Hello, the internet, and welcome to season 449 episode two of their daily zeit guys.
Starting point is 00:03:30 Yeah! It's a production of IHart Radio as a podcast where we take a deep dab and do America's share consciousness through the day's news. We also have a new non-news history version of the Daily Zykeyes driving each Monday morning. we do a deep dive into the zeit guys through the lens of a different icon. Last week, we did David Lynch, and yesterday we dropped our The Dude episode from Big Lobowski. Good episode, a lot of fun. I could talk about the Big Loboski for 18 hours, unfortunately, for the people who love me. But yeah, there's some fun fan theories, there's some fun behind the scene stuff, there's some
Starting point is 00:04:12 philosophy thrown in there. Good episode with Vince Mancini. Yeah, yeah. So you can go check that out. It is Tuesday, July 28th, 2026. Yep, it's National Milk Chocolate Day. It's also Buffalo Soldiers Day. Not again, for people who know, this is not the Bob Marley fans.
Starting point is 00:04:34 We're talking about the all-black army regiments that formed after the Civil War. Also, National Soccer Day. And another thing that's very close to our hearts, Jack, National Water Park Day. Okay. Oh, really? We love a water park, baby. Damn. I didn't realize I was celebrating.
Starting point is 00:04:52 I was doing like the equivalent of the 12 days of Christmas last week when we were in the Bahamas. So 12 days of water park day. I hope there's a slide near you, Jack. You can go enjoy, you know. Hey, Mr. O'Brien. I'm recording in my dad's garage right now. He just walked away. walk through the background.
Starting point is 00:05:12 He had total dad posture trying to not interrupt, like head down, just sort of like, I'm not here. Just pretend I'm not here. Hey, Mr. O'Brien. Oh, hey, Mr. O'Brien. We do have the drinks fridge, the garage fridge with drinks in it over here. That's why. That's why it makes sense.
Starting point is 00:05:31 Anyways, my name is Jack O'Brien, AKA, and I'm glad my dad wasn't in here for this part. Ooh, I need that lettuce on my Taco Bell. Give me salad greens now Don't care about toilet hell Groaning Sweating Explosive shitting We've got to cover this story
Starting point is 00:05:55 Eight days a week That one courtesy of Emery's on the Discord In reference to the fact that we We covered the Taco Bell Explosive Diarrhea outbreak for Eight days in a row Yep Yep, yep, yep, yep, yep
Starting point is 00:06:10 And we'll keep covering it. You give us more stuff to talk about, Taco Bell. We'll come right back to you. Yeah, yeah. I'm thrilled to be joined, as always, by my co-host, Mr. Miles Gray. Yes, in honor of all the pool fun that was had in the Bahamas, it's Miles Gray, a.k.a. asshole stunned, broke my bum. Cliff jumping was insane.
Starting point is 00:06:33 Asshole stunned. Broke my bum. Broke my bum. Broke my bum. Asshole stunned. Shout out the brew for that one because I thought I was pencil diving and no, I was, I just went eye down.
Starting point is 00:06:50 You were an open butthole done. Yeah, yeah, it wasn't pleasant. But anyway, cautionary tale to those who know about their center of gravity and all that. That's right. Miles, we are thrilled to be joined in our third seat by very funny comedian, who you know from her special Hard Pass
Starting point is 00:07:04 and the most recent special Incurable Optimist, which dropped in April. You can catch her at the month. She co-produces golden spiral comedy. Please welcome to the show. It's Katie Copeland. Hey! Hello.
Starting point is 00:07:18 Hello, Katie. Thank you. Tacoma Park till I'm nine. Hell yeah, bro. It's not quite as, you know, bragy as till I die. But I mean, it was more like till I was 21. But, I mean, once my parents got divorced, it just wasn't full time. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:35 Shout out Rosco, shout out Roscoe, the rooster. You know what I mean? The real ones, no, you know, out there. Shout out the pagoda. right there on the corner. You know what I mean? Shout out the co-op. RIP, Mark's Kitchen. RIP Mark's Kitchen. I went there. One of my first trips to Tacoma Park, Maryland, because that's what Her Majesty is from. She was like, we always used to go to Mark's Kitchen, like after schools. We were hanging out. And I went in there and I'm like, oh, it felt like one of those restaurants.
Starting point is 00:07:58 I'm like, yep, I can see myself being a teenager. I mean like, this is the spot. We go kick it at. Yeah. It was like the first Korean food any of us had ever had. So we were like, what is this? Mandu? Yes, please. More. More. Yeah, what does that man do? Because he's doing it well. What that man do? What that man do? Mark's Kitchen, they really kind of buried the Korean lead on that one. You had to know. Mark's Kitchen. Yeah. Yep. Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 00:08:27 Is Mark here? No. Anyways, Katie, we're thrilled to have you here. We're going to get to know you a little bit better in a moment. First, we're going to tell the listeners a couple of things we're talking about. We're going to be talking about new. polling that suggests embracing Donald Trump was bad for Jesus's brand, for the evangelical Christianity. Turns out.
Starting point is 00:08:51 Turns out. We're going to talk about just people not really being equipped to deal with AI in certain sectors. Just relying, dude, relying on this shit too much, we'll just make you dumb. Like really, really dumb. And so, you know, a cautionary tale for all of us who rely on. on AI to concoct the words we say out loud in public. And that's why we should be using AI to teach children,
Starting point is 00:09:18 to teach the future, which we believe that children are, me and Whitney Houston. There's a school district that had plans to put a very sex doll reminiscent robot. Adjacent. Yeah, very sex doll-adjacent robot in classrooms to teach children. and there's good reason for it to, we're not making that up. The company has some alternate, you know,
Starting point is 00:09:48 businesses that relate to the adult entertainment industry. They're pivoting. And they're going to check in with Comic-Con. A lot of exciting developments for people who... Yeah. Johnny Depp is back? Johnny, the Death man. Okay.
Starting point is 00:10:04 Uh-huh. It's good to be back, he said, as playing Ebenezer Scrooge. Oh, great. I don't understand why Ebenezer Scrooge would be saying. It's good to be back, but he was. Also famously canceled, you know. They didn't cancel Scrooge.
