Who do we think the third?
The third 80-year-old to go.
I'm not going to say it.
Yeah.
I don't want to jinx it.
Oh, a third 80-year-old.
Oh.
Because we have those witches in New York.
Yeah, we need an Etsy.
We got some 80-plus out there that I'm just saying, like.
Is this a time to put some money on some Etsy witches?
Or like on Fiverr?
There's got to be like a shaman somewhere.
Oh, no, he's still in prison, isn't he?
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah.
Kishamon?
Yes, right?
Kuch.
Kish.
When he got out, I was like,
Kewish.
I call him Jake, but.
Oh, he's out.
He's out.
Good for him.
Yeah, I'm just saying famous 80-year-olds.
Keep your head on.
Who's 80 right now?
Ooh, there's a big list.
Bill Clinton.
Donald Trump, Sylvester Stallone,
George W. Bush, share.
W is 80?
Ed O'Neill.
Henry Winkler.
What a year.
Leave Winkler.
Goldie Hahn.
Brian Cox, John Lick-Gow,
Danny Glover.
Cheech, Ernie Hudson, Liza Manelli.
Dude, this is too much, bro.
Ernie Hudson's 80?
That guy is ripped.
Bet Midler.
He is ripped.
Yeah, Ernie Hudson's six-pack?
Yeah.
Al Green, who just performed.
This is a Hollywood bull.
Linda Ronstad.
We're speaking it in the reality.
This is the reverse jinx.
Yeah, this is.
I'm just trying to say as many names now to dilute it.
James Bergen.
Brenda Blevine.
Brian Doylevin.
Oh, man.
Bolo Young.
He's 80.
I'm sorry.
I'm still trying to get around Brenda Bledon.
Sorry, yeah.
I thought for sure she was dead.
Hockey Bear, Antonio Fargus.
Jesus Christ.
Guys, now I'm worried.
Everybody, stay safe.
Damn.
Yeah, he just turned to me.
Don't eat anything to let it.
His son went to my high school.
Justin, Fargus.
And then went to the USC.
Targus.
Fargus.
I just got bit by the love bat.
And it's driving me,
Sad!
Son of a bitch!

Hey, this is Hayes Davenport.
And Sean Clements.
We host the podcast, Hollywood Handbook.
Each week, we talk to someone in show business and try to help them with their careers
and see what they have to offer us.
Everyone has a good time, and no one gets mad at their publicists for letting them do our show.
We've had a lot of great guests like Sarah Sherman, Adam Scott, Danny McBride, Ben Stillard,
and a lot of other big shots that wouldn't be where they are without us.
Listen to Hollywood Handbook on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
I'm Munga Chitigler, and I'm back with a new season of my podcast, Skyline Drive.
This time I talk to scientists, biopunks, kermudgens, blues owners, super seniors, and Goa's top cryotherapy lab
to try to understand this obsession with living forever and what it means for all of us.
And I get into a bit of trouble along the way.
I'd say probably start bone smashing.
That doesn't work.
Make it look more defined.
They say it works.
I don't know.

On the new podcast, Solita, we share the messy reality of traveling alone as a woman.
I can wait four hours for the next bus or this random dude is offering me a ride on his motorcycle.
I chose option B.
I'm Julie Pinero, and I travel by myself because it's a rare space where I can say yes without asking anyone else first.
I'm on a mission to reclaim the word Solita, trading the pity for possibility.

Hello, the internet, and welcome to season 453, episode four of DirtyEley's Akeye!
What?
It's written right behind me.
Oh, Jesus Christ.
That's a podcast where you take a deep dive into America's shared consciousness through the day's news.
We also have a new non-news history version of the Daily Zykeyes dropping each Monday morning called the iconograph, where we do a deep dive into the zeitguise through the lens of a different icon.
On Monday, we dropped a big one with Madonna Chikoni.
And then yesterday we reram the Dali Park.
RIP to a true ledge mate.
But those are the episodes.
They have a different logo, different name and everything.
Mm-hmm.
They're a lot of fun.
Right now here, it is Thursday, August 27.
27th, 2026. Oh, man, love this. It's crab soup day.
National Burger Day. National Codacrem Day with a real fine, fine dessert. And obviously,
shout out to all my oil and gas lobbies. It's National Petroleum Day. Hell yeah, man.
Yeah. Finally, a day where we can appreciate dinosaur blood. Thank you. Give us our dinosaur blood for our cars.
I kind of want to see
like what they've got cooked up
like what what the
probably hundreds of millions of dollars
being spent brainstorming
yeah best national petroleum day
everybody just puts on their leaf blowers for
15 minutes yeah yeah it's a 31 leafblower
saloes just aiming at how to cook up some napalm at home kids
they say as in recognition focuses less on consumer deals
What should be said for the entire industry.
And one, industry appreciation.
An educational outreach.
Oh, good.
Propaganda and...
Educational outreach.
Yeah, yeah.
It's a circle jerk pat on the back.
Guy goes by like a kindergarten classroom.
Yeah.
Hey, guys.
Petroleum.
Or just like does some cool stunt with fire.
Like, you know how I did that, kids?
Petroling.
Yeah.
Yeah.
What's saying?
It's dinosaur blood.
It should be actually pretty easy to pitch the children now that I
think about it.
Dinosaur goo?
Yeah, yeah.
I'm surprised they don't have like a, like the thing from Jurassic Park that was explaining
how they, like this is from Dino DNA.
Yeah, to be like, and this is why we need to keep killing the earth for it, kids.
My name is Jack O'Brien, A.K., my Mitchie lies totally frozen.
My Mitchie lies there in his seat.
My Mitchie lies totally frozen.
Oh, make Mitchie a retiree.
That one courtesy of Resick on the Discord.
I don't know what that's in reference to.
It couldn't be Mitch McConnell because he's fine.
You were just talking to him on the phone.
I just had a phone call with him.
Lively, Sprite.
And then he sent me a photograph of him holding today's newspaper with one side of his mouth smiling.
So that's pretty good.
He's very excited for National Petroleum Day.
He asked if you able to hop online to play 2K also.
Yeah, exactly.
W.W.
NBA? NBA? Because he's like,
I want to be LeBron on the Sixers.
I got to see what that's locked.
Yeah, he's a huge LeBron fan.
I'm thrilled to be joined as always.
They've got to be fooling with this line.
They got to stay healthy, though.
Can you imagine?
Mitch Noseball.
Thrilled to be joined, as always, by my co-host, Mr. Miles Bray.
It's Miles Grand Cay.
A, America, flock, yeah.
Surveillance.
State to stop my high school ex-girlfriend America
Flock, yeah, ratting you out to the motherflocking law, yeah.
Memes to an end with that wonderful.
Pretty good.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
It's been a while since I've got to sing that song.
America Flachia.
When that shit first came out, dude, I thought that was the height of musical comedy.
I was like, comedy.
Comedy?
Save the motherfucking.
Okay.
You mean the movie?
Did not?
There's a movie.
Team America.
I just know the album Team America.
Oh, yeah, there was a film, too.
It's kind of like Spinal Town.
Oh, cool.
Oh, I'm going to check that out.
I thought it was just straightforward songs about America.
I ain't trying to watch no Thunderbirds bullshit.
Fuck that.
Oh, you got a problem with Thunderbirds?
Miles, we're thrilled to be joined in our third seat by very talented,
writer humorous podcast host whose work you've seen in the L.A. Times,
The Guardian, the New York or the New York Magazine.
Herdom.
Heard him.
Herdom.
More if you're extremely well read.
the consummate podcast host,
professional wrestling expert,
uh,
please welcome the hilarious,
the fashionable,
the brilliant.
Dave!
Thank you.
Thank you for having me.
Once again,
I mean,
the credits just get longer for me.
Every,
every year's just,
stop fucking working,
dude.
They're trying.
Yes,
yeah,
yeah.
They're out there.
Trust me.
They're trying.
How,
what,
how hard is it to be writing still in the manner that you do?
Because like,
I see you're buying.
I read you in The Guardian all the time.
But I'm also like knowing my mom who also came from like print journalism,
how hard just writing is in general.
Are you,
where are you at in your existential dread?
Oh, I'm drinking this free coffee because I desperately need free coffee.
If there any snacks back there like jerky or non-perishable goods?
