We were episode of Boogie Zites. Ooh. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:06 Oh, shit. We were just talking about that. Love that movie with Dirk Diggler. Uh-huh. That's a character. Not a real guy, right? What? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:16 That is courtesy of Tanner Olson. I'm Jack. That's Miles? Yeah, thank you. Hey, man. Thank you for recognizing me. All right. Sir.
Starting point is 00:02:24 Great to be back with you. Great to be back here. How was your President's Day weekend? I was in Chicago. Oh, yeah, you were. Right after tour, y'all got to go home. I went to Chicago. I got to meet my cousin, Rui Hachimura.
Starting point is 00:02:40 Yeah. The other Blackanese man. I crawled so that he could fly and dunk, as I like to tell him. Did you tell him that? I did. I was like, bro, I said, I'm an old ass man. I'm looking up to you. And he was actually kind of tripped out by me a little bit.
Starting point is 00:02:52 Yeah. He was like. Because I came up to him. He was at like a, you know, normal English speaking event. Yeah. And I had to come out from the shadows in Japanese looking at him like, it's me from the future. If you didn't eat enough protein.
Starting point is 00:03:08 Were you like, man, this must be wild for you. Yeah. Yeah. It's me. Yeah. He's like,
Starting point is 00:03:13 who the fuck are you? Yeah. His security guard almost body slammed me. All right. Let's talk about some things that are trending. Quickly, quickly, quickly.
Starting point is 00:03:21 Wait, have I told you that story? No. That's what, that's what Peter Jennings said to me when i was walking down the hall at abc news he like came up behind me and i was just like you know lazing my yeah just sauntering my dumb 22 year old ass down the hall and he was like quickly quickly and i was like damn all right police academy but my wife always quotes that back to me. I told her that story. And then she's like, yeah, sometimes you just go real slowly.
Starting point is 00:03:49 I like how you immediately went, oh, I told you that story? Well, it's very specific tonation and repetition of, unless Peter Jennings was quoting a movie. Police Academy. Oh. Or his would have been, move it, move it. Oh, OK. Rob Blagojevich. Rob Blagojevich.
Starting point is 00:04:07 Rob Blagojevich. Blagojevich. Uh, yeah, Blagoj's. Blagoj's. He got pardoned? His sentence was commuted. His sentence was commuted by
Starting point is 00:04:23 our fearless leader, dear leader dear leader yeah it's just every day there's an every day since impeachment there's been a new fuck you to the rule of law from the president i guess this is more within the tradition of other presidents right i think he's on a tear right now to just pardon and commute sentences of people who do shit that he would probably be doing to try and be like um so it's not that uh so what if you uh you're completely corrupt and you're in jail right get him out also he pardoned uh this dude who's like the fucking daddy of junk bonds, high yield junk bonds, Michael Milken. He pleaded guilty to six counts of securities and tax violations in 1990.
Starting point is 00:05:14 Was going to do 10 years, later reduced to two. And yeah, he's just sort of like known as like one of the faces of the biggest scandals in the financial industry. Yeah. But look, he's doing philanthropy now. So like, it's fine. Can we just let him go? Yeah. I mean, mean come on he gave a small fraction of his fortune away to people and then also the former 49ers owner edward d bartolo jr hell yeah also pled guilty to uh failing report uh former louisiana governors uh like that a former lou governor extorted $400,000 from him in exchange for a casino license.
Starting point is 00:05:47 Damn. And then who was the other one? Oh, NYPD Commissioner Carrick, Bernard Carrick, who also pled guilty to, oh my goodness, charges of tax fraud and making false statements in connection with a $250,000 gift he accepted from an Israeli businessman. Was it all just like cartoon capitalist villains or were there some, you know, more blue collar criminals? No, I mean, I mean, Carrick, he's been on like Tucker Carlson. Right. So I'm sure that, you know, that's how Trump got that idea. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:24 So, yeah, that's I trump got that idea yeah uh so yeah it's i mean what the fuck man like this is this is where we're going unless people start really seeing what the fuck is going on there there are no laws right so buckle up rosario dawson is trending yes uh she maybe came out it's it's unclear it's a little like muddled they're treating it as such who like the just the internet the people who are making this trend or treating she had like a post that she did in 2018 during pride and people were like oh did you did you come out in that post uh and she's like people quote people kept saying it that i came out i didn't do that i mean it's not not she said i mean it's not inaccurate but i never did come out come out and then she said i mean i guess i am now
Starting point is 00:07:11 she's still with cory booker right um so i think without actually explicitly saying what her sexuality is a lot of people in the press are saying that she was just coming out as bisexual and she said a lot of it had to do with just like by dating corey booker it sort of forced her to put herself under and uh like sort of look what's the word microscope under a microscope yeah because that was happening to her friends and family from being there and that's how she arrived there so you know what shout out to rosario dawson and i mean is she saying because mm-hmm and I mean is she saying because that those two things seem maybe unrelated in the sense that like she it happened in 2018 before she started dating Cory Booker right then she had this high-profile relationship and now I don't know it just seems like whatever it is. I mean, it's they're not contradictory.
Starting point is 00:08:06 Obviously, everyone is somewhere on a spectrum and let her live. Yeah. I mean, they seem pretty in love. Yeah. No, she makes social media posts where she's like the love of my life. You're the kind of social media posts I wish I had rather than getting passive aggressive questions from audience members. Hey, real quick.
Starting point is 00:08:27 QQ for my followers. On Valentine's Day, would you? I couldn't even think of something. Is it cool if your significant other doesn't? Shouts you out? Yeah. Does that mean there's trouble ahead? Let me know.
