And this is season two of the War on Drugs podcast.
Sir, last year a lot of the problems of the drug war this year, a lot of the biggest names
in music and sports. This is kind of star-studded a little bit, man. We met them at their homes,
we met them at their recording studios. Stories matter and it brings a face to them. It makes
it real. It really does. It makes it real. It really We are in store for what will likely be two great matchups with the Knicks and Pacers in the Eastern Conference and the Thunder taking on the T Wolves out in the West.
We'll get into the matchups and potential X-Factors to each series with Ihearts Travon Edwards on today's episode on Miles Gray.
And I'm Jabari Davis Sanford Jack. And this is Miles and Jabari!
Got mad boosties. Yeah, yeah, it's D'Javari today.
Yes, yes, yes! Vincent Hewer, the Southampton NBA champions. Over the double team.
Oh!
Night-night.
Yannis with the take.
Oh, look out.
No, show time.
What you got, Yannis?
A host of I Heart's Goat, greatest of their era,
NBA podcast alongside Seth Curry, Trey Edwards.
Thank you for joining us on Miles andibrai Got Mad Boosties.
Thanks for having me, fellas.
Yeah, man.
How are you feeling just so far?
The postseason, how have you been liking the action
up to this point now that we're at the conference finals?
I mean, it's been good.
I haven't got a chance.
I mean, I've been watching, but I
was in the process of moving.
Ironically, I moved from New York to Indianapolis.
So, wow.
Okay.
It's like kind of crazy.
Yeah.
I mean that there will be facing off, you know, tomorrow, but, um, yeah, it's, it's,
it's good series.
I mean, the energy is there in both cities and you know, Minnesota and
OKC should be a good one as well.
Uh, so I, I know I'm just really excited to see all four of these teams square off.
And it said like the first
time in 25 years that conference finals has been especially on the West Coast outside
of California and Texas.
So it's interesting stat.
Who was, I mean, did you have a team going into the postseason?
I let the listeners pick before the season and they chose Orlando Magic.
So I rolled with them this season.
Okay.
I'm not sure we'll continue that, but I'm down.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I'm not tripping.
Yeah, yeah.
Okay, so you really did the OB topping.
You just said, I'm leaving New York
and I'm going to Indianapolis.
This is me now.
Yeah, I mean, it wasn't my choice.
That's where my job is.
For sure, for sure.
It is one of those situations.
But Indie is really calm, man.
I like it.
It's super chill.
It seems like a good time.
And all the Pacers fans I know are good people.
So I'm not mad, although look, as a Laker fan
and Celtics hater, I've put all my emotional investment
into the Knicks and that's been paying off.
So thank you.
Thank you to the New York Knickerbockers.
So yeah, this is gonna be the seventh straight new champion now, just with these four teams
that are left.
Man, what happened to the good old days?
You know, we were at the top of the pile all the time.
Absolutely.
It's actually good moves, man.
It just also just states and shows how difficult it is to go back to back.
Yeah, seriously.
You know what I mean?
With the new CBA and all those things things like you really have to narrow in and make
the right choices, man, when you, you know, when you're trying to build a team.
Totally. And there's going to be some, you know, a lot of people getting moved this
June, man, because of, you know, a lot of teams are trying to stay under the luxury
tax or trying to dump certain contracts.
Like, I don't see Boston being the same.
I don't see Phoenix being the same.
I don't see, you know, Houston being the same. I don't see Phoenix being the same. I don't see, you know,
Houston being the same. Right. The list goes on. Yeah.
I'm like excited though too, like especially cause the dynasty era was just sort of
like, okay, great. And Duncan's going to get another ring. Okay.
If I'm the Lakers get it like whatever then now I'm like, okay,
Shay might get Shay might get their ring this year. And it could be Jalen Brunson.
It could be Tyrese.
I'm like all, now I'm like just in a way I'm like,
I'm glad one of y'all is gonna get your ring this year.
And I feel like this is a great moment,
especially for this younger crop of players
that are gonna take over.
New fan bases winning create annoying fan bases.
You know what I mean?
Like I remember being around the Warriors,
my friend Marcus Williams was just a point guard for the Warriors at one time and they were really
bad.
They were giving away tickets at this point, but the Oracle was still popping.
This is after the We Believe years and then they drafted Steph the following year and
they still weren't great.
And then when they won that first one, then it just, it just, you know, it got very arrogant. Oh yeah. And then, and then now they're,
they're one of the top five and the one fan bases, but I like it, man.
