Shout out to Johnny Davis on Twitter. Not on Discord this time.
Starting point is 00:02:29 Mixing it up, as he says. You know, you love a short show title. I'm Miles. That is Super Producer Anna Hosni. Yay, yay. What's up? Wow. Can you tell Dan no longer works on this show because I'm always here?
Starting point is 00:02:46 Because I'll be real with you. I hate doing anything. So whenever they'd be like, hey, one of the hosts is busy. Can one of you guys co-host? I would text Dan, say yes or else. So here I am. And you have no Danil decors. uh but anyway we hey but you know what i tell him i said get hosney in here the fuck because she needs to start we need to start
Starting point is 00:03:13 yelling at these trends what's trending out there i have to start working to be paid oh i can't just vibe out all right okay yeah because I send my invoices for vibing out, and, you know, accounts payable is just not sending any checks. The invoices are coming in, but I hear nothing back. I'm actually salary, but I don't do any work. You're like, dude, she's kind of like... That's the ultimate scam. I mean, isn't that like what in Italy they all do?
Starting point is 00:03:41 It's like, wasn't that whole thing in Italy where they're all like not really working? Oh, yeah, yeah there was a dude really working who low-key yeah exactly like when you work for the city but the thing that was great is that that person has somebody swiping in their badge and shit so they still look like they were working you know like everybody's got to get it how they live i mean look i have been trying to expense a cardboard cutout of myself to put in front of a zoom camera for years okay and how often do i tell you do the thing that my friend nick does which is record a video of yourself on photo booth of you pretending to be on a zoom call and then you edit that to be on a loop and you just project that during a zoom call haha yeah totally miles i agree with you and it's like jack saying something some super bummer shit
Starting point is 00:04:25 like what just yeah oh totally totally totally totally totally totally totally totally anyway um trends how many of us have them um trends ones we can depend on but let's first talk about what's trending first is lambda the lambda variant is trending right now because i mean not just on earth but like on the internet because people are starting to ask oh yeah it's popped up in the united states what is happening this new variant they say is potentially more dangerous and contagious than delta so look y'all it's just like fauci said he's like things could get so bad that we could see 200,000 positive cases a day coming up just because people aren't vaccinated and he said even if everybody got vaccinated now we wouldn't see the effect of it till at least mid to late September because you
Starting point is 00:05:18 know it's only until two weeks after your second shot that you're considered fully vaccinated and and like it seems like he's almost resigned to the fact he's like it and it could evolve you know into some more aggressive version that we will have to contend with because people aren't willing to look at this as like what we need to do to blunt a pandemic rather than seeing it as some weird personal freedom slash owning biden and fauci type behavior question is. Is the Lambda the Delta Plus? Or is Delta Plus its own thing? Delta Plus is its own thing.
Starting point is 00:05:51 Then there's Delta First and Delta Business. And then there's Sky One. You got me. I was like, oh, really? All right, you got me. That's all we can do is just laugh in the face of a potentially out of control pandemic what can you do but let's talk about something cool the eviction moratorium has been extended finally
Starting point is 00:06:11 because we talked about how democrats just let that shit just expire over the weekend like it was nothing but this new order that the cdc has put out it will expire on october 3rd and it's not it's not the same it's not like across the entire United States. It covers counties experiencing, quote, substantial or high levels of COVID-19 spread. And basically, they say that kind of includes roughly 90% of the U.S. population. So, you know, there's that.
