Starting point is 00:01:17 I chose option B. I'm Julie Pinero, and I travel by myself because it's a rare space where I can say yes without asking anyone else first. I'm on a mission to reclaim the word Solita, trading the pity for possibility. Listen to Solita on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Starting point is 00:02:34 and a lot of other big shots that wouldn't be where they are without us. Listen to Hollywood Handbook on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hello, the internet, and welcome to this episode of 28 Translator. Oh, that one courtesy of vanadium silver. The Zeit Temple. 28 Translator, the Zeit Temple. Love a Zite Temple. Love a bone temple.
Starting point is 00:02:58 The best. I'm fucking what it's such a weird premise for a movie but I know they really knocked that one out of the park because it's not a fucking thing like
Starting point is 00:03:09 that just makes like such a superficial idea of a story that normally gets made you're like I and this guy is like kind of living alone and he's making like a temple he's tripping kids out on his home brew
Starting point is 00:03:20 psychedelics I think the premise is let Ray finds cook that's it literally just like literally just just like let this motherfucker cook for an entire film.
Starting point is 00:03:33 Cure that alpha. My name is Jack O'Brien. That over there is Mr. Miles Gray. This is the episode where we tell you what is trending on this Tuesday, September 1st.
Starting point is 00:03:46 It's September. We made it. It's funny to remember how I was saying on this morning's episode I'm like, oh yeah, like summer's over mentally. But like at least in LA, that heat break, that heat.
Starting point is 00:03:58 that heat wave finally broke. On September, like it knew. Like it fucking new. All right. Knock it off. Yeah. Which I respect. I appreciate that move from the heat wave to just be like, all right.
Starting point is 00:04:13 Guys, they've had enough. I'm feeling pretty good about the earth right now. Mm-hmm. You know, it respected that it was September 1st and it knocked off the triple-digit heat wave. It knows the rules. And we're getting rain maybe this week.
Starting point is 00:04:26 We're supposed to get a whole bunch of rain. Okay, let's not go Report. Atmospheric river. Oh, really? I've seen that phrase tossed around a little bit. I've seen that phrase before
Starting point is 00:04:38 in the news certain times of year. Well, there was a supposed hurricane heading towards us or typhoon or whatever the fuck it's called in the Pacific Ocean, but yeah. Anyways, this is L.A. weather talk.
Starting point is 00:04:50 This is the weather report. I'm looking out my window and it's sunny. Oh, I forgot to. I was going to upload this picture because I told you my mom and David Lynch have the same birthday. And like whenever she would interview him, they were like always very friendly. And when I, the other night with the heat wave, when my power went out, I slept at my mom's. And I didn't realize she put up this like tribute to him on her on her refrigerator.
Starting point is 00:05:15 Wow. On her refrigerator. Yeah. That's beautiful. Couple hangs. A couple different hangs with the Lynch man. They're sitting at the booth. Key King.
Starting point is 00:05:25 I mean, God. Shut out, David. shout out my mom. Magically delinchish. All right. What's trending? What's trending? By the way, you shared a picture of the Zite Child last night that was like,
Starting point is 00:05:38 what the fuck was that, man? You can't just shit. We're chatting with Sophie. I know, I've seen how cute he is a person, but it was like just a picture of the Zite child, suck his thumb with a beautiful background. Like, amazing. A nice L.A. sunset in the back.
Starting point is 00:05:58 Just so people know. Miles is like one of those people who's just sharing things that should be on the wall of a museum casually in the chat. That's you honor me. I didn't even think that it was that worthy. But the child does most of the lifting. Yeah. I mean, the child's doing some heavy lifting. Oh, if you want to hear him, if you want to hear him, tune into the latest episode of Ain't It Footy. I was trying to record when he got home from school and was like, Daddy, I want to talk on the, I want to talk to that. He's talking now. Yeah. And you've seen it. I mean, obviously, you know. but anyway the chat mate if you want to hear the guy's child's voice
Starting point is 00:06:31 there's an incentive to subscribe to ain't a footy there you go um all right uh what's happening uh we have an update from yesterday
Starting point is 00:06:40 or this morning we were talking about how uh with Trump changing uh lake Ontario to Lake America yeah it just sucks so bad
Starting point is 00:06:52 like that just as a name Lake America it's such a loser move too like there's nothing you look like a loser when you do it. You can't spin that any other way. Right. Or like, nay, but after a state or something, I don't know, just being like America.
