Clark and Reese have changed the way we consume women's basketball. just because of one single game. Clark and Reese have changed the way we consume women's basketball. And on this new season, we'll cover all things sports and culture. Listen to Naked Sports on the Black Effect Podcast Network, iHeartRadio apps, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:00:56 The Black Effect Podcast Network is sponsored by Diet Coke. I'm Keri Champion, and this is season four of Naked Sports. Up first, I explore the making of a rivalry. Kaitlyn Clark versus Angel Reese. Every great player needs a foil. I know I'll go down in history. People are talking about women's basketball just because of one single game. Clark
Starting point is 00:01:15 and Reese have changed the way we consume women's sports. Listen to the making of a rivalry. Kaitlyn Clark versus Angel Reese on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Presented by Capital One, founding partner of iHeart Women's Sports.
Starting point is 00:01:31 Hey, I'm Gianna Pradenti. And I'm Jermaine Jackson-Gadson. We're the hosts of Let's Talk Offline from LinkedIn News and iHeart Podcasts. There's a lot to figure out when you're just starting your career. That's where we come in.
Starting point is 00:01:42 Think of us as your work besties you can turn to for advice. And if we don't know the answer, we bring in people who do, like negotiation expert Maury Tahiripour. If you start thinking about negotiations as just a conversation, then I think it sort of eases us a little bit. Listen to Let's Talk Offline on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hello, the internet, and welcome to this episode of misha trend if you seek a pleasant trend in ninsula look about you uh this is a throwback to when we were doing the state yeah states the their little tag lines on their license plates um gotta say i i didn't go with that one before uh because it's sweaty as fuck michigan that is gotta work on your just take a second pass of that one um but i mean look about you but what
Starting point is 00:02:33 if i'm seeking a pleasant peninsula and i'm not in michigan right well that's that's the question right like right i'm like i don't know i'm in in North Hollywood. That sounds like more of a like advice about personal wellness, like right inside of you. If you're seeking something pleasant, but anyways, uh, Tuesday is Michigan Day. So that's why I decided
Starting point is 00:02:57 to bring it back. Yeah. Sorry. Spoiler for Tuesday's episode, but it's all about Michigan. Yeah. Uh, yeah. Uh, but it's all about Michigan. Yeah. But I am Jack and that over there, well, that's Miles Gray. Hi. Hi. I was saying yes in Japanese. Oh, okay.
Starting point is 00:03:16 So one heads up for you guys in the long weekend is that next week we're going to be doing the next dish of Anna of anna's streaming corner streaming that's right it's happening yeah we're going to be talking about yellow jackets if you are not up on yellow jackets uh you need to go back or you need to go and watch it hurry up and yeah use the log we'll give you the login right now it's
Starting point is 00:03:45 jack o'brien at daily zeitgeist is the name miles that's not the right one miles is so cute so cute can you imagine that's a real thing anyway ask around you can find a showtime login where miles and i are both logged into the same account. We're getting, we're able to watch it. Um, but I guess this show, we should tell them what's trending. James Bond was trending yesterday because now that the last Craig Bond is out, people are reviving the question, who should bond be?
Starting point is 00:04:18 Um, and they got a lot of big names on this list. Uh, I think unrealistically big, but, uh, so they got Idris of big names on this list. I think unrealistically big. But so they got Idris Elba, Regé-Jean Page, Daniel Kaluuya. Okay. Michael B. Jordan. Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 00:04:36 John Boyega. Mm-hmm. Cillian Murphy. Mm-hmm. Tom Holland. Chris Hemsworth Michael Fassbender and Tom Hardy
Starting point is 00:04:51 so these so my feedback is that Bond fans need to take a look at themselves in the mirror take a look at past castings of James Bond and understand that you don't just go out and get the biggest actor,
Starting point is 00:05:08 like the most successful actor, even the top 10, like most successful actors. The only name on that list that seems realistic to me is the dude from Bridgerton. Otherwise everybody else feels like they're like, they wouldn't do it. I don't think.
