I'm Julian Richards.
I'm Virginia Allen.
And this is the Daily Signal Top News for Friday, October 28th.
Here are today's headlines.
Elon Musk's $44 billion purchase of Twitter was finalized today.
And he's already getting down to business.
Just yesterday, Musk fired several Twitter executives, including the CEO, the CFO, the top legal and policy executive, and the general counsel.
Shortly after this, Musk tweeted,
the bird is freed. The deal is finally settled after months of Musk going back and forth on whether to buy the platform.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's husband was assaulted in their San Francisco home this morning.
The assailant broke into their residence and assaulted 82-year-old Paul Pelosi with a hammer.
Reports say the attacker was searching for Nancy Pelosi who was not home at the time.
Nancy Pelosi's office issued a statement saying her husband was.
taken to a hospital where he's expected to make a full recovery. The statement also says the
assailant is in custody and the motivation for the attack is under investigation. A Ukrainian military
officials said Ukraine has shot down over 300 Iranian-made drones deployed by Russian forces
since September 13th. A spokesperson for the Air Force command of Ukrainian armed forces
shared this information in a press briefing today.
Per CNN, the spokesman told reporters that Moscow is changing tactics because it doesn't have
enough missiles left.
He said Moscow is running out of Russian-made-Escander missiles and that other types of missiles
are scarce.
CNN also reports that the Ukrainian foreign minister said he spoke with his Iranian
counterpart earlier today.
The Ukrainian wrote on Twitter that he demanded Iran immediately.
immediately ceased the flow of weapons to Russia used to kill civilians and destroy critical infrastructure.
Former New York Democrat Governor Andrew Cuomo bashed President Biden's immigration policies on the Cats at Night talk show on Thursday.
Cuomo commented on Biden's open border immigration policies and the influx of immigrants sent from Texas to New York City.
Cuomo said the federal government is primarily responsible to handle the surge of migrants.
He argued it isn't the New York City mayor's problem, adding that Mayor Adams should not be paying $1 billion and figuring out where to put them in speaking about the migrants.
Here are some of Cuomo's other remarks he made yesterday per WABC radio.
These are not immigrants. These are asylum seekers.
And what happened is President Trump had closed the border to asylum seekers where they had to stay on the Mexico side of the border until their claim.
was heard. And President Biden opposed that and he said, I'm going to open the border and they can
wait in this country, which had been the longstanding practice. It went on for a couple of years,
he opened the border. But they never made preparations for the influx. And now you had this
backlog of people who were waiting for the gates to open. The gates open. The crowd comes in.
state of Texas was overwhelmed.
I understand Governor Abbott's point.
State of Florida was overwhelmed.
The border towns, El Paso had went up 40%.
And they then sent the migrants north to make their point.
But the federal government did drop the ball.
When you open the gates, you have to be prepared to deal with the issue.
You know, when you change policy, you need the program.
for the policy change. It's not just political rhetoric.
