Starting point is 00:00:31 No, if it was, if it was switched, if it was like two guys that have gay, day sex, but they secretly want to fight each other all the time. You know, that would be my kind of heated rivalry. The attraction and sex part is there. It's the tension about, when are they going to fuck each other up? Yes. Yeah, the tension about
Starting point is 00:00:49 the brutality. Yeah. Bro, what did you say about my fucking jeans dog? Dude, why are you pacing? Is this, are you this a new thing? You stand up for the show? Yeah, well, fucking... Ant right now, man. I'm fucking thinking about this heated rivalry shit, bro.

Starting point is 00:04:13 DirtyEley's Eit guys Yeah It's a production of IHeartRadio It's a podcast where you take a deep dive into America's shared consciousness. Really? Through the day's news. Oh.
Starting point is 00:04:23 What's happening? What's going on here, people? We also have a non-news history version of TDZ dropping each Monday morning called the iconograph, where we do a deep dive into the Zichai's through the lens of a different icon, and we are right in the heart of our fright cons. We have done Dracula. We've done Hannibal Lecter. We've done now ghosts.
Starting point is 00:04:50 Ghosts. Gag, gag, gag, gag, gah, gh, gh, gh, gh, gh, gh, gh, ghosts. And, yeah, we got one more spooky character coming up. It's been a lot of fun. You can check those out. They drop every Monday morning. They have icon in the title. But here today, it is Wednesday, October 21st, 2026.
Starting point is 00:05:10 Big day. It's National Reptile Day. Shout out all the politicians on Capitol Hill. We love you. Reptile people. Shout out to Billy Evans also. Because, spoiler alert, all of a sudden, yeah, once he went. Rep gang.
Starting point is 00:05:26 Yeah, once, like, he went off, like, there's a moment in, you can see everything. Once mom wasn't home. Where, yeah, it flashes forward to two years into her prison term. And I don't. That's not really a lot of the big ones. I will just say. If you want to just skip forward 15 seconds right now. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:46 It cuts to him and he's into guns and reptiles all of a sudden. And it's just like, oh, man, I feel like, I feel like that's good foreshadowing for where things are going. He also gets a little, he also has a minor cold, I feel like. Dude, I think I'm sniffing cocaine, bro. Wait, what? Yeah, come on, baby. Anyways, no, I feel like it's, uh-huh. I feel like we might skip ahead to it later, but you can see everything is a very good, uh,
Starting point is 00:06:16 Newk Austin, Texas movie. I apologize for my awesome. I love Austin, Texas. I'm sorry what they're doing to the place. Yeah, for sure. This is what's collecting there in the outskirts. Yeah, what Austin, Texas does to a motherfucker.
Starting point is 00:06:32 So that's it. National Reptile Day. Let's it. Let's go with that. My name is Jack O'Brien, a.k.a. Hanibal Jackter, aka the Jack knife. Jack O'Call. A.K. The Jack Hammer. because there is a movie called the jackhammer killer
Starting point is 00:06:49 about somebody who kills people with a jack hammer. And truly the climax of the movie is that he is thwarted because the person runs too far away from him to plug in his jackhammer. And so he just can't use his weapon. Do they not run on gas? This one does not. They just plugged in? It's a plug game.
Starting point is 00:07:12 It does not. It goes off 110. Hang on. That doesn't make any sense to me. Also, Jack O. Banturn. Those are my Treehouse of Horror. Spooky, A.K.A.s. And I hope they aren't too scary for you guys.
Starting point is 00:07:27 I'm thrilled to be joined, as always, by my co-host, Mr. Miles Gray. Hey, it's Miles Gray. Yook. It's the Lord of Lancashem, the showgun. Yon. No gun. Okay. You got guns. You're going to have gun problems.
Starting point is 00:07:37 However. Thank you. It's good to see you here today. And I'm not seeing you. I'm talking to the two people I'm talking to today. It's good to see the both of you today. And I'm glad to, and thank you for inviting us into your ears today. Well, yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:49 We won't disappoint you. Oh, my God. That seems. I feel like I will disappoint you, but, um, Miles. Way to set the stage. Yeah. Or at first dates like. So just FYI, a couple things to know about me up front.
Starting point is 00:08:06 I do things a little bit differently around here. Have you dined with us before? Oh, awesome. We're thrilled. October 21st is back to the future day. This is the day Marty McClain. fly goes into the future. Oh shit.
Starting point is 00:08:17 Into the future? Yep. Or into the past? This is back to the future too? So it's back to the future today. Oh, no, no, no, sorry. To the fast. You're right.
Starting point is 00:08:25 Yes. To the. Yeah, yeah. Any time travel. Jack to the future. Jack to the future. Going to go jack in time. We are thrilled to be joined in our third seat by one of our very favorite guests,
Starting point is 00:08:36 an artist, creator of music that's been described as hypnotic power violence. Please welcome back to the show from the Janie. Danger Massacre, it's Janie Danger! Jay! Hey, thanks so much. Hey. I wish I could have thought of something better than Janie Danger Massacre, but I already had danger in the name, and that implies some kind of threat already,
Starting point is 00:09:02 so I don't really know. Danger does a lot of work. It does a lot of work. Danger does a lot of work in this society, for sure. Yeah. In this society, in this economy. Invest in Danger coin. going to the fucking moon.
Starting point is 00:09:16 To the moon. It's actually just myself. Yeah. Janie, what's your P-Dome? What is that? Is that an awesome Texas term? I'm not familiar with you.
Starting point is 00:09:25 That's a Silicon Valley term that's like how are you, how likely do you think it is that AI is going to end humanity? It's called P-Doom. That's what, yeah, it has to do with the, we were talking about it on trends yesterday, that there's this world of people who are like, we're actually kind of the gods. of this world because of we can talk speak about the world in terms
Starting point is 00:09:51 of Bayesian economics and statistics isn't that the girl that testified against Manson Bayesian Jane we're thrilled to have you here we're going to get to know you a little bit better in a moment. Do I get like a challenge coin?
Starting point is 00:10:12 This is like my maybe fifth or sixth time Yeah, we need to get you a jacket. That'd be dope. Do y'all have jackets? No, we don't. I'm just saying, we're the full of you. You pay for jackets? Do you actually not have merch?
Starting point is 00:10:23 We had merch, dude. We're so, we're not good at like that part. You're like Fugazi. You're like, we're all about the product, the, the music, the ethos. We're spread thin. We don't sell merch. That's bad too, unfortunately. Tickets to our shows are only $5 and they're always all ages.
Starting point is 00:10:43 Kind of like that. Yeah. I'd like to say that's what it is. I've been calling y'all the Fugazi of podcast. God, if only we could have a mash-up album with Wu-Tang like Fugazi did. Woo-Gazi, yeah. Yeah, that was great. Yeah, shit's sick.
Starting point is 00:10:58 I don't think they officially made that. But whoever did. No, I know, but I mean, like, to be even a text trumped in. You know what I was thinking? That's a good pull. I remember listening to that. Woo-Gazi's so dope. The other thing I was thinking, like, you know, for people that are, like,
Starting point is 00:11:11 I was talking with one of my home girls and they were talking about how, like, They're like, you know, like, I'm on the brink of becoming woo-woo right now. Like, I don't know what the fuck's going on with me. And I was like, that's a cool. He's just two Wu-TangWs. And if you know, you're woo-woo, yeah, yeah. You know, like, I'm about to subscribe to Brianna Wu's substop. No.
Starting point is 00:11:31 I'd be super woo-woo on everyone. Janie, we're going to get to know you a little bit better in a moment. First of a couple of things we're talking about. Elon Musk has announced a plan to gift SpaceX shares to every child in America and people are covering that as if it's something that will actually happen. So we'll talk about that because they won't. We'll talk about a total hot dog recall. There's another big food recall.
Starting point is 00:11:58 We'll just check in with food recalls. Why so many food recalls? Hey, what's happening? Disney has gotten the memo and have figured out what to do with Star Wars next. And that is they're going to do a version of the Super Bowl where Star Wars cartoons are playing the Super Bowl. And pretty, and almost like any property owned by Disney, it looks like. So like you could even be like Millhouse could be out there getting CTE.