Starting point is 00:07:05 Like, none of them are named Lake Canada. You do, you dip shit. But anyways, he made the change. And Google's Department of Pleasing Air Emperor snapped to it was like, yes, sir, actually, before you even asked us to, we change it. And MapQuest came out and was like, get fucked, we're not going to change it. And MapQuest is now the number one Map app in the App Store. Yep. It's actually, I think it's the number one app. Yeah. Which this morning, it was the number one app.
Starting point is 00:07:41 I did not know it was still out here. I did not know MapQuest was still an option. Yeah. I mean, what a great. Does it give live direction? Like, honestly, the last time I used MapClest was like printing off of a printer. I'm not familiar with MapQuest's game. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:59 Can I open the map and just like have it and use it to navigate? And it's like fun. Oh, hell yeah, MapQuest. It's fun. All right. They got little, you can put little characters in there like ways. Little side quests. It's such low hanging fruit because with like Apple Maps and Google Maps and Google being like,
Starting point is 00:08:15 yeah, man, use our map technology for whatever. I just, I just love that. All it took was these companies just to be like these massive corporations. preparations for like the OG in the corner that was collecting dust in the form of MapQuest. You'd be like, you rang. And all they had to do was say, man, fuck your dumb renaming nonsense. This is MapQuest. And they didn't even need to like take a political position.
Starting point is 00:08:43 They just said, uh, we took the same approach we did with the Gulf of Mexico. Be part of the conversation and give people an app that keeps the names they're familiar with. So all they had to do was be pro familiarity. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. You know? Yeah, be anti-confusion. Yes. And you are here.
Starting point is 00:09:01 I like, yeah, the general manager said hundreds of thousands of people signaled to us this weekend that we got it right by downloading our app. I mean, they must be fucking celebrating. The 10 people at the MapQuest headquarters are just high five at each other. They said it's like they're experiencing like 50 times the normal traffic right now. How are they doing? Are they keeping up? That dude, they're dumping water all over the servers. right now trying to keep them cool literally
Starting point is 00:09:26 yeah just have jugs of water they're like oh these aren't those servers we don't have AI servers um all right I'm using it I can change you can pick a questy which is like a weird little character I'm a I look like I think I'm a night elf ooh yeah Jack
Starting point is 00:09:43 I'm doing pretty good with my new map quest I mean it is it does sound more fun than any of the other options Map quest oh yeah let's go that's great. It's perfect. It's perfect. Let me see. Let me see if the direction's going to the office. Perfect. Great. Love it. Yep. This is all. Who would have thought, Jack, that... I think it's the other thing, too, is they're like,
Starting point is 00:10:09 can it possibly work, like, on the scale of Google or Apple when, like, this technology is now so ubiquitous. It's like... Yeah. Yeah. Everybody has access to the live traffic updates and maps. Yeah. Yep. They're going to have to try this one. Going to have to try this one. I will say, yeah, like live maps and with traffic updates is up there with Shazam for the things on my phone that I'm like, yeah, it's bad. It's ending the world, but I do. I do really appreciate that feature. For someone like me, I need it. Yeah, thank you, MapQuest. Let's talk about Tupac. Yeah. Because we recently re-ran the Tupac iconograph. But his murder. has come to a legal conclusion after 30 years
Starting point is 00:10:58 of you're not going to believe this terrible police work terrible police work absolutely diabolical police work but yeah a jury in Vegas has found Dwayne Keeffi D Davis guilty of the murder
Starting point is 00:11:18 for his role in the drive by shooting murder of Tupac the trial was only two weeks, the prosecutors said that Davis was the quote, on the ground on-site commander of the effort to kill Tupac. And like people who have seen the documentaries and know was revenge plot after there was a fight with Davis's nephew, Orlando Anderson, like in a casino like prior to the shooting. But yeah, a lot of people were like, from the beginning, like, man, there's a lot of people who are telling you they know stuff about it, including the guy.
