Hello, the internet, and welcome to this episode of Gabba Trendin. The wonder drug, Gabba Trendin.
Starting point is 00:02:09 That is courtesy of Maya Khoury on the Discord. Great short show title. What is that for? It's for everything. It's like the main thing in one of the big stop smoking drugs. It also helps with nerve pain. It really makes you realize that they're just like, I don't know. We tried it on everything. Yeah, like you give it to your pet.
Starting point is 00:02:32 I don't know, nerve pain. The rub some tussin on it. Joke is actually how pharmaceuticals actually work. Yeah, gab it up one time. The discovery of Viagra was when they were trying to cure people with heart attacks. And they were like, these guys are getting boners. And have great heart health. Anyways, I'm Jack.
Starting point is 00:02:54 And that over there, that's Miles Gray. And speaking of Miles Gray, the first trending thing is happy birthday. You really did it this time. I did a whole trend for your birthday. Okay, why is it trending? What, do you want to joke around about how it's the coolest day on Earth? I wouldn't joke about this, all right? In addition to being the birthday of our very own favorite prince, Prince Harry and Miles Gray,
Starting point is 00:03:24 this is one of the 10 most common birthdays in the u.s you're coming in at number eight okay um and in fact nine of the top 10 of the most common birthdays all fall around like this week this i mean they're they're all september like one through 10 all september birthdays except for six being being July 7th for no reason what the fuck is happening on July 7th I don't know because I get right because this is everybody's banging in December this is the banging in December this is an overlooked fact that America has a mating season and it is Christmas and right no but like it is from Thanksgiving to Christmas. Everybody is getting cozy and feeling nostalgic
Starting point is 00:04:09 and having unprotected sex with each other. Yeah. Wow. Just to celebrate Christ. That's right. That's right. They're doing it for Christ. Yeah, it is different based on country,
Starting point is 00:04:22 but in the U.S. it's definitely the most common. So then July 7th would be like October 7th. Right. Is that like people who have just given birth to like a Leo Virgo child and then immediately getting pregnant again? That's probably what it is. What the fuck is that? Like what's happening?
Starting point is 00:04:40 Trying on early Halloween costumes. It's a little too sexy. Yeah. I don't know. It's also probably one of the warmer days of the year, so I don't know if that's causing things to happen. Not October, but the actual birthday. Maybe it's people
Starting point is 00:04:58 scheduling births for after the holiday long weekend. Right. It's wild. I do know so many people with birthdays around here uh so hey and if it's your birthday around this time happy birthday yeah it probably is right statistically we can say it is almost definitely your birthday so happy birthday to you as well around this time very good chance and if you're a july 7th birthday what the tell us this backstory do you know do you have any idea are you one of
Starting point is 00:05:25 you probably asked your parents why did you guys have sex when you did why did you have sex on october 7th but anyways uh truly happy birthday uh but hope you have a good one all right let's talk about other things that are happening uh on your special day big problem things yes fantastic big problems on my birthday trump's rhetoric is getting you know it's ramping up maybe he'll get out of it but he knows it's probably the most trouble he's ever been in his entire life uh because he was on i think hugh hewitt's show talking to you know the right wing potosphere and saying uh you know when talked about a possible indictment he said quote i would
Starting point is 00:06:05 have no prohibition against running so he's saying that won't stop me if the thing that y'all think's gonna happen is gonna happen and i don't care anyway because it might i'll eat that goes on sounds like he's trying to talk like a lawyer like he saw uh he just watched the firm or something and like was trying to drink in all the all the legal language right right had a john grisham book read to him and i would have no prohibition against a candidacy therefore in the iraq such as i will be there then he goes on to say quote i think if it happened you'd have problems in this country the likes of which perhaps you have ever seen before ever a uh-huh quote then he goes on i don't think the
Starting point is 00:06:47 people of the united states would stand for it and then when hugh hewitt asked him to elaborate he said big problems i just don't think they'd stand for it they will not sit still and stand for this ultimate of hoaxes so he's he's trying to fucking kick the hive this most ultimate of hoaxes um it'll be something you have ever seen before it does i i think he's right that people will be uh pissed if it happens um so but it's up to you donald to give them an outlet to commit even more crimes but you seem to be on this path so i don't know it's very freaking freaky especially when you look at like couple that with all the q anon related shit that's happened that guy like murdered his wife and like dog and like it shot his daughter uh like like over cue stuff
Starting point is 00:07:37 like he was going down that rabbit hole guy in a clown wig showed up to like a dairy queen or something with a gun saying he's gonna kill all the democrats and meanwhile on truth social he's like openly oh like it's it's not even like winking at q anon it's like retweeting shit with him fully cued out just like full death cult status we're not i mean it's no longer a metaphor this is i have your god emperor because they have to just keep doubling down they know they're like well obviously we're we're saying the most repugnant shit out loud. So the only people we can really energize are the people who don't care about anything except for discrimination and pain. And we'll just lean into that. Yeah, man.