Starting point is 00:12:25 They've done that. So they've done that in the past. They've done regular season games with Simpsons characters, which I'm fine. I see. I see. I think there's like, yeah. This is they're really putting their foot on the Star Wars pedal. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:37 I think there's some, you know, IP that is good when, like when you just like throw some, throw a Homer Simpson skin on the body of, you know, an NFL quarterback. And it's like, wow, look, Homer just threw that touchdown. Damn. I'm like, yeah, man, that's fun. Like, that's what I want. Like, but Star Wars for some reason just feels like they keep fucking up. Like, they're...
Starting point is 00:13:04 Does it look like when they put like a Homer Simpson in Fortnite where... I think it's similar to that. How did that go over? Well, this one is more... They took out Peter Griffin, but Homer's still there. I still have my jigsaw skin. So that's really what matters. They look more like Funko, Popgolfs.
Starting point is 00:13:24 I don't think that's a Disney property yet, but they. It'll be one of the two companies' properties eventually. Yeah. What's the other one? Paramount Skydance, Wonderfiel Discovery. Yeah. Frito A and Disney. Paramount VH1.
Starting point is 00:13:39 Penguin Publishing. Yeah. Harper Collins. The publishing. The history really took over everything weirdly. Yeah. And then we'll talk about you can see everything because it is a hit at the box office, but it's also like popular with the right.
Starting point is 00:13:56 It's popular with the left. We'll look at some of the responses. We'll have a little five second chunk where we'll speak about the movie with spoilers. And so we'll get plenty of warning on that. We'll get plenty more. But first, Janie, we do like to ask our guest, what is something from your story? search history that's revealing about who you are. Okay.
Starting point is 00:14:18 Y'all, I'm not going to lie, I always get a little nervous when I'm looking this up, because I kind of don't know what to say. Do you mind if I just read off a few and you guys pick the interesting one? Sure. Bye. Okay. You always got some interesting shit cooking up, so. All right.
Starting point is 00:14:31 So I just wrote down a few that were notable to me. Hello Kitty Island Adventure. I'm trying to remember the name of Michael Winslow, General So's Pizza Rolls. best emo albums list that pissed me off. A lot of misfits lyrics for a misfits cover set we're doing on October 29th of the Drunken Unicorn in Atlanta. Steve Harvey and the Mexican National Anthem. I got to know.
Starting point is 00:15:03 My two picks are... Yeah, let's each pick a couple. Okay. Okay, Jack, you pick first. Okay, I was going to go general sauce pizza roll. Okay, and I'll do the next one. Okay, tell us about general shows pizza rolls. So my girlfriend was craving general, she was craving Chinese food the other night after we had came home from a Halloween parade after a few drinks in the middle of the day.
Starting point is 00:15:24 And I was like, baby, we should not door dash anything right now because we don't have any money. And she was like, but I want to. And I was like, okay, hang on. We had some dumplings from Trader Joe's or Costco. I can't remember. Costco dumplings, actually. And I was trying to remember a simple general so's recipe I saw. And I remember it was from this Instagram account I like.
Starting point is 00:15:53 There's a few actually that basically cook what's called like line cook meals. Where it's like you get someone who's like a line cook who comes home and they drink like a bottle of like Fernette and Mallort and make like trashy delicious food. Is it that one account where the dude is like throwing bottles across? Yeah, he's like throwing highlights across the end. I've seen that. He's like, fuck, it's just like stabbing a can. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:19 I don't know if it was specifically that one, but because there's a handful of these, like popping up. Ever since the bear line cooks have been having a moment. Sure. Which, I mean, you know, shouts out to them,
Starting point is 00:16:32 shouts out to them. But I was trying to remember what his simple general show's sauce recipe was. And I followed it more or less. And you know what? Pretty damn good. And so you use the sauce and put it on and you like tossed pizza rolls in it?
Starting point is 00:16:48 No, I tossed a cost coat chicken vegetable dumplings in it, which was a lot tastier. I do not like pizza rolls. I think they're really gross. Sure. But I remember he made them with freezer burnt pizza rolls. And that was like how the general so's recipe stuck in my brain. That'll do it. Was from pizza rolls.
Starting point is 00:17:11 So I looked that up and I said, thank you. Chef. Thank you, Chef. Yes, Chef. Wee Chef. And what was the other one? The other one, I was just curious, why Michael Winslow? Because Michael Winslow is one of my favorite characters from the 80s. One of my friends was making that weird.
Starting point is 00:17:28 Can any of y'all do that where you like, you make a, like a water drop? You flink the corner of your mouth while making a little O with your mouth. Let me fucking go. And I told. Oh, my God. Yes. That was not pulled off the internet. That wasn't a MacOS system sound called water drop or whatever.
Starting point is 00:17:48 No, that was. Wow. Yeah. Boom. Wow, you can do it from the bottom? Bro, you could do it. I used to do it like, watch, I'll hit my head. What the fuck? Watch, this one's the chest.
Starting point is 00:18:00 I'm going to beat my chest and do it. Wow. It's a shame this is an audio-only format because. They saw it. They're going to think you just have a soundboard, just like, weep, wee. No, this needs to be the only Instagram clip for a week. Okay.
Starting point is 00:18:17 And you're the one who just said, Michael Winslow is one of your favorite. Yeah, yeah, yeah. All right. Codette Larvell Jones to you. It was, where was? It was Larvell. Wow, that sounds like a blood-borne in PC. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:18:32 It's like, I will purify your blood. My name is Larval Jones. Yeah, literally I just, couldn't remember his name. And I just, he's a funny person because I remember seeing him all over. Like,
Starting point is 00:18:48 it seemed like anytime a talk show or a TV show needed to kill like 10, 15 minutes, they were like, bring out silly noises guy. Yeah, right, right. And he'd be like, here's the sound of an ambulance. You want to hear,
Starting point is 00:19:02 you want to hear Jimmy Hendricks? Or there's one that he would always do, Led Zeppelin, I think. There's like a lot of feedback. He would make the sound of like, crunchy guitars with a lot of feedback. It is wild that he is Has not been replicated
Starting point is 00:19:17 You know, he's a little like Weird Al Like that But even like even Weird Al Like it gave way to like Lonely Island And stuff like that But like Michael Winslow There's people who do impressions But I feel like there's nobody who
Starting point is 00:19:31 He's still he is the icon For a person who makes them with mouth I have a theory that like Now that you mention that like a lot of that style of comedy. Like, it's not just Michael Winslow, but also, like, carrot top or Gallagher. Like, that's just like, anything like that is just taken over by, like, just some random asshole on TikTok.
Starting point is 00:19:55 Sure, sure, sure. I'm going to smash a durian with a hammer. Right, right, right. Yeah, there's just some guy. It stinks. Some guy in his shed who's like 77 impressions of different farm equipment in seven minutes. and yeah Michael Winslow
Starting point is 00:20:11 like probably like went to like acting school like Michael Winslow was probably from like Juilliard or something but like he just happened to have this Juilliard of nois like now you can just be some guy
Starting point is 00:20:22 from like like St. Louis who's like boop bloop bleep blubleep this is the sound a bunch of eels make
Starting point is 00:20:29 bloop bluble blupe blupe like that is so funny this is what they sound like we've all heard a bunch of eels
Starting point is 00:20:34 it says he said he had he said he had few Winsel had few friends growing up to past time he would imitate the sounds of engines, animals, flatulence, or anything that made noise. Following high school in college... I can do the flasulence. Yeah, I mean, yeah,
Starting point is 00:20:46 that's beginner shit. But then following high school and college, he performed in nightclubs and theaters where his sound imitation skills won him positive appraisal and enough money to move to perform his act in Hollywood. Damn. There ain't no story like that anymore. Imagine going to
Starting point is 00:21:02 Magic City and expecting like strippers and you just see some guy like... Somebody better fix that leak. One of these ladies is going to get hurt. Better mop that up. I do feel like, I mean, there's been kids going viral for doing bird calls, like, doing it.
