Starting point is 00:01:04 Up first, I explore the making of a rivalry. Kaitlyn Clark versus Angel Reese. Every great player needs a foil. I know I'll go down in history. People are talking about women's basketball just because of one single game. Clark and Reese have changed the way we consume women's sports. Listen to the making of a rivalry. Kaitlyn Clark versus Angel Reese on the iHeart on the iheart radio app apple podcast or wherever you
Starting point is 00:01:25 get your podcast presented by capital one founding partner of iheart women's sports hello the internet and welcome to this episode of north trendolina take your pot off twist around your head like a zeitocopter. That's courtesy of Paul Garaventa. Miles, I don't remember why we were talking about that song earlier in the week. Were we talking about that song? I think so. I've made a reference to it earlier in the week.
Starting point is 00:01:56 I don't remember why. One of the AKs is about airborne heroin on tomorrow's episode. I couldn't do it because I didn't remember where that reference was from. My brain is... There's too many episodes of the Daily Zeitgeist. Today is North Carolina Day.
Starting point is 00:02:14 That's what it was. Yeah. Carolina Day, baby. Yeah, exactly. I'm Jack. That's Miles. Yeah, I used to be. These are some of the things that are trending
Starting point is 00:02:25 right now. Tell them. We'll go into more detail on the debate on tomorrow's episode, but that Chris Christie image is my, I think it sums up my feelings on the debate. The entire GOP.
Starting point is 00:02:41 Yeah. The entire primary. this picture is really something else it uh i don't know if you haven't seen it at dave anthony from the uh dollop uh wrote on twitter this is what a fart would look like if it were a human yeah and that's exactly right because you can look at it and you can say you could just look it looks like chris christie's fart like you believe that but then also somehow that also looks like a fart if it were i don't know it's i think it does just yeah yeah brilliant description like from dave anthony was, yeah, it's a perfect description. If there was a cartoon live action movie where like fart, like in the way that Elemental has, you know, what if fire was person? What if water was person?
Starting point is 00:03:36 What if fart, you know? Was governor of New Jersey. Why didn't they think of that? Why wasn't that one of the things? What if fart? But anyways, that image has taken over the image of Kevin James with his hands in his pockets from earlier in the week
Starting point is 00:03:51 oh are people really they're memeing this one it's the one I'm hoping they are that's my pitch for them the Kevin James it's very potent right now very potent we'll see if they got what
Starting point is 00:04:06 it takes see if they have what it takes all right uh the right is pissed off that paw patrol uh has succumbed to the woke mind virus miles there's you know paw patrols on wait on all our minds jack they're not woke because the woke mafia cancelled Paw Patrol for being copaganda. Oh, well, just you wait. What happened now? So, first of all, we're all thinking about Paw Patrol
Starting point is 00:04:35 this weekend as Paw Patrol the mighty movie descends on movie theaters. I had no idea it was out. My kids are officially too old. And yours, too young young that's good uh for the daily zeitgeist you can show your kids more 9-11 content now they're old enough now i'm just going to show them the the movie uh the world trade set is that what the movie was called the kids
Starting point is 00:04:58 i said whoa twain center like I was like a preschooler. Whoa, Twain Center. Whoa, Twain Center. Then there was what? Wasn't it Flight 93? Wasn't it like a Flight 93 movie? Yeah, I'm building to Flight 93. Yeah. I did watch that on a plane leaving Newark. What's the Robert Pattinson one?
Starting point is 00:05:17 Oh, well, Miles, that's a spoiler, but that's Remember Me. Ah, yeah, yeah. But that'll be good just to bookend their 9-11 movie experiences where they go, this one's not about 9-11. All all right guys this this time's not about 9-11 don't worry or is it shoehorning 9-11 and everything but anyways at the time uh yeah as you mentioned people during the first paw patrol media blitz people were like
Starting point is 00:05:45 it's kind of weird it's 2020 and there's this movie in which a cop is like one of the dogs is just a police dog who is lovable huggable probably one of the more popular of the Paw Patrol's
Starting point is 00:06:02 Chase you know and yeah exactly police chase uh but it you know so people called it out and eric trump ted cruz ben shapiro at the time passionately defended the sanctity of a show in which a child and several talking dogs respond to emergencies. Right, right. They're really like, we stand with Paw Patrol. But now there's a new Paw Patrol, in addition to the big movie hit in theater, there's a new Paw Patrol spinoff
Starting point is 00:06:35 that will reportedly feature a non-binary character. The spinoff is not about the non-binary character. It doesn't even, during the episode in which they appear, the non-binary character's status as non-binary is not directly addressed on the show.