Starting point is 00:11:55 who shot him. And then he died in a shooting in 1998. So that kind of went cold. And like they just left all these like leads just out there and kind of like, who knows what's going on. So anyway,
Starting point is 00:12:09 fueled many conspiracy theories. Not a top priority for us, guys. For some reason, this famous, renowned, incredible talent. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:20 Or guys, it was a priority, man. We did the best we could do. Yeah, this is as good as it gets. We fucking suck at this shit is the... We're so bad. What the hell?
Starting point is 00:12:31 ...murred murders. Yeah. But Davis, KPD, he first... I mean, just real briefly, that, like that is... We were talking about this with Nancy Guthrie's... With Savannah Guthrie's mom's disappearance and just, you know, this is not a special case. This is not like, wow, this particular police chief is really about it. This is just what you get for the...
Starting point is 00:12:55 the version of policing that we have in this country where it's more expensive than other places, we spend more of our taxpayer dollars, more of our money on it. They are bad at their job because they have no requirements other than, you know, being somebody who... willing to shoot an innocent person.
Starting point is 00:13:16 Who's interested in having a gun at the office. Yeah, it's... I mean, I wonder if like the amount of effort they put into solving a murder is kind of like what you or I would do as a layman and first be like, all right, what movie is this like maybe? Right. Yeah. And then go hard on that
Starting point is 00:13:34 and then be like, we were wet, we should have, you know what, Jack, we should have looked at that blood. This one goes all the way to the top. Oh, wait, sorry, there's a guy who's saying he did the shooting and did his uncle. They're like, no, I bet it was B-I-G. We should ask that guy. He wasn't in town. Fuck.
Starting point is 00:13:51 All right, we're out. Cold. This one's gone cold. this one's gone, Luke. Let's go to the casino. Miles, how do they make the break in the case? What brilliant police work were they able to do? So, I mean, look, this is the thing. We talk a lot of shit about cops and how lazy they are
Starting point is 00:14:08 and they're not actually pursuing leads or anything like that. However, they actually were, they did some brilliant work when Keefe D. Davis, he self-snitched on himself in a memoir, he wrote in 2019. Right. That's how they got him. Quote, this is what he wrote in a book. He just wrote his confession into a publicly available book. These are my confessions.
Starting point is 00:14:29 He said, quote, no words were exchanged. The time for talking had passed. The shit was on. Tupac made an erratic move and began to be a-clamation point. The shit was on. He's enthusiastic about the confession. It was on. It goes even further. Tupac made an erratic move and began to reach down beneath his seat.
Starting point is 00:14:46 It was the first and only time in my life that I could relate to the police command to. Keep your hands where I can see them. Instead, Pock pulled out a strap, and that's when the fireworks started. One of my guys from the backseat grabbed the Glock and just started bust him back. So again, in every, this is from the Guardian, quote, it was Davis's decision to write the book that ultimately led to the trial, prosecutor said. Prosecutor Mark DiJocamo said, quote, had he decided to never write the book, he would not probably have ever even been prosecuted for the crime.
Starting point is 00:15:18 Yes. So that's how they cracked the case, was this guy wrote a book. in 2019 and then completely reopened the investigation after that. That's amazing. Like yes, this is, this is the only way, like, it's also the thing with like the Charlie Kirk shooting
Starting point is 00:15:33 where they were like, we got the guy, folks, don't worry. We got, we got. Fuck, it's the wrong guy. If anybody, like, knows anyone who walks like this, could you call us? And then they just happened to get, like, the person who they have
Starting point is 00:15:49 who they think did it, happened to have a dad who was a cop, I think. Right, or something involved. Yeah, where they were like, this can't stand. Hey, if you happen to see someone who looks like they're walking with a rifle in their pant leg, give us a call. Give us a call. It's 22 because Keefe D's defense, all they had to, all they had is a defense was,
Starting point is 00:16:10 dude, that book, please don't listen to that book, okay? That should not be admitted as evidence. Okay, and it is, that's just him staying stuff for clout, man. Could you read the section immediately after that? And this is not just me saying stuff for clout. I really did that shit for real. Believe that. Believe that. And even if I come up in court and say I didn't, was just saying it for clout, obviously, I really did that shit.