Starting point is 00:06:38 And it seems like because of the actions of people like Cori Bush, you know, who was like, I will sleep on the steps of the Capitol to draw attention to the fact that people are facing the threat of being unhoused because of this bill, or the lack of action from Congress, that the administration finally kind of was like,
Starting point is 00:06:56 yeah, that's true, that's not a good look. Although you'd hope that there was something planned to keep people in their homes, who knows so a little bit of good news and here's a lot of good news okay because rihanna is now a billionaire okay i saw that i mean forbes just came through and said look it's really not because of the money it's it's from fenty is from savage fenty what's the makeup the makeup's fenty right makeup is fenty beauty the um lingerie is savage x fenty savage x fenty yes and that makes her like i think the wealthiest female musician and she's only second to oprah in the entertainer category um yeah yeah okay yeah i know you're like oh the one but it's
Starting point is 00:07:49 just funny did you see brody reed's tweet i talked about him tomorrow's episode but he was like i hate to say this but rihanna should not exist it was like a quote tweet when it said uh rihanna is now a billionaire because a lot of people are like having trouble they're like oh god look at her she's savage with the bag now uh and has done it so that's rough rihanna you're a realionaire or whatever as people are saying good to see it um maybe hope do something cool with it you know hopefully do something cool with it she seems like she would like she would be like i bought all the vaccines for india or something right exactly she's like oh yeah i use that like i opened uh nine vaccine factories like across the world to make distribution much smoother um and then people like damn and she drops an album called distro oh my god yeah kovacs in about
Starting point is 00:08:38 10 years yeah when she gets around to it i love them i actually love the rihanna of like i'll get to a song yeah you know what just play what's that one tame impala song i like yeah i'm gonna just do that one on the album it's good it's a good song though isn't it feel like a brand new person oh man i love that song are you gonna change any of it? No. No? Just drop the same beat, instrumental, and I'll just sing over it. Give me the same vocal effects as Kevin Parker. Let's go. But that song is just fantastic. It's a great song.
Starting point is 00:09:14 And you're not mad at it. You're not mad at it. I heard it and I was like, okay, Rihanna, you know I love you, girl. Keep going, keep going, keep going, keep going. She doesn't have to drop music. I don't care. She can keep living living if you're a billionaire right if rihanna's a billionaire do you think she's like fuck i'm a billionaire bro that's not a good look or she's like yes a thought experiment for you and let's say you become a billionaire right what would you miles
Starting point is 00:09:37 yeah you're on your way you're on your way i'm saying if you're a billionaire is there a number that you go i'm gonna give away away this much that I need to have? What's your minimum if you're going to cut down your billion? I'm Persian and raised by my father. So you would never know I'm a billionaire. I would continuously say I was broke for the rest of my life. That's all my dad ever taught me is no matter how much money you have is to always say you're broke. So no one looks in your direction.
Starting point is 00:10:02 Yeah, nobody's looking for your check. So you would never know I was a billionaire. Oh, right. Okay okay that makes you literally have to peel those tax returns out of my bloody dead cold hands oh so you're gonna be secret shame billionaire yeah of course i would because i don't want anyone being like anna hey what's up so i'm starting this business right and i think you're great oh look it's only like it's barely over a billion stop treating me like a multi-billionaire i've just got there you you go talk to somebody else okay let me enjoy my three commas i've had to have long discussions with my dad over this like it should be like you know after a while it's just like
Starting point is 00:10:39 what you do when you like are driving a bmw and then also telling me to my face that you're broke, it makes no sense. And guess what? You look incredibly dishonest and shady. Yeah. And my dad would be like, so? That's my problem, not your problem. And I'd be like, what? What is this strategy?
Starting point is 00:10:58 This weird immigrant father logic. You're like, what? Well. So. Who knows? So what was the thought experiment exactly? No, it's fine. It makes sense now because I remember when you pulled out in that lambo suv the other day i was like where the fuck did you get that you're like it's a rental i i got a thrift store
Starting point is 00:11:13 oh this no this is someone i don't know i'm just helping somebody out with it what car drive this i don't see no car wait now you're hopping into bentley yeah i mean the new car smell vanished out that Lambo. Are you kidding me? All right, let's take a break. Let's pay some bills, and we'll come right back and keep talking trends. This summer, the nation watched as the Republican nominee for president was the target of two assassination attempts separated by two months. These events were mirrored nearly 50 years ago when President Gerald
Starting point is 00:12:46 Ford faced two attempts on his life in less than three weeks. President Gerald R. Ford came stunningly close to being the victim of an assassin today. And these are the only two times we know of that a woman has tried to assassinate a U.S. president. One was the protege of infamous cult leader Charles Manson. I always felt like Lynette was kind of his right-hand woman. The other, a middle-aged housewife working undercover for the FBI in a violent revolutionary underground. Identified by police as Sarah Jean Moore.