I've got a paper bag out.
I was noticing you were filling up Ziploc bags with coffee.
I was sure what that was about.
It's not great.
Yeah.
Yeah. But I see you working. I'm like, well, Dave's doing it. I don't have a choice.
Only the best, you know, winnowed it down. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Shitheads like me, you know, got kicked to the curb. Yeah. Because you're writing goofy shit, dude.
That's one, man. That's this goofy bullshit. Talk about some real shit. Yeah. Be serious like me. Yeah. Be serious like this show. Thank you.
Dave, we're going to get to know you a little bit better in a moment. First, we're going to tell the listeners a couple of things we're talking about today. We're going to get to know a little guy by the name of Jed York.
net worth $200 million
inherited from his parents
owner of the 49ers
and he's just part of a winning streak
that oligarch sports owners are on
so we just wanted to check him with that trend
we're going to check him with Akim Jeffries
because he he showed us
that he was real
over the weekend he's a real guy
he's a very charismatic and normal
based on him wearing all green in New York City
I'm like, are you a Trinitario gang member?
I don't know.
But I thought it would be Dominican to be in that gang.
Was a tag still on that Yankee fitted hat he was wearing?
Probably in the back somehow.
He's like, if you were in his head.
Yeah.
So we'll talk about that.
We'll talk about Trump's midterm strategy.
We'll talk about the cop's 3D printing fake flock cameras as bait.
And of course, we will talk about the new trend, the, you know,
exactly 10 years after the.
Killer Clown Scare of 2016.
We got a new one.
And it's giving Michael Myers.
It's also giving Mike Myers.
Because it is the cat in the hat.
All of that plenty more.
But first, Dave, we do like to ask our guests.
What is something from your search history that's revealing about who you are?
Recently, I googled whether or not the restaurant owner in New York.
Keith McNally has seen teenage sex and death at Camp Measma.
Okay.
So it's a convoluted story why I looked this up.
In his autobiography, I regret everything.
He tries to tell a very kind of risque story about hooking up with a TV star in the 90s.
And the pseudonym he used was X.
And everyone figured out it was Jillian Anderson because we're not stupid.
Oh.
Because he was just like, it was a very popular science fiction show for children that I did not watch because I'm, you know,
For children.
Sophisticated.
Yeah, it's not for kids.
Yeah.
So I was a kid and I did watch it.
Of course, I watched it, but I'm like, I watched it because I'm like, this ain't for kids.
Yeah.
That's how they get it.
Smoking, man.
Yeah, you're not supposed to smoke cigarettes at least.
That man is smoking.
And so I was fascinated by this story.
I have plenty of celebrity encounters, dates and things of that nature that I like to talk about publicly,
but without using the name.
You're not a coward.
Well, no, I'm not a coward.
No, I'm just trying to respect Monica a little.
And so I was like, I wonder if he saw that movie because he was so kind of disrespectful to her in the book. And I'm like, did he see this movie? Because, you know, he's got this connection to her. The New York Post was reporting about obviously it's her. We all figured it out because there are photos of them on the internet from this exact time. I don't think you seen it. Let's call her X. Nah, let's actually do file.
XF. Let's call her Agent Scully. Alien Gandersen. Yeah.
And yeah, I keep thinking,
maybe I should just, like, you know,
post on his Instagram.
Like, hey, buddy, have you seen this movie yet?
Right.
But I don't want to get blocked by here.
She's really good in it.
He's kind of a dick to people on Instagram.
What's his restaurant?
Balsar.
Oh, that guy.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, yeah.
And you know, I'm a classy guy, right?
Yeah, yeah.
And, you know, I'm a classy guy, right?
Yeah, like a steak.
Great fries.
I love French fries.
It's so classy.
You read autobiographies of people
that own classiest.
establishments.
Yeah, exactly.
That's classic as much.
Thank you.
I read and everything.
Yeah.
Crazy.
What's that like?
It takes a long time.
Yeah, yeah.
Especially when you're reading fanatically.
Yeah.
Yeah.
How loud.
Yeah.
On the bus.
He was disrespectful just in terms of not devising a better alias.
He, no, he just kind of made her sound crazy.
Oh, yeah.
Like, oh, she came over to my apartment and she spent the night.
Yeah.
To a certain type of.
man, all women are crazy.
I broke up with her and she got upset.
I was like, oh, no.
I thought she was going to take it well.
They were slept with her and we're like, you know what?
I love someone else.
Right, right.
That's the mentality of a man who goes,
well, there's certainly nothing wrong with me.
Yes.
So what the fuck is their problem?
Have you seen Camp Miasma?
I sure have.
It's great.
That's what I'm seeing amazing reviews.
It's from the creator of,
I saw the TV glow and we're all going to the world's fair.
Jane Schoenbrun.
Shonbrun, which, yeah, I'm excited to see this for.
I thought it was great.
I don't think it's their best movie, but every movie.
TV love is your favorite?
Yeah, I think so.
That one kind of devastated me.
I cried a lot.
Yeah.
Yeah, because I love TV.
That will do it.
Yeah, it's a film about the love story between a person and their television.
Yes.
Yeah.
I just watched, was it a, fuck, what's the Scorsese movie?
doesn't look here anymore.
Oh, my bad.
It reminds me at the Sopranos episode
where Christopher sees Scorsese.
He's like, Coondude!
Hey, Coondoon, yeah.
Yeah, so good.
Which one was it?
Alice doesn't live here anymore.
Oh, man, that movie's great.
And it has a moment where, like, she has a son
and she's having to, like, be a single mom and, like, go out and work.
And the son is just, like, sitting at home, like, watching TV,
like an inch from the TV.
And, like, for whatever reason,
And I found that, like, so heartbreaking because it just reminded me of my childhood.
I thought you were going to be like, yeah, reminded me of all the poor kids that I used to hang out with.
No, it was you.
Okay.
And that boy was me.
That boy was me.
I love a twist into.
Yeah.
What is something you think is underrated?
Air conditioning.
It is too hot outside.
I probably said this before because every time I'm on here, it's too hot.
Yeah.
Not in the studio, but just out in the world.
The world.
Yeah.
This is getting old.
I'm tired of it.
And I was in London in May, and they have no air conditioning anywhere.
So I just took the Elizabeth line back and forth until my flight.
That's the one air conditioner.
There's other ones, but like, that's a nice one.
When I was on the Piccadilly line, I was just dying in the two.
It's horrible.
And also, like, also I was trying to get to the Emirate Stadium because I was there to see
Arsenal stuff.
And the trains were just so packed with no.
It was like the hottest version of the two.
you could do where it's like sardines in a can.
Yeah.
But everyone's so lovely.
It was just,
that was the one part.
If like in America you're on a cramp train,
be like,
hey man,
stop fucking touching me,
bro.
Like you'd hear shit like that.
But here they're like,
oh,
you have an interesting accent.
Are you here for the Arsenal parade as well?
And I'm like, yeah,
came from L.A.
They're like,
bitch,
he came from Los Angeles.
And I'm like,
it's really hot.
I'm sorry.
You're actively sweating on them.
Yeah.
She's like wiping drops of sweat off of her face
that are just beating off of my chin.
They're so polite.
And they get,
rap in English, I think.
Probably because of the colonialism and all of that stuff.
And they didn't even do it.
The stuff, the people I met, they didn't even do any of it.
They weren't there for it.
Yeah.
A lot of them are ignorant about it, though.
Like here.
But hey, great group.
They've been to our museum.
Yeah.
Lovely, lovely bits and bulbs we have in there.
Bits and bobs.
The fucking Rosetta Stone with an army stamp on it.
I think I've been to that club by the airport.
Madonna does not believe in air conditioning.
Lives in London.
A lot of people in England, or in Europe in general, don't believe in it.
They're like, oh, it circulates germs.
Right.
Yeah.
No, it's circulating.
True?
No, I don't think so.
It circulates happiness.
I think it's one of those things, too.
Like, everyone has their version of being, like, of climate change denialism they're living in.
And because, yeah, since for time immemorial, it was a place you didn't need to really consider, like, how hot a summer is.
Yeah.
But now, like, I mean, the amount of people you see, like, with personal fans, I saw a lot of people rocking personal fans.
I saw a lot of people rocking personal fans.
Yeah.
Yeah.
What happens?
Yeah.