Starting point is 00:06:55 But they know. The right-wingers know, huh? The right-wingers know that this is all just a Trojan horse for your liberal sick values. And so they are coming out hard
Starting point is 00:07:11 against the left. These are the people who were raging that the left ever dared to criticize Paw Patrol and now they're complaining that the show's gone woke and it's trying to indoctrinate kids. And the left is like, guys, we
Starting point is 00:07:27 don't give a shit about this show. We don't give a shit. We're worried about actual human beings suffering in physical space, not the fucking cartoon. Oh, okay. Yeah. Well, good luck to them. I'm already, like, again, I'm tired of their hypocrisy
Starting point is 00:07:44 nonstop. But again, it of their hypocrisy non-stop but again it's not hypocrisy because like you said their only thing is they have to build a world that is as hostile as possible towards lgbtq people or whoever they deem on the margins and anything that softens that perspective that would show that maybe there's it's an inclusive society that is when they say they're getting indoctrinated. Yeah. Trying to force your kids. So, yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:10 But Paw Patrol movie, doing battle with Saw X this weekend. And we're all pulling for Saw X so that the liberals don't win another one. Saw Patrol's this weekend. Saw Patrol is this weekend. Fuck. As well as the creator, I think, comes out.
Starting point is 00:08:25 What's that one? It's the Rogue One guy, Garth. Garth Trinidad from KCRW? Garth. Garth Edwards? No, not that one. No, not Garth Edwards. Garth Reynolds.
Starting point is 00:08:36 Garth something. He's a movie director. He made that Monsters indie movie, and he made Rogue One, and now he's got an original sci-fi that i'm rooting for oh this is the john david washington one yeah yeah yeah okay we'll see we'll see so we will also don't forget ego appalachian sipping cream weekend too yeah you'll find out all about that on tomorrow's episode it's a big weekend folks um like paw patrol the mighty movie is it's projecting big big things for the paw patrol franchise um to the point that they've already greenlit a new movie for 2026 which is presumably about like some of the dogs having to be put down at this point like because yeah
Starting point is 00:09:26 they've been around for a decade i mean let's remember yeah then because they are 70 years old and doctors they're elderly dogs at this point yeah we've seen enough elderly animals you know elderly powerful people on our screens let's let leader should be in his early 20s at this point. Right, right, right. Weird. All right, let's take a quick break. We'll be right back. I'm Jess Casavetto, executive producer of the hit Netflix documentary series,
Starting point is 00:10:02 Dancing for the Devil, the 7M TikTok cult. And I'm Clea Gray, Devil, the 7M TikTok cult. And I'm Clea Gray, former member of 7M Films and Shekinah Church. And we're the host of the new podcast, Forgive Me For I Have Followed. Together, we'll be diving even deeper into the unbelievable stories behind 7M Films and LA-based Shekinah Church, an alleged cult that has impacted members for over two decades. Jessica and I will delve into the hidden truths between high control groups and interview dancers, church members, and others whose lives and careers
Starting point is 00:10:30 have been impacted, just like mine. Through powerful, in-depth interviews with former members and new, chilling firsthand accounts, the series will illuminate untold and extremely necessary perspectives. Forgive Me For I Have Followed will be more than an exploration. It's a vital revelation aimed at ensuring these types of abuses never happen again.
Starting point is 00:10:50 Listen to Forgive Me for I Have Followed on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, I'm Gianna Pradente. And I'm Jemay Jackson-Gadsden. We're the hosts of Let's Talk Offline, a new podcast from LinkedIn News and iHeart Podcasts. When you're just starting out in your career, you have a lot of questions. Like, how do I speak up when I'm feeling overwhelmed? Or, can I negotiate a higher salary
Starting point is 00:11:16 if this is my first real job? Girl, yes. Each week, we answer your unfiltered work questions. Think of us as your work besties you can turn to for advice. And if we don't know the answer, we bring your unfiltered work questions. Think of us as your work besties you can turn to for advice. And if we don't know the answer, we bring in experts who do, like resume specialist Morgan Saner. The only difference between the person who doesn't get the job
Starting point is 00:11:34 and the person who gets the job is usually who applies. Yeah, I think a lot about that quote. What is it like you miss 100% of the shots you never take? Yeah, rejection is scary, but it's better than you rejecting yourself. Together, we'll share what it really takes to thrive in the early years of your career without sacrificing your sanity or sleep. Listen to Let's Talk Offline on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I'm Dr. Laurie Santos, host of the Happiness Lab podcast. As the U.S. elections approach,
Starting point is 00:12:08 it can feel like we're angrier and more divided than ever. But in a new, hopeful season of my podcast, I'll share what the science really shows, that we're surprisingly more united than most people think. We all know something is wrong in our culture, in our politics, and that we need to do better and that we can do better. With the help of Stanford psychologist Jamil Zaki. It's really tragic.