Starting point is 00:05:30 Daniel Kaluuya, I feel, is an interesting prospect, but I don't think he'd do it. Yeah, he just won the Oscar. He's going to win the Oscar and then go get cast as James Bond, like somebody who just says some lines. It's beneath him? Yeah, yeah. I think it's beneath everyone on this list, with the possible exception tom holland who doesn't make any sense for the role and rejean page someone was like yo i want 007 not 0057
Starting point is 00:05:54 wow wow wow wow um but yeah i don't know cool the i just like the way this graphic is it's like black guys versus white guys yeah i did not make that uh decision to list the names no no i mean this is the graphic that's been going around and many people were like listener huh yeah i think jabari uh jabari ali davis was uh tweeting tweeting something like I think he tweeted something about it being like these guys versus these guys cool what's the discourse about again who wins in a fight
Starting point is 00:06:33 right but yeah I just find someone it's like one of those things like someone out of nowhere is gonna make the best James Bond right that's what that's what it was. Daniel Craig had one really good action movie that he starred in under his belt layer cake. And like,
Starting point is 00:06:52 he was good and, you know, supporting roles and some other things, but it's not like he was massive at the time that he was cast. And it was like a big, big step up. It was a big come up for him and then he like started kind of uh expanding into more prestige uh movies but the thing with
Starting point is 00:07:13 like michael b jordan he's not you know what we're gonna make him speak with an english accent right i think that's like that's too much of a stretch what if bond isn't british this time like no i mean no i like then he's fucking jack of a stretch. What if Bond isn't British this time? Like, no, I mean, no, then he's fucking Jack Ryan. Like, Michael B. Jordan already played Jack Ryan and nobody watched it.
Starting point is 00:07:31 Exactly. Just keep it, keep it a fancy and Euro. Yeah. Um, but I just, I don't know. I,
Starting point is 00:07:39 it's hard for me to decide, you know, as I gang, let us know, like I suggest someone was a real up and comer. Someone's really coming out of the shadows with it. Because I think that would really be the most... They don't come with baggage
Starting point is 00:07:49 or perceptions of who this performer should be or how they are. And I think that's what they need is someone who's new enough for it to just be a clean slate. Like, if they got their pick... Like, if they could just pick anybody... Like, Idris elba is the best
Starting point is 00:08:05 person on this list i think because he just has the right like energy i feel like but he he's they fucked up they should have like given it to him three movies ago yeah or just completely change the whole thing cast a woman cast someone non-binary do just do something different like i don't i'm not attached to james bond enough to be like man he better look like timothy dalton right like i don't give a shit he just needs to be a smooth i want to see somebody fuck shit up and be cool with it and drive a bmw yeah uh figment is trending there's apparently a huge line for people wanting to get their hands on a limited a dish popcorn bucket that's designed after the character figment yeah it's at epcot
Starting point is 00:08:52 there's like a festival going down at epcot the disney collectors are i don't know i'm waiting in a seven hour fucking line for a plastic thing that holds popcorn in it and i get you know there's all kinds of collecting culture but they're just as the pandemic rages on there's just something that makes this seem so empty but i get it maybe for these people this is the only way they can they feel alive waiting in line to get their hands on a piece of injection molded plastic right they go to epcot which sure you know that's that that i understand people go to epcot to feel alive you know there's something about that place uh it's go to epcot to wait in line not to do any of the things you go to epcot for but to get so figment is apparently a mascot of the imagination pavilion
Starting point is 00:09:47 at the epcot theme park yeah so it's like an inside joke you're waiting seven hours for an inside joke uh that or or something that's canonical you know to the epcot canon canon yeah so cool uh but hey i'm not here touck you're yum you know no not at all i think there's just something really bizarre right when we're like in the midst of being like where do people get tests i drive around the city and i see huge lines at testing places because many people suspect they're ill or you know have had close contact and want to verify and then it's just like we got lines for this. We also have lines for people,
