Hello, the Internet, and welcome to I Before E Except TDZ. That is a short show title courtesy of Fighter of the Nightman and brought to my attention by Discord Zeitgang. How I missed you, Discord Zeitgang.
Starting point is 00:02:18 Thanks for coming back to share what is happening with the Discord. The fruits of the discord. And I'm Jack and you are miles. Yep. And these are some of the things that are trending on this Friday afternoon headed to the weekend. Just relaxed, inspired pep in our step.
Starting point is 00:02:45 I on the school clock, waiting for the, waiting for the bell to ring. Mm-hmm. And then we're going to my friend's house because his parents are working late today
Starting point is 00:02:54 so we can smoke his mom's cigarettes. Well, the Dow's down. Yeah. The Dow's down so we can go smoke some cigarettes. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:04 Lauren Boebert and mtg they're beefing live together on my keyboard and harmony dude so political has this report that at a like a gop event lauren bobert and marjorie taylor green like gotten each other's faces to the point where people had to physically separate them. And I'm like, what happened? I thought y'all were both Confederates.
Starting point is 00:03:33 What happened? What happened? Did someone put on the Union blues in front of you and get angry? Confederates in many sense of the word. Yeah. That's interesting they that that's not shocking the you you would assume that putting two volatile uh people completely unbound by the strictures of reality together in a high- relationship um that is constantly changing uh would probably be uh
Starting point is 00:04:08 you know sparks might fly so oh yeah and i think too like because it'd be one thing if we're like but they're they they're all unite over a common belief that they really believe it's like now these people want to be in the spotlight and they say whatever they need to do that and when the egos get in the way then i'm sure that's when you realize we're not on the same page i'm just trying to be the the person who's the most reckless on tv and has that mantle so now having seen mtg's uh pull-up form does she become a more imposing or less imposing uh potential opponent in a uh that's a good that is a good question she's coming with the physical brawn for sure but it's not really like brawn would suggest strength and what she is doing when she's doing pull-ups is not like it's yeah it's just more flopping it's flopping flopping about um so but like that so on the one hand it's like well i don't know that that's kind of you you'd be like oh this
Starting point is 00:05:16 person actually thinks they're stronger than they are right so you have you have a wannabe ufc fighter margie taylor green i think i going to give the edge to Lauren Bovert because she actually shows us how terrible her gun safety discipline is. So I think even if Lauren Bovert wasn't pulling a gun in a fight, somehow a gun might go off being near her. Just a gun. Just ambient guns that are in in her vicinity at all times. Based on me, because remember, she would do like those zoom like like appearances and she would like precariously like lean a fucking assault rifle like on the bookshelf behind her with like.
Starting point is 00:05:56 Never went off miles. Never went off. Yeah, never went off. I don't know what you're talking about, dude. So what I loaded it and chambered around, it didn't do anything. so what I loaded it and chambered around it didn't do anything and the safety was off and I had a bunch of vibrating sticks near it that could have
Starting point is 00:06:08 apparently set the trigger off I don't know but in that sense I would say Lauren Boebert for her terrible gun safety is the more dangerous of the two I think Lauren Boebert I heard she could curve a bullet like in that movie with the assassins
Starting point is 00:06:23 James McAvoy wasins James McAvoy was that James McAvoy yeah I just remember that it's Angelina Jolie and what is that movie called that movie is Trunted of the yeah
Starting point is 00:06:40 of the like highest level like just pure yeah boiled down uh high intensity uh tridash i blame movies like wanted for the reason why we're trying to dust off old ip you know what i mean yeah yeah that might as well as an old ip huh that might as well have been old ip well right but i mean like in the sense right it was a graphic novel yeah yeah but what i'm what i mean to say is like we were just indulging new ideas like wanted you know what i mean and we're like yo hold on what the fuck
