Kaitlyn Clark versus Angel Reese on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:01:26 Presented by Elf Beauty, founding partner of iHeart Women's Sports. I'm Keri Champion, and this is Season 4 of Naked Sports. Up first, I explore the making of a rivalry, Caitlin Clark versus Angel Reese. People are talking about women's basketball just because
Starting point is 00:01:42 of one single game. Clark and Reese have changed the way we consume women's basketball. And on this new season, we'll cover all things sports and culture. Listen to Naked Sports on the Black Effect Podcast Network, iHeartRadio apps, or wherever you get your podcasts. The Black Effect Podcast Network is sponsored by Diet Coke. Hello, the internet, and welcome to El Trend trender rigby that is courtesy of someone whose name i do not have in front of me uh they did say aretha franklin's cover eleanor rigby is a
Starting point is 00:02:14 banger if you haven't heard it already um i will find out who that is and shout them out um but i am jack you are i am miles yes yeah just had to look at the label on my underwear but yes it's me back at it again labeled underwear used to be such a funny joke in 80s movies el tendering becomes from atlas novak atlas novak of course shout out to atlas novak um all right let's tell the people what's trending. My alma mater is trending, University of Austin, where I graduated with a graduate degree and being cool as fuck. Being both sides and shit. So, University of Austin is going to be a school that joe rogan will eventually be a dean at
Starting point is 00:03:06 i'm i'm assuming but it's um barry weiss and some other people david mammett david mannett like it's a who's oh them right a grouping of people Because they think that the current education system is not liberal enough? Like neoliberal? Did you see the promo video? It said they're dedicated to the fearless pursuit of the truth. Oh. It'll be a home for those who have been shunned from illiberal college campuses. Okay.
Starting point is 00:03:45 So like white supremacists? Oh, we prefer patriots and unmelanated people who have a deep interest in preserving the traditional ways of American society. I know it's long-winded, but yeah,
Starting point is 00:04:02 racists. Sounds cool. They dropped an announcement video and people are uh are just laughing because like it's it's like being sponsored by like some guy who i think was the data mining company palantir is like a stake in like funding it uh and also i think on the on the website it's like if you go it's like are you giving out degrees or like we cannot confer degrees at the moment and you're like right what is this so i don't know it's just some more culture war shit and when you look at you know the talk that's very specifically in like right wing political strategy circles and the things
Starting point is 00:04:43 that come out of theirs they're fully focused on schooling for these next elections. They feel like they have a, that's going to be the thing they're going to really lean into because then it's, then it's like more vague dog whistling. Right. So I think that's where they're, they found a comfort zone in that.
Starting point is 00:04:58 What you think about the children. Okay. Yeah. Cool. So that, but in terms of their ability to like confer degrees they are sub like you know at the moment this is just a really sick idea got it okay um but yeah i mean it's not so because you know it's like it's not accredited so right i mean i guess maybe we'll have that talk
Starting point is 00:05:22 when they're accredited we're not like like Phoenix University levels, but one day. One day. One day we will dupe veterans into taking Pell Grants to pay for degrees that they can't do anything with to pay back their student loan. I don't know. That's not a business model I've ever heard of. That is interesting that Phoenix University and this one, like fake universities that just take the names of cities and they're like yeah that's that's us right um we're we're that one i mean it helps if you if someone says like oh you went to ut austin right no i went to yeah yeah i went to
Starting point is 00:05:58 yeah aaron rogers would be like yeah i, I went to Austin. Which, hmm? Yeah, University. Austin, you know, in Texas. University, Texas, Austin. Austin. In that it is a university in Texas and is called Austin. Yeah. Okay, look, full disclosure, I went to Austin Rivers' house and he told me some really weird stuff about vaccines.
Starting point is 00:06:24 Jalen Brown is trending speaking of the nba and uh this is this feels like a pipe dream for us sixers fans so jaylen brown one of the big two in boston uh from the boston celtics people are reporting that they uh the boston celtics might be open to trading him for Ben Simmons. I personally think Ben Simmons is at this point very undervalued, and you could get away with probably better than this. But yeah, I do not like the Celtics, so I would love to... I don't know. The Celtics had a slow start,
Starting point is 00:07:03 so I think Sixers fans and the Sixers front office maybe even are hoping that they can turn that panic into a ill-advised trade. Yeah, I mean, at the end of the day, it benefits everyone for him to not be in Philly anymore.
