So some things that are trending on this Friday afternoon, Lance Reddick, actor from The Wire, John Wick, apparently a very accomplished musician, was found dead this morning. R.I.P. Yeah, R.I.P. Man, he's so great in The Wire.

Just one of the best wearers of a suit that I've ever witnessed. Sophistication is what comes to mind when you think of this guy. He's so good. Very prestigious posturing that he had. Posture, man. Yeah, it was impeccable and uh i loved his role

in john wick he's got such quiet intensity that's my favorite uh two descriptive words of an actor just a quiet intensity he personifies that yeah so uh very sad to see him go uh but a lot of nice words pouring in for him and you know he held it down he was like one of the great character actors who you know you you recognize anywhere and you're like hell yeah that guy i have to be honest that like i don't think i knew his name was lance reddick because when someone was like oh no lance reddick passed away i thought they were like talking about an x games athlete or something. Cause that name just for whatever reason,

that's how it hit my brain. It sounds like he fucking shreds, man. Who are we to say that he didn't powder? Yeah. You know, he could have been putting that NAR down, you know?

Yeah. Well, speaking of putting the NAR down, uh, Gwyneth Paltrow, uh, queen, uh,

no, she, so yeah. Uh, ice queen. Not my queen. Yeah. Ice queen. So she was in a video podcast where she was being interviewed about her day-to-day diet.

There is some controversy as to whether she was properly framing it as a specialized diet. But the diet is just like, so I have a nice coffee in the morning so that my blood sugar doesn't spike. And then, ooh, I like to just indulge in a nice bone broth for lunch.

And I can take a whiff of a cherry skin so I can get that little hint of flavor. In the evening, I do a nice intermittent fast that is what so like it sounds it all sounds like fasting to me first of all um the way she just the way she pronounces intermittent fast sounds to me like the way i would talk about a hamburger that i particularly like but she's just like oh yeah nice juicy intermittent fast and i really like dig into that um and then it's like all assorted vegetables for dinner type thing yeah and she's doing this while looking like very emaciated and so a lot

of people came through and were like look she was part of the you know generation that made it very fashionable in the early 2000s to just have an eating disorder, essentially, just to be emaciated. Kate Moss-ified, yeah. Yeah. she claims that this is a specialized diet because her and her doctor have been working together to get her long COVID symptoms under control. And I may have been able to buy this except for I just can't. Like it's, it's the fact that, I mean, super producer Becca pointed out before we started this, that all of these products she's listing are essentially like on her website that she's aware of how much power she has. And I'm really sick and tired of celebrities playing coy with how much influence they have. And I know that living this life every day, you might forget a time or two, like you, you mentioned a word and you're

not expecting a huge, you know, think piece to be written about it but you know how closely tied your brand is to a quote unquote health lifestyle that you're trying to promote and this is not healthy by anyone's measure i can't imagine a doctor approved this and then wanted you to co-sign this on air like if they did they are unscrupulous like i i just don't know if i mean especially with the fact that she has consistent meetups with fans who are legitimately sick of fans they're not just like oh okay this person's an expert in in dietary needs and that she's giving me information that's useful it's they're like oh when it's did it i'm i'm bet let's go big personality yeah i mean she has a lifestyle brand that sells like bone broth and yes you know a lot of the things that contribute to the

sort of lifestyle that she's talking about and yeah so the person who kind of got the attention attention started on this is uh i put the i am an american on tiktok uh she she said uh y2k was a horror show of who could starve themselves in the most expensive ways um and that that was real man like there's there's a real period where like every famous person seemed to be trying to look like they hadn't eaten in days and they just crawled their way out of a fucking grave yeah and it does feel like that's coming back like it feels like that is i don't know there there's all like a shot that people take that just suppresses their appetite and a lot of people are talking about like various celebrities who may or may not be taking that. And then there's, you know, these IV companies who are like, well, we'll give you access to IV delivered nutrition while you starve yourself. And yeah, again, just like competition to starve yourself in the most expensive way.

Yeah. Not healthy. Food is great. Let yourself live. Get that body mass index up, bro. You don't need to be starving out here in these streets. Just be comfortable. Yeah.

So, anyways. Murdog. Murdog. Murdog? Murdog. The Murdog. The Murdog down in South Carolina are trending because they are apparently going to exhume the body of the young person. Stephen Smith.

Yeah, Stephen Smith, who was found dead on a road near their property. Like, basically, when you read the New Yorker article about this, it's like where he was found is like really only close to their property. There's not much else out there. So it was very strange that he was found there. And the initial report was that he got hit by the rearview window of a truck driving by. And that's but then other people were like, that really didn't seem like that's what happened to this person. But then other people were like, that really didn't seem like that's what happened to this person. And so now that that part of the country exists in a world where it's not like a weird serfdom,

where these people determine what gets to be counted as reality, they're going to exhume the body and reexamine to see if he was, in fact, murdered. Because that is rumor that has flown for a long time and in that town is that he was killed for knowing something about that family so i don't know we'll keep our eye on this one but it does seem like a good thing yeah this this story is far from over i think um because there are just various bodies tied to this family and yeah i did watch the netflix documentary um i'm not sure how ethical some of the conjecture was because this young man who was killed stephen smith uh he identified as gay and there's some conjecture that one of the sons may have the surviving son may have had some kind of,