Starting point is 00:07:17 i don't know if we could call that a new idea that felt like a uh collage of previous ideas that has more in common with. Yeah. It reminded me of like every, every year there are seven or eight games that are first person shooters that all look like every other first person shooter and they're impossible to differentiate. I feel like one, it is in that with like kick ass and like every matrix
Starting point is 00:07:45 I'm not about to step into that and saying that apex looks like fucking black ops but you know what dude if that's what I do that's what I do that's what I'm trying to do you know that's straight up I'm standing here on my two feet in front
Starting point is 00:08:02 of God stating a strong video game opinion having not played video games since n64 no i just yeah no i i agree i'm just saying like i feel like even the mindless movies like they're trying really hard to be like remember all this other stuff that might make you want to go like wanted was just sort of like i don't know man this bullet curves in the movie yeah and that was kind of like you see the bullet curve yeah they took the idea of a curveball in baseball and applied it to uh bullet physics and that was good enough for me to be like i'm gonna go see that shit i saw that in a movie theater you saw wanted in the theater yeah dude oh I'm like I probably under represent how much of a action movie like bullshit fan I am I love a right I love a bad
Starting point is 00:08:57 action movie it's I'm I have this other thing where I all see every Terminator film in the theater Wow give a fuck I don't give a fuck I'm going you've seen Terminator film in the theater. Wow. I don't give a fuck. I don't give a fuck. I'm going. You've seen Terminator Salvation? Yeah, bro. I've seen every fucking Terminator. I mean, since T2 in the theater. I mean, that makes sense. Shout out my parents for taking me to see T2 as a child.
Starting point is 00:09:18 T2 feels like the most squarely a movie has just completely met with the sweet spot of the tennis racket foreshadowing onto the tennis ball. Also foreshadowing. We're going to talk about a tennis player in a second. The like expectations heading in of like, oh, my gosh, this is right. This is the coolest possible thing anyone could have done. And the age group that thought Terminator was cool, which was a lot of people, thought that movie was the best. So it makes sense.
Starting point is 00:09:52 I would probably still be going to see every Jaws in the movie theaters if they still made Jaws movies. Okay, see? We're true to this. Hey, speaking of tennis tennis as we just were boris becker one of the greats of my childhood um uh has been sentenced to two and a half years in prison uh for illicitly transferring large amounts of money and hiding assets after he was declared bankrupt. There is a method to declaring bankruptcy
Starting point is 00:10:30 and you can't break the rules and you got to tell the truth about how much money you don't have. Just doing the Michael Scott, man. Just go out there and say, I declare bankruptcy! Yeah. You're good, baby. Your debts are forgiven yeah i didn't i didn't realize when you said boris becker was trending i was like uh did he die or something
Starting point is 00:10:53 then i read him like oh he's like a bummer like he's got like bad financial problems and he's fucking his own shit up yeah oh well i don't even know what happened getting too excited when somebody's going to jail because they like didn't know what forms to fill out yeah like granted that's probably a little simplistic it does sound like he was trying to hide how much money he had and then get money from other places but i don't know man hey man you'll be the best player you'll be probably the best tennis player in jail though yeah just up against the wall but just fucking cranking shots you know the spin he can put on the ball uh on par with wanted uh bullet i they don't call it bullet curving they call it like something else i forget what it was but okay We can call it bullet curving. Yeah. Curve.