Starting point is 00:07:19 Just figure it out. I do think it would make both teams, but I think he would be really good on a team with shooting that isn't like a center dominant team Boston another great town to go to when you're underperforming as an athlete so you know
Starting point is 00:07:35 I think he'll find it really comforting they are pretty chill pretty chill over there in Massachusetts but yeah I think no matter what he needs to be putting on a new uniform to even be able to like move past this unfortunately but that's yeah that's that's what happens when you just try and treat people like disposable whatever and you can just say whatever the fuck you want about them and and then expect for it to not affect them at all. Bezos is trending as he always should be.
Starting point is 00:08:06 This man stays trending and it's not for refusing to end world hunger. He's trending because there was a LACMA gala over the weekend that was a fucking just stunt fest 101 with the like the all the
Starting point is 00:08:21 hyper celebrities and great artists. Shout out to my dad he was invited because he's part of that show at lakma of course you'd invite your dad to your bachelor party i mean come on no it was at the lakma gala and okay he told me he said he didn't know what it was he said he went to the regular parking and like they told him he wasn't invited because it was for like all the event staff and then he like and then he pulled up and there's like prius and like they told him he wasn't invited because it was for like all the event staff and then he like and then he pulled up and there's like prius and like they're all these like celebrities getting out of like suburbans and shit he's like i'm just gonna park my i didn't know and he got in there and he's like fucking leonardo caprio's there oh he was there yeah yeah yeah no because there's
Starting point is 00:08:57 it's a larger show too with some black artists that are part of this show at lakma and and also celebrating like the obama portraits that I think are going to be shown there so yeah he was he he found himself in an elevated group uh and was wholly unprepared and he said it was like it was very trippy to be mostly at an art thing and then it like looked like this like celeb fest all that to say Jeff Bezos was in the fucking building and so was Leonardo DiCaprio. And there's a video going around where whatever's happening, it looks like Lauren Sanchez, a.k.a. a live girl. Jeff Bezos, the boo thing was like doing like the hardest, like kind of like leaning into him laughing move. like kind of like leaning into him laughing move and everyone's just kind of making up jokes about it to like man she's with the richest man in the world and she's still risking it all um but it's
Starting point is 00:09:52 i think a moment where many people were just kind of liking to see that jeff little jeff bezos next to a towering leonardo dicaprio with laurenchez. Giving goo goo eyes. Restorative for some. Is Leonardo DiCaprio like 6'8"? No. They must be on a step or something. Because they look pretty small. But visually I like what I'm seeing. Sixers should trade for Leonardo DiCaprio.
Starting point is 00:10:17 They have some twin towers in there. But he looks enormous. He looks very tall in this picture. Yeah. And then it's funny because because of that video like that look up that she's giving to leonardo caprio that would break it broke my heart and i'm not even with lauren sanchez um and jeff bezos looks down he posted something uh like back in response he said leo come over here i want to show you something and it's him like with his shirt off like leaning on a staked sign that says danger steep cliff fatal drop uh-huh so he's cool yeah oh damn i forgot he was cool yeah wow so masculinity maintained yes um that's so whack hey come over here i'm gonna fucking kill you guy wink like
Starting point is 00:11:11 is he i actually have no idea how tall is jeff bezos sorry i can't get over the size picture 5'8 dicaprio's 5'11 yeah it's like he's fucking so tall i know i think that's why that's a step and i think that's why he was. I'm sure. I don't know if you, I don't know what his ego is like. I have an idea what Jeff Bezos ego is like, but I'm sure it's looking.
Starting point is 00:11:32 It seems like, yeah, really like, you know, just has a huge heart and thinks of everyone all the time. But I think looking at this image where he looks like a tiny little guy next to, you know, Leonardo DiCaprio
Starting point is 00:11:45 while his girlfriend is like, I'm going with him, honey. Like, distracted girlfriend gif or meme. So he decided some light threats with a wink. DiCaprio should tweet a picture of this and be like, get a girl who looks at you like this. Because that worked out for Chris Pine, I think. No, Chris Pratt.
