I am? No, you just sounded like high-pitched, like your voice was sped up. Yeah, I was. I was talking like that on purpose. So, okay. Yeah, yeah, so okay yeah yeah totally totally totally um let's tell the people some things that are trending on this friday afternoon it's the last commune acage uh before the weekend yeah so let's go out on a high note gang um comic-con is trending why is that uh they finally canceled it no no it's supposed to be

july 2021 oh no excuse me july 2020 uh but why what happened well they're scared you know they i think they were taking their time to see how things would pan out but joking coronavirus it's wild that it took them this long to uh it. That's big money, Jack. That's very big money. That is big money. You don't want to f*** with big money if you don't have to. Yeah, I've been saying that from day one whenever anybody tries to f*** with me.

Yeah. You know. So this is the first time it's been canceled in its 50-year history. I didn't realize it'd been around since 1970. I didn't know Michael Swaim, a frequent guest. Michael Swaim has been going since he was a baby

because he lived in San Diego. Yeah, it's definitely blown up. I think it's even harder now to get tickets to because it sells out so quickly and it's very expensive. It sounds, I have the opposite of interest in going there. I would rather be probably literally anywhere else on earth.

I think same. It just sounds so, so uncomfortable. And the things that you get to see are just things that, I don't know, you'll end up seeing anyways. Right. Maybe I need the right, you'll end up seeing anyways. Right. Maybe I need the right person to explain the appeal to me. Well, I also feel like anything that's even remotely released within an hour is on the internet. When they're like, ooh, special release.

Ooh, trailer. It's like, yeah, I know as soon as you know because social media moves a mile a minute. Yeah. In fact, I probably know soon as you know, because social media moves a mile a minute. Yeah. In fact, I probably know quicker than you because you're down stuck in a convention center where everybody is using their mobile phones. And so you have very little to no service and you can't get the information as quickly as I can sitting in my basement next to a lightning fast internet connection.

Right, right. And also, we're not like fandom people. I would bet, you know, for people who are into that kind of stuff, I'm sure it's really exciting, but it's not meant for

us two old ladies who just want to knit, you know? Tell it, girl. Is that what old ladies say? I don't know. I don't know. I'm a fake old lady.

Fiona Apple is trending. She's got a new album out that is very very good uh people love it i don't i can't fully judge an album after even a couple listens i need i need a little more time with this one but uh a lot of people are saying it's her best album uh in a career of really great albums uh i can already tell uh i like it a lot it's very good uh this seems to be like the women uh singer songwriter artists seem to be making the best music like for the past five years i feel like that's just that is the new reality i i also i mean i like this album i started listening to it last night i think she's had time to truly ruminate and just think you know and i i feel like this is the fiona apple we've

all been waiting for like she came back she was like i don't give a f**k i'm about to do this and i've had time to think so this this about to like truly like fetch the bolt cutters she's letting it all out baby and i i think i mean she's also fiona apples so she's a genius she's wild she's a genius but like i don't know it seems like every six months we get like a great album from a singer-songwriter who's a woman reminds me there's this gia tolentino essay in uh in her book trick mirror about uh how women are like specifically uh well equipped to deal with this kind of bewildering version of reality that we're all kind of we're all dealing with now where everything's mediated by social media

and I feel like men are just like what happened but women have had to be living lives in like a performative way they've had to perform femininity for their whole lives to be both human and performers at the same time. So they're uniquely suited to make sense of this, whereas men are just like, I'm scared.

It always reminds me of that line from Fleabag where Fleabag is talking to this uh woman uh and she literally says women are born with pain built in so because we have our periods we have to give birth like we are basically created to be ready to have to deal with bullshit like all times. And so it's like, okay, now I have to stay home because there is a global pandemic. Okay, well, I guess it's going to suck to be on my period during this, but you got to do what you got to do and you got to keep it moving. And that's how we are built, to just keep it the f***ing moving.

Laura Ingram and Dr. Phil are both trending. Laura had two doctors on her show last night. Okay. And she basically kept asking questions until she got the answer she wanted. The first doctor was Dr. Anthony Fauci, actual Dr. Anthony, actual Fauci. And she really wanted him to tell her

that this was all silly and we could just go back to normal. She asked him, you know, we didn't shut down the country for AIDS. I mean, I know you worked on that one. And that just kind of, that's not a problem anymore, right? And then she brought up another

infectious disease and he was like, he just kind of calmly explained very patiently uh why this disease is different why it's the most easily spreadable disease of all time basically and everyone's gonna catch it it's just a matter of when and how many people hit the hospital at once and she was like all right so that's enough out of you dr phil let's ask you and dr phil uh said that you know what she wanted to hear that uh lots of people die every day from lots of different stuff and we don't shut down the economy for those things um and talked i think

he specifically mentioned like car accidents and people dying in swimming pools and his statistics. You'd think that even though it's a completely unfounded argument, you'd think that he would have gotten the statistics right about car accidents, but he didn't even get those right. And anyways, the truth is more people are dying every day from coronavirus than any other cause in these United States. And also there's the fact that car accidents are not contagious the last time that most people checked. And so this is, like Dr. Fauci said, the most remarkably contagious virus that we've seen. So that's why it's overtaken the globe within a couple months.

Shit, man. Yeah, it's like Dr. Phil. People just don't want to hear that yeah it's like Dr. Phil watched Goofy Movie and he just keeps being like I don't know if you've seen Goofy Movie but that guy's just killing people left and right so what's the big deal

yeah guys that's a good reminder to listen to Goofy Movie we talked about it on this morning's episode but that is our first Daily Zeitgeist Movie club rewatch movie. We're going to discuss it on Monday's episode. It's a lot of fun. Yeah, so go watch it wherever you can.

But yeah, just be ready to watch a lot of carnage. I'll just put that out there. And finally, there's just all this Reopen America stuff happening. Florida Beach is reopened. The governor of Texas is reopening for business while canceling school for the rest of the year. Trump told Minnesota and Michigan

to emancipate themselves. Like, he's really... What? I don't know. He really wants to start a war, it seems like. It's wild. It's wild. Because he just knows that it's.

What would happen if. He just wants the people who follow him to announce their loyalty in the most pure way possible, I guess. By leaving the country? No. loyalty in the most pure way possible, I guess. By leaving the country? No, by, I think, rising up and fighting on his behalf. Oh, I see. Okay, okay. I got you, I got you. Very scary stuff.

Very scary stuff. We have a very, very worrisome leader in the White House, in my humble opinion. No, you don't say. I do sometimes kind of wish California would leave. We got the economy. We would have the fifth,

we have the fifth biggest economy, but you know how quickly America would invade us and just take all our stuff? Oh, I didn't even think about that. It would be over. Oh, God. We would get invaded so fast.

They would send their troops in. Yeah. Immediately. California's army would all just be so chill. Yeah, it wouldn't be great. That's devastating now that you can put it in that light. Oh, damn. Yeah. Oh, darn. It would be bad.
