I'm Gillian Richards. I'm Virginia Allen.
And this is the Daily Signal Top News for Tuesday, November 1st.
Here are today's headlines.
Virginia Lieutenant Governor, Winsom Sears, a Republican,
bashed the American Federation of Teachers President Randy Weingarten for her support of pandemic amnesty.
Weingarten tweeted this Monday that she agreed with an article in the Atlantic,
which argued we should forgive and forget the things we did to each other during the COVID pandemic.
But Sears slammed Weingarten for this tweet.
Listen to the comments Sears made on Fox and Friends today.
This is what they do.
She was one of the major proponents of closing our schools.
And unfortunately, most of these Democrat governors listened to her and did exactly that.
And now they're saying, oh, you know, just forget about it.
No, the problems are existing where our children did not learn.
And a matter of fact, they did not log in.
not one time, quite a few of them.
So what they're saying also is that the children did not have access to log on.
And we as parents are saying it is time for us to take back education.
And in fact, we are going to do that because we're going to elect different leaders
so that we can get full responsibility again.
Fox News reports that a horde of illegal immigrants crossed into El Paso, Texas,
weaving a Venezuelan flag on Monday.
Customs and border protection say the migrants attacked Border Patrol agents before they were pushed back into the river.
Border Patrol says these were Venezuelans protesting along the Rio Grande River.
The agency said one of the protesters assaulted a Border Patrol agent with a flagpole and another threw rocks at the agents.
U.S. Capitol Police Chief Tom Manger said in a Tuesday statement that law enforcement will need more resources to protect lawmakers,
due to the rocky political climate.
Manger wrote,
Friday's attack against Paul Pelosi
is an alarming reminder of the dangerous threats
elected officials and public figures face
during today's contentious political climate.
He added, with the increasing number of threats
against elected officials,
our work to further our efforts to protect the members of Congress
becomes increasingly urgent.
The D.C. Council is voting on whether to extend
the COVID-19 vaccine requirement for D.C. students today. Under the current policy, D.C. has mandated
students ages 12 and up to get the COVID shot by January 3rd of next year. The new policy was
introduced by two council members and would push this deadline to next year. Stay tuned for updates.
In other news, Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts delayed the handover of former
President Donald Trump's tax returns to the House Ways and Means Committee.
Robert's order gives the Supreme Court time to weigh the legal issues in Trump's appeal.
And that'll know for today's episode.

I'm going to be sitting down with Jake Denton of the Heritage Foundation to discuss what we can expect from Twitter now that the social
social media platform is under the leadership of Elon Musk.
Take a listen to a bit of our conversation.
He's going to do things different.
He's going to be the corky, kind of nerdy boss that everyone kind of expected him to be.
So, you know, the unorthodox approach, kind of the loud, obnoxious approach is what we should probably expect from Elon's Twitter.
Catch the full discussion tomorrow morning.
