Good luck fitting all that into a title. That is courtesy of the brew.
Starting point is 00:02:26 And yeah, just a cool saying that I always say when I'm, you know. Here's to the dice on there, remember? It trends on there for yet. What did Jack? I think he said sight instead of night. Say it at weddings, at a Starbucks. It doesn't matter, bro. I've been saying it before this show
Starting point is 00:02:46 all right well uh i am jacking you are miles and we are about to go live baby oh yeah a couple hours we're we're gonna end this recording and go straight to the stew go to the stew to do our live show which i am increasingly excited about increasingly certain that it's going to be a banger chris crofton is vibrating with excitement he keeps texting me goes oh my god i can't wait i can't wait and when we were talking to him yesterday at the studio he was just like oh man i just thought oh he's like it's just me i'm like yeah we want you to like when we do the podcast like oh i'm so excited he might be so turnt up the outfits are together uh where it's gonna be come through yeah come through y'all all right
Starting point is 00:03:40 but before we do any of that uh here are some things that are trending here in the present tense uh not in the year 2000 which our show is about yes apple crisp macchiato is trending um because pop sugar uh is saying that they've had it uh this is the new stirbucks uh kind of fall creation and they're saying you know what this might even be better than pumpkin spice uh you didn't hear it here first um which i did actually i did hear it there first that's the only place i'm hearing it but they they say the apple crisp macchiato is really good oh great which can't wait can't wait for me to not go to starbucks again yeah ever you're out i'm just not that i protested i'm like i just don't live near one anymore yeah so i go local uh and i don't you
Starting point is 00:04:35 know like i just buy like buckets of cold brew at a time like the starbucks one doesn't really hit the same so you know we all have different needs than that open top bucket that you just carry around yep yeah you know i do i go to denny's i say hey y'all got some coffee you're trying before you throw it out down the drain and they go yeah yeah and they're like hey the coffee guy's here fill up my home depot bucket and i keep it oh god the home depot book a big orange lucky i feel like that thing has never i feel like they don't even make like in the manufacturing process they don't even intend to make that clean they're like this is they don't yeah people's boots are going in this people's for concrete and although it's wild when i have
Starting point is 00:05:17 seen the the home depot orange bucket deployed in a food service context oh really yeah like filled with like batter and shit probably not a customer facing i'd imagine i don't know i was i mean i'm not i'm not gonna shout anybody out but i look y'all do business a certain way but the food is still delicious i'm not mad at it all right magic key is trending what are we talking about we're talking about showtime oh uh yeah i thought you're talking about magic is the top of the key to the lakers offense that's where he operated from you know just had all the court available to him um no this is a new disneyland thing and so if it's disney it's trending because people are treating this shit like coachella so i guess it's like an annual passport that they
Starting point is 00:06:02 discontinued one i guess some dash some past look and y'all can crucify me in the comment i don't give a fuck but uh they have this new magic key that gives disneyland uh disneyland fans the chance to pay a set price for repeat admission with a higher cost translating to more available dates and fewer blackout dates that that kind of tracks with like what you've seen for people who have annual passes uh they said the biggest difference it requires users to make a reservation before they visit Disney or California adventure in the, in the context of,
Starting point is 00:06:31 uh, California, regardless of which one they choose. Uh, so I don't know. They just making fucking resi's for the funsies up to 90 days in advance. So it's, it's trying to combat the, the uh those of us who would
Starting point is 00:06:47 just go to disney like get the annual pass and just go to disneyland to just kick it um you know just hang with our gang when was the last time you were there it was when ramsay was three oh it was one so two years ago you're due huh yeah man big time i keep hearing parents uh i've talked to keep being like skip disney go to lego land uh because disney is a lot right um yeah so everyone actually that's like the one i know a few parents like they go to lego land constantly yeah i hear it's easy. It's walkable. And you just have to get over the fact that the rides are for kids. You're not there to...