Starting point is 00:10:22 All of that, plenty more. But first, Katie, we do like to ask our guests. What is something from your search history that is revealing about who you are? Well, it's actually a little fitting for National Soccer Day, but it is. Okay, let me just say what it is. So the search is Travago ads AI. Okay. Travago adds AI.
Starting point is 00:10:42 So are you familiar with the Chavago? Have you seen the Travago ads lately? It's like three guys sitting around a pool. And like one of them is like you didn't check Travago. You paid like double what we did. And one of them has like these very prominent teeth. Right. So I was like, who is that?
Starting point is 00:10:55 And why does this look AI? The whole thing looks like if you look at it, it's very uncanny. The people in the background don't look right. The faces don't move right. Anyway, the guy with the teeth is Yergan Klop. But I think it's AI Yorgon Klop. so do you know who Yurgen Klopp is? Oh, I do, yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:08 Yeah, the new Liverpool manager. Yeah, Liverpool manager, correct. And, you know, my, like, I know who he is. I've seen the clip of, uh, does anybody remember this was like during pandemic times when the goalie scored a header in, in overage, I'm sorry, in stoppage time? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:23 It was fucking incredible. And it was like, I've seen that clip like so many times that I was like, how did I not recognize Yergan Klopp, you know, but it's because I don't, yeah, this is it. Wow. And there's, so I Google it. And it turns out, there was another ad where they replaced Yergen Kopp with an entirely different guy.
Starting point is 00:11:39 And that wasn't even what I was looking for, but that's what I found. Wow. I don't understand what's going on with the contract. I don't know why you would sign your likeness away like that. But anyway, it took me down a real rabbit hole. I think they could have kept AI behind closed doors and we would all be more impressed. What was the point of disappearing Yergan Klopp from that? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:11:59 And it's also like, that's only happening some places because I'm still seeing the, you know, I watch a lot of Pluto TV, so I get a lot of ads. and I've seen that Travago one with him a bunch of times, and that's why I did the Google search. Oh, so you've seen it with, without the hybrid version. I've only seen it with, and I've been creeped out because I'm like, what is that? And now there's a new one with some lady that I also think is AI.
Starting point is 00:12:18 So I don't know. I think they're real actors, but they're doing something to like produce the, I don't get it. In terms of the TikTok of this story, we're sure that it was famous person first replaced eventually by not famous person. It wasn't like they didn't add with a not famous person. And then the paper were signed and they added famous persons like that. Correct.
Starting point is 00:12:40 They announced him as the global ambassador like a few years ago. And then we're just like now. And there used to be like a regular Trevago guy. Does everybody remember that guy? Yeah, yeah, yeah, right. He was just like Travago. His name's like Ben Williams or something that I can't remember because it's something like that. Just like so.
Starting point is 00:12:53 And then they were, I guess they just needed some celebrity juice, you know, so. Makes sense with the World Cup. They're like, let's get some of the most recognized. It was way for that. I've been seeing this ad for years. I don't know. Yeah. And it's not because I was just watching the performances in this ad, Milesbert, brought them up.
Starting point is 00:13:09 And they seemed intentionally heightened. Like they were playing like friendliness robots or something. Yes. That was not the goal of the ad. That was just like the AI. Not knowing how to deal. I'm sure there were multiple prompts that went into this ad. Sure.
Starting point is 00:13:30 Right, right, right. Right. Oh, we live in hell, Katie. Yes, it's all part of this awful simulation, so I don't feel better. What is something you think is underrated? This is quite pedestrian, but it is flossing every day. Has anyone tried this? I did it for like eight months.
Starting point is 00:13:49 Okay. And I felt so good about me. Yeah, yeah. And it's like you go to the dentist and they're like, good job. One time I didn't go to the dentist for five years. Yeah. And I went and he was like, he goes, he's like, I just want to have you sit in the lobby all day and tell people that you didn't go to the dentist, but you did floss.
Starting point is 00:14:05 And I was like, I would be happy to do that. You have no idea how much I'm happy to brag about my oral hygiene. So you stuck with it during the five years? You just didn't floss. Or you just did, yeah, I glossed, yeah. I only, I mean, I brushed, I flossed. I did my like normal daily routine, you know. So you didn't not go to the dentist because you were afraid of what they would tell you. You went because you were like, I don't need this motherfucker. Well, no, I just had really bad ADD and did not bother to make an appointment for that long. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I wish it was something with a reason, but it's not.
Starting point is 00:14:34 That's the loop I fall into. And then I'll do the thing where like, like a month before, I'm like, all right, I'm getting back on my flossing. I go to the dentist and goes, you've been doing great with flossing. I'm like, I've been doing terribly with it for the last two years. Yeah, you got to find the. And then you start going like, oh, shit, am I? What's the truth anymore? So I've continued just my streak of panic flossing.
Starting point is 00:14:56 Like, I get it in probably like three times a week. Mm-hmm. And then because, because, because, I've had my dentist, my lifelong dentist to be like, yeah, doing a good job. I'm like, okay, that might be my sweet spot. You might just have, you know, genetically good gums. Great gums.
Starting point is 00:15:12 That's what he said. Good for you. Yeah. Victor just said y'all don't floss every day. I'm sorry, Victor, no, I do not. Superprezer Victor, just giving anxiety with that question. I know. It's one of my, like, you got to be able to spell
Starting point is 00:15:23 and you got to floss every day, you know. All right. Do either. If you want to come anywhere near my mouth. Oh, my gosh. Wait, spelling is he? Oh, yeah. Spelling. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:34 Wait, is there... Without spell check or... Ideally, you know. I mean, there's a squeakly red line under the way I wrote that. I think we all need... Yeah, we need that squiggly. Wait, is there a moment where someone
Starting point is 00:15:44 has spelled something incorrectly and you immediately went like, ah, fuck, this is over. Oh, too many to count. Like, any time I was ever on a dating app, you know, I'd have to... Like, well, what's... What gets you?
Starting point is 00:15:55 What's a word that immediately go? My brain shut off. Your instead of... Your, your, your... Your... Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay. What about YERR?