Starting point is 00:10:26 people waiting for a plastic popcorn bucket. That's the, it's the same length of a, someone working a full eight hour shift. Almost. Those tests are also limited edition. Uh, unfortunately because of,
Starting point is 00:10:38 uh, yeah, no one's talking about that. Although Jackie and her picture look like she was doing a money phone. I know that. Yeah. This week's guest, uh, johnson was doing money phone with uh at home coveted there's some really uh great work by uh this week's guests in there in the pictures yeah we we'd be remiss to not point out Mr. Wilbur. We love your,
Starting point is 00:11:05 your conspiracy theory. I love you. Miles theme wall. Yeah. My wife loved it so much. She went and took the kids and stayed at her mom's house for a little while. So it's good though. Good joke,
Starting point is 00:11:19 man. Brittany is trending. Uh, I think the backlash wants to begin the mainstream media wants the backlash to begin on the free britney shit yeah um so they had jamie lynn on good morning america uh and they were like so why did you like why were you part of you know the familial institution that you know basically imprisoned britney um and she said that her relationship with britney was very chaotic britney uh you know responded with a nicely worded notes app rebuttal yeah and also said her little sister uh has had everything
Starting point is 00:12:01 handed to her yeah um i'm being like I can't believe you stoop so low to make up a story that I pulled a knife on you in front of the kids. Like, for real? Yeah. That's where we're at in this evolution of our fucking sisterhood? But, yeah, I mean, I think I don't even know. Like, at the end of the day,
Starting point is 00:12:20 I'm like, I honestly don't want to, I don't want more stories about, like the the tumult that britney spears is having to experience but i guess it's get it has such a tension that we already saw like people got mad at her for posting like a nude pic on instagram that she was like using emoji to like cover up her body and we were even referencing like that's the point she gets to do what she wants it's not hurting anybody but you know britney is sort of like i see you trying to get a book deal but you don't have anyone fooled um so i can imagine this
Starting point is 00:12:51 is gonna keep going i mean the mainstream media's natural instinct is to shame and be toxic and toxic oh bonus word but yeah and just be like fight fight fight you know yeah but like the very thing that they were exposed as in the 90s people were like gosh can you believe like that was so recent and then she gets freed up and they're like look at her flaunting it out there on instagram she's a mother it's like and yeah but it's like we were similar to what we were talking about with covid and havana syndrome like you can give them the answer you can give the mainstream media the answer but when when there is an answer to the question that everybody's asking it's not good news for them like they they want to just keep kind of obscuring that shit. And this story has legs.
Starting point is 00:13:45 Yeah. So they're going to keep running it. All right. Let's take a quick break. We'll be right back. I'm Jess Casavetto, executive producer of the hit Netflix documentary series, Dancing for the Devil,
Starting point is 00:14:01 the 7M TikTok cult. And I'm Clea Gray, former member of 7M Films and Shekinah Church. And we're the host, the 7M TikTok cult. Together, we'll be diving even deeper into the unbelievable stories behind 7M Films and LA-based Shekinah Church, an alleged cult that has impacted members for over two decades. Jessica and I will delve into the hidden truths between high control groups and interview dancers, church members, and others whose lives and careers have been impacted, just like mine. Through powerful, in-depth interviews with former members and new,
Starting point is 00:14:33 chilling firsthand accounts, the series will illuminate untold and extremely necessary perspectives. Forgive Me For I Have Followed will be more than an exploration. Hey, I'm Gianna Pradente. And I'm Jimei Jackson-Gadsden. We're the hosts of Let's Talk Offline, a new podcast from LinkedIn News and iHeart Podcasts. When you're just starting out in your career, you have a lot of questions.