Starting point is 00:21:24 Oh, yeah. There's that one kid. Yeah, yeah. Nobody's even familiar with, but it just like, you're like, I bet that is what that bird sounds like. There is another one, a dude does machine guns. The West Virginia duck calls stuff. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:36 There's a machine gun guy, too, who all like to call of duty first person shooter. Like nuts go fucking crazy for you. Like, dude, do a fucking M60. Or like that 810 there's a corner.
Starting point is 00:21:48 There's a corner waiting for the next Michael Winslow online to just come stand on. I support that corner of gun tube. That's just like whatever. Just making like sound effects. It's weird. And then like every 15th video,
Starting point is 00:22:01 he's like, I want to talk to you guys about Christ. And you're like, oh. No, literally. Literally. One of my most toxic, like, traits is that I, um, anytime I get one of those videos that's like,
Starting point is 00:22:14 can a bullet stop a hundred rubber duckies? I'm like, I'm watching that. I'm watching that every single time. It ends with a biblical message. I want to know. I want to know. There's so many, like, of these YouTubers that do that, like, they're like, some are Mormon and stuff, like, where they just have access, like, to clearly a lot of money. to do stuff we're like, I'm going to go to every single theme park hotel. And like, it's just about having the capital to like basically say, I'm going to hit every hotel. And then at the end, it's like, you know, like, God also loves you. Just want you to know that. You know who likes hotels?
Starting point is 00:22:51 Christians. There's a big hotel up in the sky waiting for you. Hey, Jesus is waiting for you right next to your bed, side table. Every time, open that drawer and open up your heart. Let them in. What is something, Janie, that you think is underrated? Okay, I couldn't find, I had a hard time with this, with all of these, honestly. Where did I write this down?
Starting point is 00:23:13 Over, Under? Well, I think, personally, the album, Crisis Acting in the End Times, or How to Kill the Antichrist and Save Rock and Roll by Janie Danger is a criminally underrated album. Yeah. But, um, people are saying, many are saying. I think that's very underrated. It should be very, very highly rated. It should be going all, just off the charts rated.
Starting point is 00:23:36 should be. But aside from that, I had a few here. I wrote down, honestly, I wrote down Nathan Fielder, but I feel like we're going to talk about that later. So I might save that. Okay. I wrote that down because even though he's one of the most highly rated things ever, I still feel like he's misunderstood in a sense by a lot of people. So we could maybe save my thoughts on that. Okay. Yeah, yeah. Here, I'll go with this one since it's Halloween time. Uh, free movie, free movie sites. Free movie sites. Not everyone is good at torrenting.
Starting point is 00:24:10 And I understand that. I've told some of my coworkers, one thing I really like to say, and I say it like this every time, is how it feels to not have any streaming services at all, not pay for any of them, is, and I'm doing like a motion of handcuffs with my hand, and I'm breaking them.
Starting point is 00:24:28 Breaking them, liberating yourself. It feels so freeing, not having to pay for anything, and just, finding it. And I still probably spend, I still give more money to like movies I like and stuff than I ever would by using streaming services. But I will say there's still to this day websites out there on the regular internet that you can just click, click, click, click away. And it might not have exactly what you want. Sure. It's going to have something beautiful and
Starting point is 00:25:00 crazy and especially around Halloween. I'm a big fan of effed up movies, and it does have a lot of really bad shit in it that I'm kind of working on a secret little project about right now. But it has a bunch of just normal-ass, like dope-ass movies. Like, it's got, like, a bunch of, like, slashes and Gialo,
Starting point is 00:25:19 and it's got, like, Harmony Corinne movies and, like, anything that's effed up. Right. And it's just there. I was surprised how much shit was on the Internet Archive, too. Like, I was looking for an old Comedy Central show, and the entire season was just, like, uploaded it. Like, it was like, 360P, which is fine. It was, like, from the 90s.
Starting point is 00:25:39 Yeah. But I was like, it's all here, and it's not on a single streaming site. It's probably better quality now than it was watching it on, like, a CRT in, like, in 1994. Like, yeah, so shout out to free movie sites. I think they're so underrated. I don't want to say too many because I don't want to blow up their spot. Yeah. Go on Reddit.
Starting point is 00:26:00 You find them by just searching. Yeah, go on Reddit. Also, there's free movies on YouTube. You can watch Inland Empire in full on YouTube. Yeah. I don't know how. It hasn't been taken down. You can watch Silence of the Lambs on there, too.
Starting point is 00:26:16 What? Maybe if it's like a free? Premium? Amazing. I don't know. Amazing stuff. I saw it and then I was like, y'all are changing the words. I have to, I can't watch this version of Silence of the Lambs, actually.
Starting point is 00:26:26 You realize you're watching Seinfeld of the Land. Lambs. Kramer, what are you doing to these girls? What are you doing? They put the lotion on the skin, Jerry. I can smell your. Like Kramer's Buffalo Bill. And Newman's Hannibal.
Starting point is 00:26:43 Yeah. It's like, I know how to catch him, Clarice. With that ween mate laugh. Yeah, Clarice is, you're like, I don't remember Julia Louis-Dreyfus being in this film. Hello, Elaine. I could definitely see her. coming around the corner to his cell and just Wayne Knight sitting there with a big smile on his face. That is an awkward moment where Hannibal Lecter is just standing there in his whites with like his hands behind his back or like on his hips.
Starting point is 00:27:12 Yeah. It's very cute. Fucking George was in a Jacob's ladder, which I remember the first time I watched that. I was like, what that's George? Oh, no. Great 90s or late 80s run. And it was great too because Jason Alexander was wearing so many wigs in different roles too. Are you like, oh, he got hair in this one?
Starting point is 00:27:28 All right. Yeah. Yeah. That was kind of the prototype of just like guy in a silly wig. Like every episode of like, it's always sunny where Frank Ray is a wig. It doesn't have to be a joke. It's just always funny every time you show us up a wig.
Starting point is 00:27:41 Just do it with a straight face. What's something you think is overrated? Overrated. Well, I think the end times are quite overrated. Speaking of which, crisis acting and then I'll get to that later. I wrote down just saying, words. This is something I've encountered on Twitter a lot lately.
Starting point is 00:28:03 I've kind of made my own little copy pasta to respond to people who just like they'll use term I don't like the term slop anymore. I think y'all have used the term slop too much. I'm seeing
Starting point is 00:28:19 y'all use it to like everything. You could go to a lens crafters and be like, I'm tired of glass of slop. Oh, like that. What do you say? What do you mean? Like, y'all are just saying shit. Like, everyone is just saying things that are, like, very specific personal grievances to them. And then acting like, this is a broader problem or a broader reflection on, like, societal ills.
Starting point is 00:28:48 And I want to stress that, like, I actually really like, like, I call it artful hating. I used to be on rotten tomatoes a lot, like way back in the day. I think it's pretty trash now. But way back in the day, I would look up like classic movies and stuff, and I would always try to find, like, the bad reviews,
Starting point is 00:29:11 like the one motherfucker who's like, I didn't care for the godfather. It insisted upon itself. Yeah. But I want to, and sometimes it's stupid. Like a lot of times you go on letterbox and you're like, I didn't like, you can see everything because Nathan Fielder is like not.
Starting point is 00:29:27 like woke or something. And you're like, what? What do you mean? Are you sure? Like sometimes it's ridiculous, but like an artfully done, like, hater thing, even if it's something I love, I'm like, you know what? That's worth reading.
Starting point is 00:29:40 Yeah, you wasn't thought into it. And I feel like the way, like here, I wrote down one example where someone was talking about the, um, Cameron Winter, Paul Thomas Anderson Carnegie Hall performance, Paul Thomas Anderson filmed. And they said, Bourgeois, darling,
Starting point is 00:29:56 Paul Thomas Anderson strikes again. This time with a toothless derivative anti-revolutionary concert film devoted to saccharine young Nepo baby sciop Cameron Winter in these trying times Anderson chooses to mock liberatory aesthetics with grainy anesthetic 35 millimeter slop.