Starting point is 00:16:38 Because you know, I did that shit. Me, Keefe D. D. Dwayne Davis, 63 years old, former Southside Compton Crip gang leader. Yeah, he's, um, so that's done and dusted. Although Aubrey O'Day from Danity Kane, who is featured heavily in that, I don't, I mean, she's definitely part of the Diddy story. I can't remember how much he was in that documentary on Netflix, that 50 cent put out. But she just posted, she's like, see, he goes to show you, even if a guy in the car can be convicted of murder, you can keep going to find accountability for Pock's murder. Like, what about the people that may have financed, coordinated, and arranged this and being like, like, like, like, the hardest winking you've ever seen.
Starting point is 00:17:22 Diddy, Diddy, Diddy, Diddy, Diddy? So she's out here being like, go further now. Ask some more questions. Ask some more questions. Did he? Or didn't you? That is the question. I'm merely saying continue to look.
Starting point is 00:17:39 So we haven't heard anything from Diddy's camp, but that's that chapter of pop culture. Yeah, pop culture history wrapped after 30. years. I think he's a little too rich and a little too unlikely to write a confession into a published memoir to be caught by the Cracker Jack team that they have on this one. Although you never know. Let's take a quick break and we'll be back. Behind every night spent making the kids lunches, there's a lot of suspense. Will they finally eat the veggies? Will the pesto survive the first bite? Will the lunchbox come home empty, half full, or come home at all? And will you finish episode 8?

When I was 14 years old, I was kidnapped and held captive for nine months.
Starting point is 00:18:47 I survived, and I've spent my life exploring how other people survive what should have destroyed them. I'm Elizabeth Smart. And these are the Survivor Files. I just remember this low, taunting voice next to my ear saying, shut up. Don't say anything. Every week, I'm with survivors who live through the unthinkable. I knew if he woke up, without a doubt, he was going to hurt me.
Starting point is 00:19:14 I started feeling that there was someone at the end of my bed, and I just started screaming. They are abducted, stalked, controlled, and nearly safe. silenced. But these aren't stories about what's taken from them. There's stories about what it takes to make it out alive. Listen to the Survivor Files with Elizabeth Smart on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, this is Hayes Davenport. And Sean Clements. We host the podcast Hollywood Handbook on the Big Money Players Network. Our show is extremely accessible to first-time listeners. Each week, we talk to someone in show business, aka the biz, and try to help.
Starting point is 00:19:55 them with their careers and see what they have to offer us. Everyone has a good time and no one gets mad at their publicists for letting them do our show. We've had a lot of great guests like Sarah Sherman, not that great. Actually, can you help me shape this? How about we flip it on his head, right? How about we flip this script? Okay. What is the surprise woman who actually you think is the straight man is actually the one who's acting weird? Adam Scott, This entire time, you've been expecting Adam Sandler to come to visit the show. I would never expect. I have, I would never set expectations for something like that to happen.
Starting point is 00:20:35 If the universe allows for something like that to happen, I'm open to it. I'm always going to accept. You know, Danny McBride, fine. Yeah, it's all this fragile masculinity exuding. I could smell it walking down the hallway, to be honest with you. I was like, is that weed? Nope. It's fragile masculinity.
Starting point is 00:20:55 Mm-hmm. Ben Stiller, no. Because a lot of times, out of context, people don't get it or even know what a circle is. You know what I mean? They're like, oh, what's the state. Everyone's so dumb. And fake. Right, fake and also not interested or just like, oh, I've got my life.