Starting point is 00:16:05 That's okay if it's in context correctly. And what about you says you're in New York? New York. What about your? Yeah, yeah. That's different as well. Yeah. What about yinns?
Starting point is 00:16:14 Yins for a Pittsburgh? Absolutely. Yeah. Yin's going down. I won't try and say it. Pirates game. That's a, and has there been the equivalent bad experience with somebody wasn't flossing?
Starting point is 00:16:25 Like you, somebody's teeth start falling out in front of you. You're kissing and you're like, you were eating shrimp earlier? It's more like my friends will tell me A week ago actually Yeah my friends will tell me Dental problems that they're having And it is then up to me To not be sanctimonious about my philosophy
Starting point is 00:16:40 Sometimes I fail But I mean my childhood dentist Like he must have hit me like right When I was doing field hockey tryouts in the fall And my body was super sore From running and doing stuff every day And he was like it's like exercising Like it hurts for a while
Starting point is 00:16:55 And then once you get over it you're just in shape And it's right Yeah And you also like know how to do it quick Like I used to like tie the floss around my fingertips until they were purple. Like I was like I got to really get in there. And like I have to it was a whole process that took me way too long. I came out of there.
Starting point is 00:17:14 I don't think there's anything wrong with taking too long. Too long, you know. Yeah. So peat dart. If you're as long as you're getting paid dirt, it's not too long. Pay dirt. It's so gross. It's such a gross.
Starting point is 00:17:22 Yes, it is. You're just looking at your teeth in the mirror. Yeah. There's gold in them hills. Yes. I went on vacation. with two of my friends who were, like I traveled with them individually,
Starting point is 00:17:34 but not together. And then once we were on the trip, I caught them talking about how I floss every night. I was like, hey, can you guys dial it back? I'm right here. What's your fucking problem? I was like,
Starting point is 00:17:44 stop making fun of me. And they were both like, we're not making fun of you. We're impressed. We're saying how impressed you are. You should make them let you watch them floss and the shit that comes out. You know,
Starting point is 00:17:53 if they're not flossing every night, like Google. Yeah. One of them brushes her teeth like five times a day, but no flossing. And I'm like, girl, well, you might as well not. Yeah, if you're putting that much energy, come on now.
Starting point is 00:18:02 Yeah. Compensation. Yeah. Yeah, it is tough when I floss after not having floss for a week or two. Yeah, I mean, if I'm on a trip. I need a spit bucket, like a rocky movie. It's nasty. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:18:15 If I'm on a trip and I am out of floss, I will go the next day. Like, I really, I start to freak out if I can't floss before bed. Like, it's not, I can't go to sleep. My God. That's impressive. What is something you think is overrated? I think that... maybe a little high-minded as opposed to pedestrian,
Starting point is 00:18:33 but I think being the greatest of all time is highly overrated. Goat? Mm-hmm. You talk about LeBron James? Among others. You're the goat flosser. We know you're the goat flosser. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:18:46 There hasn't been a competition. Heavy lies the crown, is that what we're saying? Heavy as the head, yes. Yeah. Why is the goat debate overrated? Well, you know, the World Cup just ended, and there's a lot of talk about Linal Messi being the goat. Is he the greatest of all time? Maybe.
Starting point is 00:19:04 Does he seem happy and fulfilled by that? Oh, all right. Here we go. I got to bring out my LeBron D. His LeBron dream sixer. Printed Sixers T-shirt. I bought the day he signed on the boardwalk. And it's made the colors don't match.
Starting point is 00:19:22 It's fine, Jack. The number of colors don't match the 76ers logo. Those are collectors items. Exactly. I got a. Like Nick's shirt for the playoffs and I'm like, this is my prize possession. I don't want me of a official.
Starting point is 00:19:33 I'm feeling a certain way about about goat debates. Yeah. I'm a Michael Jordan. No, right. No, of course,
Starting point is 00:19:40 Michael Jordan, great example. Yeah. Seems like a healthy dude. Exactly. Like, what's the last thing I heard about him? Oh,
Starting point is 00:19:49 it was Trump saying that they golfed together. Like, does that seem like something that I had a person? Exactly. This is your goat, you know? Yeah, that's not good.
Starting point is 00:19:58 And, oh, remember when he was like, really into Bejeweled. Does I remember that game? Remember that game? Yeah, yeah. Michael Jordan was? Yes.
Starting point is 00:20:05 Into the mobile game, Bjeweled. Oh, that's right. The Michael Jordan of Bjewel. Like, he could not put it down. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:12 And then, I don't know, like all those documentaries were just like he's so petty. Yeah, right? He just takes lights and he's insufferable. He's still hanging on to a lot of them.
Starting point is 00:20:20 Yeah. Just like, and it's crazy because I grew up subscribing to the Sports Illustrated for kids. He was like my idol. Oh, yeah, me too. So to find out all this stuff. It was a real letdown.
Starting point is 00:20:28 Shout out the free sports cards, trading cards that were perforated in the middle of that thing. Oh my God. So, so great. Like to be great, you can be a mentally healthy person. But to be the greatest of all time, you got to be so fucked. You have to be damaged. Yeah, such a weird. And it's like, especially in sport.
Starting point is 00:20:46 Like, I don't even think artists should be considered part of this because it's like, how do you measure the best of that? Yeah, yeah. You know, Tom Brady, probably the best went as far as he could with it. probably a few years too far. And it's like, that's the deal with, like, being the greatest of all time. You only have a certain amount of time to achieve it. And then you're just some guy named Tom. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:06 And there's always somebody coming for your record. So, like, you know, and then I have to listen to Tom doing commentating. And I don't really need that, you know. No. He actually, have you seen him do stand up? He's got a tight five. It's really good. Yeah. It's really good stuff.
Starting point is 00:21:19 He said, I'm open for you. Get that audience. After my commentary here today, I don't think, you know, maybe I'll talk to Giselle. Maybe she can do it. Yeah. She's probably equally funny. Have her instructor, boyfriend, do it open for you. Oh, yeah, the jujitsu guy.
Starting point is 00:21:35 Yeah, yeah. Yeah, I think that's probably fair. It's a fun debate to have, but I do. It was nice to have LeBron sign with the Sixers around the same time that Trump was like, I don't know, maybe he's racist. He's not my greatest. My greatest is Michael Jordan. I've golfed with a guy.