Starting point is 00:07:31 Which I'm not going on rides anyways anytime I'm going somewhere with my kids. Right, right, right. Yeah. Shout out to Legoland. Shout out to Legolas. And shout out to Disney. And the Lord of the Rings. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:44 Also Legolas. i've never seen the second and third of those and i don't even remember the first one because i only watched it high at multiple times but just only high oh man there's a sick part he rides a fucking shield like a surfboard really yeah dude nice dog alia is trending for like kind of a number of reasons. Uh, it is the 20 year anniversary of her death, uh, which, you know, horrible tragedy, a real sliding doors moment for the culture. Cause you know, she was going to be massive mate, uh, already was, but was gonna, you know, she was so young and, uh, just starting a career that was going to be you know she was so young and uh just starting a career that was gonna be
Starting point is 00:08:25 like she still has some songs that are such fucking classics which is another reason she's trending because the uncle of hers who controlled the rights uh just opened her music up to streaming services uh for presumably a very good payout. So shout out to Aaliyah's estate. Although remember, that's the thing. They're beefing though. Because the estate, the uncle has the masters and the rights to the music, but the estate, they're kind of in limbo with that.
Starting point is 00:08:59 So it's like, but the fans, we want the music. So yeah, it's hard to square all that. Yeah, and the other reason she's trending is because as this R. Kelly trial goes along, one of his accusers said that essentially he was, he bribed, R. Kelly bribed a public official to get a fake ID for Aaliyah so he could marry her. And then he also said that one of the, this accuser also said that he married Aaliyah so that she could get an abortion.
Starting point is 00:09:27 Um, cause she was 15 when they, when they were married. Fuck. So that was, it's a whole, what a fucking mess. Like we,
Starting point is 00:09:36 you know, I always say history is a nightmare we're waking up from. And it was, it was a lot more recent than we think that pop culture was just like, yeah, she's... This was 1994. That is unbelievable. Yeah. And yet believable.
Starting point is 00:09:51 Yeah. Also, I think Aaliyah is also trending because one of her songs is in the mix on our show for tonight. So tune in for that. I think people are just getting hyped. Oh my God, what an apt fucking day i know real because they know if you've seen the live show i was like daniel you gotta keep we gotta let that cook in the mix and now okay all right rest in peace yep there some nfl teams are going through going through something you hate to see it that some of the best people on earth, uh, NFL owners and, uh, just the league in general.
Starting point is 00:10:25 Uh, but they are dealing with the consequences that their quarterbacks are, um, pro disease, anti vaccine, um, Minnesota Vikings starter, Kirk cousins,
Starting point is 00:10:39 uh, of you like that fame? He, after, after a good game, a rare, good game. He was like, you like that? he after after a good game a rare good game he was like you like that you like that yeah anyways he shockingly is uh not a big fan of the science and he's been like kind of out and proud about that uh from early on lost some some deals uh, over, over that. I think he was like in partnership with a, with a hospital and they're like, Oh, not so much anymore, man. We don't like that. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:13 You really wouldn't want to get a procedure at the Kirk cousins surgery center. Uh, probably, uh, Lamar Jackson, uh, probably the best player in the NFL or like one of them, former MVP, has been sidelined while in isolation after testing positive for the virus for a second time. And Newton Cam will miss two joint practices with the New York Giants before he's eligible to return to play for the Patriots because he, I guess, hasn't been vaccinated and was exposed. So he might lose his starting job, actually,
Starting point is 00:11:53 because the Patriots have a rookie that they like. Shout out to y'all. Hate to see it. And yet you don't. All right, let's take a quick break and we'll be right back. All right, let's take a quick break and we'll be right back. Matt Bomer. Thank you for that introduction. I'm going to slip you a couple of 20s under the table for that. Emma Roberts. When it came into my email inbox, I was like,
Starting point is 00:12:31 okay, I know I'm going to love this so much that I don't even want to read it. Because if I can't be in it, I'm going to be bummed. And Colin Jost. You know, your wife was the first guest on Table for Two. It's come full circle. As long as I do better than her, I'm happy. Table for Two is a bit different from other interview shows. We sit down at a great restaurant for a meal, maybe a glass of rosé, and the stories start flowing. Our second season is airing right now, so you can catch up on our conversations that are intimate, surprising, and often hilarious.