Starting point is 00:15:08 Like, how do I speak up when I'm feeling overwhelmed? Or, can I negotiate a higher salary if this is my first real job? Girl, yes. Each week, we answer your unfiltered work questions. Think of us as your work besties you can turn to for advice. And if we don't know the answer, we bring in experts who do, like resume specialist Morgan Santer. The only difference between the person who doesn't get the job and the person who gets the job is usually who applies.
Starting point is 00:15:35 Yeah, I think a lot about that quote. What is it like you miss 100% of the shots you never take? Yeah, rejection is scary, but it's better than you rejecting yourself. Together, we'll share what it really takes to thrive in the early years of your career. Without sacrificing your sanity or sleep. Listen to Let's Talk Offline on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I'm Keri Champion, and this is Season 4 of Naked Sports, where we live at the intersection of sports and culture. Up first, I explore the making of a rivalry, Kaitlyn Clark versus Angel Reese. I know I'll go down in history. People are talking about women's basketball just because of one single game. Every great player needs a foil. I ain't really near them. Why is that? I just come here to play basketball every single day, and that's what I focus on.
Starting point is 00:16:22 From college to the pros, Clark and Reese have changed the way we consume women's sports. Angel Reese is a joy to watch. She is unapologetically black. I love her. What exactly ignited this fire? Why has it been so good for the game? And can the fanfare surrounding these two
Starting point is 00:16:39 supernovas be sustained? This game is only going to get better because the talent is getting better. This new season will cover all things sports and culture. Listen to Naked Sports on the Black Effect Podcast Network, iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. The Black Effect Podcast Network
Starting point is 00:16:57 is sponsored by Diet Coke. I've been thinking about you. I want you back in my life. It's too late for that. I have a proposal for you. Come want you back in my life. It's too late for that. I have a proposal for you. Come up here and document my project. All you need to do is record everything like you always do. One session. 24 hours.
Starting point is 00:17:16 BPM 110. 120. She's terrified. Should we wake her up? Absolutely not. What was that? You didn't figure it out? I think I need to hear you say it. That was live audio of a woman's nightmare. This machine is approved and everything?
Starting point is 00:17:35 You're allowed to be doing this? We passed the review board a year ago. We're not hurting people. There's nothing dangerous about what you're doing. They're just dreams. Dream Sequence is a new horror thriller from Blumhouse Television, iHeartRadio, and Realm. Listen to Dream Sequence on the iHeartRadio app,
Starting point is 00:17:54 Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. And we're back. And hashtag we want voting rights is trending seems pretty straightforward pretty self-explanatory yeah i mean you know chuck schumer said they'll they'll take a vote up on on uh in the senate on tuesday i don't know man you got the you got the mansion cinema crew who are like we don't want to exacerbate the division by allowing people to determine the makeup of their government through a vote yeah today's episode we were recording and you're talking about how you know biden was talking big game about how he was going to like go in speak to the senate get them to like understand the urgency of the situation and
Starting point is 00:18:43 like senate democrats like people were acting like there might be a uh result and you were pointing out that was ridiculous that there would be any movement and by the time you were done speaking that sentence uh cinema had like given a speech being like i under no circumstances will ever mess with the filibuster because yeah yeah there's nothing it's a i mean it's such a it's so critical and we truly are ceding everything to these people i mean and you know now people are you know talking about how the filibuster has no constitutional basis yeah which is true and like republicans giving like presentations on why filibuster good uh it's just it's so fucked up uh and i just i feel bad for like arizonans who thought that she would do any it was worth a shit because i don't think
Starting point is 00:19:33 she's had a town hall since she was elected um yet she continues to insist i am listening to the will of the people it's like you haven't even had a moment to listen so a handful of people who have taken fly uh private flights with me right exactly who's saying it's not gonna get that bad for you though you know it's not gonna be that bad for us yeah yeah in your ear though um did you see that the republicans are basically ending the debate yeah yeah i mean no more the that doesn't work so well for dear leader like the debates don't work so well for him even though they're like you know ridiculous and like carnival barker bullshit at least they uh are an unmediated or like a chance a thing that he can't just like
Starting point is 00:20:17 get out there and fully fucking spin and completely lie uh yeah and they're they're not going to be having that anymore you know get rid do whatever it's they're doing everything they can it's like don't get to give people a venue where they can see a side by side and decide that's all kinds of fucked up uh but yeah i don't know i mean i i know there's like some reason behind it, but I don't give a shit. It's if we can't vote like, yeah, what does a fucking debate matter? Yeah. I feel like we're on fucking rails at this point towards something really, really bad happening. And Jack, don't look down.