Starting point is 00:21:55 He's a good guy. So yeah. Yeah. I mean, I don't know, maybe take another look at that, uh, debate there,
Starting point is 00:22:01 guys. He's good. Well, Brown's got time to, you know, get another a ring. So. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:22:06 And be paraded through this. I do think he saw what the next did and was like, I want that glory of a city for myself. You bring a title to Philadelphia. Yeah. It's over. Like, you won't have to pay for a fucking thing ever again.
Starting point is 00:22:18 Yeah. I mean, he saw what it happened when he brought a title to Cleveland. And he knows the math of like, the biggest loser. fan base that has just been kicked in the shins repeatedly over and over and over. Yeah. Like permanent mercury and retrograde.
Starting point is 00:22:37 Did I do that correctly? Yeah, you did. And yeah, like he knows the math that if you can bring a title there. Yeah. And he came to L.A. and we were like, and where's the next one? Who? Where's the other ring?
Starting point is 00:22:51 He got taught that math from both angles, from winning a title in Cleveland and then winning in L.A. and people, his own fan base, being like, yeah, this guy never be Kobe. Anyways. All right, let's take a quick break. We'll come back. We'll talk about some news stories.
Starting point is 00:23:09 We'll be right back. You've heard the chaos. Now you can see it. Hello. My gosh. Watch all your favorite podcasts from start to finish right inside the free I-Hare radio app. Get the blood going up.
Starting point is 00:23:25 Catch every laugh and eye roll on shows like the Tom Green Farmcast and park the mud. Now with full video. We're building a ramp for Tony Hawk. It's the same hosts and the same chemistry with all the hilarious moments you've been missing right on your screen. Cheers.
Starting point is 00:23:40 Open the free IHard Radio app. Search video podcasts and tap watch. What's up, fam? I'm sports journalist Ari Chambers. Hey, what's up y'all? It's your girl, Sam J. And we're the host of everyone watches women's sports, a new podcast from Together and IHart Women's Sports.
Starting point is 00:23:55 Because let's be real. Women's sports is giving us way too much to talk about these days. So Kelsey Finler, she became the first female solo rower to go from California to Hawaii. My first thought is like, what's up with the snacks? Like, what are we eating? The highlights, the rivalries, the breakout stars, the moments that take over your entire timeline. And the conversations that start during the game and somehow keep going all week. Every week, we're breaking down the biggest stories across women sports.

Join Yomeneika Saunders as she breaks down the week's most problematic stories on her new podcast. You're the problem with Yomeneke. Do you know I just found out who Sidney Sweeney was? New episodes weekly every Wednesday is part of my new network, the Dear Chelsea Network.
Starting point is 00:26:10 If he got a bunch of women, then I should have a bunch of men. Do better or do less, so I don't have to do so much. So join Yamanika each episode as she answers one question. Who's the problem? I'm Yamanika, and I'm out. Listen to you're the problem with Yamanika on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. And we're back.
Starting point is 00:26:42 Mm-hmm. You know, I hate to see this happen. Two great brands coming together and not helping one another. Yeah. So we got the mega brands doing damage to the evangelical Christian brand. Yeah. And Christianity at large, you know. It's just, it feels like the evangelical love for Trump and becoming, your church becoming a place where people are not.
Starting point is 00:27:09 accepted with open arms is not a great recruiting tool for, you know, the dwindling numbers for Christianity. So right now there's a poll that said, quote, nearly half of Gen Z Americans say Christian support for President Donald Trump is a reason they're less likely to attend church. The Billy Graham Center Research Institute, who, you know, they're really interested, where the people at in the churches said surveyed a little over 2,300 Gen Z adults from 18 to 28. And they said 48 found that 48 percent of respondents said they agree with a statement, quote, Christian support of Trump has made me less likely to go to church. That included 19 percent who, quote, strongly agreed, 14 percent who agreed, and 15 percent who slightly agreed. By contrast, 52 percent disagreed. Oh, but just a,
Starting point is 00:27:58 but just a wee bit. So I think the thing that we're kind of seeing is just sort of obviously, like since Reagan gave evangelicals like a seat at the table, they've used like their foray into politics to be like, well, Christianity is about anti-choice homophobia. Not a great run. Not a great run. That's the thing about Jesus. The public faiths of Christianity. Like Jesus, we know all the stories where he'd point at somebody on the margins and go,
Starting point is 00:28:24 get his ass. Fuck that guy. Get the fuck out of here right now. You know how Jesus was talking, baby. This whole thing. Yeah, yeah. It was this whole thing. And just, I think, again, I think as many of these sort of like, you know,
Starting point is 00:28:36 organizations try to look like, how do we re-capriced? capture young people again. A lot of people are sort of, they're stopped at the door. I'm being like, wait, hold on, you guys are like picking winners and losers at the door? Nah, see, life is way too hard and requires, I think a lot of people now believe in like more collectivism that they're like, no, no, no, we can't just sort of excise people from the culture. And then that's the solution when more people are saying, like, I think we need to bring
Starting point is 00:29:02 everybody together. And also the Pope is out there like, no, no, that's not at all what this is. Pope was reading the poll numbers. It was like, oh, man, this guy's bad for the brand. He's just a shrewd PR maven. I do think the Pope differentiates between the Catholic brand and the evangelical brand, which is really different. Yeah, I think that's what he's doing when he's like, fuck this guy.
Starting point is 00:29:25 Yeah, right, right, right. He's like, we don't care about votes like that. He's like, bro, I'm the master of my own city, country over here in the Vatican. Yeah, yeah. Well, you hate to see it. Sorry to see. It's just like one of those things, though, too. Like I went to Lutheran school and Catholic school in the late 80s, early 90s, there was still a version of like these church-going people that were still like, no, no, my child, God, Christ accepts all, which was like felt like the recruiting tool for like me being like a Black and East kid who wasn't really feeling like the religious study at my school, trying to get me to be like inter like, no, come through.
Starting point is 00:30:02 It's you're going to love it. We accept everybody. And for me, I was just like, no, bro, this is, this is kind of dull. And it's not like resonating with me. I'm sorry. But like to now really having the kinds of. Yeah, that was their problem. They were just dull.
