Starting point is 00:02:01 Hello, the internet, and welcome to this episode of arma trending oh uh because it's avageddon today um we'll talk about that in a moment i am jack that is miles yes and um you know it's it's an arma trending for somebody's political career over the yikes you know what i mean miles if You get what I'm saying? Wow. 444. Liz Truss. Out.
Starting point is 00:02:28 Stepping down. Saying, yo, sorry about that. Sorry about the pound, y'all. Sorry about the conservative party, y'all. All right, I'm going to head on out. So she came into office after Boris. After Boris was like, I will not resign no matter how many scandals you throw at me very trump-esque very every american president-esque you know like except for nixon
Starting point is 00:02:54 they they tend to stand their ground and she came in and in 44 days you know the the economy was tanking the queen died she killed the queen yeah she tanked the pound the pound was was in a bad place we don't we don't know necessarily that it was her fault but she caught the l yeah well i mean also it's like hey man tax cuts for the wealthy wait what happened with people's mortgage payments exploding like it it was, yo, I don't know. It was quite a tour de force as a leader. So yeah, I don't know. I mean, again, I just keep thinking of like, wow,
Starting point is 00:03:33 I just like that, you know, there you can actually be absolutely shamed into fucking off from office. In America, it's from my cold dead hands. You will pry this fucking seat from me. So now people are like, Boris again, I guess? I don't know. Which is kind of wild.
Starting point is 00:03:52 Because there's a chance that this is all economic factors and things that the party was planning to do. And he was like, oh, this is going to look real bad. And just bounced for 44 44 days took a vacation yeah and then pop yeah i missed me back in um but anyways uh r.i.p to liz her career political career and her book too well we'll talk about that tomorrow yeah we'll talk a little bit about the least anticipated book in uh of the holiday season. Netflix is trending. Yep. Which I feel
Starting point is 00:04:28 like it always is. I know, but they're about to start the call, the great reckoning of the people sharing the passwords. It is happening. They're saying, starting next year, they will begin the crackdown. And they're saying, if you borrow an account,
Starting point is 00:04:44 they'll say, hey, you can transfer all the shit, like all the fucking data. And they're saying, they're like, if you borrow an account, they'll say, hey, you can transfer all the shit, like all the, you know, fucking data. You fed this little profile into your own account. How about that?
Starting point is 00:04:53 Or we can make a sub account. So they're just going to offer more ways for you to pay. But yeah, they said, we've quote, we've landed on a thoughtful approach
Starting point is 00:05:00 to monetize account sharing and we'll begin rolling this out more broadly starting in early 2023. After listening to consumer feedback, we're going to offer the ability for borrowers to transfer their profile into their own account and for sharers to manage their devices more easily and to create sub accounts. And it'll probably be a good, I'm sure they've completely staffed up their customer service team to deal with all the problems that are inevitably going to be caused when you undertake such a massive technological
Starting point is 00:05:28 shift where you're trying to shift millions and millions of people onto their own accounts. I'm sure they're fully well staffed up because they are a technology company. Technology companies always staff all the way up.
Starting point is 00:05:44 Staff themselves with the gills ahead of everything rather than just waiting for everything to fuck up and people's lives to become miserable and then be like um so we are not really staffed to determine if a piece of information is leading to genocide sorry about that sorry we didn't know what was going on there i mean i feel like maybe it helps if we changed our name um yeah so netflix also like the dommer show is you know so such a massive success which i did not see coming that i feel like we're gonna be getting just grimy ass like crime shit from them going forward and just like right horrifying stuff that is like disturbing and people will complain about and they'll be like yep but look at those numbers baby um what's
Starting point is 00:06:41 interesting though too is like in like forbes they're now like casting aspersions on netflix like is their fucking subscriber sharing problem even bigger than they're telling us because like they got to represent the investor class like are they is this really the extent of the damage of the striminals out there but whatever don't care just i. I also, in my, uh, the close attention I pay to financial news, AKA like, uh, alerts that pop up on my Apple news app. Like the yesterday I did see a take that was like Netflix,
Starting point is 00:07:16 happy days here again. So, you know, there, they had their stories prepped to go. So I'm guessing there's a backlash to, to that story already. I'll tell you something. There's not guessing there's a backlash to to that story already tell you something there's not going to be a backlash to happy meal pale oh my god you remember these
Starting point is 00:07:31 jack brings the fucking ass so in 1986 come along children as geriatric millennials regale you with tales of yesteryear the year was 1986 and there were these injection molded plastic buckets that came with a happy meal and you could get mcboo mcpunkin or mcgoblin uh and these are just like the orange green and white pails that had like a ghost or a jack-o'-lantern printed on it that i absolutely used to trick or treat as a kid, I think we had like three of these in our garage until like three years ago. Like, yeah, they were just iconic.