Starting point is 00:13:17 The story of one strange and violent summer. This is Rip Current, available now with new episodes every Thursday. Listen on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Substance use disorder and addiction is so isolating. And so as a black woman in recovery, hope must be loud. It grows louder when you ask for help and you're vulnerable. It is the thread that lets you know that no matter what happens, you will be okay. When we learn the power of hope, recovery is possible.
Starting point is 00:13:56 Find out how at startwithhope.com. Brought to you by the National Council for Mental Well-Being, Shatterproof, and the Ad Council. I've been thinking about you. I want you back in my life it's too late for that i have a proposal for you come up here and document my project all you need to do is record everything like you always do one session 24 hours bpm 110 120 she's terrified should we wake her up? Absolutely not. What was that?
Starting point is 00:14:28 You didn't figure it out? I think I need to hear you say it. That was live audio of a woman's nightmare. This machine is approved and everything? You're allowed to be doing this? We passed the review board a year ago. We're not hurting people. There's nothing dangerous about what you're doing
Starting point is 00:14:45 they're just dreams dream sequence is a new horror thriller from blumhouse television iheart radio and realm listen to dream sequence on the iheart radio app apple podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts and we're back megan markel is trending because it's her 40th birthday good for her to you and you know what the queen and prince william even wished her well through clenched teeth i'm sure um but yeah at 40 40 and looking fabulous. Good for you. Harry and I, we're looking at 37 this year. Oh, he likes an older lady, huh? Yeah. I love that.
Starting point is 00:15:32 The wisdom. You know what I mean? A little more experience. The kind that's not going to let you get away with peeing all over the toilet. You know what I mean? Like, Harry, you are too old to be doing this. You're right, Megan. Good for her also.
Starting point is 00:15:43 Shout out to the women who are still having babies in the you know older age because it can be tough and you know what more power to you because i don't think there should be an age limit of when you should you know societally stop having kids fuck that if you're still able to produce even through ivf do it but you can't boom statement should i freeze my eggs? Do whatever you want to do, man. What if I just, like, I'm going to talk to you about something.
Starting point is 00:16:10 Should I freeze my eggs? I'm like, yeah. You don't have space. What, you need to use my freezer? And I just show how ignorant I am to even what you're talking about? Yeah, can I use your freezer for my frozen eggs?
Starting point is 00:16:18 Yeah, sure. Yeah. Do I just keep it on dry ice or something? Yeah, if you could just, like, yeah, just throw it in a cooler on dry ice you know who's else is having a birthday is barack obama and this poor fella for his 60th birthday he had to scale back his bidet party and i mean bidet party because you know he's doing the responsible thing because delta variant because of high transmissibility and things like that it said
Starting point is 00:16:45 quote hundreds of former obama administration officials celebrities and democratic donors have been planning to attend the huge bash on martha's vineyard on saturday but it had to be canceled over health and safety concerns so you know it's it's his party and he'll cry if he wants to but you know i don't know what else to say. I wish I had hundreds of friends. I think that's what it's all about. He also, they just dropped a three-part documentary on him on HBO Max. What was it about?
Starting point is 00:17:15 Him? And what? Him? I don't know. It's called like Obama. Obama where art thou? The bootcut gene. How could you imagine?
Starting point is 00:17:22 Obama where art thou is better. Anyway, yeah. Shout out to his bootcut jean obama where are those anyway yeah shut up feeling when obama the bootcut jean remember when he was wearing bootcut jeans just so funny to me it's such a look bootcut jeans are i don't know what you think when you put on a bootcut jean like as an older person like what are you you're like hello who's mr styles or whatever when you're looking in the mirror that's how i imagine my dad is when he goes to like lucky jeans and he's like oh oh fresh guy coming through fresh broke guy coming through yeah that picture of him like wearing a white socks jacket and his legs just look like two chimneys they are they're absurd they're straight stove pipes like they look like big ass abraham lincoln fucking hats but for his
Starting point is 00:18:26 pant leg and same with michael jordan i don't know what happens with these older black men they they gravitate towards the bootcut jeans but it is what it is sorry that shit just caught me off guard it's it's a wild look it's a wild look i'm hold on'm going to text it to you so you can just see this one picture. No, I see it. It's a fucking vanity fair. Yeah, exactly. And they're like, what happened to him? He's in these dad jeans. He can't quit them.