Starting point is 00:20:56 We're not even on the rails anymore. Oh, my God. What happened to the rails? It's the momentum from post-World War II America. And it's just somehow taking us deeper into the desert yeah uh pete davidson is trending uh because he's just always trending uh right now it is because there's a leaked verse from a kanye song that talks about kicking his ass which is fucking so sad oh my god do you did you hear it do we can we hear it or it's just news a
Starting point is 00:21:29 news item i think it's just a news item uh yeah but he was like i think the the rhyme was i survived that crash so i could kick pete davidson's ass or something oh boy's see. Take a shot at Pete Davidson, a new song. Oh, you want to hear it? Yeah, let's do it. For commentary purposes only. I mean, are we sure that isn't just like a troll made that? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:22:10 That feels like the dumbest. Yeah. That's pretty bad for even Kanye. He's had some pretty, I mean, he's hit the whole spectrum of great rhymes to ones you're like, huh? Yeah. But I mean, considering the state he's in
Starting point is 00:22:26 and, like, it seems like he's really, he's doing whatever to try and win Kim back or be near her. It's just very odd. And, again, we're looking at somebody who's just kind of losing themselves right before our eyes. Joe Rogan is trending
Starting point is 00:22:42 because 270 medical experts signed a statement basically telling spotify de-platform him so like that is saying he is spreading incredibly dangerous misinformation yeah just mainstreaming you know he's mainstreaming the the mass distribution of misinformation yeah and yeah it's i yeah agreed uh and there's even a clip where he had a guest on this guy josh is wild um from abc i believe in australia australia and they just started you know joe rogan is insisting that the vaccination getting vaccinated is going to increase the risk for you know uh adolescent boys for myocarditis right and this guy josh is like nah dude no that's not true it doesn't he's like in fact your your risk for
Starting point is 00:23:33 myocarditis is far greater if you if you're unvaccinated and get covid i mean that's a that's a huge thing that anti-vaxxers love to ignore is that the thing that like there are like these slightly elevated risks in like a very few areas uh from the vaccine but they are dwarfed in comparison to the dangers that are caused by catching covid the dangers caused by being unvaccinated. And even in this case, the dangers of the very thing you're claiming is an increased danger. Like it's actually more than increased danger if you catch COVID. It's an interesting moment too, because, you know, Joe Rogan himself posted this video clip of this moment. And he was said like, if anyone's going to make me look dumb, I'm glad it's this guy because I love him and he's awesome.
Starting point is 00:24:31 And so in his tweet, he's almost conceding that he's like, you know, we had a back and forth. And in fact, my guest was correct because as they go back and forth arguing about, well, what myocarditis and and teenagers, you can see Joe Rogan very quickly begin to like move the goalposts to not to not actually concede that what he's reading is real. And I'll just play you this clip where they're going back and forth about myocarditis and they finally be like, well, let's pull it up. Let's pull it up.
Starting point is 00:24:52 And this is Joe Rogan reading the article. Myocarditis is more common after COVID-19 infection than vaccination. But is this with children? Yeah. We're talking about young people. Men and boys aged under 30 after this is what it says here. With children is the issue. Well, no, we were talking about 15-year-olds.
