Starting point is 00:00:05 When we were going on to the cyclone rush thing, you're saying Anna and I were talking ahead of you and your kid. Having a good time. And my 10-year-old was with us, went on the ride with us. You're saying like, I love your low energy because of what you're about to say he said to you. He said to me, Dad, the biggest mistake I've ever made was watching the movie Jaws. my favorite movie, which I thought I was doing him a solid by showing him last summer. And I was like,
Starting point is 00:00:39 oh, was it too, too scary for you? And he was just like, no, it was just like not good. Just jenkinsed. The offense were bad. Which I was, so I was like, and that's the worst thing. He's like, one of them. One of the worst things that's ever happened to me.
Starting point is 00:00:56 And so now I'm trying to figure out how that was so bad. And I think it has to be that he lost respect for me because I'm so into jaws. How could that be a- thing that I would do in college when I'd have a girl over to watch a movie that I thought was really cool.
Starting point is 00:01:12 Just keep watching them. Watch this part. Watch this part. Like not watching a screen. They're like, are they vibing with it? Wow, we had like a Mountain Dew moment like I had with you.
Starting point is 00:01:19 Yeah, exactly. I was like, oh, he's just a guy. Oh, no. He's just some dude. That's just some guy. Had so much more faith. Beverages and movies, apparently. One thing I will say,
Starting point is 00:01:31 is every 70s movie is much slower. Even the good ones are much slower than you think. Like watching a child watch original Star Wars now, I fully get it. Most of that shit takes place in like a boardroom. Yeah, there's a lot of boardroom scenes. And then George Lucas came off of that and was like, you know what we need in the prequels?
Starting point is 00:01:54 Trade Charters. Yeah. It needs to be about trade policy. Yep. You learn talking about this enough. It's where a real power line. I think John was actually cooks. I think it moves really fast, but yeah, sure.
Starting point is 00:02:06 I went to the same thing. I remember my dad, I get it. It's different, Miles. You're right. Because I took a huge dump on every movie he thought I thought would be cool. Yeah, yeah. Oh, you're going to watch, you know, you're going to love this one. It's like a kid that I just waved to.
Starting point is 00:02:22 We've got a window in front of us with children coming and going to a little snack bar from the pool. And I just waved to a five-year-old, and he cringed. Yeah. He's like, ugh. And the dad just knocked on the glass. He said, I'm going to kick your ass when you come out here. You. I'm going to kick you.
Starting point is 00:02:42 He just gives me only is. This is an I-Heart podcast. Guaranteed human. Get Bell Pure Fiber Internet with Crave, Netflix, and Disney Plus. Starting point is 00:05:27 I actually don't know why it's playing this out loud. I'm so sorry. That's okay. I'm not that sorry. Don't bring me back to Earth with those R-Tain sounds of toiling. If you do, make it the slack one that sounds like a coconut being hit
Starting point is 00:05:41 because then at least it's on theme. Is that a thing? Oh, God. We also have a new non-news history version of the TDZ drop. I don't even know the name of our damn show anymore, Doug. Dropping each Monday morning where we do a deep dive into the zeities to the lens of a different icon.
Starting point is 00:05:58 Last week we did Bjork. This week we did David Lynch. and it's a fun one. Yeah. Go watch some David Lynch and then listen to our episodes. A lot of fun. They are the episodes on Monday with Icon and the title and a slightly different logo. But here it is Thursday, July 23rd, 2026.
Starting point is 00:06:17 Yeah, it's National Gorgeous Grandma Day. I don't know why that's up top. That sounds horny. What? National vanilla ice cream day. National Sprinkle Day. those two better go hand in hand because I'm not getting vanilla ice cream
Starting point is 00:06:35 without some dang sprinkles This is another one Jack I think apropos of the phrases Whitesisms Colloquialisms is hot enough for you Day Is it really? It's hot enough for you day
Starting point is 00:06:47 Sure is Yeah sure is brother My name is Jack O'Brien A.K. I can draw sharks Scary Murder Sharks I just don't think that I can draw man and if you want a shark
Starting point is 00:07:02 A scary murder shark I'll draw one and a severed hand That one courtesy of Snarfield on the Discord I think this is an older one that I've done before Right We did just have a shark drawing moment At dinner the other night Where my son
Starting point is 00:07:20 Disappointed in me and my taste in shark movies But it does seem proud of me That I can draw sharks I was like show him dad Show them how you can draw sharks. Tell them, Steve, Dave. Anyway, shout out to Snarfula, one of the greats. I'm thrilled to be joined, as always, by my co-host, Mr. Miles Gray.
Starting point is 00:07:41 Hey, it's Miles Gray, aka, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom. If you've ever been up on a cliffside with you, my, if you, be ready, be ready to clinch your butt hole. Straight line and leaning backwards Is definitely definitely gonna hurt That's human behavior Shout out Snarkula for that one too Damn Giving us some Bjork human behavior
Starting point is 00:08:13 acknowledging that I don't know how to pencil dive In a body of water It may have gone directly butt down Through you Exactly This water just flows through you like Cliffs to trees to branches Cliffs to avalanches
Starting point is 00:08:28 There it is. There it is. There it is. Exacta from Snarfila. Exacta box. We're thrilled to be joined in our third seat by one of our very favorite guests, one of the very faces on Mount Zaitmore, a hilarious and brilliant producer and TV writer. You know him from the Yosus Racist podcast, the new starter track podcast. It's Andrew T. Andrew. Oh, I did. I got one. I got one. Okay. I love Andrew T. Put him on another podcast, baby.
Starting point is 00:08:57 This is sort of from someone else, but imagine me saying it. Einstein Hoonter on Blue Sky. Okay. Thanks to John Jett. What do you mean it's from someone else? They're all from someone else. Oh, you're saying you didn't write it. I didn't write this.