Starting point is 00:12:32 If cynicism were a pill, it'd be a poison. We'll see that our fellow humans, even those we disagree with, are more generous than we assume. My assumption, my feeling, my hunch is that a lot of us are actually looking for a way to disagree and still be in relationships with each other. All that on the Happiness Lab. Listen on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you listen to podcasts.
Starting point is 00:13:19 And we're back we are and uh alabama um in some grotesque carceral mcdonald's meal uh has decided to supersize their prison system by building two just super ginormous prisons that freezing the scientific word yeah yeah super ginormous yeah i'm just reading off of the uh the white paper here from their proposal yeah could each house 4 000 inmates and the cost of so the cost of one of the prisons or the cost of both prisons like cost of one of the prisons, or the cost of both prisons, like at the time, people were like, this is absurd that you would be spending this much money.
Starting point is 00:13:53 Like, this is not a good use of funds. This is just, you know, institutionalized racism, like in the most, you know, horrifying form. And now the costs of just one of the super prisons has ballooned to more than $1 billion. That's $270,000 a bed, which is more than the typical Alabama home.
Starting point is 00:14:17 Alabama has a poverty rate of over 16%. And they aim to keep it that way or higher. I love that they're like yeah we just we just like building this stuff like what's the positive aspect nah yeah not sure it's just making money for somebody to make money for a company building it yeah i like how that was like most of the state's budget for two prisons yeah they're like yoink all right now you got like a little bit left but so we made this one for 1 billion yeah and they're stealing they're taking 400 million dollars of pandemic relief funds to
Starting point is 00:14:50 build this prison and you know it's wow the things you could do you directed there's a massive problem with like violence in the alabama prison system that you know that the these prisons will do absolutely nothing to address. It's just... It's just a money machine. Because then once the prison's built, then you get to make a ton of money off of the upkeep and maintenance and fucking, as we found out in the private equity episode,
Starting point is 00:15:22 about people make massive amounts of money on the phone calls or used to. So it's a fuckery carceral casino for all people who get invested in to enjoy. Yeah. Wow. Great. Great. Great. Great. Great. Great. Great. Can we talk about something fun?
Starting point is 00:15:38 Let's talk about the Pokemon Van Gogh. Yeah. Not just a clever name. No. Apparently. According to one Pokemon executive, there is a strong link between the inspiration behind Pokemon and the inspiration behind some of Vincent Van Gogh's most famous work. First of all, what?
Starting point is 00:15:59 Because this is a fucking collaboration between Pokemon and the Vincent Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam. I like that they put them on the same footing. They could have said, Pokemon, the artists behind Pokemon were inspired by Van Gogh's work. But instead, they said, Pokemon in many ways is like Van Gogh. We're inspired by similar shit. Like, we're kind of brothers in art, if you will.
Starting point is 00:16:32 Right. Wouldn't you say so? Yeah. Inspired by the same thing. Yeah, a fight with Paul Gauguin that maybe cut your ear off. That's how Pokemon was created. It was a fight with Paul Gauguin that made you cut your ear off yes that's how pokemon was created it was a fight with paul gauguin and you know just kind of went into did some weird stuff got my ear off yeah but
Starting point is 00:16:53 yeah it's like the art from it is doesn't even seem like like honestly i hate to say this i think ai could have done a better job of giving you van gogh x pokemon collab art yeah it looks like cool stuff from like red bubble or like you know one of those online right art stores yeah yeah yeah for sure for sure and then i just like now that like more than people enjoying the art it just became people just slamming the gift shop to take as much of the merch so they could resell it on ebay and that's really what this all has turned into it's like the um rick and morty fans storming mcdonald's for szechuan sauce yeah yeah that's what they've turned the van gogh museum into have we not learned anything as a species from the mcdon McDonald's giveaway. Right.
Starting point is 00:17:45 But an exclusive Pikachu card and other items are already being sold on eBay for hundreds of dollars. Which seems maybe not worth it. Tell that to the fans. Tell that to the fans. Storm there. Fight with people all to sell it online for $100. Yeah. Let's see.
Starting point is 00:18:07 So the GOP's big impeachment witness was revealed and testified, dropped some heat on Capitol Hill. Basically saying like, yeah, we don't have any evidence yet. Sorry. Yeah. On that whole thing. There is some, there is some wild stuff going on let me just play a clip that was going on from uh this hearing supposed hearing about joe biden really hunter biden that they've somehow connected to joe biden uh here's just here's a taste of the
Starting point is 00:18:39 kinds of questions that are being asked this is jasmine crockett from texas asking a question she's a Democrat. President of the United States has committed. But when we start talking about things that look like evidence, they want to act like they blind. They don't know what this is. These are our national secrets. Looks like in the shitter to me. This looks like more evidence of our national secrets. Say on a stage at Mar-a-Lago.