Starting point is 00:30:15 What? Like what? Like you're just connecting a string of personal grievances together. Like you don't have to like Cameron Winter. You don't have to like fucking, His music. You don't have to like Paul Thomas Sanders' movies.
Starting point is 00:30:29 You don't have to like these aesthetics. But the connections here aren't, like, connecting in a way that actually, like, materializes in an actual critique of anything except for a string of personal grievances. And it's word slot. So what's your copy pasta you hit them with? Oh, let me look that up. I think I said, let me go to X. Jarvis. copy pasta file.
Starting point is 00:30:58 Jarvis, hit me with my X-to-everything app tab. Yalee putting your... I said, we're just saying fucking words, bro. Just anything. Just open a dictionary and start putting shit together. We're doing fridge magnet shit, bro. Let's link up and say bullshit from a fridge. It's lit.
Starting point is 00:31:14 Because they're just saying bullshit from a fridge. They're just grabbing, like, a group of, like, pre-selected fridge magnets. Yeah. And cooking them together. Yeah. Like, it's... This one fits with this one.
Starting point is 00:31:27 It's like the new version, poetry fridge magnets, but you're just doing like Twitter buzzword shit together. Yes. You get your own swap phrase. One buzzword after another. Yeah. Yeah. I hate it.
Starting point is 00:31:38 I'm so sick of it. I think there's a very real connection between Paul Thomas Anderson's shot selection and AI Slop. I think they're right. They've nailed it. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, it's weird, too, that Slop started as a term for like the AI
Starting point is 00:31:54 Slop and Slop. and slop, like, it, I don't know. Like, I, I get why that word, it's also weird that, like, the term slop kind of is downstream from, like, 4chan stuff, but don't really have to get into that. But, like, it, it had, like, the connotation with that. And now that it has connotation with anything,
Starting point is 00:32:12 it kind of just means nothing, which is just something that... It's what ends up happening on the internet. You know, like, just certain shit just gets so worn out. It's like, I don't know, it's completely less its meaning at this point. Yeah. The death of all means. meaning is just something that I think about a lot and something that's been like a core thing about like my music and writing. And apparently, I mean, judging from the cultural schema right now, like, I'm not the only one to be thinking about stuff like that. Especially with like the big, the big hit movies that are out in theaters right now.
Starting point is 00:32:47 So, yeah. Super Triser Victor said, I saw someone referred to There Will Be Blood as Quality Slap, something people only like because it's good. High quality filmmaker slop. Amazing. I'm tired of this good, good slop. Bring me some more fucking alcohol slop to deal with this bullshit.
Starting point is 00:33:09 Let's take a quick break. We'll come back. We'll talk about Elon Musk and a couple of other things. We'll be right back. The music you love. Your favorite radio stations. Everywhere you go.

Starting point is 00:33:51 If there's a million times more Digital Intelligence Than there is biological intelligence It's hard to imagine Humans being in control in that scenario I'm Walter Isaacson, host of the new podcast, The Builders. Right now, we're living through an AI arms race. So I went directly to the people shaping that future.
Starting point is 00:34:12 Elon Musk, Dario Amade, Alex Carr, Faye, Faye, Faye Leap, Palmer Lucky, because I wanted to understand what the most consequential builders believe, what they fear, and where they think this is all headed. Silicon Valley is always saying the cliche thing about the way to predict. the future is to create it. Well, yeah, it's up to us. But when you say us, who's us? Is it 400 people that you know in Silicon Valley? Is it me down here in New Orleans? They're brilliant, controversial, and they're already shaping the future. The question is, whose imagination do we want to live in?
Starting point is 00:34:50 This is going to determine the fate of nations and economies and the future of humanity. Listen to the builders on the iHeart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I'm Hamza. And I'm Martin. And we're the hosts of Out of Character. It's a podcast. I know there's a lot of them going around. But why should you listen to ours? Well, we're only the best podcast in the entire world.
Starting point is 00:35:15 And we talk about pretty much everything under the sun. For example, music we're listening to, underground music, trending music, drama in music worlds. Yes, sometimes we even talk about just everyday mundane situations in our lives, like the cool Uber driver we just had. or the food we just say, that is surprisingly delicious. Or we'll talk about the Med Gala and the looks that they wore. Are they awesome? Are they trendy? Come find out.
Starting point is 00:35:42 Because our opinion matters. And so does yours. And this is a place where all of our minds can come together and connect. So what are you waiting for? Come connect with us. Listen to out of character from Will Ferrell's Big Money Players Network. On the IHeart Radio app, Apple Pods, or wherever you get your podcasts. And we're back. We're back. And I think we can blow through a couple stories here before we get.
Starting point is 00:36:07 that you can see everything, which is what we're really here to talk about. Really? For the foreseeable future. No, so Elon Musk announced his plan to gift SpaceX shares to every child in America. And there was a Wall Street Journal article, Musk vows to give each U.S. child a SpaceX share. Like, people are treating this as a thing that is possibly going to happen.
Starting point is 00:36:31 So just real quick, he generally likes to promise to donate money to chair. more than he likes to donate money to charity. He signed the Giving Pledge in 2012, which is, you know, the billionaire pledge to give more than half of your money away to charity before you die or in your will. He transferred more than... Where's he at right now? So he transferred $8 billion of Tesla stock to his charitable foundations, which sounds like a lot.
Starting point is 00:37:01 It is only 0.9% of his net worth. But as of his non-profits last publicly available tax returns, turn, most of that money is still just sitting there. An estimated $500 million has been dispersed out of the $800 billion in the last decade. So he, like, says he's going to do something. He puts it in a position where he could do something. Oh, of $800 billion, he said? What's that? He said $800 billion he gave? No, no, $500 million. But then you said of $800 billion. Of $8 billion that he put in there.
Starting point is 00:37:37 Sorry, sorry, sorry, okay. Yeah, so he put... Sounds like a bunch of charity slop, the man. Yeah, his charity slop is essentially what it is, where he, like, does the thing to get the credit, to get the headline that he put $8 billion in his charitable foundation. It's like he's about to give it away. And then he has only done a small portion of it,
Starting point is 00:37:58 but for the most part, everything else, he just kind of lets it cook. This is probably to compete with Anthropic, who announced it would a lot of portion of its shares to a public, benefit fund on an ongoing basis the day before Musk made his announcement. Isn't Anthropic also lobbying
Starting point is 00:38:15 the Pope to try to get him to admit that their AI is sentient? Oh, that has an AI? No, to get they want the Pope to be like, hey, could you just tell people that our AIS? It has a soul.
Starting point is 00:38:32 Right, right, right. No. Have you heard what the Pope said about AI? Get the fuck out of He ain't going to be like, this child has a soul. Please treat Claude well. So how would it happen? Did they insult it or is it just born, did God insult it?
Starting point is 00:38:50 Or does the Pope insult? Who is insoling the AI? I think that's how, in this hypothetical where it does have a soul. I'm not here to compare me, the creator of this AI to God who creates, you know, beings with souls. I'm just here to ask the Pope to say that. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:39:10 It's essentially where I think you're coming from. It's like you're trying to get a pull quote for the back cover of your book or something. Yeah. Right. I'm kind of like, God, would you agree the Pope? Yo, this shit totally got a soul. Roger Evert and Richard Roper, can you give my AI two thumbs up to put on the front cover of the DVD? Two souls up.
Starting point is 00:39:29 He's really in like PR control mode this week, just like with the fucking stupid car. I got a shout out. Oh, the flying one. The one that went upside down on the wall. The roadrunner or whatever. Did a kick flip off the fucking wall. Shout out next. No, I'm kind of interested in that because I'm usually, I'm often finding myself in situations where I might.
Starting point is 00:39:49 Yeah, yeah, yeah. I might have to do a Dukes of Hazard style. Someone on blue sky, shout out of Max Zenil of Zite gang who sent me a video about like how, someone's been doing this like, this is a new technology even? Like what the fucking, the Elon Musk car thing? So, again, it's just all, hey, look over here. Don't look at that. It's a cool trick he saw a car company doing.