It's great.
Cool.
I always have a nice well-smelling penis.
Great.
My penis smells well.
Yeah.
Does that mean it smells healthy or does that mean your penis can actually smell?
It has the sense of smell.
Wow.
Yeah.
That's impressive.
Evolved penis.
Oh, it's not just talking like Ronald Reagan going, well.
Any more jelly beans?
So and the reason it's suddenly hot in Europe is immigration, right?
Yes, yes, the boats.
Right.
The boats that made it hot.
Maybe have something to do with Israel's connection to Morocco.
I don't know.
There's a whole thing there of like the whole boat's propaganda that's been launched now.
That seems right to me.
Yeah, I'm unclear why anyone would want to go from one country to another.
No.
That doesn't make sense.
Certainly don't come here.
All countries are the same and great.
Yeah.
Right.
According to what I've learned, they're probably.
here to Sierra bits and bob.
Yeah.
They'd probably never seen anything the like of which we stole from their country.
What is something you think is overrated?
Uh,
so I recently wrote for the Guardian about the, uh, proliferation of Halloween decorations.
In Target, CVS's, obviously Spirit Halloween is already open across Los Angeles.
Wow.
And I think this is horseshit.
Okay.
It's August.
Uh-huh.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
August is not October.
In fact, it is months apart.
Yeah.
There are multiple months apart.
Yeah.
And it's everywhere.
My friend Hallie, she bought a cauldron at Target.
And I'm like, what are you going to do with a cauldron now?
Yeah.
Well, I'll put change in there, my keys.
I don't know, stuff.
It's not Halloween.
It's like a little cauldron.
Yeah, a small, small.
A small, small.
You put it on like a, I don't know, your entryway table or something.
Yeah, yeah.
But it's not time yet.
even allow it in the house.
You can put it in a storage unit.
You can put it in a crawl space.
That's where my Halloween decorations currently are.
That's where they belong.
You're going to need to have a talk with my eight-year-old who has asked me every morning
for the past week.
All right.
Is it time?
He wants that big-ass switch in the front.
He wants the big-ass witch in the front.
He wants the skeleton up and he wants to add.
He's got some ideas.
Some notes about what we should be adding.
Listen, he's eight.
Yeah, yeah.
He's allowed to love Halloween in any way.
My job is apparent to kill his dream.
It's not time yet.
Yeah, exactly.
It's 90 degrees outside.
You'll know when I play the Bruce Buffer video, and he says, it's time.
Yeah, that's all I want is to wait.
Yeah.
But to me, and I say this in the piece, the problem is, I guarantee you there is a spreadsheet somewhere, an algorithm, some sort of data set that proves that people are ready to start buying this shit in August.
Sure.
as soon as the 4th of July is over,
all those big box retailers are like,
all right, let's get the skeletons out.
Let's get the witches brew and stuff out.
But it's not.
I still believe that seasons are dictated by the weather.
Not by capital.
But the weather means canceled this year.
We're not going to have seasons or Christmas by that metric.
No, not at all.
We're cooked.
We're literally cooked.
I have the same feeling when I see Christmas shit.
go up too early. That's the one where I go, not fucking yet.
Not. And I love that period. But I,
I love Halloween. It's got to be just in this very December.
You know what? Day after Halloween or Thanksgiving.
Yeah. Go for it. That's when it's popping off.
Go for it. Yeah. Before they out, hold on, bro. We still have to, you got to respect our
genocidal colonizer holiday first. Yeah. And that's how I say that to, if I ever want to run for
governor, I'm not caught out of your saying, I want to cancel Halloween. But I will say it's a
genocidal colonizer holiday. Halloween is?
Thanksgiving. Sorry, Thanksgiving. Thanks for Thanksgiving.
The zombies have been colonizing.
It's crazy, man. He would have won't go enough if he didn't say it canceled the
Halloween thing. That's the thing James Covewall was saying. Yeah, you shouldn't have said it's crazy.
He stepped on it. Crazy, man. Christmas used to be so compact.
Maybe this is just my dad's family, but my dad's family very into Christmas that has been passed
down to me to a degree that drives my wife a little bit crazy because I'm like art directing
the like,
really Christmas gifts,
like how,
what it looks like
when they come down
on Christmas morning.
Like,
oh,
you're really directing this scene.
I'm really into,
like I want,
I want the magic.
You're like the Brett Rattner of Christmas.
Thanks,
man.
Yeah,
that's exactly.
Yeah,
yeah, yeah.
It's a good guy,
right?
Very much.
The me-on-s-sine
of Christmas morning.
One of my dad's childhood memories
is going to get the Christmas tree
on Christmas Eve night.
Wow.
Christmas Eve,
they would go and get it.
I don't know. It must have been a discount. Like, in retrospect, I'm like, no, they couldn't have even been open. Like, you were getting one off of, like, a street corner or something like that. Okay. So how long did they keep it up then? I think just until like New Year's probably. Okay. So, yeah, that two were one week. Mine was that past Valentine's Day this here.
Was it really? Yeah. We got way too big a tree. And I just, it became dawn. It was like a reusable one. And I'm like, I don't want to take that down. Yeah. That's a real pain in the ass. Yeah. You're part of the problem, Miles. I know. I don't.
the problem.
I know.
All right.
Well,
so Halloween canceled this year,
it sounds like.
Yeah,
that's what I'm advocating for.
There's no more Halloween.
If it's too hot,
there goes your gubernatorial campaign right now.
I really thought I had a shot too.
They're going to clip that.
Ideal Halloween weather.
Fog?
Like 45 degrees,
50 degrees?
What are we talking?
Are we talking Celsius or Fahrenheit?
Yeah,
but 45 degrees Celsius.
That's what it feels like outside.
Yeah.
Yeah,
I want some fog.
You know,
I want some,
I want to,
like the,
the,
the crispness in the air.
I want to smell the fireplace.
Yeah.
You know what I mean?
Like, we don't get that.
Well, the good news is you can smell the fire season.
Oh, that's what that is.
Or the industrial fire at a refrigeration.
I thought for sure that was a barbecue spot at my place.
No, no, no.
It's been closed for three years now.
That's the lineage fire still.
Yeah.
Let's take a quick break.
We'll come back and talk about oligarch sports owners.
Doing good?
We'll be right.
Yeah, yeah.
They're doing great.
My SUV is worth more than ever.
Time to upgrade?
There's never been a better time.

On the new podcast Solita, we share the messy reality of traveling alone as a woman.
I can wait four hours for the next bus or this random dude is offering me a ride on his motorcycle.
I chose option B.
I'm Julie Pinero and I travel by myself because it's a rare space where I can say yes without asking anyone else first.
I'm on a mission to reclaim the word Solita, trading the pity for possibility.
Every time I tried to be alone, I kept meaning.
people and they were like, you smiled at us. Not a lot of people smile around here.
It's when you're alone that you're most receptive to the world as it is and not the lies
you're sold about it. It can be a time where you push your limits, change your mind,
or wake up to a new version of yourself. So whether you're a solo travel veteran or you're
too nervous to book your first trip, I hope you listen to Solita on the IHeart Radio app,
Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Hey, this is Hayes Davenport.
And Sean Clements.
We host the podcast Hollywood Handbook on the Big Money Players Network.
Our show is extremely accessible to first-time listeners.
Each week, we talk to someone in show business, aka The Biz,
and try to help them with their careers and see what they have to offer us.
Everyone has a good time, and no one gets mad at their publicists for letting them do our show.
We've had a lot of great guests like Sarah Sherman.
Not that great.
Actually, can you help me shape this?
How about we flip it on his head, right?
how about we flip the script?
Okay.
What is the surprise woman?
Who actually, you think is the straight man
is actually the one who's acting weird.
Adam Scott,
this entire time,
you've been expecting Adam Sandler to come to visit the show.
I would never expect.
I would never set expectations for something like that to happen.
If the universe allows for something like that to happen,
I'm open to it.
I'm always going to accept.
You know, Danny McBride, fine.
Yeah, it's all this fragile masculinity exuding.
I could smell it walking down the hallway, to be honest with you.
I was like, is that weed?
Nope, it's fragile masculinity.
Ben Stiller, no.
Because a lot of times out of context, people don't get it or even know what a circle is.
You know what I mean?
They're like, they're like, oh, what to state?
