Starting point is 00:02:04 Hello, the internet, and welcome to this episode of Devil's Trendbone. In honor of the devil's backbone, scariest water slide in Bahamara, which we're still here. Is there a second or last episode coming to you from the Bahamas, from Island Time? It's early Island Time. It's early. You may hear it in our voices. Yeah, we just woke up. Hey, that's the devil's backbone. That motherfucker has skulliosis.
Starting point is 00:02:41 Because that thing is twisty. You think there's a spinal doctor who looks at the thing? I might need a spinal doctor after going on that thing because it banged me around. The first time it banged me around, and then as I was saying, I kind of went with the water. I had accessed. I went with the water. I accessed my James Cameron. and I followed the way of the water.
Starting point is 00:03:04 Sure, sure. The second time, and it was really much easier. Oh, okay. So, you know, the Zen masters might be on to something. Yeah, the first time I was like, God, no! That's the Dow Day Devil's backbone. Dow Day Devil's Backbone.
Starting point is 00:03:20 Yeah, yeah, yeah. My name's Jack O'Brien. That over there is Mr. Miles Gray. Yes, yes, yes. Counting the days down, the hours down. Yeah, we're at hours now. Yeah, yeah. And we are thrilled to be joined in our third seat by Super Producer Ana Hosnia.
Starting point is 00:03:38 Cheerio. There it is. There you, man. All right. All right. Yeah, all right. All right. All right.
Starting point is 00:03:44 Remember that SNL sketch that was like Bill Hader and it was just like indecurable English? Indeclible British. Oh, you do all right. Hey, you want to go. Oh, no. All right. Oh, no. Oh, no, man.
Starting point is 00:03:57 You're trying to do that same, me. And I think canceled Russell. brand is in it, but anyway. Hey, man, he was really, he was really a thing there for a little while. Hey, man, he really was. And we're, I'll tell you what's trending. We're bringing Russell Brand back.
Starting point is 00:04:13 No. That guy. What's trending? What are we talking about? We're talking about, um, what else? My Marinera addiction? Oh, we're going to say that for the regular episode.
Starting point is 00:04:26 That's a trender. You guys really wanted to talk about this. You think I might have a problem. Well, Jack, this is two meals Anna and I have had with you where you've summoned multiple bowls of a pommodoro sauce for a pasta dish that already had sauce. You go, can I get some mariner on the side? Yeah. And then once that goes out, you're like, I'm sorry, can I get a little bit more mariner on the side? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:52 I went through two dippers. It was like this, but wasn't it when we went to dinner in Los Felas at one time, there was like the first one wasn't adequate. And Jack had been like, I'm sorry. I'm going to need like a lot more. Let me speak on my own. Okay. On behalf of my client. Okay.
Starting point is 00:05:08 The prosecution rests. I do have an addictive personality and I do love mariner sauce, maybe a little bit too much. It's my favorite. I don't feel like I have pizza if the pizza doesn't have some red sauce on it. That's just call me crazy. The first one, the first time we ate at this restaurant. that shall remain unnamed. We don't remember the name.
Starting point is 00:05:36 Because I have no idea what it was named. Ilforno? No, no, no. Anyway, just start saying names. Yeah, just a couple Italian words that I vaguely remember. It was, look, it was Tamboli's pasta and pizza. Let's just put it that. Miles Tamboli.
Starting point is 00:05:52 But they had a pizza that claimed marinara sauce, which is the first thing I'm checking for when I'm ordering a pizza. I ordered it. it came with my least favorite thing is when they just slice up regular tomatoes on it. Oh, that's right. Yeah, it was like, you know, the raw tomato. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So I was like, hey, just like, did I get the wrong pizza?
Starting point is 00:06:15 She was like, sorry, we were out of marinera sauce or something like that. She probably say that. Kind of a vital ingredient. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And then she's like, oh, you're one of these particular guys. She was giving me shit. Oh, you like things as described in a menu, huh? I asked for some marinara sauce on the side, and it was a delight.
Starting point is 00:06:36 And so last night, which is weird, though, how did, how was there no marinerer for your pizza, but then suddenly? Miles, their story fell apart pretty quickly. And I chose not to prosecute the case in the moment, and not a day goes by that I don't. Your son would not have let that slide. I've seen him ask pointed questions at animal encounters, really good ones, too. Like, even getting experts caught up. Yeah, my kids are, the. the zoo
Starting point is 00:07:00 get the zoo hosts and the best ones we went to go see this like shark tank with like fish and stuff and they're like and the guy was like there's only these are the only
Starting point is 00:07:11 predatory fish and he's like but the other fish do but he's like sorry but these fish are eating like krill and stuff so how are they not predatory? Right.
