Starting point is 00:01:44 It's Space Gem. There are no roads. Good point. So where are we headed? the cosmos but we've lost our map yeah because you refuse to ask for directions it's space gem there are no roads good point so where are we headed into the unknown of course join us on in our own world as we uncover hidden truths navigate the depths of culture identity and the human spirit with a hint of mischief one episode at a time buckle up and listen to in our own world on the iheart radio app apple podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts. Trust us, it's out of this world. Hello, the internet, and welcome to this episode of Don't trend so, don't trend so, don't trend so close to me. Yeah, we harmonized beautifully.
Starting point is 00:02:22 That is, of course, DJ Danil. Hello. Super producer. Thank you. And I am Jack. And this is What's Trending. Nice. Do it.
Starting point is 00:02:37 Sing it, baby. Let's see. So Marjorie Taylor Greene has been trending quite a bit over the past few days. The Republicans in the House were asked to remove her from all her various committee assignments. And of course, being Republicans, they immediately started like negotiating and being like, all right, we'll remove her from that one, but we'll put her on this one. And look, we're doing you a favor because we're not throwing Liz Cheney out of the party for criticizing Trump. That was a dope move that they did that totally worked because the articles about them refusing to remove Marjorie Taylor Greene were also about how they didn't choose to kick Liz Cheney out of the party, which is chef's kiss of Overton window manipulation. Yeah, and I feel like, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:03:35 I feel it's just, it feels, as with all things with the Republican Party, this feels like a slow motion car crash where we're kind of waiting for them uh to do the right thing or like kind of cleave uh sort of steer things in a direction that is good for the future of the country right and they're just never i don't know i they're never on it they they're never gonna do that uh i also think that like you know while and this is something that we've talked about now throughout the entire donald trump um the donald trump era basically was
Starting point is 00:04:11 how so much of politics was based on like decorum and like having shame or or having any sort anything that would like make you not act in a certain way and since that veil has been dropped where democrats are trying to at least pick up a little bit of that decorum and be like come on let's get back to it republicans are doubling down with people like marjorie here yeah i mean i like diner food as much as everybody but the whole country is reliant on norms and that's oh my god so that's a that was a play on words there
Starting point is 00:04:51 because Norms is a diner out in LA and so yeah because Norms yeah you get it probably um ah yeah oh you're just getting it yeah this is slow you couldn't quite shut up it's uh it's one of those growers i'm still just i'm still just
Starting point is 00:05:28 is one of those growers i'm still just i'm still just lapping it up right now oh yeah baby lap it oh my gosh um so now the democrats are gonna have to actually do something um the yeah that's not good uh but i i do think they are gonna you know remove her from uh committees. Meanwhile, on the right, they have their own House representative that they're waging a war on. They got the hashtag AOC lied trending because just to put it in perspective, Marjorie Taylor Greene is, you know, the Democrats are mad at her because people revealed that she's been calling for the execution of some of the people in the Democratic Party. Easy.
Starting point is 00:06:18 You know, reiterating anti-Semitic things, saying anti-Semitic things, and claiming that some of the biggest tragedies in modern American history, like the shooting at Sandy Hook and other school shootings, were staged. Yeah. So that's what she's in trouble for. The right, on the other hand, is mad at AOC because they think that her story about what happened when people broke into her office and were trying to violently confront her. They think her story doesn't make sense. I guess they're arguing about the geography of the capital based on
Starting point is 00:07:07 nothing like knowing nothing um yeah it was and also this is like right after she spent two hours like pouring her heart out about literally yeah about how scared she was what the experience was like her own uh experience being an assault survivor uh and yeah they immediately you know uh as as they are want to do uh decide to go after her and candace owens uh is trending because she did a she did that she was like oh of course aoc lied uh here's a picture of her like posing in front of a uh chain link fence at a parking lot uh and pretending it is at a uh detention facility um which was like a right wing meme their their whole world is just so uh just like paper thin it's so like all it takes is a single search and it will be debunked but as a right-wing person who i was arguing with online told me do your own research uh which it means uh don't use any sources and just make facts up that's what i
Starting point is 00:08:29 think they believe do your own research means that's nonsense fun people this just my i don't know it's a grasping at straws just uh i don't know i would hope that i don't know i don't know it's just it's just so shitty that there's like nothing that we can directly do about that. It's like, because we respect the decorum and the, the, you know,
Starting point is 00:08:54 the many diners of the world, the norms. Hey, look, I like diner food as much as anybody. Do I have to do it again? It's just a shame. It's just,
Starting point is 00:09:03 it's just a shame. That joke or what you're telling me? Shut up. I meant to. I did not give a complete list. I don't think we have time to give a complete list of her offenses. But she's not just anti-Semitic. She's also racist and Islamophobic.