Everyone's so dumb.
And fake.
Right, fake and also not interested.
or just like, oh, I've got my life, I don't care about your life.
And a lot of other big shots that wouldn't be where they are without us.
Oh, and by the way, Will Ferrell told us personally he loves the show
and he wants to be a guest on every episode, but he's just so busy.

When I was 14 years old, I was kidnapped and held captive for nine months.
I survived, and I've spent my life exploring how other people survive what should have
destroyed them. I'm Elizabeth Smart and these are the survivor files. I just remember this low
taunting voice next to my ear saying shut up, don't say anything. Every week, I'm with survivors
who lived through the unthinkable. I knew if he woke up, without a doubt, he was going to hurt me.
I started feeling that there was someone at the end of my bed and I just started screaming.
are abducted, stalked, controlled, and nearly silenced.
But these aren't stories about what's taken from them.
There's stories about what it takes to make it out alive.

And we're back.
And guys, this isn't a sports podcast.
So we haven't been talking a ton about the state of the Los Angeles.
But they're having a bit of a tough run.
Yeah, the owner of both the Lakers and the Dodgers has...
Well, formerly the Lakers, yeah.
Formerly the Lakers.
Well, it's not done yet.
Yeah, yeah.
Right.
Jeannie's making up fun.
Still trying to, but yeah.
So he's apparently about to go down big.
Like people, I'm hearing people use the name Madoff in terms of, like, I don't think it's
quite there, but they're saying it's not Madoff, but that's never what you want to
You don't want to hear.
I mean, it's not quite made off.
It's not quite Hitler.
And you're like, we're in the neighborhood.
Right.
It's more of a Pol Pot situation.
Damn.
Stalin.
It's two days in a row.
Pol Pot has come up on the show.
Well, I mean, he left his mark.
Yeah.
I can't.
Yeah, but he basically was doing, so I don't, I don't understand finances,
but like he was borrowing against insurance companies in a way you're not supposed to do that.
He's leveraging the insurance companies.
taking money he didn't have and being like, well, look at how big this insurance company is type thing.
And then you'll just use a shorthand fraud.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Fraud is kind of the word for it.
Somehow, Jerry Cushner's brother, like, got words that this was really bad and was able to swoop in and get the Lakers for.
Yeah, right after Mark Walter gave Trump a World Series ring.
Yeah, that's interesting timing.
But yeah.
Interesting timing.
We, the Clippers, fine.
That scandal came to an end.
We have talked about that one before on the show,
and the NBA was like, nothing to see here.
They're good.
But in the murkiest way, we're like,
what do you mean there's nothing to see?
We saw a bunch of stuff that is things to see here.
Last year, Pablo Torre kind of outlined what Steve Balmer was doing as the owner of the
clipper, Steve Balmer, like one of the richest people in the world,
richest sports owner in the world.
And not only it wasn't shady as fuck,
but he also was able to be like,
and this is what he's always done.
Right, right.
This is what he did at Microsoft too.
Loss are merely speed bumps on the road to success.
So now we have,
we get to meet a gentleman by the name of Jed York,
who is one of the owners of the San Francisco 49ers.
Mm-hmm.
You're familiar with this football team?
Yeah.
I'm not a fan.
No?
I know that they exist.
So he was caught in East Palestine, Ohio,
which you may remember from a train derailment a few years ago,
soliciting sex from a sex worker for $160.
And so he wasn't actually soliciting sex from a sex worker.
He was soliciting sex from a undercover cop who just posted a thing on a website that was like,
cheap sex for rich man and uh he was the cop hot that's what he's at yeah when he got busted he's
like wait so is the girl real just show me just show me no showed up at the sting with exact change
in his hand wow um in his hand not a penny more not a penny less yes clutch to his chest with a carnation
in his hair and the phone that he had organized the deal
in his hand, like still a light with like text messages,
uh, walking up right now.
An alarm going off says meet up for sex.
I am person from internet.
Yeah.
Hello.
Walks right into this trap dick first and is immediately arrested.
So sex work is work and, you know, I'm glad that this wasn't a Robert Kraft situation
where there were actually sex workers who were.
like taken down with the rich person because I hadn't realized this, but, you know, people remember
him Robert Kraft's owner of the New England Patriots getting busted back in 2019.
He, you're not going to believe this, was able to afford really good lawyers who got him completely,
who got him off.
Someone had to get off.
I mean, that's just what he was looking for the whole time anyways.
Prosecutors pressed ahead against four Chinese women who worked at the massage parlor and the
women didn't receive the same breaks.
Instead, they received criminal records and about $45,000 in fines.
Yeah, because, I mean, yeah, it's all just so twisted because, like, yeah, we still live in this world where, like, we don't, we haven't decriminalized sex work.
So everything, just the existence of it is criminal.
And at the time, you don't know what gets somebody into sex work.
Yes.
But then this guy, I'm sure, was loving to exploit that fact to be like, well, cheap sex for rich man.
Let me go.
And has he made any statement that has he denied that he was there for that?
No, he wound up to it.
And he was just like, let's, we're going to put this behind us.
You guys, Niners fans?
No, we're not.
No, you're in Ohio.
We're brothers fans.
Yeah.
Oh.
Other details of details about the arrests is that he contacted the fake ad three times.
Like, hey, did you see it?
Not sure if you saw my message.
Oh, Jesus.
What was he doing in Ohio?
He's from Ohio.
Oh, okay.
The owner, like his whole family.
So he got this position in his $200 million by having rich parents.
And once again, proving America is a meritocracy where only the best and brightest are able to thrive.
What is, what, how did they amass such a fortune?
I have no idea, Miles.
Oh, I don't.
Probably completely ethically would be my guess.
But he, he amassed his fortune by being rich people's child and inheriting.
His first job was with the Guggenheim Foundation, which was a Mark Norman joint.
So that's...
Mm.
Mm.
He only worked there for a year.
Walter.
Mark Walter.
Yeah.
Mark Walter.
I was like the comedian?
Yeah, just ran.
It's like Mark Norman?
Who?
It's a Mark with a first name for a last name.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Mark Walter joint.
So, I don't know.
Just further good press for the...
the extremely wealthy oligarchs of this nation.
I wonder what the cops felt when they found out
that their clever sting operation led not to arresting
a regular person.
Right.
Where they would get a bunch of rewards and praise,
but a really rich sports owner,
everyone's going to be like,
he should have just let him go.
Right, right, right, right.
Because he's not going to get in any real trouble.
Oh, he also is co-owner of Leeds United.
Yeah, no wonder they're still.
stink.
And a lot of Americans play on that team.
Yeah, I know.
Good for him.
Good for him.
Well, speaking of undercover cop smiles.
Here's my badge.
You guys are all arrested for being unfunny.
I'm kidding.
Let's talk about Hakeem Jeffries.
My God.
He's been hearing it from everyone ever since they found out.
He was just chilling with Jared Kushner.
Right.
Who a lot of people were trying to speculate who the,
the go-between was.
They said it was due to a mutual friend.
I was on Vituation Room with Francesca Farentine yesterday.
And she was like, I'm pretty sure it's Van Jones.
She's like, I feel like that is the person who knows both of them and would be like,
hey, this might be a good thing for you guys just like cozy up together.
I think most people.
Link and build.
Yeah.
Link.
Look, fam, I'm trying to link.
I'm trying to build.
Okay.
Most people looked at his meeting with Jared Kushner like, okay, yeah, this dude is compromised.
And he isn't about to do shit.
shit to this administration if he gets the gavel, which I think most people are like, yeah,
this doesn't bode well for people who are looking for any kind of, um, accountability.
So he just posted a video looking like this is, I would say this he posted this on Tuesday,
uh, looking like the most obvious undercover cop outside of the next game, um, assuring people
that he is not going to go easy on the Trump cartel.
Yeah.
All right.
So this is Hakeem Jeffries.
I've got some spleenin to do.
upload version one.
What's up y'all?
Just finished up
an event here
in the community in Brooklyn
and wanted to give you
a little real talk
on this Jared Kushner
situation.
Okay, okay.
He asked for a meeting
and I took it
to discuss
the affordability crisis
that exists that is not a hoax.
What a...
How much time do you
I had to meet?
It's like he was lying
on the
spot.
Yeah.