Starting point is 00:25:11 No, we're talking about young children. Male child. 12 to 17. 12 to 17, more like the mild carditis with three months of catching COVID at a rate of 450 cases per million infection. This concludes with 67 cases of mild carditis per million at the same time following their second dose of Pfizer. Yeah, so you're about eight times likelier to get myocarditis from getting COVID than from getting the vaccine. That's interesting. That is not what I've read before, but also it's like
Starting point is 00:25:39 even when we're reading these things, it's like, what are we getting this from? There it is. Wow. Family. Just for, you want to, like, just, you know, this is the thing. He's not consistent with it, so it doesn't matter. Well, you took an L right there. Just accept
Starting point is 00:25:58 it. But he has to argue. But where are we getting this from, Miles? What is this, from science? Yeah. Okay. With the bears research? Like, way to, again, and then he posted an article from miles where what is this from science yeah okay and there's research like oh wait again and then he posted an article he's like actually the reason why i said it was because of this guardian article and okay that's fine you can explain why you you know misunderstood what was happening but the point stands that your guest josh zeps was correct anyway a little glimpse into that world and why you have medical experts being like, you
Starting point is 00:26:26 can't just have this guy saying this stuff, especially to, you know, under the like sort of illusion that he is being really thorough in his, you know, research. Because for all that talk, this guy just read an article like in real time that completely destroyed his like whatever he thought was happening and then was like well this is about this is actually about something else it's like no we started this conversation talking about teenagers yeah but and even then so whatever it's it must be exhausting to be a guest and say uh no i don't i actually don't agree with that but have you ever tried dmt like that yeah yeah i think i did dmt before joe rogan so why don't agree with that but have you ever tried dmt like that yeah yeah i think i did dmt
Starting point is 00:27:05 before joe rogan so why don't you talk to me joe rogan you know what i mean you ever take your pants off and jump into a dumpster because you thought you really make some i've tried the real stuff man you don't seem like you you've really done it yeah um anyways he's very strong dude this thread after joe rogan's like that video is cringy but it's what happens when you stumble in a long form podcast when you didn't know a subject was going to come up and you wing it right yeah you're the host dude and again if you if you know you're winging it then concede that right be like oh you know what man i'm gonna have to look into this more my issue is not that you were wrong about a thing heading into somebody proving you
Starting point is 00:27:45 wrong my my issue is that you changed you you moved the goalposts and said ah but this where are you getting your facts from huh do your own research like right yeah it's it is the whole it's the whole thing what you just did there that's the whole reason people are dying and i think too like he goes on to be like you know i honestly do my best to get things correct then you you have to actually be able to concede that even in your best efforts you get things wrong and you have to be very willing to accept that but unless you're you know but your ego is so fucking gigantic that you couldn't even let this guy say something that was true. And you're like, well, it's this other thing. Kick your ass, dude. He'd kick your ass so hard, man.
Starting point is 00:28:28 He knows mixed martial arts. Dude, I'll get you in a fucking standing arm bar, dude. You want to get Kimura'd right now, fool? Do you think he could reach all the way around your neck? Like, I feel, well, I definitely don't think he'd reach up to your neck. He's 5'7", right? Yeah, he's a tight man. Bro, my thighs?
Starting point is 00:28:45 I'm sorry, bro. You're in my He's, he's my thighs. Yeah. I'm sorry, bro. You're in my guard. Yeah. You're in my world. Yeah. And I'm not even in the Jits mob anymore.
Starting point is 00:28:55 Uh, all right. Well, those are some of the things that are trending, uh, on this Friday afternoon. We are back on Tuesday to talk more shit with you guys. Until then, be kind to each other.
Starting point is 00:29:08 Be kind to yourselves. Get the vaccine. Don't do nothing about white supremacy. And we will talk to y'all on Tuesday. Bye. Bye. I'm Jess Casavetto, executive producer of the hit Netflix documentary series Dancing for the Devil, the 7M TikTok cult. And I'm Clea Gray, former member of 7M Films and Shekinah Church.