Starting point is 00:09:23 So, yeah. Deep deep problems let's talk about why i quit is trending um because this is so there's uh we talked tomorrow about how there's cratering support for donald trump running again in 2024 uh which is like the only thing that's made me happy. That's from Republicans. They used to be 65% wanted them to run, and now it's 45%. I mean, it's still
Starting point is 00:09:54 way too many people. It is still way too many people, but 45%. SAG AFTRA, the Actors Union, was going to review Donald Trump's membership and probably kick him out for just being a human monster. And so, you know, I think a lot of people have been like, what's this dude up to? Where is he?
Starting point is 00:10:21 He's obviously, you know, planning his defense with regards to his second impeachment. And so we got something issued from the desk of President Donald J. Trump, as he still refers to himself. I think all presidents do that. It says the office of Donald J. Trump, and it has like a presidential seal at the top. It says the office of Donald J. Trump and it has like a presidential seal at the top. Sorry. But this says,
Starting point is 00:10:49 Ms. Kateris, I write to you today. So he's trying to get out in front of them firing him. I write to you today regarding the so-called disciplinary committee hearing aimed at revoking my union membership. Who cares! Exclamation point.
Starting point is 00:11:04 Well, clearly you do. You would seem to have bigger fish to fry. Then he goes on. Well, I'm not familiar with your work. I don't know. The union or the union boss that he's referring to? Not clear. He says, I'm very proud of my work on movies
Starting point is 00:11:24 such as home alone 2 zoolander and wall street money never sleeps and television shows including the fresh prince of bel-air saturday night live and of course one of the most successful shows in television history the apprentice to name just a few exclamation point uh i've also greatly helped the cable news television business, said to be a dying platform with not much time left until I got involved in politics, end parentheses, and created thousands of jobs at networks such as MSDNC.
Starting point is 00:11:57 I love that. Wow. And Fake News CNN. Wow. Fake News CNN, I'll capitalize so that it is their proper title. Among many others. Which brings me to your blatant attempted
Starting point is 00:12:11 free media attention to distract from your dismal record as a union. Your organization has done little for its members and nothing for me, besides collecting dues and promoting dangerous un-American policies and ideas as evident by your massive unemployment rate lawsuits. These, however, are policy failures.
Starting point is 00:12:35 Your disciplinary failures are even more egregious. I no longer want to be associated with your union as such. This letter is to inform you of my immediate resignation from sag after you have done nothing for me regards president donald j trump uh yeah man he he doesn't need them uh he didn't get fired he quit you yeah yeah you can't fire me i quit i you know what this is just i i um i love that we are at the point where this really doesn't matter. You know what I mean? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:09 Like, it's truly a piece of paper with words on it that affects nobody. Right. I'm just glad we are at that point again so that we can look at this and, like, it's not the kind of laugh you do where it's like, ha ha, I could die because of this. Right.