We had a meeting and I took it at no boo to discuss the affordability crisis.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I can't afford a yacht.
There it is.
Go on.
Okay.
So that is not a hoax.
Thank you for for reassuring the people that you are aware.
By the way, anybody who's just listening to this should just be picturing.
He is oozing charisma.
Yeah.
He looks like Russell Simmons doing a cameo video.
Yeah.
This actually, this is exactly how Russell Simmons
you suggest with the whole.
Yo,
you know, Jim, I just want to say
happy anniversary to you and your girl.
Hey man, I'm loving it here in Bali.
Would love to be there in the U.S.,
but, you know, kind of having some misunderstandings
with the police over there, my guy,
so I will stay here in Bali.
Okay, go on, Hakeem.
At the same period of time, I shouldn't have to say it,
but I am.
No one is going to get a pass.
Uh-huh.
we're going to hold every single member of the Trump cartel accountable
including my new friend name name names if you're stealing from the American people
shortchanging the American people is he going to give a specific or screwing over the American
people a specific consequence to be held accountable held accountable there it is which is
his phrase like he's used that before right where he's like they need to be held accountable he was
saying this even like at the height of like I
Ice raids and brutalizing people and killing people.
It was just vague.
They need to be held accountable.
Boiler plate talk.
In what way?
Accountability wise.
Trust me, guys, I'm not compromised.
Okay?
I'm just saying we will stop them.
Also, do you have weed you want to sell?
To me, I'm not a cop.
I swear to God.
Or else I wouldn't be wearing this Yankee fitted.
That's three sizes too big for my head looking like.
Cassidy in 2005.
Yeah, I mean, it's interesting, like, how he evoked that because when we were saying, like,
when we first heard about, we're like, what could they possibly have common ground on?
Right.
Because a fort.
Jared Kushner is concerned with affordability.
No, because that's not what his, that's not what his lane is in the administration.
You know, who would be good to talk to about the affordability crisis?
A billionaire who just caused a mini French revolution in Albania.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
That's my guy.
He knows.
He knows.
He knows.
Because then I'm thinking like, what what does Kushner actually do with the administration?
Gaza, Israel, Iran, Ukraine.
Right.
So then I'm like, okay, that's the one thing he is sort of transparently involved with in the administration.
And then now that some time has passed, a lot of things have happened.
Like suddenly a lot of establishment Democrats launched like identical bad faith attacks against,
on Hassan Piker for being anti-Semitic.
And they use like an out of context clip where he was.
is saying that people continuing to insist that Judaism and Zionism are the same thing
will lead to more anti-Semitism and violence because that's you can't you can't use this defense
that you're saying all Jewish people want this to happen because now you're painting every single
person with that and for people as part of the horrible things but the Israeli military is doing
yeah and he said something's like if you keep doing this somebody's going to do something right
and then they're like you see what he said he's co-signing anti-Semitic violence without even
talking about the buildup to what like that point was.
And now the other piece of news is Hakeem Jeffries has appointed staunch supporters of Israel
to the Middle East and North African subcommittee, which is a powerful subcommittee.
This just happened like, yeah, like within a day of him posting that video, we just found out
about these new assignments.
And this is a very powerful subcommittee that shapes foreign policy in that region.
And this is how the Guardian described a quote, in an apparent effort to stem the anti-Israeli,
tied, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, a representative from Florida and Missouri representative
Wesley Bell, who just beat Cory Bush, will join the committee while Jared Moskowitz becomes the
Democrats ranking member on the subcommittee for the Middle East and North Africa.
Moskowitz predicted his position would become vital if the Democrats retake the House in
November's midterm elections, as many polls indicate, quote, if Democrats take control of the
House, all be in a position to help steer U.S. policy on Israel and the Middle East.
So you're like, maybe Jerry's like, link and build.
Link and build.
Let's wink.
Just putting places, putting pieces together just to sort of make sure that the status quo is maintained,
which I think a lot of people are pointing out that like, you've constantly seen all these new candidates.
Talk about our need to decouple our government from Israel's and actually have foreign policy that's humane, that's sane, and also domestic policy that is also considering the people here without just sending.
boatloads of money out.
So it's just, again, another moment, too, where you're just seeing the establishment be like,
oh, you thought you guys got a win?
Watch this.
I'm going to make it even harder so that the committees that are actually doing the business
on like Middle East policy is stacked with the people that wouldn't dare rock the world.
Absolutely insulated from any public opinion or any wins on the left or from people who
are critical or view Israeli military.
Because, I mean, like, on some level, we were saying, like, the,
one thing that I could see them having common ground on is being like, man, what's up with these, like,
he's like progressive DSA, like leftist candidates?
Yeah.
They're starting to like, they're starting to get some attention from like even independence or former MAGA people because of the way they're talking.
Like, we need to, we need to figure this out.
And when you look at Jared Kushner's history, I mean, like, this guy like literally had Netanyahu sleeping at his house as a kid.
It's not like, it's not, this isn't a far off thing.
Like it's a very close relationship.
Wait, he had Nettinghuff.
Yeah, yeah, like in the 90s.
Like babysitting him?
They're like, hey, Benjamin's coming over.
You need to sleep in the basement because he's going to sleep in your room.
The guest room?
Do you have any idea how nice his room must it?
Like, he must have had that who's the race car bed.
With his feet hanging off the bottom.
He must have had a bedroom like the bully from Peewey's Big Adventure.
Francis?
Yeah.
He must have had a Francis ass bedroom like giant bed.
Like if you're going to kick him out and put the head of like Benjamin Netanyahu in
there like what kind of room did this kick up was he the prime minister at the time or was he
just in the knesset uh let's see there are the at the time uh this was 1995 so no not not the prime
minister yet no not yet well okay so they just gave him a bunk bed yeah yeah yeah i sleep in a bed
shaped like a car i sleep in a bed with my wife he's like charles you're gonna have to do something
about this bed, man.
Way too small for me, man.
It's like rocks.
I can't believe it, man.
Yeah, Jared, I'll be out of here one day, guy.
Give me a second.
He sleeps with his eyes open, probably.
He's like, it's fine, I'll do it standing.
That's what I do anyway.
Just in the dark.
It's like the Bavaduke.
Like Mitch McConnell.
Yeah, exactly.
It just powers down.
Something about these guys.
They don't need real sleep.
No, no, no.
Probably because you close your eyes,
then you have to go into your subconscious.
Yeah, they get to,
about all the horrible things you've perpetrated on the world.
Purity of heart.
I think that's what it is.
Yeah, it's like this approaching midterm.
So on the Democratic side, they're like, we're seeing a lot of energy from the left.
We need to start criticizing Hassan Piker more.
And using it as a litmus test, too.
Because a lot of people are like, do you disavow Hassan Piker or whatever?
And it's like, dude, what?
I don't know.
They're trying to make, I think, because most people don't understand, at least the audience for
of these Hassan Piker attacks,
they don't know about Twitch streaming.
They don't know what that audience is like,
what younger people are thinking.
So it's much easier to just be like,
this guy's a freak to older people
who'll never look online.
They'll be like, yep,
that guy's bad.
Whoever that person is, I don't like them.
It's all games that get played on cable news.
Yeah, yeah.
And it's like gladatory games.
You know, it's like going to the Coliseum
and seeing a Christian fighting a lion.
Yeah.
Like, we're all watching this for fun.
But it doesn't really matter.
Right.
Right.
The things that they say on these, on these shows don't do anything to the real world.
If they did, polling would be very different right now for the midterms.
Like, I think people are just upset.
And most people aren't on Twitch, like you said.
Most people aren't streaming Hassan Piker videos.
They're doing normal stuff.
Yeah.
They're trying to pay their bills.
But there is a power structure in place.
Like, everybody who's running the campaigns and running the official Democratic
democratic strategy is like in the bubble of only like hearing what is on what is being said on
those shows yeah they should they should watch anything else yeah well yeah turn turn ms now off turn
CNN off watch lanterns on HBO max or something i don't know just like have yourself a night
anything yeah well i think it's like yeah it's like every sort of move we see from elites or from
politicians or whatever again always reveals their complete disconnect from the reality that
normal people like working people are involved in because I for them it's like the same way they
tried to take down like Zoran or whatever like just evoke the five stereotypes and that's would surely
he's a socialist Muslim 9-11 right that's not working because what he's saying is speaking to actual
people's lived experience and for this I'm sure their shorthand is like okay tie them all to
Hassan piker get this spicy clip yeah make that the thing but most people are going to be like I don't
know man what about gas like are you doing something about that I don't
I really don't know.