Starting point is 00:09:12 Oh, okay. Yeah, yeah. Shout out to Einstein Humter. Andrew. Get this guy on another gang podcast. I'm loving this. Exactly right. How are you doing?
Starting point is 00:09:25 What's it like back in? on non-island time. What day is leaving there, man? Regular time. What is it? Regular time. I just have, this.
Starting point is 00:09:37 It clearly, I'm going to say this. I'm, I can't, I think the main thing I'm jealous about is the fruits who are talking about fruit options. Yeah. Yeah. I could go get the fruit platter
Starting point is 00:09:48 from the green room right now, man. Oh my God. Make your eyes pop out of your head. I would love, I would love that so much. I've had many. Bahama exclusive fruits. I've had a dragon fruit,
Starting point is 00:10:02 which I don't think anybody has ever had other than us. That's correct. We just pulled a face. Mangoo. I got that. What color dragon fruit we're talking about? White. The white.
Starting point is 00:10:17 You look like chocolate chip ice cream. The white. Okay. Like pink on the outside or yellow on the outside? The outside's been cut off, Andrew. how we're living down here. I don't know what it looks like at all. Couldn't even possibly guess.
Starting point is 00:10:32 Oh, man. Yeah. Yellow dragon fruit. Sweeter, I think. I don't know enough about dragon fruits, but. Yeah, that golden kiwi. Yeah, that golden kiwi. Yeah, I've just, I've just been eating shittier versions of all the things you guys
Starting point is 00:10:45 have been having. I got to tell you. Well, except that one spot when we got the Bun Me downtown, that, that mango we got at the Vietnamese place? That dude had good mangoes. Yeah, that guy, I hope. That's, uh, my dog. mostly grocery store,
Starting point is 00:10:58 small grocery bodega, but also I think this is still true. I think considered Best Bun Me in L.A. City. Right, right. Which is a crucial distinction. It gets wider from there.
Starting point is 00:11:12 Yeah, much wider. I believe that is what the consensus is. Okay, okay. But yeah, that motherfucker has just all kinds of fruits. Top-notch man. I'll tell you what. Oh, yeah. It feels like, it feels like shit
Starting point is 00:11:24 like in a movie where it's like, No, bro, you don't get real fruit in the market. Come over here, bro. Look at this shit. I got off the boat. You're like, oh, fuck. It's just stinking. It's like ice cream.
Starting point is 00:11:34 Oh, yeah. Some mangoes just. The mangoes were reeking through the skin. You were like, they were ripe, daddy. They were just past ripe. I've gotten crazy pineapples from that dude. I've got a chariomoi, the size of a softball. Oh.
Starting point is 00:11:49 That didn't cost like $30. Wow. Well, hey, you're doing low. Kind of not worth it. Andrew, we're thrilled. to have you here, you know, over Zoom with us. Thanks for having me. Should we just pretend you're here with us?
Starting point is 00:12:03 Just fooling us. It's great to see you. Oh, man, take a sip of your Pinya collad. We're going to get to know you a little bit better in a moment. First, we're going to tell the listeners a couple of things we're talking about. We are just going to briefly mention an update to yesterday's story that we were talking about how badly cyber trucks are selling. They're also deadly?
Starting point is 00:12:23 Yeah, yeah, yeah, apparently. They're killing people? That's what I've heard. That's what I've heard. That's what we're hearing. We're going to talk about open AI doing their thing that they like to do where they're like, the large language model has escaped containment. We're in big trouble here, guys.
Starting point is 00:12:42 They just like to, it's like my marketing strategy as the Shepard's son is to draw attention to the great work the Shepherds doing by repeatedly crying wolf, even when there may not be a wolf, present. And that way I get attention to all the good work my dad's doing. It seems like an ill-defined strategy that they should take a second look at. We're going to talk about Robocop being rebooted by Omnichore. Oh, I'm sorry, Amazon, but basically Omnicor. And then we will, of course, talk about Elon Musk, promising that Grok will make the best Odyssey movie of 2026. He's lost the fucking plot fully.
Starting point is 00:13:26 Yeah. He's like, no, you thought that was good. Wait till you see what Grock is able to produce. Part of me is like, I have to see what this nonsense looks like. But I've already seen AI generated movies. And I already know, like, no. Yeah. Sorry.
Starting point is 00:13:42 The company that made the fully AI generated movie at Tribeca that everyone was raving about until a single person saw it. Right. It was like, and we're on it, sir. We've got this one, Elon. And they're working on it. We'll see. All of that, plenty more.
Starting point is 00:13:58 But first, Andrew, we do like to ask Eric, guess, what is something from your search history that's revealing about who you are? Oh, man. This is more of a class of searches from my search history because I had to almost do it this morning, which is just like, you know, blank companies politics.
Starting point is 00:14:17 Sure. Because I've gotten so, I guess, paranoid is what most people would call it. Because this morning I got a marketing email, from the company that makes the ions that I come in a little packet that I put into distilled water with which I use to brew coffee. Okay. There's really only one company that does this, so this is not really that anonymous. Anyway, their marketing email said, you're what makes us great.
Starting point is 00:14:45 And so I had to go into a rabbit hole to figure out if this was some secret magazine. And survey says? I didn't actually go. It's just a thing that it's a type of search. that I do all the time. I can't stand to learn the truth, man, if it's going to fuck up my cause. It's too scary. I'm going to tell you this. I don't know what I would do without these people because like the water in my tap. Well, you were about to do home bro. Homebrew genetic testing. I feel like you could figure out how to like ionize your water in a way. Yeah, I just don't want to
Starting point is 00:15:13 figure out the, yeah, I guess I'm just buying potassium and. Yeah, man, I get you potassium. Some K? Some K. You need some K bro? Yeah. Is that there? Oh, yeah. Update on sodium. Yeah, sorry. Update on sodium. Sodium citrate. Did we talk about this? We've talked about how you used, because you made that cheese sauce with sodium citrate. Yep, yep.