Starting point is 00:21:12 I don't care about your life. And a lot of other big shots that wouldn't be where they are without us. Oh, and by the way, Will Farrell told us personally, He loves the show and he wants to be a guest on every episode, but he's just so busy. Listen to Hollywood Handbook on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. If your bookshelf and your For You page are equally important to your personality, welcome home. This is Prose Society, the weekly podcast that's part book club, part group chat for thought daughters, pop culture obsesives, and anyone who thinks Pride and Prejudice and Love Island deserve the same level of discourse. I'm Eli Rallo and every week we're connecting the dots between books, the internet, and the conversations everyone can't stop having.
Starting point is 00:21:55 I'm going to have to look up this story. I'm obsessed. From bestselling authors and your favorite book talk creators to the latest pop culture moments, nothing is off the table. It's like if you can hide some real messages inside compelling characters, then that is a Trojan horse. Whether you're looking for literary deep dives, smart pop culture conversations, or a community of readers who love to think a little too much, you're in the right place. Listen to Pro Society on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. See you between the pages.
Starting point is 00:22:29 On the new podcast Solita, we share the messy reality of traveling alone as a woman. I can wait four hours for the next bus or this random dude is offering me a ride on his motorcycle. I chose option B. I'm Julie Pinero, and I travel by myself because it's a rare space where I can say, yes without asking anyone else first. I'm on a mission to reclaim the word solita, trading the pity for possibility. Every time I tried to be alone, I kept meeting people and they were like, you smiled at us. Not a lot of people smile around here. It's when you're alone that you're most receptive to the world as it is and not the lies you're sold about it. It can be a time where you push your limits, change your mind, or wake up to a new version of yourself.
Starting point is 00:23:16 So whether you're a solo travel veteran or you're too nervous to book your first trip, I hope you listen to Solita on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. And we're back. We're back. And Miles, it's been a while.
Starting point is 00:23:38 It's been a while since we've had to like come up with a new name. Remember a new name for someone. I think it was speaking of Dave. It was like constantly changing it. but and maybe there I feel like I'm at now that I'm saying that I feel like there's one that I'm I'm forgetting those fairly recent um Snoop lion uh who actually a lot of people don't realize this used to be called Snoop Dogg
Starting point is 00:24:08 Snoop Doggy Dog even Snoop Doggy Dog and and then change it to Snoop Lion as we all know him by yes today uh so we got a new one and and this is big This one's big. This is up there with Kat Stevens becoming Yusuf Islam. Yeah, that's right. Truly. That was a big one. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:29 Or most definitely became Yassine Bay. We are now, according to the bios I've seen, Myelis Cyrus is no more. My favorite. Maya Rudolph being Whitney Houston. Okay. Myelis Cyrus. Myelis Cyrus.
Starting point is 00:24:49 Myelis Cyrus. is no more and we are just going by Miley. End of. That's it. Straight up Miley. No real explanation as to why she would drop her surname. I'm guessing this is just some easy PR to generate interest for an upcoming album because that's what is happening with her. But Miley she's 33 years old now. I'm like damn. You're in your 30s now
Starting point is 00:25:16 Miley? I thought you were just this child earlier with Jay is on your feet. I know somebody else who dropped their last name, dropped the of Nazareth at 33. Really kind of became super iconic at the age of 33. That's a...
Starting point is 00:25:33 So look, I kind of like it. I like just a little cheap heat, you know? It's easy too, because nobody... There's no other Miley either, so yeah, rock on. There is not. And also, I like it because it's going to piss off Billy Ray Cyrus.
Starting point is 00:25:49 And for so... for some, like, doing these icon episodes, the fact that he's the only person who, like, has a simmering beef with Weird Al Yankovic. Everybody else is just like, yeah, man, I was, like, honored to have him do a parody of my song. But I think he has, like, kind of not the best reputation. Like, people seem to think he's a bit of an asshole.