Starting point is 00:40:12 He's like, that'll, yeah. If Elon Musk wasn't, like, the most evil person ever riddled with Antichrist particles, I would say that, like, just in the abstract, making, like, Looney Tunes technology where, like, you can, like, run off a cliff and, like, look down and, like, be like, oh, oh, gravity, that's awesome. Like, just in the abstract, I think that that's pretty fucking cool. As distractions go, that was a pretty good one. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:42 I do think it was meant to be a distraction from who he is or what he's doing. If he was just a guy who makes Looney Tune stuff, then, yeah, you're like, that'd be dope. There's Looney Tunes good. That would be, it'd still be better to give that money to, like, people who need it. But just in the abstract, like, doing stupid shit like that, like, I don't know. Like, that's, I'd like to, I like see. Same thing in my brain that makes me watch, like,
Starting point is 00:41:07 how many rubber ducies does it take to stop a desert eagle? Like, it's the same thing that makes me interested. Like, well, how many squish mellows would stop a bullet? Do we have an answer on that? I'd like to get an answer on that by the time. Dude, I don't know if they've done squish mellas. They've probably done rubber ducies, though. Yeah, for sure.
Starting point is 00:41:27 Also, the recent Elon Musk documentary reveals that he slashed his child care payments to his ex because she publicly admitted that the baby was his. And it went from like 40,000 a month to 20,000 a month after she, like, tried to negotiate from a lump sum of 15 million plus 100,000 a month in child support. She was like, I don't know. That seems weird to me. And then he was like, okay, you get a dash. 40,000 a month.
Starting point is 00:41:56 And then she was like, okay, I guess I'm going to go public since you're like put, you know, hardball negotiating with. with me when I just had your kid. And then he was like, it's 20,000 a month. So the one share, it also, that headline reads like old-timey philanthropy. You know what I mean? Like he, like, that's kind of like the sort of bump he's trying to get from being like, Musk promises one share to every U.S. child of space fuck, you know?
Starting point is 00:42:24 Yeah. Sure. But again, who the fuck wants a share of anything? Like, that's, I'm not like a stock market person. Like, I don't, like, I've been addicted to everything under the sun, but gambling. Because gambling implies, like, I'm losing things. Right. And I don't, that's why I can't ever get buying the stock market.
Starting point is 00:42:45 Like, I had a Robin Hood account for, like, a few weeks, because I was, it was around, like, the time the GameStop shit was happening. Oh, yeah. And people were like, Dogecoin will make you some money. I did it for, like, two weeks. I saw it go up to, like, $100. And I was like, I'm out. I'm going to get my money.
Starting point is 00:43:02 nails done. Like, I'm good. I close my account immediately. Like, I just, I don't understand, like, why would I want to share? Okay, control. Give me a little bit of money. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I just hit you up for a hundred bucks. No, it's not even control. It's just like, I have money. I'm taking that. No, I'm saying that you were, you were able to look at that and say, I've reached the usefulness of this and I seek no more. Yeah. I mean, maybe, maybe I stopped before I found the big pile of diamonds. Maybe I should get back in. Oh, like that meme? Yeah, like the person who stopped digging right before you hit that payload.
Starting point is 00:43:38 Why could it be... Elon's going to start them off with that big payload. I mean, Musk could just offer every child $150 bucks. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. That's about what SpaceX share is. I think this is implicitly their pitch for, like, this is what we'll have instead of Social Security. You know, like money that is actually held by the government for, to help people.
Starting point is 00:44:04 It's like, no, instead, you get, you get a stake in the stock market, which it makes sense that they would want to do that. A stake, huh? Sorry, I mean, we're chaining you to the radiator that is Wall Street. That's right. Right, yeah. Just so you know. So don't fucking, don't get any ideas because you'll go down with this thing.
Starting point is 00:44:20 Also, one thing I just don't understand about SpaceX is like, where is NASA? Like, I'm sorry, it's just a stupid question, but like, I thought NASA was what did space space. stuff and it was publicly funded. And now SpaceX is like a private company and they're like, we're doing rockets too.
Starting point is 00:44:40 Yeah. And it's like what? Because funding's just been going down and down and down. You know, to the point where it's, you know, the point where they're like partnering with SpaceX, right? Yeah. To help do things. Yeah. I'd have to assume there's like subsidies and stuff there too. Like everything
Starting point is 00:44:57 Elon related. Yeah. Oh, yeah. And like, and now too, and with obviously this administration, one of his friends is heading up NASA. Who? I'll tell you right now. His name is Jeffrey Epstein. He's back and he knows about rockets now. He's always been interested in science, actually.
Starting point is 00:45:19 He's like, I'm done with, I know. Jared, his name is Jared Isaacman. Jared Eatson. Jared Isaacman? Yep. Jared's good man. The binding of Isaacman. Yep.
Starting point is 00:45:29 He's 43 years old and like a big, And yeah, again, huge musk ally. Speaking of Access Oregon meat, hot dogs have been recalled. Kayam Foods has announced a massive recall of nearly 1.6 million pounds of ready to eat cooked meat and poultry products. Pounds. Because of the storage, temperature storage issue. Have you all seen the thing about how like every time there's like a headline about food being recalled, they find a picture of RFK where he looks exactly like the food that's being recalled?
Starting point is 00:46:02 This one's so easy. Hot dog, that's a slow one down the middle. Oh, yeah, yeah. It's a slow one down the middle. Literally, his face looks like he is made of hot dog meat. You baloney face, motherfucker. Yeah, yeah, we got you right here. This is not a light warning.
Starting point is 00:46:18 They say that there is a reasonable probability that eating the meat could cause serious adverse health consequences or death. And this is all because they gutted food testing, the safety net, those there to catch food. before it was out and harming people. And, you know, now they catch it when people get sick from, you know. It's like the old king testing method where, like, the king has a peasant test their food for them. And then watches to see if they die.
Starting point is 00:46:49 Come on, chew it up. Is that good? Are you dead? No? All right, give it. Give it to me. Give it to me. But I'm eating it.
Starting point is 00:46:54 Yeah. I mean, also, it's not really in hot dog season. It's not. I do see hot dogs as a very seasonal food, although I grew up eating them kind of year-round. They bloom in the spring. It's time for the hot dog harvest. They grow like asparagus, just like straight out of the ground. Just straight up out of the ground.
Starting point is 00:47:17 You just pick them. Is that how asparagus grows? Just straight up. Yes, dude. Wow. No, if you have never looked at a picture of how asparagus grow, it will, it's like garden eels. If you ever seen a garden eel, they just come.
Starting point is 00:47:31 right out of the ground. Oh, yeah. It's like otherworldly. It's exactly how in my head it would grow. Whereas like cashews are weird. They look like a fruit has like taken a little shit. Yeah, on the top of it. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:47:44 Whereas asparagus is exactly. It just like pops up like straight out of the ground. No, it's so unsurious. Okay, I've never seen cashews growing either. This is all so crazy. Yeah. What in the hell? It's like an apple just poops it out.
Starting point is 00:47:57 Yeah. What the fuck? It's a lot of, it's a lot of mass just. for that little thing on the top. You're like, what about all that other shit? Dude, yeah, what about the other stuff? Cash is the ultimate rich guy food. It's just the waste.
Starting point is 00:48:09 I found out I'm allergic to cashews recently. Oh, really? Yeah, one of my coworkers brought in some dill pickle cashews. And I was like, do you want someone? I was like, of course. And I took a handful and I was like, my mouth is quite itchy right now. So it wasn't like a full-on reaction, but like the itchy mouth. Your body said,
Starting point is 00:48:27 Mm-hmm. Yeah. You sure? It's like when you eat it now, a season hot dog. Yeah, exactly. It's not quite what's going on. My throat closes up. You don't want to do it. I do, I never thought of hot dogs as being a particularly like volatile food. You know, I always thought of them as being pretty stable.