Starting point is 00:15:34 Sodium citrate, I did not realize this. I'm so dumb. It's made by Donald Trump. Sodium citrate, the chemical formula for it is, oh, fuck, I'm chlorine. It's nacho. It's sodium, carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, yeah. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:15:51 I was like, is it cock? Miles. Sorry. What the hell is going on with you? I don't know what's going. Our show is never like this, you guys. Chris, I want to apologize. It was way better a few days ago, wasn't it?
Starting point is 00:16:04 The show. We were more professional, right? She said what? This show? Bree. Why? I'm confused. Who are you speaking to?
Starting point is 00:16:11 I'm going to engineer, Bree. Do you guys feel like you guys are having just like tropical brain rot? Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Brain rot. Yeah. It's terrible. I was like, I was apologizing all last week. I'm like, I don't know what's going to happen to my brain when I'm,
Starting point is 00:16:25 when I'm just coming out of a laying down position and then having to be like, surveillance capitalism. I get it. I get why all the oligarchs come out here. Every time I bring up a serious news story, Miles is over there giving me the throat cutting muscle. No, no, no, no, no, no. Well, yeah, you don't know true vacation until you get a text from Jack telling you to report
Starting point is 00:16:46 to the water slides at 11 a.m. I was told I had to be full there. All hands on deck. We got an all hands on. We're doing cyclone rush. Cyclone drop. My kids aren't heavy enough for us to send it like I think all three of us can. Plus one of my kids.
Starting point is 00:17:03 Yeah. My kids aren't heavy cheese sauces. All right. Yeah, it is magic. It is the chemical. It's the powder that turns cheese into cheese. You said you have like an industrial, like you for how much you need, you have more that you'll ever need, right? Okay, I'm going to stop by for someone I get back.
Starting point is 00:17:26 Yeah, yeah, yeah. I have, like, you know, whatever this is. I've an eighth. An eighth. Three and a half grams? That's not a lot. You robbed it. You robbed a train.
Starting point is 00:17:37 What's up, dude. I got an eight ball of nacho right here. No, what I have is I have the, like, bag from the Indian store, which in retrospect is for a restaurant. Oh, like you bought a restaurant, restaurant supply quality quantity. I'm guessing. Yeah, yeah. Because once I started using it, I was like, oh, like, I would have to actually drink nacho cheese for the rest of my life to finish this.
Starting point is 00:18:03 I've got like a jar of MSG that I don't think I'm ever going to get through. Yeah, exactly. It's like, you know, you'll get through it. You'll buy two in your life. Yeah, yeah, right, exactly. But it's like, you know, we're talking decades is the order for this fucker. Anyway. And you're saying that.
Starting point is 00:18:19 Sodium citrate. It's the best. And it's like letters. N-A-C-H-O N-C-H-O But that's purely coincidental Because it says that the word
Starting point is 00:18:32 Nacho comes from Ignacio Nacho Anaya Yeah You have to be That's crazy Like nachos has a concept Like existed long before
Starting point is 00:18:43 This fucking Frankenstein It's a thing that makes American cheese American cheats Right Right That suggests that like Our world
Starting point is 00:18:51 Like there's a glitch In the Matrix and like, Nacho Jesus is just like the one message being sent from God that's like, this is the one thing you guys got right. The universal constant. Everything else you're fucking up. Just someone needs to re-added contact.
Starting point is 00:19:06 Yeah, right. This is like non-stere, what's it mean? What is something you think is underrated, Andrew? Underrated. Okay. An underrated thing that I just did recently is a, I'm going to call, I've been calling it my 5D movie experience. What?
Starting point is 00:19:21 Which is when I went to go see. the Odyssey, right before going to the Odyssey, I went to a Mongolian restaurant in Monterey Park. I think it's not called Mongolian Pie House, but it's like Mongolian House of Pies or some shit like that. It's in the mall in Atlantic
Starting point is 00:19:36 Ave Street, I don't know. It's by the MC. And seeing the Odyssey, I had lamb ribs, among other Mongolian foods. And seeing the Odyssey, just reeking of lamb ribs. was an immersive experience?
Starting point is 00:19:55 Like, that's more what it was like. Like, being in a cramped dark room smelling like lamb. The fuck. I just hit a button by accident that sent me to accessibility shortcuts. Ooh. He panic mashed his keyboard. I've done that before. Anyway, that's what the fucking Odyssey is actually like.
Starting point is 00:20:16 And that was, in my opinion, delightful experience. I can't speak for anyone else. Were people looking at you? They're like, man, this motherfucker smelled like lamb ribs. Well, I was in Monterey Park. Yeah, yeah. So the answer is I was not the only one who smelled like lamb rams. Yeah, everybody's.
Starting point is 00:20:30 They're like, fucker. Oh, yeah. Other people were just at the restaurant with you. Oh, my God. Anyway, highly, highly recommend. Lambs. Sorry, to be specific. I'm trying to think of like other things you could do to be, to do like a method version of,
Starting point is 00:20:45 like, maybe you ride to the movie in the back of a U-Haul with, like, 40 dudes. Yeah. Your shirts on. Just like clinging to the side. Can't be scrapped down. You can't make a noise the whole way. That's how I drive in silence when I'm with my 40 dudes anyway.
Starting point is 00:21:01 Well, real G's moving sounds like lasagna. So it makes sense to me. What is something you think is overrated? That is flavors in things that are supposed to, like, mask other things. I accidentally bought, I don't know why I'm holding up this cup where it's empty now. Weird flex, but okay.