I think it comes with the territory is earned for having down years.
You have a ton of down years. So if the Knicks win it, I,
I don't think that city's going to exist.
That's exactly where I was going to go with it.
Like we know we know Nick's fans and Nick's fans, but of the four that are out there,
which one goes the craziest if they win this year?
Nick's easy. Yeah.
Yeah. By far.
Look what they're doing in just regular playoff series.
Yeah, exactly. After a win.
Not even like winning a series.
They're like, yeah, it's amazing but it's been a 50 year gap.
So like they can accomplish that,
which is kind of weird and funny.
Like it'll be a storybook.
I leave New York and then they actually win.
Not saying that I was the person to make them bad,
but you know, I have been there when they actually acquired
and made the playoffs.
Like they got back to the playoffs while I was there
So I'll take credit for that. Yeah. Yeah, you should you should you should
Betting favor right now. Who's the betting favorite going up the four teams?
thunder
Minus 180 nicks are plus 475
Then you come to wolves at plus 650 followed by the Pacers at plus 700.
Well, Nick's Pacers kicks off Wednesday night at MSG.
They were the two and one against the Pacers during the season.
I mean, this is this is going to be something I mean, they they're they they can score. This is going to be high scoring affairs.
Trey, where like where are you at when you look at these teams and what we expect from the stars?
Who needs to step up? Adjustments, etc. What do you kind of how are you using the viewing this matchup?
I think it's fair game, man. There's always expectations, but I'm always paying attention
to the X Factor, right? Who's going to step in and make shots and similar to last year's finals PJ Washington couldn't make a shot save his life and
You know the series before he couldn't miss
So, you know those things decide man to make or miss league and you have a good game or you have a bad game
to decide so I see the guys like Dante DiVincenzo and Nicholas Alexander Walker and
you know the Isaiah Jones of
the world and the Jalen Williams and those guys stepping in and doing big you
know I mean the Jalen McDaniels having them type of games to just go out and do
the thing for them. OG Abner Novia and you know Bridges you know like just
different guys that are third
fourth option that aren't really heavily relied on the office of scoring it to actually win
them a game and possibly win a series.
Whenever it comes to playoff ball, like, you know, sometimes people agree, but I've been
looked at sideways with this, but for the most part, you know, outside of a stinker,
you know, where you're going to get from the, you know, from the stars.
I do think that a series like, you know, beyond, you know, just individual games, but I think a series changes.
Based on that support and cast of those two supporting cast in the Eastern
conference, which, which do you feel more comfortable with?
Um, I don't know.
I mean, the popular pick obviously is the Knicks, man.
They have a little bit more, more likable.
A lot of bandwagon fans have popped up.
I think the paceaces deep. Yeah, they're deep dude, and I think a lot of people are just
Not really paying them no mind. They're really good team. They're well coached. We're a discipline and them are you got math around you got
You know, just certain guys just come in. You know, I mean like this come in and just be effective man
They're tough. They're scrappy. So I think it's gonna be a real physical series. I like the Pacers. Sorry
We got a seven gamer out of them last season I'd be happy with another one. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah for real for real
But yeah, the Knicks man just dope
I was just saying this about like with the LA New York baseball like World Series
How like it kind of felt like there was like a hip- hop rivalry going on because we had Cube come out and then they
have Fat Joe come out and do a real tired ass performance.
But now you realize that the team that really embodies hip hop in New York is actually the
Knicks. You know what I mean? And like I've just that that clip of Ray Kwan and Ghostface
rapping at Madison Square Garden. I was like, I was like
levitating. It's like a hip hop fan who like loves that golden era of like New York rap and just
loving like what the Knicks represent for the NBA. I was like, yeah, yeah, this is it right here.
I expected you to come in with your WU York jersey on today.
Unfortunately, that was a casualty of the fire.
So as soon as I said it out loud I'm like nope. You're like none of those jerseys exist anymore. Thanks for that Jabari. Mitchell and Nest, if you'd like to replenish my Jersey stock hit me up.
Please feel free. As a Jersey lover who lost everything you know I would appreciate it.
Alright well let's take a break. We'll come back. Let's head out West to talk wolves
in Oklahoma City right after this.