Starting point is 00:48:47 Because it's so chemical. Hamburger meat sitting out. If I, if I'm like at a barbecue and there's been hamburger meat sitting out in the sun all day and hot dogs sitting out in the sun all day, I'm going to feel fine about the hot dog because that shit is. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like, I feel like you could bury that underground for a couple weeks and, like, it'd still be fine. It's also, like, like, it's ready to eat when you get it. Like, you're an absolute psychopath if you do that. But, like, you can. I know.
Starting point is 00:49:15 I have a, I had a friend who would eat raw hot dogs because you can. He's like, no, you actually don't need to cook. Just Lucy's out the pack? Like that? Oh, yeah. That in Vienna. It's like a Vienna sausage, basically. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:49:28 worse. A venous sausage. got that juice in the cane. Yeah, you do get the juice, which makes a great Bloody Mary or dirty martini. Yeah, the Vienna Tini. Yeah, let me get a dirty Vienna martini. Yeah, it's shaken. Yeah, you better incorporate that shit.
Starting point is 00:49:49 Yeah, yeah, actually, I'd like my stir. You know, I don't like the dilution. Yeah, true. You don't want to bruise the juniper. Yeah. Yes, with a hot dog. With the property of bar stern. But it's got to be like an 18-incher, so you got the same kind of length of like a cocktail mixing spoon.
Starting point is 00:50:07 Yeah. There's a classic cocktail called a T-punch, and the lore behind it is that it was stirred with your finger. And there's still bars that will, if you order a tea punch, to stir it with their finger. Wait, why would it's... Why does that make a difference? Because it was like a cocktail for like sailors. It's basically like a boozy-ass, like rum-dackery. with like rum agricole and like a lime cheek and just like some cane sugar and it was just meant for like sailors like like when they need like a quick drinkable drink they just pour a shit ton of rum agriacol cane sugar lime lime cheek and then stir with their finger and there you go drink up drink up soldier i'm gonna go to a bar and i'll be like and do it the old school way yeah do it the old school take that glove off yeah find a girl with some long like nicely done nails you'd be like tea
Starting point is 00:50:58 I want whatever's growing under a bartender's fingernail to be in my drink. Yeah, but five of them, so they got to go like with their whole hand. That's how you know they're a pro. Yeah. Grip it, like a basketball. All right. You can palm a basketball. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:51:16 Let's take a quick break. We'll come back and we will talk about you. You can see everything. Oh, which you can ask, is this the film that can heal America? We'll be right back. The music you love. Your favorite radio stations Everywhere you go

I'm Walter Isaacson, host of the new podcast, The Builders. Right now, we're living through an AI arms race. So I went directly to the people shaping that future. Starting point is 00:53:28 I know, bold. But why don't we list some of the things we might talk about on a regular. episode. So sometimes we'll talk about, I don't know, the Uber driver we just had. And how nice they were, or if we tip them or not, come and find out. Sometimes we'll talk about that weird news story from last week. It's the one you're thinking about, trust me. Or maybe we'll talk about music and what's happening in the underground or drama in music or TV shows or the Met Gala and what the actors wore. What we're saying is we're not afraid to talk about everything under the sun. And if you want to see what that's like, come join us. It's a place where everyone
Starting point is 00:54:02 can hang out anyone. Wherever you're from, whatever you're like, you're welcome. Listen out of character from Will Ferrell's Big Money Players Network on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Pods, or wherever you get your podcasts. And we're back. And as mentioned earlier on the week, you can see everything as a box office hit. I have to assume they're expanding it brought to more people. At first I was like, okay, it's going to have a good first week because everybody who fucks with Nathan Field. is going to go see it and it's like going to be very popular in the sorts of you know cities where movies open but i was like i don't know if it's going to i don't know how leggy it's going to be and now i'm like no this is everybody is talking about this this movie has broken containment
Starting point is 00:54:54 it is not just for film people anymore like this is everybody is talking about like you i feel like you kind of have to see it it is your duty as an american you're talking about will fall, right? Yeah, so of course, talking about well fall. Yeah. Well, fall's a great word they should not have wasted on that movie. I don't know. Have you seen it? Have you seen it? No, you saw it? No, I didn't. I saw, I saw someone describe it as a movie made specifically for AMC Stubbs members. I was like, that sounds perfect. That sounds perfect. I'm not an AMC Stubbs member. Or maybe it's just kind of like, It could be like the new seasonal fashion trend. It's like, are you doing whale fall?
Starting point is 00:55:39 Yeah. It sounds like something like a rednecks would do. You know how they do the thing where they like stick their arms into the river and let fish bite them for like fish. Yeah, like, doodling. Yeah, yeah. We're going whale falling. We get sucked up by a whale and get, you spurted out.
Starting point is 00:55:55 Hell yeah. Hill billy hand fishing. There go. Yeah. Hill billy hand fishing. What if we went inside that whale and kissed each other? Right here in front of God. Just like Jonah.
Starting point is 00:56:05 I will say you were saying how much of a hit it was. It was number two in the box office this weekend. Yeah, after Street Fighter. Do you all know what number one was? Street Fighter. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:56:17 What the fuck? I mean, barely even, I think I saw like one trailer for those. I didn't even see a trailer. I saw like a quick, like, like a Instagram stories ad for it for a thing. There's a fucking street fighter movie. I thought like the algorithm knows I'm Asian.
Starting point is 00:56:34 Like how the, fucking put this shit in front of me. Like, I was so into fucking street fighter. But anyway, I'm glad to see that even the people, the members of the right, the right, even the right, you said heels of the right wing, is it they like the Charlie Kirk mentioned maybe? I don't know. No, they actually don't like that.
Starting point is 00:56:50 They don't like that part. Yeah, I was going to say. Keep my man's name out of your mouth is what they say about that. But yeah, Megan Kelly talked. I don't know of Kirk Slop. Talked on her show. And she did complain about the audience's reaction to the moment when Charlie Kirk gets name dropped, but she still praised the film as a whole.
Starting point is 00:57:12 On the Monday episode of the Megan Kelly show, she talked about her experience, seeing Nathan Fielder's new documentary, and she said she enjoyed her time watching the film and even marveled at how full the theaters were for it. But there was one moment that rankled her. It did go political in this scene. It went political over someone who, I have. happened to love. His name is Charlie Kirk, and it was fucking ridiculous. It was ridiculous, and I was in the midst of a bunch of leftists in the theater. I'm not going to ruin it for you again, but his name came up, and one person was shitting all over Charlie, and one person
Starting point is 00:57:51 was defending him. But then she also, like, said she really liked the movie. I love it 10 out of time. She's able to get past that, I guess. Megan, you live in New York. You're surrounded by left quite often. Yeah, well, I mean, for them, anytime someone just has just a shred of empathy or anything, those are these leftists or whatever the fuck they are, why aren't you booing the mention of Charlie? I will say, just in terms of, like, theater experiences,
Starting point is 00:58:19 I've been a bit annoyed lately. Something me and my friend have talked about, like, performative laughter. The very opening scene of the film, like Nathan Fielder is in, like, the third, like, shot of the movie and people bust out laughing just at like his face and I was like looking around like guys like you know now yeah and while there is like a lot of funny things in this and I have to talk about prime time a little bit too because I had a very similar experience where like people
Starting point is 00:58:52 were laughing that whole movie and I was like this is terrifying none of this is funny to me at all sure and there definitely was scenes in both of these films that were intended to be laughed at. But I was a little, like, uneasy at how much, like, people were not taking things, like, seriously. And that entire, like, the dinner table scene, which Charlie Kirk has mentioned, is very funny. But, um, should we do a spoiler here? I guess it's, is it a spoiler to say Charlie Kirk gets promotion? Maybe.
Starting point is 00:59:23 I don't think so. I mean, the context, you don't even know who the people involved in the conversation, which I think is a broader point. The people involved in the conversation is a bit of a spoiler. So we'll say maybe if you plan on seeing it, this is the time to dip on out. Janie, why don't you first plug your album before they leave for people who haven't seen? Oh, yeah, yeah. My album's called Crisis Acting.