Starting point is 00:08:12 They became multipurpose pails. Uh, and I guess they, they stopped. I think the last time they were available was in 2016. But again, cause nostalgia rules, everything they're like,
Starting point is 00:08:20 Hey man, Hey, you fucking creeps. We saw that you went wild for the Pharrell happy meal. and people are buying that shit for like way too much money on ebay how about get your old pale you geriatric millennial works on my ass i mean the thing is i'm not going to go and get that but seeing it i've it's it's not often you can see something that you like an image of something that you have not thought of in decades. And then it like all comes rushing back.
Starting point is 00:08:47 Yeah. I love that feeling. This was, I think like a crayon pail, like in my house at a certain point. Oh yeah. I had Legos in mine. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:55 It was, it's just, it was, they, they were given out this big kind of useful multi-purpose bucket and it's a good, it's a good looking piece of hardware tell you what you know what's funny though stan mcdonald's but i was just i remember how my
Starting point is 00:09:12 parents were trying to limit me by having me trick or treat with that bucket because i could fill that fucker quick right you know what i mean and then like kind of the rules like hey you know once you fill it up like we can start heading back home and i remember i did it two years in a row the second year i was like wait a second i'm limiting my fucking like like the amount i can collect with this bucket and that's when i switched to pillowcase and it was a fucking wrap move yeah pillowcase is undefeated as a halloween candy collector let us know if you if you a different experience, if you have a better option for Halloween candy collection. Yeah, absolutely. All right, let's take a quick break.
Starting point is 00:09:51 We'll come right back. I'm Jess Casavetto, executive producer of the hit Netflix documentary series, Dancing for the Devil, the 7M TikTok cult. And I'm Clea Gray, former member of 7M Films and Shekinah Church. And we're the host of the new podcast, Forgive Me For I Have Followed. Together, we'll be diving even deeper into the unbelievable stories behind 7M Films and LA-based Shekinah Church, an alleged cult that has impacted members for over two decades.
Starting point is 00:10:22 Jessica and I will delve into the hidden truths between high control groups and interview dancers, church members, and others whose lives and careers have been impacted, just like mine. Through powerful, in-depth interviews with former members and new, chilling firsthand accounts, the series will illuminate untold and extremely necessary perspectives.
Starting point is 00:10:41 Forgive Me For I Have Followed will be more than an exploration. It's a vital revelation aimed at ensuring these types of abuses never happen again. Listen to Forgive Me for I Have Followed on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, I'm Gianna Pradente. And I'm Jemay Jackson-Gadsden. We're the hosts of Let's Talk Offline, a new podcast from LinkedIn News and iHeart Podcasts. When you're just starting out in your career, you have a lot of questions. Like, how do I speak up when I'm feeling overwhelmed?
Starting point is 00:11:13 Or, can I negotiate a higher salary if this is my first real job? Girl, yes. Each week, we answer your unfiltered work questions. Think of us as your work besties you can turn to for advice. And if we don't know the answer, we bring in experts who do, like resume specialist Morgan Santer. The only difference between the person who doesn't get the job and the person who gets the job is usually who applies. Yeah, I think a lot about that quote. What is it like you miss 100% of the shots you never take? Yeah, rejection is scary, but it's better than you
Starting point is 00:11:44 rejecting yourself. Together, we'll share what it really takes to thrive in the early years of your career without sacrificing your sanity or sleep. Listen to Let's Talk Offline on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. When you think of Mexican culture, you think of avocado, mariachi, delicious cuisine, and of course, lucha libre. It doesn't get more Mexican than this. Lucha libre is known globally because it is much more than just a sport and much more than just entertainment. Lucha libre is a type of storytelling. It's a dance.