Starting point is 00:26:14 He also was mad at David Lynch, speaking of David Lynch. for ruining his life and inviting Satan into his world by putting him in one of the best movies of the 21st century. Mulholland Drive. He was like, if that hadn't happened, I never moved to Hollywood. Maya Lysairus never has a entertainment career and she's not smoking weed on the internet. David Lynch was a vehicle for Satan. So, I mean, dropping the Cyrus has to hurt him a little bit.
Starting point is 00:26:55 Yeah, got to. It would be my guess. I got to say that. I'm not sure if you realized this, but everything that happens in the world is actually about Billy Ray Cyrus. Everything. Even the Iran war. Even the Iran war was actually focused on Billy Ray Cyrus.
Starting point is 00:27:10 I just want to find this one clip because the way Maya Rudolph hits, Myelis Cyrus is seared in my fucking brain. The voice is back, Maya Li Cyrus. The voice is back, Myelis Cyrus. Wow.
Starting point is 00:27:26 He says it's so many. Fucking Miley Cyrus. Anyway. One of the great. Do your thing, Miley. I just, yeah,
Starting point is 00:27:35 the album, there was like an interview she did with like Daryl Hannah I was reading and she was like, it's like just transforming right now. It's like a new person. This is just like a new era. She has that pop gene, that idle gene, that icon gene of like always transforming and
Starting point is 00:27:54 becoming something new. Always knowing a new genre or culture to appropriate to stay. Metamorphosis. You know what I mean? She's like, let me try blackness on. What about blackness? Do people like that? Oh, J's on my feet.
Starting point is 00:28:07 God. I don't know any more. All right. We got to talk. There's a new reality show coming out of the Trump administration. Yeah. I feel like we missed the video. The Kelly Leffler video?
Starting point is 00:28:23 Kelly Leffler. I think it was when I was out that week. Yeah. And I like didn't really, you know me, I'm not, I need you to keep me aware of like who the, who the fuck these people are. The got, the creatures on the periphery of the administration. Of the Trump administration. But there's this video that looks like there's been a. couple of these where like it's like is that an animatronic like what is operating what who is puppeting this person's body yep um there there's this video of the sba head kelly leffler
Starting point is 00:28:55 walking around the offices looking like she what is she like it she's moving like an alien the the the the that main blonde alien and mars attacks right just wearing the red dress that just kind of glides on the ground but Then also, like, she doesn't know how, like, she just entered this body that she's got baby giraffe, newborn baby giraffe legs for sure. She's also very tall. And it's funny because she's like towering over this one dude and like the beginning of this video where she's holding, I mind you, many have pointed out, an empty binder to make it look like she's working. I'll play a little bit so you can kind of hear what her overall, you know, just super energy is like. The vibe.
Starting point is 00:29:41 I think so. Administrator, we have some questions for you here at TikTok. What's going on, Mac? What's going on, Matt? Are you in the cabinet? Well, actually, I am. After I had an incredible conversation with the president by phone to become SBA administrator, he texted me and said, actually, you're going to be in the cabinet.
Starting point is 00:29:58 I wonder if she has a problem walking and talking. Like, she's having to divert all of the energy. That's what it's giving now that you mention it. It's that she has not walked and talked before. And so she's like trying to, she has these aligns. learned. They've written a script that is meant to sound off the cuff and conversational
Starting point is 00:30:18 and she looks like she's on the verge of tipping over. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like where she stole the legs she's using or something. She's like, sorry, man, I just boosted these things. I'm still getting used to them, man. But anyway, so she... This appears to be like take 10, by the way, this video.
Starting point is 00:30:36 Yeah. You probably remember her when she was a senator from Georgia for a little bit. I think one of the wealthiest members of Senate to this day, I think holds that record. To this day. To this day. Anyway, so the latest news out of the Small Business Administration is that they're gearing up for a Shark Tank style reality show where American small business owners pitch a group of total fucking idiots for a chance at a big cash prize. I hope that's how it's describing the intro. These American small business owners will pitch a group of judges.