Starting point is 00:59:47 It has a fuller title called Crisis Acting in the End Times or how to kill the Antichrist and Save Rock and Roll. If you just type Crisis Acting by Janie Danger, there's been two singles, Kill Yourself Helpbook, And The Last Word, which both have beautiful music videos. The last word music video came out recently, directed by Nadir Bassett. He's a very talented director and director of photography. It's a very beautiful video that we're very proud of.
Starting point is 01:00:14 And I'm very, very, very, very proud of this album. We worked really, really, really hard on it. It's been described as conspiracy punk, which I think is a very cool term. And, yeah, I mean, if you like rock music, heavy music, It kind of has every, it's like a culmination of everything I've done. It's a little bit of every genre of like punk music, alternative music. Sort of like what Nathan Fielder did with, you can see everything, took little bits of his experiences, making things and culminates in the smash.
Starting point is 01:00:47 You could call it music slop in a sense, because it has a lot of different types of music that I care deeply about. And it's about a lot of what we're about to talk about things not becoming real. and the disassociation people have with, like, reality and leaning into, like, insincerity and hedonism and lunacy. And it begs you to return to a sense of sincerity and community by the end of it. And I am very proud of it. There's also a crisis acting, the crisis actress manifesto that accompanies it, which you can read on my substack and on the manifesto. Yeah. Well, yeah. Everyone loves a manifest.
Starting point is 01:01:30 Festo. Go there now. Check it out now. Crisis acting in the end times. And look. And if you're down for spoilers. If you're down for spoilers, keep listening.
Starting point is 01:01:42 Because it's about to happen now. You've been warned. So, yeah. Wait, what were we about? So Helen Keller shows up and the joke is that you can't see everything. We were talking, I mean, we were just, I think where we're leaving off was talking about, like, where the right was at.
Starting point is 01:02:00 Oh, yeah, yeah. Yeah. So Matt Walsh also praised you can see everything as a, quote, extraordinary bit of filmmaking, which prompted, I think that was the point where people were like, is Nathan Fielder going to unify and save the Republic? No. Can I tell you why?
Starting point is 01:02:18 That's not how it's happening. That would be too convenient and not how what needs to happen will happen. Right-wingers don't deserve to appreciate good art. So there's that. So even if they do like it, they don't deserve to like it. And I feel like right winger's always like to take a very different message out of what's been. And hey, for the record, I do this with right wing art that I like. Like when I watch Des Moist Tree, I'm like, this is very problematic, but it's a cool movie.
Starting point is 01:02:46 It has explosions. So like that's like what I take from that. I get the testimony from it, right. I think even in a hypothetical world where like everyone like received this message and was having a moment where it's like, we should be more like honest and real and understanding of each other. The fact that right-wing people are coming out and glazing it means that every annoying, like, faco, weirdo, anti-social leftist on Twitter is going to be like,
Starting point is 01:03:17 Nathan Fielder's MAGA, and he's uniting MAGA coalitions, and we have to stop this. So I'm sorry, guys, I'm sorry to hate on my own team. I rarely do that. I swear, but that is the one thing that I think would like fuck up this hypothetical. Sure, sure, sure. Sorry, that's my tangent on that. Yeah. I mean, it does seem like the conservatives are saying it's like an indictment of like
Starting point is 01:03:42 millennial idealism and, you know. I don't think that's entirely wrong. I don't think that's wrong either. I think it's very critical of a lot of different things in the culture. Yeah. Right. Yeah. It's also a takedown of like tech oligarchs and the,
Starting point is 01:03:57 the fact that, like, truth doesn't really exist anymore. Yeah. If I may, I want to also say that, like, this movie really benefits, like, the fielder fanatics, like, people who have gone from Nathan for You to the rehearsal, and especially the curse. I think a lot of people did not watch the curse because it is a tough watch. But the curse deals a lot, and the rehearsal season two, deals a lot with, like, him kind of feeling guilty about, like, tricking people and Nathan for you. and feeling guilty with, like, the insincerity that he showed.
Starting point is 01:04:32 And I think that that in conversation with primetime, where Lance Oppenheim is, like, critiquing how, like, Chris Hansen brought about this world of, like, punishment and shame. And, like, just, like, shame onto, like, the mainstream where everyone can, like, shame someone that they think deserves it. Like, I think that he's starting to, like, realize, like, maybe it's not good that I'm making this piece of art just for, everyone to like tar and feather this person who's already going to jail for a decade.
Starting point is 01:05:02 I think that like the self-flagellation like plays into that a lot and to lead us into the spoiler territory after the first hour is where Elizabeth Holmes actually does go to jail. Because all we really know is that it's about 34 days leading up to her going to jail. And that happens on the first hour where Jack, I guess I'll let you take it from there because I've talked a lot. where Amanda Seifred shows up. Yes. And it is, like, it is kind of the question you're asking because they keep referring back to the dropout and being like what, you know,
Starting point is 01:05:38 this thing that was very damaging to her. And they watch it with Elizabeth Holmes. And, you know, she's, like, very uncomfortable in it. And when she shows up, Amanda Seifra, like, the crowd, like, our crowd was just, like, so giddy with excitement. Yeah. And then she really, like, like fucking pays off.
Starting point is 01:06:00 Like she's amazing. She is great. And also fucking, what's his name? The actor who plays Billy is also an actor. Christopher Abbott. Christopher Abbott also plays Billy. From girls. This is where I know him from.
Starting point is 01:06:14 Oh, he's a girl. Oh, yeah, he is. Oh, my God. He's like Marnie's boyfriend who ends up like, I think having a drug, like a heroin problem. Like he goes through like a tech oligarch phase and then has a drug problem. Yeah, ironically. Interesting casting there.
Starting point is 01:06:29 I know I'm from a horror movie I thought I remember what it was. He just was the wolf. He was just the wolf man. Oh, he was the wolf man. Whoa. Yeah, that was where it really, like, the first hour is very engaging and fascinating. But it really, like, all of the, like,
Starting point is 01:06:47 glowing five out of five stars reviews you're saying is for everything that happens after that second hour. Yeah. And that's where I bring in how it, culminates all of, like, fielders, like, predilections and things that he's been exploring with, like, what is real, what is sincere? Like, he literally starts doing the rehearsal, but with Amanda Seafreed as this real person of these real events. And I want to share this story. I'm sorry, I've been going on a lot, but this movie's been in my head a lot lately. When I walked out of
Starting point is 01:07:24 the theater. There's a bar next to the plaza theater in Atlanta. And I went to the restroom because I had to pee. And I get out of the restroom and I look up and I see this girl in a black turtleneck with like kind of like fucked up lipstick and like kind of like fucked up like eyeliner. And she was blonde and I was like, holy shit. I literally, I felt like a pit in my stomach where like I literally, funny to bring up Charlie Kirk, like, you know how like people post a picture of someone who kind of looks like Charlie Kirk or like an AI thing?
Starting point is 01:08:00 And they're like, am I going fucking insane? Like, am I just seeing this guy everywhere? That was literally how I felt where I was like, am I just seeing this person everywhere now that I've just seen this movie? And thank God, I went by the bar and I saw one of my friends. And he was like, yeah, my wife just went to the bathroom. She's dressed up as Elizabeth Holmes.
Starting point is 01:08:19 I was like, oh my God. And he was dressed up as Elizabeth Holmes. Nathan Fielder, he had the, like, same, like, headphones that that Nathan had on. I literally, like, I can't stop thinking about that moment because I genuinely had, like, I came
Starting point is 01:08:34 back to my girlfriend, and I was like, I need a drink, like, what? Isn't that kind of, I feel like I'm going through psychosis right now? Did the film have that effect on you, too? Because I feel part of watching it is, you sort of have to reckon with whatever, whoever you thought Elizabeth Holmes is, was the depiction,
Starting point is 01:08:50 what it means, what message you got from that. You're just like questioning more sort of like at a macro level, like how we interact with people's personas and how quickly we are to just just be like, I know the fully defined person based on these three bits of information I have because I felt like that was a thing that gave me discomfort too of like sort of realizing what it means when you are put in front of cameras and the media just makes you a thing and our sort of our sort of thought killing cliches we sort of abide by to just sort of define people in certain ways.