Starting point is 00:12:05 Chris Pratt. Chris Pratt. All right, let's take a quick break. We'll be right back. I'm Jess Casavetto, executive producer of the hit Netflix documentary series Dancing for the Devil, the 7M TikTok cult. And I'm Clea Gray, former member of 7M Films and Shekinah Church. And we're the host
Starting point is 00:12:26 of the new podcast, Forgive Me For I Have Followed. Together, we'll be diving even deeper into the unbelievable stories behind 7M Films and LA-based Shekinah Church, an alleged cult that has impacted members for over two decades. Jessica and I will delve into the hidden truths between high control groups and interview dancers, church members, and others whose lives and careers have been impacted, just like mine. Through powerful, in-depth interviews with former members and new, chilling firsthand accounts, the series will illuminate untold and extremely necessary perspectives. Forgive Me For I Have Followed will be more than an exploration. It's a vital revelation aimed at ensuring these types of abuses never happen again.

We'll talk about life, love, laughter, and why you should never argue with your co-pilot. Especially when she's always right. Right. And if we hit turbulence, just blame it on Mercury retrograde. When you think of Mexican culture, you think of avocado, mariachi, delicious cuisine,
Starting point is 00:15:17 and of course, lucha libre. It doesn't get more Mexican than this. Lucha libre is known globally because it is much more than just a sport and much more than just entertainment. Lucha Libre. It doesn't get more Mexican than this. Lucha Libre is known globally because it is much more than just a sport and much more than just entertainment. Lucha Libre is a type of storytelling. It's a dance. It's tradition. It's culture. This is Lucha Libre Behind the Mask, a 12-episode podcast in both English and Spanish about the history and cultural richness of Lucha Libre. And I'm your host, Santos Escobar, the emperor of Lucha Libre and a WWE superstar. Santos! Santos! Join me as we learn more about the history behind this spectacular sport
Starting point is 00:15:53 from its inception in the United States to how it became a global symbol of Mexican culture. We'll learn more about some of the most iconic heroes in the ring. This is Lucha Libre Behind the Mask. Listen to Lucha libre behind the mask as part of my cultura podcast network on the iheart radio app apple podcasts or wherever you stream podcasts and we're back and nation of islam is trending Yep. I don't know. Oh, Marjorie Taylor Greene.
Starting point is 00:16:26 It's always a good time when Marjorie Taylor Greene and the Nation of Islam are trending. It's wild. She tweeted this whole thing about how she visited jail and she saw that there's all kinds of religious texts there, Christiane and Islam. She misspelled Christian in this tweet thread and being like yeah man you get the you know the last call you like the nation of islam paper in there and things
Starting point is 00:16:51 like that and she's like going through it i see like we have common ground they are against the vaccinations they're against these draconian mandates and like she's like showing pictures of like this like you know this uh this like newspaper with all these like big headlines about like do not like lead black people to the slaughter of like the mandated vaccinations and like she was sort of being like we can work with this we can work with this i feel like she missed a key part of the the paper maybe yeah well that's why I think a lot of people are like, this is just fucking gold. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:29 But I mean, I want her to start going, like really try and get in there, become a member. I know. I mean, I guess the anti-Semitism is an overlap, too. I don't know if she's talked about that as well, and all the regressive stuff about uh lgbtq people violence stuff maybe i don't know i don't know maybe or maybe she just very narrowly said oh vaccines great all right uh travis scott is trending uh obviously we we go into a little more detail about the tragedy at the Astroworld Music Festival over the weekend.
Starting point is 00:18:05 But the reaction to this story, kind of the second round of this story, is getting a little satanic panicky about how the festival should be viewed. Yeah, or just comparing images, doing the same stuff. Like, look at this this is uh this looks exactly like this kind of uh satanic imagery and right uh yeah i mean
Starting point is 00:18:33 it's sad that they can't even like that there's somehow this has something to do with satanism rather than maybe just the answer might just be greed and a lack of proper staffing uh to make more money but you know this is why all the time they said there's been like inverted crosses it's just all this nonsense when you know trying to gain some momentum for your movement by exploiting people's actual deaths. Even if all the satanic imagery that they're pointing out was actually intentional and meant to be satanic imagery,
Starting point is 00:19:14 would that even be news? That popular music was using iconography from the devil? Isn't that everything? Isn't this the generation of old white people who love the rolling stones like i don't yeah i mean well i mean tune in tomorrow to hear more about who the rolling stones really are um that's right you will have to hold on to your butt for that you will uh both hands have both hands free to hold on to your whole butts because it's if no one's ready for this.