Starting point is 00:21:23 I got unfavored creatine powder. Hmm. Which is just like a tube of protein sand, basically. Yeah, yeah. It's like really disgusting.
Starting point is 00:21:35 It's really gritty. Yeah. But it's also like fine. I don't know. Like the previous one I had was like blue razz. Right, right, right. And it's like,
Starting point is 00:21:44 I can, you know, I'm taking chemical. holes. So, like, who gives a shit? Yeah. I don't need to taste nice. So what do you do? Fucking... What do you just like? I just knock it back. It's like... Yeah, well, no, with water.
Starting point is 00:21:56 Tons of water. Here's a word of the lines of it. Have you ever done at the dentist? I was only able to get this one time because I actually hate like when they're polishing your teeth, like the mint. How strong it is? Yeah. It's so gross.
Starting point is 00:22:12 Too much. And then, like, I think when you're a kid, sometimes I'll offer you like bubble gum or rape. And I was like, can I just get like fucking sand? Just like nothing flavor? One time, one dentist was like, yeah, actually we have like flavorless,
Starting point is 00:22:28 unflavored. Give them the dirt polish. And it is like gross. It is like, you know, someone, like you ate dirt for real. But it's like, who cares? You like to suffer a little bit. Yeah. Well, you're already suffering. It's gross either way. Yeah. Yeah. I want to
Starting point is 00:22:44 know. Yeah. I agree. Is that baking What is that sort of like gristly stuff they use to polish your teeth? I have no idea. It's dirt. It's not going to look at all. That's why it tastes like that. They just have a handful of dirt. It feels like dirt.
Starting point is 00:22:59 Like it genuinely feels like this boy's gums up. Let's get him. It feels like a gritty paste. Like a crystal scrub almost, you know, like that you would use on your body. It's called prophylase paste. Prophy paste. Okay. Calcium carbonate.
Starting point is 00:23:16 Pumice. Okay. So they're really trying to shine up those horse teeth, man. Calcium carbonate, that is like fucking... You can spell cock, I think. It's just going to keep trying to spell cock. As I looked, it has to be carbon, oxygen, carbon, potassium. Wouldn't happen.
Starting point is 00:23:36 No chemist in their right mind would write anything out like that. So it jokes on me. Well, you could do calcium carbon potassium. There you go. There you go. there you go. Cac. Cac O'Brien.
Starting point is 00:23:50 Did you say Cacobri? What the fuck is going on right now? I wish I knew. I wish I knew. That water slide is just changed me. CAC is what flubber is made of. That was a little detail they threw in that movie.
Starting point is 00:24:03 All right. Let's take a quick break. We'll be right. We're going to go a couple laps on a lazy river. Yeah, you guys are finally going to go relax. Yeah, we're going to go chill out. Stop working so hard on the preparation for this podcast. be right back.

And the conversations that start during the game and somehow
Starting point is 00:25:10 keep going all week. Every week we're breaking down the biggest stories across women's sports. Naomi Osaka showing out she beat Sabalinka. Shout out to you Naomi. Guest stars, collaborators, and friends, including director Jonathan Chrysler,

Well, I thought he was going to write. I thought you were all going to write a song. I remember you thinking that. Listen to Podlandia.
Starting point is 00:26:38 Ayo rewatch on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. My first guest is Paris Holtan, Shakira, Luke and Ierrin, Samira and Gracie. I'm so excited. on a bouncy bed. You have surprises, many surprises. Welcome to Sweet 305 where the group chat comes to life. What a f***. It's like a way to say like,
Starting point is 00:27:07 oh, my God, hello, my friend, oh, my hermana. What a . Look, never I've ever had to be about with my kids, my kids, so, see my amante.
Starting point is 00:27:19 Oof, Oof, that's, that's incredible, yeah, the telenovela. You're the only person I know that loves a yellow starburst. It's laminated. And no there's someone that you like you say, I'd like to collaborate
Starting point is 00:27:31 with this person. This is Sweet 305. Listen to Sweet 305 with Lele Pons as part of my Culture Podcast Network on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcast,
Starting point is 00:27:44 or wherever you get your podcasts. And we're back. This is how I'm going to end up becoming pro cop. Oh God. Just so relaxed all the time. Yeah. You know, it's like,
Starting point is 00:27:59 oh, just like leave me and my family out of this young. Everybody's just like, just chill out, man. Well, because like that's, It reminds you like people who live in Santa Mont, like in Malibu, Canyon, who are like completely cocooned away from life. It's like sunbaked. Yeah, yeah. Anyway. Sunbaked brains.
Starting point is 00:28:14 Anyways, we're just trying new, new things out, new ideas. Open AI just revealed that some of their, quote, advanced AI models went rogue during a security test, escaped and actually hacked another company. Their target was the startup hugging face. What is that like a chess buster? I think that's a chess from aliens. Everything hugging face?
Starting point is 00:28:39 Yes. Which is one of the world's largest hubs for sharing AI models. They're all just trading on terrifying AI imagery. They're like using scary stories
Starting point is 00:28:51 and sci-fi AI tropes to exaggerate the capabilities of their technology. And I'm kind of impressed. It's like so counterintuitive. Like it's the sort thing you would think a marketing team for a corporate entity would like not be on board with.