I'll correct my kids now and then where they'll say
when cave people were here. And I'll'll say it seems like the Ice Age people that were
here didn't have a real affinity for caves. So join me starting Tuesday May 6th
where we'll delve into stories of the West and come to understand how it helps
inform the ways in which we experience the region today. Listen to the American

I know a lot of cops and they get asked all the time, have you ever had to shoot your

Sometimes the answer is yes, but there's a company dedicated to a future where the answer
will always be no. Across the country cops called this Taser the revolution.
But not everyone was convinced it was that simple. Cops believed everything
that Taser told them. From Lava for Good and the team that brought you Bone Valley
comes a story about what happened when a multi-billion dollar company dedicated itself to one visionary
mission. This is Absolute Season One, Taser Incorporated.

Yes sir, we are back.
In a big way.
In a very big way.
Real people, real perspectives.
This is kind of star-studded a little bit, man.
We got Ricky Williams, NFL player, Heisman Trophy winner.
It's just a compassionate choice to allow players all reasonable means to care for themselves.
Music stars Marcus King, John Osborne from Brothers Osborne.
We have this misunderstanding of what this quote unquote
drug thing is.
Benny the Butcher.
Brent Smith from Shinedown.
Got B-Real from Cybers Hill.
NHL enforcer Riley Cote.
Marine Corvette, MMA fighter Liz Karamouche.
What we're doing now isn't working
and we need to change things.

In 2020, a group of young women in a tidy suburb of New York City
found themselves in an AI fueled nightmare. Someone was posting photos. It was just me naked. Well, not me, but me with someone else's body parts
on my body parts that looked exactly like my own.
I wanted to throw up.
I wanted to scream.
It happened in Levittown, New York.
But reporting the series took us through
the darkest corners of the internet
and to the front lines of a global battle
against deep fake pornography.
This should be illegal, but what is this?
This is a story about a technology that's moving faster than the law and about vigilantes

And we're back. Western Conference kicking off.
Actually, as we record, moments from now,
in Oklahoma City.
Man, this is, I think, again,
I have a Western Conference bias as a fan
who lives on the West Coast
and mostly is watching Western Conference basketball.
This one is very, very exciting to me,
especially just given how the momentum both teams
are bringing into this series. During the regular season, they split the four games
they played against each other. So this is this this feels very very very close
and I mean look again they're both on the precipice of some somewhat history. I
mean the Thunder they haven't been to the finals in 13 years. Minnesota has
never been to the finals. So there's definitely added benefit.
I just saw an old interview with Shay Gilder's Alexander.
Like this was like maybe four, three years ago
when he just signed that five year extension
and they were like 124 games that season.
And he's like, no, I really believe we're about to win.
Like I'm not tripping about this extension.
Like this is, you're gonna see, you're gonna see.
And you're like, wow, okay.
He knew, he knew and he's delivering now.
It doesn't hurt when Presti hits on just about all those picks, like
each year they weren't necessarily the high.
Oh, no.
Not into that, man.
Until they finished the job, I'm not going to, I'm not going to it, man.
That's like, that's like bragging about DS sneakers that you have more
I don't care about a seventh grader in 2040 like
No, what I'm not saying I'm stacking them up
but I'm saying like in terms of teams with a draft because because what look because while as a Lakers fan as
An unabashed Lakers fan. I would love to have had some of that death
I would love to have had some of those death I would love to have had some of those
Trade 2020 ring in for that. No, no, I would not. So what are we doing here, man?
Right now don't worry about the future mom they'll win a title
It doesn't matter. Don't matter. We're doing that. Nico Harrison is like I'm not thinking about now
I'm thinking about four to eight years from now where we will not be winning.
It's now, man.
Now, that's not fair, bro.
This also, I didn't realize Nikhil Alexander Walker and Shay Gilder's Alexander were cousins.
Cousins, yeah.
I, okay.
Yeah, that just hit me because I just saw that interview.
Cool storyline, but y'all.
Yeah, I mean, it's just, it's interesting.
Just hope, man.
We don't need to drag out. I just saw that interview. Cool storyline, but y'all. Yeah, I mean, it's interesting. Just hope, man.
We don't need to drag out.
I look at it in this situation of like,
is this, is Ant going to shoot well,
is Shay going to shoot well?
Right.
Are they going to put on a show for us,
or is it going to be some trash talk,
is it going to be some physicality,
is the game going to be close?
Come on, that's it.
I'm already involved with it.
Who has the best franchise fans?
You know what I mean like come on, man
I really want to see both teams play hard so disdain it so distilling it down to its essence the sauce
What now you're looking at these two teams you just saw okay see come off as full seven games against the Nuggets
Obviously everyone's like man. I mean the defense but Minnesota how are they going to contend with OKC's defense?
