What happens when a professional football player's career ends and the applause fades and the screaming fans move on? and the applause fades and the screaming fans move on. I am going to share my journey of how I went from Christianity to now a Hebrew Israelite. For some former NFL players, a new faith provides answers. You mix homesteading with guns and church. Voila! You got straight away.
Starting point is 00:02:01 They try to save everybody. Listen to Spiraled on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Oh, what's going on, everybody? Welcome to the Friday evening edition to... Okay, excuse me. One second, hype man. Allow me to get the title out because it's rolling on that endo. GameCube Nintendo.
Starting point is 00:02:21 Oh, my goodness. 5% tint so you can't see up in my window. I believe is how the rest of that rhyme goes. That's Slim Thug's part from the Mike Jones classic, Still Tipping On Popos. I still remember the number. Also the Gladiator Breakout Trap single, GameCube Nintendo. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:40 That's right. That's DJ Daniel with the shameless self-promotion. Damn right. That was really Daniel with the shameless self-promotion. Damn right. That was really convenient. I will say this. I will say it out loud right now so people know this is your moment. Daniel, okay? Go check out the Gladiator remix. That's DJ Daniel, our producer, his past life as a producer of music,
Starting point is 00:02:58 and then current life of keeping me from getting Ableton so I can share my talents with you because he's scared. Accurate. I love that song. I love that Mike Jones album. I had one of those like, you know how people were doing like Livestrong like rubber bracelets that were like stamped with like really specific causes or
Starting point is 00:03:17 promos and shit. I had a Mike Jones one. You had a Mike Jones one? Yes. 201-330-8004. Yes, I hit Mike Jones up on the low because Mike Jones is about Yes. 2-8-1-3-3-0-8-0-0-4. 8-0-0-4, yes. I hit Mike Jones up on the low. Hit Mike Jones up on the low because Mike Jones is about to blow. If you don't work, you don't eat.
Starting point is 00:03:30 If you don't grind, you don't shine. So the next time you come up to me and ask how I blew, put that on your mind. Okay, and I did. So let's look at what's trending, GameCube-ing and trending right now. Ashley Simpson is trending because her and Evanoss are expecting their first child together oh well congratulations to them i mean i don't i don't understand how she has managed to still stay like people care i don't is it because of when she imploded on snl like that moment was so touching to people that they just never abandoned her after that? You know, honestly, man, memes be, they stay. They stand the test of time.
Starting point is 00:04:06 If you've been memed, you are eternal. Right. Yeah. I don't know. I think that's all there is to it. There's just that, oh, Ashley Simpson. Right, right, right. Dancing on SNL.
Starting point is 00:04:17 Huh. That's it. That's your legacy. I just remember how I was, this was like during an era when we were really getting like anybody who had some modicum of fame to like like yeah get them to be a musician now let's just try and let's just try and pull out as much money out of them as possible so that one when that shit went down on snl i was so happy i was like yes straight into my veins just needed that shit yes especially
Starting point is 00:04:41 to see somebody like look at you yeah had to shuffle off stage had to shuffle on stage your backing track went wacky um okay next up is versus because the uh timbaland and swiss beats endeavor to give people the best like musical head-to-head battles uh has a new phase in the past we've seen things like manny fresh and scott storch or teddy riley baby face rizza dj premiere like really fantastic producers go head to head or singer songwriters now we're getting our first female entries and it is going to be oh my god drum roll jill scott versus erica badu and i cannot think mean, so basically, if people aren't familiar, these have been Instagram live battles that have been going down.
Starting point is 00:05:28 Dan, I can't believe you have not witnessed one of these as a music lover. I know. I am asleep, as it were. One of my favorite pieces of media that have come out of the quarantine is just doing these things where people, we're settling these hypothetical battles. We're like, who's got more hits? Right. Okay. Babyface or Teddy Rock. and then saying no real quick real quick manny fresh versus scott storch that already happened right yeah it was now the way you're
Starting point is 00:05:55 shaking your head that should feel like it shouldn't happen so who came out on top because scott storch scott storch absolutely have just vaporized manny fresh manny fresh look manny fresh is a different this is this is the thing about these battles right scott storch has a lot of different thing and yeah but like manny fresh is a pioneer he's a he's a legend and and when you when it comes to southern rap there's that's his whole thing with the way these battles work when you're not playing hits and your only hits are maybe a little more localized or regional, they could be regional things
Starting point is 00:06:28 that people get tatted on their bodies. Sure. But when they don't break through to billboard stuff, then that's the sort of bias that you'll see because people in the comments are like, I never heard of this. But if you weren't really paying attention to those albums, you might not understand how that is like an anthem
Starting point is 00:06:44 somewhere else. Disappointing how i think i get it yeah but you know that's it's all in good fun of course no one's ever like super in their feelings of course of course of course i mean i will but this next one though i'm that this has me very intrigued oh yeah just gotta talk about dude that's just like it's going to be a delightful one um yeah so keep your eyes on those because it's like again it's hypothetical things that when you have everyone everyone has a lot of time on their hands right why not why not give us some joy and since i'm a dummy and don't know where this is whose instagram is it on is it an instagram dedicated to this it's probably going to be on uh either one of their instagram. Okay, so either be looking for Jill Scott
Starting point is 00:07:26 or Erykah Badu to go live B2B. Yeah, or if you follow Timbaland, the legendary producer. Of course. Or I think there's also Versus TV where you do V-E-R-Z-U-Z TV where that's like the official account. Got it.