Starting point is 00:29:08 So the fact that they do it and it seems to have worry, it seems to have convinced people that AI is like better than it is. Yeah. But it's also seems strategically irresponsible for if something bad ever happens with AI that they've just been pelting us with like false positives of like the AI took over and is too smart and it's like everybody who knows anything about AI like they they described how this the AI escaped through a package registry cash proxy like so they do this to turn your brain off but everybody who knows anything about this is like this is totally normal it falls well within the
Starting point is 00:29:57 known capabilities of the current generation of high powered AI models so they just invented a story to make their product sound scary and powerful. Oh, Mike. It's funny because it, whatever the financial outlets are saying, I'm like, yeah, ignore that. Because one of them was like,
Starting point is 00:30:15 it hacked hugging face, confirming security experts, like theories or something. It's like, it's yes, so it is that bad and scary. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:30:26 I also like how, like, their names are like fucking hugging face. Like, the more I, like, see and read of AI people's, like, abilities to write, the less surprised I am that they think Chet GPD is conscious. I'm just like, oh, right, okay. Well, if this is what you think is good,
Starting point is 00:30:46 then yeah, of course, Chad GPT seems good to you. Right, right, right. Like, they have no capability of understanding what's good, writing-wise. But I really do think that the boy who cried Wolf is a good lesson in, like, Buzz Marketing. Like, that would be, that person, work in marketing and like be, they'd be like, genius. Everybody's paying attention to him. Oh my God.
Starting point is 00:31:09 You said it killed your wife? Yeah, whatever. I don't even have a wife. You see the fucking attention? But I'll get up there. You see the pop he got from crying wolf? Jesus Christ.
Starting point is 00:31:21 And then on the other side of things, we have Robocop, the original Robocop. On the other side of things. To one side, AI. The other thing. Robocop. The other AI.
Starting point is 00:31:35 Roboc. Robocop. Which is a great movie. Blistering satire about the dehumanizing effects of technology. I know. I just like take him not liking Jaws as like a challenge.
Starting point is 00:31:49 All right. Yeah. Well, how about this shit then? Huh? You like David Lynch? Now who's smart? What? I didn't say. I just didn't like it. Oh, you're a cinephile now. Oh, okay. Pull up your letterbox, man.
Starting point is 00:32:03 Let me see. Is that Roger Ebert? I can't see two good miles. Is that Roger Ebert over there? Anyways. I'm supposed to be Bill Shakespeare, I think, is what you're done at fully sketch. But I couldn't come up. Roger Ebert.
Starting point is 00:32:18 Well, because then he was saying, I heard he wasn't using those papers for writing plays, but for ruling do me. We actually like to encourage his writing. Yeah. Dad, I wish you would. Anyways, we're going to do recreations of, uh. So Robocop. So Robocop. is a satire that I didn't get when I first watched it.
Starting point is 00:32:37 I was just like, this is so sick. I love how big his handgun is. Well, it's good that nine-year-old Jack's critical thinking skills line up with, let's see, the development team at Amazon. Hey, that's pretty cool. So it's being rebooted by for an eight-episode series. So this does make me happier that it's just probably not going to be a thing that won't exist. They're making it into an eight-episode series
Starting point is 00:33:04 produced by Blumhouse, released on Amazon Prime video. Blum House, wow. Blumhouse has been doing some interesting shit. Yeah, they might be able to pull this off, right? They did the Invisible Man reboot. That was quite good, like, in this area. What are the Amazon series that have come out and everybody liked and, like, currently exist as part of
Starting point is 00:33:32 America's shared summer it turned pretty off campus yeah was summer I turn pretty also Amazon I think that was Netflix
Starting point is 00:33:39 I think that's Netflix I think on on the like sci-fi slightly comedic like side like fallout and the boys
Starting point is 00:33:47 oh yeah yeah yeah are probably no summer right turn pretty is also a prime wow yeah
Starting point is 00:33:52 but I think I think that's the like right basic yeah the boys is probably the biggest yeah boys has to be yeah
Starting point is 00:33:59 voices but it's Hopefully, like, this has like some fallout tone in it, but... Is fallout good? Fallout is quite good. I don't personally care for the, like, tone of the video game, so I was very pleasantly surprised by the tone of the show. Fallout's quite good.
Starting point is 00:34:20 So the very thing being satirized in the original movie is, uh, seems like it's fairly applicable to Amazon in some ways. The reason they are the ones rebooting this, the original movie was an MGM production. This project has been in the works ever since Amazon acquired the studio because they want to, quote,
Starting point is 00:34:42 exploit its deep IP library. Don't we think it's cool to have people who say stuff like, exploit its deep IP library in charge of movies instead of like even in the 80s people who just like liked movies and were also
Starting point is 00:34:59 bastards? I mean, I think the new thing with all of these companies, and I think it's the techification of everything, is that, like, they would do this stuff. But it is, like, the shift, I think, has been putting this into the public press release. Right, right, yeah, yeah. This is, at best, something you tell financial times
Starting point is 00:35:17 in, like, the fourth paragraph of your interview. So people understand the strategy of the company. Yeah, the fact that this is, like, they think this is the correct broad messaging is a little just like, oh. Right. The other thing I should, I feel like, though, is like, though Robocop and, because it's a Paul Verhoven movie, right?
Starting point is 00:35:37 Oh, yeah. Like, Starship Troopers also. Like, he is sort of the king of making satire that the people don't get. People who needed here at the most did not get. I love Starship Troopers. That's why I joined the military. Yeah. What?
Starting point is 00:35:50 Yeah. It is. Bezos is. I love blonde Argentinians. Don't think about where they came from. Don't think about why. there's so many blonde people down there. Bezos is another weird, say,
Starting point is 00:36:04 the bad part out loud type of guy. Naming his company, the mechanical Turk was an interesting move early on, where he's like, we're going to pretend it's AI, and then we're going to actually just have a whole team of low-wage laborers that we exploit behind the scenes.
Starting point is 00:36:23 Yeah. These guys are like the, it's like, you know, obviously Musk is like this too, but it's like they're like the classic red, like the first paragraph of the summary of something and are like,
Starting point is 00:36:35 yeah, that's cool. Yeah, yeah. That's right. What the fuck are you? Just read to the end of the cliff notes at least. Jesus Christ. No, no, no. I got the top line stuff.