Starting point is 00:19:47 I don't even know if we'll be able to air the episode because of what they believe is so explosive at the moment. Huge if true. Finally, just some dumb shit. There's a Reddit thread that was at the top of the trending page of what food is overrated. Things that we eat
Starting point is 00:20:03 or just food trends or what's on there it's just i mean so we got uh activated charcoal anything which i didn't is that a thing is that a trend i've seen it in toothpaste or is that uh is that the only thing i think i've seen stuff like it comes up for like pet stuff too right there's i know it's like a cocktail trend right okay you know i don't but i get it it's like i i don't want something that looks like ash and like eat mouthfuls of it and it's also bad for you apparently uh and oh like the idea it can it can be used to like filter stuff it's like emptying your brita filter into the water that you're drinking instead of uh hey chew on them they're good it's
Starting point is 00:20:52 like a little texture to for their cocktail uh they talked gold flakes which just this i i want to just extend that to any world's most expensive food item list. Like that food god shit. They're always dominated by this bullshit, being like a regular ass burger, but it's got a gold flake infused throughout it. Right. It's so boring. It's the thing to start doing,
Starting point is 00:21:17 like the most expensive burger, it's $6 billion, and then low-key you're solving world hunger by... Right, there you go. Then you could be like, damn. Think about how happy you'd feel. Any burger that's too big to pick up like somebody point i like that that's a specific right yeah yeah like those like just massive especially like i don't the the really tall ones the the ones that are like you know a steaming pile of ground beef because i just worry about their ability to get to the very center of that wedding cakes mcribs somebody pointed out like
Starting point is 00:21:53 caviar champagne and oysters which i feel like are all good examples especially like caviar and oysters i just feel like every time i've had one of those, I've felt like I'm being gaslit by wealthy people. Oh, man. I disagree. Champagne, whatever. Preserved fish roe is like a big Asian thing, so I'm not eating beluga caviar, but
Starting point is 00:22:18 ikura, like salmon roe and things like that. Salmon roe is really fucking good. Love that shit. But that shit isn't like the is that considered caviar i feel like people do you can categorize it you know but it's not like you know everyone's talking about like petrosian you know like the super high-end shit that like you know they have like inexplicable restaurants and like beverly hills or like i'm sorry this is a caviar restaurant who the fuck goes here jeff bezos and shit and then oysters man you don't
Starting point is 00:22:46 like oysters i do sometimes like a fried oyster boy even on the half shell very i have a vague suspicion that like it's just doesn't taste good but i love it when it tastes like a mouthful of sea trash yeah i don't know maybe that's why i'm like you don't like the taste of sea trash the brininess like just open mouth of seawater yeah um it's like if the the flavor that my snot has after i go swimming in the ocean and get just like wrecked by a wave right right because you like to blow your nose into a napkin and then eat it when you get out of the beach. Yeah, like post-nasal drip, little post-ocean dip, post-nasal drip.
Starting point is 00:23:33 But I get, too, that I think more in the sense of the elevation of it, I get it. It's like, we get it. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Oysters and caviar. But, yeah. It does just seem arbitrary at a certain point. Hey, man. Tell that to people of uh the oyster farming man there was there were oyster wars you know that like in virginia and shit there were like like the oyster men were fine oysters have been like there's some interesting
Starting point is 00:23:58 shit around oysters yeah and lobsters used to be considered like sea bugs and nobody ate them and then they just arbitrarily became like a famous uh posh thing right because all the in the industrial revolution all the poors were eating all the bottom feeders right and because there are so many people eating them they became expensive because all the poors were eating them that then the rich people were like what's that yeah how much is one of those now that's our food they thought it was uh too cruel to
Starting point is 00:24:32 feed lobster to prisoners in maine like back in the day oh and look at us now look at us now caviar and gold flakes on the shit thank you um i mean i still eat all of these things constantly like gold flakes with caviar and gold flakes on the shit thank you um i mean i still eat all of these things constantly like gold flakes with caviar and activated chart like i eat all that shit right i'm just saying
Starting point is 00:24:51 you know as do we all but like you got to move on to new stuff man right yeah uh all right those are some of the things that are trending on this monday afternoon we are back tomorrow with the whole last episode of the show until then be kind be kind to each other. Be kind to yourselves. Get the vaccine. Don't do nothing about white supremacy. And we will talk to you tomorrow. Bye. Bye. Hey, I'm Gianna Pradenti. And I'm Jermaine Jackson-Gadsden.
