Hello, the internet, and welcome to this episode of Johnny Trend Main. Yeah. That is a short show titled Courtesy of Gotham City Mayor.
Starting point is 00:02:11 Yeah. What a get for us, the mayor of Gotham City. Yeah. Do they give any indication which mayor of Gotham City we're working with? Nope. Based on their avatar on Discord, it looks like it looks like goofy beto o'rourke oh okay so i can see that yeah um johnny termain is a uh newberry medal award winning book jack i was like i i had to read this in school and i was like it sounds really familiar so i probably
Starting point is 00:02:41 was supposed to read it at some point yeah it, it's just about this kid who's getting caught up in the dang Revolutionary War in Boston. Right. Oh, man. Johnny Tremaine. Great name, Johnny Tremaine. Yeah. I feel like it should have been one of the names of, I don't know, like a 50s. It's a character in The Outsiders, for sure.
Starting point is 00:03:04 Yeah, Johnny Tremaine is a great character in The Outsiders. There's Oni Boy, Johnny Tremaine. Exactly. Rab Silsby. And the girl from the right side of the tracks is falling in love with him and wants him to come to the sock hop. And he goes, but he accidentally stabs someone
Starting point is 00:03:20 with a switchblade in a fight. And then her dad's pissed. The one couple of things I remember is from that book is there the character rab silsby was his friend and i was like rab silsby is this fucking made up and then there's another girl named dorkus that's cool i mean that was a real name for a long time i know but i'm dumb did you think did you think that was goes so badly for people with that name that people were like, that's it, your name is now an insult. Hey, Dorcas Malorcas.
Starting point is 00:03:54 Anyways, speaking of things going badly for people, Kyle Rittenhouse is trending because because he announced on Charlie Kirk's podcast that he's going to Texas A&M. He's going to be an Aggie. Did he do the thing where he had two hats, and he pulled the hat, and he's like, and I'm going to... Basically, those were the vibes of his announcement, and Charlie Kirk was like,
Starting point is 00:04:23 Kyle Rittenhouse is letting us know he's gonna be an aggie and there's like a social media post with him like at the campus being like uh ready or not and then a dean from texas a&m was like hey he's not admitted as a student we don't know what anyone's talking about he was like, you thought I meant next year. Oh, no, no, no, no. I'm just saying I plan on going to a different college next year and then to Texas A&M the year after. Was that not clear?
Starting point is 00:04:56 Okay. Oh, you meant actually attending. No, I'm going to go check it out. I hear it's really cool. So I'm going to go check it out. I hear it's really cool. So I'm going there. Yeah. But I love because we got Baylor, Baylor blood in the show. Are the chat right now on this Zoom call is just lighting up with A&M hatred from the Baylor, the Baylor side of things from Becca.
Starting point is 00:05:19 OK, we see you. And then she said, and now I side with Kyle Rittenhouse because Texas A&M disavowed him, which is wild. Enemy of my enemy is my friend. Just kidding. She did not say that. Never said that.
Starting point is 00:05:38 Fauci's trending because after much speculation that this was going to happen to the point that i thought this announcement had already been made i thought this feels like it's a story that is manufactured by the you know mainstream media to have something to write about but he came out and was like i will be leaving my current position uh officially by the end of the year we talked about this on trends like when it first the story first came i wonder if this is like one of those things where they know they'll get fucking clicks right with something saying fauci out yeah you know out
Starting point is 00:06:18 see yeah um even though because what's he's like i saw the thing he's got a new chapter he's ready for yeah fucking retirement. Not exactly retirement. But yeah. It's just the most boring news story I've ever seen people care about multiple times. It does give people an opportunity to be like
Starting point is 00:06:38 good riddance. Exactly. It's a story for engagement's sake I feel like. Yeah. Exactly. Anyways. you suck it's a story for engagement's sake I feel like anyways Dugan I believe that's how we're pronouncing that or I guess we'd America-fied the fuck out of that name Jimmy Dugan
Starting point is 00:06:55 Jim Dugan no so the architect many would say neo-Nazi architect of Putin's decision to invade Ukraine, there was a car bomb that people suspect was aimed at him. He took a different car at the last second and it killed his daughter, who was a famous presenter,
Starting point is 00:07:20 a famous on-air media personality. And he has come out and been like ukraine was behind this which i don't think anybody except maybe you know a handful of staunch putin supporters believe but yeah he's claiming ukraine was behind it uh the kremlin has been silent an advisor to president volinskyky of Ukraine said his country had played no role in the bombing. I don't think they're going to waste their time trying to fight off an invasion.