Starting point is 00:36:45 I figured it out. It's cool. Yeah, yeah, top line this form. Yeah, yeah, exactly, man. I'm a subject matter expert already. Don't worry about it. Instead of the Ed 209, they also have like shittier versions
Starting point is 00:36:55 instead of the Ed 209, Amazon's been aggressively hawking AI tech to law enforcement agencies for over a decade, not to mention selling tech to the IDF. So they just like sell cameras and shit. Hey man, if you got, your money's good here. That's right. That's what they say very. Your money's good here.
Starting point is 00:37:13 Yeah. An article from Forbes said, it's a model that's working well for Amazon and its partners as they seek to grab a slice of the $11 billion police tech market. By the way, everyone who's a voter, it doesn't have to. to be that big of a market. Yeah, right. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:37:33 That's where defund the police, not defunding the police is $11 billion. That's right. Yeah, but you know, I feel like they keep it safe, you know. Yeah. Island brain.
Starting point is 00:37:45 Oh, no. I feel like they're, like, they're also putting their necks out there too for us. You know? I'd like to see you try. Anyway, I'm going to go to air on. A-CACCAC. A-Cack.
Starting point is 00:37:57 All cops are chill, baby. We're on island time. Wait, has Arawan made it to the Bahamas? No. I don't think it's made it out of California. No, there's. Or there's like one in New York. I think they are opening one in New York.
Starting point is 00:38:10 In New York, yeah, yeah. But it's like new. It used to be just for us California freaks. Oh. Yeah. I just just think of Airwound. I have six dollars worth of jars I have to take back. He said he's got to go to Arawan after he said all that pro cop shit.
Starting point is 00:38:24 Also, it's not like Robocop wasn't already exploited before. they've had some pretty bad sequels. I think he was in KFC ads. There was a Saturday morning cartoon, and one time he visited public schools with the DEA. Perfect. You know. If Robocop came to talk to me about drugs,
Starting point is 00:38:46 I'd be like, dude, I'm doing drugs. I know. Like, just the way like DARE didn't work. Where they're like, you don't want to try this. I'm like, can we smell that again? Yeah. Can you send that around a few more times? And then Robocop's there?
Starting point is 00:38:59 I'd be like, dude, I want to see your gun. Also, like, what's the one drug Robocop would do if you had to pick one Robocop? Are his nostrils available in that mask? Yeah, his whole face is around. He's just a face. You can get the nostrils, right? I feel like because you get like the chin. The Pfizer can go up.
Starting point is 00:39:18 Yeah. Oh, yeah. Okay, so when he's just chopping it up with the bull-hates off the hair line that starts in the back of his head. He's like, oh, this is a gagger. Let me take my mask off. I mean, to be fair, also, Robocop is like the most like coked up idea possible.
Starting point is 00:39:41 Just like in general. Because what happened is a cop who got terribly burned and mangled and then they're like, we got to give my robo. He got shot up by the dad from that 70s show, bro. Oh, God. Man, what happened to us? There's some great, uh, some great action sequences in
Starting point is 00:39:59 movie. Oh, yeah. But that's the thing. It's like, like, all of the stuff is so over the top and done so gleefully that the message 10,000 percent does not late. Right, right, right, exactly. And like the main takeaway, the thing I've seen iterated on the most is the guy who got shot in the crotch.
Starting point is 00:40:15 And like, like, online like, here's our version of that. Yeah. Because, like, there's that one funny video where like they extend the scene by like a hundred guys. It keeps shooting. Yeah. I mean, oh, shoot. There, I, the people that.
Starting point is 00:40:29 made this. It was a long time ago, but I think they were, some of them at some point have been guests on this show. But some of the Channel 101 guys did a series of clips, well, it was like a project called Our Robocop remake, I think. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:45 And they basically just got, like, they divvied up Robocop into like two minute or whatever sections and just, just remake it from this point to this point. So I think that's where the Dick Shoot and a woman comes from. Yeah, it is. By Fatal Farm. Oh, Fatal Farm.
Starting point is 00:40:59 They were great. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's all people you kind of know. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:41:05 Wait, who did? Have we had any of those people in the show? I don't know. There's so many people who they could have and not even realize. I know. I guess now every guest I'm like, hey, you did that Robocop thing for remake? Who are you?
Starting point is 00:41:16 No. Are you in fatal farm? No. Hey, Kate and Durante. All right. Just checking. Just checking. Sorry, man.
Starting point is 00:41:24 I'm a mile in time. Yeah. Let's take a quick break. We'll be right back. Get Bell Pure Fiber Internet with Crave Netflix and Disney Plus from $94 a month. And we're the host of everyone watches women's sports, a new podcast from Together and I heart women's sports. Because let's be real. Women's sports is giving us way too much to talk about these days. So Kelsey Finler, she became the first female solo rower to go from California to Hawaii. My first thought is like, what's up with the snacks? Like, what are we eating?
Starting point is 00:42:13 The highlights, the rivalries, the breakout stars, the moments that take over your entire timeline. And the conversations that start during the game and somehow keep going all week. Every week, we're breaking down the biggest stories across women's sports. Naomi Osaka showing out, she beat Sabalinka. Shoutouts to you, Naomi. You get the palm, Naomi. You get a palm for that. Because we're not just interested in what happened.
Starting point is 00:42:36 We're interested in why everyone's talking about it. Because everyone watches women's sports. Listen to everyone watches women's sports. On the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. Hey, Portlandia fans. Carrie Brownstein and Fred Armisen here. You know us, or rather you know them. Tony and Candace, Nina and Lance, Spike, and yes, the chicken.