Starting point is 00:18:58 Immediately, everyone is like, and he is the coolest president we've ever had. I mean, honestly, the bar is fucking low and wearing bootcut jeans because like like let's be real if you're a u.s president you're like you're doing war crimes no matter what but like then we're just like all right that part aside what kind of jeans are you wearing are they yeah are they bell bottomy i mean you're saying you're seeing a bootcut jean that's like, yes, drone that Yemeni wedding.
Starting point is 00:19:26 Yeah, 100%. I mean, I can't look at those jeans and go, this person feels something. Actually, nothing is more believable than a man in bootcut jeans is trying to kill all these Yemeni families. It actually makes sense. Death wears bootcut jeans, as the Bible said. War criminals wear bootcut jeans as the bible said war criminals wear so let's talk about the other next thing trending speaking of dc is the washington football team with the formerly just very aggressively racist name the red skins they had to change their name
Starting point is 00:19:59 because yeah it's fucking the 21st century hello but the team recently made an announcement in an email to like all their season ticket holders and fans who are like on this mail blast that just essentially said like, look, we are excited to welcome everyone back wearing their burgundy and gold. However, Native American inspired ceremonial headdresses or face paint may no longer be worn into the stadium. You'll have to do it in the bathroom after you pass security the fact that they have to even say that i mean it yeah because they do because you know because it's it's good it's like anything right when especially when you have the conservatives
Starting point is 00:20:34 you're like there was nothing ever wrong with that name like all the trolls what they're going to want to do is like fine you change the team name then i'm still going to pull up in my fucking problematic cultural appropriation cosplay but yeah i think the and then the cleveland baseball team i think they're like the guardians now they changed their name to something like that so yeah there's a bunch of like comments and and tweets about why and let me tell you couldn't understand what anyone was talking about i was just like okay wait why what no because everyone was described a lot of people were tweeting and commenting on instagram and twitter about like why they're
Starting point is 00:21:08 called the guardians now oh got you you know when you just see a topic that your brain refuses to like process in any way yeah yeah it's just like my brain which i just kept seeing people being like and this is why they're called and it was just my brain would be like. What? What the fuck are you talking about? Yeah. I'd be like, who? Yeah, you're all confused. We don't know how Gordy is. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:30 You get all confused after. You're like, huh? Yeah. What did I? Where am I? I don't give a fuck about any of the words in that sequence. Yet I read it and I just went into a spiral of confusion. I mean, there seems to be a good reason.
Starting point is 00:21:44 But I'm telling you guys, I kept reading them and kept being like, what? Right. I just couldn't process it. And I'm sure it is a good reason. I mean, look, anything you do to pivot off of that dumb shit is a win. You could have been called the Cleveland hot dogs. I've been like, yeah, great.
Starting point is 00:21:59 Cool. I love it. I can wrap my head around that. At least that would be kind of cool. The hot dogs. Anyway, that's for another show. All another show alright well that's what's trending today y'all check in tomorrow for a whole entire episode it's gonna be
Starting point is 00:22:12 fantastic until next time you know just do all the things you gotta do be safe wear a mask get vaccinated help people get vaccinated help convince them that you know what it sounds like the FDA is trying to approve it so if you have any holdouts, we're like, it's not even FDA approved. Well, that argument may vanish soon and then we'll see what happens. And then they might pivot to another thing,
Starting point is 00:22:33 in which case you'll be like, OK, so this was never about anything at all. But please encourage them to be vaccinated, wear a mask and don't do nothing about any kind of hatred. OK, that's white supremacy, misogyny, homophobia, xenophobia, any phobias. Just get off that shit. Till then, we'll see you later. Bye-bye. Till then, remember, you're always broke. There's so much beauty in Mexican culture,
Starting point is 00:23:01 like mariachis, delicious cuisine, and even lucha libre.