Starting point is 00:07:19 And he's like well uh but you said these are the only predatory fish like well I mean it's different because they're omniv thank you anyway my son's really
Starting point is 00:07:29 annoying. No, I love it. He reminds me of me where it's like, he has to get, he has to have the answer satisfying. For us, the knowledge base is not complete. Yeah. I respect that. So then cut to the, he means well. Cut to last night. Cut to last night.
Starting point is 00:07:45 My son ordered butter pasta and he runs in the family. Was like, could I get some marinera sauce on the side? Because those were the two options. It was Pomodoro. It was a Pomodoro. It was a palmydoro. I like your wife kept being like, it's Pomodoro.
Starting point is 00:07:58 And it is a, Good. It is a famous Pomodoro sauce. And he dipped his pasta in it a little bit and was done. And then I was like, well, I put that over it. Give that here. My pasta dish doesn't have my rinar on it. And so I started dipping every single nocky that I ate into the marinerar sauce. And I got to say, I have no regrets.
Starting point is 00:08:18 No, no, not at all. Aside of marinerer. You say Naki. Naki. I say nooki. Newoki. I say knocky. Yeah, I know. I heard you say that at the restaurant. I was sort of like, hey, man.
Starting point is 00:08:29 I get some of that ganache, ganache. The marineria ganaki guys back. But, yeah, I also do not approve of, what's it called? The little squid, fried squid. Calamari? I don't approve of calamari being served without marinera sauce. That's a marineria dipping sauce. A frito Misto.
Starting point is 00:08:52 A fridomisto. Wow. That's just, and that's just how I am. I guess I'm old-fashioned. Yep. I hear you. I guess I'm a little fucked up. All right.
Starting point is 00:09:04 What else is going on? Let's talk about Pete Higgs-Saf, guys. What's happening? So harsh on others. His brand is basically took over the military and started treating everybody in the military like a gym teacher calling everyone else Sally.
Starting point is 00:09:22 Right. You know what I mean? Soft. Yeah. Hey, Susie, you want to get over here and show me some push-ups? We need more. testosterone, everyone. Literally.
Starting point is 00:09:31 So people, and he's also dropping these videos of himself working out. Can't stop. He's like, I've got to show the people how strong I am. But he is in such a bubble of, you know, yes-manism that he does not realize that he looks like shit when he's working out. Like, when I see him as, like, a non-fitness expert in any respect, I'm like, something's all. That's not how, that's not how those exercises are supposed to go. I don't like Kimmler's legs, Miles.
Starting point is 00:10:09 I don't like those legs. I don't like the leg. Well, because I feel like every time we've had a steady flow of videos of him working out. Can't stop posting him. And usually, like, on like, like, liberal Twitter, it's like the last five reps, so it looks extra sloppy. And then the other says like, you gotta see the whole thing where it looked like shit the whole time.
Starting point is 00:10:29 Yes. And that's where, yeah, for such a tough guy, you're like, yeah, you gotta actually get your form right, get your form right. Yeah. And so there's actually fitness instructors, like military fitness instructors, the sort of
Starting point is 00:10:45 people who would enforce this are coming through and being like, none of his reps are good. Like, he's He's doing, he just posted a push-up, pull-up challenge with RFK Jr. RFK, their main complaint is he's wearing jeans the whole time, which is just like, what the fuck are you doing? That's how you know they're military. Their first thing is like, first of all, he's got jeans on.
Starting point is 00:11:08 I mean, that's, I think that's military. That's also just gym, gym etiquette, but he insists. You weren't jeans at the gym yesterday? Those are jorts. Okay. They were very, very, the cutoffs. The cut is high. Above the name.
Starting point is 00:11:24 They do seem athletic. We got inches above the name. Wait, who are the people like, so there, did a news outlet be like, hey, you need to check these out? What is your assessment as someone who does boot camp? Because I remember there was that one clip when he was working out and you could hear one of the drill instructors be like, one, one, one. In the very first rep, he's like, all the way down, all the way up, Pete. Yeah. You can hear him in the background.
Starting point is 00:11:51 So this guy from the Atlantic, not always my favorite outlet. I don't subscribe to them, so I couldn't read the whole article, but Mediaite did, you know, kind of summarize it for us. He wrote an article called Pete Hegseth.