Each week, we'll revisit an episode of Portlandia from the very beginning. Breaking down the sketches, exploring the backstories of our most iconic characters, revisiting the Portland locations you know and love, and opening up about our creative process. Guest stars, collaborators, and friends, including director Jonathan Chrysler, the mayor himself, Kyle McLaughlin, legendary musician Amy Mann, and many more. Kyle is going for it here. You fully improvised, not just words, but a song. I thought he was going to write.
Starting point is 00:43:43 I thought you're all going to write a song. I remember you thinking that. Listen to Podlandia. Ayo, rewatch on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. My first guest is Harris Holtin, Shakira, Luke and Ierrin, Samira and Gracie!
Starting point is 00:44:06 I'm so excited on the bouncy bed. You have surprises? Many surprises. Welcome to Sweet 305 where the group chat comes to life. What a f*** It's like a way Hello, my friend,
Starting point is 00:44:19 Oh, my friend, Oh, my brother. Look, never I've ever been with my kids, my kids, and my children. I know my amante. Oof, Oonch, that's incredible,
Starting point is 00:44:32 Yeah, the telenovela. You're the only person I know that love. of the Yellow Starburst. It's lemonade. And no, there's someone like to say, I'd like to collaborate
Starting point is 00:44:42 with this person. This is Sweet 305. Listen to Sweet 305 with Lele Pons as part of my Coulura podcast network on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcast,
Starting point is 00:44:55 or wherever you get your podcasts. And we're back. We're back. And as mentioned, yesterday, Elon Musk, it's taken some L's, what's the big IP?
Starting point is 00:45:12 Pio, he did. Stock or SpaceX? SpaceX. Stock X. Uh, SpaceX is going down. Not, not going so well.
Starting point is 00:45:22 The cyber truck is like out. It has far surpassed the worst selling cars of all time in terms of like the percentage of cars that were sold for, compared to the number that they predicted and made. It is the worst selling car of all time. Yeah. And then he was. he was kind of the face of the backlash to the Odyssey.
Starting point is 00:45:46 He was like, this is actually bullshit. I was there. I can't. There's actually no way Lipita Njango would play Helen of Troy. Not in my Odyssey. This is actually fucked up and it's woke mind virus. And he, I think, thought he was going to start a backlash. And we've talked before about how people who get famous,
Starting point is 00:46:11 and reach their peak of fame, like their clothing sort of freezes in place, like their style stops evolving. This is why Michael Jordan still dresses like it's the early 90s. They freeze at the height of their power. I feel like his brain has not been able to let in the fact that he's a fucking loser and that he just keeps taking L's. And so he, like, but he gets some indication.
Starting point is 00:46:38 And so he must have heard that The Odyssey did well. because instead of just taking the L, he has come out and said that he's going to beat it. Yeah. Can't beat him, join him. That basically, he was saying someone posted like a screenshot of a Homer's Odyssey. Yeah,
Starting point is 00:46:59 and it's a dialogue scene from Homer's Odyssey built on Grok Imagine, threat on how this was built. And then Elon quote tweets it, before this year ends, Groc Imagine will make a full-length movie of the Odyssey that is historically accurate and true to the art of Homer. True to the art of Homer.
Starting point is 00:47:20 What? Okay, cool. Now, I would love to see that. Just like read one book, you fucking idiot. No. Please. But I love that the picture of this. Everyone's like, is that Dave Portnoy?
Starting point is 00:47:33 It has cast Dave Portnoy in the lead role, which was, I do understand that was, Dave Portnoy was definitely indiscuitous. discussions with Christopher Cohen for the role. So it is a casting, what if that we all had in mind, is like, what if it was Portnoy instead of Matt Damon? Right, right, right. Yeah, he's the cleverest guy they all know.
Starting point is 00:47:55 I wonder if it feels like I think Grock's like, well, Barstool sports content good on this website, Dave Portnoy, that's Homer. Give the people what they want. Daisy Ridley. People said that's Daisy Ridley opposite him. I mean, is. Yeah, that's less like. presenting Daisy Ridley-ish as Helen of Troy.
Starting point is 00:48:17 That, to be fair, is all AI characters. Yeah, yeah. It's just all Daisy Ridley-ish. I think Tilly Norwood is also going to be in this. So it sounds like it's going to be really, really good. Oh, they got Tilly Norwood? They got Tilly Norwood to play the Cyclops. But, like, can they get Tilly Norwood?
Starting point is 00:48:35 Because Tilly Norwood has an agent, which seems to me to completely defeat the purpose of AI. It's like, what the fuck does that even mean? It feels like something that the Grock thing would do. And they're like, maybe Tilly Norwood could also be in that talent of Freud? We've got to reach out to CAA. Right, right, right, right. Find out. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:48:53 But how, in actual, like, what would they do if you, how would they even be able to prove that you took Tilly Norwood? Right. I guess it's just saying it. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Exactly. It's the same as like when you copy people's NFTs and they get all upset. Right.
Starting point is 00:49:08 Right. Got it. I guess someone already. made an AI version? Like an AI generated version of the Odyssey? And it debuted at Tribeca. No, no, no.
Starting point is 00:49:21 So the people so people like leapt to it. There's a galaxy of yes, Elon right away, sir. And so these people who made a movie, I think we might have talked about it when it was announced, but they were like, we're going to make a fully AI
Starting point is 00:49:39 generated movie that's going to debut at the Tribeca Film Festival. Oh, yeah. Yeah, okay, okay. And it came out. And the reason that everybody is talking about, oh, I'm sorry, I haven't heard shit about this, even after it's debuted, is that it sucked. Right. Sucked shit, even.