Starting point is 00:30:14 Yeah, yeah. Go watch Sister Act. They were dull, but they were nice. And then they went. Yeah, then they went through a change where they were like, and what if we doused it in being very judgmental about who's going to hell? It's weird. We're going completely against, I think, the teachings.
Starting point is 00:30:32 And that's not rendering the same result. Well, it is, it is, it is. what it is. So maybe they'll, maybe they'll do a 180. I don't know. They'll probably look at the statistics and be like, well, slightly more people don't think that's a problem. Eventually they're going to run into a brick wall. Like, it's so hypocritical. Like at some point, even the cult members are going to be like, wait a minute. Something's not right. This doesn't make sense. Because I've met some like new age Christians like recently too who like I didn't know or like had a church and then saying like, hey, you should stop by. Like we have like little services.
Starting point is 00:31:04 Like it's nothing crazy. But like they're they're kind of, they're. They're kind of, live it. Like, they're actually doing a lot of charitable work for people who don't look like them, who are not Christian. And I'm like, oh, hey, get a load of that. And they're like, yeah, we're like, yeah, we meet in this, like, industrial space where we have, like, our small congregation. And I'm like, okay. Like, I'm not, I'm not going to go. But I like that for you. You are at least using your congregation to do something positive. Our pastor has cool glasses. Yeah. Okay. Those are usually the ones that don't have enough money for their own space. So they tend to be a little better people.
Starting point is 00:31:38 Right, right. Yeah, yeah, exactly. They're like, we're not trying to pander, although, do you like my Gucci slides? Yeah. They're very holy. Yeah, yeah. All right.
Starting point is 00:31:48 Let's talk AI real quick. Because as you mention Miles, it's not so much. I think it would be scary in one way if the AI was so good that we were like, fuck, it's like coming for all our jobs and like we're all screwed.
Starting point is 00:32:05 The scary thing is that, like, They're saying it's that good and then it's not. And people who use it, it turns the people who use it dumb enough to think it's good and like become reliant on it. Exactly. So it's a real catch 22 of stupidity. Because we talk all the time, right?
Starting point is 00:32:24 Like they're all those memes from like Zoomers and like Gen Alpha people. They're like, they're like, I don't even get how you guys are writing papers in college without AI. And then I've said, I'm like, that helped us hone one of the most. valuable skills you can have as an American, which is bullshitting your way through things to the point where you sound like, you know, what the fuck you're talking about. And that is a skill that I'm like, well, that's something I've worked on. That's a skill that I've had to work on and hone over many years of practice and trying to just float through academia. But now I think people are relying
Starting point is 00:32:56 it on to the point where it's degrading those skills for them, including politicians. Like, they can't even be bothered to even write a dull legislative speech that you give on the floor of of parliament. And this Canadian lawmaker, Bill Oliver, recently, he just dry snitched on himself in the saddest way as he read his remarks during a legislative session in the providence of New Brunswick, Canada. And I just want to say, just listen in, see if you can tell where he let slip that AI was used in the drafting of his remarks. And we'll just see what we can find here. One of the dangers associated with creating advocacy offices is that citizens of developing expectations. that exceed the powers actually granted to those offices.
Starting point is 00:33:40 Okay. Here's a more natural flowing version of that section that reads like a legislative speech rather than a series of short points. Madam Speaker, one of my concerns with this legislation is a potential gap between what New Brunswickers may reasonably expect this office to accomplish
Starting point is 00:33:56 and what the office... Wow. It was smooth. He did that thing where it clearly the page ended. He goes, all right, here's my next. sheet of paper and then just rattles it off. Here's a more natural flowing version of that section that reads like legislative
Starting point is 00:34:12 speech rather than a series of short points. I like that too. It's like, here's a more natural version that doesn't make you sound like a fucking robot, dude. Try this fucking, this rised up version. Here's a more natural version that hides the fact that I used AI on this. Right, right.
Starting point is 00:34:29 It's just, it's like, it's a lot of people pointing out, it's like, we're holding like students to higher standards. with like, you know, what AI can be used for with homework and schoolwork and things like that, then the fucking people who legislate and like other people are like, if you did this in court,
Starting point is 00:34:45 like when people have done this in court, they're like, uh, you did what now? What is that? Okay, so somebody's looking for sanctions. But yeah, yet, look, just try something more natural. And just like,
Starting point is 00:34:57 you have an opinion. Just say your opinion. Why can you just, what's so, you know? I don't think there are even standards for how long these speeches have to be. Right.
Starting point is 00:35:05 Right. Yeah. That sounds like a lot of work. Having an opinion sounds like a lot of work. Critical thinking. I understand. I understand. Like the AI thing is like, yeah, it's based on all of human history and wisdom. And I'm like all of it because most of us are really stupid. So maybe we should like figure out how to, you know. And we're learning that. We're learning that too. Yikes is what we have to say to humanity. This is the crap you're giving us. Every time they try to introduce like a load-based. AI tool, the people who like know what they're doing. So it's like, it seems like it's just idiots who are adopting it because people who know what they're doing usually are like, this is not helpful. I only use it because I'm like, I'm asked to buy my boss, you know? Right, right, right. Who, by the way, is fantasizing about replacing me. But like when given the option to not use it or use it and it's like up to them,
Starting point is 00:36:05 people mostly don't use it. So this guy, I mean this guy notwithstanding. So it makes sense that like the next step for the technology would be to just stop developing AI. Sorry, no, that's not what we're going to do. We're going to try and pass it off on children because they won't know any better because they haven't learned shit yet. And so we're going to do AI teacher earlier the first. This month, it was announced that a rural upstate New York school district will become the first in the entire country to bring an AI-powered humanoid robot into the classroom as part of a pilot program. The robot named Sally allegedly wouldn't replace a teacher but become an assistant.
Starting point is 00:36:53 So that's how they make sure that nobody's freaking out about this. It's fine. Despite experiencing above-average levels of poverty, the district shelled out 57,000. for the opportunity to, you know, confuse and frighten children with a hunted mannequin, which is what the thing looks at. I like that it's the Salamanca City Central School District. Just remind me of Breaking Bad for some, or not for some reason, because of heck of Salamanca. So they paid 57 grand for this terrifying robot. That's like three teachers.