Starting point is 00:07:53 Yeah, this person's daughter. I get it. They call this guy Putin's brain or whatever. He's the spiritual advisor of this war or whatever weird terminology is being used. He looks like like Costco Rasputin. Yeah, Costco Rasputin
Starting point is 00:08:10 is a great description. I would suspect it's more likely to be Putin than it is to be Ukraine. I think that's what some people are speculating right away, that it could be a nice little false flag. He has been known to bomb Russian apartment apartment buildings or wars and he you know would certainly not be above
Starting point is 00:08:33 assassinating somebody who was responsible for the planning of an attack that hurt his reputation um and then yeah is it like is the energy with that is like Billy Madison like, you blew it! It's like a spite killing. Man, the world is fucked up. Climate change. Speaking of the world being fucked up, there are a series of terrifying, once in a thousand years,
Starting point is 00:09:02 storms happening on the regular. I think there were like three of them in Death Valley in the past year. That's why there's terrible flooding recently. Yeah. And Dallas is currently there's really awful flooding and you know three months worth of rain in a single
Starting point is 00:09:20 evening the past 24 hours. So hopefully everybody's doing all right there uh i think i read china is seeing a heat wave that is like a once in a thousand year climate catastrophe happening in china in the near future um so this just seems to be and flash floods everywhere we've heard about all over the country and i mean like they talk california is especially vulnerable to something like this uh they talk about just how the the like the way the state is and the floodplains and things like that there was a flood that reached like from that was like 300 miles long
Starting point is 00:09:59 and 60 miles wide yeah so that's that's possible like i think the last time it happened was at the like the end of the 19th century um so you know just but that is dealing with that a thousand years so all these once in a thousand year uh climate catastrophes that keep uh keep happening on the regular yeah and i think they they call it that is because it's so rare. I forget, it's like the chances are like one in a thousand, whatever. All that to say, good description of shit that shouldn't
Starting point is 00:10:34 be happening multiple times all the time. Frequently. I am going to Dallas in the not too distant future assuming our Oh yeah, you're waiting for JFK Jr. to come back, right? I've had some communications
Starting point is 00:10:50 with him on a couple message boards that I frequent. This one, I've been there for the past five weekends, but this one feels real to me. So I'll be there.
Starting point is 00:11:07 I'll be recording from dallas uh so i'll have firsthand uh accounts yeah of what's going on down there and you're gonna be live from dealey square right or dealey plaza what's it called dealey plaza okay great when he returns and uh puts fauci and hillary clinton Clinton and Obama in jail. And Michael Jackson was on drums. Yeah. All right, let's take a quick break. We'll be right back. I'm Jess Casavetto,
Starting point is 00:11:38 executive producer of the hit Netflix documentary series Dancing for the Devil, the 7M TikTok cult. And I'm Clea Gray, former member of 7M Films and Shekinah Church. And we're the host of the new podcast, Forgive Me For I Have Followed. Together, we'll be diving even deeper into the unbelievable stories behind 7M Films and LA-based Shekinah Church, an alleged cult that has impacted members for over two decades. Jessica and I will delve into the hidden truths between high control groups and interview dancers, church members, and others whose lives and careers
Starting point is 00:12:10 have been impacted, just like mine. Through powerful, in-depth interviews with former members and new, chilling firsthand accounts, the series will illuminate untold and extremely necessary perspectives. Forgive Me For I Have Followed will be more than an exploration. It's a vital revelation aimed at ensuring these types of abuses never happen again. Listen to Forgive
Starting point is 00:12:31 Me For I Have Followed on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, I'm Gianna Pradente. And I'm Jemay Jackson-Gadsden. We're the hosts of Let's Talk Offline, a new podcast from LinkedIn News and iHeart Podcasts. When you're just starting out in your career, you have a lot of questions, like how do I speak up when I'm feeling overwhelmed? Or can I negotiate a higher salary if this is my first real job?
Starting point is 00:12:57 Girl, yes. Each week, we answer your unfiltered work questions. Think of us as your work besties you can turn to for advice. And if we don't know the answer, we bring in experts who do, like resume specialist Morgan Saner. The only difference between the person who doesn't get the job and the person who gets the job is usually who applies.
Starting point is 00:13:16 Yeah, I think a lot about that quote. What is it, like you miss 100% of the shots you never take? Yeah, rejection is scary, but it's better than you rejecting yourself. Together, we'll share what it really takes to thrive in the early years of your career without sacrificing your sanity or sleep. Listen to Let's Talk Offline on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:13:41 I'm Keri Champion, and this is season four of Naked Sports, where we live at the intersection of sports and culture. Up first, I explore the making of a rivalry, Kaitlyn Clark versus Angel Reese. I know I'll go down in history. People are talking about women's basketball just because of one single game. Every great player needs a foil.