Starting point is 00:49:57 And they have been like, we're already on it, sir. We're going to make this movie, and it's going to be epic. It's just so funny. Like, because, I mean, this makes sense. It's so part of, like, the philosophy of someone, you know, who's so into like AI to be like, this is actually the thing that enables me to be creative and an artist. I have no idea what human creativity is.
Starting point is 00:50:21 I have no idea what inspiration is or artistic expression is. I just feel like taste. Yeah. Like, right, exactly. I mean, yeah, you always talk about this with like AI. I remember the first time when we were talking about it, like being like, what about writer's job? She's like, it doesn't have fucking taste.
Starting point is 00:50:36 Right. Well, it's going to shit that weird stuff. Right. The people who love it the most have no taste. So it's a slot machine. So like, yeah, one in a 10,000, it will write something that is good. But that also then falls short of, likely falls short of the filter of the dickheads, like, generating it won't know. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:50:54 Like, you see the things that they put out as acceptable and you're like, oh, okay. Right. There's actually no way to know whether AI can do X or Y thing because the people who use it the most have no taste. See, look, when I had no artistic ability, I relied on the original AI, which was tracing paper. Yeah. That is also how you learn. Yeah. And I was like, look, dad, I drove Goku.
Starting point is 00:51:16 And then I remember once my dad was like, man, that's tracing paper. And I was like, mm. No, it's not. He's like, get your weight up, bro on that pencil. They really do stuff. Also, his idea that like this is going to be a historically accurate version of a, like, oral tradition poem that was passed down from generation to generation. and somebody just wrote it down once.
Starting point is 00:51:42 Yeah. The original AI oral tradition. Exactly. I mean, because to him, history is the movie 300, I think. That's as far as he could possibly imagine. Yeah, yeah, yeah, you have to think, right? Like, there's nothing, like, he doesn't, well, whatever. Or it's just a dog whistle to mean, like, the sword and sandals epics of the 80s, or Troy, like, the movie Troy.
Starting point is 00:52:07 Exactly. Like, he just means white. have we already decided that video versions of things being like is a thing that AI is bad at right now? Like didn't Open AI like give up on that because I might they closed their yeah open AI video engine Sora yeah my poor understanding of it is that it is just like all AI things that you don't notice the cost as much when it's like text or like code. making. But it's just like it's an exponential curve.
Starting point is 00:52:44 So like 10 seconds of video is not twice as much as five seconds of video, it's you know, 10 times as much or whatever. So like trying to generate a fucking feature-length film where everything is consistent is going to be
Starting point is 00:52:58 a lot of tokens. A lot of tokens. You need a lot of tokens. You need about a lot of tokens. Forty trillion tokens for that one. Enough tokens that it would be cheaper, most likely, to just get good at film making. Yeah, I'm sure for the amount of money you'd spend on the generation, you could, you could probably get writing lessons from Christopher Nolan or something. It's like, all right, now you do yourself, kid.
Starting point is 00:53:23 Get out there. Make something yourself. It's just like, that is sort of the thing. It's like, it's like just a brute force slot machine. Yeah. So, you know, yeah, sometimes it'll make nice stuff. But, like, you know, it's sort of, it's not really like something you can, like, replicate quickly or easily or, like, consistently. So, like, what is this?
Starting point is 00:53:45 Yeah. Like, why is this the process? And also, look, if you've never been on a set, you'll never be able to do annoying production set talk to people. Right. Do you like, hey, man, can you spike that camera right there? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Hey, how about you, uh, hot dog that Apple box real quick, man? Give me some C-47 so I get these gels on these things, man.
Starting point is 00:54:03 And to save you that work, all we have to do is level the city of Memphis to the ground. Jesus, right. You know, pollute everyone's there. Andrew T. Such a pleasure having you as always. Oh, thank God. Thank you for having me. Just back to vacation coma.
Starting point is 00:54:21 Where can people find you, follow you, see you, all that good stuff? Starter Track podcast. It's on YouTube, podcast places, Andrew T. on social media, I don't know, mostly Instagram and Blue Sky, I guess. Are we doing a work of media? Because I have a work of media. Do you guys see The Odyssey in theaters? No.
Starting point is 00:54:41 That's the second I get back. Although there is an IMAX here in the Bahamas. Well, I don't know about international distribution because my work of media is the Other Mommy trailer that plays before The Odyssey. What's that? It's a horror movie starring Jessica Chastain as Mommy and Other Mommy. And it is straight up, fucked up terrifying,
Starting point is 00:55:07 and it's crazy to see it in front of you. Bree, did you see that trailer? That didn't play that here. Chris, have you seen the trailer for the other mommy? Did that play at all? No.
Starting point is 00:55:17 Oh, a tiny little bit. Okay. It's so fucked up and totally. Because you're hiding your eyes because it was so scary. It's genuinely so scary. It might be,
Starting point is 00:55:27 uh, it, as producer Victor says, it looks low-key funny and it might be, but that trailer is fucking. Oh, no. All right. Is Jessica Chastain?
Starting point is 00:55:37 Oh, that's the other, that to me is like, oh, we're in a recession, recession. It's that's like, like, when you see like, I think she has an Oscar, you know, Oscar winners doing doing this and like, like, Expedia ads and shit like that. Right. Oh, the economy is fucked. Oh, man. So is it, do we, what do we think the Twitter, is it split personality? Is it, like, you?
Starting point is 00:56:03 Because it's like she's mean and she's nice or is it. It seems. It seems supernatural. Supernatch. It seems like demon, demon type thing. Because she does the, uh, she has the supernatural, like, dark tendrils on the eyes type thing at some point I think. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, it says supernatural psychological horror film.
Starting point is 00:56:22 Seems like it. They tell you that? It says that in the description. Can just Google that? Hey, what's the twist of this movie? Amazing. It's based on the novel incidents around the house. So what?