Starting point is 00:08:18 It's not good. No. It's not. This is a, you know, eight on the scale of makes me feel like I'm going to throw up a little bit. So, yeah. Well, not on my birthday. Yeah, not on your birthday. I'll hold it in.
Starting point is 00:08:33 Yeah. Yeah. Thank you. Dumped is also trending because that is what various Republican leaders are doing with migrants. They're taking them and flying them or, you know, putting them on a bus to other cities as props. Yeah. I mean,
Starting point is 00:08:50 like DeSantis flew, I believe two plane loads of people to Martha's vineyard and just stranded them there. Greg Abbott bust people to Kamala Harris's house and just left them there. These people are like, you're dropping me off in a residential neighborhood with nothing. I haven't eaten. Is there a bathroom here? Where am I? And that's sort of what these fucking goofballs are doing to ramp up again. They're not going to win on policy arguments so they just have to put out more racist red meat you know and do more xenophobic cruel ass theater to get people to be like whoa yeah exactly it's their problem and you know oddly enough not oddly enough like the
Starting point is 00:09:35 people in martha's vineyard apparently like did everything they could to try and like be like oh shit that sucks here like you you need some help? Would you like food? Yeah, a place to sleep, figure out where you're going to go because you've been put on a fucking island. Yeah. For these people who were treated like they are the eggs
Starting point is 00:09:58 and he's egging someone's house. He's like, ah, got him. Peel off. Right. Truly just the most inhumane shit yeah and desantis's point is like you know they're they're just all virtue signaling when they say they're sanctuary cities like he's almost being like these people don't mean it like it's bullshit that they have a heart nobody's got a heart right yeah like no people do like people aren't so
Starting point is 00:10:23 fucking dead inside that they've you know their fantasy world is to become like some weird Kirkland signature Hitler. Yeah. All right. Let's take a quick break. We'll be right back. I'm Jess Casavetto, executive producer of the hit Netflix documentary series, Dancing for the Devil, the 7M TikTok cult. And I'm Clea Gray, former member of 7M Films and Shekinah Church. And we're the host of the new podcast, Forgive Me For I Have Followed.
Starting point is 00:10:55 Together, we'll be diving even deeper into the unbelievable stories behind 7M Films and LA-based Shekinah Church, an alleged cult that has impacted members for over two decades. Jessica and I will delve into the hidden truths between high control groups and interview dancers, church members, and others whose lives and careers have been impacted, just like mine. Through powerful, in-depth interviews with former members and new, chilling first-hand accounts, the series will illuminate untold and extremely necessary perspectives. Forgive Me For I Have Followed will be more than an exploration. It's a vital revelation aimed at ensuring these types of abuses never happen again. Listen to Forgive Me For I Have Followed on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:11:41 Hey, I'm Gianna Pradente. And I'm Jemay Jackson-Gadsden. We're the hosts of Let's Talk Offline, a new podcast from LinkedIn News and iHeart Podcasts. When you're just starting out in your career, you have a lot of questions. Like, how do I speak up when I'm feeling overwhelmed? Or, can I negotiate a higher salary
Starting point is 00:11:59 if this is my first real job? Girl, yes. Each week, we answer your unfiltered work questions. Think of us as your work besties you can turn to for advice. And if we don't know the answer, we bring in experts who do, like resume specialist Morgan Saner. The only difference between the person who doesn't get the job and the person who gets the job is usually who applies.
Starting point is 00:12:20 Yeah, I think a lot about that quote. What is it, like you miss 100% of the shots you never take? Yeah, rejection is scary, but it's better than you rejecting yourself. Together, we'll share what it really takes to thrive in the early years of your career without sacrificing your sanity or sleep. Listen to Let's Talk Offline on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I've been thinking about you. I want you back in my life. It's too late for that. Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. BPM 110, 120. She's terrified.
Starting point is 00:13:05 Should we wake her up? Absolutely not. What was that? You didn't figure it out? I think I need to hear you say it. That was live audio of a woman's nightmare. This machine is approved and everything? You're allowed to be doing this?