Starting point is 00:37:31 That is, yeah, right, right, right. It's like, I mean, that's about three teacher salaries right there. and it doesn't need rest. The photo they have of it, like, you can tell this is like the 30th take. Like, they finally swapped in a group of children who didn't cry immediately, like, immediately burst into tears when seated next to this thing. It's funny, too, because, like, it looks like the children in this photo, they have a lot of empathy for the robot who they're like, oh, this tragic robot. Look at this thing. And the robot has, like, a thousand yards stare, like, kill me now, children.
Starting point is 00:38:05 This is not what I wanted. I wanted to be a sex doll, not a classroom teacher. Yeah, that's what it always wanted to be. Can I move to high school, please? Yeah. There was a major backlash from parents, aka people who know better, and now the plan has been paused. But the school district superintendent is like doing the thing where he's like,
Starting point is 00:38:29 oh, you bring in one teacher that looks like a sex bot and teach a class, And everybody freaks out. He's like, it's not going to be walking the fucking halls, man. It's not a Terminator, okay? He said, if this looked like a golden retriever and did exactly the same thing, I don't think we'd have as many people here. I don't understand that argument at all. Like, I'm glad it doesn't.
Starting point is 00:38:58 Yeah. Oh, so you don't want your kids being taught by a cool, sentient golden retriever? if we had been slightly more manipulative and chosen something that was cute, you guys wouldn't be freaking out right now. But because we chose something, I could bang. Everyone's bad.
Starting point is 00:39:17 I could and probably will bang. Everyone's freaking out. Actually, the company specified that their robots are not capable of physical intimacy. That's true. Oh, we'll get to it. Have you tried?
Starting point is 00:39:28 There's a firmware update. You can install and it does it. And I guess, all right, guys. So this didn't work. I guess I'm going to have to take Sally home because no one wants to use this robot. Now get it out of a school then. And I'll just. She did specify that this was the less creepy option and that they did some testing.
Starting point is 00:39:48 And Sally, the version where Sally was just a disembodied head did not go over so well. They're just going to have a fucking head sitting there helping teach the kids. The binary. You would like pass around like a conch shell. So the binary as they're making this decision is, all right, dude, you got decapitated head or full fuck doll. Which one is it, guys? Like, she can't walk. It's not like, oh, we're just not having a walk.
Starting point is 00:40:14 She can't because it is just a head on like a mannequin body. Yeah. I mean, honestly, maybe the disembodied head is actually the better option. Like, you know. I feel like there is a disembodied head, like intelligence somewhere. There is. Okay. The Futurama. Yeah, that's the one.
Starting point is 00:40:32 Futurama, there's a bunch of heads and jars. And The Simpsons. I think that was originated on the Simpsons. Okay, so next door to my mom's house currently today is this woman, Martine Rothblatt, she was the highest paid CEO. She's a trans woman. She was like the highest paid female CEO, I don't know, 10 years ago. She's like well known for being like the high, you know, the most successful trans woman, yada, yada.
Starting point is 00:40:53 But her other passion foundation is the digitization of consciousness. Oh, good. So you can upload your. soul to the cloud. And their first project was a head robot of her wife, Bina, whose car I backed into when I was 16. So I was extremely they had, I think Wall Street Journal or somebody put up a video of it. And it was extremely freaky.
Starting point is 00:41:16 And you should not let that around kids. I was a fully grown adult when I saw it. And I still have nightmares. So, yeah, thank you. Wow. Yeah. Well, look, there's something about playing God that's just so, so attractive to people. And just the idea of eternal life.
Starting point is 00:41:31 I'm like, did you not like see interview with the vampire? Yeah, yeah, yeah, right. I don't understand how you haven't thought this through to its logical conclusion, which is like, please don't do that to me. There might be something after this. Maybe there's not, which is also good. Is there one depiction of someone who's like an immortal? I'm like, dude, I love watching the people I love die over and over and over and over and over again.
Starting point is 00:41:52 You know, it does something live in that good life. And then like, what do you live through the sun exploding and taking it? Yeah. The climate change thing? Are you going to be the last one here? who wants that. Yeah. And you know what?
Starting point is 00:42:03 Earth death could be fucking sick, dude. We don't know. Sure. We don't know. Who are you going to tell about it, though? Floating through space, freezing cold. Yeah. And your life becomes a blink in comparison with just all the eternity of floating through inky dark space.
Starting point is 00:42:20 Yeah, right. Without any warmth. I do hope that happens for the people who are seeking it. Me too. But I do just want to say, we're not just like, you, the little. can't see what these dolls look like. We're not just adding the sex doll thing, like, gratuitously. Sally was manufactured by a company called Real Botix with an X at the end.
Starting point is 00:42:45 That just last year was a crypto company called Tokens.com. And not shockingly, their sibling company makes AI-powered sex dolls with names like Serenity and Harmony. Yeah. And they have come out and stressed no adult products, business has any involvement in the Salamanca project, but that's, it's not true. I don't know if you make, you make these with a different company. This was that company, remember, we talked about it last year when they went to CES, and this was their fuck doll that they paraded out.
Starting point is 00:43:20 Oh, that's the same company. Hello, Maria. How are you today? She, yes, I knew she looked familiar. I'm feeling fun and ready to have a great conversation with you. Can you tell me an interesting fact. This is your teacher. Did you know that honey never spoils?
Starting point is 00:43:39 Great. Did you know that honey never spoils? How fucking dumb do you think I am? Yes. It never spoils because they found it in a pharaoh's tomb. So, and it was still edible. Therefore, anyway, that's a fun fact for me. It is sweet and will live forever like me.
Starting point is 00:43:55 I will be here watching you looking exactly like this as you breathe your last breath. Now kiss me, beautiful. Then can I get in that classroom? That's just so funny how you keep pivoting. You're like, all right, it's a fuck. Oh, fuck. No one likes this fucking weird thing. Everyone's freaked out by this thing.