Starting point is 00:31:13 Little do they know. Each and every judge is a total fucking idiot. Who knows fuck all about anything. So first up, you got the fucking pop Barbie herself, Mickey Menach, wow. Out here as guest,
Starting point is 00:31:28 or guest judge number one. Then we have Airbnb founder and local xenophob joe Joe Jabea as judge number two. And finally, a famous crypto grifter guy who's multiple fraud accusations, Grant Cardone, you may have seen Vita, this guy is just like one of these like Wheeler dealer characters on the internet who's always like, this is the problem, man. You need to get more clients, man. This is the investment opportunity. You can't turn down, man.
Starting point is 00:31:58 You need to take my class, brother. And also, if you work at my company, you need to take a company mandated training, an Elron Hubbard training that I won't explicitly say. is Scientology. He's a Scientologist, and he makes... He's been sued by employees who are like, dude, what the fuck is this, man? I had to do a whole ass Scientology training to work at this guy's weird crypto real estate fund. And he doesn't, yeah, you got Nicky Minot,
Starting point is 00:32:26 like, you got two people who have pretty good reasons for being, like the reasons being that they're the best that the administration could get. And then this dude, who is just a scammer. artist. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Allegedly. He's very litigious. He's like, he got an argument with like the former head of T-Mobile and the guy was like, you're a fucking scumbag con artist. He's just like, I'm fucking suing you for $100 million. And then like settled privately out of court. Um, but anyway, yeah, let's not forget that the head of, um, uh, Airbnb also loves to deal with fucking blatantly racist. Uh, he's a big Islamophope. Um, so anyway, yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:08 Everyone's perfect for this show. And you're like, well, who's going to be the dynamic host? Well, guess what? None other than aspiring ice goon, Dean Kane. Famous for his business mind, for his sharp business mind. Exactly. Dean. He's kind of Asian, isn't he?
Starting point is 00:33:29 So that maybe he's good with numbers. I heard he's kind of Japanese. And he is. It's a shame, too. He heard he's kind of Japanese. He heard he's kind of Japanese. But yeah, again, this is at a time where the administration could actually help small businesses. If you hear, if you listen to the faint screams of small business owners, many are talking about the high costs of materials, how the tariffs have caused prices of goods to go up and they still have no relief.
Starting point is 00:33:58 But again, you got to go just to their time on and instinct, which is just to be like, all right, let's just give another department its own distraction based reality show. Right. Because they had the travel secretary or what who's the secretary who did the travel show? Yes, yeah, Sean Duffy, Sean Duffy. Yeah, Sean Daufe. Yeah, as the head of Department of Transportation, he had his little road trip show put out. And now Health and Human HHS has one with the RFK. Let's cook some food that isn't real show. Right, right, right.
Starting point is 00:34:32 And now the SBA has their own show. I can't wait for the Department of Wars upcoming show. Cutest little soldier to see how that goes. You've heard of American Idol, but how about American Psycho, where we find the craziest soldier. The craziest fucking guys in America. And then make them senators. That's right. All right.
Starting point is 00:34:56 And finally, we got two 9-11-based freakouts happening on the right. Oh, good. Not counting Lake America, the dumbest. moment in the current U.S. Canada feud is probably the recent controversy involving the CBC in 9-11. Fox News reported that the Canadian broadcaster, CBC, was telling his journalist not to refer to the 9-11 attacks as terrorist attacks, which is like an internal memo they sent out because they have never referred to any attacks or any, like, no attacks are ever called terrorist attacks or where no people are ever called terrorists
Starting point is 00:35:33 because that is a subjective term. So they just always have it attributed. You know, it's never in their headlines that it's being called a terror attack. I had no idea. They were, they were actually doing that kind of level-headed shit
Starting point is 00:35:48 where they're like, I mean, obviously, terrorism is one person's terrorism. It's one person's liberation movement. They were like, it's the same way that we don't call anyone freedom fighters in our headlines, you know? Sure, sure.
Starting point is 00:36:02 Different. But that's a subjective term. And the BBC also does this. It's kind of Reuters, I think. When Reuters literally prescribed the use of the word terrorists in their 9-11 coverage in 2001. So it's not that abnormal. The CBC has backed down and they announced that they will adjust their policy for 9-11, presumably just because so many people got mad at them.