And then like, how is Shay going to, this is probably one of the more intense defenses
Shay's faced.
How do you see, what's your, how you seeing it all shape out there?
I mean, I ain't going to make no predictions.
I think it's just all about shots made, man.
Okay, make a prediction though.
Make a prediction, Trey.
I mean, I think OK think, okay, she's really good.
Yeah.
But I would like to see the Minnesota Timberwolves for Ant because I just know what Ant's more just someone, a selling point for me, just entertaining.
I think Shea's very good.
And I think he's in it.
He's a, he's my favorite basketball player right now.
But from an entertainment standpoint, I want to see what Ant would do in the finals.
Like, I feel like Shay's a better team captain, a very team guy to get everybody
involved and they're going to win as a team.
Yeah.
And the Edwards was going to, it was Ant time.
Yeah.
It was a crazy third.
It was a crazy fourth.
Right.
The back against the wall.
Did he actually show up or did he just shrink in this moment?
Like, I want to be able to critique him at the biggest stage and not like,
oh, well, like last year was like, well, that was his year to win it all.
Right. But he fell short.
Yeah. And I talk about, you know, more than bro.
I we only talk about the people who make it to the get the plan to right right right?
But now it excuse to say oh he needs oh
He needs this and that like he shot terrible for a while and Julius Randall was saving him right was so you know
I mean he can't have them games, but also okay, so he's gonna be ready and they're gonna be in like crazy
They don't shoot the ball like crazy. They're gonna be all over.'m still waiting on Chet Holmgren to play like have a great game. Yeah, he ain't had yet
So he's been a pedestrian. It's just a lot for sure
I mean, yeah, that's thinking about this just matchup to just looking at the like Anthony Caruso of it all I'm
Really trying to Alex Chris? I'm sorry. I was talking about too many ants.
Just the Alex Caruso of it all,
watching those adjustments, like in game seven,
when I'm like, did this guy,
why is he bodying Yoki stuff like this?
Like he is coming at him with just the tenacity.
He was hacking down there.
Oh, he was.
Oh yeah.
I mean, there's a thing, right?
There's a thing that fans love to do this this thing of like
Oh, you know like he could defend anybody like you know, like not if he could defend here
He definitely was a there's an advantage that you have a smaller defender below get to grab you get to slap at the guy
You get to do those things that normally if it's easily matched up and there's a bigger guy bigger guy
You're not gonna be able to do your follow it out.
And in a particular situation, you got to beat that guy up.
But he did do a good job.
It was wild just to see how they started reading each other, though,
to like how Yokoch could be like, you think I'm about to just
just hit somebody like driving into the paint and then you'd see Caruso adjusting.
He's like, no, all right, caught you there.
I'm going the other way now.
I just,
the chess match of it was really fun to watch because at that point I'm like,
we're dealing like the,
the basketball IQs like that are in on display in those moments were really,
really as a neutral, I was like, this is really fun to watch. Uh,
and also just my affinity for AC obviously I'm just, you know,
I like to see him do well.
To that point,
what do you think about the physicality that they've permitted this postseason?
I mean, it feels like in the second half of the regular season, they started letting him
more and then ramped it up.
Do you feel like it's been a bit of an equalizer?
Kind of, kind of.
I mean, I think it's games, man.
It's just kind of like, they're forcing it, man.
I don't know if it kind of resulted in the injury of Aaron Gordon and whatnot, but it's
just, you know, how, it's been thirsty, man.
I think, I think we're going to drag this out.
They're trying to fit all these games all in and once, as most people can't keep up,
we got so much other stuff going on outside our lives, but I don't know.
It's been the best playoff series I've seen in a while, probably since my childhood.
So I'm excited about all of it. And then also being of age and being socially active online,
knowing people that are possibly rooting for these, you know, these teams, it just makes
it even more great to watch.
Yeah, right. Especially in the pre social media days, there's like, I don't even I don't
know one fan of this team because of where I live. Whose bench are you more excited for?
Indy, Indy got a good bench. Indy got a good bench in Minnesota. Got a good bench.
I think that are like getting that shit to go like how you want it to go.
You know what I mean? Like fun neck and like really contribute and have guys
break out. Like that's, that's the ones, you know what I mean? But right.