Starting point is 00:08:42 Call in. Pier one, trending. Oh, man. Filing for bankruptcy. Also going to bankruptcy. Yeah. They couldn't hack it anymore, baby. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:08:52 You got world market. You got home goods. You got Wayfair. You got just what I need. Making very cheap products. So Pier 1 has no longer been able to exist in the game. So Pier 1 has no longer been able to exist in the game. What's the other one that friends talked about?
Starting point is 00:09:13 How every piece of furniture is from... Crate and Barrel? Crate and Barrel, yeah. Yeah. CMB. Yeah. I mean, Pier 1 is probably the first home goods place I went to where I thought I was balling. Oh, really?
Starting point is 00:09:24 When I'm like, you know what? I'm going to Pier 1. And I'm going to get that weird rattan basket bucket chair that everybody had with the cushion in it that basically looked like a satellite dish with a cushion. I'm going to get that. Yeah. I have a lot of good memories at Pier 1. I feel like if you were going to college in the early aughts, late 90s,
Starting point is 00:09:44 Pier 1 is where you would go to be like, you know what? I need a plate, but I want a nice one. I'm going to go there. I was more of a BB&B guy. What was that? Bed, Bath & Beyond. Oh. Oh.
Starting point is 00:09:55 Yeah. Well, yeah. I mean, BB&B is up there. You know what I mean? My furniture was all clear plastic. Oh. Of the clear plastic variety. Got it. Cale Of the clear plastic variety. Got it.
Starting point is 00:10:07 Kaylin Bennett, also trending. That's Kent State Gun Girl, right? Kent State Gun Girl. She's really just gone viral. The easiest way you can go viral by being a conservative. And showing up in the public. Triggers the libs in public. So she came to Ohio University university it was an announced visit uh she did
Starting point is 00:10:29 not you know tell the police that there was going to be you know possibly a crowd gathering or uh which she knew and that was sort of her aim uh she just showed up and then was acted surprised and you know like it was just unreasonable liberals when people showed up and definitely there are like some as with any crowd that's protesting like there are some people who probably said things they weren't super proud of or said it in a way that like they're like yeah maybe that wasn't my best look yeah uh but i don't know man it's it's just wild this this reminds me of that time when that dude in a mega hat went and stood in front of a native american it reminds you of that yeah just just the idea of two different people seeing things completely differently
Starting point is 00:11:25 or two different sides seeing things completely differently. Right, right, right. By the way, was that kid wearing a MAGA hat or am I just adding a MAGA hat to him? Yeah, I remember he was MAGA teen. MAGA teen. MAGA teen, brought to you by Ovaltine. And the best part, the videos I saw, people were saying like, shit your
Starting point is 00:11:42 pants. Because remember on Twitter, that was what was going around? People were just saying she shit her pants. And then that became a thing. So, like, somebody who, like, knew her from Kent State said she shit her pants at a party. And then that became a thing? No, I think they were just saying she shit her pants. And I don't know if it was really tied to anything.
Starting point is 00:11:58 It was just a way to just troll her. Got it. And she didn't like it. So then, naturally, that's what the internet does. Like, oh, you don't like that? then naturally that's what the internet does but oh you don't like that okay i'm gonna turn it up to 50 ar 15 now right on almost like a thing that she does with her yeah yeah well you don't like me pointing a gun yeah a lot of people i'm surprised like you know her whole thing i wonder if it was just to get this soundbite or tweet that she did
Starting point is 00:12:23 which is sort of like this is what happens when a trump supporter goes to a college campus leftists at ohio university started a riot when joel patrick and i uh showed up and oh you police let it happen apparently nothing happened i think she's people said maybe she got drinks dumped on her you know when you're acting like a racist and you cape for that stuff. Sometimes people will also let you know what their values are as well. Yeah. Also, shout out to her quote unquote security guard who just looked like a dude who was like 9'10". 9'10 with a beanie that says security.
Starting point is 00:12:57 Yeah. I don't know what the fuck he was going to stop. Yo, shout out to him securing the bag. Is she extremely short or is he extremely tall that was the one question that i got i have think i think it's a little bit of both a little bit from a little bit from colin b so uh the police force uh so she came up went online and was like i started a riot just by appearing and the police uh wrote a an official statement, contrary to allegations circulating on social media, the incident did not rise to the level of a riot.
Starting point is 00:13:29 There was strong language and allegations that some unknown persons in the crowd splashed water, but there were no reported injuries or violence and no one was arrested during the event. And they also said, it should be noted that the police department received no prior notice of the activist plans, although such notice is not required.
Starting point is 00:13:49 The lack of it deprived the department of the ability to plan staffing levels. Uh, so yeah, they're just kind of calling her on her bullshit. Yeah. And she just wanted to, you know, she, she wanted to feel relevant by getting a bunch of kids fired up and she, you know, was out there and she has like a great website where she talks about herself in third person. I already mentioned that last time she came up. And, you know, that's what happens when you want to say wild shit about transgender people and even call yourself a woman of color.
Starting point is 00:14:17 Yeah, maybe, you know, maybe not so much. Leave that at home. Anyways, but I mean, I think we should acknowledge that the police always have a liberal bias. 100%. If you know one thing they're only there to just keep
Starting point is 00:14:35 radical right wing voices down. You know what I mean? While protecting and fighting on behalf of the law. Alright, well those are four things that are trending this afternoon. We hope you guys had a great weekend. We are going to be back tomorrow morning with a whole nother podcast, and we will talk to you guys then.