I'm not sure about any of that. Yeah, that's just all headline making stuff. But I am hopeful that this family gets the justice they were hoping for. Because the rumor, as someone who spent too much time in a small town, I claim Chicago all day because I love Chicago and I had a horrible time in a small town I had to move to. Near Chicago. Yes, near Chicago. And the rumor mills

that happened, the underbelly of just like, oh, you don't mess with this person or you don't do that. I had a cop who was one of the highest paid cops in the state who was my next door neighbor. And he frequently used his power and influence to cops in the state who was my next door neighbor and he frequently used his power and influence to intimidate the children who would make fun of his son and like that's the kind of mentality i grew up with and these murdoch people just really like remind me too much and it's gross i need to get away from it so i hope i hope justice comes for this family yeah me too um also, apparently the Murdochs were the cool parents where the kids could drink at their house.

And hopefully that's not anyone listening to this, but if it is, that's actually not cool, even though I benefited from knowing parents like that. Yeah, benefit can change with perspective and time because i thought i was i thought i was having a great time and it turns out i that those yeah i guess i was making i took advantage of i didn't benefit yes yeah yeah for sure and how could you not it's shangri-la when you're a teenager but that's not you can't you can't do that dark um all right All right, let's take a quick break. This most recent Shazam, the reviews are bad, which sometimes the lead actor in that just seems like a real piece of shit. I guess he plays Shazam. Not cool. I forget exactly what his takes were, but they were... Something about vaccinations or something. It wasn't important enough to remember. How did Mirren do?

How was my girl? That's the thing to ask. I have no idea. I have no interest in watching this sequel. Yeah, me neither. John Wick 4 reviews are like on Metacritic, which gives you the numerical

value, it's got the best reviews in the history of the franchise. Oh, wow. I'm pretty sure that's right. It's got a 78 meta score, which is pretty wild.

I'm a big fan of Keanu Reeves. I love almost anything he does, even if it's mediocre. So I'm all here for this. Yeah. All right. So it's a 77. John Wick 3 was at 73. John Wick 2, 75. And the original John Wick was like 68. What? uh john wick 275 and the original john wick was like 68 so i don't i don't know that that necessarily represents the truth about these movies it might just be like film critics getting on board with the john john wick wave but at the same time it's still promising that at least it's doing what you come to a john wick movie for. Yeah. It is St. Patrick's day. So, you know, a lot of websites putting out their,

their bouncer stories. They're, I bartended on St. Patrick's day. Uh, and this is what I saw stories. Yeah. I, I have a story to share myself.

I was a restaurant worker on St. Patrick's day, right next to the river when they died at green. Yeah. God awful. Yeah. Not, you want next to the river when they died at Green. Yeah. God awful. Yeah. You want me to get into it? Yeah. Hit us with it. It's the same article as last time. The Takeout just like republished

their article, but I still like it. I do just want to honor this bartender's description. A man who kept screaming every time he took a shot, got into a fight with his girlfriend, made her cry, then got into a screaming match with his bros, then reached behind our bar and stole one of our water pitchers and started drinking directly out of it all in the span of 20 minutes. He was like a human tornado. That's some good, horrible behavior.

That sounds par for the course. behavior that sounds par for the course. I was working at a restaurant called Epic Burger when I was in college. And the it was the location I was at was right next to it was like in the financial district. So you got all like the finance bros and whatnot. And you got all the riffraff who was coming from the river dying. And I was heading to work. It was 9 a.m and i saw a pyramid of empties just stacked outside on the sidewalk i was like this is gonna be crazy so we opened at 10 or 10 30 nothing was happening for quite some like a couple minutes like 10 20 minutes we're like oh okay cool this might be a chill day all of a sudden it was like a movie like you hear in the distance like epic burger epic burger and this mob of like 90 people just came in the restaurant all at once they

there was fistfights there was people literally shitting their pants and then wrapping it around the bottom of the toilet there were i didn't get a single break the entire i did not one bathroom break i stayed on that line for nine hours and just served people yelling in my face there was someone oddly enough who reached behind the counter and also took a picture from behind the counter it was full of milkshake like unmixed milkshake goo and they just straight started like chugging it in front it was chaos i never again so glad i'm out so maybe don't do that yeah maybe don't do that uh listener if you're thinking about going out have fun but uh try to keep in mind that the people who work at these places are human beings and they don't deserve to deal with toxic waste for getting paid such a low wage. Come on, keep it together.

March Madness kicked off. There were a couple big upsets in one of them. 15 seed Princeton beat two seed Arizona. And it was the first time in my history watching NCAA tournament basketball that I wasn't rooting for the underdog. I was like, in the broad scheme of things, Princeton is never the underdog in anything. But shouts out to anybody pretending to work out there. Well, actually watching college basketball, that used to be me. I've lost my

appetite for college basketball a few years back. Yeah. Well, those are some of the things that are trending on this Friday, March 17th. Happy St. Paddy's Day to those who celebrate.
