it for today's episode.