Starting point is 00:13:01 Listen to Table for Two with Bruce Bozzi on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. This summer, the nation watched as the Republican nominee for president was the target of two assassination attempts, separated by two months. These events were mirrored nearly 50 years ago when President Gerald Ford faced two attempts on his life in less than three weeks. President Gerald R. Ford came stunningly close to being the victim of an assassin today. And these are the only two times we know of that a woman has tried to assassinate a U.S. president. One was the protege of infamous cult leader Charles Manson. I always
Starting point is 00:13:42 felt like Lynette was kind of his right-hand woman. The other, a middle-aged housewife working undercover for the FBI in a violent revolutionary underground. Identified by police as Sarah Jean Moore. The story of one strange and violent summer. This is Rip Current. Available now with new episodes every Thursday. Listen on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:14:09 Substance use disorder and addiction is so isolating. And so as a black woman in recovery, hope must be loud. It grows louder when you ask for help and you're vulnerable. It is the thread that lets you know that no matter what happens, you will be okay. When we learn the power of hope, recovery is possible. Find out how at StartWithHope.com. Brought to you by the National Council for Mental Well-Being, Shatterproof, and the Ad Council. Hey, fam. I'm Simone Boyce.
Starting point is 00:14:42 I'm Danielle Robay. And we're the hosts of The Bright Side, the daily podcast from Hello Sunshine that is guaranteed to light up your day. Every weekday, we bring you conversations with the culture makers who inspire us. Like a recent episode with Latin Grammy winner, podcast host, and TV personality Chiquis about making a name for herself as the eldest daughter of beloved singer Jenny Rivera. I'm not afraid. And I think that that's why I've been able to kind of do my own thing and not necessarily stay in my mom's shadow, because I'm not afraid of stepping out of my comfort zone and shaking things up a little bit, because that's the only way I feel that you're going to make history. Listen to The Bright Side from Hello Sunshine on the iHeartRadio app,
Starting point is 00:15:23 Apple Podcasts podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts and we're back uh and only fans has gone back on their ban on, I guess, sex work, basically. Mm-hmm. Saying no porn. They first said no porn in October. And then they're like, wait, never mind. Actually, it's okay. We realized that that's what our whole business is.
Starting point is 00:15:58 Just helping people, you know, post images they want so they can make some money. Okay. But I think a lot of people, especially like sex workers who have been in this scene for a minute are like, no, this, I don't know. We'll see where this ends up. Because the fact that they even went for it in the first place, it doesn't bode well to know like whatever their like long-term shit is. But clearly abandoning the entire format is not a good decision. Right. Um, it doesn't bode well to know like whatever their like long-term shit is, but clearly abandoning the entire format, uh, is not a good decision. Right.
Starting point is 00:16:30 Um, just because, you know, cause there's a lot of outside groups who are like these anti-porn crusader groups who like put the pressure on places like MasterCard and Visa to not like handle pornography transactions and things like that. And I think that's where they were kind kind of they're trying to navigate this world where sex work is an absolute abomination rather than just fucking legitimate work right well good good that it's moving in the right direction bad that it was a thing in the first place i guess crispy cream is trending. Yep. So they're now offering. Figured it out. I think we're good here.
Starting point is 00:17:09 Herd immunity achieved. They're now offering two free donuts for getting vaccinated. You know, the research has shown that, you know, small guaranteed payouts for doing the right thing are not as effective as like big massive one like the lottery for a million dollars that ohio was doing to get people to get vaccinated but krispy kreme was like why don't we just give the big payout to everyone then game over and you know here we are two free donuts two free i'm going there right now. Yeah. To get my two free donuts. And that feels better.
Starting point is 00:17:46 You know, one free donut, you're like, dude, I'll eat that shit before I even leave. That is true. Two? Well, hold on. Well, hold on. Maybe I'll stop eating horse dewormer and get the vaccine. That's something we haven't talked about, have we? That horse dewormer?
