Starting point is 00:00:00 Kay hasn't heard from her sister in seven years. I have a proposal for you. Come up here and document my project. All you need to do is record everything like you always do. What was that? That was live audio of a woman's nightmare. Can Kay trust her sister or is history repeating itself? There's nothing dangerous about what you're doing.
Starting point is 00:00:18 They're just dreams. Dream Sequence is a new horror thriller from Blumhouse Television, iHeartRadio, and Realm. Listen to Dream Sequence on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. How do you feel about biscuits? Hi, I'm Akilah Hughes, and I'm so excited about my new podcast, Rebel Spirit, where I head back to my hometown in Kentucky and try to convince my high school to change their racist mascot, the rebels, into something everyone in the South loves, the biscuits. I was a lady rebel. Like, what does that even mean? It's right here in black and white and prints. It's bigger than a flag or mascot.
Starting point is 00:00:55 Listen to Rebel Spirit on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Captain's Log, Stardate 2024. We're floating somewhere in the cosmos, but we've lost our map. Yeah, because you refuse to ask for directions. It's Space Gem, there are no roads. Good point. So, where are we headed? Into the unknown, of course. Join us on In Our Own World as we uncover hidden truths, navigate the depths of culture, identity, and the human spirit.
Starting point is 00:01:21 With a hint of mischief. One episode at a time. Buckle up and listen to In Our Own World on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Trust us, it's out of this world. What happens when a professional football player's career ends and the applause fades and the screaming fans move on?
Starting point is 00:01:40 I am going to share my journey of how I went from Christianity to now a Hebrew Israelite. For some former NFL players, a new faith provides answers. You mix homesteading with guns in church. Voila! You got straightway. They try to save everybody. Listen to Spiraled on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts hello everybody it's tom the chicken what's trending with this episode of bobby trending if you remember anybody watch anna nicole show remember bobby trendy i just made that up right now i was just thinking what has trends in it uh and all like my brain is just rotted with old reality TV characters who weren't even main characters.
Starting point is 00:02:26 Ancillary people. And yes, I called Bobby Trendy ancillary. Maybe because he went to Saugus High School, a rival high school, even though we're not even the same age. But I keep the beef real. High school beefs are important. You got to keep them alive forever. You got to keep them real. I mean, Daniel, we already know we have high school beef you didn't even know about.
Starting point is 00:02:40 You got to keep them real. I mean, Daniel, we already know we have high school beef you didn't even know about. Because I used to actually, I think, talk shit to kids that went to your high school, probably around the time when I was older than you. There's a chance I may be verbally harassed you as a teenager driving by at your school. That's totally acceptable. If you heard bombs over Baghdad blasting out of a Pathfinder and someone says, hey, fuck your school, that was me.
Starting point is 00:03:02 Every day? Wow. Okay. Every damn day. So, yeah, we're trending. That's DJ Daniel. Good man. What up, what up'all school. That was me. Every day. Wow. Okay. Every damn day. So yeah, we're trending. That's DJ Daniel. Good man. What up?
Starting point is 00:03:09 What up? You're going with that one? Yeah. Yes. Okay. What were you feeling there? What was that? Like a wolf man or something?
Starting point is 00:03:17 What were you feeling? No, just trying to keep the tones a little dulcet. Keeping it low. I was listening to terrestrial radio today, and I heard some of the humor from the Morning Drive people. It honestly makes open mic comics look like the geniuses of our era. There was some thing that they were doing. It's like, is this Netflix or not Flix? hotflix where they did a bit where they would make up a like a concept that is either something that's actually buried somewhere deep in netflix or it's something i just made up and they come up with a film about some whatever i don't care why am i giving fresh people fresh we want to know
Starting point is 00:03:56 what's trending in a way that is safe for us to engage with and not kind of completely uh become for us to engage with and not kind of completely become downtrodden and feel all sad. First up, Smize. Smize is trending. You know what smizing is? Smiling with your eyes? Yeah, so you know that word. Yeah, I'm familiar. So tell me this. We're doing it a lot in this whole
Starting point is 00:04:16 mass culture thing. I'm terrible at it, but let's talk about why it's trending. Tyra Banks, she is saying Smize needs to be added to the dictionary. And I don't...
Starting point is 00:04:31 I mean, yeah, okay. I feel like if you fucked with Next Top Model, then that's where I heard Smize. Before that, I don't think... But again, that's reality. We were rooting for you. What was that?
Starting point is 00:04:46 Back then. What? Wasn't we were rooting for you? What's the famous meme where she's like, we were rooting for you. Oh yeah. She's yelling at that contestant. That was so much fun. I think that should actually be in the, that gif should make it to the dictionary before
Starting point is 00:05:01 smize. I feel like that one has much more cultural relevance. Totally. But yeah, like, you like you know smiling smiling with your eyes she says we keep calling the miriam webster people uh so we keep she's like we keep she says we call them we email them we show them the cover of the wall street journal we keep like we show everything all this stuff and they're just like oh you know we've been we've had our eye on Smize for a couple of years. And I'm like, you know what? Now you're just hate.