Starting point is 00:36:29 they said we've decided to adjust it to clarify direct attribution is not required for describing the historic events of 9-11 as terrorism. I mean, it is like that that's kind of, we all know that that's what it was. Like, it was a terrorist attack. I feel like the people who were doing it would be like, hell yeah, that's kind of what it was. But it is interesting. Like, the reason they have to be so careful and specific is because of the, the Republican Party that is freaking out about this because they have spent the last 25 years calling anyone who opposes them terrorists.
Starting point is 00:37:11 So that's why they have to be like, yeah, well, according to this person. You'd hate to hear how the American military is viewed abroad. Certainly not as terrorists either. I know. Yeah, yeah. You guys actually might want people to be careful with that designation based on how the U.S. military is viewed. And then there's also the CBS headline that we're learning today, Bari Weiss specifically orchestrated. It says, as the nation prepares to mark 25 years since
Starting point is 00:37:44 September 11th, 2001, Abdul El-Said, the Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate in Michigan, may be facing the risk of renewed scrutiny and fresh political attack. people are like, wait, what, that doesn't, what are you talking about? Whoa, what do you mean here? He's Muslim and the article is all about tweets that he deleted, but the tweets are like him saying COVID was killing more people than 9-11 and that he wanted America to fight for public health the way they fought for the war on terror. So it was just all things kind of pointing to.
Starting point is 00:38:21 He's still on the side of imperialism. So I don't know what's the problem there. He's like, yeah, man, we should be fighting the fucking, this as hard as we fought terror. Yeah. And yeah, it just seems not controversial, but Barry Wyss is digging. She's like, I mean, come on, we got a big, got a big 25th anniversary coming up. We could use this. We could use this, guys.
Starting point is 00:38:44 Wow. I mean, I don't know if you, Jay-D. Vance was at a rally today. And the way he's talking about 9-11 is also kind of like, he's like, yeah, man, hey, 25 years, huh? 9-11, we're about to celebrate the 25th year, or commemorate the 25th year. Celebrate. What country are you in, J-D? ...who made it, frankly, as terrible as it was, it could have been so much worse. We're about to celebrate those heroes and commemorate those that we lost.
Starting point is 00:39:12 But to celebrate, uh, commemorate. Hey, man, what are you doing for your barbecue? What are you doing for your 9-11 barbecue? Hell yeah, really? But... It's going to be on a Friday. Yeah, I mean, also... 16 at the time,
Starting point is 00:39:25 Abdul al-Sayyad, uh, and his, his tweets were suggesting like, you know, we're fairly critical of the war that came after and, uh, you know,
Starting point is 00:39:36 mourned those who died and yeah, whatever. Such a distraction to even say this is a thing. You know what I mean? Like, his opponent voted to authorize the war. Yeah, of course.
Starting point is 00:39:45 So it seems like that might be more relevant to be like, this guy, we all know that was a disaster. Right. Maybe, maybe we should be pointing that out. Yeah, I mean, all this is an obsession. Medi Hassan put a piece out on The Guardian today that was basically like, dude,
Starting point is 00:39:59 all this emphasis on El Saeed and like Hassan Piker just is giving just Mike Rogers a total pass just with this. Everyone's just paying attention to this. And also just too, like the Democrats are self-owning by not forcefully pushing it back too. Like it's- Jesus Christ. I mean, this is kind of the thing in the prediction of like, Democrats will have the opportunity to take back power and fuck it up. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:24 We'll do whatever they can. It's creeping up. It's creeping up. It does seem like it's equally important to them to defeat Republicans and to make sure that there's not a left wing movement in their party. Right. It seems to be the priority 1A and 1B for them. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:44 Which is crazy. Yep. All right. Those are some of the things that are trending on this Tuesday, September 1st. We are back tomorrow with a whole last episode of the show. Until then. Be kind to each other. Be kind to yourselves. Get your vaccines.