Starting point is 00:44:14 All right. What about tokens.com? It's just spinning. The panic, nonstop panic. Oh, man. Hate to see it. Let's take a quick break. We'll come back.

And on my new podcast, delivering happiness with Nick Totoro, I deliver pizza from Prince Street Pizza to a new guest. Are you delivering pizza now? Then we sit down for a real conversation.
Starting point is 00:47:23 I've shared a slice with everyone from Seth Rollins. What are you doing, my belt? To Alex Rodriguez. Just to let you people know, we're talking to one of the goats here. To Bill Burr. I don't think I've ever met somebody so exactly out of their mind as I am.

Starting point is 00:47:52 And listen now. And we're back. We're back. And Comic Con, big news from over the weekend, San Diego Comic Con. Marvel dropped a few bigons on us. We got Ryan Gosling is going to play Ghost Rider. A couple Ryan-based
Starting point is 00:48:16 bombshells. Ryan Gosselin's going to play Ghost Rider, which I don't think I can care about any less. I don't care. Yeah. It should be Method Man. Method Man should finally be Johnny Blaze. The way.
Starting point is 00:48:31 Method Man has always wanted to be Johnny Blaze, the ghost rider. Okay. That was, that's, that's just, that's just money on the floor right there. But okay, fine. We'll take it. Ryan Gosling doing, doing the, you know, one for me, one for them, one for them, one for them. Which, speaking of that, Ryan Coogler making a third Black Panther movie starring
Starting point is 00:48:54 Industries David Johnson, who is a really good actor, he's going to play Tachala's son. So I'm a little, a little surprise Ryan Coogler still doing the, on the one for them, one for me, strategy, because, He just did a one for me that was like a massive hit. Yeah, yeah, right. So, like, that does suggest to me, like, he's got a great idea for this movie and that it's going to be good. So that one. A lot of people were pissed that they're like, a lot of people wanted, like, Damson Idris, like, another person.
Starting point is 00:49:29 But it's funny because people were like, they go, this brutish guy's like, damson Idris is, what do you? They're both. It's also British. What are you talking about? Yeah. But I think, yeah, I think other, a lot of people were like, it should have been American. whatever. I don't know until I know, but I will trust Ryan Cougler because from what I've seen, the guy's pretty good. He's pretty, he doesn't miss from what I've seen so far. Same. Not that. It seems like a good filmmaker maybe and who has good instincts on what movie to make. It's like one of those things like with sports, you know, like how people have been like, I wouldn't assign that guy. And then you're kind of like, are you a fucking NBA? Do you know anything about it? We're like, no, I'm going purely off emotion where it's sometimes like,
Starting point is 00:50:11 Maybe trust the people who know what they're doing. I was doing a little bit of small talk on the Jersey Shore, and somebody was, like, mad that they signed LeBron because of how expensive he's going to be and did not know that he's only $4 million. Yeah. Did you see the wages? The whole story is that he's doing it for a moment. You got him at Dollar General, okay?
Starting point is 00:50:31 Don't worry. Just embrace it. So the cringiest moment of the con came on Friday when fans camped outside the Scrooge and Marley activation, which why the fuck was anybody camped outside. We're greeted by Johnny Depp in full prosthetics playing nerd culture favorite
Starting point is 00:50:51 Ebenezer Scrooge. Oh, what a great place, like San Diego in July, to have a fucking, wear a full wool coat like it's Christmas Day. Beautiful. I'm surprised that he was able, like people were able to tell the difference between Johnny
Starting point is 00:51:08 Depp and all of the people who are cosplaying as Ebenezer Scrooge already at Comic Company, you know? Dickens's novella, a very famous graphic novel, of course. Yeah, right. Yeah. And because he's a riffmaster, he's a very funny guy, Johnny Depp, threw in some references to Trump's tariffs while he was doing, well, he was Scrooge. No.
Starting point is 00:51:35 He's like, I'm going to put tariffs on that banister right there. I'm going to put tariffs on stuff. stuff. That's the thing that's in the news, right? Oh, man, what is this inflation? Bah humbug. Not good. It's fake. Am I right? What else? What else? Fuck, fuck. Oh, wait. Have you no jobs? It was one of his... Yeah, yeah. Have you no jobs?
Starting point is 00:51:56 No, no, bitch. No, we don't. No. The economy is very bad, sir. Here's a clip of him coming out that people were filming on the scene. What the hell? Say something, fool. Is that guy just saying, John? Someone's saying, I love you. Okay, he's just doing fucking, uh, just doing hand stuff.
Starting point is 00:52:34 He's doing Jack Sparrow, bro, with a different outfit on. Okay. All right. All right, man. This is your Oscar, I guess. It's very clear that this project is just, it's not about celebrating the classic story. That we, we've all been begging for more. Yeah, more iterations.
Starting point is 00:52:56 Can we get? Like the muffins didn't perfect it. Come on. Right, right. Give me like five more creations of a Christmas Carol and like 20 more Robin Hoods and we'll start to be getting somewhere. That free IP. Exactly. Can't stay away from it.
Starting point is 00:53:13 Can't put it down. But the first part of the trailer is just them name checking several of his famous characters before declaring that the master of misfits. returns. That's an euphemistic description of this man. The master of misfits. Yeah, yeah. Wow.
Starting point is 00:53:31 And then at one point, he just basically spikes the camera and says, it's good to be back. Which is fucking crazy. Which is like that, it would make sense if it was a character for whom that could be a thing. But like, why would
Starting point is 00:53:50 Scrooge be saying it's good to be back? He's never, first of all, he's never left my heart. He's my favorite fictional character. Sure, sure, sure. But also, like, he's not a character who, like, returns from anything. He's a character who's just an asshole, his whole life, and then gets scared out of being an asshole. It's so weird to be a guy who, like, like, you know, that UK trial brought a lot of stuff out. That trial was horrifying.
Starting point is 00:54:13 And you're like, you were punching your wife in the head, and then you wear a Scrooge sort of character veneer over you being like, it's good to be back, huh? Am I Scrooge? Am I a guy who's objectively a fucked up guy who shouldn't be in show business anymore? Which one? I don't know, man. But also, we're having fun with this.