Starting point is 00:12:19 It's tradition. It's culture. This is Lucha Libre Behind the Mask, a 12-episode podcast in both English and Spanish about the history and cultural richness of Lucha Libre. And I'm your host, Santos Escobar, the emperor of Lucha Libre and a WWE superstar. Santos! Santos! Join me as we learn more about the history behind this spectacular sport from its inception in the United States
Starting point is 00:12:43 to how it became a global symbol of Mexican culture. We'll learn more about some of the most iconic heroes in the ring. This is Lucha Libre Behind the Mask. Listen to Lucha Libre Behind the Mask as part of My Cultura Podcast Network on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you stream podcasts.
Starting point is 00:13:01 In 1982, Atari players had one thing on their minds. Sword Quest. This wasn't just a new game. Atari promised $150,000 in prizes to four finalists. But the prizes disappeared. And what started as a video game promotion became one of the most controversial moments in 80s pop culture. I just don't believe they exist.
Starting point is 00:13:26 That would be my reaction, shock and awe. That sword was amazing. It was so beautiful. I'm Jamie Loftus. Join me this spring for The Legend of Sword Quest, a podcast about the fall of Atari and the disappearing Sword Quest prizes. We'll follow the quest for lost treasure across four decades.
Starting point is 00:13:43 It's almost like a metaphor for the industry and Atari itself in a way. Listen to The Legend of Sword Quest on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. And we're back. And Creed 3 is trending because the the trailer is out how's it looking it looks good i mean the trailers never uh miss on the creed movies and the rocky movies at least for me but this one looks good it seems like they are i guess the second one was more of a nod to Rocky IV, right? Him fighting Drago's kid.
Starting point is 00:14:30 Wasn't that the move in Creed II? Didn't he fight... I loved the trailer and I was like, I think I'm good with just the trailer. So I never watched Creed II. But I think there was some Drago involvement. Yeah, yeah. Because he was fighting Victor Drago.
Starting point is 00:14:46 Victor Drago. But so this one seems like it's doing the Rocky 3, Creed 3 matchup because it seems like it's kind of... So if you'll remember, Rocky 3 is... Yes, we all will. Rocky is on top of the world, driving sports cars, fighting a bunch of people, America's favorite athlete, cover of Sports Illustrated, fancy cars, fancy jewelry. And then he's fighting like a young, hungry Clubber Lang played by Mr. T. And there is like some class stuff in there.
Starting point is 00:15:21 And it seems like that is what they're going with for Creed 3. And I'm excited and i i can only hope that there is a homoerotic beach scene because that is the most memorable part of rocky 3 oh who and him who's a rocky who it was apollo and rocky training so that rocky 3 is also like super racist and weird like where you know he's like I gotta go train in LA with Apollo to like learn how to fight a black man get my grit back yeah essentially wow
Starting point is 00:15:53 Apollo like is like teaching him to dance and they have like a montage and shit yeah oh yeah yeah yeah just like you gotta get rhythm rock and then come on man a problem. Exactly. But they also have an LA beach scene
Starting point is 00:16:10 where they're racing each other. And the first time Rocky's running in the race, it appears that he's never run before. Oh. His body's not used to the act of running. He's not a runner. And then in the last one, he beats him in extreme slow motion, but it again looks like he doesn't know how to run.
Starting point is 00:16:32 But they're so happy that he's won, that he's fast enough to fight now, that they then run into the waves in the ocean and start hugging each other and splashing each other. And it is the climax of the ocean and start hugging each other and splashing each other. It is the climax of the training montage. It's just very strange movie. One of my favorites. I love a montage scene
Starting point is 00:16:53 where anybody learns how to dance. Pillars of Creation is trending. The fucking James Webb telescope has done it again by taking a picture of the pillars of creation. They call this a star nursery. Now, these are two images that I'm showing Jack. We're looking at these images.