Starting point is 00:13:59 I ain't really near them. Why is that? I just come here to play basketball every single day, and that's what I focus on. From college to the pros, Clark and Reese have changed the way we consume women's sports. and hear them voice. I just come here to play basketball every single day and that's what I focus on. From college to the pros, Clark and Reese have changed the way we consume women's sports. Angel Reese is a joy to watch.
Starting point is 00:14:12 She is unapologetically black. I love her. What exactly ignited this fire? Why has it been so good for the game? And can the fanfare surrounding these two supernovas be sustained? This game is only going to get better because the talent is getting better. This new season will cover all things sports and culture.
Starting point is 00:14:30 Listen to Naked Sports on the Black Effect Podcast Network, iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. The Black Effect Podcast Network is sponsored by Diet Coke. I've been thinking about you. I want you back in my life. It's too late for that. I have been thinking about you. I want you back in my life. It's too late for that. I have a proposal for you. Come up here and document my project.
Starting point is 00:14:51 All you need to do is record everything like you always do. One session. 24 hours. BPM 110. 120. She's terrified. Should we wake her up? Absolutely not.
Starting point is 00:15:06 What was that? You didn't figure it out? I think I need to hear you say it. That was live audio of a woman's nightmare. This machine is approved and everything? You're allowed to be doing this? We passed the review board a year ago. We're not hurting people.
Starting point is 00:15:22 There's nothing dangerous about what you're doing. They're just dreams. Dream Sequence is a new horror thriller from Blumhouse Television, iHeartRadio, and Realm. Listen to Dream Sequence on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. And we're back. We're back hundred thousand dollars is trending uh that is what the wall street journal uh is reporting uh the new estimate for the cost of raising a child through high school um which yeah kids are expensive 300 yes they're saying something like it can be 18 grand a year for a
Starting point is 00:16:07 middle-class family to spend on a kid um yeah wow that much money huh yeah i look at that and i think wow that's that's so much weed and video games i cannot buy i mean that's mostly what we spend it on for our kids is weed and video games. Yeah. I thought that's actually what the estimate was coming from. It was just all the weed and video games you got to buy these kids. That's all they want. It's like they're powered off this stuff.
Starting point is 00:16:36 But what they don't talk about is how those kids will be earning for you once you get them an Instagram following and put them to work in the mine. That's what I'm doing. And I hope, you know, when I have a child, I will just switch my social media to them. So that way they have inbuilt followers. That's the only way to do it. I hope you don't mind. It's going to be the same general content.
Starting point is 00:17:11 Two-pronged approach. Labor, hard labor, but then also trying to get them to be an influencer. Maybe minor, minor influencer is the vibe we're going for. Do they know how to find precious metals minor minor influencer uh is kind of the the vibe we're going for when realistically it's like
Starting point is 00:17:25 do they know how to find precious metals from the ruins of our cities right yeah we use that to barter for food and water copper that's right yeah um all right uh movies that were never made is there's a new article from Variety. They got my ass. I'll tell you that much with this one. Any of these jumping out at you? I think this Chris Nolan written Howard Hughes biopic starring Jim Carrey. Now, what happened? This was after Martin Scorsese made his?
Starting point is 00:18:01 This is pre-Aviator. Oh. Oh. Nolan was out here. So Nolan was... He had his eye on you. It was either that or Memento. Like that.
Starting point is 00:18:12 It was like that long ago. Yeah, I don't know. I don't know what the actual date was. But yeah, this was apparently before there was any buzz through the Scorsese thing. We had a Michael Mann, James Dean biopic starring Leonardo DiCaprio. That would have been wild.
Starting point is 00:18:29 That would have been wild. I do like a good Michael Mann movie. This feels a little bit... I thought James Dean was mainly hot and drove too fast were his two things. But maybe there's more to his story i'm sure all the dinos uh let me know i'm sure i'm missing out on some good shit right but that that one jumped out at me there's like a star wars one uh quentin turn two quentin tarantino ones uh kill bill volume three uh which i'm good with um and double v. Double V Vega, which I was also... It would have been... I mean, it sounded like fun.
Starting point is 00:19:08 It would have been set in Amsterdam. When Vincent Vega was in Amsterdam, the conversation at the beginning of Pulp Fiction, it would have covered that. Royale with cheese. His fun brother, Michael Madsen, Mr. Blonde, he was a blast. He was a laugh riot, right?
Starting point is 00:19:24 That guy's a mess. That guy's a riot, right? That guy's a mess. That guy's a real mess. Real psychopathic killer. Really messed the bed that one. I forgot that in the lore of the Tarantinoverse that they're like Vincent Vega from Pulp Fiction
Starting point is 00:19:40 and Vic Vega from Reservoir Dogs or Siblings. Oh yeah. The whole Tarantino-verse. Yeah. I could probably do an eight-hour podcast just talking about that. And it would be bad. I also recognize that.