Starting point is 01:09:23 And I said this on Monday when we're talking about, not to say she's innocent of anything, but just this added texture of like a humanity around a person that's very easy to just flatten into like a one-dimensional feeling. I will say, just to kind of tie those two points together, the one thing that is
Starting point is 01:09:40 like Nathan Fielder is wrestling with the truth and like the unknowability of the truth and like what, you know, feelings of guilt. Amanda Cipher it is, you can tell, like, wrestling with like feelings of guilt and, you know, things like that, but like kind of, you know, keep also maintaining like a level of kind of incisiveness. But the two that aren't wrestling with that at all are Elizabeth Holmes and her husband are just like, no, we actually did nothing wrong. Here's why over and over and over again as they're like trying to back their way into a technological
Starting point is 01:10:17 breakthrough that will justify like everything that they've been saying all along. And so I do think like ultimately it is an examination of these types of people who have taken over the world and don't possess a, the need to blink or be an internal monologue. Yeah, like any need to ever doubt what they've done in the past. Instead, we'll just keep reconfiguring the truth inside their mind as they move forward in whatever way is going to be most convenient for them. No, that was definitely something I started taking from it in about like part, like act two, where it was like, yeah, like the move to Austin and stuff is like, this world is just ran by a bunch of actual fucking psychopaths that have no regard for
Starting point is 01:11:05 anything. And yeah, you're right. Like I think Nathan and Amanda are two people that like actually are wrestling with these issues in their own way. Amanda Civry didn't interestingly, kind of feels like the audience surrogate. No, totally. Especially in the screening that I saw. Everything she was saying was getting the, like, claps and like, yeah, yeah, yeah. Especially when she was like,
Starting point is 01:11:28 we need to go tell her some shit so they break up. The fucking theater went up. We got to break them up. People are like, yeah, exactly. And that's, that's interesting too, because I'm curious what you all thought about, like, the ending kind of campfire scene where Nathan's talking about how
Starting point is 01:11:45 she said that thing. about love and how like, well, like, it's, it's about like, this dynamic of love that we have, and I love him. And Amanda Seafreed's, like, kind of revolted by that. But Nathan Fielder's like, you know, I actually thought that was kind of sweet. And I might be in the minority here, but I actually also thought that was kind of sweet when she said that. I don't know. Well, love is gross and it doesn't make sense. It's true. From an outside perspective, but when you're feeling it, it's amazing. And yeah, like, I was very skeptical of the fact that when she was talking about how much in love she was with, like how pure their love was, it sounded like she was quoting him.
Starting point is 01:12:27 Yeah, the monuments of love thing. And then the one thing that she kept coming back. So she said the monument of star love, which, to be fair, he had said before as something that she would say or had said. But then the fact that she kept coming back being like, I never have to fake it with him. It's like so real. And like the one conflict he had with Amanda Seifred was about faking orgasms. Oh, right. Made me think that like he had given her talking points to hit.
Starting point is 01:12:58 So you never have to fake it with me, right? Yeah. Yeah. It does benefit her to be in this relationship with this toxic guy who does the dirty work and goes out there and she gets to just continue to like be this sort of idealist thing like that. seems to be maybe her M.O. But we're, yeah. So there's also a lot of very fascinating, like, sexual dynamics, which was something I wasn't really expecting.
Starting point is 01:13:24 But, like, it's like they're in, like, a techno BDSM. Like, like, it's, like, it's not, like, actual, like, domination and control, like, physically in, like a BDSM sense. But it's, like, this weird kind of, like, digital financial BDSM. And you see that, like, in the, like, probably the most chilling scene to me, it was the scene where they're making her into the AI thing, where they're taking all the pictures of her,
Starting point is 01:13:53 and you see him later, like, he's using her body. Like, in kind of a consensual, non-consent way. Pamela H Anderson. Yeah. It's funny that that is also a moment where he's, yeah, very comfortable talking about jacking off to porn. And he shows his dick, like, pretty, early on.
Starting point is 01:14:15 That is. Amazing. It's not a bad dick. I hate to hand it to him, but it's not bad. Nathan Fielder. It's a decent dick. Nathan Fielder loves a bit of full frontal. That's what I got to say.
Starting point is 01:14:26 When he has the artistic license to do it, you're going to see some meat. You get some of that in the curse as well. Yeah, exactly. Nathan's like his little microt penis. Janie, I feel like we could talk to you about this forever. You got me on a movie episode, so you knew what you were getting into. Thank you so much for joining us. We've already talked about the new album.
Starting point is 01:14:47 Thank you so much. Where can people find you and follow you, though? Your wonderful follow. Yeah, God's Perfect Victim on Instagram, Wifestucker on Twitter. You can pretty much Google Janie Danger, find my music anywhere. Spotify Band Camp.
Starting point is 01:15:01 If you want to buy my music on Band Camp, it helps a lot. If you want to come to a show, I should hopefully have a tour out sometime next year. Florida fans, look out for that in particular. We're looking into doing a little Florida weekend come spring with another lovely local Atlanta band. So, yeah, or something bigger on the horizon.
Starting point is 01:15:23 I'm probably, this has been a really busy year for me, so I'm going to be taking a break at the end. Me and my girlfriend are going to Japan for a bit. So, yeah, Sayanara to everyone for a few weeks coming into the year. Oh, wow, you're already studying up. Yeah, I'm studying up. Yeah, I'm learning, I'm learning. I've been watching a lot of Takashi Mikei films.
Starting point is 01:15:42 yeah, Janie Danger, Janie, I.E. Please check it out. I'm very proud of this album. So I hope you like it too. Miles where can people find you? Is there a work of media? Oh, wait, Janie, is there a work of media you've been enjoying? It's Ichi the Killer, probably.
Starting point is 01:15:57 Oh, shit. Yeah, Ichie the Killers, though. I did look up something recently. I mean, so I have to do like, I'm getting paid to do a DJ set later this month on Halloween night. So I've been putting together a, it's an emo night DJ set. So I've been trying to put together a bunch of like emo. It's not that email. I'll be so for real.
Starting point is 01:16:22 Because there's just not that good Halloween emo music or emo music in general. I'm sorry. Anyway, I've been enjoying a lot of that. The cover of Astro Zombies by My Chemical Romance is great. But I also have this cute Twitter video. I'll send you all. It's called Drunk Pig. I think you'll like that.
Starting point is 01:16:41 It's a pig that ate something that got him drunk, and I think it's really cute. Just passed out, yeah. Well, that is the best part. But yeah, you guys can enjoy that. We will link off to that in the footnotes. Miles are you? Do you work in the 80?
Starting point is 01:16:56 You've been enjoying. Yeah, find me everywhere at Miles of Gray. You find me talking about 90-day fiancé on 420-day fiancé talking about the Premier League on A&A Footy with Jamel Johnson and Chris Martin. And work in media, I like, just look, I'll keep encouraging people. Check out, you can see everything. Just go do that.
Starting point is 01:17:16 Go do that if you can. Well, we'll talk about it tomorrow. We'll talk about it tomorrow. Work of media, I've been enjoying in reference to you can see everything. PJ Evans retweeted this thing. Rain Drops Media tweeted the world's largest 4DX cinema is at Regal Times Square in New York City. And it shows the theater seats just like going crazy, like bouncing up and down. And he said when Billy starts beating the eggs.
Starting point is 01:17:40 I have to say, Billy was right about that. I was going to say, that is the one place I'm team Billy. What the fuck was she doing with the eggs? She was not beating them well. She was not beating them all. She was just doing, no, she was just like moving it back and forth. Like it was very strange. I understand it's showing something about control, but she was not beating them very well. You got to beat them hard.
Starting point is 01:18:01 You'll get more air in them. It'll be a better scramble. I will say. Or the culinary, culinary asshole. is that. Be like, no, I mean, he got a point. He's right about that. I'm sorry he was right about that. It's the one thing, the one thing. And then I like to tweet by Garuka, who tweeted, punching Houdini in the gut so hard he dies probably felt amazing. Let's see you escape this, you fucking freak.