Starting point is 00:05:28 That's an actual quote from her about the- Now it's just hate. It is. I mean, come on, man. I mean, they added Jabroni to the dictionary. So I feel like- No, they did not. Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:05:38 Jabroni's in there? Jabroni just got added to the dictionary. Because of Dwayne The Rock Johnson? I think you could associate it with him. Sure. Absolutely. I mean, did it have any other root before him? I only know of Jabron dictionary because of Dwayne, the rock Johnson. I think you could associate it with him. Sure. Absolutely. I mean, was,
Starting point is 00:05:46 did it have any other route before him? I only know of jabroni because of right. Right. My understanding is it's, it's a term for jobbers in, uh, in wrestling culture. So it's like,
Starting point is 00:05:55 you know, I think he may have popularized it while it may be a general term in wrestling, but, uh, yeah. Oh, damn.
Starting point is 00:06:02 Okay. Well go off, go off Dwayne. Uh, yeah. The sm Well, go off. Go off, Dwayne. Yeah. The smizing thing now, I have, ugh. I mean, like, if I already didn't have to spend enough time to try and feel non-threatening without a mask on. Right.
Starting point is 00:06:15 It's like, I have to, like, widen my eyes to be like, I'm smiling under here. Yee! And it's a little, it's like, I get, like, face cramps. Yeah. So I just don't leave the house yeah fuck it or just wear sunglasses there you guys that works too i mean yeah keep it real locked up very steampunk you know what else is trending what's trending our old arch nemesis jk how do you say rolling rowling i think either way it don't matter because it don't matter
Starting point is 00:06:40 fucking turf uh just fucked up transphobic uh creator that people love to hate and r.i.p jk rolling is uh trending and people go okay what the fuck because obviously we know how twitter works now whenever you're any whenever it's r.i.p someone it's you can almost guarantee they didn't die yeah um exactly some people are saying like all i could glean was this is i can't believe what's going on. The cancel culture on this website is too much. I stand with J.K. Rowling. Other people were like, she should have been canceled a long time ago.
Starting point is 00:07:12 Whatever. What happened, Dan? So she's just confirming all of her, you know, really horrible TERF stances by writing a book about a man who dresses up as a woman to kill cisgendered women. Oh, my. Wait. Yes.
Starting point is 00:07:32 So she, her, wait, this is a book that's going to come out? Yes. So after this summer and her constantly being like, I'm a TERF, maybe I'm not. Oh, yes, I am. Are trans women women? I don't know. I'm a TERF. Maybe I'm not. Oh, yes, I am. Are trans women women? I don't know. I'm a wizard. Bye.
Starting point is 00:07:47 She's now being like, yeah, you know, I'm gonna put my energy into creating a character that is like built off transphobic tropes. Yeah, it's the book is called Trouble Blood. And in the second edition, the silkworm portrays a trans character as being unstable and aggressive. The meat of the book is the investigation into a cold case. Okay, cool, JK. Hopefully just come out and say you're JK because we were rolling laughing at this one. Now.
Starting point is 00:08:17 Sorry, guys. I listened to AM radio and now I got my inspiration. Honestly, man, I can't believe. Yeah, man. It's really trash. what the fuck are we doing podcasting dan we should just do drive time radio like we could phone in the jokes but i would probably say slip up and the fec would just come from my wig because i would wear a wig if i was on the radio i just feel like even though they can't see me i just that's the vibe i would have
Starting point is 00:08:40 that's the vibe uh the bobcat fire is trending as well uh this is this is a fire that's probably closest to our city of los angeles um and it's one i have an eye on everybody has an eye on because it's beginning to move closer to foothill communities um so i think many many people are definitely um you concerned because it turns out this fire shit is scary as fuck and causing so much damage. Uh, yeah, it's,
Starting point is 00:09:12 yeah, I don't know what else to say. It's terrible. I mean, like aside from feeling like I've, I've resigned to the fact that this is just sort of like our reality and more and more people, you know,
Starting point is 00:09:21 have to think about this, who are living in the area of like, is this going to actually change? Or like, are we, you know, it think about this who are living in the area of like is this gonna actually change or like are we you know it's like any kind of uh seasonal catastrophes that occur you know i did a little in my uh concern of getting back to los angeles and seeing this guy being a burnt sienna and not being happy about it i did a little reading the toyota the toyota minivan the sienna nailed it and uh why controlled burns aren. I did a little reading. The Toyota minivan, the Sienna? You nailed it. And why controlled burns aren't more of a thing.