Starting point is 00:19:54 Spike Lee planned to direct a biopic about Jackie Robinson. Yeah. Which I did not know about that. Another one, Darren Aronofsky's Batmanman year one yeah holy shit i kind of like that that i can't imagine what the fuck that would look like honestly like aronofsky's he's got a vibe so that yeah he has a vibe like that like batman through the eyes of aronofsky, I feel like could have been very cool. That's a miss for me.
Starting point is 00:20:27 I'm sad we didn't get that. George Miller's Justice League Mortal. So granted, part of me is like, yeah, that's what we need is more superhero movies. Okay. Because that's how I talk. But George Miller, I don't know. Because we are making seemingly superhero movies
Starting point is 00:20:49 from now until the sun burns out, I do feel like having George Miller's take on what a superhero movie would look like would be worthwhile. And then also Aronofsky on it. Batman in particular. Batman specifically.
Starting point is 00:21:06 Whatever. Because you know he likes broken people. That's like Aronofsky on a batman in particular like dude i mean specifically whatever because you know like he likes broken people that's like aronofsky's thing is like you want to see a broken motherfucker it's like the vibes of his films like i it would have made like robert pattinson's like pattinson's version of bruce wayne like probably seem like so healthy and like upbeat and a fun guy like aronofsky's version of bruce may be like probably seem like so healthy and like upbeat and a fun guy like aronofsky's version of bruce may be like like just i can't imagine like he's fucking addicted to heroin or some shit i don't who knows where the fuck that goes and he's like probably a scene where he beats up a drug dealer but only to get the drugs because he's trying to kick heroin or something right that's a fucking weird scene yeah um and then there's like a bunch that
Starting point is 00:21:45 are i think just didn't happen for good reason like yeah uh like eastern promises too right i love the eastern promises yeah i i was fine but i'm not like hey man run it back run that back run that back build out the mythos yeah i love love seeing scrotum knife fights in a bathhouse. All right. So Spike Jones, Harold on the Purple Cram. Do you know Harold on the Purple Cram? No. Kid's book where a kid like draws his way to the moon and back using the alphabet.
Starting point is 00:22:17 And that's one that like in theory, I'm all for it. But like, you know, where the wild things are worked better as a 14 page book of illustrations i would sooner entrust michelle gondry if we're gonna have music video directors do this film i think gondry like his a concept of like dream worlds is more interesting to me like spike jones he's just become a solid director with like interesting ideas but like i don't know like yes like it feels like even with where the wild things are he's like really trying to honor sendax like illustrations not taking too much liberties with it and whereas you know something like that with the purple crayon let me see michelle all right
Starting point is 00:22:58 and the number one movie that like i feel we were robbed of not because i necessarily think it would have been a good movie but sylvester stallone's edgar allen poe movie starring robert downey jr i mean first of all sylvester stallone probably thinks of himself as like a tortured writer and in many ways and i don't it's just such a strange pick like he sylvester stallone thinks that celery is junk food like he's like uh too much too much salt in that and agri alan poe like drank himself to death like at 30 something like it just feels like such a weird fit yo wait how old was he when he died oh i thought he was in his like 30s i don't know i'm just i'm just thinking of like our idea of him and what he
Starting point is 00:23:52 looks like i'm like damn they were living rough oh he was 40 40 all right yeah but he looked he didn't look great i mean the times are tough man times are rough back the daguerreotype of him that is like the main reason we know what he looks like uh yeah it was was from his last year of life i guess so ah okay we didn't catch him at his peak no anyways uh and then herschel walker let's bring it home with herschel walker he did not have a movie that was almost made uh he's trending for another reason what's going on yeah he's you know he continues to be running uh for senate uh and he had this take on the stupid um inflation reduction i like just the climate bill and he said he said okay if you remember the school shooting he said we need a
Starting point is 00:24:45 department that will look at uh you know what young men on social media are looking at and that type of stuff and that sort of thing so then that way we know what they're looking at was his solution to school so with his take on climate change is quote they continue to try to fool you that they are helping you out but they're not because a lot of money is going to trees don't we have enough trees around here thank you i mean and good night i'm giving my dang money to trees yeah um war knock is ahead by like i think just about two points somehow wow and trump's people always underperform in the polls. So we'll see.
Starting point is 00:25:29 It might be... Yeah. Who knows? It might be the guy. It might be. Oh, boy. Anyways, those are some of the things that are trending on this Monday, August 22nd. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:42 22-22. We are back tomorrow with the whole last episode of the show until then be kind to each other be kind to yourself get the vaccine don't do nothing about white supremacy and we will talk to y'all tomorrow bye