Starting point is 00:13:21 We passed the review board a year ago. We're not hurting people. There's nothing dangerous about what you're doing. They're just dreams. Dream Sequence is a new horror thriller from Blumhouse Television, iHeartRadio, and Realm. Listen to Dream Sequence on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. When you think of Mexican culture, you think of avocado, mariachi, delicious cuisine, or wherever you get your podcasts. Lucha Libre is a type of storytelling. It's a dance. It's tradition. It's culture. This is Lucha Libre Behind the Mask, a 12-episode podcast in both English and Spanish
Starting point is 00:14:10 about the history and cultural richness of Lucha Libre. And I'm your host, Santos Escobar, the emperor of Lucha Libre and a WWE superstar. Santos! Santos! Join me as we learn more about the history behind this spectacular sport from its inception in the United States to how it became a global symbol of Mexican culture. We'll learn more about some of the most iconic heroes in the ring.
Starting point is 00:14:33 This is Lucha Libre Behind the Mask. Listen to Lucha Libre Behind the Mask as part of My Cultura Podcast Network on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you stream podcasts. And we're back. And Roger Federer is back.
Starting point is 00:14:54 It is. That's another one. It sounds like it's like Federer. He has the most Grand Slam titles, right? I think so. He's the GOAT. Yeah. Okay. Good for him. Oh, no. It's Nadalal nadal has 22 oh shit okay so many writers liked to just you know wax poetic about how good he was a tennis for a while there including little wayne i think had a had some interesting like writings about uh roger federer
Starting point is 00:15:20 but uh yeah poetry in motion uh one of one of the more fun players to watch play tennis would hit shots that i didn't know like you know i i apparently don't understand how physics work some of the things that he could do with spin on a tennis ball but yeah he's retiring with his 20 grand slams with his 20 it's fine i was always like i was like pete sampras is our champion motherfucker you were a 14 no i mean like i just remember in that era i was kind of watching i thought andre agassi's wig was dope as fuck in the late 80s right and then i remember being really mad that pete sampras was just fucking washing him all the time i'm like damn man like wig guy i'm like bald guy with the headbands uh so i was actually kind of a sampras was just fucking washing him all the time i'm like damn man like wig guy i like bald
Starting point is 00:16:05 guy with the headbands uh so i was actually kind of a sampras hater uh in that sense yeah me too um he's just kind of like pretty common right like if somebody was like i'm a me i'm a sampras guy i would be very suspicious like yeah sampras over agassi i just like how uh workman like and yeah so something about sampras really didn't didn't hit with me not that i was like a huge tennis fan but i was i was a michael chang fan yeah yo i was a big michael chang fan too because he served like a underhand and i never learned how to serve overhand. He could play so well that he could serve underhand sometimes
Starting point is 00:16:50 and was just the human backboard. Impossible to get the ball past. Shout out to Michael Chang. I remember he's married to Bridget Wilson, Veronica Vaughn from Billy Madison.
Starting point is 00:17:05 Not Michael Chang. Even though it should be Michael Chang. He was, you know, he's married to Bridget Wilson, Veronica Vaughn from Billy Madison. And also. Sampras's. Yeah, Sampras's. Not Michael Chang. No, no, no. Even though it should be Michael Chang. But then I was like, there's an article. I was like, what happened to her?
Starting point is 00:17:13 I'm like, is she, did she say something about politics or something? But there's this article. I just Googled her name. The first thing that comes up that says, why Hollywood won't cast Bridget Wilson Sampras. And I'm trying to be like, what happened? She was a blah, blah, blah, blah, uh she was a i don't know what happened uh small parts on yeah that's right she was on she was sonia blade immortal combat she was in saved by the bell i don't think yeah i don't think we're gonna get an answer all right well oh maybe oh it said richard said you wanted to just raise a family.
Starting point is 00:17:47 That's the best. That is a genre of clickbait. Where they're like, what happened that makes it so this famous person is banned from Hollywood movies? Yeah, they just kind of decided that they wanted
Starting point is 00:18:03 to move out of LA and raise a family somewhere else. What happened? We gotcha. Show me. Wait, is there... Okay, yeah, I'm trying to... I don't think she's even on Twitter. Anyway, whatever. Alright, Roger Federer. CNN
Starting point is 00:18:20 trending. Things... I don't know. They have now demoted don lemon from the prime time slot yeah you're gonna be on mornings now okay on mornings now so now we got i think two two of their prime time slots because wasn't that cuomo and him are a vacant yeah as we've seen the right word shift at cnn so i can only imagine who they're going to put in there. If it's just going to be fucking Ben Shapiro or some shit at this point. But the,
Starting point is 00:18:51 like the morning show he's doing with Poppy Harlow and like Caitlin Collins and Collins, like used to write for the fucking daily caller. You know what I mean? Wow. And then Poppy Harlow is a human pile of both sides. So I, yeah, I don't know what the fuck they're going to talk. Or maybe they'll just argue a bunch.