Starting point is 00:11:45 We will disrespect the novel. Oh, man. The wanted heads are coming for us. NFL draft is trending, stays trending. I've been resisting this for decades. I'm an immune system. Talking about this? Just the coverage, the trying to make
Starting point is 00:12:08 this into an event i remember when i was a kid and bored at this point in the year waiting for the nba playoffs to come on at night and it's a saturday late april early may. Maybe it's the day of the Kentucky Derby. And it's the wall-to-wall coverage of the NFL draft and wall-to-wall coverage leading up to the NFL draft. And I just like, I don't know. I couldn't care less about it, truly. It's too many. Yeah, as someone who doesn't care much about it. Truly. Too many. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:49 As someone who doesn't care much for American football as it is, I remember even as a kid, I was like, man, too many fucking people. Like, how many fucking people are in this thing? Yeah. Too many people, too many positions. So many of them are going to be like on the offensive or defensive line in a way that like doesn't scan to me when I'm watching games because I'm not the person who like watches them. You're like,
Starting point is 00:13:08 well, the true story of this game is actually the line play miles. I'm like, what? No, I'm like, for me, I'm like,
Starting point is 00:13:14 I know three people like I'd watch the draft. I'm like, okay, Ron Dane got drafted. That's the only person I know. Exactly. Can we move on? Um,
Starting point is 00:13:23 Ricky Williams. That was a big deal. Yeah. Anyways, but I'm curious, like for Zeitgang who are into the NFL draft, like what was the process? What was the year that like pulled you in? I have a theory that we just now,
Starting point is 00:13:42 like because of social media and like it seems like social media should have given us like alternatives to our to the like media overlords uh and you know we wouldn't be as susceptible to their opinions but actually it is like somehow made it so we have less of a defense for whatever they want us to like give a shit about and i i think because like all social media is like very effective marketing like marketing has gotten 20 times more effective than it ever was when uh before social media and so now it's just like everyone's like yeah we give a fuck about the nfl draft Of course we do. I'm watching which, you know,
Starting point is 00:14:27 left tackle a team. I kind of care about is going to draft. How could I not care about that? I want to see the people before CTE ruins their lives. Right. And they have no financial backing of the league. But yeah, I,
Starting point is 00:14:41 yeah, I don't know. I feel like the people who I know who are into the draft and the combine, they're like my friends who played football. Yeah. And they really... And that makes sense. And so their level of investment and understanding goes past mine.
Starting point is 00:14:53 And I'm like, yeah, cool, man. I don't know. I didn't think that big lineman was so agile. You're right. Cool. Yeah. All right. Well, that's why we don't have an NFL podcast.
Starting point is 00:15:06 We're going to take a break and then we're going to come back and talk about an NBA story. And you'll be like, wait, they have an NBA podcast. That seems weird. We'll see. Be right back. We'll see. Be right back. I'm Jess Casavetto, executive producer of the hit Netflix documentary series, Dancing for the Devil, the 7M TikTok cult.
Starting point is 00:15:37 And I'm Clea Gray, former member of 7M Films and Shekinah Church. And we're the host of the new podcast, Forgive Me For I Have Followed. Together, we'll be diving even deeper into the unbelievable stories behind 7M Films and LA-based Shekinah Church, an alleged cult that has impacted members for over two decades. Jessica and I will delve into the hidden truths between high-control groups and interview dancers, church members, and others whose lives and careers have been impacted, just like mine. Through powerful, in-depth interviews with former members and new, chilling firsthand accounts, the series will illuminate untold and extremely necessary perspectives. Forgive Me For I Have Followed will be more than an exploration. It's a vital revelation aimed at ensuring these types of abuses never happen again. Listen to Forgive Me For I Have Followed on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, I'm Gianna Pradente. And I'm Jemay Jackson-Gadsden. We're the hosts of Let's Talk
Starting point is 00:16:31 Offline, a new podcast from LinkedIn News and iHeart Podcasts. When you're just starting out in your career, you have a lot of questions, like how do I speak up when I'm feeling overwhelmed? Or can I negotiate a higher salary if this is my first real job? Girl, yes. Each week, we answer your unfiltered work questions. Think of us as your work besties you can turn to for advice. And if we don't know the answer, we bring in experts who do, like resume specialist Morgan Saner.
