I'm Virginia Allen, and this is the DailySled Top News for Friday, June 9th.
Here are today's headlines.
Former President Donald Trump announced Thursday evening that a federal court in Miami has indicted him.
The former president said in a true social post, the corrupt Biden administration has informed my attorneys that I have been indicted seemingly over the boxes hoax, even though Joe Biden had 1,850.
boxes at the University of Delaware. Trump went on claiming Biden has classified documents strewn
all over his garage floor. Trump made the comments in reference to classified documents found in
Biden's possession in his old office and his home in Delaware. They were reported to be
seven charges in Trump's indictment, including possible obstruction of justice for allegedly
making false representations in a sworn statement to the FBI and the
grand jury. As Trump noted, Biden faces a classified document scandal of his own. And former
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton escaped prosecution for her own abuse of classified documents
using her insecure email server. In the statement, Trump said he would appear before court on
Tuesday. I caught up with Florida Republican Senator Marco Rubio earlier today to discuss Trump's
indictment. Here's what he had to say.
I honestly believe that the harm, the harm, whatever harm was created by documents being stored, be they in Biden's garage or Mar-a-Lago or wherever, is far outweighed by the harm of this bringing this indictment.
Far outweighed. Why? This is already a volatile country. This is already a dangerously polarized country.
And now you are now on top of that I'm going to pour gasoline with an indictment that you know, that you know a significant plurality of American, significant percentage.
are going to say that's political.
And it comes on the heels of two impeachments,
including one after he was out of office.
The indictment in New York, now this one,
another thing going on in Georgia,
a lawsuit in another New York court,
the whole dossier thing that turned our country
for two and a half years, that's all they focused on.
It comes after a lot.
And so people look at that and say,
hold on a second.
No, this is a two-tier system of government.
This feels like our institutions are being politicized.
You can hear the rest of Rubio's comments,
by checking out my article in today's show notes.
And other Republicans are also weighing in on the news of the former president's indictment.
Florida governor in 2024 presidential candidate Ron DeSantis tweeted on Thursday that weaponization
of federal law enforcement represents a mortal threat to a free society.
We have for years witnessed an uneven application of the law depending upon political affiliation.
DeSantis questioned why so.
zealous in pursuing Trump, yet so passive about Hillary or Hunter. The DeSantis administration
will bring accountability to the DOJ, exercise political bias, and end weaponization once and for
all, according to the Florida governor. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy also reacted to the news,
tweeting on Thursday, today is indeed a dark day for the United States of America. It is
unconscionable for a president to indict the leading candidate opposing him.
Joe kept classified documents for decades.
I in every American who believe in the rule of law stand with President Trump against this grave
injustice.
House Republicans will hold his brazen weaponization of power accountable.
New York Representative Elise Stefani, who's chairman of the House Republican Conference,
released a statement on the matter on Thursday.
She said the exact same day that the FBI is forced to turn over to Congress,
absolutely damning and credible allegations regarding Joe Biden's illegal, egregious, and treasonous corruption.
Joe Biden weaponizes his Department of Justice to indict Donald Trump.
And Trump's former vice president, Mike Pence, also had something to say on the matter.
Keep in mind that Pence has just announced his bid for presidency in 2024.
or, of course, running against Donald Trump.
Pence says he is deeply troubled to see this indictment move forward,
adding that he had hoped that the DOJ would see its way clearer not to move forward here.
But let's be clear, Pence adds, no one is above the law.
We've included a link to some more Republicans' comments and reporting in today's show notes.
In another news, the Daily Signal's Jarrett Stettman is reporting that President
Biden was given $5 million by an executive of the Ukrainian natural gas firm Burisma Holdings.
Biden's son, Hunter, sat on the board of that gas firm.
The accusation was described by a confidential human source in the FBI in a June 2020 interview,
according to Fox.
The accusation comes from the content of an official FBI form.
The document alleges that Biden was paid by Burisma in a criminal bribery scheme to influence U.S. foreign policy in 2015 and 2016 when he was vice president.
The FBI source described how a Burisma executive bribed the Bidens to get access to U.S. oil, while Ukrainian prosecutor, Victor Shokin, was investigating the company.
The executive, according to the FBI source, wanted to pay Biden and his son $5 million each.
So what's Biden saying in response?
Biden was questioned by reporters on the issue and called the accusations a bunch of malarkey.
House Oversight and Accountability Chairman James Comer is weighing on both Trump's indictment and Biden's alleged bribery scheme.
Comer told Newsmax on Thursday, well, I don't think it's any.
coincidence that the day that the House Oversight Committee has access to an FBI form that
suggests Joe Biden was involved in a bribery scheme, that the DOJ comes back and indicts Donald
Trump. Comer also said, we've talked about this for over a year now, that the DOJ and the FBI
has a two-tiered system of justice. And we are ending our show today this Friday with some
interesting news regarding a spa. The Daily Wire reports that Olympus Spa, which is a Korean-American
women's spa that does require nudity, has been ordered by a federal judge that they must admit
men who identify as women. A man who identifies as a woman named Haven-Wilvich was reportedly
denied membership to the spa because Wilvich did not have surgery and then complained to the
Washington State Human Rights Commission. The Daily Wire also reports that Olympus Spa only admitted
trans-identifying men if they had gone through post-operative sex confirmation surgery. The spa tried to
sue the commission after it was ordered to change its rules, but a Washington district court dismissed it.
And with that, that's going to do it for today's edition of the Daily Signals, top news. If you have
of the chance. Be sure to check out our morning show. It comes out every weekday morning. And during
that show, we bring you interviews with so many amazing people, people like lawmakers, experts,