Starting point is 00:18:01 It's all over the place man i just i have like such fatigue in like covering the just the same name just bizarro shit that keeps popping up it's like it's because it's always gonna be some other thing and the next week is is this your way of quitting the show no no no it's my way of saying that krispy kreme is now offering three donuts. Hey. So come on through. And finally, we have to say Miles's famous catchphrase. Well, it's she. Well, it's she. Well, it's she. Well, it's she.
Starting point is 00:18:33 Well, it's she. Well, it's you. New Zealand. Finally. Yeah. Not so high on their horse now, are they? not so uh high on their horse now are they thought they were all perfect with their zero covid cases for all that time you fucked up new zealand we are we're truly like the scene in the simpsons where homers burnt up to a crisp and trying to be like well it's either flanders like
Starting point is 00:19:10 to flanders like no man we've been fucking up but just out of the just morbid humor of this entire pandemic you know they've had they're going into lockdown um and just the the articles are like truly it you know y'all have listened to the show and you know how guy montgomery who's from new zealand would come on and be like what's it like over there yeah and just like oh must be terrible oh god um and like because we were always like having articles at the beginning of the pandemic like what to do things to consider in a lockdown those are like now that's what's like them like a lot of the articles now in new zealand and it's just kind of bizarre to see in august 2021 articles that we were reading in like late march of 2020 and that being someone else's reality but also just speaks to how the pandemic like moves around and shit
Starting point is 00:19:51 like that but yeah yeah to be fair their cases their cases mind you have not reached uh 200 uh they they're still you know traceable to the point that they know who brought it into their country. They're like, oh, this dude went to Australia and he fucking brought it back. Fucking fill you. Fucking idiot. And then they're going to be fine because
Starting point is 00:20:17 they're able to get buy-in on things like a lockdown. Mask usage. Yeah, they will wear masks. They will only shop for essential goods, only leave the house to obtain medical care. And their business leaders are not the final word, are not the bottom line of the country.
Starting point is 00:20:39 So, you know, if they have to sacrifice for a couple extra weeks, you know, not the end of the world for them. The sense of unity down there. Yeah. Yeah. It's I. Yeah. It's again, we live in a fucking weird fun house where like I'm even like we're outside and dying. So New Zealand, I hope y'all get through it.
Starting point is 00:21:09 My heart is with y'all. Love the Kiwis. Yeah, yeah. We'll have to have Guy on soon to just, you know. Yeah, just to turn the tables on him. I can't wait to see the look on his face. He just burns us with just like more, just very simple observations about America.
Starting point is 00:21:26 Like, Oh damn, he's getting us. Did it again. Uh, all right guys, that is going to do it for us this afternoon. We are going to go record the live show.
Starting point is 00:21:37 It's going to be so fun. Uh, we hope to see you there. We hope to hear from you on the chat. Yeah. Yeah. Um, maybe you'll even be uh one of
Starting point is 00:21:46 the people who we quiz whose comment we call out and then even if you can't make it tonight you can get the video on demand uh yeah moment house dot com slash uh the daily zeitgeist is that the name of our show yep and yeah i'm just oh just a warning the swag and the drip will be set to 2000 yeah prepare your fucking which is appropriate yeah yeah prepare thyself prepare thy ass for this all right y'all uh we are back uh tomorrow with the whole last episode of the show until then be kind to each other. Be kind to yourselves. Get the vaccine. Don't do nothing about white supremacy. We'll talk to
Starting point is 00:22:30 you all tomorrow. Bye. Bye. Kay hasn't heard from her sister in seven years. I have a proposal for you. Come up here and document my project. All you need to do is record everything like you always do. What was that? That was live audio of a woman's nightmare. Can Kay trust her sister, or is history repeating itself?

Starting point is 00:23:42 and I'm so excited about my new podcast, Rebel Spirit, where I head back to my hometown in Kentucky and try to convince my high school to change their racist mascot, the Rebels, into something everyone in the South loves, the Biscuits. I was a lady rebel. Like, what does that even mean? It's right here in black and white in print. It's bigger than a flag or mascot.