Like, it was easier to get caught up on that shit when, again, things weren't as existential,
but they're completely misreading the situation and how people are, like, going day to day right now.
But then on the Republican side, it's like, it's like a race to see who can fuck this up the worst.
Because Trump is, like, demanding that the entire midterm strategy be tied to him and about him.
Yeah.
The biggest liability.
Everyone would say, what's the biggest liability?
in the Republican Party.
Oh, it's got to be Trump's terrible approval ratings.
They're in the gutter.
If anything, you'd hope that you could make every race just about the candidates and
maybe hat tip to Trump out of respect.
But we don't need to get into the MAGA of at all.
Like, let's just kind of be like, let's see we can get an office.
So there was a meeting recently because Trump is like sitting on like over $400 million
in campaign cash to use.
And they're like, guy, the midterms are coming up, man.
I'm like, we need to fucking start spending some money here.
No, we got an affordability crisis.
I can't afford that.
I'm sorry.
Let's hold on to that just in case.
Maybe I'm going to put this in the bank, man.
The interest on this?
Might be good.
Might be good for me.
All the consultants and strategists are telling Trump the same thing.
Best way to spend this money.
Focus on individual candidates, local issues that are going to actually resonate with people
who are struggling, right?
And also to decouple them from your, I'm sure they're not saying this explicitly,
but also just to like make, be able to give them.
them, no, have a distraction-free campaign, which is being like, with not you fucking around.
But this is what happened. This is from, I think Politico, quote, but Trump himself has
rejected that approach. House and Senate Democrats, the president noted during the meeting,
will make their fall campaigns a referendum on him. His advisors told him that the poor polling
reflects the fact that the voting public still does not know about many of his accomplishments,
the dozens of new stock market highs, a decline in fentanyl deaths.
sealed southern border, the increase in domestic manufacturing production.
The solution Trump settled on, according to three people familiar the meeting,
was to lean into the Democratic strategy and focus on himself.
The president ordered a series of television advertisements about his own record
that will serve as a backdrop to the hundreds of individual House and Senate contests.
That decision has resulted in a Trump midterm election ad blitz that is set to be rolled out soon
from MAGA Inc., which is the main organization that is holding.
all that money.
It's bad.
It does seem better
than the Democratic strategy
of attacking the actual
candidates who are winning.
Yeah,
but this one,
he's just saying,
oh,
what are they doing?
They're saying,
I'm bad,
the defense,
say,
I'm good.
What if we tried that?
Yeah.
Have we thought about that?
It has historically worked.
Yeah.
I'll just say that.
I know.
Like,
in the strategy,
we make fun of it,
but,
uh,
I'm pretty good.
He's,
he's done okay for himself so far.
And I think that's the thing
where like,
just messaging-wise,
it's going to,
If people are offered a thing where it's like, hey, this guy, the declining fentanyl deaths and the sealed southern border, I mean, that appeal, the border thing appeals to people.
And fentanyl, like, yeah.
I mean, it's devastated lots of communities around this country.
The increase in domestic manufacturing production, I think, pretty narrow because, again, I think most people are trying to hear, like, the thing that I'm sure they've observed from successful candidates, especially progressives are like, telling people about shit they know will make their life better in a way.
they can understand.
Most people are like increased domestic manufacturing products.
Right.
What?
Again,
groceries?
Can I like,
can I eat this beef that you're about to sell that's coming at a cut rate from
Argentine?
It will be cheaper.
You should not eat it.
Don't eat it.
Don't eat it.
Don't eat it.
But it's very affordable.
Yeah,
it's very affordable.
But you cannot afford to eat it because of how sick you will get.
You said there is an affordability crisis.
What do you want me to do?
I'm addressing.
affordable, you're in a crisis.
How about that?
Roadkill everywhere, guys, enjoy.
Yeah, so again, like, just the self-padding on the back stuff, we'll see.
Because I think at the end of the day, the people who are going to vote Republican aren't swayed by really much anyway.
Like, they're going to do it because they're still bought in on, like, the MAGA project.
Right.
It's the independence that are clearly becoming more and more, not the kinds of people who are, like,
conflicted Republicans, but people who seem more of like a get for, you know, the left.
Yeah.
Let's take a quick break.
We'll come back.
We'll talk about the cat in the hat, of course.

Hey, this is Hayes Davenport. And Sean Clements. We host the podcast Hollywood Handbook on the Big
Money Players Network. Our show is extremely accessible to first-time listeners. Each week,
we talk to someone in show business, aka the biz, and try to help them with their careers and
see what they have to offer us. Everyone has a good time, and no one gets mad at their publicists for
letting them do our show.
We've had a lot of great guests like Sarah Sherman, not that great.
Actually, can you help me shape this?
How about we flip it on his head, right?
How about we flip the script?
What is the surprise woman?
Actually, you think is the straight man is actually the one who's acting weird.
Adam Scott.
This entire time, you've been expecting Adam Sandler to come to visit the show.
I would never
I have. I would never set
expectations for something like that
to happen. If the universe allows
for something like that to happen, I'm
open to it. I'm always going to accept.
You know, Danny McBride,
fine. Yeah, it's all this fragile masculinity.
Exuding. I could smell it walking down the
hallway, to be honest with you. I was like,
I was like, is that weed? Nope, it's fragile masculinity.
Mm-hmm. Yeah. Ben Stiller, no.
Because a lot of times out of context, people don't get it or even know what a circle is.
You know what I mean?
They're like, oh, what's a state?
Everyone's so dumb.
And fake.
Right.
Fake and also not interested or just like, oh, I've got my life.
I don't care about your life.
And a lot of other big shots that wouldn't be where they are without us.
Oh, and by the way, Will Ferrell told us personally he loves the show and he wants to be a guest on every episode, but he's just so busy.

On the new podcast Solita, we share the messy reality of traveling alone as a woman.
I can wait four hours for the next bus or this random dude is offering me a ride on his motorcycle.
I chose option B.
I'm Julie Pinero, and I travel by myself because it's a rare space where I can say yes without asking anyone else first.
I'm on a mission to reclaim the word Solita.
trading the pity for possibility.
Every time I tried to be alone, I kept meeting people, and they were like, you smiled at us.
Not a lot of people smile around here.
It's when you're alone that you're most receptive to the world as it is, and not the lies you're sold about it.
It can be a time where you push your limits, change your mind, or wake up to a new version of yourself.
So whether you're a solo travel veteran or you're too nervous to book your first trip, I hope you listen to Solita.

When I was 14 years old, I was kidnapped and held captive for nine months.
I survived, and I've spent my life exploring how other people survive what should have destroyed them.
I'm Elizabeth Smart, and these are the Survivor Files.
I just remember this low, taunting voice next to my ear saying, shut up, don't say anything.
Every week I'm with survivors who live through the unthinkable.
I knew if he woke up, without a doubt, he was going to hurt me.
I started feeling that there was someone at the end of my bed, and I just started screaming.
They are abducted, stalked, controlled, and nearly silenced.
But these aren't stories about what's taken from them.
There's stories about what it takes to make it out alive.
Listen to the Survivor Files with Elizabeth Smart on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
And we're back.
We're back.
And I'm still focused on giving flock the benefit of the doubt as their CEO instructed me to yesterday.
Yeah.
So you're willing to compromise?
I'm willing to compromise.
Your privacy for a form of safety that is non-existent?
I stopped listening once he said,
these are cars.
And like,
I like cars so much in the way that they've affected my way of life
in that,
like,
you know,
they're hurtling around everywhere
and make it difficult to walk anywhere with people.
And so I was like,
good,
we do need more flat cameras.
Other people who probably haven't heard that speech yet
are destroying flat cameras.
And so many of them are destroying flat cameras
that police in Florida are now 3D printing
fake-flot cameras as bait.
And despite the fact that the fakes cost a couple of dollars at most,
a guy who took one out with his dad's pruning shears,
has been charged with attempted larceny, grand theft,
criminal mischief of property damage worth more than $1,000
and property crimes against computer equipment supplies.
