Hello, the Internet, and welcome to this episode of God Trended Me. My favorite TV show, God Trended Me.
Starting point is 00:02:17 I'm Jack. That's Miles. Hey. Hey, man. How's it going? First show, first bit of content we're doing from separate locations. Yes. How does it feel to you? I feel weird. Fine. You know, I think we're trying to make the best out of the situation while still being able to at least provide people with some sense of normalcy with this second-rate podcast.
Starting point is 00:02:43 But yeah, it's definitely uh it's new it's new and i'm sure it's going to take some time getting used to for everybody um all right well let's tell the people what is trending at the moment obviously i mean this is uh probably uh even more kind of influx news cycle than we're used to. Uh, and news has sped up pretty quickly, uh, in the past since the show started, uh,
Starting point is 00:03:12 around, around that time. Uh, but this is even faster, but here's what's trending right now. New Jersey, uh, New Jersey.
Starting point is 00:03:21 Yeah. There's going to be a, uh, curfew being put in place. According to the governor, Phil Murphy said that it's going to basically be a statewide curfew with all casinos, bars, movie theaters, nightclubs, performing arts centers and gyms must shut down tonight, Monday at 8 p.m. and will remain closed until further notice. will remain closed until further notice. And they're going to, he's apparently saying that the residents of New Jersey should not leave their homes from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. So, yeah, I think as people take more and more aggressive actions to keep the spread or try and control the spread of the virus,
Starting point is 00:04:00 we'll begin to see more things like this. And I have a feeling, you know, our schedules will be disrupted a bit more. Right. I mean, this definitely fucks up my plans to go to the Atlantic City casinos this evening, but is this different than, like in some states, they've already told movie theaters,
Starting point is 00:04:21 I think in California, they've already said nightclubs, movie theaters, I think in California, they've already said nightclubs, movie theaters, and gyms should be, and bars should be shut down and restaurants. Yeah. Yeah. I think it varies from state to state based on, you know, the severity of it. But I think now in general, it just seems like the wisdom seems to be just do as much as you can now to limit it. Because again, it's not necessarily that people are going to suffer tremendously from the illness but people who are vulnerable or have underlying health conditions it can be bad news for them and we also like the thing to consider is the capacity
Starting point is 00:04:55 of the amount of patients our hospitals can take and that's really why it's important it's not because no dude if i get it i'm gonna be to be all right. No, no, no. Stay away. Decrease the numbers. Don't be a node in this network of transmission. That's what it's all about. And it may seem unbearable, but it's really about keeping those people safe who are vulnerable. And God forbid it be someone you know, a family member, or just a vulnerable member of the community. Yeah. But I guess I'm trying to figure out, is this new? Is there something new about this? I guess a curfew at 8 p.m., meaning if you're out driving on the street after 8 p.m., they
Starting point is 00:05:36 can pull you over. Do we know if that's what this is saying? It could be. I mean, it's definitely if it's being being mandated you don't want to be caught out at that time i'm not sure exactly how it's going to be uh enforced last time i was in anywhere that had a curfew was during the probably the la riots back in 92 yeah uh where there was like a but that was a very different situation yeah it just seems like they are naming a bunch of institutions that are already closed down in certain places, but grocery stores are remaining open.
Starting point is 00:06:09 Are people, I'm just wondering, I guess I'll look into it and we can tell you more tomorrow, but I'm wondering if this means that people are still allowed to go to grocery stores after 8 p.m. It's just these kind of social activities, which is a fine distinction, but probably an important one to our Jersey Zeitgang. July or August, kind of keeping in the same general area, is trending, those two words together, three words together. Trump said, you know, in his sort of continuing within his style of stream of consciousness presidency uh he just you know was like oh man it looks like it's gonna get bad it's just like like paying attention to him and following him on twitter is just you know like following the mind of an elderly relative as they hear something and relate to whatever the latest thing they heard is.
Starting point is 00:07:06 Unfortunately, because he is the president, this might have definitely contributed to the worst day in the stock market since 1987 and another circuit breaker but it's just you know the idea that this would take that much time uh for people you know to get back to normal which is probable if you've been paying attention to you know what medical professionals are telling us uh that's it's still uh you know bad news for the markets and for the economy so how about bad news for people who work service jobs in the restaurant industry anything else all those things that's where the bad news is not for fortune 500 ceos i mean the the wild shit was even on friday trump fucking autographed a stock market chart for Lou Dobbs.
Starting point is 00:08:05 Basically right after that Rose garden ceremony to be like, yeah, look at that. We went up to grand and then cut to today where it plunges nearly 3000 points. So again, the priorities are so fucked for this administration and you're not, I don't,
Starting point is 00:08:21 I, people need to be hearing more about how they are going to be helped, what the government is going pay attention to, yeah, Fortune 500 companies and use that as a marker. And it's like, this is going to get really bad for a lot of people who are gig to gig and check to check and much faster than it is for any of those companies. Yeah, I can only imagine what the hand-wringing and back-and-forth is with a bank being like,
Starting point is 00:09:09 oh, we're going to freeze mortgage payments? Right. Okay, well, then I can't take my whole family to Aruba on a jet. Right. Yeah. Yeah. I think there's things that are happening at that level
Starting point is 00:09:23 where lending to the banks is a thing that then allows banks to lend to smaller businesses, which eventually trickles down to the gig workers. But I mean, it's the way that people who are service industry are treated as just way less regulated and nobody's paying attention to that um right and generally in america when when it comes to people who aren't being represented by a union or something like that it's generally not not great news for how they're going to be treated when it comes down to it at a time like this. Let's talk about one of the people, Tom Brady. Yeah, I mean, this is how I know. They just want to keep the normalcy going here because despite everything that's going on,
Starting point is 00:10:19 there are people still talking about where Tom Brady might end up next season. That's very optimistic to even be like yeah so next season when it kicks off uh you know we might who knows where we'll see tom brady not going to be the niners or the titans it looks like and it looks like it's down to the chargers buccaneers and patriots um so cool uh said very cool men very few people in this country right now i think i know sports is definitely offers a lot of people an escape and it for a lot of people uh gives us a sense of normalcy and for that not to be there i mean i understand why they're covering it but it's like so bizarre to read like any kind of predictions about what the next season is when we're you know going into an era of uncertainty even with our own economy and
Starting point is 00:11:06 industries and things like that but yeah brady man you might end up at the chargers tom tom terrific as we call him as you call him i think i should say you you're always as i call him yeah you're doing this tom terrific all the time uh absolutely finally penguins is trending at least in our uh google chat because uh super producer anna hosnier poured us a story about how the shed aquarium in chicago is shut down due to coronavirus and they are uh they've turned the keys over to the penguins apparently penguins now run the aquarium uh or yeah yeah there's they're just uh video and photos of penguins just walking around the halls of the aquarium i think they're doing it as a as sort of a fun activity for the penguins yes because even the animals at the zoo need stimulation too.
Starting point is 00:12:06 That's usually what the visitors provide, and I think they're even having to find new ways to feed them or just encourage them to energize themselves. Yeah. So, hey, look, if you'd like to see a penguin do the rounds and say what's up to some fish, definitely check out that video. Yeah, yeah. All right, that's what's up to some fish definitely check out that video yeah yeah uh all right that's what's
Starting point is 00:12:26 trending this afternoon we'll be back tomorrow morning with a whole new podcast and we're gonna talk to you guys then uh bye bye kay hasn't heard from her sister in seven years.