Starting point is 00:09:48 And there's a really interesting article. Why control? Did you say why control? The yeah, yeah, yeah song? Anyway, there's an article from April of this year about how most of the resistance to the idea of controlled burns come from, you guessed it, rich people who own farmland who are afraid of the potential of
Starting point is 00:10:05 controlled burns and yet this fire right now destroying those ranches so more nimby bullshit keeping us from just protecting ourselves and you know and then finally macy's is trending not because they're having a sick sale on clothes you can wear to your office uh i don't even know why that's my feeling of macy's i feel like whenever i had to go to macy's it was because i need to close for something i didn't want to go to or it's for a thing i did like i'm like shit i need black slacks for this job i don't have black slacks because i don't own a suit and then i go to macy's or like what do you mean i need a white dress shirt for this interview so they're trending uh not because they're having sale but because the thanksgiving day parade that they're so famous for
Starting point is 00:10:50 has been canceled for remarks that the parade made on twitter uh years ago uh no it's it's de blasio is like i'm sorry we got to stop this because it's i mean do i have to explain y'all it's it's it this is what's going on I mean I'm just glad that that's the headline and not like some representative from Macy's is like it's happening COVID or not yeah we're like the IOC baby and the conservative outrage
Starting point is 00:11:17 is already starting you know this is again the people have a full buffet of things to be outraged over watch a fucking replay from last year who gives a shit oh they actually should have pulled that shit and most people wouldn't even caught on as long as it wasn't that one wasn't there one where like pikachu almost killed a bunch of people or some shit yeah exactly it like so don't do that one right so don't do that one yeah do one from like 2011 you know what i mean no no 2014 i feel like
Starting point is 00:11:48 that's close enough that people won't and far away enough that nothing seems too dated yeah but at the same time who knows also probably when they definitely would have had a minions float so it was like it's still chill still oh but minions are like fucking their mainstays like any time i'm around people with like small kids or like younger family members nieces nephews they still fucking bang with the minions bang hard with the minions and i'm like yo they haven't given you anything in years off the strength of the first album you're not damn y'all are some real fans i think just i mean jack always loves to talk about it how they're just they're creatures that i guess kids just damn y'all are some real fans I think just I mean Jack always loves to talk about it how they're just
Starting point is 00:12:26 creatures that I guess kids just understand I'm just trying to look at some conservative okay so this is from Gateway Pundit of course their take on this is going to be really something De Blasio cancels Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade killing New York City
Starting point is 00:12:43 economy further thank you Jim Hoff youpresent piece of nonsense. He starts off, Communist Mayor Bill de Blasio announced Monday he's canceling. Oh, my God. What the fuck? Come the fuck on. You know what I mean? At the end of the day, man, don't be upset about the COVID deaths or anything because that's not affecting enough people that look like you or the police brutality because it's not affecting enough people that look like you
Starting point is 00:13:07 so let's just get mad about the fucking macy's parade what what up i hate to use the word privilege but what privilege that must be to that be the thing that irks you the most these days if if only What a blessing. Dan, thanks for hopping on this trending episode. It's always cool when Jack's out. Let's talk that shit. Let's talk that gaming shit.
Starting point is 00:13:35 He's off somewhere else doing some bullshit. Honestly, and also while you're here, I just want a quick sidebar with you, and we'll do this on record. Fall Guys. Yes. Oh, wow. I can this on record. Fall Guys. Yes. Oh, wow. I can't get past the second round.
Starting point is 00:13:49 I feel you. I'm weak as fuck. It's okay. You just got to keep going. Persevere. Whirly Gig is my shit. I love that. Whirly Gig, I'm flying through that motherfucker.
Starting point is 00:14:03 It's not even an issue. I'll do that shit. No problem. Hell yeah. It's that other one where the shit is spinning, and you got to keep moving all the spinning wheels, and it's all about not falling off the shit. It's like Dizzy Heights.
Starting point is 00:14:16 I get so many people fuck with me. I'll always be the last person to be eliminated to end the round, and it's always some lurker who decides to grab me or fuck with me i swear to god if a fucking glizzy grabs me one more time i am uninstalling the damn game it's too much stop the grabbing is there a way for everybody can we create our own lobbies like could we do like a next update next update yeah oh so we could do like zeitgang yes literally yes and then see and then let's do that because then you have to assign a gamer tag to y'all and then i could shame you oh and then we can know and then we'll know
Starting point is 00:14:49 revolting deplorables yeah yeah they have a lot of fixes in the works low-key i'm gonna grab some people too you know what i mean because that's kind of the fun let's be real i love to hear it i love it oh man all right daniel thanks so much for stopping in. A pleasure. A pleasure as always. Let's do it all again tomorrow. Why not? Sounds good. I'll be here, baby. I know. Cool. Bye. Kay hasn't heard from her sister in seven years.