Starting point is 00:54:32 He was never gone either. I haven't, like, he was in Sauvite, like, Christian Dior ads for the last, like, five years. Like, while the trial was, yeah, Sauvage. You can't go to an airport without seeing his fucking face in a desert where I'm like, you should stay there.
Starting point is 00:54:45 Didn't they put him in, like, one of the Harry Potter spinoffs while the trial was happening? I think it came out while the trial was happening. So they were like, well, we got to put it out. You know, we're not going to get our bad girl, but we are going to get this piece of shit, Johnny Depp. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:54:59 What is it? Something creatures. Whatever. I'm done with the rolling uvra. Yeah, yeah. I mean, it hasn't had a, what's the last thing he's really, like, paid money from? I guess, yeah, because there was that fantastic beast thing.
Starting point is 00:55:14 Everyone's like, huh? Mm-hmm. Nah. He's kind of in a position where everything he touches goes to shit. like even like the Harry Potter franchise before those movies came out you'd be like yeah well people really fuck with that and then they they did not right and I mean I think we all saw Mordecai coming and we're like this is the next big no sorry that one was a terrible fucking idea but yeah he does he's he's not a box office draw but like no there are just people who
Starting point is 00:55:46 refuse to accept that I think it shows to like the people in development are clearly of that generation where they go, oh, my God, Johnny Depp is just so, it's like, I didn't even know that was him. That's how good this guy is. I didn't even know that those allegations against him were real. That's how convincing this guy is in person. He can be so many different people. Whereas to us, the viewing public is like, dude, this cycle is over. Like, this is, no one is checking for him except for a very small group of people who still love Benny and June and are willing to like turn up for him. But, okay. Go on. It's like such an interesting combination of like tired-ass IP of a Christmas Carol plus Johnny Depp. And they think this is this is the thing people are going to be busting down the doors for.
Starting point is 00:56:33 I think it's just like the level of out of touch that that showbiz is at right now, like with the just the consolidation and the like the Zaslab of it all. And, you know, they, they only talk to each other. They're not concerned with what people actually want to see. Right. And that is like, if you put Johnny Depp in your movie, that is a guarantee I'm not going to see it, you know? Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. This is a very Zazlavian picture. That's the worst thing. It's like, you know, wow, it's very lynchian is like one good way to say. Kubrekian.
Starting point is 00:57:01 This is a very Zazlavian picture. Yeah, and that it's the dumbest fucking idea. And it's apparent to pretty much everybody except the person who's surrounded by yes men. Right. But then, you know, you got Chris Brown and Usher on tour selling out stadiums. So I don't, you know, maybe it will sell. I don't know. Smooth Zazz.
Starting point is 00:57:20 my favorite type of radio station. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Katie, such a pleasure having you on The Daily Zike. Where can people find you, follow you, here, you see you, all that good stuff? You can find me. I'm at Katie Kampa on every platform that I am on. I'm not on all of them, but it's K-A-T-I-E, C-O-M-M- as in Mary, P as and Paul A. I am blessed to be the only one in the world that I know of.
Starting point is 00:57:45 Congratulations. Thank you. It has been quite a coup, yeah. And it's fun to say, Katie Kampa. My best friends in the world call me by my full name. Katie Kumpa. Amazing. Is there a work of media that you've been enjoying?
Starting point is 00:57:56 Yes. I started watching this show called Diyara from Detroit. Has anybody heard of it? It's on Paramount. It's like it's a BET show, but it's like murder she wrote, but updated and said in Detroit. And it is, I'm having the best time watching it. I'm only on episode like six. But it's really fun.
Starting point is 00:58:13 It's, I don't want to give away too much of the details, but the pilot contains like everything you need to know. Oh, okay. I like this. The star is this woman, D.R. Kilpatrick, who I'm not familiar with, but she's had, like, a very long career in network, you know, dramas that I just didn't watch. She was on House. She was on, like, a couple other, like, big ones that I just happened not to interact with. So this is my first exposure to her, but she's great. She also wrote it. So. Oh, that's amazing. I loved House so much. I really thought that Hugh Lorry was going to come off of House and, like, have a career, like, a long run as an A-List movie star doing, like, house shit. Like, I thought, you know, know, like, disenchanted cop type shit. Yeah, I'd rather see that. I'd rather see him as Scrooge, honestly.
Starting point is 00:58:57 Yeah, right, exactly. I wouldn't buy him as a British guy, but, you know, that doctor house. Yeah, you kind of got to be a British guy to do that role. Yeah. Wait, what? Like Johnny Depp. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:59:12 My favorite British guy, Johnny Depp. Miles, where can people find you? Is there a work of media you've been enjoying? Yeah. find me everywhere at Miles of Gray. You can find me talking about 90-day fiancé on 420-day fiancé, and I'm talking about the world of football soccer on Ain't It Footy with Jamel Johnson and Chris Martin.
Starting point is 00:59:32 Work in Media, I like this one. It was just a video post. This is from the underscore Flaming underscore C on Instagram. It's just, it's still of this older black dude looking into the camera, and it says, you are not chopped. You're not unc. You're not cooked. You are a young white man
Starting point is 00:59:50 and you are going to make it. Miles, that is what I needed to hear. This is so fucking funny. Reassuring the fewer. I really like the definition of work of media applying to this.
Starting point is 01:00:08 Yeah, yeah, yeah. We go, we run the game. Social any kind. Yeah, yeah. Work of media. Hey, here we go. What are you like? First of all, on the debate that just came up about who is playing son of Black Panther,
Starting point is 01:00:23 somebody posted about the perception that American black actors are not, like, classically trained. And Ziggy Sabatka from Season 2 of the Wire posted all the people who were in the wire, like Wood Harris, MFA from NYU, Wendell Pierce, BFA from Juilliard, Larry Gileard, Julliard, Stella Adler, Conservatory, Lance Reddick, MFA, Yale, School of Drama. But, yeah, I think people are just like, man, where do you find these guys? They're so good at being from Baltimore.
Starting point is 01:01:00 So, anyways, that made me think of that. And then Sidney at Squid underscore bees, squid bees, tweeted, once I asked my dad his favorite color and he said, who gives a shit? It's good dadding.