But it's a 3D printed plastic square.
That costs a couple dollars.
Yeah, that doesn't seem like it's going to hold up in court.
Yeah.
Yeah, you never know.
Or it's like one of those things is like,
If you can't afford it, then you're like, fuck, I guess it's just like plea out to this thing.
Yeah.
But if you're the head of the 49ers, you could probably get a lawyer.
Who could?
So they're doing stings with setting up fake bait cameras to then be like,
aha, got you, privacy liker.
Yeah.
It does seem like maybe this is similar to the sting operation on Jed York.
Thank you.
Yeah.
His rights were violated.
Uh-huh.
You ever think about that?
He just wanted to get a blowjob.
No, you actually want it.
full sex, actually.
Oh, full sex.
He clarifies with the cost.
No, no, actually.
I thought it was going to be.
It was actually 50-50.
And that's what I was here.
I also wanted to see if the person could count $160.
It's kind of a dual thing.
I was sort of doing a community.
So is it 150 and then a 10?
That's, we'd have to ask you.
Yeah, but I'm curious what the currency mix was.
Sure, sure.
We don't know.
We don't know.
I bet it was 820s.
It was 160.
That probably makes more sense because what an ATM.
I just like the idea, just scrounging up loose bills.
He'd just so desperate.
Anyway.
Yeah.
So they've got, I mean, this bodes well for flock where your product is so hated.
Now people are putting up fake-ass flock cameras.
Like, hopefully just cut that fucking thing down instead of the real thing.
Yeah.
My thing is, how can we're not in the era of using lasers to disable these things?
I think it is possible to use lasers.
I think it'd be really close because I remember as a kid
fucked up a camera with a laser pointer once.
Oh really?
Yeah.
Oh, laser pointer.
I thought you meant like a laser cannon.
No, no.
Oh.
I was like a Star World Blaster.
Yeah.
No, the laser moves at like 86 miles per hour.
Because you know, like people like aim them at like police.
Like you've seen those videos are like, they're like,
this guy's flashing a laser at us.
Yeah, yeah.
And they're like, arrest him.
Because yeah, those, that high burst of like light can mess up the
optics and a camera. I just know it has to be pretty powerful. Work smarter, not harder,
guys. It sounds like people, those are people who aren't willing to compromise. Right.
I do it the old-fashioned way. I get a saws-all and cut the fucker down. Yeah, yeah. Trying to do this
coward-ass laser pointer shit, allegedly. Let's talk about the cat in the hat. I think the UK and
Ireland have figured something out that... Like an agreement over a past
Troubles.
Yes, the troubles.
They've solved the troubles.
No, I think they've located a figure who could be our next great horror movie villain,
and that is the cat in the hat.
This must be generational.
Yeah, probably.
I mean, the original cat in the hat in the Dr. Seuss book seems like a good time.
It's a party, and then he cleans the party.
Like, that is actually his greatest superpower.
He cleans up.
He fucks shit up.
The kids are like, oh my God, I'm so stressed out.
Because, like, that is, there is a point when children's entertainment, the most stressful thing is, like, getting in trouble.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
They're like, oh, no, the mom's going to come back.
Everything's fucked.
Yeah.
And then he comes through with, like, a machine that, like, puts everything back, directly back in its place.
Somehow puts a cake back in its place that had been smashed.
Plot hole, Dr. Seuss.
But, uh, and, yeah, is a hero.
But I think, so I think there's a generation that mainly knows the cat in the hat from the Mike Myers movie, which has, that movie has bad vibes, to say the least.
I remember seeing the trade.
Again, it came out what?
I was in high school.
So that was 2003?
2003, maybe.
Yeah, 2003.
So peak me being like, man, get this shit out of my face.
That's something generationally, I could see me being like, do not care.
do not want.
It's also an ugly movie.
Aesthetically, the humor is kind of crude and stupid and just not a movie that anyone
who grew up with it remembers fondly.
Right, right.
Did you see the 2003 Mike Myers cat in that?
You know, baby?
Mike Myers is like my spirit animal.
Oh, okay.
If we're still allowed to say that.
I don't know.
I don't think so.
Oh, damn it.
All right.
Let's see.
Mike Myers is my God.
is a good guy.
So, yeah, I saw it, and it's terrible.
It's really bad.
And the makeup is scary.
Yeah, the makeup's funny.
And so I understand where this started to percol.
I guess that's what I'm saying.
It's generational in that, like, I'm like, dude, I don't even need that.
But I guess if you're younger, you grew up seeing that, then it's freaky as shit.
Yeah.
So the reason, there's actually a good explanation for why the Cat and the Hat movie was deeply cursed.
So Mike Myers was essentially forced to star in that movie as part of a,
legal settlement with Universal over the canceled Sprockets movie.
That's a great script, by the way.
The Sprockets script?
Yeah, it's on the internet if you want to read it.
Wow.
It's hilarious.
His monkey is stolen.
Oh, no.
And so he has to come to America.
Who was his co-hosts on Sprockets?
It was different every week.
It was always different, right?
Yeah.
This is the part of Sprockets where he danced.
He had Kyle McLaughlin on once.
Yeah, yeah.
That's like, I guess, that's what I'm always like, who was the person?
But he was just the main Sprockets.
Dieter.
Dieter, yes.
The film was called Dieter.
And it was just, the premise of Sprockets is like,
German people are fucking weird, huh?
Yeah.
Yeah, so not wrong.
The first part of the movie.
No, the first part of the movie took place in Berlin,
and it was all supposed to be shot in black and white.
And then he comes to America, and it's in color.
Oh, okay.
Wow.
I've heard that that's true of Germany.
It is quite bleak.
It's black and white over there.
Yeah.
It's like for the early parts of Pleasantville.
He was apparently so hard to work with that Oscar-winning makeup artist, Rick Baker, quit before production began, which explains the makeup, the mask.
You got Rick Baker to quit?
They got Rick Baker, and Rick Baker was like, no.
Rick Baker will do anything.
I mean, that's like the goat of, you know, creature makeup.
Yeah.
And you're, I wonder what the fuck he was saying to Rick Baker.
He's like, dude, if he fucking says that shit one more time, I'm telling you, I'm walking off this set.
Look, have you ever been in hours and hours of prosthetic makeup application?
Yeah, okay, never mind.
Then you understand.
I am right now.
This is not what I look like at all.
Mission Impossible reveal.
Oh, go ahead.
Can we just share what this image, the original Cat in the Hat costume worn by Mike Myers in the Cat in the Hat film is now being auctioned?
off by prop store
and it
I think puts everything into perspective
look at that guy
like decaying as we speak
like that is terrifying
yeah why wouldn't he be pissed off
all the time he had to put that thing on
what if the eyes looked like that
yeah they're just blank
if I'm saying if that creature was walking down the street
I'd be like oh fuck no well okay
so yeah the
what's happening in the UK and Ireland is
If you remember in 2016, there was a rash of like viral videos where people would just be like,
I was just driving down the street at 2 a.m. pointing my camcorder out the window when I happened to.
And then I looked back at the footage.
And there's just a clown, like a creepy clown standing there with like three balloons just staring blankly ahead.
And then there were early flock cameras capturing scary clowns coming up.
on people's doorsteps and like punching pumpkins or stabbing them with a knife as one that I remember.
It was effective and scary and then it kind of went away because the scary clown's lust for blood was satiated, I have to assume.
And they only appear once every four years.
But now with the option of AI generated footage, there's a new trend and it is the cat in the hat, just like people,
looking at their window and the cat in the hat is like standing on the street corner not moving
and then they hide and then they look back again and he's like crouched on a car like right by
the window which is yeah good scary shit that i think people are it's a it's a bad sign for the cat
in the hat brand that mike myers was so terrifying in it that it has become like like how people
have colerophobia over clowns yes there's a same amount of people like it's tapping into that for
this hoax i see mike myers and i scream
Yeah.
That's all it takes.
So weirdly, the true story behind the clown panic was that it was a promotional stunt for some shitty horror movie that then people started like copycatting.
Oh.
And so it like went viral to do that.
Damn, and that did great for that movie too, huh?
Yeah, called gags the clown.
Gags the clown.
Gags.
I'm gagging.
I don't know, man.
Yeah.
Unfortunately, that the viral marketing stunt was the most effective.
part of that whole offering.