Starting point is 00:12:08 You call that a pull-up? And he went and spoke to the sort of people who like go to boot camp and are like, soft body, you know, yell at people. call them Sally, tell them that their form sucks. And he's like,
Starting point is 00:12:26 Hegstff's push-ups wouldn't pass muster in any branch of the military. Oh. The results are a no-go in military parlance. The guy's got Hegstaffdrangement syndrome, probably, you know? Former Navy SEAL, Stu Smith. What does that guy know about a push-up? He's written a series of books about how to qualify
Starting point is 00:12:49 for the special forces. told the Atlantic he wouldn't comment specifically on Hexas video because he doesn't evaluate the performance of people unless they ask. But he said he stresses to a student the importance of going all the way down and all the way up. All right. Whether it's a pull-up, push-up, revenge, press. Nothing can stop me. I'm all the way up. All the way up.
Starting point is 00:13:08 And down. So, yeah. And then other retired brigadier general, Mauree LaBeouf said she would have failed him. Maureen LaBeough. The both. Oh, fuck,
Starting point is 00:13:22 yeah. The beef. Yeah. She's here to bring it. She doesn't give a fuck about some beef. No, no. She also held a position at West Point known as Master of the Sword. Is that a He-Man character?
Starting point is 00:13:34 What is master of it? See, that's the kind of thing that if I knew as a kid, I'm like, yeah, I'm going in the military. Yeah. I want to be Master of the Sword. You're just the head of the Department of Physical Education. That's, oh, okay. That's still pretty.
Starting point is 00:13:47 So head PE teacher. I can understand. As somebody who should. would be considered a, you know, register, should have to register his body as a weapon. I understand calling the master of physical education, the master of the sword. Lubbeth says she would have failed him.
Starting point is 00:14:01 She said that nothing she saw from the defense secretary in that video would have counted if she had been the grader, would have counted. And she has graded thousands of such tests. His pull-ups or chin-ups and the kicking that he does, you would never allow that. Again, don't like his legs, Miles. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:20 You'd stop someone. you'd say, okay, you're done, but he just keeps kicking, and it's not a good look. Again, it looks, does not pass the eye test. Yeah. I just, these people are just so thoroughly
Starting point is 00:14:35 and profoundly full of shit in a way that is just so evident for everybody to see. Yeah, yeah, well, it's always the projection of power or the influence when you're just hiding, you're hiding your forefirm. They've been the ember with no clothes
Starting point is 00:14:49 for like a full year, but like everybody, you know, the mainstream media is just like, is the emperor wearing no clothes more to let, you know, you can't say that they're not wearing clothes. All right. Let's take a quick break. We'll be right back. There's no shortcut for saving time, but saving money is simple. Just combine your car and home insurance with Bel Air Direct and save.
Starting point is 00:15:15 Get a quote at bellairdirect.com. I'm Munga Shat Together and I'm back with a new season of the podcast, Skyline Drive. This time I'm diving into a rabbit hole of peptides, organoids, blood boys, blue zones, and brain replacement to try to understand what this longevity obsession is all about and what it really means to live forever for all of us. I learned about some rad science. I can make a brain for you and then we can test what draw is the best for your brain, as opposed to his brain.
Starting point is 00:15:51 Here are some hard truths. I would expect Indians to age faster, but I did not. not expected to be almost a four to five year acceleration. And get myself into a world of trouble. I'd say probably start bone smashing. That doesn't work. Make it look more defined. They say it works.
Starting point is 00:16:10 I don't know. Listen to Skyline Drive, How to Live Forever on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. We've all been there. We've had seasons that have shaken everything. The question is, what remains when the shaking stops? Hi, I'm Gary Valenciano. And on my podcast, Unshaken with Gary Vee,
Starting point is 00:16:35 I sit down with amazing personalities and we talk about the seasons that nearly broke them, the lows that carried them to their highs. Listen to Unshaken with Gary V on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. This is Michael Rappaport, and my podcast, the I Am Rapaport Stereo Podcast, is unlike anyone you've ever heard.
Starting point is 00:17:01 We're a variety show, and if you're looking for strong opinions, funny opinions about sports, entertainment, politics, pop culture, and whatever else catches my attention, then subscribe now. This kid, Jafar Jackson, is as good as Rami Malik as Freddie Mercury,
Starting point is 00:17:19 and it's as good as Timothy Shamaulay as Bob Dylan. And I say that with love and respect for both of those actors. And I don't know how many. Oscar nominations they give out, I don't know if it's five, six for best actor, 150% this kid Jafar Jackson should absolutely positively get nominated for his portrayal as Michael Jackson. Listen to I Am Rap Report on the I Heart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. And we're back. We also got a story earlier this week where Hunter Biden said that Washington is run by, Do you say a closeted gay mafia?
