I'm Gillian Richards. I'm Samantha Sherris.
And this is the Daily Signal Top News for Friday, October 14th.
Here are today's headlines.
Virginia parents might face criminal charges if they don't treat their child as a different sex than what they were born into.
Virginia delegate Elizabeth Guzman, a Democrat, plans to introduce a bill in Richmond that would expand the definition of child abuse.
This new definition of abuse would apply to parents who refuse
to comply with their child's desire to be treated as the opposite sex.
Guzman told WJLA News that if parents refused to honor their child's desired gender identity,
the child could inform mandated reporters, and then child protective services could get involved.
Check out her comments shared by WJLA yesterday.
There's an investigation also in place that is not only, you know, from a social worker,
but there's also a police investigation before.
we make the decision that there is going to be a CPS charge.
Guzman's bill pushes back against Virginia Governor Glenn Yonkin's model policies which would
require Virginia schools to give parents a say over whether or not their child transitions while
at school. My colleague Tyler O'Neill reports that Virginia's Attorney General Jason Mierrez
has vowed to protect parental rights against Guzman's proposed legislation. Miaris told the Daily
signal, the far left doesn't seem to understand that Virginia parents want to be involved in their
children's lives. This is just another attempt to replace the role of parents with the government.
Families have the right to raise children's, not the state. A Democratic operative and ally to
the Clintons, Charles Dolan, admitted he made up a source used in Christopher Steele's dossier to
discredit former President Trump's 2016 campaign. The Washington Examiner reports that Dolan
Tisland testified Thursday that his main source for the Steele dossier was Russian official Igor Dan
Chenko, who has been charged with five false statements. One of these statements relates to an
August 2016 email exchange between Dan Chanko and Dolan in which they claim to have shared
information that made its way into the Steele dossier. Danchenko allegedly concealed this exchange
from the FBI. The examiner reports that Dolan now admits he made up the sourcing for a claim about
Paul Manafort's resignation as Trump's campaign manager. Dolan originally told Dan Chanko in their
2016 email exchange that he got information on Manafort from an insider acquaintance. Dolan said
yesterday he actually got information from watching TV. Marchful Life President Jeannie Mancini announced
yesterday that the theme of this year's March will center on the next steps of the pro-life
movement. Ever since the pro-life march was founded in 1973, which was
the same year the court ruled to legalize abortion in all 50 states, pro-lifers have gathered
every year to March in Washington, D.C. The march always ended at the Supreme Court. But now that
Roe has been overturned, Mancini said that the march will end at the U.S. Capitol building, as well
as state capitals across the country. She explained there's still a reason to march, since abortion
will be an issue at the state level. The next March for Life is planned in January.
Two climate activists poured a can of tomato soup on Vincent Van Gogh's Sunflowers painting in London's National Gallery today.
The painting is worth nearly $84.2 million. National Review reports that the two women glued their hands to the wall after defacing the painting.
They lectured onlookers asking, what's worth more, art or life?
Are you more concerned about the protection of a painting or the protection of our planet and our people?
Both women are members of the British organization Just Stop Oil, which demands that the UK government ends all new oil and gas.
According to National Review, the group has put on similar displays of protest previously.
And that'll do it for today's episode.