Starting point is 00:17:01 The only difference between the person who doesn't get the job and the person who gets the job is usually who applies. Yeah, I think a lot about that quote. What is it like you miss 100% of the shots you never take? Yeah, rejection is scary, but it's better than you rejecting yourself. Together, we'll share what it really takes to thrive in the early years of your career without sacrificing your sanity or sleep. Listen to Let's Talk Offline on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I'm Keri Champion, and this is season four of Naked Sports,
Starting point is 00:17:34 where we live at the intersection of sports and culture. Up first, I explore the making of a rivalry, Kaitlyn Clark versus Angel Reese. I know I'll go down in history. People are talking about women's basketball just because of one single game. Every great player needs a foil. I ain't really near them boys. I just come here to play basketball every single day and that's what I focus on.
Starting point is 00:17:52 From college to the pros, Clark and Reese have changed the way we consume women's sports. Angel Reese is a joy to watch. She is unapologetically black. I love her. What exactly ignited this fire? Why has it been so good for the game? And can the fanfare surrounding these two supernovas be sustained? This game is only going to get better because the talent is getting better.
Starting point is 00:18:16 This new season will cover all things sports and culture. Listen to Naked Sports on the Black Effect Podcast Network, iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. The Black Effect Podcast Network is sponsored by Diet Coke. I've been thinking about you. I want you back in my life. It's too late for that. I have a proposal for you. Come up here and document my project.
Starting point is 00:18:40 All you need to do is record everything like you always do. One session. 24 hours. BPM 110, 120. She's terrified. Should we wake her up? Absolutely not. What was that? You didn't figure it out?
Starting point is 00:18:58 I think I need to hear you say it. That was live audio of a woman's nightmare. This machine is approved and everything? You're allowed to be doing this? We passed the review board a year ago. We're not hurting people. There's nothing dangerous about what you're doing. They're just dreams.
Starting point is 00:19:18 Dream Sequence is a new horror thriller from Blumhouse Television, iHeartRadio, and Realm. Listen to Dream Sequence on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. And we're back. And the NBA playoffs, full steam ahead. We're the second round, almost fully locked down. The best series of the first round is still ongoing, wherein Ja Morant is taking on Anthony Edwards
Starting point is 00:19:52 and the Minnesota Timberwolves, Ja Morant, and the Memphis Grizzlies. That game six of that, probably the most, or sorry, game five of that was probably the most fun game of the playoffs so far. Yeah, totally. It'll be a thigh rubber. It'll be a thigh rubber tonight. Uh huh.
Starting point is 00:20:14 Yeah. It'll get people real, real nervous, real excited. Is that the only that's the only game today, right? Yeah, I think that's the only game today. And then tomorrow. And Sunday. You know, go Milwaukee. Go Bucks.
Starting point is 00:20:31 Giannis, baby. Go Bucks. Go Bucks. Even with Chris Middleton out, you'll figure it out. I believe in you. I don't know. We shall see. We love you, Milwaukee.
Starting point is 00:20:45 My Sixers made it through to the second round where they're playing the number one seed, Miami Heat. I think a lot of people think they're going to get swept, including Drake, who said that to Joel Embiid's face. He was like, all right, now go get swept by Miami. But he said it playfully he was just being fun right i'd be like okay look you tortured non-athlete go put your kentucky basketball uniform on and go play over there in the corner it's uh you know i i have a i i only
Starting point is 00:21:18 watch the games after they're over because i am a weak person and i just can't I can't watch them lose my fight or flight response may be too intense and and I my DVR did not record this game so like they're up 30 in the fourth quarter and I'm like woo
Starting point is 00:21:39 I'm getting ready I'm like and I go over it's not recorded and I was I go over, it's not recorded. And I was very, very sad. Um, so, uh, but also,
Starting point is 00:21:49 you know, go ahead. No, I was saying, no, just the Monday. We also get the Mav sons, uh,
Starting point is 00:21:56 series kicking off too. Yeah. All right. The, the Dallas fans are like, when are you going to talk about Dallas? Uh, and when Michael Finley's back on the court, Dallas fans are like, when are you going to talk about Dallas?
