Starting point is 00:00:00 Virginia may not be able to prevent non-citizens from illegally voting on November 5th. I'm Elizabeth Mitchell, and this is the Daily Signal Top News for Friday, October 25th. On Friday, Biden-nominated federal judge Patricia Gile issued a preliminary injunction ordering Virginia to stop removing potential non-citizens from its voter role. More than 1,500 allegedly self-identified non-citizens will be allowed to vote in Virginia as a result, Republican Governor Glenn Yonkin says. Yonkin said in a statement, let's be clear about what just happened only 11 days before a presidential election, a federal judge ordered Virginia to reinstate over 1,500 individuals who self-identified
Starting point is 00:00:54 themselves as non-citizens, back on the voter rolls. The Republican's administration is planning to file an emergency stay for the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals to block the injunction. The judge's order came in response to a request from the Biden-Harris Department of Justice, which sued Virginia to prevent its election department from removing non-citizens and other ineligible registrants from the voter rolls before November 5th. The DOJ argued Virginia violated the 1993 National Voter Registration Act, which requires states to complete not later than 90 days prior to the date of a primary or general election for federal
Starting point is 00:01:32 office, any program, the purpose of which is to systematically remove the names of ineligible voters from the official list of eligible voters. Virginia Republican Attorney General Jason Mierrez accused the Justice Department of pulling a shameful, politically motivated stunt ahead of the election. Mierrez said in a statement, it should never be illegal to remove an illegal voter, but today, a court urged by the Biden-Harris Department of Justice, ordered Virginia to put the names of non-citizens back on the voter rolls mere days before a presidential election. Former Secretary of State in 2016 Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton likened Donald Trump to Adolf Hitler for holding a rally at Madison Square Garden.
Starting point is 00:02:17 Here's Clinton talking to CNN's Caitlin Collins. Another thing that you'll see next week, Caitlin, is Trump actually reenacting the Madison Square Garden rally in 1939. I write about this in my book. President Franklin Roosevelt was appalled that neo-Nazis, fascists in America were
Starting point is 00:02:43 lining up to essentially pledge their support for the kind of government that they were seeing in Germany. So, I don't think we can ignore it. Clinton told Collins, she believes that Trump is a fascist.
Starting point is 00:02:59 Trump will hold the Madison Square Garden Rally on Sunday. Trump campaign national press secretary Caroline Leavitt told the New York Post that Clinton's comparison is disgusting. Leavitt said in a statement, Hillary Clinton is so messed up from her raging eight-year-long case of anti-Trump derangement syndrome that she forgot she did an event at Madison Square Garden when she was a senator and her husband Bill accepted the Democratic nomination there. Leavitt continued, putting aside her hypocrisy, Hillary's rhetoric about half of the country is disgusting. A 94-year-old Auschwitz survivor and Trump supporter named Jerry Worski said he takes great offense at the Hitler-Trump comparison. Here he is in a video posted
Starting point is 00:03:39 to X by the New York Post, Josh Christensen. Adolf Hitler invaded Poland when I was nine years old. He murdered my parents and most of our family. I know more about Hitler than Kamala will ever know in a thousand lifetimes. For her to accuse President Trump of being like Hitler is the worst thing I've ever heard in my 75 years living in the United States. I know President Trump, and he would never say this, and Kamala Harris knows that this. She owns my parents and everybody else who was murdered by Hitler, an apology. The Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson, and Republican Senate leader Mitch McConnell, are slamming Kamala Harris for dangerous rhetoric when speaking about Donald Trump.
Starting point is 00:04:35 Johnson and McConnell write in a rare joint statement on Friday that Vice President Harris may want the American people to entrust her with the sacred duty of executive authority. But first, she must abandon the base in irresponsible rhetoric that endangers both American lives and institutions. The Republican said Harris has fanned the flame. beneath a boiling cauldron of political animus. After two assassination attempts, Johnson and McConnell demand Harris take the threats against former President Donald Trump seriously,
Starting point is 00:05:04 saying, we have both been briefed on the ongoing and persistent threats to former President Donald Trump by adversaries to the United States, and we call on the Vice President to take these threats seriously. Stop escalating the threat environment and help ensure President Trump has the necessary resources to be protected from those threats. Johnson and McConnell compare Harris' rhetoric,
Starting point is 00:05:24 to that of the would-be shooter from the second assassination attempt. The letter says, The man who was caught waiting in ambush in Florida left others with a chilling call to arms. It is up to you now to finish the job. Labeling a political opponent as a fascist risks inviting yet another would-be assassin to try robbing voters of their choice before election day.
Starting point is 00:05:46 Now for today's quick hits, where we share a brief rundown of other top news of the day. First, the Washington Post announced Friday it will not endorse a presidential candidate for the first time in 40 years. Chief Executive Officer William Lewis said the Post is returning to our roots of not endorsing a candidate. Next up, as many Americans head to the polls this weekend for early voting, 86% of Americans support requiring photo ID to vote. Support varies by political party with 98% of Republicans, 67% of Democrats, and 84% of independence,
Starting point is 00:06:21 supporting requiring photo ID to vote. And that's all for today's episode. Thank you for listening to The Daily Signals Top News.