Starting point is 00:19:12 I don't know what the vibe is supposed to be there, but it's clearly they're clearing the fucking dead wood for whatever, you know, fascist apologist or some shit they're going to put in there. That is one of those stories where it's just clearly a rich old white man who is operating in the most secluded of the echo chambers, just only hearing from other old rich white men that like we need to like things have moved way, way too far to the left. Like you need to, you need to get more like Fox News out there.
Starting point is 00:19:46 And I think they're going to be pretty surprised how little of an appetite there is for even more both sides-y bullshit. Not that they were a radical leftist outlet to begin with. No, but it's funny because their fans were so center-ish left. More like big D kind of democrat people are like they're really mad but for the reasons we're like i'm fans of him why and then they'll probably begin to be like oh this bullshit um but i mean yeah it's a very potent tool because for a lot of it's like just sort of like a people default to thinking of cnn as a news channel um so if you're not a savvy consumer of news and you go there and suddenly you
Starting point is 00:20:27 have someone like, I think Joe Biden needs to apologize for saying they're semi-fascist. Right. That's not a take that helps drive us into the future. That's the, that's America's problem is Joe Biden is too extreme. And then finally, the Woman King is trending. This is a movie that I think we've had our eye on for a while.
Starting point is 00:20:51 But we talked about how Don't Worry Darling, the critics, once people are able to watch it, it apparently doesn't follow through on the promise of its trailer. This one does and the the critics are you know pretty pretty uniform that this is a great movie and they're also uniformed that it is bloody as fuck which right uh that that always i don't know i'm a weird person who was raised on action movies and so like the one review from Consequence that gave it a 100 out of 100
Starting point is 00:21:28 that come for the bloodshed, stay for the sisterhood. So yeah. And it's from the filmmaker who made The Old Guard, which is a movie I think we watched or talked about during the pandemic when there weren't that many movies or tv shows coming out um gina prince blithewood who also made love and basketball yeah and yeah i don't know it looks like it could be very good well the story's fucking wild and apparently this
Starting point is 00:21:58 is something that viola davis was like this needs to get made like for years about this like all like woman regiment in this army in like 1823 west africa uh and just hearing like man apparently they were training like crazy to fucking get in shape for all this um yeah i mean it looks it from what i've seen it looks really fucking cool and i based on what everyone's saying, it sounds like it's delivers on its promise. And it appears to be out now. I remember for a number, like for an entire month
Starting point is 00:22:34 I was like, Top Gun coming out this weekend. And it was like coming out in a month and a half when I first said that. But The Woman King, when I Google it, has Showtimes available right now in Los Angeles. I think limited release, but
Starting point is 00:22:49 I don't care about you guys. I just care about myself. It's just wild to, again, even with this thing, Viola Davis wanted to make this since 2015, I think when one of the producers hit her up. And she's like, they never wanted to make this. And just hear her talking about how she had to honestly like the character she's like they never wanted to make this and like just hear her talking
Starting point is 00:23:05 about how she had to honestly like the character she's playing like have a fucking same singular mentality to like not be dissuaded and to try and get this made uh yeah it's already like because it's so different from every fucking film that comes out it's like yep yep that's gonna be great what what uh marvel ip is this based off of? Wait, what? History? Interesting. I never heard of that character. History is great IP sometimes. Yeah, yeah. Love history. Vision, history,
Starting point is 00:23:34 like they're all really dope, guys. Alright, well those are some of the things that are trending on this Thursday, September 15th, 2022. We are back tomorrow with the whole last episode of the show. Until then, be kind to each other. Be kind to yourselves.
Starting point is 00:23:54 Get the vaccine. Don't do nothing about white supremacy. And we will talk to you all tomorrow. Bye. Bye. Bye. I'm Jess Casavetto, executive producer of the hit Netflix documentary series Dancing for the Devil, the 7M TikTok cult. And I'm Clea Gray, former member of 7M Films and Shekinah Church.