Starting point is 00:18:07 Yeah. It was on the I've had it podcast with Jennifer Welch that he went on. Yeah. That was the show was on? Yeah. God, that is such a good show. To have Hunter Biden on and to let him say that. It's just like funny when you look at this screencast, like they're sitting down and what
Starting point is 00:18:22 he's saying is quote, everybody knows there's like this closeted gay mafia, largely Republican that exists in Washington, D.C. And everybody knows every single one of them who's gay. Okay. And everyone knows that every single one of them. Every reason that this. Again, this shit sounds like elementary. Hold on, Hunter. Then it goes, the only reason that this is relevant is because I believe that internal conflict creates so much vitriol inside a person that they take it out on the rest of the world. And so what they do
Starting point is 00:18:48 is their whole lives, they've been closeted. So you have this like black ball inside yourself, this like blackened heart by the fact that you can't be who you want to be. And so you take it out on everybody else. These men, largely men, have done exactly that. And there are, everybody knows who they are. Everybody. So I don't. Yeah. I mean, I've heard rumors. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, dang, look, they have a little thing that says the studio at Bahamara. You just saw that.
Starting point is 00:19:12 Yes, true. Has that been there a whole time? Yeah. Oh, God. Jack has just been completely distracted by a TV screen in the studio that says, the studio welcomes the Daily Zikeast. Yeah. That's so nice.
Starting point is 00:19:22 It's been up for days. I've been locked into the dock. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, which I understand, right? When I first heard, he said, closet of gay mafia, I was like, uh-oh. like this dude has gone off the rails. Oh, like, where is he going with this?
Starting point is 00:19:37 Yeah, yeah, yeah. Because, like, you'll hear people say that sort of thing about, like, Hollywood right before they just, like, go off. Right, right. The deep end and, like, need to be institutionalized. And, uh, but this seems a little bit more in line with, like, what you hear from people in, yeah, who are familiar with the Republican Party.
Starting point is 00:19:58 He then went on the Don Lemon podcast and was like, I'm not naming names. Are you asking me if Stephen Miller is gay? Are you asking me if Mike Johnson is he He's like, I'm not going to answer that. You literally just said they were gay essentially to everyone. Are you asking me that? Because I'm not going to answer it.
Starting point is 00:20:19 Hey man, stop asking me if Stephen Miller is secretly gay this whole time. I straight up didn't say that. I didn't say that. So wait, you're asking me if Lindsay Graham about him? Look, I don't know. Lindsay Graham was the one that I feel like everybody knows, right? That was the one that was widely reported all the time. I did not know.
Starting point is 00:20:35 I had not heard Stephen Miller. I had not heard Mike Johnson. I mean, Mike Johnson, a lot of people were like, interesting. It's just so interesting what he chooses to share, if that's true, because he, but that, that does kind of make sense of his covenant eyes thing. For new listeners, Mike Johnson had this weird thing where he was, like, bragging about how he and his son are in this like dead man switch it was like a porn monitoring app they installed on their phones to be like to keep accountability to each other for not looking at salacious material on the
Starting point is 00:21:13 internet where if you look at porn it gets sent to your son yeah and vice versa yeah yeah yeah which is like the weirdest thing that i can possibly imagine and he was like bragging about it being like yeah so that's so in that respect it feels like oh okay so this is somebody who's like trying to fit in yeah yeah he's like i'm sexually active yeah uh and my son knows about and i'm also yeah but just like way the fuck off it didn't work it didn't work didn't work it didn't work anyway should we talk cal she cal she just launched uh their midterm hub which will allow people to gamble on the upcoming election. They're trying very hard to seem like a legit news outlet.
Starting point is 00:21:59 They've got a whole CNN style map and everything. Democrats have an 82% chance to control the house, according to Kalshi, which I want somebody to do, like I just tried this this morning, but it's hard to figure out in a half-ass internet research way how accurate the markets are because there's just too much more. I'm Googling from within, like on the American internet,
Starting point is 00:22:31 obviously the internet's going to be like, yes, very accurate, actually, sir. Very accurate. You should spend your money here. But like I want somebody to do a scientific analysis. Like, how do these markets compare in terms of predictions with Vegas, with, you know, that octopus that predicts the World Cup? Yeah, yeah. know what I mean. But anyway, because I, like literally this morning, I went to Kalshi to see what the latest is on LeBron.
Starting point is 00:23:02 Because, and this is a weird thing. Wait, why are you so into, wait, why are you looking at Cali? Just to see, like, where you think people, the money is going? Yes. So it's, there's a weird assumption that's become baked into this, which is that people with inside information are gambling on it. And so with regards to LeBron, so we're recording this before LeBron has announced where he's going next year. He went, the odds earlier this week were heavy Cleveland.