We'll see. We'll see. everything sounds good on paper right and today I have to
match up that's what's after the regular season matchups out is zero zero check
ball right all right I know you say you didn't want to make any predictions but
I'm gonna ask you either way when it's all said and done after these conference
finals who's what's our finals matchup? Don't hate me.
Minnesota, Indiana.
Oh, hey, I would not hate that at all.
I know, I know the general conversation about, oh, like, you know, are people going to watch look good basketball basketball.
So if those guys are out there hooping, people will watch.
I mean, I feel like Nick's fans will be like, I'm off this suddenly, like no one
in New York is watching, but yeah, there's uh, I mean
I'm it's also just wild to see how even like all the players that move between like New York, Minnesota
Like they're all still in contention to like then worked out for everybody in this postseason
But anyway, I think right now I'm thinking I feel like okc
May just squeak out of there and I'm thinking okay see
Nick's that's for my fan heart
Nothing to do with anything rational. Just that's what just that's what I'm feeling
but however as somebody who Anthony Edwards is my favorite player that does not play on the Lakers and even though he
Did a victory lap around crypto like he owned the place, I wasn't mad at that.
I said, you know what, young man, you do that.
That's part of your myth building.
And I think him part of me though, too, I would love a championship for
Anthony Edwards to really see like, okay, now you've got the ring.
Let's really come into this role that a lot of us see you potentially filling.
And I feel like, yeah, just he just needs that just that statistical thing to happen for him to really unlock it all. But I feel like
it's going to be a wild series either way. Jabari, what about you?
My honor. This is the one where I'm sorry, my head tells me it's going to be Indiana
and OKC, which again, I would watch it and be fine with it. My heart, my heart wants my heart, my heart on I heart wants and give me that.
Give me a seven game series of the Knicks and the Timberwolves and I'm here for a victory
lap.
You would not be taking Anthony Edwards.
I don't think so.
I don't think just because I think you're smart.
I would be mad.
That'd be entertaining.
Yeah.
His biggest storyline would be the trade.
Yeah.
Mm-hmm.
Cat Randall returning back to their home.
Exactly.
No, it made both teams better.
Yeah.
Never knew what they needed.
Yeah.
You just, you just, that's the A-blog.
I mean, it's a lot of X-Nix.
It's a lot of X-Nix in this conference finals
if you wanted to be cheesy.
Yeah. Top and-
Hard and Slim.
Hard and Slim, yeah.
Yeah, they're all there.
They're all there, the gang's all here.
Oh, the Knicks had something.
Greatest of their era.
Yes, sir, go.
But put us on, you know, like,
tell us about the show a little bit,
and kind of like, what's it been like
just covering this with Seth and doing a show about you know
Just these specific eras and the players. Yeah, man. I mean we got tired of
comparing eras
Such a lazy narrative of like oh, yeah, I just could score
250 in the 70s like sure right?
Man, like there's this is not realistic combos. You'd be disrespectful to the greats, the people
that open the doors before you.
They're like, Usain Bolt would have been faster
than Jesse Owens.
And you're like, OK, sure.
And what's your point?
It's a completely different time.
Just in different scenarios, we just
felt like it was good to educate our listeners.
And also just turn the clock back
and sit in the moment of the era that we specifically speak on, you know, I mean like we have an upcoming episode coming out
greatest of
Their era 90 shooting guards and excluding Michael Jordan. It makes it a little different. Yes, you know, I mean obviously
Yes, the answer we know
But we're featuring Dale Curry and Dale Curry gets to tell it from his perspective
so yeah, just being able to reflect on those type of things and and and speak on criteria and one thing that people won't
I won't catch on the first listen is that I
Stopped at a loving every time I didn't play an NBA
I played collegiate and I play a little overseas and in high school. So we start talking about NBA stuff that's where I get off the get out the car and
I let the pros talk so if we got guests you know we had Grant Williams on
previously on the episode and it got to a point where you know we had him on he
won me over he won me over he's such a smart defenders great guy and understood
like he broke down why he defends guys certain ways, you know, how
a game is one for a defender.
Um, and it just was a great breakdown in the criteria of what it takes to be a
defensive player.
And we have some controversial takes about like Rudy Gobert not being one of
the greatest, you know what I mean?
Cause he can't defend on the perimeter.
It does change the outcome of the paint, but it worked in his favor in certain
errors, you know what I mean?
He was born in the right era for him to succeed in those defensive things and now we're watching it
Currently in these these current series and you're not doing so great right from the success
He's received when he was in Utah and things of that nature. So, um, yeah, man, it's just it's really fun
itself, you know, he's great. He feels back the layers of the audience of sharing different stories of what may happen.