Starting point is 00:17:15 So on the left, there's an old picture from 1995 that the Hubble telescope took of the pillars of creation. On the right, we have the updated James Webb telescope version with all the near and mid infrared light. I didn't understand that this was called a star nursery, but it looks like, yeah, man, this is where stars go to be born. It looks like pollution to me
Starting point is 00:17:38 more so. The last time, it looked like clouds, and this time, the cloudiness of it is more detailed and it just looks like brown and crusty a little bit um okay so uh it's a skip for me this picture got it got it got it i mean like these edges where you see like the red shining through all this to say is we know fuck all about our fucking universe yeah it's It's amazing. And the stars in the background, you can like start to sense that there are literally trillions of stars like
Starting point is 00:18:11 out there. Um, I, it's, it's mind boggling. Um, yeah, you can see the,
Starting point is 00:18:18 the tips of these pillars of creation like are glowing red. Like they're, they've got magma inside. It's just absurd. it is truly like my my brain to mouth connection stops working when i look at it it's very it's very cool and makes me feel very small and that's not not the worst thing in the world yeah i mean when you know after that rough start to the nba season i will look at this picture and be like you know that's what it's that's what that's what it's really all about.
Starting point is 00:18:47 The Pillars of Creation have not heard of Russell Westbrook. Thank you, Pillars. Yeah. And then, of course, I mean, this is all table setting because the real story that everyone's paying attention to is Avageddon. Avageddon. Avageddon. It's coming.
Starting point is 00:19:07 They apparently they're experiencing an intense fucking surplus of avocados in the city of brotherly love. I know other places people are like fighting over ripe avocados but apparently Philly
Starting point is 00:19:24 has so many avocados that they have an event called avageddon and you can't if you're in philly or you just want you're passing through you can get free avocados the whole thing is avageddon free avocados for everyone in philadelphia you go to fdr park on pattison ave and South 20th Street between Wednesday and Friday and fucking pick up your free avocados. That's where they're at. It's wild that you even hear about like, we have too much food, especially in this country
Starting point is 00:19:53 because they're like, don't give excess away to the people that are in need. But I guess avocado is just too much. Yeah. Supply chain issues. You know? Yeah. You don't hear about the good parts of supply chain issues. I do think that they may be... I would have
Starting point is 00:20:09 rethought the just we're giving it away in a park feels weird. Like can you trust them? Yeah. Yeah. Maybe just partner with your local grocery stores. Like food co-ops.
Starting point is 00:20:25 The group that I think is behind this is they're like your local grocery stores, like food co-ops, you know? Yeah, well, the group that I think is behind this is they're like, it's called Sharing Excess, and they're like a nonprofit where they're like, we like to find extra food from grocery stores and give them to the needy. But I guess apparently they're like, damn, all y'all got is avocados right now.
Starting point is 00:20:42 All right. Just get excess food from grocery stores. Make a big pile in the park. And then everybody just scrambles to get whatever they can fit in the garbage bag. We do time it. There are people on the sidelines squirting them with squirt guns to keep it fun. Yeah. Avageddon, that name suggests that there's going to be something wacky
Starting point is 00:21:06 coming along with it they say that i don't know that people people came through there's like 2 000 pounds and their and their whole thing is like motherfucker if you want them take as many as you fucking want so people are pulling the fuck up so get that free avocado but yeah it's just so funny too that like the group the non-profit group was like we had so many like this was the only way to get rid of all of them while they were still good to eat so yeah i mean it is it's like avocados and bananas are the are the two foods that this makes sense for that you have to like eat them in a feeding frenzy because otherwise they're just not going to be ripe in like four days exactly so yeah yeah and then according to the takeout they're saying just so you know
Starting point is 00:21:48 take 60 avocados for a batch of chipotle guacamole i guess i didn't realize they put that many avocados in it what if it's just chipotle they're just backing up a truck that would honestly that would be some american fucking yeah corporate shit where there's a fucking free avocado giveaway for like normal people. And then the Chipotle vans will be like, yeah, man, we'll take all of it right now, actually. We'll take that off your hands. Appreciate you. And we're not giving away free guac. Don't get us fucked up.
Starting point is 00:22:18 All right. Well, those are some of the things that are trending on this Thursday, October 20th. We are back tomorrow with the whole last episode of the show. Go check out the new podcast, A Tradition of Violence, about L.A. Sheriff's Department gangs from Cerise Castle, former guest. It is out. It's mind-blowing. Go check it out.
Starting point is 00:22:41 And, yeah, back tomorrow. Until then, be kind to each other. Be kind to yourselves. Get the vaccine. Don't do nothing about white supremacy. And we will talk to you back tomorrow. Until then, be kind to each other. Be kind to yourselves. Get the vaccine. Don't do nothing about white supremacy. And we will talk to you all tomorrow. Bye. Bye.