Starting point is 00:19:06 When we're talking about somebody that's committed high crimes, it's at least indictments. Let's say 32 counts related to unauthorized retention of national security secrets, seven counts related to obstructing the investigation, three false statements, one count of conspiracy to defraud the United States, falsifying business records conspiracy to defraud the United States, two counts related to efforts to obstruct the vote certification proceedings, one count of conspiracy to violate civil rights, 23 counts related to forgery or false document statements, eight counts related to soliciting, and I could go on because he's got 91 counts pending right now. But I will tell you what the president has been guilty of.
Starting point is 00:19:43 He has unfortunately been guilty of loving his child unconditionally and that is the only evidence that they have brought forward and honestly i hope and pray that my parents love me half as much as he loves his child until they find some evidence we need to get back to the people's work which means keeping this government open so that people don't go hungry in the streets of the united states and i will yield and you can run tell that wow because they're out here being like we don't really have evidence and that's why she came up and was like what about this actual shit yeah and yeah again like a shitter she said the shitter has that ever been said on capitol hill i'm sure there has i mean jamie raskin was like behind you getting like he was even catching the vapors after that he was like
Starting point is 00:20:32 whoa okay okay okay yeah because i mean again this is all happening against the backdrop of the republicans about to shut the government down yeah so that shut the government down uh pursuing an impeachment without like they don't even really know what they're impeaching him over because they haven't found anything no just like vibes i guess the biggest thing again remember when they started off they're like we need to do the impeachment inquiry so we get subpoena power so that we can find something yeah they're like you're not leading with evidence first dude so you're going on a wild goose chase but with subpoena power anyway so this is how you find stuff yeah you love you
Starting point is 00:21:12 love a bit of uh you know changing the focus to what actually matters but hey this is where we're at this is what they're using their time with yeah um and finally costco says it's one ounce gold bars are selling out fast miles so i just wanted to do this as a public service to our listeners so that yeah can rush out two g's on you costco and spend two thousand dollars on a one ounce bar of 24 karat gold from rand refinery what what for what gold i mean it works it works on the people man they know are is it just so this is gold right costco is just like here well i mean i get it like the u.s dollars is only based on the threat of dropping like bombs on people so right they're like this might work
Starting point is 00:22:02 when things all go to crap and the billionaires retreat to their bunker yeah it feels like we should talk about that at some point yeah it's gonna be it's gonna be interesting you know if we we're gonna i want to this makes me wonder if like we switch to the carbon standard of like carbon renewal if like costco will have like you know just chunks of carbon can you imagine yeah coal that you can but it's removing carbon so I'm not sure like yeah carbon pendants like pendants with like little
Starting point is 00:22:34 carbon chambers in them right sure get your gold folks if you want to make your greed more literally evident to everyone around you go go buy some gold bars you know yeah i mean you you are getting i think you're like you're you're saving like 15 bucks is that right that's that's why the costco membership is worth it folks thank you you know what i mean
Starting point is 00:22:59 because you will now save on your gold ingots and the like but if you just bought 300 rotisserie chickens like you would be saving even more that's true because the exchange rate of rotisserie chickens like that is the big loss leader for costco you know right so that's the way to actually make your money back yeah all right hey i'm just saying yeah i have a brilliant economic mind so come here for all your finance investing. Also, check out our Threads accounts because we will be doing Zeitgang
Starting point is 00:23:31 Gold bars. You should check these out. Am I allowed to say that it's a pump and dump scheme? We say that afterwards. We're apologizing. No, remember we were saying how can they accuse us of it being a lie if we tell them up front it's a pump and dump right okay okay it's a pump and dump y'all it's a pump
Starting point is 00:23:50 and dump it's look at it look at look into it because it's coming to you we're tub thumping with the pump and dump oh my god i buy these stocks and they go up again i tricked these rubes to buy my nfts and then i pulled the rug out i told my friend i was going to mention tub thumping on today's episode and i followed through at the last second that was fucking harris that was indiana jones snatching his hat real quick right at the end right before the door closed okay okay all right well those are some of the things that are trending on this thursday afternoon we are back tomorrow with a whole
Starting point is 00:24:36 ass episode of the show until then be kind to each other be kind to yourselves yes get the vaccine i got a whole got a whole new one. Oh, you want to get the new iPhone? How about you get the new vaccine? Get that 2324 formulation. Don't do nothing about white supremacy and we will talk to y'all tomorrow. Bye. Bye.