And it's really cool, man, you know, like, just being able to reflect and talk about
certain things, you know, I mean, my controversial take was if Harrison came out, I know, I'm
in this era, how much would he be loved?
Right.
I don't know if he's that loved, you know what I mean?
Although he won MVP, you know, like,
his shooting percentage was terrible, you know what I mean?
And he, you know, like, would he be as praised
for being a high-volume shooter?
Right, yeah.
By today's fans, I don't think they would.
I don't think so, you know what I mean?
And now with as many tattoos everybody has too, now.
I think his popularity overshadows his game't think so. You know what I mean? And not with as many tattoos everybody has too now. I think it's popularity overshadows this game more than anything.
You know what I mean?
When you talk about the best shooting guards and he kind of slowly trickles down the ladder
because there's a lot of guys that have consistency.
Was that something you felt about AI when he was in the league or that's something you
kind of came to through doing the show and sort of think really about it? It's like watching Celtic Pride in 2025 and trying to be like, yo, this is a bad movie.
Right, right.
You know what I mean?
Or watching something that just the graphics weren't there.
It's unfair.
It's unfair to like really judge it from what it was in real time because we didn't care
about that.
Michael Jordan shot 17% from the three, you know
I mean in that final somewhere the flu game
Right. It was like we had 38 and shot 52% from the field
So it's like what is our priorities and what we care about doing the game or not?
Are we caring about like and now we'd be like
They want a game but he was six for 25. Oh, you know, yeah, you focus so much on field goal
So right.
And we can abandon that analytics one, the long game.
Yeah. Who's like a player like I'm guessing like your golden era, maybe late 90s, 90s era to like early 2000s.
Yeah. What's yeah.
Was there was there like who's like a player that you were kind of like,
you realize, like, man, I totally slept on this dude.
How did I, you know, like just in doing the show or who's like a player that you were kind of like you realize like man, I totally slept on this dude How did I you know, like just in the show or who's someone that surprised you that you kind of realized you're like
You know what? I did not know no research and I think over time. I really been giving up a lot for Taro Brandon
We talked a lot about Kenny Anderson
We had upcoming episode with Craig Hodgeson my mom and I'll do road
But I mean they they've got they've got their flowers lately. Yeah, yeah for sure
But yeah, I mean just certain guys that we just mentioned, you know, I mean like
You know how good of how strong Joe Dewar's was, you know, I mean like from a personal standpoint. It's different
You know, I mean from like just watching it. You can't really those are the things that only players can tell you right
yeah you know you close your eyes and you're like okay now I'm in the game and
now I'm trying to get past your do Mars and he's he's top he's top throwing him
bottom strong you know right like strong legs where you can't move him yes
garden the six seven Mike I mean six six Michael Jordan etc
yeah Clyde Drexler and all these other guys. And they can guard a six point point guard, you know, cause he's strong
and he moving the guys.
So, you know, those are the things that, you know, you think about the scores
and how good they were, man, it's just, it's just a different thing.
And, you know, Steph was our first, um, guess he broke down the
shooters about like being that's, uh, that's Steph Curry.
Yeah.
Oh, okay.
Yeah.
Okay.
Top lock, top lock garden.
You know what I mean? On the Scotland report, how hard it garden, you know what I mean?
Breaking down the eyes of a shooter and who they respect.
That's that meets the criteria.
You know what I mean?
Kyle Corver was one of the guys that they highly respected.
She wouldn't be like, Oh man, you know what I mean?
Right.
Right.
That's the film that they will watch.
You know what I mean?
And Seth breaking down how much of Jason Terry he watched, you know, I mean right right that's the film that they will watch I mean and Seth breaking down how much of Jason Terry he watched, you know
I mean a certain certain players that you just you just don't ever look at in that aspect because
Maybe they're later in their careers
They're a little banged up, but they mean something to somebody else and they play a huge role in the development of the next year
I'm not gonna lie to you at you'll haven't watched and appreciated
You know about mood part of me feels like a guy like Steph had to have been watching him when he was growing up of the next year. I'm not gonna lie to you. Having watched and appreciated, you know,
Buck Mood, part of me feels like a guy like Steph
had to have been watching him when he was growing up.
That he had to have had some influence on.
Yeah, I mean, they were more into their guys
were Reggie Miller and Steve Nash.
Ah, okay.