Starting point is 00:23:32 Really? And then in the past couple days, it switched to heavy Miami. And in another world, I'd be like, oh, like, there must be just like, it must be something in the mainstream media or something.
Starting point is 00:23:45 But with this, because it's a corrupt market, you kind of have to assume that there's, somebody with inside information. That the numbers are, yeah, being nudged by someone who absolutely knows. It does become a very useful tool in some respects. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:24:01 We'll see. Maybe it's not going to go. I don't know if we talked about it, but last week, the teleprompter, Trump's teleprompter got busted for making almost a hundred grand on like, like, prediction markets about his speeches, but this is the guy who loads the teleprompter. Like, I feel like you could make a lot of money on Calci, just like, if you have access to seeing when somebody randomly makes a huge bet on like what the first word of Trump's state of the union speech is going to be you'd be like well that motherfucker knows something yeah that's
Starting point is 00:24:30 Stephen Miller for sure yeah yeah well I mean it seems like because now like the like the CFTC does like look into those things but probably just at lower levels like if you're you know George Santos yeah you're going to get busted if you're the teleprompter guy the teleprompter operator is going to get busted your RFK Junior. You're fine. Yeah. Yeah. You're skating. Um, anyways, uh, it, I think it's an interesting tool. I think it's bad for the world. No, right, but it's like, it gives you a looking like, what's the black market saying? Yeah, exactly. Like this unregulated market where I think everybody's probably playing that same game and trying to like read the tea leaves and be like this is a big bet.
Starting point is 00:25:12 So we're going to like, all the money is going to start like kind of avalancheing in that direction. Um, but one detail, people are like, it's illegal to bet on an election that you then vote in. Right, right, right. You have for, yeah, because you're, yeah, you can't bet on a sports, sporting event that you participate in. So, like, this is obviously on a much lower level, but that's actually in the, you know, fine print.
Starting point is 00:25:44 It says the Wisconsin Elections Commission warn voters that state law prohibits, people from voting in an election in which they have made or become interested directly or indirectly in any bet or wager depending on the result of the election. Right. And then Kalshi's fine print says voters who make bets on elections could be subject to voter qualification administrative challenges and even be referred to the district. Oh yeah. Every degenerate, the words every degenerate gambler fears the most. Yeah. What's that? No. I can be subject to voter qualifications. and administrative challenges and could be referred to the district attorney.
Starting point is 00:26:22 Well, well, I'm certainly not going to throw all my money away on LeBron going to whoever is going wherever. Yeah, yeah. Oh, man. Well, I mean,
Starting point is 00:26:30 I wonder how this is like working. I'm really curious how this business deal works out for like all the news networks that are like integrating this. Right. Because CNN, it was the real one to be like, yeah, this is kind of part of our model now to just be like,
Starting point is 00:26:42 but for them, it feels more of like a publicity PR thing to embrace Kouchi in their news coverage. rather than like, looking, like, peeling it back a little bit and be like, no, people who have access to information are trying to monetize that in an immoral way. Yeah. Anyway. Where do you think LeBron's going personally? I mean, based on-on-coaching.
Starting point is 00:27:05 Based on your heart. Based on my heart. Heart. Based on your heart. I hope he's to Cleveland, man. Like, Miami. I think he's going to Miami. I think so, too.
Starting point is 00:27:15 But, like, he's reenact. Where do you want to retire? Cleveland or Miami? Definitely Cleveland. No. First of all, he's not, he doesn't live there. He doesn't even have to, like,
Starting point is 00:27:26 I know, but I just, he doesn't even have to have an apartment there. He can, like, leave after games on his private jet. Just narratively speaking, though. Excuse me. Sorry,
Starting point is 00:27:37 I'm getting choked up. Getting reclaimed. This is, as a LeBron fame, lifelong, like, love LeBron. One of the hardest moments
Starting point is 00:27:47 was the decision. decision. Not because, like, it just, like, he didn't, I think respect his, I was glad he was going somewhere where he could, you know, win and Cleveland was not a good organization at the time.
Starting point is 00:28:01 They were not building a winner around him. But it was just like, the way it was handled was shitty. And so to, like, bring that back. Like, those aren't, like, the best thing he ever did was go back to Cleveland and win and win. Yeah. Like, that's,
Starting point is 00:28:15 that is his moment. That's his, like, you know Jordan championship yeah so it's just a
Starting point is 00:28:23 you want it for the emotional story from the narrative yeah and I want it for like the beach side well and I also don't think Miami's gonna be
Starting point is 00:28:32 good is my problem like my they're going to be honest they're gonna have Janice Bam and LeBron none of who can really shoot yeah yeah