Starting point is 00:22:06 When Michael Finley's back on the court. My favorite Maverick player. I had a Mike Finley jersey. I don't know why. I think I was trying to get like a Jason Kidd throwback or something, and then they only have Mike Finley at Foot Locker. So I was just like, fine. There's no internet really for these kinds of sales Yet so I'll just take this and go
Starting point is 00:22:25 But anyways Shout out to all the NBA fans Especially the ones whose teams season Ended never fun To have the season end But now you get to Just enjoy the playoffs pure Yeah now build
Starting point is 00:22:41 A weird parasocial relationship With a new team Let that determine your Em outcome for the day. Yeah, usually takes a round. So that's also one of the good things about like last year, I couldn't fully start enjoying the NBA playoffs again until the finals after the Sixers were bounced embarrassingly by the Hawks. I was like, well, I don't want to watch them anymore or any basketball, any water sport. So, yeah.
Starting point is 00:23:17 But then once the finals rolled around, I was excited. And they were really fun. And Giannis is truly one of the most fun human beings to ever watch do anything. So shout out to all the NBA fans out there. Van Jones trending. Oh, Van Jones.
Starting point is 00:23:37 You're up, you're down, you're up, you're down when you're Van Jones. Today, he said something that was accurate and he's getting destroyed by Vote Blue No Matter Who
Starting point is 00:23:49 Twitter because of just this comment that I think is, yeah, I feel like this is something we talk about a lot. Van Jones. Hey, Van. Nice to see you. I think Harry used like, what, four or five bigs in terms of how he was trying to describe the drop in approval among black voters. What do you see happening here? Well, I think that used like, what, four or five bigs in terms of how he was trying to describe the drop in approval among black voters.
Starting point is 00:24:07 What do you see happening here? Well, I think that there's a disappointment factor that's set in. I think a lot of black voters feel like the black community gave the most during the election. It was a historic election, 2020, and have gotten the least. If you look at voting rights, so far, nothing. Police reform, so far, nothing. Police reform so far, nothing. You look at some of the student loan stuff, very little. So what was motivating African-American voters left, right and otherwise were that some somebody was going to come to our rescue.
Starting point is 00:24:36 The day to day reality for black folks hasn't improved. In fact, because of inflation and other things gotten worse. And so you're starting to see that disappointment factor set in. Do you think it will change the voting patterns? Well, i think i think that he goes on to say you know when you over promise so much in the beginning of the year and under deliver at the end of the year end of the year you suddenly end up with a disappointment factor plus inflation and dude big d democrat twitter is the saddest shit these people are like they're like he's a fucking moron this guy wow see yes yes it's how do you argue with that that was just because it's so controversial at all because people are so fucking lib brained that they could never they could never fathom that something could not
Starting point is 00:25:28 be going right in the party like it's the same thing with republicans if like a conservative like you're like how never trumper people even came out because they're like wait hold on y'all seeing this shit and they're like get the fuck out you get out you get and get. And now you get. You get out. You get now. And this is the same shit with him. And look, I disagree with Van Jones on a lot of shit, but this is true. This is like something that we've
Starting point is 00:25:55 constantly seen play out on Twitter where you have these mainstream media people like perplexed, scratching their head, being like, can someone really explain to me sort of what this disconnect is with youth voters and biden we thought everything was going well it's like all of y'all barely work or have careers where like your incomes are set and you're living in a completely different reality than people 40 and under and there's like that i don't know why so you i mean look more people so angry don't accurately
Starting point is 00:26:25 describe what is happening right now that's that's amazing i'm van jones is a republican so yeah um yeah i mean and then you have all these like stan like democrats and accounts fucking moron yeah what the fuck unemployment down to four percent over 42 percent like or saying 42 children lifted out of poverty well that was before well i don't know if you remember you let the child tax credits lapse right so then those kids are back in it so take a second and fucking really understand what's going on because when it's just it's just y'all are some of these people out here so fucking weird like just because someone is saying something
Starting point is 00:27:10 isn't good enough don't take that it just shows you can't you don't even have the wherewithal to say that's a personal attack against me rather than being of a mindset of oh is there any way we can be doing better for people and if you don't believe you can be doing better for people then of course you're going to you can be doing better for people, then of course
Starting point is 00:27:25 you're going to hear something like this and lose your fucking shit. Yeah, man. People. Alright. Well, this is going to be a trend that we'll be seeing in the coming months because that is a
Starting point is 00:27:41 unshakable reality that they seem unable to deal with. That's pretty wild. Exactly. We're over here watching from over here saying, yeah, nothing's changing. You have the same thing. What are people who care about body autonomy supposed to do? Democrats haven't done shit.