Starting point is 00:13:23 But it's just, like, oh, it's so great. It's this right but it's just like oh it's so great it's it's like it's just pure uh candy him without without any consequences which i i would love if this was his new mo just going forward he just uh litigated petty like insults that he received from people online and just yeah that was just what he did send official letters to people who criticize him online anyway please
Starting point is 00:13:56 MSDNC bitch he got him boom roasted Chrissy Teigen is trending He got him. Got him. Boom roasted. Chrissy Teigen is trending. Yes. She told a story about a
Starting point is 00:14:14 heroic waiter who scammed her and John Legend out of $13,000. I mean, for his restaurant, I don't know, maybe got a a really good tip off of it but the point is they were like uh you recommend the bottle of wine he brought them a thirteen thousand dollar bottle all right they didn't see it you asked same yeah uh indeed uh
Starting point is 00:14:39 and she was complaining about it online people were like oh you're not a real person like what what is that you're not relatable um no shit she's a famous model who's married to john legend who's yeah super talented multi-million record-selling artist yeah i don't know y'all are i don't know i mean i guess like the, it is part of her appeal is like, Oh, she like has the same funny thoughts that I would have if I were funny. Um, she's,
Starting point is 00:15:12 she's still human. Yeah. She's still a human being. And, and you know, I, I get the, I get the sympathy that she was trying to garner with being like,
Starting point is 00:15:23 how could someone have tried to just slip this under our nose? Which she clearly is not that mad about. Cause she's tweeting about it and not just like, like suing the restaurant, but to be so. Yeah, exactly. But to be so out of touch,
Starting point is 00:15:36 to be so out of touch, to just brag about flippantly letting $13,000 go by was just like, yeah, come on. Yeah. In 2021, in the middle of by was just like, come on. Yeah. In 2021, but in the middle of a panoramic,
Starting point is 00:15:49 come on. I have a panoramic. Uh, and finally, uh, against all odds is trending. Uh, the, the people are talking down.
Starting point is 00:16:00 Well, in the middle of the show, while I was totally paying complete attention yeah as every every day uh i managed to snag a ps5 and you did it uh while people need to be prepared for tomorrow's episode uh because it's really good and sounds great it's a good episode very good episode we have Joelle Monique as our guest co-host and amazing
Starting point is 00:16:31 but she was also trying to get a PlayStation 5 the entire time yes in 10 minute intervals there was about 30 to 40 seconds where everybody's attention was on the walmart screen desperately hitting refresh just saying fuck like all of a sudden out of nowhere um yeah yeah good times uh the wait is over as it were uh i look forward to
Starting point is 00:16:58 getting to know the haptic feedback on this controller getting my own best time in astro's playroom and what is letting it sit haptic all right i'll bite what's haptic feedback is that like when it shakes when you get shot or something so all of that the the triggers are supposed to be the most advanced video game controller triggers ever invented they have different responses there's different kinds of vibration and response for everything that you could do with them every gun you shoot has a different kinds of vibration and response for everything that you could do with them every gun you shoot has a different kind of feel like when you pull the trigger it feels like it's like like it feels like you're shooting whatever you're shooting
Starting point is 00:17:35 so any game that's coming after the ps5 will have individualized specific rumble vibration patterns for the controller wow yeah it's i i gotta tell you i can't wait yeah it's exciting you're not gonna sit here and pretend like you're not happy about this like you know i'm very happy oh i'm i'm i'm very uh i'm extremely pleased and it's been something that like in my head has been a half you'll get it when it when it's available don't worry about it you don't need to, you know, take part in all of this nonsense, like, you know, rapid fire, doing all that stuff.
Starting point is 00:18:10 And the other part of my brain is like, you will have four windows open every day for when this drops and you're going to figure it the fuck out. And that side of the brain won out. You did it, baby. They said, I remember when they were all saying you couldn't do it.
Starting point is 00:18:23 Yeah, they were. All of them said it. They were, all of them. All of them. Here they are. No way this guy's going to get a PlayStation 5. What game are you, is there a specific game that you're like super hyped on? Horizon Forbidden West.
Starting point is 00:18:36 It is the next game in the Horizon series made by Guerrilla Games. They're a French company. games they're a french company and it's like a you know just a a post uh a kind of post-apocalyptic also semi uh like caveman times but with robots it's a very uh it's a great game i'm excited for round two sounds fun it must be nice asshole uh all right guys that is going to do it for this afternoon. We are back tomorrow with the whole last episode of the show. Until then, be kind to each other. Be kind to yourselves. Wear a mask.
Starting point is 00:19:13 Wash your hands. Stay inside. Don't do nothing about white supremacy. And we'll talk to you all tomorrow. Bye. Peace. How do you feel about this? Hi, I'm Akilah Hughes, and I'm so excited about my new podcast, Rebel Spirit,