You know, they were huge into the 50-40-90 club.
But then their dads kind of like, you know, like I said, they got into a,
like he explained a little bit, um, the episodes that's out about how Kevin
Johnson broke his dad's nose, but then also how his aunties didn't like Reggie
Miller, you know what I mean?
It's like they would get into it.
You know what I mean?
Like, so it's always interesting.
And Dale talks about life before, you know, getting ready.
He didn't know that he would go to the NBA and that he played one game with three point
line in college.
You get what I'm saying?
Yeah.
So like when you really think about those types of things of like, Oh, my point per
game went up because I can shoot the three. I already shot deep long Jews.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
So then I did, now I'm getting three points for these.
Oh, I got a chance.
And then seeing guys that he played against,
they did pretty farewell with against,
going to the NBA, he was like, oh, I got my shot.
Right, right.
And it wasn't a lot of three point shooters.
Three point shooters were basically like kickers.
Yeah, yeah. You know what I mean?
Like, he said, coming off the bench,
we could be able to shoot three threes. That's it.
Five on a good day. Right.
So think about him being allowed to shoot 10. Right. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah. I mean, change that. Yeah. No, that's the beauty of these conversations.
I hope, you know, I mean, he do hurt.
He do Turk a little being born in the wrong era coming out of 2025.
You know what I mean? Like what he do in today's league.
You know, you get to talk about the Roy, you know,
the Rodney Rogers and the Danny Mannings and, you know,
the Ron Harper's giving Ron Harper's flowers.
You know what I mean?
How good of a shooting guard he was before he switched
to being a point guard and being a lockdown defender
with Chicago.
So in LA, but like, that's the beauty of GOAT.
There's so many different topics. there's so many different topics there's so many
different competitions and then there's a part one a part two part three depending on the guest who
gets to defend you know i mean we may have uh James Worthy coming on soon so get a chance to
talk about the 80s and then you know yeah just different things like that so uh man it's been
it's been a fun ride man i think we're we're almost at 20 episodes, so. Amazing.
We're moving.
Well, congrats on the show.
Goats are the greatest of their era.

The American West with Dan Flores is the latest show from the Meat Eater podcast network,
hosted by me, writer and historian Dan Flores and brought to you by Velvet Buck.
This podcast looks at a West available nowhere else.
Each episode, I'll be diving into some
of the lesser known histories of the West.
I'll then be joined in conversation by guests
such as Western historian, Dr. Randall Williams
and bestselling author and meat eater founder,
Stephen Rinella.
I'll correct my kids now and then where they'll say
when cave people were here.
And I'll say, it seems like the ice age people
that were here didn't have a real affinity for caves. So join me starting Tuesday, May 6, where we'll
delve into stories of the West and come to understand how it helps inform the ways in which
we experience the region today. Listen to The American West with Dan Flores on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
I know a lot of cops and they get asked all the time, have you ever had to shoot your gun?
Sometimes the answer is yes, but there's a company dedicated to a future where the answer will always
be no. Across the country cops cops call this Taser the revolution.
But not everyone was convinced it was that simple.
Cops believed everything that Taser told them.
From Lava for Good and the team that brought you Bone Valley comes a story about what happened

In a big way.
In a very big way.
Real people, real perspectives.
This is kind of star-studded a little bit, man.
We got Ricky Williams, NFL player, Heisman Trophy winner.
It's just a compassionate choice to allow players
all reasonable means to care for themselves.
Music stars Marcus King, John Osborne from Brothers Osborne.
We have this misunderstanding of what this quote unquote drug thing is.
Benny the Butcher.
Brent Smith from Shinedown.
We got B-Real from Cypress Hill.
NHL enforcer Riley Cote.
Marine Corvette.
MMA fighter Liz Karamouche.
What we're doing now isn't working and we need to change things.

In 2020, a group of young women in a tidy suburb of New York City
found themselves in an AI-fueled nightmare.
Someone was posting photos.
It was just me naked.
Well, not me, but me with someone else's body parts on my body parts that looked exactly like my own.
I wanted to throw up. I wanted to scream.
It happened in Levittown, New York.
But reporting the series took us through the darkest corners of the internet and to the
front lines of a global battle against deepfake pornography.
This should be illegal, but what is this? This is a story about a technology that's moving faster than the law, and about vigilantes
trying to stem the tide.

And we're back. Trey Edwards, it's been great having you, but now is the time for the fourth quarter rapid fire round of questioning.