Starting point is 00:07:42 Got it. Got it. But these things are worth the watch i'm down that sounds like fun moving on valorant is going from verses to verses well done miles and dan i don't want you to say a single thing because i don't think you have much to offer any discussion around video games so we'll just keep it moving and we'll say that's trending. Next. All right. So ladies and gentlemen, the Valorant ranked playlists have gone live and people are stoked. There's some positive reactions, some negative reactions, but let me tell you, I'm geeked about
Starting point is 00:08:16 it. Another tactical shooter has entered the market. CSGO was dominating for so long. And I think this is finally something that is going to, you know, tread that line in between Overwatch and Counter-Strike that people have been looking for. So what is important about this new ranked development? What's going on? Like you can like players are now getting rankings based on their play. So you can establish hierarchies now. Yeah, more or less. Exactly. I mean, so it's made by Riot Games. Riot Games makes arguably the most popular competitive video game in the world with League of Legends. And with their next output being Valorant, people were ready for ranked playlists to come about. Quick question.
Starting point is 00:08:51 Does Tariq have a new skin yet? Yes, he does. Some great new skins. Finally new Tariq skins. When did that happen? I think it was a couple weeks ago, I think. I'll double check my skins. I'll double check.
Starting point is 00:09:02 You know what I've been saying. I mean, my man hasn't gotten new skins since Obama was in office. Too long. So anyway. It's just exciting. It's because people want to play ranked. They want to play competitive. They want to establish a scene for this.
Starting point is 00:09:18 And this is where pros come from. This is where shining stars come from. And it's like how streams will become popular. Because once you can start saying, like, I'm a X-tier Valorant player, that puts you on a lot of watch lists. That puts you on, or not watch lists, but that gets people paying attention to what you're doing. So the ranked playlists are coming out, and that's good.
Starting point is 00:09:34 They need to add a ready button for queues. They need to have a more strict AFK monitor. And they need more stable servers. But it's the beginning. They're just starting and we're excited to see how it goes right and that's what i'm gonna be doing this afternoon nice uh well finally uh on a sadder note i just want to point out that uh uh tony allen who is one of my favorite drummers he's a nigerian drummer. He basically helped start the whole Afrobeat
Starting point is 00:10:07 musical genre. He passed away on Thursday, it turns out, at the age of 79. It wasn't due to coronavirus. I believe it was some kind of heart cardiac incident. But he, my goodness, I can't underline how important this man is to music. His drumming helped other drummers, especially Western drummers, think of rhythm differently, syncopation differently. I just, it's, yeah, it sucks. I think he's one of the greatest drummers ever. I will implore you to listen to his music. If you don't like, you know, if you want something interesting, this is a track I've played before. Look up Asiko, A-S-I-K-o by tony allen it's like a track that like j dilla has sampled you know that's the kind of drummer he was a lot of textures a lot of great
Starting point is 00:10:51 rhythms and things like that so uh his presence is definitely felt in music now so he definitely has that legacy so rest in power to the god tony allen and if you're a drummer and you have not like thought of Afrobeat and how that relates to kit drumming, I would implore you. Look up. There's some videos, actually, where he's teaching just sort of philosophically how Afrobeat drumming is different than traditional four-on-the-floor type boom-bap drumming.
Starting point is 00:11:20 Yeah, so check that out. Rest in peace. Daniel, thanks for coming through. Um, maybe I'll see on those Valorant ranked boards. You know what I mean? Oh, for sure,
Starting point is 00:11:31 buddy. Super low tier, bad plays. DJ. Oh, fantastic. All right. Y'all have a fantastic weekend.
Starting point is 00:11:40 Uh, it's been another week. Congrats. We'll keep doing it. Please keep your heads up. Please stay safe. Please treat each other with love
Starting point is 00:11:46 please treat yourself with love be nice to yourself you know what I mean because sometimes we're all we got okay take care