Starting point is 00:28:00 Right. What's a person who's saying, okay, well, do I have the agency over my body, my reproductive rights? And this party is not doing anything, but they're telling me it's important. How what how do you square that? And I think the reason why you have all these accounts coming out, it's the same thing. Like when the when the primaries are happening, which is like this mindset of like, well, then the fascists are going to win. It's like, well, the fascists are going to win because living conditions are bad for too many people. Right. And it allows for people to come in with their huckster ideas or whatever and start swaying people a certain direction.
Starting point is 00:28:35 That's the issue is that people aren't being supported. And so they're disillusioned. Yeah. I'm sort of thinking there's some conspiracy theory against Joe Biden. Like, wake the fuck up. disillusion yeah i'll start thinking there's some conspiracy theory against joe biden like wake the fuck up and finally bugs bunny is trending uh and this is this is tied to a rant from one of our favorite stand-up comedians let's not even say who it is uh let's just play the rant and i like this is not what i thought this uh person sounded like picture like uh you know i don't know if you guys
Starting point is 00:29:06 are familiar like old you know like new york stamp like carolines okay picture a stand-up down at carolines on stage uh and talking about cartoons one of the things that really bugged me were these zoom videos with all these people that are high up in Disney. You guys seen this? You guys seen this? Talking about how was their intention to inject sexuality into the programming for these very young kids. And so my wife and I, you know, we're thinking to ourselves, you know, when we were young, you could watch cartoons without having to worry. Now parents have to sit there and worry about what are they trying to inject in what type of ideology are they trying to pursue and that is
Starting point is 00:29:52 wrong right am i right ladies what else what else why did i have no idea that he sounded like that he just does not i for some reason, I thought he was like, you're a guy who talked like this, like a mega dude. He does. And, you know, I'm really, he kind of talks like this. I'm really, really honored to be signing this bill. That's him being formal guy. You get him on stage with that mic.
Starting point is 00:30:20 Now he's, now he's Ronnie. You know what I mean? He's like, and here's that thing. Oh, by the way, did we say who it is? It's Ron DeSantis. Oh, that was Ron DeSantis. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. I'm sure the Floridians or other people who have had that terrible tone burned into their mind knew.
Starting point is 00:30:38 But yes, Florida Governor DeSantis. So people are pointing out that there are many a Bugs Bunny cartoon featuring Bugs. Pepe Le Pew? Murdering someone. Pepe Le Pew enforcing, yeah, sexual predator. Famous sexual predator. I mean, you know, what like so many of these characters were like racial caricatures I remember being like as a kid being like damn there's like this racist ass
Starting point is 00:31:10 Asian characters in this cartoon but I'm like four and I'm like I don't know Bugs Bunny is having a good time so maybe this isn't bad and maybe it's the reason why you grow up thinking like you know all kinds of weird shit from the cartoons you watch but to even say that, like he was saying,
Starting point is 00:31:27 that Zoom call with Disney executives saying they want to inject sexuality in the cartoons, that's not what they fucking said. They said they wanted a more diverse representation of the characters in the thing. They never said, we need more fucking in the next Pixar movie. No, they said we need more diverse stories.