Yeah, yeah.
It was the only thing anybody saw.
But Warner Brothers does have a cat in the hat movie coming out in November.
Yeah, I think Bill Hater is.
Bill Hater.
Yeah.
Oh, great.
So could this be?
Is this just a very strange viral marketing?
Bill Hater gets in the costume.
He goes to Northern Ireland.
This is Bill Hater.
I think Bell fast right now.
Yeah, he's like, he's like, they kick this shit out of me, these guys.
They're like, oh, yeah, we should have told you that.
They're not fucking.
They're in a Celtic game.
They did not want you in their neighborhood.
Why you're you wearing out of these guys.
Yeah.
So I don't know.
That loose theory.
I don't know how it would possibly help.
The Cat in the Hat movie seems like a real illumination.
Like, have you seen the...
Minions and monsters?
Well, minions and monsters.
Minions and everything.
But also the Grinch Minions.
Yeah.
The Grinch illumination.
Elimination Grinch?
Comberbatch.
Comberbatch.
Yeah.
And it's...
very, very bright and happy and cheerful.
So this wouldn't it, based on what I'm assuming,
the illumination cat in the hat is going to be like,
this is not a fit necessarily.
Well, yeah, luckily it's not live action.
You know, that's the benefit of this one.
Yeah. Yeah.
It's not, you don't have a freaky man dressed as a cat
that just turns into nightmare fuel.
But I do think this is like a powerful, like, demon.
Powerful shared unconsciousness demon
That I hadn't really thought about
The cat in the hat?
The cat in the hat
Mike Myers version
Yeah, right, right.
That's what I'm saying like
It's not, it doesn't have the same pervasiveness
Or ubiquity of like a cat
Of a clown.
Right.
But at a certain age,
it's like when they say Interstellar
is the greatest movie I've ever seen.
Right.
Yeah, right.
For them, yeah.
For them also right?
No, and I, I cried.
I cried.
God damn.
Watched again on the plane.
That's how I was with Austin Powers
The Spy you shag me.
Oh, yeah. Gold member does that for me every time.
Oh, yeah.
I love gold.
Dave.
Yeah.
Pleasure, pleasure having you on the podcast.
Oh, no.
Are we done?
I know.
I got to go home.
Yeah.
People don't realize we edit, we cut this episode down from three hours.
Yeah.
And that was a joke.
I brought my sleeping bag and everything.
I don't think I'm going to make my rent this month.
Feel free to take some coffee, though.
This mug.
And bring the zip lock bags.
And bring the Ziploc bags back next.
I'll wash him out.
Thank you.
Like my mom does.
You've lined your handsome blazer with Ziploc bags.
Yep.
Always prepared.
Where can people find you, follow you, here, you see you, all that good stuff?
I am on Instagram at D.W. Schilling.
I am on X at Dave underscore.
That is, of course, you know, Jillian Anderson's.
A favorite social media.
Yeah.
And you can read me every weekend on The Guardian.
Amazing.com. Is there a work of media that you've been enjoying?
Let's see. There's this meme of, I forget what the premiere was, but it's Zendaya laughing.
It's like she's cackling in this kind of very exaggerated fashion, and it's been used across social media for various things.
I can't remember a specific one, but just the idea of Zendaya laughing, I don't see her laughing.
often in public.
I think celebrities aren't allowed to laugh.
Yeah.
I've been wanting for a long time to run up to her and tell her she should smile more.
Marie, Marie, Marie, you're using her real name.
Wait a minute.
That's not her real name?
Yeah, yeah.
And I found out because Tom Holland said it at a premiere and I was like, isn't it so cute?
He called her by her real name.
And he's like, Marie, what was the name of the Jolotto place we went to?
You know, he loves Tottenham.
I know, he sucks.
That's why Andrew Garfield.
is a one true spider man.
That's right, baby.
I actually, speaking of
Andrew Garfield,
speaking of Garfield.
What I was Googling,
Garfield,
I got some Andrew Garfield.
There's an upcoming Robin Hood movie.
It's not a Robin Hood movie.
That's bullshit.
It's not.
No.
Isn't that it become controversial or something?
It's based on a true story
that people say
is what Robin Hood is the basis of Robin Hood.
Okay.
Yes.
It's called the,
Uprising.
Yeah.
Directed by Paul Greengrass.
It's wild that it took this long for people,
because they make a Robin Hood movie every three months.
And it's wild that it took this long for people to be like,
man,
what if we like made one where he like fucked with the poor?
And like there was like a working class uprising.
Right, right.
It's like that's the story.
Why have you not focused on that?
Right, right, right.
Instead, there's like the Kevin Costner one where he's like a rich guy.
Yeah, we don't want to tie that to real life.
Right.
You can rise up against.
your oppressive, you know, lords.
He's the prince of thieves.
Just like Jared Kushner.
And then he also played Sam Altman, right?
And he recently was playing Sam Altman, Andrew Garfield.
Is he?
Yeah, yeah.
And what's that movie called?
Artificial.
Luca Guadino.
Yeah, the one that got like shit canned because.
Yeah.
Because Amazon was like, but he's our friend.
Yeah.
We like him.
Miles, where can people find you?
Is there a working media?
you've been enjoying.
Yeah, find me everywhere at Miles of Gray.

And also I'm talking about 90-day fiancé.
I'm 420-day fiancé with Sophia Alexandra.
A work of media.
I like.
Oh, it's, okay, there was this one that really got me.
So there's, you know, Gio Rainbolt, the guy who's a guy who's a
the geogessor.
Oh, yeah, yeah.
He's like, this is a picture of my mom in 1980.
Where is this?
And they're like, it's actually this place.
Anyway, so this one just caught me as like a Laker fan who was brought into Laker
fandom through my dad.
This guy, like sent him a message like last month and was like, hey, this is a picture
I took with my dad at a Lakers playoff game.
I know it's from 2004.
I just don't know when.
I just know he passed away a little bit after this around the time.
And he, though the way this guy again, because he's,
fucking just he finds out,
you know,
finds the game specifically.
And then at the end,
like,
there's like this beautiful,
like thing where he like,
finds another clip of him and his dad
that the guy didn't even realize existed.
Wow.
And it's like,
it was just so,
I was from the background of,
uh,
it was from a broadcast.
Wow.
So the photo was like him and his dad.
And then he's like,
and here is another memory to share that maybe his memory can live on longer.
And like they're playing that like cinematic orchestra of music.
Jesus.
is always part of that like hope core edit.
And then I was just like,
Oh my God.
I've been to a Laker game with my dad.
And the twist is it was a 2004 NBA finals
and no one really wants to remember that at all.
Exactly.
Really?
Oh.
Did Carl Malone play in that game or not?
I don't know.
We didn't get the specific.
I mean, he knows a specific game.
I want the box score.
Yeah, I want to see how much Kobe put up.
Give me the whole thing.
Yeah.
I've been enjoying some work
just the Dolly Parton
like the clip of her singing
Slime the Family Stone with Kermit,
The Frog, did you see that one?
Her voice is so fucking good.
I was like, damn, this is better than the original.
Her singing with Kermit.
I like to tweet from Henry the vacuum
like right after the news hit
wrote, that bitch Jolene did this.
And I like from Josh
old friend 99.
tweeted, Dolly Parton taught me it was okay to be universally beloved.
All right.
Yeah, it's tough for me too.
It is, right?
Yeah. It's, guys, it's not your fault.
You do what we can.
It was one really good one where it was very beloved.
Somebody tweeted like, yeah, Dolly Parton was at this concert and somebody screamed from the crowd,
I love you.
And she said, I love you too, but I told you to stay in the trunk.
That's the Dolly Parton I want to remember.
That's right.

This is just like a kind of hard-ass UK track called Boke-K-C-R-E-H-C-R-E-E-P-E-R by Solomon.
You're going to find this one on SoundCloud because it's not on the other platforms.
But this is one of those tracks.
I don't know if you, I know some of y'all DJ.
I shared it with Justin because he's in the midst of working on some garage mixes and things like this.
I'm like, this is the kind of music you want to drop in a set that will make the earth.
crumble. And also, fantastic
instrumental. If you wanted to throw an acapella on top,
maybe you could make something fun too. I know most people aren't
doing that with music, but hey, I'm just going to say that