We're just going to ask you a question. You react, you respond.
Don't think too much.
Just give your internal, your instinct on it,
which so far you've been pretty good at,
but gotta keep just quick, quick, quick, quick, quick.
And if you go slow, we'll be rude to you, okay?
Because we have to maintain our title.
The fastest question is.
I did this before, so y'all wasn't rude before,
so I'm good.
Yeah, you and he were pretty good.
And you know what?
But we'll see this time.
We'll see this time. I won't overtake it, go ahead. Okay, all right. So I'm guessing. Yeah, you and you were pretty good. You know, we'll see this side. We'll see this
Okay, all right
So I'm guessing you're ready. Yep, Brian start the clock
All right Jabari, you want to go first?
You got it. All right. I got the first question Trey
Someone that knows about ranking and you know goats
Where does Jalen Brunson ascend to
in the greatest Knicks ever conversation?
If the Knicks wind up winning the whole thing.
Two, no three.
Okay, who's the top three then?
Who's the one?
Romano and Clyde Frazier.
Clyde Frazier won, Romano too.
Yeah.
He could win, then Pat Newman four.
But right now.
That's real.
Yeah.
Where's where's Mello in that conversation?
I know it was just bottom 10.
OK, it's like Bernard King.
You know, yeah, right.
It's too. What about LJ?
Play for him.
Huh? LJ Larry Johnson.
He's long.
Where does he fit?
He's low.
His back hurt.
Yeah, his latter day.
You know, yeah, memorable playboy.
Yeah, he did a thing where Charlotte didn't think. memorable playboy. Yeah, he did thing more Charlotte than anything
That's true. And I think this is just like the most memorable thing we were all doing on the court is kids
All right. Well, that sounds like a right answer
Obviously we still have a great deal of respect for what LeBron Steph and Katie continued to do at their age
But it's clear that you know, we've had an official change into the guard. We're the faces of the league
I don't think there is no face to leave But it's clear that we've had an official change into the guard. Who are the faces of the league moving forward?
I don't think there is no face of the league.
Trick question.
I just think that it is however you want it to be.
Whoever you're leaning towards.
I think this league is super talented.
And whoever wants to put the marketing dollars into it.
But I think right now, if Jaylen Merson wins the championship,
people will definitely be the face of the league.
On some weird stuff, which it shouldn't be, but you lean towards the winners, right? Right, right and if it and if the wolves win
You say what instead of the wolves win is it is becoming?
I mean, although he also says he's like man. I'm not trying to be the face
I mean because it just comes with the you know, yeah heavy lies the crowd
I think it's more of the easier answer right everybody wants money, but don't want the thing that comes with the, you know, heavy lies the crowd. I think it's more of the easier answer, right? Everybody wants money,
but don't want the thing that comes with it.
Yeah. Obviously it's a machine.
Monte Ellis came out and bought it and said,
Hey, I just want to hope I don't want to do the other thing.
So if I became all star, I got to do all this.
Then the third, yes, you want to be all star,
but you don't want to do the extra media.
You don't want to have to sneak a deal.
You don't want to do all this other stuff.
Just obligations that take you away from things that happens.
Okay. That was everybody loves money.
So that's true. The answer to a good answer. But everybody loves money, so.
That's true.
The answer to 99 out of 100 questions is money.
Trey, last question, and hopefully your fastest answers.
I'm gonna say a player, you give me your prediction
on where the following player will be next season, okay?
From the top, Giannis.
Top five, it'll be in Milwaukee.
Okay, Zion.
Top 15, he'll be in New Orleans.
Jon Moran.
Top 20, he'll be in Memphis.
Kevin Grant.
Top 10, he'll be in Phoenix until February. Oh
Intriguing and what about Braun?
top 10
He'll be in LA. Mm-hmm. No movement. No, not not now not now, huh? Not okay. Okay
I think Yonis is doing great playing the game and flirting hearing his options, but right he'll stay
He's just trying to put pressure on the front office.
They don't have much to really navigate.
But well, and also they, I mean, if you're Milwaukee, you can do
everything you can to keep no matter what.
There's not a contract for another couple of years to.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Well, those are all the right answers, Trey.
And unfortunately I wasn't able to be rude to you because you're pretty
good at this admittedly.
That's what I do.
Yeah, I know. It turns out, it turns out. Thank you so much're pretty good at this, admittedly. That's what I do. Yeah, I know.
It turns out.
It turns out.
